    About PD&S

If anyone has been reading my blog you'll know about my idea, Ponies, Demons and Spike. Thing is... The story is cancelled for many reasons.
-Spike felt like non entity for most of the story.
-It felt a bit too mean spirited to Twilight with her getting badly beaten by one of my villains.
    -It was just bad story.

The LEGO Movie: video game Review(plus Sny-Eamdray) · 6:41pm Jan 3rd, 2015

Christmas is over and I got a few good things like 4 volumes of Hellsing Ultimate and the Scott Pilgrim comics in color. I also got two games: Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix and the LEGO Movie game. Now you might be wondering I wanted a movie tie-in game. Two reason: 1: I know what the gameplay would be and 2: I liked the movie. Is it a good tie-in?

Story
Its the LEGO Movie and that had a great story. If you don't know, it's about a simple man named Emmet who just follows the rules of his world when finds the tool that can destroy an ancient super-weapon and becomes the Special who must stop it. It's a great but cliche story, with a twist that not only makes the cliches make sense but contains a moral that can relate to almost anyone. However, due to being a game, some important moments had been cut, even to the detriment to the story. While I understand it, I am giving points against it. Though I do like some of the world building like actually working on "Where Are My Pant?".

Gameplay
While I don't get movie games that much anymore, I know what kind of game it would be so I wanted it. Like every LEGO game, you control a group of characters with unique skills to go through a series of platform puzzles to get to the end. The special piece of gameplay in this one is the instruction manuals. When you find all the manuals, you have to play a mini game where you must find missing piece. As for characters, you got girls who can jump high, ones who can drill, ones who can hack robots and doors, etc and Batman. There are also a few other mini game like a dancing one, a hacking one and a level underwater, swimming works good.
I must mention that there are some glitches that can ruin a few levels. Not in story mode, thankfully, but it is a problem in free play. When I was about to do the dance mini game, it wouldn't start. I did find a solution, which was to turn off the red bricks, but it has to get patched.
However. The LEGO series has one major problem ever sense the beginning and that's lack of penalty for death. Sure you lose some money but that doesn't matter as you can get loads later. This was really noticable in a boss fight where I died a good bit not because he was hard, but because he hits like a truck. However, due to lack of penalty, he went down quickly once I saw what to do. I doubt they'll change this because of the gameplay, though.

Presentation
This is a nice looking game.Like the movie, everything, with a few exceptions, is made of LEGO. Everyone walks and move like they're LEGO and most of the effects were LEGO. So it's the most LEGO game. Also, the voice acting is pretty spot on for the main cast, with the actors doing their lines but the more generic characters aren't as good. even if it's the same line from the movie you can see a difference. The music is pretty nice to listen to, with a modernish theme for Bricksberg, old western for The Old West, and Cloud Cookooland is a big party. While the cutscenes are quiet for a good portion of them, they know when start the music.
Speaking of the cutscenes, with one exception, all of them are footage from the movie. While some might see this as lazy, I see it as work already done with them only needing the scenes that take point A to point B.

Verdict
I know movie games have a bad reputation these days, this one is decent. If you liked the movie or a fan of the TT LEGO games, you might like this one, but no rush.
7/10

Also you might have noticed my new avatar. It was a special gift from deviantArt artist Sny-Eamdray for being a watcher and I loved it. If you interested you should take a look of her gallery and YouTube channel. Her art is very cute and catoonish and her humor has a certain charm to it that always makes me smile. And while I don't watch her videos that much, she does have a beautiful voice.
