Right, here's the immediate future of Consequences of Unoriginality:

The Date, Emeris' overly forgiving nature finally gets him in some trouble, the second to last "Emeris focused" chapter;

Next Arc:
The Crystal Empire. Things be fucked up yo. Due to things Emeris' did as Gary, this isn't the canon Crystal Empire craziness. It's much worse. Celestia and Luna actually send a guard along with the Elements of Harmony (not just the Mane Six, but Elements included) to the Crystal Empire. It's gonna be crazy.
I consider this the point where the ball is finally rolling for the story proper, we're finally away from Emeris fixing the immediate consequences of his curse and now with him as part of a group dealing with the more far reaching ones and the trials/tribulations of other ponies.
The Request / Challenge
And this brings us to the request/challenge:
I've got some vague outlines for the guard that accompanies the Mane Six to the Crystal Empire, but I need some help. I suck at names amongst other things. Feel free to suggest additions or alterations to the following ponies!

Cutie mark: a distressingly limp horn. Tends to wear saddlebags and clothes even when not appropriate in order to avoid talking about it. Also tends to explain what he and his cutie mark do in advance, so he doesn't actually have to describe it or show it. Gets very defensive when other ponies wind up seeing it.
Gray/blue coat, purplish mane and tail.
Appearance: somewhat gangly and wiry, with wiry muscles that seem almost out of place.
Specialty in countermagic and ways to negate force multipliers.

Qabanna (name derived from reading around wikipedia for the Oromo language, means "we hold")
Cutie mark of a stylized hoof. Tail is held in place with a leather string with beads on it.

That kind of reaction has always puzzled me; if somebody kills your OC, then...why not simply write a story or something where he's fine and dandy?

Specialties: Former best designated marksman of the entire guard, holds the current record for confirmed hit at long distance (candy corn munitions, at 700 meters). However, she is proficient in all manners of pastry warfare, including muffin grenades, hoof to hoof bear claw usage, RPG (rocket propelled gingerbread), Marble cake fortifications, etc etc etc ).
Her commission to captain is a recent event, spurred by continued "suggestions" from Princess Luna; as it is, after an accelerated course in the service academy (six months!) she feels unsuited for her role, but has kept her objections to herself.
Also, she's diabetic, but hasn't let that fact influence her at all.
