    Update (Without excuses this time!)

Guess what? I'm done writing the next chapter of Manifesto.

I just need to give my prereaders a day or two to look over it, and then it'll go up.

Until then, here's Despacito being played on a guzheng.

    Hey, everyone.

I've somehow gotten out of the habit of posting updates. Oops.

Anyway, you've no doubt noticed that I don't post as often as I once did in the past. This is largely because improvements in my life situation mean I have the wherewithal to engage in hobbies other than writing fanfiction.

    Update.

Goodness, it's been a while, hasn't it? You're probably wondering why my pace has slowed down on Manifesto. Well, there are several reasons, but the most relevant one is that I find myself rewriting large swaths of this chapter as I zero in on the best plan for Sunset to take. I'm basically going back and forth between two ideas that can't really be combined into a single one, and for

    New Story Incoming

In case you missed my last blog post, I'm taking a break from the adventures of Celestia and Daring Do to write the next Petriculture story. At this point it looks like it'll be fairly short -- about two chapters long -- and I recently finished up the first chapter, which will be posted once my prereaders give it a final once-over.

Attack on Lake-Town · 11:23pm Jul 25th, 2014

Nice poster, but I can help but think it looks familiar....

That day, Laketown received a grim reminder and so forth an so on

I am not really seeing it. Unless the burning building and monster somehow makes it the same? One is just standing there with barely a head showing, the other is charging with almost its entire body viable. Further, mouth closed, jaws open, and angled pose verse head on.

There are plenty of movie posters that copy each other, these are not two of them.

...i don't see it.

the title placement is different, the first poster has the hero and monster MUCH closer together, the perspective is from a lower angle, the second poster has the whole 'world burning' motif much more pronounced, the dragon is looking at and seemingly roaring at the hero while the titan isn't really doing much of anything and only looks menacing because of it's creepy skinless face, and the way things are centered, it seems like you're meant to notice the dragon first in the top poster, but meant to notice the hero first in the bottom one. even the color palette isn't quite the same.

Similarities: Colour palette, fire, style of perspective, hero facing monster, some (not much) building structure. :trixieshiftright:

Differences: Photo-realistic animation versus Anime-style animation art style, Point of view is at different distances and heights, more architectural differences than similarities, unseen broken street versus bridge on canal, Hobbit colour palette more blue Titan palette more yellow, great big frickin wall mit der giant versus charging great big flipping dragon.

All in all while the posters are much alike (it's an iconic pose) I don't think Hobbit imitated Titan.

All of you are, for some reason, criticizing these things not being related, instead of imagining Bilbo and a dozen dwarves in 3-dimnsions maneuvering gear, swinging around and slashing at Smaug <.<

2316315 - I don't think it was intentional either. I just noted that there's similarities, and I thought it was amusing.

It's a Comic-Con poster. I am pretty sure it was in fact intentional as an Easter egg kind of thing.

I also predict an appalling number of crossovers will now be written.
...I may have to read non-FiM fanfiction...

You realize that the difference in animation style has everything to do with the decisions of the people making the movies and nothing to do with the decisions of the people making the posters, right? They're both simply set in the same style as the thing they advertise, which actually means both poster designers made the same choice there, not different choices.

That said, 'hero facing giant monster' is a classic and common theme.

2316916 - Actually, it was the similar placement of Smaug's claw and the Colossal Titan's hand that initially caught my attention before I scrolled down to see the "hero facing monster while his town's on fire" image.

My God what have you done?! I can't unsee it!
