Trent The Pragmatic Not-A-Knight: A Bedtime Story for Cynical Children · 3:17pm Jul 10th, 2014
My horsewords have become moneywords.
But there is still a horse.
You'll love the horse.
If you've loved my work in the past, please, show your support. It's only two dollars, the minimum I can reasonably charge and still make a profit after distribution costs. I'm trying to get it up on NOOK and iBooks so I can charge less, but until then, I still think it's absolutely worth the price of admission.
Particularly if you have a child who just doesn't hack your typical nightly fare.
You've done so much for me in the past. I couldn't possibly ask more of you that you weren't willing to give, but if you prove to me that I can realistically make cent 1 from writing, I'll be able to do a lot more of it.
Everybody wins!
Done. I'll have to wait until tonight to actually read it though.
Well, darn it, you've actually given this to me. Just now.
Well screw it. I'm still buying it. So there.
Have to figure out how, of course, given my unique circumstances, but I'll manage somehow.
Would this be appropriate/amusing for 9 to 12 year olds who are learning English? If I buy this as a the tutor I am, can I write it off as a business expense? Does that even make a difference when you're self-employed? Why am I asking you so many questions?
I MUST POSSES THIS
Quick questions:
Can you give us length in characters?
Is there a mobi download option?
(I know I can convert epub to mobi, but sometimes editing gets screwed during process)
I don't have children yet, and even if I have I would probably need something in my native language but you brought us some pretty amusing fics so I will buy it because of it
(If it will be entertaining, it will be added bonus).
Cheers
Do I get a free copy? What with spending hours of my time giggling at it, then a few minutes reading through and fixing errors?
2271871 Yes. Yes. No. Because you have deep-seated self esteem issues and need confirmation from someone else if you want to avoid crippling anxiety as you wonder if what you did is right; asking questions allows you to rest safe in the knowledge that you can pass the blame on, if only in your own mind.
I will buy this as soon as possible!
What's the reading level for this story? I've rather enjoyed your work, and if this is the correct reading level, it might make a great gift for my nephew.
i now own a copy

No

Actually, this was originally a commissioned piece for a friend of mine for that very reason.
2272250
Actually, this was originally commissioned as a piece to be entertaining to both a child and the parent reading it.
2272269
You have officially bought my undying gratitude.
2273685
This sounds great, just one thing.
Is there any other way to get your book? I've never even heard of lulu before and I'd rather not get an account with them if I don't have to. Can I just send you $2 with Paypal instead of going through a third party?
2273784
Unfortunately not at the moment. Something else will be up soon, and I'll organize that then.
2273892
Thanks, I always like to see creators get as big a % as I can, so be sure to let me know if you ever set up a non-third-party way to pick it up.
Mr Numbers, my dear fellow!
So excited to see this! Purchased, read and loved.
Now will share it with the world!
Tally ho!
Purchased. Thanks for the read!
Bought, downloaded, transformed to mobi, put on Kindle. Now just time to read...
Looks like you're only selling it as an ebook; any way to buy it as a physical book?
2283500
Maybe once I can get some decent cover art for it, I'm make a Dead Tree Edition option to those who have been asking for a physical copy.
News as it comes.
Well. That was rather hilarious.
A couple of notes and corrections:
> knight-who-was-not-technically-not-a-knight
There's, um, a double "not" in there. Is that intentional?
> that would look utterly ridiculous..
Double period at the end.
> the king always took first dibs
Fairly sure that should be "the baron". On that note, how is his daughter a princess anyway?
There also seems to be a part of the story where curly quotes are used, and a part where straight simple " ones are used; not sure what caused that.
Oh, and the epub's html is full of errant <span> tags for some reason.
(And it's missing the cover )
