AMUSING INTRO SENTENCE.
1,567 words drafted (MSWord word count) out of 6,000 (estimated finished length).
So I apparently needed a 'no writey' break on this for a few days this week, just to recharge my batteries a little. The actual writing on it hasn't been too difficult or slow going; it was just a slow start, but it be rarin' to go now. And that means...
*drum roll*
I'm really, truly, for sure almost done writing Room for One More. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I'll be all done drafting by the end of next week. Which means it's time to start the weekly updating. So, starting next Wednesday, Room for One More will be moving to a weekly schedule for the remainder of its chapters.
For the nitty gritty on the numbers, 6k words is again an 'average chapter length' ballpark, with some wiggle room up or down by a decent margin. Based on what's left of the story to tell in the drafting, I'm predicting there's between 7k and 9k more words to get between this final chapter and the epilogue, putting the full length on Room for One More around 72k-75k words. There's a chance things might creep over that, but it's right around what I've been expecting for length for a while, and I'm happy with everything that's been drafted thus far.
I'm very glad to be canning this novel in the near future, and I expect I'll be taking another short 'no-writey' break after finishing up. Then it's on to...uh...something. Either a palate-cleansing one-shot, the start of something else large-scale, or picking up something half-started or in progress to poke at. Exciting (not really).
So anyway, expect a chapter update on Wednesday afternoon. S'all I got this week.
