Production Blog 3/2 · 7:51am Mar 2nd, 2014

Hey HEY hey. This week's production blog is brought to you by the number douchebag.

Anyway, progress!

3,191 words drafted (MSWord word count) out of 5,000 (estimated finished length).

So this chapter proved to be rather stubborn to get started. One of those situations where it took longer to write the first paragraph than the next 1,000 words. It's under way, though, and pluggin' along reasonably well now. That estimation for finished length is, of course, rough, but it feels like there's another 2k words to go before I'm done, compared to what's written so far. I imagine if it's varying at all, it'll be towards longer rather than shorter, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was closer to 6k words when finished.

So this story is nearing its end. I've got about two and a half chapters to go, and an epilogue, and it'll be wrapped. I'm currently contemplating whether I should draft it all the way to completion, and then release the last three chapters weekly to finish it off, or keep up with the 'as it's written' thing. Pros for that method would be that it would probably result in me finishing the drafting faster than just releasing as parts are done, because holding releases back as a reward for finishing is a good motivator for me. It would also mean that as this story finishes up getting posted to the site, I will be actively writing other things, which means there will probably be more content in a shorter window of time for y'all from me. The con is really that there might be a slow-down on releases until I'm done drafting. I've been going at a reasonable clip, and I suspect that I've got about 17k more words left to KO this fic, so that's roughly two to three weeks of release silence while I get ahead. This would be compared to me more than likely finishing drafting chapter 10 by Tuesday or so, getting edits, and releasing it late in the week or the following Monday. Future chapters would then be one to two weeks spread apart from each other.

This also doesn't factor in my attention span, and the possibility that I end up tinkering around with something in-between and spread out release times. On the finishing first option, that'll just make that initial release take a little longer before it goes weekly. For the second, it'll stretch things out between updates.

In a certain sense it's tomato-tomahto. I'll think about it some more as I finish up 10 and move on to 11.

TTFN.

I say draft away. I'll keep myself busy by re-reading the whole story again.

Especially chapter 5... :rainbowderp::twilightsheepish::ajsmug:

I don't think "douchebag" is an integer.

What variety of number is "douchebag?"

1887586

The kind that ruins the lives of children:

1887587 It all comes back to Robot Chicken with you, doesn't it?

1887590

Frequently yes.

Bitches love graphs:moustache:

Okay, I'm gonna start paying more attention to these things now.

1887593
nah. Bitches love paragraphs. Only see one graph this time.

I'd prefer the everything in short succession-option.

I don't think you really need to worry about timing so much. As long as it's <2 weeks in between releases, it's reasonably active.
