My emergency funds have dipped dangerously low, so I need to raise funds fast. Among other things, I'm opening the door to fanfic commissions, which I have previously turned down.
3c/word, or 2.8c/word if it's canon characters only. Minimum 1000 words (that's the Fimfic minimum). New fics only; no continuations or sequels. And yes, clop is OK.
The below was in my writing folder, but I can't find its outline, so I can't really finish this as originally intended. It set a nice atmosphere, though, so I'll post it here.
☑ Do something I don't know to do with each story ☑ Be featured ☑ Be regularly critiqued ☑ Write something for every genre tag ☐ Buy the admins a round ☑ Be featured for a squeaky-clean, work-safe story ☐ Write something for every character tag ☐ Write a kinky story ☐ Write a horror story ☐ Write a RPG crossover ☐ Write a magical girl story ☐ Write a science fiction story
I was working on a "My Little Dota" story. Well... it didn't turn out so well. But here's a segment of it - the author's notes, with stats for our favorite princess.
You could probably boil most 22 minute MLP episodes down to around 6-7 thousand words for the most basic premise and events presented in the third person. If you wanted to do it from a perspective, or include more inner monologue / action stuff, you'd probably need closer to 10-14k words.
Personally, I wouldn't try to represent an episode like story without at least 10k words, but I'm notably wordy in my descriptions.
Remember, most episodes encompass a single conflict arc from beginning to end. There's rarely a side story, and when there is it's frequently used as a foil to the main story. So a tight focus is absolutely key.
Considering that it takes about ten to fifteen words to descriptively show something in writing compared to about two seconds on television, and that the show lasts about twenty-two minutes on average, the numbers come out to about 6600-9900 words.
But in all honesty, just write however much you feel like. It's only finished when you can safely say that the conflict is resolved. -SoI
