Rush Limbaugh writes a children's book which features a time-traveling, talking horse · 11:41pm Sep 14th, 2013

Rush Limbaugh has worked in radio since he was 16. His big break came when he launched the Rush Limbaugh radio program in 1988. For 25 years and counting, the Rush Limbaugh Show has been a beacon of conservative ideas and a source of bombastic political commentary. His two books, 'The Way Things Ought to Be' and 'See, I Told You So' were both New York Times' Best Sellers. Limbaugh also guest-starred on Family Guy, where he portrayed himself.

On May 14, 2012, Rush Limbaugh was inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians. A bronze bust of Limbaugh is now on display in the Missouri State Capitol building in Jefferson City.

After a twenty year hiatus from writing, Limbaugh will soon be releasing a new book for children which details key points in American history. Limbaugh hopes this will be the first in a series of stories. The first book is called Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans.

Rush Revere is a substitute school teacher at a middle school anywhere in America, and he will take a couple of students with him to the first Thanksgiving, and they will learn all about it. Think of it as a cross between the Magic School Bus and the Time Warp Trio.

Only Rush Revere doesn't have a magic school bus or magic book to journey into the past. What bronies may find interesting is that the time-travel is accomplished via Rush Revere's faithful talking horse named Liberty. Liberty is described by Limbaugh as 'a smart aleck.'

"We've given [Rush Revere] a talking horse who can time-travel. The name's Liberty, and they can go anywhere in American history... Liberty can't go anywhere in the future. Liberty can't go anywhere but American history. That's it. I mean, that's the rules that we put in place." - Rush Limbaugh

Whether or not Limbaugh realizes it, he's created a pony OC which would feel right at home in the magical land of Equestria. I think that makes Limbaugh a brony. After all, Bill Clinton was dubbed an honorary brony for answering a quiz.

Surely Rush Limbaugh publishing what is essentially a self-insert fanfic with his OC pony makes him a brony.

Limbaugh is very passionate about American history as evidenced by this clip of him sharing the true story of Thanksgiving.

"There's not a political agenda to my book, folks. There really isn't. There's just true historical fact, and that alone's gonna make it controversial, although there's nothing in the book that is controversial. It's just the truth of the Pilgrims and who they were and why they came and what happened to them when they got here. It does contain The True Story of Thanksgiving, and it's an entertaining way to learn. It's for kids 10 to 13, but it's for everybody. I don't like mentioning the age. It's written for that age-group, but it's for everybody." - Rush Limbaugh

I highly encourage everyone who enjoys history or talking horses to order Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims, which will be released on October 29th. After it's released, the book will sell for $19.99, but it's nearly half that price for those who pre-order it from Amazon.com. Since it was announced, Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims has been the number one best-selling book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble for ten days as of this writing. It's number one not just in terms of pre-order books, but overall. I plan on picking up the hardcover, as well as the audio book.

"I've never done anything like this. You know, the audio version was a real challenge. I still love professional challenges, folks. I still get jazzed by doing something I haven't done. I mean, I've read my other two books, but it's nothing like this. This is a dramatic reading.

It calls for very many voice inflections, some impersonations, accents, storytelling. It was a real challenge. I had not done it before and I'm really proud of it because, in my mind, it's some of the best work I've done, the audio version of this book." - Rush Limbaugh

Let's show the book industry that talking equines make everything better.

I forgot about the Time Warp Trio. I loved that stuff. :pinkiehappy:

I cant take that book cover seriously whatsoever; he looks like one of the kids from fairly odd parents how his head is as big as his torso.

... I swear to Luna that my idea for an original fic is better than this. And he's a New York Times' Best Selling Author? I guess I shouldn't take his children's book too seriously, but I swear to god that if I don't do well in the writing business.:twilightangry2:

Well... I would probably become depressed.

I'd be interested... except for the fact it's Rush fucking Limbaugh.

Calling it! Rush Revere's a Time Lord and Liberty's his TARDIS!

Not even talking magical equines can make me pay any attention to this nutjob.

Wait, so if Liberty can travel through American history, but can't go to the future, does that imply that the country will cease to exist soon? :unsuresweetie:

1350296 Do keep in mind that the guy has been a prominent radio talk show host for a quarter century. When he endorses or sells something, its going to get popular. When it comes to any idea, story or product, getting the word out is as important - if not more so - than the product itself.

1350469 It could mean that since the future hasn't happened yet, its inaccessible. Its like watching a live recording on DVR; you can rewind all the way to the beginning, but you can't go to the end if it hasn't happened yet.

1350441 What exactly makes him a "nutjob"?

1350598
I guess.
Literary agents are important when it comes to selling your books, because they can get your manuscript to the publishing houses faster than you.

1350598
What he said. Just like writers on FimFiction with a lot of followers shoot straight to the featured box when they post a new story, famous people become bestselling authors when they publish a new book.

Soo..... how long until we see Liberty in Equestria? :|

Oh, the fanfics...

1351288 Keep in mind, Liberty can only travel through American history...

I'm just waiting for Steven Colbert's talking horse book.

1351254
With the help of Twilight Sparkle, Liberty and Rush Revere are transported to the Land of Equestria. Rush Revere meets Celestia and Luna. At one point, Liberty wants to see the founding of Equestria, so Twilight Sparkle casts a spell in conjunction with Liberty's time-traveling abilities to return to the founding of Hearth's Warming Eve. They meet the three warring tribes of ponies and see how Equestria was made. Cheerilee's class could go with them as well, in order to keep with the theme of teaching children about history.

Pre-ordered. Been a dittohead for since I can remember, although I haven't listened to his radio show in a while. Now that Liberty exists, I can imagine him teaching Twilight Sparkle a little more about Time Travel. They could become friends. Or, knowing FimFiction, it'd quickly become clop between a hot librarian and an all-American patriot.

Which I'd actually totally read, anyway.

Speaking of clop, Bronystories, I'm limbering up my writing my writing muscles with a fetish fic before diving into that Pinkie/Ponyacci clopfic we were talking about. Just thought I'd give you a head's-up.

Sounds great! Can't wait!

1352130 Nice short summary. ... I look forward to the full story. God, that sounds wrong coming out of my mouth - I don't have nice things to say about Rush Limbaugh >_> There's a reason the 'flush rush' campaign exists, after all...

1350598

If you don't think he's a nutjob, you either haven't been paying attention, or you're one of them.

1354524 Oh no, I listen to his show. But believe me, while Limabugh is a Republican party-liner, he is tame compared to the other commentators out there. Check out guys like Michael Savage or Mark Levin, who represent "Independent Conservatives" - if you think Limbaugh is crazy, you'll love them.
Also, if I'm one of those people, are you one those other people?:trixieshiftright:

1354579 Partisan strife is so droll, I would sponsor it even if it didn't distract everyone from what's really happening. Of course, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore both work for me.

1361855 True enough, everyone has different opinions. Regardless of whether or not I agree with those opinions, I respect them and their right to state them. This is America/the internet after all, not North Korea.
