It's nearing Hearth's Warming Eve and everypony's looking for a date. Will Love Checker find her true love or will she be taking care of a problems for someponies?
It was nearing Hearth's Warming Eve. Everypony ran around doing last-minute preparations and some were going on dates. Only one pony wasn't running around like the rest. She didn't have a special somepony to go with to to the Hearth's Warming Eve dance at Ponyville park. But how? After all her name is Love Checker. How could she be one of the ponies who didn't have a date at all? She'll find out soon that this was just the beginning of her problems.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror which Rarity gave to me. Let me introduce myself, I'm Love, Love Checker. I'm a unicorn. I'm a friend of the Elements of Harmony ponies. Anyway the Hearth's Warming Dance is coming. Yesterday afternoon I went to the library to borrow a book and ask Twilight if she had a date to the party. "I don't have a date.. Anyway none of us do." She answered "I mean, I don't mind if I don't have a date...". I heard her sigh heavily telling me she Did mind. I asked the others too.these were their answers:
Rarity- same as Twilight. Fluttershy- same as Twilight. Pinkiepie- smiling from ear to ear. Applejack- didn't mind the dance. Rainbowdash- talked about a long lost friend.
It seemed like Pinkie was the only pony who found a date. After all, she is a social butterfly. I looked down at the book I was reading. It was about a young pony looking for a date for the town dance. Yeah.. She has the the same problem as me, I thought. I was finishing it up when somepony called my name. "Love! Get your flank down here!" it called. "Rainbow" I muttered. She's always like this. She knows that I'm reading a book at this time of day. "Coming!" I called, finishing my book before I came down. "What took you so long?" She questioned me. "What do you expect?" I replied with a smile "I was reading". I showed her the book. "Not those sappy stuff again!" She said and then made a face. I laughed. "Sooo... Why are you here anyway?". "Oh! Right, Twilight has something for you at the library." the blue pegasus told me. "I'll race ya there!" I replied
She flew while I ran. We finally reached the library with Rainbowdash as the winner of the race. We went inside the library looking for Twilight, who was nowhere to be found. Rainbowdash then said goodbye racing to the door, which left me in the library. As I looked around, I saw the Cutiemark Crusaders reading a book. I smiled at the three girls, they smiled back. I looked around once more. No sign of Twilight, but Spike was there. "Hey Love!" Spike called from the desk. I waved to him and trotted towards him. "Hi Spike." I replied and waved a book in front of him "here's the book I borrowed last week, I still haven't finished the other one." "By the way,Love, Twilight has something for you." He said and got of the chair looking for something. "Ahhh... Here it is." He gave me a pink box with a blue ribbon. "Wow... What's inside?" I asked him. He shrugged and went to shelve some books.As he left, I opened the box. There were books in there, but just not ordinary kinds of books, they were about magic,love and alot more I wasn't quite sure of! I also saw a guidebook about Equestria and a notebook. There was a note inside. It said "Happy Birthday! From Twilight". I looked at the calendar. Sure enough, I saw a circle on the calendar ,which was today , which said "Love's Birthday". I smiled with glee. It was my birthday! I looked outside the window. None of Twilight's bestfriends were there, neither was Twilight. I went to a desk to see the books Twilight got me. Then I noticed something. I looked around the library, and my eyes were on Applebloom. She was staring at Spike dreamily. Then I turned my eyes on Spike. He was shelving some books, so he didn't notice Applebloom staring at him at all. I got the notebook Twilight had given to me and wrote: "Love Time! Applebloom likes Spike.Squee! This is gonna be good! Problem: Spike likes Rarity who is way older then Spike. Solution: Still working on it." I looked at what I wrote. This is really a tuffie, I thought. Since when did Applebloom like Spike? I used my magic to know. She's been crushing on Spike for one month and two weeks! Wow! She really has a huge crush on Spike. I just gotta get them together. Maybe not now, maybe tomorrow. I trotted over to the three fillys. "Hi girls!" I said. "Oh! Hi Love" Sweetie Belle and Scootalo said in unsion while Applebloom was still staring at Spike. "What happened to her?" I asked them, even though I already knew. "She has a crush!" Sweetie whispered into my ear. "Oh really?" I replied. "Don't act like you don't know, Love!" Scootalo exclaimed. Spike shushed at Scootalo. Scootalo shrugged and continued reading. Me and Sweetie Belle giggled at her. "Oh! By the way here's you're birthday gift Love." Sweetie Belle gave me a box " We were supposed to give it to you later.".
************************************************************ I was back at my house preparing lunch for me and my dogs. I was still wondering if the stallion of my dreams would sweep me of my hooves and Applebloom's crush on Spike. My dogs barked and barked for their food. Cheeky,my one month old pup, licked my hooves while Ava, my three month old pup, barked for food. Now Cheeky wasn't hard to feed since he only drinks milk but Ava was a little harder. I had to put her dog food in her bowl put some water in it and wait for about ten minutes for it to cool down. Well, preparing it wasn't hard at all, but giving it is! She jumps whenever she sees her food. Thank goodness I have magic back again. You see a month ago, my horn wouldn't give out any magic at all! So I had to give it to her without magic, which was pretty hard. I had my magic back only a week ago. Ten minutes passed, and I gave Ava her food, got Cheeky's milk bottle and fed him. I sighed. They were pretty hard to take care of. Then somepony grabbed me.
As I was pulled by the pony outside my house, I could see the pony's mane. It was pink... "Pinkie-" I managed to shout but was cut off. "Happy Birthday,Love!" The ponies exclaimed. I looked at them all, my jaw was hanging and I was just blinking in awe. "Do you like it, Love?" Pinkie asked me. I nodded. She smiled at me."Oh, By the way Love, your parents are here.". I looked around and I eventually saw my parents. They were talking to my best friend, Rose Bud. She's an earth pony and She has a longtime crush on Tornado, a pegasus who has a crush on Rainbowdash. I didn't tell her about it though, it would break her heart if she knew now. Then I had a tingly feeling. I looked around. My eyes stopped on Scootalo. I used my magic to see which among the little colts she had her eye on....Hmm... SPIKE!! How could I have not noticied this at the library! I jotted this down on my notebook:
"So not good.... One thing I hate the most are love triangles. But I am glad that their not rivals... Hmm... I'll think about this. In the meantime I gotta go to my parents."
As I said, I hate love triangles. But how I got my cutiemark was because of a love triangle. When I was a filly,I loved singing and I loved reading books, but not just any books, they were about love and magic. I lived in Ponyville since I was a foal. I was one of the trendsetters of the school, and the student body president. But the day when I got my was the highlight of my school years but also the worst day of my school years. You see, two ponies named Light Bliss and Ann Fashion, had a crush on a colt named Galaxy. I planned everything perfectly. I asked their crush who he liked best among the two. Then I tried to comfort the pony whose feelings got hurt and everything went fine. Then I looked at my flank and saw my cutiemark! It was a heart decorated by little hearts and little notes. And from that day on I was the love guru of the school.But this was different. These were friends the others, rivals and that the object of their affection likes somepony else! This was really hard, but I didn't focus on that more. I focused on getting to my parents.
"Hey Love!" Rose Bud called. "Hi Rose! Hi Mom! Hi Dad!" I replied. "Well... Our daughter is really pretty, honey. I'm sure a few colts have their eye on her." my dad said. I blushed. But I couldn't really say if those colts were good enough for me. "Oh Samson! Don't embarrass her!" My mom insisted. Then they argued. " By the way, Love, I saw a cute stallion staring at you awhile ago." Rose said. I rolled my eyes. I had more important issues at the moment. "Aww... Come on Love. It's your birthday. Try to relax and enjoy the party". I followed my best friend to the gift table. "Your presents." She said. I looked at the stack of gifts and smiled with glee. I couldn't belive it! It seems like everypony gave me gift today. That reminds me, I forgot to open the Cutiemark Crusaders gift. But I can't open these now. "Wow!" I said with glee. "Let's go to the refreshments table. You must be hungry." Rose bud suggested. I agreed. My dogs may have had lunch, but I didn't. Just then my stomach grumbled. My bestfriend laughed. "You really are hungry, Love."
************************************************************** I was in my room with my pets. I sighed. I was wondering who would have the guts to come and ask me to the dance. The dance is two weeks from now. My parents were in my guest room, asleep. I looked down my window and saw Pinkie packing stuff and cleaning the place with some help from Rainbowdash, Applejack, Big Macintosh and a few others. I had opened my gifts once I was inside the house. One of them was really sweet. It was a teddy bear, some roses and chocolates. It was so romantic. It had a note tucked inside.

I had a secret admirer! I know I can spot the guy easily but, my magic doesn't work that way. I can never know who likes me. I was hugging the teddy bear and eating the chocolates while staring at the night sky. It was midnight now. I remembered that the party didn't end until eleven thirty PM. My dogs were playing together. Poor Cheeky though, he couldn't walk so well yet. The little guy would slide whenever he tried to run or walk. I hopped into bed and got a book given by Twilight. I practiced my magic for a change and every once in awhile I would play with my dogs. Then I thought about that little problem between the two Cutiemark Crusaders.
Soooo... Let's see. Applebloom and Scootalo likes Spike who likes Rarity who is older than him. This was harder than last time. I could do love guru on the newspaper easily. But this was different. I looked at the book Twilight had given me. I found something about some relaxation stuff so that I could sleep. So I went downstairs, got some lavender scented candles, thin cucumber slices, hot water, lemon juice and a towel. I lighted the lavender scented candles, placed a few drops of lemon juice and placed the towel on top of the bowl and put my face into the bowl. That was really relaxing. Before going to sleep I paced the cucumber slices on my eyes. I was going to sleep well tonight.
It was now eight o' clock in the morning. My parents are leaving for Canterlot at noon. I was out for a walk, thinking about that note in one of my gifts. I sighed. Who could it be? Pinkiepie was trotting by with a colt. Must be her date, I thought. I was gonna go to Zecora's, but I reconsidered it. I trotted to the library instead. Last night, you see, I had a dream.
****************************FLASHBACK**************************** I was in Canterlot at a masquerade party.Princess Celestia had given Twilight and Spike invitations for themselves and to me,Applejack's family,Rarity,Rainbowdash,Pinkiepie and her date,Fluttershy,The Cutiemark Crusaders and Rose Bud. A handsomely dressed colt was coming by, I couldn't see his face though. He was a unicorn just like me. He held his hoof in front of me, asking me to dance with him. So we danced until the stroke of midnight. "Please don't go!" I told him. "I'm so sorry, but I need to go." He replied and kissed me before he ran away. I stayed there,alone with my friends, too stunned to move. *************************************************************************
I had explained to Twilight my dream. She was now pacing around the library looking for a book about dreams. Spike was tailing her to make sure he could get the books she threw. Twilight had told me earlier that, Princess Celestia had sent her invitations to the Hearth's Warming Eve dance at Canterlot. I looked at her surprised. My dream had come true. Except for the part where I met my true love.
"Ah-ha! Here it is!" Twilight exclaimed. Spike caught the last book she threw and went off to shelve the huge stack. I went towards Twilight, who was scanning the book. "It says here, Love, that you will find your true love soon, since there are signs that it will happen." she started. "You have to be on the look out for him. You might know him. Here are signs that you should know: -The colt who likes you stares at you a lot. -he tries to get your atten-"
"Okay, Twilight. You don't have to say those things that I already know." I told her. "Anyway, that's all I need to know.". Twilight sighed. "Right. I almost forgot about that. Anyway, did you enjoy the gifts I gave you?" "Yup." I replied. "I really enjoyed those books. Especially 'A Guide for Equestria'.". I really mean't it. It was such a good read. I have been wanting to travel. The only places I've been to are here in Ponyville and Canterlot. To be exact, I didn't live here since I was a foal. I am really from Canterlot and I transfered only when I was in the 5th grade.
"I bet you really miss your bestfriends back at Canterlot,Love." Twilight said as if reading my mind. I nodded. I really really miss them. It's been years since I last saw them. I'm so excited to see them again. I said goodbye to Twilight and continued on my walk. I was headed for Rarity's Boutique when, somepony bumped into me.
"Oh! Sorry there, Love..." He said. "I wasn't looking at where I was going.". I looked at the colt. He had a card,some roses, and some chocolates in his saddlebag. He was a unicorn just like me and had black hair with blue highlights and a shooting star for a cutiemark. It was Lighting Star! "Sorry, Lightning." I said. "And who owns those chocolates and roses?". I didn't dare use my magic. I knew who he likes after all, but I liked asking ponies about these things. The mare he likes is somepony I don't know at all. I noticed him blush a little. "Bye, Lightning." I called as I continued trotting to Rarity's Boutique. ********************************************** "Don't you think this is just darling?" Rarity asked as she gave me a dress to try on for the Hearth's Warming Eve dance. I nodded and looked at the dress with satisfaction. It was just like how I saw it in my dream. It was violet in color with diamonds in pink and blue. Rarity also gave me a simple emerald necklace. I went into the dressing room and fitted the dress. It actually fit perfectly! I went outside the dressing room and showed the dress to Rarity. "It's simply divine,darling!" She exclaimed.
"Well... What are you gonna wear, Super Fashionista Rarity." I asked her. She blushed and smiled at me while she levitated a dress.
"Ta-Da!" She exclaimed. "Wonderful,Isn't it?". I nodded. I paid for the dress and went back home to help my mom and dad pack. *********************************************** As I went inside my house, I saw some chocolates and roses in my mailbox. There was a note with it too. "Dear Love,

I blushed. It didn't really rhyme, but it was really sweet of him to give me a love note, chocolates and some roses. I went inside to help my parents drag their stuff to the train station. ************************************************** I was in Sugarcube Corner, eating lunch. I looked at Pinkiepie who was placing mistletoes on top of unaware couples' heads. I thought about the note again. 'But you'll see me everyday',huh?,I thought. Then I saw Applebloom looking around the room, then trotted towards me.
"Hiya,Love!" She said. " 'Mah big brother's lookin' fer ya!". I used my magic for awhile. Big Mac has a crush on Twilight Sparkle. Well, It's actually obvious to me. Big Mac's good at mathematics and Twilight is really smart. They'll look good together. "Well, are ya comin' or what?" Applebloom asked. I trotted to Applebloom quickly, finishing my food.
Big Mac was at the orchard, bucking some apple trees. Applebloom trotted to the treehouse, where the other two crusaders were waiting for her. I trotted towards Big Mac, who suddenly stopped when he saw me."Well, hey there Big Mac. Why did you want me here?" I asked.
"Does Twilight like me?" he asked sheepishly. He was blushing at what he said and the only four ponies who can spot it are me, Applejack, Granny Smith and Applebloom. I shrugged. I never tell anypony anything about those stuff. "Use yer magic!" He said.
"Nah... It would take the fun of knowing from her, out." I said. "Besides I don't work that way." "Eeyup... Maybe ah shouldn't had have asked ya." He said. "Well then... See ya, Big Mac." I said ************************************************ I got mail in my mailbox again. But not from my secret admirer. These were questions for my column in a magazine called 'Candy and canes' a magazine for teens. I'm also the editor in chief for this magazine. But this was just a sideline. I'm a interior designer and a singer. I sang only in Ponyville and on special occasions, in Canterlot. Usually when there's a new home in Ponyville, I decorate it. I think before I opened my mailbox, the mailbox itself burst. I had my work cut out for me.
*************************************************** I sighed. My work was finally done. I would send the magazine to a the publisher so that every mare in Equestria would receive their copy of the magazine. Now I was with my two dogs in the living room enjoying a good story I was reading. Ava had yawned while Cheeky was now fast asleep. I levitated them to their little beds in my bedroom. I got some snacks and got my diary. I liked writing in my diary, but it's tiresome if it's the magazine. Writing in my diary made me relax a little for some reason. What was happening again with the Cutiemark Crusaders? I don't remember. I fell asleep relaxed as ever...
Earlier today, Lighting had asked me if I wanted to go to the movies tonight. I said yes to him for a reason. I needed to relax a little since last night. My hoof was still a little tired from writing. I had asked Fluttershy to babysit my two dogs. "Umm... So you're going to the movies?" She asked me. I nodded levitating my coat. "The food for the doggies... are here too... right?" she asked pointing at th cupboard. I nodded again.
"I best be going,Fluttershy." I said. She nodded and went off to prepare the two dogs' food. There was a knock on the door. I looked into the little hole at my door. It was Lighting. I opened the door. "Hi,Lightning." I said.
"Hi,Love." he replied. It was a starry night. Princess Luna really made it pretty. I looked at Lighting who was staring at me . I was getting a little worried about him. This was just weird. He shaked his head. "Sorry..." He said. "Let's go to the movie house, now then.". So we left my house and headed for the movie house.
We finally arrived at the movie house. Lightning had already gotten us tickets for a romance-comedy movie. He seems to know my taste. He also got some delicous cookies. Those cookies he got were sugar cookies. My favorite! Okay. How did he know that I love sugar cookies? We aren't that close. How does he lnow that stuff! I know he isn't pshyic!
Althourghout the movie, I noticed Lightning staring at me just like at my house. He was getting a little too weird. "So... did you like the movie?" He asked me as we were getting out of the movie house. I nodded. The most romantic part was just like my dream. The movie had only lasted for an hour and a half. The nightsky looked so pretty. Then I saw a pegasus in the distance. He had dark blue hair, emerald green eyes, leaves being blown by the wind as his cutiemark and brown body. He looked pretty cute. I mean, by Rose's standards. Oh what the hay, he was sooo handsome! He was flying towards me! My heart was beating fast. "Hi. My name's Swift." He said. "A pretty mare like you should have a pretty name.". I blushed.
"Love... Love Checker's my name. hehe." I replied. I was nervous. Really nervous. He was so cute! The most hamdsome colt I've ever seen. He smiled at me. I looked away blushing. I think I was staring at him. "Um... How about we get something to eat." Lighting butted in. I shoke my head to get out of my daze. I hadn't eaten dinner yet. My stomach grumbled. "Okay. How about you come with us Swift?" I asked. He nodded in approval. I smiled. Maybe he's my secret admirer. "How 'bout you ride on my back?" he asked me. I nodded. The next thing I knew, we were up in the clouds and I was holding Swift tightly. He was smiling. I looked down at the ground and I saw Lighting running by faster than Swift. He was pretty Lighting fast. I giggled at my joke. I've also heard from Rainbowdash and Fluttershy that sometimes at night, Lighting would be running in the sky. Although I noticed, he wasn't as fast as Rainbow, but he sure was fast for a unicorn. He stopped at an Italian restaurant. Swift went down for a landing. You know, I'm beginning to wonder how Lightning knows that I like Italian food. I've never told him any of these things. I only told him the kinds of movies I liked. Me and Swift went into the restaurant where Lightning was already seated at a table. "C'mon you two."Lightning said. "I've already ordered some food. You can ask for additions to the order.".
"So, what did you order?" I asked him. I was pretty curious if he knew some of my favorite food. "Spaghetti with tomato sauce, not meat sauce, Pepperoni pizza, blueberry cheesecake for desert, and raspberry iced tea." he replied confidently. I was surprised. He knows my favorite food! How much does he know? As soon as Lighting had told me what did he order, Swift called a waiter and ordered his food. Ten minutes later, our food was served. It was delicious for my first time to go to this restaurant. It was getting late, Lightning had offered to walk me home before Swift had to say a word. We talked and talked as he guided me home. I didn't know we had so much in common. He likes Romance-Comedy movies just like me. He likes to read and he likes Italian food just like me. I enjoyed every last minute with him that I was sad when we reached my home. We exchanged goodbyes before he left for his home. As soon as Lightning left, Sweetiebelle ran towards me with a panicked expression on her face.
"What's wrong, Sweetiebelle?" I asked her. "ApplebloomandScootaloarefightingaboutwhogetsSpike!" Sweetiebelle exclaimed. I calmed her down a little bit. "They're asking me who's side am I on, but I just couldn't choose between my two bestfriends." she said as soon as she was calm. "Wait... When did this happen?" I asked sheepishly. Sweetiebelle groaned. "You don't remember?!" she exclaimed. I shoke my head. She told me everything, even the things when I wasn't with them. I recalled my memories. Sweetiebelle was right! We ran straight outside heading for their clubhouse.

We thought they were in the clubhouse but they weren't, so Sweetiebelle and I thought we should split up and try to see if they were at their homes. I took Applebloom's house while she went to Scootalo's. Applebloom's home wasn't that far, so I got there in lickety-split. I knocked on the door to which Applejack had answered too. "Well, howdy there, Love!" she said. "What'd ya want at this late hour?".
"I want to speak with Applebloom." I told her. She gave me a confused look, since I don't come around at ten o'clock in the evening and tell her I that I want to speak with Applebloom.
"If ya say so, Sugarcube." She replied. "By the way, she's crying' 'bout that crush of hers on... Ya know... Spike.". I walked up the stairs and knocked on Applebloom's door.
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" she sobbed. She was truly in a bad mood. "Let me in." I asked her. "NO!" she yelled. "Aww... Please?" I asked her once more. Once again she gave me "NO!" for an answer. So I used my magic to try to unlock the stupid door, though it didn't work and everything went on like, forever! I don't think she's gonna come out of her room until tommorow, so I gave up for now, since I couldn't get her out of there. So I went out of the Apples' residence and headed for Scootalo's.

I got to Scootalo's home which was close to the Apple farm. It was a huge mansion since her parents were rich unicorns. I noticed a figure walking down the steps with a worried and panicked expression on her face. I sighed. It was Sweetiebelle, probably with no luck of persuading Scootalo. And I was right. Sweetiebelle had given me a full report on her try to get Scootalo to apologize to Applebloom and get rid of this nonsense. We decided to try again tomorrow. Sweetiebelle yawned and apparently fell asleep. I carried her over to Rarity's.

"What a night!" I exclaimed suddenly which made my dogs get startled. "I'm sorry you two..." I coeed. "It's just that it was one heck of a night.". They snuggled up close to my face and started licking which made me laugh. I loved them very much, no doubt about it. You see back then, I had a puppy named Yuki, but he died when he was only 8 months old. I cried for weeks after I lost him. He was very dear to me. We spent almost everyday together. I couldn't believe it. He was gone. Died because of an illness called heart worm. So whenever I see my two dogs now, I want them to be safe and sound and healthy.
I wondered about Lightning knowing some things about me. Is it possible I've met him before he came to Ponyville in Highschool? I'm not sure. I yawned. It was late and I needed some rest. I turned the lights off and went t bed.
*************DREAM********* "Hello...?" I shouted making an echo. "Is anypony there?". Slowly, two colts came into view, I couldn't see their faces though. One of them was a unicorn while the other was a pegasus. They wanted me to go with one of them. So I picked the unicorn which in turn changes to another dream, a dream I still remember. It was the masquerade ball again. Everything went the same way just like the first time but there was a slight difference. *********************************
