Prologue

I woke up to my alarm clock buzzing. I sleepily looked over and saw it was 6:30 a.m. I thought to myself, "5 more minutes", hit the snooze button and turned back over in my bed. 5 minutes later, the alarm goes off again. I get out of bed, and say to myself, "Alright, alright, I'm up.", and shut off the alarm.

I stretch out my arms, as they are a bit sore from sleeping on them wrong. After yawning a couple times I decide to go downstairs and make myself some breakfast before school. On the way down, I notice the kitchen light is on. Strange. Usually nobody is up until at least 7:30. I walk into the kitchen to find my mother standing over the stove cooking.

"Well your up early." I said to my mother. "What's the occasion?" She jumped and turned around, holding her left hand over her heart.

"Geez, you scared me Lucas." She said, turning back to the stove. Smelled like she was making pancakes. "I couldn't sleep. What are you doing up so early?"

"I'm always up this early." I said. "You guys are just always asleep till 7:30, so you don't notice. Those smell delicious by the way." I open the fridge and take out the jug of orange juice.

"Would you like some? I'm just finishing off the first batch," said my mother. She pulled off the first pancakes and put them on a plate.

"Thanks," I said, picking up the plate and putting it on the table. I moved to the cupboard and pulled out a glass. I filled it with orange juice, and left the jug on the counter. I sat down at the table to enjoy my breakfast before getting ready for school. I eat my breakfast slowly, knowing I have plenty of time to get ready. When I'm finished, I put my plate and glass into the sink, and head upstairs for a shower. After my quick shower I head to my room to get dressed for school. I open my dresser, grabbing whatever I see first, and pull it on. I head downstairs to the living room to watch some T.V before I leave.

As 7:30 rolls around, right on cue, my father starts walking down the stairs. "Mornin' Lucas," says my father, "hows the show?" This is a typical morning routine in my house.

I respond with my usual, "Not bad." My dad nods his head and walks into the kitchen to get breakfast. At 8, I get up, pick up my school bag and yell out to my parents, "Bye guys! See you after school!" And head out the door.

About two blocks down the street, I see my friends Brian and Steve. I yell at them to wait up and run across the street. Three steps into the street I hear a car honk, and turn to see it heading straight for me. I put my arms out in front of me out of reflex, and hear a loud thud.

I open my eyes and see nothing but white. I think to myself, "What the hell just happened? Am I dead?"

All of a sudden I hear a voice coming from in front of me. It was calming, yet speaking in a tone of authority. "Yes Lucas. You are dead. But not for long. I have decided to give you a new chance at life, under one condition. All you have to do is accept, no questions asked."

"What? Who are you? And what do you mean a new chance at life?" I asked the Voice.

"You have passed away before your time. You were not yet meant to die, so I am giving you a second chance. All you have to do is say yes, and you will be alive again."

"Ok? What if I say no?"

"You will ascend to Heaven, but never see anyone again."

"Well.... I'm not quite ready to die yet. I guess I have my answer then. Yes, please revive me."

"Oh, Lucas. I will not be reviving you. I will simply remake you how I wish in a different plane. Good luck. You might need it where you are going."

"Wait a minute. What do you mea-", was all I could make out before everything went black. When I finally opened my eyes I saw a blue sky above me. I sat up and looked around, noticing I was in some kind of field. I put my hoof to my face... wait. Hoof? What the hell?

A/N: I apologize for this Author's Note. I promise I won't do too much. I will really only use them when necessary. I decided to add this note to mention a change in my writing. I have changed the thoughts of the character to Italics, so when he is thinking, it won't seem as though he is speaking out loud. Hopefully this will make the story seem a bit more “professional”, even though I am clearly not a pro. I have also decided that I will try to update this story at least twice a week. There are no promises to this statement, so don't hold me to it. Thank you everypony, and enjoy!

Chapter 1: A Strange New Land

What the hell is going on here? Where am I? I think to myself. I attempt to stand up, but since I'm not used to walking on 4 legs, I stumble and hit the ground. I try again, this time slowly. Once I figure out how to stand, and slowly start walking around to get the hang of it. It took me a while to find the right rhythm of how to move my legs, and once I found it, I felt confident enough to look around and see where I am. I can see nearby that there is some kind of town. I decide to head there first to see if I can find anyone who can help me.

After walking for about 5 minutes, I reach the edge of town, only to discover it's full of horses! I see horses of many different colors, and even notice a few unicorns and pegasi walking around. O.k. This is weird. Where are the people? I think to myself. I walk into town, and as I do I see a pink blur run in front of me. It surprised me so much I almost fell over. I look over to where the blur stopped, and saw a pink pony, with a pink mane looking right at me.

“Um, hello?” I say to the pony. She looks at me for a few seconds, then all of a sudden lets out a giant gasp, then sprints off into the town. I must have had a puzzle look on my face, because an orange pony with a blonde mane and tail snuck up on me.

“Don't you worry 'bout Pinkie. She always acts this way t'wards newcomers. I'm Applejack. What's your name?” She said.

I turned to look at the pony and said, “Lucas.”

“Well, that's a strange name for a pony. Where ya from stranger?”

“Manhattan.” I said.

“Manehattan? Your a long way from home. What brings ya out to little old Ponyville?”

I think she pronounced Manhattan wrong. Oh well. “I don't really know. I just woke up in that field over there. I don't even know how I got here.”

She looked at me with a puzzled look, and put her hoof to her chin. “Hm. No idea how ya got here, huh? Maybe you should go see Twilight. She might be able ta help ya. She lives over in the library. You can see it from here.” She said, as he pointed towards a big tree near the middle of town. “Oh, and watch out for Pinkie. She gets real excited around new people.”

“Yeah, I noticed.” I said, and we both laughed.

“All right. I'll see ya later. I got some work to do.” And with that she walked away towards a farm.

Well, might as well go see this Twilight. Couldn't hurt. I walk around town until I reached the library. I knocked on the door and heard a voice on the other side say, “Just a second!”

A few seconds later the door was opened by a purple unicorn with a purple mane and pink streaks. “Hello. Can I help you?” She said.

“Um, Applejack said I could find you here. I was wondering if you could help me.” I said to the pony.

“Sure, come on in.” She said with a smile. I followed her into the house, and saw that the walls were covered in books, and a huge stack was on the table. “Here, let me clear the table so we have a place to sit.” Her horn lit up, and I saw all the books on the table glow a purple color and lift into the air. One by one the books were put in their place on the shelf. After the table was cleared, Twilight sat down. “Come. Sit. Tell me what you need.”

I sat down at the table and told her the whole story about how I got out of bed this morning go to school, how I get hit by a car, the mysterious voice, and how I woke up here in Ponyville. “Hm. Well I've never heard of something like this before. Maybe I should talk to the Princess about this.” She said, with a hoof to her chin.

“Who's the Princess?” I asked her. She looked at me as if I was the craziest person she has ever seen.

“Wow. You really must not be from here at all. Princess Celestia is the ruler of Equestria. She lives in the Canterlot Palace.”

“And you think she can help me?” I asked her.

“If she can't, then there's nothing we can do. I'll send word to her right away. Spike!” She yelled . A small purple dragon with green spikes came out a door behind Twilight.

“Yes Twilight?” He said.

“Take a letter. We need to send a message to the Princess right away!” Spike pulled out a piece of paper and quill, from what seemed like thin air. Don't ask me how, because I couldn't tell you. After Twilight read out what to write for Spike, he did something that surprised me. He blew fire on it!

“I thought you were sending that letter to the Princess. Why did he burn it?” I ask.

“It's how we send letters to her. My fire has the ability to send letters to the Princess, and receive them as well.” Said Spike. As soon as he finished his sentence, he had a bloated look on his face, and burped. A letter appeared in front of him. Spike opened it and read the contents. “To my dearest pupil Twilight. That sounds very interesting indeed. I would like to see this Lucas in two days time. Until then, I would like for you to show him around town and introduce him to your friends. Once you have done so, find a place for him to stay, and I will send someone to pick him up. Princess Celestia.”

“Well, I guess we better get going then. Let me just gather a few things before we head out.” said Twilight. She leaves the room and comes back a few minutes later with a saddlebag that seemed to have some books in it. “Alright, let's go.” She opened the door with her magic, and we left the library. I wonder what Twilights friends are like. Hopefully they aren't as weird as that Pinkie girl.

Chapter 2: Making New Friends

As me and Twilight are walking through Ponyville on our way to meet her friends, she points out a few places she thought I should remember, like Quills and Mattresses, Sugarcube Corner, and the Book Store. “First off we will go to Sweet Apple Acres. I'll introduce you to Applejack's family.” said Twilight.

“Alright.” I said to Twilight. After what seemed like only 5 minutes, we walk up to the gate of Sweet Apple Acres. The first thing I saw when we got there was the rows upon rows of apple trees. “Wow. That's a lot of apple trees.” I said, thinking out loud.

“Yes, there is a lot. Applejack and her big brother, Big Macintosh, run the place, as their names imply.” Just as she said this, a red pony with orange hair, only slightly taller than me and Twilight, walked past the gate.

“Eeyup.” Was all he said, in a low monotone voice, before he continued walking past us and into a row of apple trees. Twilight opened up the gate, and I followed her onto the property. We walked up to a large red barn 20 feet away. There, sitting in a rocking chair was on old pony, with an unkempt white mane, and matching tail.

“Well howdy there Twilight. You lookin' for Applejack?” Said the old pony. She seems a little off to me. But, who am I to judge.

“Yes, Granny Smith. Is she inside?” Twilight asked her.

“Yep. You go on in.” Said Granny Smith.

“Thanks Granny.” Said Twilight. I followed her into the barn, to find it was actually a pretty nice house. For some reason it seems a bit bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. Probably just the wallpaper. When we walked in, I saw Applejack coming out of the kitchen followed by a small yellow filly with red hair and a pink ribbon.

“But Applejack! I'm old enough to help you and Big Mac! I just no I am!” said the filly.

“Applebloom, I've told you before, and I'll say it again. You are too little!” Said Applejack. She was too busy arguing with me, she didn't see me there and bumped into me. “Oh, sorry. Hey, I remember you!” She looked at me and then Twilight. “I see you took my advice and went to see Twilight. So, have you found out how to fix your little problem?”

“No, but Twilight did send a letter off to the Princess. She said she want's to see me in a few days time, and until then, Twilight is to show me around town and find a place to stay.” I said to Applejack.

“Well, that's good! Maybe the Princess can help you. Since your new here, I'll introduce you to my family. This here filly, is my little sister Applebloom. Big Mac is probably out buckin' some apple trees. Maybe you saw him on the way in.”

“You mean the tall red pony with the low monotone voice?” I asked. “Yeah I saw him.”

“Good, good. And I see you met my Grandma, Granny Smith.” She pointed her head in her general direction. “And that's about everyone. Well, unless you count everyone who lives outta town.”

“It was nice to meet your family Applejack. I don't mean to rush you at all, but the daylight's burning and I'd like to meet everyone and go to bed. This whole experience has left me a little sleepy.” I said, trying to sound as nice as possible.

“Well then, why don't I just go with ya? I got nothin' else to do today, and I haven't visited our friends in quite a while!”

“Sounds great!” Said Twilight. “I'm sure everyone would like to see you.” After Applejack said goodbye to Applebloom and Granny Smith, we all headed out. “Next stop, the Carousel Boutique.” We exited out the same gate we came in from, and headed towards carousel boutique. Along the way, Twilight, Applejack and I were chatting, nothing worth mentioning in the story, when 10 feet ahead of us I saw a rainbow blur zoom past. I stopped in the middle of the path, and looked towards where the blur had stopped. There stood a blue pegasus with a rainbow mane and tail.

“Hey! Twilight! Applejack! Over here!” Yelled the pony. Twilight and Applejack both looked towards the pony, and started walking towards her.

“Hey there Rainbow Dash! Whatcha' up to.” Applejack said the the new pony.

“Nothing really. Just trying out my new Rainbow Barrel Somersault. I almost have it down, but I mess up a bit on the landing. Hey, whos this?” She said looking at me.

“I'm Lucas.” I said to Rainbow Dash.

“Strange name. So what are you guys up to?” She asked us all.

“Lucas is new in town. I'm showing him around town and introducing him to all our friends. Good thing we ran into you here. We were just about to go see Rarity.” Twilight said.

“Oh yeah?” She said. She looked at me, and said, with a grin on her face,“Be careful around Rarity. She might bore you to death. Well, you guys have fun. I'm gunna try to perfect this move.”

“O.K. See you later Rainbow.” Twilight said. As soon as Rainbow Dash took off into the sky, me, Twilight and Applejack returned on our path to Carousel Boutique. We finally reached the store, which looked, like the name suggest, a carousel. The only thing I didn't like about the place was there was too much pink. We walked up to the door and Applejack knocked on it. When the door opened, I saw a white unicorn with a perfectly brushed purple mane, wearing a pair of glasses, and some ribbon around her neck.

“Oh, Twilight. Applejack. How can I help you?” said the pony.

“Hi Rarity. I'd like you to meet Lucas. He's new in town, and I'm showing him around.” Twilight said.

“Oh. Hello Lucas. Say, you seem to be the perfect model for my new suit. Would you mind?” I didn't enjoy the idea of being a model, but since Twilight is helping me out, I decided to be nice and go along with it. I nodded, and followed her into the shop. Lining the floors were rolls of fabric, and ribbons. Laying on one of the multiple tables in the room was a white cat with a bow in her (I'm assuming her) hair. On one side of the wall I noticed a mirror. This piqued my curiosity. I haven't seen what I looked like yet! I walked over to the mirror and saw a dark blue unicorn, with a black mane and tail, both of which had a white stripe. Hm. I don't look too bad.

“Over here Lucas.” Said Rarity. I walked onto the stand she was standing by and allowed her to put the suit on me. “Hm. It's missing a little something. Ah! I have just the thing.” She then proceeded to levitate a pair of golden cufflinks onto the wrists of the suit. Once they are attached she seemed satisfied. “Not too bad. Makes you look good Lucas.” I thanked her and stepped off the stand, after she removed the suit.

“Well, we still have to introduce Lucas to Fluttershy. We should head there next.” I heard Applejack say to Twilight.

“Good idea. Come on Lucas! We should get going before it gets too dark. We'll see you later Rarity!” Said Twilight. After walking out the door, I heard Rarity yelling after us.

“Lucas! If you ever need any clothes made, don't be afraid to stop by and see me!”

“Alright! Bye Rarity!” I yelled back. We started heading towards a forest I could see in the distance. After walking for about 15 minutes, we reached a cottage on the edge of the forest. Outside was a cream colored pony with a pink mane and matching tail. I couldn't help but stare at her as she talked to the animals outside her home.

“Now, you eat that all, little birdy. You will need your strength if you want to feel better. And Angel Bunny. You need to finish eating your carrot before you can play.” She said in a quiet, soft voice. When she noticed us coming up the road, she stopped.

“Hi Fluttershy!” Applejack said. “Angel not co-operatin' again?”

“Um. No.” She said. She seemed like she was shying away from her a bit.

“Oh right. The new guy. This here is Lucas. He's new in town.” She said pointing at me. I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I don't know what it was, but something about her just made me feel so... warm. “Um, Lucas? You okay?” Applejack said waving her hoof in my face.

“Wha? Oh yeah. I'm alright.” I managed to say when I snapped back to reality. “Hi Fluttershy. Nice to meet you.” She shied away a bit more as I moved closer to her, and I heard her say something, but I couldn't quite make it out. “I'm sorry?” I said.

“ -eet you.” She said a little louder. I only caught the tail end of her sentence.

“I didn't quite catch that.” I said

“Nice to meet you.” She said just barely loud enough for me to hear. After a few seconds, I decided to break the tension a bit by starting a different conversation.

“So. You like animals I see?” Her reaction was almost immediate. Her attitude changed so quickly I was shocked.

“Oh yes. I love all animals. Rabbits, birds, squirrels, weasels. Just about anything. Except dragons. They scare me.” She said, sounding more confident.

“That's good. So do I.” I said, finding common ground with this breathtaking pony.

“Well, it's good you two found something in common.” Twilight said. “We were just about to head to Sugarcube Corner. Would you like to come Fluttershy?”

“Oh I don't know. I'm kind of busy.” Fluttershy said. I didn't want to quite leave yet.

“Please Fluttershy? I would like to have more friends to walk with.” I asked her, hoping she would say yes.

“Well.. alright. Let's go.” We all started walking back into town. When we were about to reach Sugarcube Corner, Fluttershy stopped. I noticed she stopped, as I had been talking to her the whole way there.

“Fluttershy? What's wrong?” I asked her.

“I just remembered. Your new in town.” She said.

“Yeah. So?” I said.

“Well, the thing is...”

“Lucas! Fluttershy! Come on!” We heard Twilight say, already at the door to the shop.

Fluttershy just shook her head, and said, “Nevermind. You'll see.” We caught up with Twilight and Applejack, waiting for us at the door to Sugarcube corner.

“Come on. You still have to meet Pinkie.” Applejack said as we were walking in the shop. Pinkie? Why does that sound familiar? As we walked in, the room was filled with ponys who yelled, “SURPRISE!!”.

“Hi! Remember me?! I saw you walking into town, and I was all GASP and ran away, because your new here. I knew you were new here because I know everypony in town! So I figured, why don't I throw you a party so you can make some friends, since because your new here, I figured you didn't have any friends in town! So, here you are at your party, I threw for you, so we can all be your friends!” Pinkie said all in one breath. Oh yeah. Pinkie. I remember now.

Chapter 3: A Place to Stay

“Hi Pinkie. Thanks for the party. It's nice to be able to meet everyone at once. Saves a lot of time.” I said to Pinkie Pie, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. I'm not much of a party person.

“Good! You should have lots and lots of fun! I throw the best parties in ALL of Equestria! We have plenty of food, drinks, and my favorite party game, Pin the Tail on the Pony!” She said excitedly.

“Sounds like fun. If you don't mind, I would like to mingle a bit. Make some new friends.” I said, trying to get away from her. All that excitement made me a little nervous.

“Okie dokie lokie! Have fun!” She said, then hopped away. I made my way to the food table, weaving my way through the crowd, because I realized I hadn't eaten all day. When I got to the table I saw it was filled with cupcakes, cake and other assorted sweets at one end, and a bubbling purple liquid, which I assumed was soda of some kind, at the other end. I went to eat a purple iced cupcake when someone quietly cleared their voice behind me. I turned around to see Fluttershy standing there, with a shy expression on her face. Hm. She always seems to be a bit nervous.

“Um. Hi Lucas.” She said.

“Hey Fluttershy. What's on your mind?” I said to her.

“Um. Twilight was talking about how you need a place to stay for a couple days until the Princess needs to see you. You can stay at my house... if you want.” She said, more shy than usual. More time with Fluttershy? How can I resist!

“Sure. I'd love to. Maybe I can make some new animal friends as well.” I said. I turned back to the table, to eat my cupcake, and noticed it was gone. Oh man.

“Oh. Sorry Lucas. Rainbow kind of ate your cupcake while you were talking to me.” Fluttershy said. “Since your coming home with me, I can make you something to eat. I'm an excellent cook.”

“Sounds good. Let's go find the others.” I said. She nodded her head, and we made our way back into the crowd to find the rest of the group. We found Twilight, Applejack and Rainbow Dash by a poster that had a tailless pony on the other side of the room chatting.

“Oh, there you are Fluttershy! We were beginning to wonder where you ran off to.” Twilight said as we approached. “I see you found Lucas. We were just discussing where Lucas should stay while hes here.”

“I think Rainbow knows where we were.” I said looking at her, with a suspicious look. She still had purple icing on her lip. “And as for the living arrangements, Fluttershy asked me to stay with her.” Everyone had a surprised look on their face, as if I was speaking gibberish.

“Fluttershy? She actually asked you, on her own, to come live with her? Wow. I haven't seen her be so.. brave, since that dragon incident last year.” Applejack said. Fluttershy seemed to be blushing a little bit.

“Oh. Well, you see...” Fluttershy started to say, then suddenly we heard Pinkie yelling across the room.

“IT'S TIME FOR PIN THE TAIL ON THE PONY!” She screamed loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, even over all the chatter. She then seemed to randomly pop in through the crowd a second later. How the hell did she get over here so fast? “Lucas! Your the guest of honor. You should go first!”

“Um. Sure. How hard can it be?” Alright. I regret saying this already. Before I knew it, Pinkie blindfolded me and started spinning me in a circle. After 3 spins, she put a “tail” in my mouth and straightened me out. I started walking forwards, almost falling over from being so dizzy. I eventually felt something in front of me, so I pushed in the pin, and heard a loud yelp. I took off my blindfold to see I accidentally pinned another pony in the flank. He looked at me angrily and walked away. I turned around to see both Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash laughing. “Glad you find this funny you two.”

“Haha, sorry Lucas. I've just never seen anypony do that before. It's kind of funny!” Pinkie said.

“I bet that guy didn't think it was so funny.” I said, then started to laugh. “Well, what now?”

“Party is over! Everyone is leaving.” Pinkie said. I looked to see that indeed, everyone was leaving, and the room was half empty.

“Well, I guess it's time to go home. If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask Lucas.” Twilight said, heading for the door.

“Yeah. It is what friends are for.” Applejack said, following suit. I said my goodbyes to Pinkie, and turned to Fluttershy.

“Well, I supposed we should head home too.” I said to her. We both left the shop, and headed towards the cottage. As we reached the cottage, I noticed a white rabbit standing in front of her door. He had his arms crossed, and was tapping his foot.

“Oh, Angel. You knew we had a party to go to. I told you we would be out late.” Fluttershy said, trying to calm him down. “This is Lucas. He will be staying with us for a while.” Angel looked at me, back at Fluttershy, then shook his head. “Angel. I said it's okay, so he WILL be staying.” He looked at me once more, sighed, and went inside. “Sorry about Angel. He doesn't really like strangers. Come on inside. I'll make you something to eat.” She went inside, and I followed her. The inside of her house was amazing. It felt like we actually lived inside a tree. It even had the wood smell. Not too bad.

“Do you like sandwiches?” Fluttershy asked me.

“Yes.” I answered back.

“Good. I'll bring you some in just a second. Sit down, make yourself at home.”

“Thanks.” I sat down at her table, with tree stump chairs. Tree theme. Not the worst I guess. A couple minutes later, she came and sat down, handing me a plate with 2 sandwiches on it. Are those flowers? I don't know about this. I picked one up, and took a bite. I was utterly amazed. I never realized flowers could taste so good. It must be a pony thing. “Mmm. This is delicious. I must admit, I wasn't sure about the flowers, being a human and all.”

“I'm glad you enjoy it. Told you I was a great cook.” She said with a smile. Over the next few minutes, we talked about what life in Equestria was like, and Fluttershy told me most of the history that she thought I would need to know, like Pegasus control the weather, and live in Cloudsdale. She told me how Princess Celestia and her younger sister Luna, previously an evil pony called Nightmare Moon, control the sun and the moon, and have the power over light and day. She also explained how unicorns have to ability to use magic. This had me intrigued.

“Magic? Does that mean I can use it too?” I asked, hoping that I could. It would be interesting.

“Hm. I'm not sure. You are a unicorn, but you weren't born one. I guess it's certainly possible. You should go see Twilight in the morning. If any would know, it's her.” She said.

“Great. Thanks Fluttershy.” I said. I yawned, longer than I'd hoped. “I'm pretty tired. It's been a busy day. Can you show me where I am sleeping?”

“Of course. Follow me.” I followed fluttershy to a door on the other side of the room. “I usually use this room to house injured animals, but you can use it for now.” She opened the door, and walked in. I followed her into the room. I looked around and saw there were 2 beds, each with a nightstand, and a decent sized window on the opposited wall, looking out into a forest. “Just choose a bed. Either one will do.”

“Thank you Fluttershy. I appreciate you letting me stay here.” I gave her a quick hug, and let her go. She was blushing pretty badly now.

“Um. Y-your welcome. H-have a g-good night.” She said nervously and ran back to the living room. I smiled, closed the door, and laid down on one of the beds. I think I'm going to like it here. I slowly drifted off to sleep, thinking of what tomorrow had in store for me.

~~~ Fluttershy's P.O.V. ~~~
I ran into the room, feeling embarrassed. I saw Angel standing there looking at me.
“Am I still blushing?” I asked Angel. He nodded and laughed. “Oh man. I don't know why, but around Lucas I feel... strange. Like I have no need to be scared around him. Like I can trust him with my life, and he belongs here, even though he is human. What does this mean Angel?” He gave me a look that seemed to say, it should be pretty obvious. “Do you think I am... developing feelings for him? I've just met him today! I don't understand. Maybe I should just go to bed, and think more about it tomorrow. Yes, that is what I'll do. Good night Angel.” I went to my room and laid on my bed. I sure hope he likes it here. I slowly drifted off to sleep, thinking of what tomorrow had in store for me.
A/N: I decided to add that last bit of story about Fluttershy's P.O.V to see what everyone would think of it. If you like this, or not, tell me in the comments.
Chapter 4: Magic Lessons
I woke in the morning to a bright light in my eyes. Ah, damn. That hurts. I covered my eyes with my arm, trying to stop the blinding light from hurting me further. I slowly moved my arm away to see that the sun was just rising over the forest, and was aligned perfectly to wake me. Well, who needs alarm clocks? I got out of bed, and walked into the living room. Fluttershy was asleep on the couch, with Angel on the floor next to her. I quietly made my way towards the door so I wouldn't wake her. I was just out of arms reach of the door, when I heard rustling behind me. I turned to around to see Fluttershy waking up, and rubbing her eyes sleepily. She looks cute when she's half asleep.
“Lucas? Where are you going?” She asked me, sounding tired still.
“I'm going to see Twilight. I want to see if I can learn magic.” I replied. “I tried not to wake you. Go back to sleep. I'll be back soon, and then we can go do something later, if you want.”
“No, no. I'm awake now. Besides, I have to go check on Elizabeak, and my other animal friends.”
“Who is Elizabeak?” I asked her.
“My pet chicken.” She replied.
“Oh. Clever. All right. I'll see you later Fluttershy.” I said heading for the door.
“Lucas, wait.”
I turned around to face her. “Yes?”
“Um. Nevermind.” She said, blushing and turning away as she said it.
“Okay? Bye.” I turned back towards the door, and left. I wonder what that was all about? I started walking towards the library, to see if Twilight was able to teach me the wonders of magic.
~~ Fluttershy's P.O.V ~~
I watched Lucas walk towards the library through the window. I turned to Angel, and saw he was still asleep by the couch.
“Oh, why couldn't I tell him? I always have to be so nervous. Maybe there is another way? I guess I will have to think about it over breakfast.” I said to myself. I walked into the kitchen to make myself something to eat. I decided on a salad, and started to make one. I brought it to the table and started to eat, thinking about what I should do. Well, he did say we could do something later. Maybe a picnic?
~~ Lucas' P.O.V ~~
I knocked on the library door, and heard Spike on the other side. “I'll get it!” He said, followed by a loud thump. He opened the door, and I saw a pile of books spread all over the floor. “Oh. Hi Lucas. What can I do for you?” He asked.
“I'm here to see Twilight. I have a favor to ask of her. Is she around?” I said to him.
“Yeah. She's in the other room. Come on in.” I followed Spike into the library and sat down on the same chair I was in only yesterday. “Twilight! Lucas is here to see you!” He yelled out. A couple of seconds later, Twilight poked her head out of the other room.
“Hi Lucas. I'll be right there. I have a few things to pick up first.” She said, then went back into the room. A couple minutes later she came out of the room, and dusted off her hooves. “So, what can I do for you Lucas?”
“I was wondering if you could teach me how to use magic. Fluttershy told me that unicorns can use it, and seeing as how I'm apparently a unicorn now, I wanted to see if I could use it too.” I explained to her.
“Well, I supposed it's worth a shot. Okay. Let's start with something easy. A levitation spell. It is the most basic spell a unicorn can use. Clear your mind, and listen carefully.” I followed her instructions, and cleared my head. She placed a book on the table in front of me. “Focus on this book. Imagine you are creating a bubble around it.” The book seemed to glow a faint blue color. “Good. Now imagine it floating into the air in front of you.” As I did, the glow seemed to get brighter, and it started to rise, even though it only moved half an inch. “Try harder. You need to lift it higher.” I imagined it lifting higher and higher, and eventually it was high enough to be straight ahead of me. Almost as quickly as it started to float, it dropped and hit the table with a loud thud.
“What just happened?” I asked twilight, surprisingly out of breath.
“Your magic isn't too strong. You only had it in the air for a couple seconds, and you are already tired. Strange. Maybe because it's you weren't born a unicorn. Do you need a break?” She asked.
“No. I want to try again. Now that I know I can do it, I want to get better.” I said confidently. (Well, as best as I could being out of breath.)
Twilight gave me a skeptical look, and said, “If you insist. Try again.” I practiced my magic for the next two ours. I eventually got to the point where I could keep the book in the air, and turn the pages at the same time. By the end, I was exhausted. I never knew magic could be so tiring. “Okay. I think that is enough for today. I'm afraid if you try anymore, you will pass out. Go home and rest. You've earned it.” (Slight Oblivion reference. If you catch it, please say you did in comments :P)
“Thanks..... Twilight.” I said, barely able to breath. I stood up, and slowly made my way towards the door. I opened the door, and started to head back to Fluttershy's, hoping I could breathe by the time I got there.
By the time I reached the cottage, I was able to breathe. I opened the door, and saw the place was empty. “Hello? Fluttershy? You home?” I yelled into the house. No answer. She must be out. I walked into the kitchen, and saw a note on the counter. “Lucas. Meet me on the edge of the forest. I need to speak to you about something. I have food. I know you haven't eaten anything yet today. Fluttershy.” I read out loud. What does she have to tell me? And why at the edge of the forest? I left the kitchen, and out the front door. I walked around the house towards the edge of the forest. I saw a slight glow coming through the trees. I headed towards it, and on closer inspection, I saw it was a campfire. Sitting beside it on a clichè red and white checkered picnic blanket, with a wooden picnic basket, was Fluttershy. She was looking into the fire, so she didn't see me approaching.
“You wanted to see me?” I said. She jumped at the sound of my voice.
“Lucas! You scared me. Yes, there is something I wish to tell you. Please sit.” She said calmly. I sat down next to her, and waited for her to speak. “I usually don't do anything so... rash, but around you I feel like I can do anything. So here goes. Lucas, I think I have feelings for you. When your around, I don't feel so shy, or nervous. Just being around you makes me want to be brave. Nopony has ever made me feel like this, and I'm sure you are the only one who can.” Wow. She was brave enough to tell me how she feels. I started to laugh, and I saw her tear up a bit. “Why are you laughing at me?!” She screamed, and started to cry. I put one hoof to her face, and turned it towards me.
“I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at me. I knew nothing about this world, and felt like I shouldn't be here. But as soon as I saw you, I knew this is where I should be, no matter what. I was afraid, that my feelings for you would go unnoticed, but I was going to tell you eventually. I'm just glad you feel the same way as me. I was afraid that if I told you how I felt, and you rejected me, that I would lose a friend. I'm also laughing, because I wanted to tell you first, but shy little you, had the courage to speak your mind, knowing that there was a possibility it would be for the worst. I love you, Fluttershy. And I hope you feel the same.” I leaned in towards her, and she towards me. It was awkward at first, since I was new to the pony life, but I got used to it, and had my first, and most amazing kiss. This is definitely where I belong. I love it here.
Chapter 5: Meeting The Princess
I awoke the next morning, to the sun beating down on me. I attempted to sit up, but it felt like something was on top of me. I looked down, and saw Fluttershy fast asleep, laying on my chest. I couldn't help but smile, and gave up trying to stand. I relaxed, and put my head back onto the blanket we were laying on. Man. Last night was amazing. I never thought I would find a girlfriend, let alone a horse! But, for some reason, it just feels right. Before I knew it, I was asleep again.
I awoke to someone lightly shaking me. I opened my eyes, and saw Fluttershy standing above me. I smiled, and slowly stood up, my body still half asleep.
“Good morning.” She said with a smile on her face. “Sleep well? I sure know I did.”
“Yeah. Thanks for asking. So, does this make you my girlfriend?” I asked her.
She giggled. “I think you mean marefriend. And only if you want me to be.” She looked at the ground, and started kicking at the ground. I walked up to her, and pulled her into a hug.
“Of course I do. Like I told you last night, I love you.” I let her go, and she had the biggest smile on her face. Even bigger than Pinkie's I think.
“Well, then I guess I am your marefriend. So, new coltfriend, what are your plans for today?”
“Well, sometime today, someone is coming to pick me up to bring me to the palace. I have to meet with the Princess. Want to come with?”
“Oh, I dunno. I get really nervous around the Princess.” She said, looking a little embarrassed.
“Alright. If you change your mind, let me know. What do you say to breakfast? My turn to cook this time?” I said, grabbing her hoof, and leading her to the house.
“Okay.” We made our way into the house. She sat down at the table, and I walked into the kitchen. Alright. Let's see what we got here. Bread, lettuce, hay, daisies, some vegetables here and there. I say we experiment a little. A few minutes later, Fluttershy poked her head around the corner to see what was taking me so long.
“Oh my Celestia!” She screamed. Can't say I blame her. I don't know how I managed it, but the room was a complete mess. Tomatoes were smashed off the walls, leaves of lettuce were all over the floor, and the oven was smoking heavily. “What happened in here?!”
“Um. I guess I can't really cook....” I trailed off, looking around the room. I was expecting her to be mad, but she just laughed.
“Well, we can't have you not knowing how to cook, now can we? Let's get this place cleaned up, and I'll show you.” We spent the rest of the morning cleaning the kitchen, and teaching me how to cook.
“Man, these hayburgers are delicous. I never knew it was that easy to cook.” I said, glad with the food we made. As soon as we finished our breakfast, there was a knock at the door. “I'll get it.” I walked over to the door, and opened it. Standing in the door way was a tall white pegasus, wearing golden armor and helmet.
“Are you Lucas?” He asked me.
“Yes? Can I help you?”
“We are here to take you to see the Princess. Please, come with me.” He said, then turned around and headed for a chariot in front of the house, which was being pulled with 2 identical looking pegasi.
I turned to Fluttershy and said, “Are you sure you don't want to come with me?”
“Yes. Go. I'll be here when you return.” She said. I gave her a hug and kiss goodbye, then followed the pegasus to the carriage. I climbed in, and we took off into the sky. After a good flight, we reached a castle made of pure white stone. We landed in front of it, and I climbed out onto the pathway leading into it. I quickly made my way into the castle. Inside, was a tall white pony, with rainbow colored hair which seemed to flow endlessly, even though we were inside, with no wind.
“Hello. You must be Lucas.” She said to me.
“I am. And you are?” I asked her.
“Oh of course, where are my manners. My name is Princess Celestia. This is my castle. Welcome.”
“Thank you.” Well, at least she is polite.
“So, Twilight tells me you are a human?”
“Yes. I died in my world, and I arrived here.”
“Interesting. Tell me. What do you think of Equestria?”
“I like it here. I've already made a lot of friends, much more than I have made in the real world, and in only a couple days I did what I couldn't do my whole life as a human.”
“And what was that?” She asked, seeming very curious.
“I got a marefriend.” I answered her.
“Oh? And who is this marefriend of yours? Do I know her?”
“I believe you do. It's Fluttershy.” She started to laugh, but not in a mean condescending way.
“Well, it seems Fluttershy actually found enough courage to find a coltfriend. Good for her. So I take it you do not wish to return home? Because if you do, I can make that happen.” She stated.
“No. I think I would like to stay.” I couldn't leave Fluttershy. I care too much about her. She nodded her head in approval.
“I see. Well, then in that case, I believe our business here is complete. The guards will bring you back home, when you are ready.”
“Thank you Princess. I will be leaving now.” I turned around, and headed back out into the yard. I climbed aboard the chariot, and headed home.
~~~~~ Celestia's P.O.V. ~~~~~~

Luna came down the stairs, just after Lucas left the room. “There is something different about that pony.” She said, sounding a little worried. “But I can't quite place my hoof on it.”

“I agree, dear sister. For some reason, I couldn't read his mind. His thoughts were barred from my vision.”

“But, that's not possible. You can read everyones thoughts at will. What does this mean?”

“I don't know, but hopefully it isn't as bad as I fear.” I then turned, and headed for the library, to see if there was anything I could find out about these strange events.
