I know it's been a long time since I posted anything, and me doing this is probably confusing. I'm trying to get back into the basics of my story writing. And I thought the best way to do that was by going back to the beginning where it all started for me. To make things clear, this story is a re-write.

Chapter 1

Hi. My name is Levi. This is the story of how my whole life changed forever. My days seem to start and end the same lately; I wake up, go to work, come home, watch some T.V. with dinner, go back to sleep. Occasionally I would turn on my PS5 and play with the few friends I still have from High School. And I used to be big on gaming. I would be the guy you see at a midnight release waiting for the next installment of Pokémon or something. Although, lately I haven’t exactly had the motivation to enjoy games as much as I used to… or the time for that matter. By the time I get home from work, I’m usually already tired. Things just haven't been the same since my mother passed away almost 2 years ago now.

I won’t get too much into detail about that though. For a while it’s been just me and my dad alone in a huge house that could hold a family of five easily. My older brothers are married, as well as my older sister so obviously they wouldn't stick around in that house. Eventually my father did remarry, and thankfully seems happy with this new woman. But admittedly there are times where I would see him staring at old photos and start breaking down again. And if I saw him do it, I’d usually do the same. After the wedding, things seemed to feel normal again for a little while. There’s even been talk about us moving to a smaller house. They knew they wouldn’t be able to have kids anymore, so they figured it was pointless to stay in this enormous house. And honestly, I agreed with them.

The days went on and my father, step mother, and I would start getting things ready around the house to get it in a more sellable condition. I even started helping with painting the walls. One day, we were getting low on paint, and there was still a lot to do…

“Levi, can you go to your work to get us some more paint? I told you two gallons wasn’t enough.” Dad huffed.

“Well you weren’t exactly sure yourself, you know.” My step mother added in.

“It’s fine. It’s not that far of a drive, so it’s no big deal.” Levi chuckled a bit, rubbing the back of his head. “What was the name of the color again?”

“Gray Owl. Eggshell base.” Dad answered before tossing his credit card to Levi. “And get another 2 gallons. That should be enough.”

Levi rolled his eyes a bit, catching the card. “You got it.” he says, heading out the door.

“And drive safely!” Levi’s stepmom added.

Levi sort of just sweat dropped at that. “I’m 28. I think I should be fine.” he chuckled.

“I know you are fine. I’m referring more to the idiots on the road.” She said, crossing her arms a bit.

Levi chuckled at that. “Alright, I’ll be careful.”

“Love you, sweetie.” She smiled at Levi.

Levi looked at her step mother for a moment, hesitant to answer at first. "Yeah… love you too." he said as he walked out. Not with a sad face but more unsure.

Of course his step mother took notice of this and just sighed. "What's wrong?" Levi’s father asked her.

"I don't know. I just don't feel like he's warmed up to me completely yet." She said, looking more concerned than anything.

"...He will eventually. As sad as it is to say, he was a lot closer to his mother than he was with me.” Levi’s dad said, rubbing the back of his head. “I know how he acts around us, but I can tell he’s holding his emotions back.”

“He’s bottling up his emotions?” The stepmother asked, looking concerned.

“It’s the only thing I can think of to explain how he’s acting now. He used to be a lot more energetic. Now he mostly keeps to himself… barely even sees his friends anymore.”

“Well, isn’t there something we can do? I hate to know that he’s this upset.” She asked, somewhat in a pleading tone.

“All we can really do is be there for him as we can…”

Levi was currently driving toward his work to pick up the paint. His mind wasn’t focused on the road however. In fact it was sort of in autopilot as other thoughts were running through his mind. Why did I hesitate when I said that? I know she cares about me and she’s been genuinely kind to me and my family since she met Dad. Am I just that afraid of moving on? He thought, for a moment. Maybe there’s something I can do to make it up to her. Maybe take her out to Texas Roadhouse and pay for both our meals… or maybe we could see a movie. It would be a start at lea–

Suddenly there was a loud beep that took Levi out of autopilot abruptly. “Shit!” He shouted, hitting the breaks, nearly rear ending the person in front of him. He panted heavily, catching his breath. “That was–”

And without warning, Levi was rear ended himself; causing him to slam into the person in front of him. The force of the impact caused him to pass out behind the wheel.

Eventually, Levi found himself waking up to a bright light. When his vision became clearer. He took in his surroundings and saw that he was in a hospital. Upon further inspection, he could also see that he was lying in a hospital bed. The moment he tried getting up, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. “Easy there, young man.” A man said coming into the room… he looked like he was a doctor.

“What happened?” Levi asked, holding his chest.

“Well you were in a pretty rough accident.” The doctor answered. “No serious injuries however. A couple of broken ribs, but nothing life threatening.”

“In that case, I’d like to check out please.” Levi took a deep breath, groaning in pain as he sat up.

“Check out? Young man, your car has been totalled… and on top of that, I recommend you stay at least one night to recuperate and–”

“I’m fine.” Levi said, cutting the doctor off. “I’ll call an Uber or something and get going.”

“Well… I suppose you could but I had already reached out to your father.” The doctor finally said.

“W-What!? How do you even know who he is!?” Levi exclaimed in a panic.

“He was on the top of your emergency contact list.” He responded. “Why are you so worried about him knowing you’re here?”

Levi just took a deep breath. “Nothing… forget it.”

The doctor raised an eyebrow at that but shrugged. “Well, it’s none of my business… your father should be here shortly. Please try to relax.”

Levi just groaned before laying back. My family was paranoid enough as it was… now they’re probably gonna try to force me to hitch rides with them.

About 20 minutes or so passed. Levi eventually saw the panicked expressions of his father and stepmother. “Levi! What in the world happened??” His stepmother exclaimed, getting closer. Not angrily but more so with a look of worry on her face.

“I’m fine… just some idiot on the road wasn’t paying attention.” I wasn’t completely focused myself but I wasn’t gonna tell them that part.

“Ugh…!” She groaned. “You see what I mean?? So many people on the road these days don’t even deserve a license!”

“As I told Levi, he hasn’t suffered from any life threatening injuries. Just some broken ribs…” The doctor said to Levi’s father and Stepmother.

“How long will he need to stay?” Dad asked the doctor.

“Well… he tells me he doesn’t want to stay. And we can’t force them to stay either.” The doctor says, taking a deep breath. “Though if he truly does want to return home, I would at least advise you to take a few days out of work.”

“But it’s not like I’m doing any heavy lifting. I’m sitting behind a counter all day.” Levi retorted.

“I don’t know, Levi. I think he has a point… you have some off time, right? Plus I think you could really use the time off to reduce some of your stress.” His Stepmother says.

Levi just looks to the side, thinking for a moment. I guess it would allow us more time together. “...Alright. I’ll take some time off from work.” He huffed.

After some more time spent in the hospital, and some annoying paperwork filled out, Levi and his parents returned home. Not too much was said after that day. And unfortunately for the step mother, the next few days at home were still rather quiet. Rather than talking, he would be seen reading on his computer. She couldn't tell what it was but decided not to press on the subject. What Levi was reading however was fanfiction… one he admittedly was a little embarrassed about. A My Little Pony fanfiction. His dad knew he was big into the Brony community at some point, but after the show died down with the season finale, he found that Levi didn't really do anything with My Little Pony anymore… or at least he did so little to the point where he didn't even notice. Occasionally Levi would find himself reading older fanfiction from the early days of the community. Past Sins. Fallout Equestria… but one he truly enjoyed was the story "My Little Dashie". He couldn't help but smile every time he read it, or watched the fan animation for it. It was one of those stories that made him go… "Man… I wonder what it would be like for me if I was in this guy's position?" And at the same time, it sort of saddened him because he knew it wasn't possible. It was just a cartoon after all. "I do wish it was real though."

With that thought in mind, he just took a deep breath before looking at the clock on his computer. "11:09 PM. Ugh… I should really get some sleep." He says, stretching his arms, but doubles over a bit, feeling a pain in his chest still. "Stupid car accident. I hope I can get a replacement car soon." He says, putting his computer in sleep mode. He stood up and walked over to his bed, laying down in it. He would lay in it for a minute with his eyes shut. Complete silence for one minute… and then another.

Suddenly out of nowhere, a loud thunder strike could be heard outside, startling the young man. "A thunderstorm? Seriously?? I don't remember seeing that in the weather today." He groaned, holding his head. "...Crap, did Dad leave his window open?" With that thought, he winced as he quickly got out of bed. He put his coat and shoes on, grabbing his fathers keys before walking outside. He did see that the window was in fact cracked open. "Seriously, Dad?" He huffed, remote starting the car and going in to close all the windows completely. Without another word, he closed and locked the door again before making his way back to the house.

As he was walking, however, he paused. He noticed a somewhat dim light flickering in the distance. He noticed the light was coming from his father's shed. "What?... Is someone in our shed??" He asked as he began slowly walking over to the small shed. As he got closer, he noticed something seemed off. "...Is that light… purple?" He asked, seeing the purple light continue to flicker, as if it was a weak or dying light.

When he finally opened the door, Levi looked around but found that he didn't look too long. His eyes were quickly focused on something he never thought or imagined he'd see in his entire life. It was a purple unicorn filly who looked startled as she looked up at the man. And it wasn't just any unicorn. He could tell… this was Twilight. The actual Twilight Sparkle! Granted she showed no signs of having a cutie mark but it was impossible to mistake that mane style and color. "Uh… hi there." He says, lightly waving at the purple unicorn.

Twilight stared at Levi for a moment, looking over him quizzically… seems even at the age of a filly, Twilight remained the same.

"Do you know where you are?" Levi asked. Twilight simply shook her head… She can understand me at least. "Do you have a name?" This time Twilight raised a hoof to say something. But as she did, she immediately looked down. After a moment of thinking, she finally shook her head. So she lost her memory… just like Rainbow Dash did in that story. "Alright… how about I take you into my home for now?" At this, Twilight's eyes widened a bit and she looked to the side nervously, looking unsure. "It's okay. I promise you'll love it!" He says, smiling at her slightly. "Plus… I'd feel bad leaving you out here in the rain." At this, Twilight gave Levi another unsure glance before finally nodding in agreement. With that, Levi knelt down to the young filly, gently picking her up. Twilight seemed to squirm at first, but eventually calmed down. "It's really late… we better get to my room before my parents notice." Levi says, finally heading back into the house. Upon entering, Twilight immediately went into curiosity mode; looking over everything in my house. From the furniture, all the way down to the moldings on the wall. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. He chuckled a bit. Eventually he finally reached his room. Thankfully with no one taking notice that he went outside. He then placed the filly Twilight onto his bed.

And right away, several thoughts were racing through his mind. How is this happening…? How is this even remotely possible?? I'm thankful I was trusted to be given this chance but… can I really take care of a Unicorn? How will this work with my work schedule? Will I have enough money for food or– He paused, noticing Twilight's unsure look again. …I suppose I should at least start by giving Twilight her name. "So… I'm not exactly sure where you come from, so until I do figure that out, I'll be taking care of you for the time being." Once again, Twilight raised an unsure eyebrow but slowly nodded. "My name is Levi. And… I guess I should really give you a name, huh? How aboooout… Twilight?" Twilight wasn't sure why but she smiled when she heard the name, quickly nodding her head. "You like that name?"

"...Twi…light!" Twilight let out smiling.

Levi couldn't help but laugh a bit at that. "Twilight it is then."

The next morning eventually came. The sun was shining through his window right onto Levi's eyes. He groaned a bit as he slowly sat up on his– "N-Nnnng!" he groaned as he felt a sharp pain on his chest. When he looked, he saw that Twilight had been resting on top of him. Or at least she was until she heard Levi grunt in pain. She quickly got off and looked at Levi with confusion clear in her expression. Levi couldn't help but stare for a moment. I guess… it really wasn't a dream. He thought. He smiled at Twilight. "Sorry if I scared you Twilight. I was just a little hurt, that's all."

"Sorry…" Twilight said, looking to the side now feeling bad.

"Hey, don't feel bad. You didn't know." He says, picking up Twilight gently. "Come on, let's get something to eat."

"...Okay." Twilight answered.

Hmmm… Twilight is answering me but it seems like her vocabulary is limited… I suppose I'll have to help her with that first. Levi thinks as he walks out of his room. Looking around, he saw that his parents weren't awake yet. Let’s see… What should I feed her? She’s obviously very young but not so young to the point she needs to rely on milk alone. He thinks for a moment. If I remember correctly, the ponies in the show did eat things humans ate to a degree, as well as things ponies in real life normally eat; Hay, plant life, etcetera. Maybe I can get some daisies outside, clean them off a bit and then make it into a sandwich. He smiled at the thought before heading outside.

When they got outside, Twilight couldn’t help but go into curiosity mode again as she took in her surroundings of the backyard. Did she only just appear last night? I guess that would be a reasonable explanation as to why it seems like she doesn’t recognize anything. Levi walked over to the first patch of daisies he could find. Before picking up a whole bunch, he would just take one and hold it up to Twilight to see how she’d react first. Her initial reaction was pretty humorous. Her eyes squinted, looking like she was calculating things in her head as she looked over the daisy. “It’s supposed to be food, Twilight.” Levi says, holding back the urge to laugh.

Twilight looked up at Levi for a moment. “Food?” She asks, tilting her head.

“Here, watch me.” Levi says, looking at the daisy for a moment. No matter how weird this tastes, I better not spit it out while she’s looking… would give Twilight the wrong idea. He huffed a bit before taking a bite out of the daisy. “Mmm… See?” He says, clearly looking a bit distressed from just chomping on a flower. This time Twilight was the one that started laughing. "What's so funny?" Levi asked the giggling Twilight before taking another daisy. “Here, you’ll probably like it more than me.” He chuckled, holding it in front of Twilight. She looked over it again but rather than wait, she would slowly take a bite into the daisy herself. As she did, her eyes widened a bit before she started munching it more, obviously enjoying it. “Glad you like it.” Levi chuckled a bit before spitting out the piece he had in his mouth when Twilight wasn’t looking. "Well, I was thinking of making you a daisy sandwich. That sound good?" At that, Twilight nodded happily, finishing the daisy she already had. “Great.” He says, gently putting Twilight down to let her walk. As he was going around gathering daisies, it seemed like Twilight couldn’t help but try gathering daisies as well. She wasn’t good with her magic yet, so the only thing she could really do was gather them with her mouth.

It didn’t take long to gather what they needed. When they were done, they went back inside and headed straight for the kitchen. Levi knelt down and grabbed the daisies from Twilight. And of course, as curious as she’s been so far, she would watch Levi intently as he prepared the food for her. It was something simple. But at the same time, Levi’s never made a sandwich with daisies before, so it was still somewhat strange to him. Regardless, he eventually did get it done. Since Twilight needed help eating, he proceeded to feed the sandwich to her, and naturally she enjoyed it very much.

When she was finished, Levi finally started making his own breakfast; Eggs with toast. As he cooked, Twilight was on the counter, trying to lean in closer next to the frying pan. “Ah! Ah! Ah!” Levi let out, pulling Twilight away. “I know you’re curious, but that’s too hot.”

Twilight was a little confused at first but made sure to stay away from the pan. As she was watching Levi cook, she jumped slightly at the sudden sound of the coffee maker coming to life. “Huh?” Twilight let out.

“It’s just the coffee machine, Twilight.” Levi answered… His eyes slowly widened in realization. “That means my parents are coming down soon!” He says in a panicked tone. He would quickly finish cooking the eggs and he put them on a plate along with the toast he made. He grabs that plate and the coffee, about to quickly bring them over to his step mother before suddenly being met up by the woman in question. “A-Ah! Regina!”

His step mother looked at Levi a little surprised. “Oh! Levi, I didn’t know you were up already.”

“W-Well, I was thinking I’d take the chance to make you breakfast this time and bring it to you in bed!” Levi stammered a bit.

“Breakfast in bed?” Regina asked, looking even more surprised. “Oh I haven’t done that in years. But you don’t need to trouble yourself, sweetie.”

“Really, I insist!” Levi says, handing the plate and coffee to Regina.

“O-Oh, okay but what about your father?” She asked, somewhat taken back.

“Making his breakfast next. No need to worry. Will be done in a few minutes!” He says, leading her back to her bedroom with Dad. He took a deep breath before quickly going back to the kitchen. “That was close…” He let out. However, as he looked around, it seemed like the purple unicorn filly was nowhere to be seen. “Twilight?” He asked, looking around for her. “Twilight??” He called out.

“Levi…??” Regina’s voice could be heard from her room.

“Nnng… coming!” Levi answered, quickly going back to their room. He opened the door, walking inside. “Yes Regin– AH!” he yelped. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest when he suddenly saw Twilight was sitting in the bed with my dad.

“We were about to check on you to see why you were acting so strange…” Regina said, staring at Twilight, “...But I think I already got my answer. Levi, what were you thinking when you decided to take care of a little horse!”

“A-actually they’re a pony.” Levi corrected, only getting a stare from both Regina and his dad. “Right, not the point. Look, I found her in the shed last night during the storm that was going on. She was all alone and I didn’t just wanna leave her out there.

“”But she must have a family. One I’m sure is probably worried about her right now.” Regina said.

“Why is she purple though?” Levi’s dad asked. “Is she sick or something?”

“No, she’s not sick. That’s just how she is naturally.” Levi answered.

“Naturally…? But there’s nothing natural about this.” Levi’s dad replied. “And what’s with this bump on her head?” He asked, about to touch Twilight’s horn. However, Twilight flailed her hooves in response to keep them away.

“I don’t think they like that.” Regina says, sitting beside Levi’s dad and Twilight. “I’ve honestly never seen a pony that looks like this before. I will admit, they do look cute though.” She says running her fingers through Twilight’s mane.

Twilight smiled in response to the compliment. “Thank you.”

At that, Regina froze and quickly pulled her hand away from Twilight. “Did… did that just come from you?” She asked, looking at Twilight. Twilight simply nodded in response. Levi’s step mother slowly looked over to Levi who could be seen visibly sweating. “Levi, what are you not telling us?”

"Eheheh." Levi let out nervously. "That her name is Twilight and she's a unicorn?"

This time it was the father's turn to speak up. "What?? Levi, unicorns aren't real– Oh my god. I thought you were over this sort of thing!"

"How can you say that they aren't real when there's one literally sitting in your bed??" Levi asked with a groan.

"Levi, you do understand that this sort of thing isn't normal, right??" Regina asked.

"So what if it's not normal?? I already promised to take care of Twilight, and I'm gonna keep my promise!" Levi said, raising his voice a bit.

"You can barely take care of a dog!" Dad retorted.

"Okay, that is totally different." Levi mused. "Why can't you trust me??"

"To be fair, Levi, unicorns have never actually been seen by anyone. How do you even know how to take care of her?" Regina asked.

"I know plenty on how to, okay?? And what I don't know I'll research!" Levi says. As he spoke, Regina could see that he was practically begging them to trust him based on his expression alone.

"Levi, you can't just–" Dad said but was quickly cut off when Regina grabbed his arm.

"...Are you really sure you want to do this? To take on this responsibility?" Regina asked.

"More sure than anything." Levi says, going to pick up Twilight.

Regina just sat on the bed and stared at Twilight and Levi for a moment. "Alright… if that's what you really want, then we'll support you."

Levi couldn't help but smile at his step mother when she said that. "Thank you. thank you so much, Regina." Levi says, hugging Twilight.

"Regina, you can't be serious." Levi's father whispered.

"Of course I'm serious." She whispered back. "Just look at him." Levi's father paused, looking over at Levi who was hugging Twilight, both him and Twilight could be seen laughing… "When was the last time you saw him smiling like that? He really wants to do this… So I say we give him a chance."

Levi's father just sighed in response. "Alright… hey! I thought you said you were making me breakfast." He chuckled a bit.

"I-I mean." Levi sputtered. "We could all just eat at the table."

"No no no, you said you wanted us to have breakfast in bed, now I want that too!" He laughed a bit.

"And we can look after Twilight while you're cooking." Regina said smiling.

Levi sweat dropped a bit at that. My fault for trying to lie with the whole breakfast in bed thing. "A-Alright." She says, gently handing Twilight over to Regina. "I'll be right back, okay?" He says to Twilight.

"Okay." Twilight nodded smiling. With that, Levi quickly went back to the kitchen.

"And make breakfast for yourself so you can join us!" Regina called out.

"I will!" Levi responded, starting to make his dad and himself some eggs and toast.

Regina smiled as she held onto Twilight. "So has Levi been nice to you?" She asked the pony.

"Mhm!" Twilight nodded smiling.

"Oh, she is so CUTE!" She says, hugging Twilight tightly.

"Uh, I don't think she can breathe, Regina." Levi's dad says.

"Oops!" Regina let out, releasing her from the hug. She had noticed Twilight was taking deep breaths after that. "Sorry about that, Twilight."

About an hour passes from that point. Levi had brought the eggs for his father and the three of them had breakfast in the bedroom. Twilight seemed to like being around Levi's parents. And his parents certainly enjoyed the pony's company as well. Although one thought did come to mind for Levi's father. "So how are you going to work if you're taking care of Twilight?"

"I'm going to call my boss to try and get permission to work from home. It should be possible in my position." Levi answered.

"You don't have to do that, Levi. We can take care of her while you're away." Regina says.

"I appreciate that, Regina but I wanna take full responsibility for her." Levi says.

Regina couldn't help but giggle a bit at his response. "Alright. But please do remember that we'll always be there to support you, okay? We love you."

"Thanks." Levi smiled. "And I love you too."

That same day Levi had made preparations so that he could take care of Twilight without needing to leave the house for work. When he explained to his boss that he needed to work from home, naturally he had a few questions as to why. But by the end of their conversation, Levi was able to convince the man to be allowed to do sales from home.

Since then, things have gone rather well for the first year. Levi’s step mother and father would spend time with little Twilight when Levi was working. His father would even tell Twilight stories of some of the things Levi did when he was younger. And when Levi wasn’t on a phone call for work, he’d be the one spending the most time with Twilight; Teaching her how to speak more full sentences, and of course the most important thing for the book loving pony, teaching her how to read. Knowing he wouldn’t be able to bring Twilight into a public library, Levi was rather limited on the books he could give her. He knew he could probably just give her any book in existence from his IPad, but it didn’t seem to fit the mare. There was also the worry of what kind of books to give her. She may be mature in the show, but Twilight was now a filly. He couldn’t exactly just leave her a violent book from the start. So he looked for books that he read when he was younger.

“Magic Treehouse?” Twilight asked, looking at the small book in Levi’s hand.

“Yup.” Levi nodded. “I loved reading these books when I was younger. My big sister used to always give me the next book whenever I finished one.”

Twilight looked at the cover of the book. “Dinosaurs Before Dark… What’s a dinosaur?”

“Well they aren’t around anymore, but they used to be these huge animals that lived millions of years ago.” Levi said.

Twilight’s eyes widened in fascination upon hearing this. “Millions?? But how do people know what they are??” She asked in an excited tone.

“People did a lot of research on them. And a lot of the research was done with fossils.” Levi answered. “These fossils included bones that were found underground. And they show what they might have looked like all those years ago in a museum.”

“Do you think I could learn more about them too??” Twilight asked in an eager tone.

Levi couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “Sure, I can help you with that, Twiley.”

Twilight just stared for a moment. “Twiley?” She asked, tilting her head a bit. “I thought my name was Twilight.”

“It’s just a nickname.” He chuckled.

“A nickname? What’s that?” Twilight asked.

“Well it’s… just a name you give someone you feel you’ve gotten close to in a way.” Levi explained.

“Oooh, okay.” Twilight says, thinking for a moment as she looks at Levi. “So would I call you Lee? Or Leelee?”

“Ehhh… it’s kind of hard to make a nickname from my name, honestly.” Levi said, chuckling a bit.

“Well then… How about Dad?” Twilight asked, smiling at him.

“I… huh? Dad?” Levi asked, looking like his brain just took a screenshot.

“Well… your dad told me he used to help you a lot when you were small. And I thought since you’re doing that for me… well…” Twilight says, blushing sheepishly. “Sorry.”

Levi just looked at Twilight for a moment but laughed lightly. “It’s fine. If that’s what you wanna call me, then go right ahead, Twiley.”

Twilight smiled brightly at Levi’s response and just hopped over to him so that they could read the book together. “Chapter 1: Into the woods…” Twilight started.

The two would continue to read the book for about an hour or so. There were times Levi had to step away and Twilight had to read on her own. She didn’t seem to mind it too much. However, Levi did notice Twilight having a bit of a hard time flipping through the pages on her own. While it was normal for ponies in Equestria to use their hooves or mouth with everything… Seriously, how did any earth pony play instruments in that world? Levi thought. He knew that Twilight used magic for nearly everything growing up. So he had to find some way to teach her said magic. I suppose I could try rewatching some of the episodes to get a better idea on how to teach her spells. We could start with something simple like levitation and work our way up from there… I should at least be able to help her with that without watching the show.

With that in mind, another important thought occurred. I have to tell Twilight the truth about where she came from. And I shouldn’t wait too long either. I don’t want a repeat of what ‘Dashie’ went through. I won’t tell her yet but maybe I will in a few years. By then she would at least understand why I kept it secret. Levi looked over to Twilight who was already reading the 2nd Magic Treehouse book. “Hey Twiley, are you enjoying the new book?”

“It’s amazing!” Twilight said, smiling. “I really wonder how strong the magic in this tree is.”

Oh the irony… Levi thought and chuckled a bit. “Well, speaking of which, how would you like to start learning to use it?”

“Huh?” Twilight asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Magic, silly!” Levi answered.

“Huh!?” Twilight replied again, only this time with a look of surprise.

“You can use magic too because you’re a unicorn.” Levi clarified. “When I first found you, it looked like you were trying to use magic. I saw your horn flickering.”

Twilight looked down for a moment trying to remember. “I kind of remember that. It was dark and I was afraid… that flashing light on my head was magic?”

“Yeah.” Levi said with a nod. “And if you learn how to use it, you can do all kinds of things with it. Like levitation for example.” He said, picking up the Magic Treehouse book. “You would be able to float this book in the air and use your magic to turn the page instead of using your hooves.”

Twilight’s eyes once again widened in excitement. “That would make reading so much easier!” She exclaimed, running up to Levi. “Please teach me. Please please please Please PLEASE!”

Levi just snickered a bit. “Twiley, I already said I was going to teach you.” But my god that was just adorable.

“YES!!” Twilight shouted jumping for joy.

“Alright, alright.” Levi laughed a bit. “First we’re going to start with getting a better feel for your magic. You said you somewhat remember that night, right?”

“Mhm.” Twilight said with a light nod.

“Let’s see if we can recreate that moment.” Levi said before picking up Twilight, heading upstairs.

“Huh?” Twilight asked, looking around in confusion. “Where are we going?”

“The attic.” Levi answered.

“What!?” Twilight exclaimed as her eyes shrunk. “But you told me there was no light in there!”

“Exactly. It is dark. But once you get a proper feel of your own magic, you should be able to make your own light so that you can see.” Levi said, trying to reassure her. Guess I should have expected her to be a little traumatized from that night. Levi thought.

“A-Are you sure this is a good idea?” Twilight asked.

“Trust me, Twilight. I’ll be right there with you.” Levi said, smiling at her. “Promise.”

“...Okay. I trust you, Dad.” Twilight said with a light huff as they headed for the attic. They finally reach the attic door. Once Levi opens it, he gently places Twilight down, letting her walk inside. However, as soon as she walks inside, he quickly closes the door behind her. “D-Dad!?” She exclaimed, quickly turning around. However, all she could see was darkness. “Dad let me out! I don’t want to do this anymore!” She exclaimed, banging on the door. However she got no response. “Please…” She whimpered slightly before turning back around. She sat down on the ground crying slightly… However, she paused when she saw slight flashes in front of her.

“I’m right here, Twilight!” Levi called out from behind the door.

“H-huh??” Twilight let out, looking behind her. She could see that a purple light was now flashing on the door.

“That feeling you have right now; That light you see is your magic. Hold on to it but try to quiet your mind and relax. Remember that you’re not alone… You will always have someone there for you, Twilight. Whether it be me or someone else. I promise.”

Twilight closed her eyes and was panting a bit, trying to catch her breath. “I’m not alone… I’m not alone…” She repeated a few times. She kept doing so for a few minutes until she started breathing calmly again. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised when she saw that she could see more clearly. She would look up to see that her horn was glowing with a constant flowing purple aura; no longer flickering. “I did it.. I did it! I did it! I–” She paused, seeing the door open in front of her.

“I knew you would.” Levi smiled, picking Twilight up. “You did amazing, Twiley.” He says, hugging her.

“I was scared at first…” Twilight said, looking to the side.

“Come on, Twilight, you had nothing to be afraid of. Why would I lie to you?” Levi smiled ruffling her hair, causing her to laugh a bit. “Now how about we go ahead and start learning how to make things float?”

“Okay!” Twilight nodded, having a look of newfound confidence.

The rest of the day went on with Levi trying to teach Twilight how to use levitation. And as one would expect, she was struggling greatly at first. Twilight was trying her best to use her magic to lift the Magic Treehouse book in the air, but couldn’t even get close to completing the task. And this would be the case as days went by. She could make the book just barely shake a little bit, but that was about it. Creating magic in itself was one thing, but channeling her magic onto another object was another. And unfortunately I won’t be able to help her as much as I’d like to with it. She’s just going to have to keep practicing. I better also make sure she doesn’t try to overwork herself… speaking of which. “Alright, Twilight I think that’s enough for now.”

“Awwww! But I’m almost there, I can feel it!” Twilight whined.

“I don’t want you to over do it, Twilight.” Levi said, picking her up again. “How about we have something to eat and watch a little T.V. for now?”

“Alright…” She pouted as she was carried to the living room.

Levi sat her down on the couch and turned on the T.V. before going to the kitchen. The show that was on seemed strange to Twilight. The art style seemed sort of sharp. “Dragon Ball Z?” Twilight mumbled as she focused on the show.

Meanwhile, Levi was currently in the kitchen. From one of the cabinets, he pulled out a bunch of hay and some buns. “You know, you should seriously find a better place to store that.” Regina said, walking into the kitchen. “At least until you move into your own place.”

“You’re still planning on selling the house?” Levi asked as he was preparing a hay burger for Twilight.

“Well of course we are.” Regina answered. “I thought that’s what you wanted too.”

“Honestly, I haven’t thought about it all that much since Twilight came into our lives.” Levi answered, putting some sauce on the hay before putting the top bun on.

“Well you should really keep that in mind. We’ve had a couple of interested buyers who’ve seen the house online already. And we need to keep the house clean for when we give them a tour.” Regina says.

“I know.” Levi huffed. “Alright, I’ll try to keep the place clean.”

“Do you have a place in mind for when you move already at least?” Regina asked.

“Yup.” Levi smirked. “A nice little single floor home. One with two bedrooms, a nice looking kitchen, and even a pool out back. My girlfriend was actually the one who found it at a good price.”

“Speaking of which, how is Jane doing?” Regina asked. “I feel like it’s been a while since she’s come to visit.”

“She’s doing fine.” Levi answered. “She works pretty far away so it’s only natural she hasn’t been over in a while. She did say she’ll be coming to inspect the new house soon though.” Regina raised an eyebrow at that. “What?”

“Have you mentioned Twilight to her yet?” she asked.

“Not yet…” Levi huffed, rubbing the back of his head. “Not because I’m afraid of how she’ll react though. More of the fact that she just flat out wouldn’t believe me.”

“What about a video call?” Regina asked.

“Live video effects exist. She’d just think I was using some Vtuber effect or something.” Levi answered.

“How do you think she’ll take it?” Regina asked.

“I’m sure she wouldn’t mind… you know, after wrapping her head around the fact that this unicorn exists.” Levi says, making himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

“I’d love to see her reaction when she first meets Twilight.” Regina chuckled. “And by the way, when are you going to get married? You’ve been together for years.”

“I already told you: we’re not actually planning on marriage. The whole thing just always seemed like a hassle to us.” Levi answered.

“But what about the ceremony? The pictures? The party?” Regina asked.

Levi rolled his eyes at that. “Yeah, and the thousands of dollars spent to make that all happen.” He says, heading back to the living room. “Look, if we do get married, we aren’t doing anything big. Probably elope.”

Regina just sighed, shaking her head in response. “If that’s what they want…”

Levi soon entered the living room. But he quickly froze when he suddenly saw a remote floating in the air. “Twilight!?”

Twilight quickly smiled at Levi. “Dad, look! I did it! I did it!” Twilight said, hopping excitedly.

“But, how did–” Levi stammered.

“I got the idea when I was watching the show that was on!” Twilight said, looking at the T.V.

Looking at the television himself, he could see it was the episode of Dragon Ball Z where Gohan was teaching Videl to use her energy to fly. “Really? You got the idea from that?” He asked, putting the plates down on the small table.

“You think I could use my magic to help me fly too??” Twilight asked, smiling brightly.

“To fly??” Levi asked. Well, thinking back, Starlight Glimmer was able to do it, so I suppose it’s possible. “Well, with enough practice yeah I’m sure you could do that.”

“Then I wanna do that! Can we start learning tomorrow??” Twilight asked.

“Whoa! Whoa! You’re not going to practice flying until you have full control over that magic.” Levi answered.

“What do you mean? I can do it just fine now! See??” She asks, levitating the hay burger… before slamming it into her own face and making a mess. “. . . Eheheheh.”

Levi just sighed. “That’s what I meant.” He says, going back to the kitchen. “I’ll clean this up and make another one.”

Chapter 4

Another month had passed since that day. Twilight had been getting a good handle on her levitation, mostly using it on her books so she could read them easily on her own. Which she’s been doing a lot. It took a little time, but she's gotten used to using her magic to do simple things like flipping the page or pressing the button on a remote. She's already finished reading through all the Magic Treehouse books, and started asking for more advanced books. At the rate she was reading, Levi would need to make sure one of the rooms in his new house had a small library so that he could keep Twilight entertained. Levi of course wasn't surprised by this considering he knew Twilight's history of magic school when she was just a filly in Canterlot. With that in mind, another thought occurred to Levi.

I better make sure she doesn’t isolate herself and only focus on studying like she did before she met her five friends. But how can I do that? Maybe I can see if I can get her interested in something else that she can do with friends. “Hey, Twiley?” Levi asked, looking over to her.

Twilight looked away from her book on fossils for a moment to meet Levi’s gaze. “Yeah Dad?”

“Do you wanna take a break from reading and play a game with me?” Levi asked, holding up a Nintendo Switch Joycon.

Twilight raised an eyebrow at that before bookmarking and putting the book down. “A game?” she asked, walking over to Levi.

“Yeah, I think you might have a lot of fun with it.” Levi smiled.

“Well… alright. What kind of game?” Twilight asked.

Levi smirked a bit before inserting the joycon into a mini wheel. “Catch!” He said, lightly tossing the control to Twilight.

“Whoa!” Twilight let out, catching the joycon in her levitation. “Uh… Dad?”

“We’re going to play a game called Mario Kart.” Levi finally answered. “It should be good practice for your levitation.”

Twilight stared at the joycon wheel for a moment in confusion before looking back at Levi. “How?”

Levi chuckled a bit. “Here, watch me first.” He says, starting up a race in single player.

Twilight would watch Levi play very closely, studying what he did. Watching which button he used to accelerate, which button he used for items, and which button he used when turning. She also noticed that when he turned, he turned the wheel like it was an actual steering wheel in a car. “This game looks pretty crazy.” Twilight said with a raised eyebrow.

Levi laughed a bit. “Yeah, it can be really crazy. But it’s a lot of fun!” He says, finishing the race. “You wanna try now?”

“Alright.” Twilight nodded, joining the game now. Twilight soon was met with the character select screen. “Are there any rules on who I pick?”

“No, Twiley. Just pick anyone you like.” Levi chuckled a bit.

“Anyone?” Twilight asked, looking intently at the screen. She goes ahead and picks Princess Peach while Levi picks Link.

“Alright, let’s start with a simple but fun one.” Levi says, loading up Coconut Mall.

Twilight simply nodded, still a little confused by the game itself. Alright, to move I just gotta hold this button. Twilight thought, holding down on the button to accelerate.

“I would wait a little bit before you do that.” Levi warned.

“Huh? Why would I–” Twilight started. But as soon as the race started, she saw that her character didn’t boost ahead. In fact it stayed behind coughing smoke from their kart. “What!?”

“That’s why.” Levi chuckled a bit. “If you wanna do the starting boost, you gotta get the timing right. I’d say start holding the button near the end of the 2nd light.”

“2nd light… Okay, I can remember that.” Twilight nodded as she tried her best to catch up. The two played together for about an hour. Twilight took a little bit to get used to the controls. There were a few times where she would keep hitting a wall or falling off the track. But regardless of the learning curve, Twilight did start getting a better handle on it. And was having a lot of fun playing with Levi.

While they were playing, they suddenly heard the doorbell ring. “Uh oh.” Twilight let out as Levi quickly paused the game.

Levi looked over to Twilight. “Go head to the kitchen for now, okay?”

“Okay.” Twilight nodded before quickly running into the kitchen.

Levi huffed a bit before going to answer the door. Only to be quickly glomped by the woman standing at the entrance. “Gahk!” Levi let out while in a tight embrace.

“Levi! It feels like I haven’t seen you in forever!” She laughed before kissing Levi’s cheek.

Levi just blushed a bit. “Eheheh. Yeah it’s been a while, Jane.” He chuckled, smiling at the woman. Jane wore a white t-shirt under a yellow zipped hoodie. She had brown hair, blue eyes, and was slightly taller than Levi.

Jane giggled a bit before letting go. “So what are you up to?”

“Oh, I was just playing some Mario Kart.” Levi Chuckled a bit, rubbing the back of his head.

“Well have you had anything for lunch yet?” Jane asked. “I could whip something up for the both of us in the kitchen… as long as your parents are okay with that of course.”

“You know they don’t really mind as long as we clean up after.” Levi answered. “And uh… Sure! I’ll meet you there!” Levi said, quickly running ahead into the kitchen.

“Huh?” Jane let out with a look of confusion. She looked to see the Nintendo Switch was on, but she had noticed there were two controllers being used. Looking at the screen, she could see that the game was paused.

In the kitchen, Levi was frantically looking around. “Twilight, where are you??” He whispered, noticing the small filly was nowhere to be seen.

“What are you looking for?” Jane suddenly asked from the kitchen door entrance. She had a quizzical expression when she looked at Levi.

“Just the pasta!” Levi smiled sheepishly. “I was thinking maybe we could have spaghetti and meatballs. You know, something we haven’t had in a while.”

“You know I usually make my pasta from scratch, right?” Jane asked before starting to look around in cabinets herself. “And the sauce too, so just let me handle all that. Can you grab me the eggs?”

“Y-yeah, sure.” Levi said, quickly going to the fridge to get the eggs for Jane.

“Now, where’s that flour?” Jane asked, going through the cabinets. She finally finds the large bag of flour in one of the larger cabinets. “There you are!” She smirks, grabbing it.

As soon as she grabbed the bag, Levi had quickly noticed Twilight’s horn from behind it. “Gaaah!”

“W-what!? What is it??” Jane asked, looking back at Levi.

“I uh… thought I saw a spider. My bad.” Levi blushed.

Jane however just gave him an unamused look. “You’re saying this to the girl who grew up in Australia.” She rolled her eyes, taking out the flour and closing the cabinet; not having noticed the small filly inside. She walked over to the counter, laying out the flour in a way she could put eggs into it. “So… how’s it going trying to get the house sold?” She asked, preparing the dough.

“Actually, I forgot to mention that the house is already sold!” Levi said, smiling.

This of course caused Jane to smile excitedly. “Seriously?? That’s awesome! So when can we move into our new place together?”

“We’ve got until the end of the month to get everything packed and out of here.” Levi answered.

“Perfect~” Jane smirked at him. “I already had all my things shipped from Australia. The storage container should be at the house in a few days or so. I’ll get a head start on getting our new home prepared. And when we’re done, we’ll finally have a place to have some more alone time~”

Levi blushed red at that. “Y-yeah.”

“What??” Jane chuckled. “...Oh shit, your parents aren’t around are they?” She asked, blushing herself.

“N-no no, they’re both out right now.” He answered. “So uh, think we could use that beyond meat stuff for the meatballs?”

“What?” Jane asked wide-eyed. “You can’t be serious. Don’t tell me you’re going vegan on me.”

“Well, it’s not me, it’s mostly for someone else.” Levi answered.

“So there is someone else here, huh?” Jane asked, looking at Levi. “I was wondering why you had two controllers out when you were playing Mario Kart. Are they a friend of yours?”

“Well, she’s kind of more than a friend…” Levi said before slapping himself in the face. Why the hell did I word it like that!?

Jane just paused what she was doing. “...What? She? And the hell do you mean you’re closer than friends with her?”

“Jane, you’re getting the wrong idea.” Levi retorted.

“Okay, then would you mind giving me the right idea??” She asked, slowly losing her patience.

“S-she’s a family member. That’s all.” Levi answered.

“...Oh.” Jane let out, sort of sighing in relief. “The way you said that you had me worried there.” She chuckled a bit before going back to making the pasta. "So where is she?"

"She's around." Levi answered.

"Well I'd like to meet her." Jane added. "How are you related?"

"That's sort of complicated." Levi said, rubbing the back of his head.

"In what way?" Jane asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oof!" a female voice yelped.

"What the–" Jane let out, quickly moving to where the sound came from. However, what she saw was the last feasible thing she expected to see. ". . . Levi?"

"...Yeah?" Levi gulped.

"...Why is there a small purple unicorn in the kitchen?" Jane asked incredulously.

"That's actually the complicated part." Levi huffed before.picking up the filly. "You okay, Twiley?"

"Mhm." Twilight nodded.

"...Twiley?" Jane asks.

"It's her nickname… for Twilight." Levi clarified.

". . . Levi, can I talk to you privately in the living room?" Jane asked.

"Y-yeah of course." He says, gently placing Twilight back down. "Just wait here for now, okay?"

Twilight looked at Levi with a worried expression but nodded. "Okay, Dad."

"...Okay, let's hurry this up now." Jane says, grabbing Levi's arm, and taking him into the next room.

"H-hey! Take it easy!" Levi exclaimed when they went back into the living room.

"What the fuck is going on here!?" Jane exclaimed.

"Ssshhhh!! Keep your voice down!" Levi whispered.

"Why is freaking Twilight Sparkle here!?" Jane whispered back. "And on top of that, two more questions: Why is she a filly? And why did she call you Dad!?!?"

"Calm down, alright??" Levi whispered back, covering Jane's mouth. "Just let me explain…"

From then, Levi and Jane sat down on the couch. Levi did his best to explain everything that's happened so far. With each detail revealed to her, her facial expression seemed to soften more and more. "So let me see if I'm understanding this right. You just found her in your dad's shed all by herself? No memories– nothing?"

"Yup." Levi nodded. "She didn't even know her own name."

"And you haven't told her where she's from yet?" Jane asked.

"Not yet." Levi said, shaking his head. "I plan to tell her when I think she's ready to know… I feel like telling her now would just overwhelm her."

"This is just so bizarre." Jane huffed. "It's like something out of a storybook. How have your parents been handling it?"

"Well they were definitely surprised. But we've been living together just fine." Levi smiled. "Twilight actually sees them as her grandparents." he says before kissing her cheek. "And I'm willing to bet she'd see you as her mother too~"

Jane just blushed a bit but smirked. "Well, you did say you wanted to have kids eventually. Just wasn't expecting this."

"So you'll be okay with all this?" Levi asked.

"Are you kidding? Being in a family with Twilight?" Jane chuckled. "Who the heck would not be okay with that?"

Levi just smiled at that. “Hey Twilight! Come in here!” Levi called out.

Twilight quickly runs in, looking up at the two. “Yes Dad?”

“Twiley, let me introduce you to my girlfriend, Jane.” Levi says.

“Girlfriend?” Twilight asks, tilting her head.

“That’s right.” Jane smiled. “I guess you could say I’m your Mom~”

“My– My mom??” Twilight asked, wide eyed. “But… where have you been? Where did you even come from? When did you meet?? When did–”

“Okay easy, Miss 20 questions.” Levi says. “Just give us a chance to explain.” He chuckled.

“Let’s see… where to start…” Jane thought. “Shit, how long has it been?”

“Easy on the swearing around her please.” Levi sweat dropped.

“Ack! Right, sorry.” Jane huffed. “Well… I’m pretty sure it’s been over 7 years since we’ve been together. You’ve never really seen me because I normally live in another country completely; Australia.”

“Some say it doesn’t exist.” Levi Chided before getting punched hard in the shoulder by Jane. “O-Ow! Kidding! Jeez!”

“Anyways…” Jane says, rolling her eyes. “I haven’t been around because until recently my job was back in Australia. But by next month, I’ll be moving in with your dad in our own house, so I’ll be getting a new job here.”

“Wow…” Twilight said with a smile. “And where did you two meet?” Twilight asked.

“We met online.” Jane smirked.

“You mean the internet?” Twilight asked, getting a nod from Jane. “Dad says he wants me to stay away from the internet for some reason. I don’t know why though.”

Jane blushed a bit, thinking of all the possible posts and images that could be found on the internet. “He’s probably just trying to make sure you don’t see anything bad. That’s all.”

“But I see Dad on it all the time.” Twilight says, raising an eyebrow. “What’s so bad about it?”

“It’s just–... you’ll learn more about it when you're older.” Jane says.

Twilight just pouts at that. “Alright.”

“Now come on.” Jane smirked, picking up Twilight. “Why don’t you help us cook, huh?”

“Okay!” Twilight smiled as they headed back into the kitchen.

From then, Twilight, Levi, and Jane would spend the time cooking spaghetti and meatless meatballs. (A concept which Jane found to be a paradox). Despite the different taste, all three of them definitely enjoyed their meal. Twilight even begged Jane to make it again next time. They ended up spending the rest of the day playing together, playing more Mario Kart on the Switch, as well as trying out the sports game on it… The two were both glad that joycons were lighter than wii remotes, especially when Twilight launched the control at the T.V. when they were playing the bowling game.
