Quick and easy
Mint hesitantly approached the door of a young colt whom he had been told went by the name of Puffy.
Chapping on the door Mint couldn’t help but feel a little anxious, given the age of the younger colt in question. He felt some old memories and the feeling of going to his friend’s house when he was younger to see if they could come out to play, making him feel a bit silly, and slightly creepy given his age.
Waiting a few seconds the door was briskly answered by a handsome young teenager, still retaining many of the clear signs of coltishnes and his tender premature age.
“Hi! Here to see about the phone?” He simply asked.
“Yeah, I was told that you were amazing with your hooves, and could fix just about any device given to you.” Mint explained.
“Cool, I thought that’s what you might have been looking for, a friend told me to expect someone. Want to come in?” Puff asked the older stallion, smiling up at him.
“Aren’t your parents here?” Mint asked, raising his eyebrow in confusion at being invited so casually into this young colt’s home.
“Nah, they’re away on holiday for a while.” Puff said as if it had been nothing at all, simply turning his flank towards him as he cantered off inside.
Seeing Puff trot off without him Mint felt compelled to enter, closing the door behind him as he followed the young colt.
“You sure your parents would be okay with you letting strange stallions into your house without them knowing?” Mint hesitantly asked.
“Yeah, they know what I do and how good I am at it. I should have your phone fixed up in ten, maybe twenty minutes or so at most probably.” Puff nonchalantly replied as he brought Mint into his little workshop/bedroom.
Looking around the room Mint was more than impressed with the set up. Alongside a large desk strewn with various tools and instruments he could see that the room was covered in a little set of drawers and racks all piled high with countless tools, the vast majority of which Mint didn’t even know the name of.
The stallion had been extremely sceptical at first, he had seriously considered not even showing up, going to a shop instead, but he had been assured by his friend that this young colt could do far better in less time. Seeing the sheer amount of tools and the neat organisation of his workshop some of his doubts began to fade.

“May I see the phone?” The white earth pony asked with a smile on his face.
Mint pulled out his smashed device from his saddlebags and handed it to him. Younger colt wiggles his head at the sight of a broken screen.
“You are in luck, I have a replacement in my workshop” He beamed at the unicorn and sat down by his desk, pulling an extra chair for Mint to sit on as well.
“Please, have a seat. It will take 20 minutes tops”. Mint nodded and sat down, looking curiously at the pony, pulling out something that looked like a corded gun.
“What is this device?” Mint asked finally.
Curiosity was too big for him to handle. Puff turns his head to the unicorn, smiles and responds.
“Oh, this? This is a heat gun. It blows very hot air at the device, melting the glue between the screen and the housing of your phone” Puffy turns his head and turns it on.
His hooves hold the gun, moving it up and down, trying to melt the adhesive. From time to time he taps it, checking the temperature.
At the moment that Mint didn’t catch, Puff put the gun down and pry the screen off with a couple of swift moves. Soon after, the colt plugs out and pulls the broken screen away. Moving with grace, almost like a dancer, the colt scraped off the old glue and placed brand new one, pushing it with a plastic tool. To Mint it kinda looked like a scraper. Puff pulled out a brand new screen, attached it to the device’s motherboard and glued it back in. He pushes the power button and holds it.
This exact moment was what Puff hated. The anticipation to see the logo, that brief moment was stressing him out. Once it appeared, the colt breathed the sign of relief. Once it booted up, Puff briefly checked the device if it works as intended, then, the colt handles the device to the unicorn.
“Here you go, that’s all from me.” He said with a smile
Mint looked at his phone. It looked brand new, he wasn’t expecting such a nice job done in such a short amount of time.
“That’s amazing, thank you so much” Mint said and smiled at the colt.
“Honestly, I had doubts about coming here. You’re still young, yet so professional. My friends were right about you”. The sheer amount of compliments coming out from Mint’s mouth made him blush slightly.
Soon after, Puff begins to feel something weird about the unicorn. He looks at him without a word for a couple of seconds, admiring his posture, mane and his colours. Colt blushed harder.
“How much do I pay?” Mint asked, pulling Puff out from the clouds
“Uh… um… t-twenty bits?” He responded, his voice was shaking, just like he was ashamed asking for money. Puff however, spoke, before Mint reached his bag.
“Or! Um… Y-you could go out with me? I feel quite lonely over here without my parents. G-generally lonely even with them around”. He admitted, feeling like he lied a little in that regard.
“Go out?” Mint asked, splaying his ears back in confusion.
“Yeah, y-you know, like a date?” Puff said sheepishly.
“A date?” Mint simply asked again, disbelieving what the young colt was trying to imply.
Puff’s face lit up in a deep red blush at this as he tried to push forward. “L-like, well…..like a date, between two stallions. I was told that you liked stallions, and I-I was just thinking, b-but I’m sorry if I was wrong.” Puff replied, even more sheepish than before.
“W-what, but I’m a stallion. You’re a colt.” Mint said, blushing very heavily.
“I’m 16.” Puff simply replied.
“Still a colt, and I’m sure your parents wouldn’t be too happy about this idea, not that I’m into little colts!” Mint exclaimed, suddenly feeling more and more uncomfortable.
“I’m hardly a little foal you know.” Puff responded, quite annoyed with the older stallion.
“Yeah, but you’re still a good bit younger than me.” Mint explained, slowly backing away from Puff, completely forgetting about his phone.
“Look I don’t want to hurt you, but you can’t just go around inviting strange stallions into your house and ask them if they want to go out with you, especially not while home alone.” Mint continued to explain, looking for the quickest way out of the situation.
“I-I didn’t mean it like that! I mean, I’m sorry if I came on too fast!” Puff quickly blurted out, terrified that the stallion would simply leave him and never come back.
“I’m sorry about this too. But I think the more responsible thing in this situation would be to simply leave.” Mint said, at least letting the younger colt see him out before he briskly trotted off, both ponies having completely forgotten about Mint’s phone.
