Sombra and Flurry Heart adventure series short story/side adventure
Flurry Heart, the Cake Twins, and Cozy Glow are being babysat by King Sombra. They were not having any fun due to boredom; when suddenly they see a box titled Candyland in a toy chest. Before they knew it; they got teleported into the game.
Considering that it’s a board game; you’d think that nothing bad will happen to them, right?
The Royal Parents are currently in their castle, chasing down Flurry Heart since she wanted to play chase; (or something resembling tag).
Flurry Heart giggled while flying and said; “can’t catch me!”
Looking determined, Cadence replied back while chasing her daughter; “oh we shall see honey… . Just you wait!” With that, Flurry Heart screamed, then giggled while continuing to fly away from her mom. Her dad however, is currently trying to get to his position so that way Flurry can be caught while Cadence is chasing her down. Flurry doesn’t know it yet, but she will.
Zipping and zooming, dodging and vaulting, gliding and near missing, the chase for Flurry Heart is on. And it is epic! Right up until… .
“I got you now Flurry… . You’re mine!” Shining Armor said as he’s about to capture Flurry Heart. Unfortunately for him, at the last possible moment, Flurry Heart flew upwards as a means to dodge her father’s capture; which unfortunately caused Cadence to realize too late that she was about to crash towards her husband. And with that… a mighty boom was heard, and something falling onto the ground as a result.
Realizing that her parents are hurt, Flurry Heart stopped in her tracks midair, says; “uh oh… ,” and flies downward to see if her parents are alright. Upon seeing that they’re anything but alright, Flurry Heart knelt down to the ground, tears starting to form from her eyes, and then she cried out; “I’m sorrryyyy…. !” before she began crying because she made her parents hurt themselves, and she thought that it was her fault because of it.
Seeing their daughter cry, the parents did their best to get themselves off the ground, and then Cadence began to say; “it’s alright Flurry… . We’re fine see?” Her husband then responded; “I’m not… .” Scowling towards Shining Armor, Cadence growled out in a whisper; “not, helping!” and then turned back to her daughter so she could begin calming her down. “Hey sweetie: how about we go and get you something to snack on. Would you like that?” she said in a motherly tone. Sniffling, Flurry Heart then wiped her tears away, and her nose before saying; “y-yes please mama… .” Cadence smiled, then said; “okay little one… . Let’s go,” before putting a hoof to her daughter’s cheek, and giving it a kiss. Smiling, Flurry Heart flew off to the kitchen to get a snack, with her parents following close behind.
Poundcake is currently trying to lift his tray of poundcake batter to the oven so that way it can be baked. Reason? Poundcake is eight and a half years old, and is currently being trained on how to bake something; let alone on how to do so on his own if his parents were to retire one day from the bakery, and that he and his sister were to be put in charge of for when that happens… . And as for Pumpkin Cake? She’s currently busy drawing something with a paper and crayon while she’s waiting for her mom to prepare the register for training on how to use the register for when her parents are gonna retire. And also for counting and such when pricing and handing out change. That’s all.
“Okay Poundcake, just slide the tray into the oven, and I’ll close the door for you. Okay? You can do it!” Carrot Cake said, trying to sound motivating for his son.
Poundcake is struggling to keep his balance due to the weight of the tray slowing him down, and throwing him slightly off balance; causing him to sway and get bits of batter all over the floor. “T-thanks dad. I-I’ll try… .” Unfortunately, right as he was just about to get the tray into position, some bit of batter got in the path of Poundcake, causing him to slip and fall; tossing the tray high up into the air, and then clattering all over the floor, making a big mess.
Keeping his cool, Carrot Cake then said; “it’s okay son… . Another time…”, while trying to sound reassuring; despite the fact that he knew that it was gonna happen, and that he blames himself for having his son lifting something so heavy without warning him first about it; let alone having him lift something heavy in the first place without any prior knowledge to it. So because of that, his son made a mess, and he has to clean it all up while Poundcake recovers from his fall. He wasn’t too hurt, but it still hurt regardless.
And as to what happened with the other sibling… , “Oops…”, Pumpkin Cake blurted out while looking at the now ruined cash register in shock. Apparently; like any magic user, Pumpkin Cake sneezed, and blasted the register with so much force of her magic, that it just simply exploded; (upwards like as if it was a cartoon. Ironic isn’t it)?
“Oh dearie… it’s alright. It happens… .” Cupcake said also trying to sound reassuring toward her daughter’s mishap. Unfortunately, she too also blames herself for her mistake; not having literally everything in the bakery being magic proof to a degree so it wouldn’t be damaged or destroyed because of Pumpkin Cake’s power sneezes; (which is something like blasting out magic while sneezing. Interesting, right)?
Sniffling due to the sneeze from seconds ago, Pumpkin Cake looked at her mom with sad regretful eyes, and says softly; “I’m so sorry mom… . I really am… .” Cupcake then just smiled, wrapped her daughter into a hug, and then said; “eh no worries. We were just planning on getting rid of that old thing anyways… Hmhm.” Carrot Cake then responded from afar; “no we weren’t! I was planning on selling it!” Cupcake then replied; “honey! Not, helping!” Carrot Cake then softly said; “sorry dearest…”, and then resumed cleaning up the mess. Turning back to her daughter with a smile and calm expression, Cupcake then offered; “how about we go and try out some cookies that your brother has baked. At least that wasn’t an upside down cake”; referring to the spill from earlier. Poundcake then replied from afar; “hey?” causing his sister and mother to laugh as a result. With that, Pumpkin Cake and her mother went to the kitchen to meet the two boys, and then went to the fridge to fetch everyone and themselves some of Poundcake’s cookies to snack on.
Cozy Glow is currently being watched over by the ex villains since a: it’s unsure as to whether she had a family or not before she was a villain. B: she’s still too young to be left alone. And c: sugar rush… .
“Ugh… . What am I gonna do with her… ?” Tirek said as he’s rubbing his face with his hand from being exhausted. As for Chrysalis; she’s just watching it all unfold on a lawn chair, and with a tub of popcorn. Cozy Glow however was still bouncing around the walls of the caverns. And by bouncing, she’s literally ricocheting off the walls like a cartoon character that’s too hyped up on sugar. Unfortunately… later on in the story… , it won’t be her last encounter with sugary sweets. Just you wait… .
“Okay, I’m bored now”, Discord said whilst getting up due to also watching the situation unfold. “I’m gonna go get something to drink. Want anything?” Chrysalis nodded, and said; “I’m coming with you. Tirek?” Tirek is too busy with covering his head with both hands that he can’t seem to respond right now. So with that, Chrysalis said; “lemon lime it is!” and went with Discord to get some drinks.
“I’m having the best time of my life! Wooo!!!!” Cozy Glow said before beginning to run around the caverns this time. Tirek then blurted out; “can’t anyone stop this madness?!” Unfortunately, no one could. That’s all.
King Sombra is currently in his castle fast alseep, with a book to his face. Reason? He’s reading one of Shining Armor’s old comic books, and loving it. Well… , up until he fell asleep that is… . So since he’s asleep, he’s probably dreaming about something right? He was… , when suddenly there’s a knock at the door. Given the fact that he’s still asleep, he ignores it.
The knocker decided to check up on him since Sombra wasn’t at the door. The knocker used their magic to teleport themselves inside, saw that Sombra is asleep, and decided to open the door quietly so that way the knocker’s buddies get inside before shutting the door completely, and quietly. Who were they? Well… .
“Sombra, wake up… . We wanna play with you… .” Flurry Heart whined. Sombra then got up, rubbed one of his eyes, and then says sleepily; “flurry… . Can’t you decide that some other time? I’m tired… . And… .” Sombra pauses since he just realized what Flurry Heart just said, and then asked with wide eyes; “wait. What do you mean ‘we’?” Flurry Heart blushed with a smile, and then flew away from his point of view to let him see by what she meant as “we”. Seeing that Flurry Heart is with the Cake Twins and Cozy Glow, King Sombra groans to himself while facepalming with both shadow hands, and then lays back on the couch with a thud. It didn’t hurt cuz of the pillows. “Why can’t I just get a break… ?” Sombra said; not happy about having to involuntarily babysit his pals, and such.
King Sombra is currently hugging Flurry Heart because she wanted one, and because she’s feeling happy; if not energetic because she had a little too much sugar in her from her peanut butter and jelly sandwich lunches. And as for the others… , it varies… .
Poundcake is currently working on creating a cake, but with the building blocks that Flurry Heart brought over. Obviously, he’s been taught on what to bake, and what not to bake. However, he hasn’t been taught on how to contain his inner voice just yet for whenever he gets angry…. . So with that, sounds of blocks toppling over can be heard, and a growling Poundcake who said; “you have to be kidding me!!!” After that, Poundcake got angry, and starts destroying the blocks that Flurry brought over. Or at least tried to anyways, and starts throwing them. And this is on really throwing them… .
After Poundcake’s rage, he collapsed and fell asleep from exhaustion. Luckily for everyone, no one was hurt. Unluckily for Flurry Heart, she’s whimpering because all of her blocks were tossed out the window when Poundcake was raging… . And not to mention that those were her only sets too. So with that, like any other toddler would do, she starts to cry about it.
Pumpkin Cake meanwhile was busy trying to draw something, but can’t seem to think on what to draw exactly… . So with that, she just thought of drawing a kitten, and went along with it. After failing miserably on drawing one, Pumpkin Cake got angry, threw her papers and crayons away from the table, and then crossed her hooves and pouted. “I no wike dwawing… ,” she said.
Cozy Glow surprisingly is baking a cake. Why? Because of some idiotic bet that might obviously end badly… . But nope. Cozy Glow accepted the bet, and took it. What’s the bet? Cake Twins betted that Cozy couldn’t bake a cake. That’s all. And as always, considering as to what happens when a cartoon character is taking a bet, it ends either well, or horribly… . In this case, the character loses the bet. I.e, Cozy Glow. How? Well, let’s just put it shortly, and say that you definitely weren’t supposed to put an entire stacked cake in the oven, and bake it. So because of that, it came out perfect, but toppled over because the cake was too tall to be let out of the oven. Not to mention that Cozy Glow actually decorated the cake before baking it. How is that possible? Leave it to Pinkie physics to affect Cozy’s baking. That is all… ! “I’ve had enough of this!” Cozy said before slamming a small pot onto the counter, and leaving the kitchen a mess. And for obvious reasons, yes the oven is off. Or so she thinks… . We’ll leave it up to your imaginations to decide… .
After calming down everyone with some storytelling, all of the ponies are feeling good, and are doing their own thing; like Flurry Heart cuddling her whammy plushie, the Cake Twins taking a nap together, and Cozy Glow with doodling something with a paper and crayon. Well hey, if Pumpkin couldn’t draw, then maybe she can. Right? She can. Yet unfortunately… , this peace won’t last very long… .
Sombra sighs whilst putting down his novel that he brought with him, and says; “well what do you wanna do? There’s not much to do in my castle after all… . Well, aside from thinking of a good game we could play.”
Poundcake is awake already and is looking around, when suddenly he spots an interesting looking board game and points; “what about that one?”
Sombra looks, sees what it is, and says; “really… ? You wanted to play Candyland?”
Flurry Heart gasped, and flew quickly to pick up the board game whilst saying, “I loved this game when I was a baby! It’s amazing!”
Sombra snickered at what she said, and replied to Flurry Heart; “who says ‘when you were a baby?’ You still are!”
Flurry Heart whimpered, then said; “no I’m not… ,” and flew to the ground because her feelings got hurt.
Sombra takes a deep breath, and says; “you know what I mean… . You’re almost five, and yet are still in diapers because of your accidents. It’s not like that it’s a bad thing, right? I told you this already!” Flurry Heart got all teary eyed, slammed the board game on the ground, and is walking off. That is, until the box opened on its own, and started glowing.
With that, the board game and its pieces are floating and glowing, and then began to brighten the room. Without a moment to spare, King Sombra blurts out; “aw crud… ,” and then got teleported into the game with his pals.
Everyone is waking up because they were teleported into the land of candy. Or Candyland. Whatever you wanna call it.
Sombra was the first to awaken, and then began to look around before asking; “are we dreaming… ? Or is this our fate since we’ve… , you know.” Pumpkin Cake woke up after, and then replies; “I think we were knocked out by that blast I think… .” After that, she winced and said; “ow my head… . Remind me to never eat too many sweets with Poundcake again… . Ouch… .” Sombra then replied; “agreed”, to which Poundcake then said; “hey! Ow.” before rubbing his head and wincing too from having a headache. Flurry Heart meanwhile is still asleep, and is currently sucking on one of her forehooves for comfort. Sombra then sighs, smiles, then says; “if only Flurry Heart were to embrace her age or predicament, then maybe she wouldn’t have been so cranky like that. Right?” Pumpkin Cake then rubs her head sheepishly, and then says; “well… , you see… .”
However, before she could say anything else, Flurry Heart then began to wake up, and started to have tears in her eyes. Seeing this, Sombra knelt down to Flurry Heart’s level, and says; “look, if it makes you feel any better, I’m planning on giving you something as a means as to show you how sorry I am. Okay… ?” Flurry Heart sniffled, then flew to hug Sombra tightly before saying; “no… . It’s not that. It’s… .” Flurry Heart was gonna continue, but then Pumpkin Cake proceeded to tap at Sombra while looking at him solemnly. Sombra knew what that meant, turned to look at Flurry Heart, and then finished by saying; “it’s because you were made fun of, and your parents were of no help whatsoever to help with your situation… . Correct?” Flurry Heart nodded yes with a sad about to cry face, and then hugs Sombra tightly again while also letting out little cries of defeat. Sombra pets Flurry’s head, and then says; “eh, so what? Forget about those bullies. You’re okay pal. You’re fine now… . Relax. It’s okay… .” Flurry Heart sniffled, babbled; “owkay… . T-thanks…” , and then sucks on one of her hooves again while hugging Sombra as a means to calm herself down.
After a few minutes, all got up to look around the place, and then Poundcake asked; “sooo, what do we do now… ? I’ve never played Candyland before. Least, not in a while, I think… .” Pumpkin Cake was about to answer back, when she realized something was wrong, and then says with wide eyes; “wait! Where’s Cozy Glow?” Realizing as to what’s going on, all got wide eyed, and then looked around to call out for Cozy Glow whilst walking around while doing so.
After a few more minutes went by, all of the group gathered back to where they once were, and then Poundcake started to say while shaking in fear; “we’re so dead! The villains are gonna hurt us for losing her! We’re so… !” But before he could finish, Sombra popped a pacifier in his mouth, and then said; “quiet! It’s okay. We’re not gonna hurt you, alright? So just calm down!” Poundcake meagerly nodded his head, and then began to suck on his pacifier as a means to calm himself down. Looking back at Sombra with confusion, Pumpkin Cake began to ask; “where’d you get that from?” and raised an eyebrow. Both Pound and Sombra blushed, and then Sombra replied; “you see… . I have some baby supplies with me for just in case… . He he… .” Pumpkin Cake face hoofed herself, and then asked with a slight mad face; “why?!” Sombra sighs and replies back; “because I figured that you two wouldn’t outgrow this stuff just yet… . So I figured I might as well keep them… . Are you mad?”
Pumpkin Cake was about to say something, but sighs; knowing that he was right, and then says; “a little… “ before sitting down and replying; “but it’s okay. Really. It’s fine.” Sombra then looked at her with confusion back, and then asked with a raised eyebrow; “you sure? It’s fine? You’re not mad?” Pumpkin Cake then rubbed the back of her head whilst smiling with a blush, and then replied; “well… I mean… . I guess we just miss being infants is all. Am I right?” Sombra chuckles, nods, and then says; “eh well so what? Right? As long as y’all are okay with acting like infants for a while longer, then I’m sure that it’s all okay. Right?” Pumpkin Cake nodded, and then replied back; “right!” with a smile. Flurry Heart blushed with a smile, and then turned to ask Sombra; “you stiww have my diapees, right?” Sombra chuckles and says; “I do… . But I wouldn’t call them that though… , heh… . Just call them, your accident containers, okay?” Flurry Heart laughed at the absurdity of his name for her diapers, and then said; “okay”, and laughed some more. Soon enough, the entire gang bursted into laughter, and are having a good time with each other’s company. That is until… .
“Why hello there!” said a jolly green creature. Looking towards the beast, Pumpkin Cake asked; “who are you?” and looked to stare at the massive being. The green creature then bowed while taking off his hat, and then replied; “sir big gut. Nice to meet you kids!” Poundcake chuckled slightly, and then asked; “what are you?” The creature known as Big Gut then replied; “why I’m a gummy elephant!” After that, he trumpeted, like an elephant would do with their trunk. Seeing this, Flurry Heart looked in awe, and then said; “woah… . You’re so cool! And sweet!” Big Gut chuckled, and then says; “ho ho, indeed I am! Ho ho ho!” He then cleared his throat, and then said; “though I must warn you though… , there is a penalty if you were to somehow, ‘eat’ us.” Sombra got a little close to Big Gut, and asked him; “and what’s the penalty?”
Big Gut started to look nervous, and then responded; “well… , you see, um… . We’ve… . We’ve been never eaten before, as no one eats candy here.” Pumpkin Cake then asked; “why?” Big Gut then replied; “because we’re all friendly here! Well… . Except… .” Unfortunately, before Big Gut could finish his sentence, he was cut off with a loud; “halt!” and froze in his tracks. “Step away from the prisoner!” the voice said. And then a loud smack can be heard as something, or someone has landed on the ground. Turning to look at the sour looking being, Big Gut shivered, and then said; “oh… , um… . Hey Berry. Nice um… , gulp. Um… , nice to see you, I think. Um… , please… .” Once more, before he could finish, he was hit in the head, and then passed out; revealing the being that knocked him out.
Realizing the threat before them, King Sombra asked; “sooo… . You’re one of the sour guards, aren’t you?” The guard then said; “indeed I am!” and then bowed out of respect for someone recognizing him. Pumpkin Cake unhid a little from behind Sombra, and asked the guard; “so… what is your name? Berry?” The guard sniffed; as if offended, and then said with a regal and slight angry look and tone; “it’s Mister Sour Berry to you. And that’s gonna stay that way. Understand?!” Pumpkin Cake nodded, and hid again behind Sombra. But not before Sombra himself approached the guard, and then asked; “so… Sour Berry isn’t it? Hmm… . Why’d you hurt this guy? He was very sweet.” This caused Berry to twirl his spear, and slam it to the ground whilst saying; “because he’s an enemy of this land, and I must deal with him like all others before him! Is that understood?!” Sombra then nodded; “uh huh, uh huh… .” and then backed off a little before saying; “so… , if you’re a sour guard, and mister big gut here is sweet… ; doesn’t that mean that you and the sweets are at war?” Sour Berry sighs, got his spear unearthed and twirled it so it’ll have its head pointed up, and then he replied; “to be honest, it’s not me personally… . It’s him.” Flurry Heart then asked; “who?” and sat down on the ground. “You really want to know?” Berry asked; which made the group nod their heads. He sighs again, and then says; “gather round”, while gesturing with his licorice hand that isn’t holding the spear. The group had and waited.
“It was a bright and sunny day. We were all getting quite along with each other… . Right up until ‘he’ showed up, and ruined everything.” Sombra asked; “is it the Sour King?” Flurry Heart gasped, and looked at the guard. Berry then sighs, looks a little bit sad, and then says; “but you see; it’s not just him! It. It was… . Sigh. It was my brother too!” The kids of the group all gasped, and then Sombra replied; “so… , let me get this straight. The sours are at war… ; despite the fact that they were once at peace with the sweets? Why?” Berry then blurted out; “because of a peace treaty!” Sombra blinked, and then gestures before saying; “calm down pal, it’s not an interrogation. You’re just telling us a story is all. Alright? Just calm down… . It’s okay.” Sour Berry took some deep breaths, and then says; “but you really don’t get it. I’ve actually grown to like the sweets. I really do.” Pumpkin Cake then asked; “then why did you arrest them every time you saw one? That’s not you!” Sour Berry began to cry, and then he whimpered; “I’m just so done with this war… . Sniff. I wanna go home!” And then Berry continued crying.
Sombra sighs, got close to the guard, and then placed a shadow hand on one of his shoulders before saying; “I know bud… . And hey; we’re fixing on going home ourselves… . Do you know how we could end this war and have you and your kind get back to being friends again?” Sour Berry sniffled, nodded, and then got up a little to say; “you have to defeat the Sour King, but… .” “But what?” Sombra began as he got up too. “What’s the matter?” The guard sighs, and then Berry said; “the Sour King is my father… . He’s known for being extra sour. He just couldn’t help it!” Sombra then replied; “because he was sour to begin with?” Berry then blurts out; “because he made himself that way, that’s how!” Sombra said; “woah… “ and backed off. “We’re just trying to help you pal. We’re not… .” But before he could finish, Berry got up, and said; “you know what? Forget I said anything! I hope that you and your pals can stop this war… . I’m done with it!”
And with that, Sour Berry then took off all of his armor, and then slammed his spear into the ground once more before saying; “just… . Just don’t hurt him. Okay? Especially my brother too. They both just couldn’t help being this sour. It’s just… .” This time Sombra cuts him off, and then says; “look now; how about this: you can come with us, we can go to the castle, find some allies that’ll help us, and then we’ll imprison your brother and dad for what they’ve done, okay? What do you say… ?” “Well I… .” Berry began, but was feeling hesitant. “I-I don’t know about this. I mean… . I’ve never done anything like that before… . I… .” But before Berry could say anymore, Sombra then pats him on the back a little roughly, and then says; “relax… , we’ve done stuff like this before, we’re fine! And besides… , he he… .” he began before looking nervously towards the horizon, and states; “what’s the worst that can happen… ?” before smiling nervously.
Sombra and the others are currently on the path to Candy Castle. They have orders… . Orders that’ll potentially lead to victory, or defeat. Regardless, they have something to do. And that’s to defeat the Sour King, rescue Cozy Glow, and liberate all of Candyland from the Sour Soldiers. Things were going great for our heroes. Until… .
“Halt!” a female Sour Guard ordered. “Identify yourselves! Who are you with?” King Sombra approached the guard while also keeping his distance, and responded; “I am but a warrior, sent on a mission! And that mission is to liberate this fine land, and ensure that all of candy kind are united once more on this glorious day… .” The guard just facepalmed; probably having heard that speech from somewhere, but can’t remember the exact details, and then asked; “no, seriously. What’re you really doing here? Cuz you don’t look like that you’re from here. And you folks are certainly not heroes as much… . So what’re you guys really doing here?”
King Sombra sighs; cutting the theatrics short, and then states; “we’re just trying to stop this war and free our friend. That’s it. Why you ask?” The female guard chuckled, and then says; “because I’m on a mission too! To find you guys and bring you to the Sour King’s castle.” King Sombra looked hesitant, then asks; “and why is that? Are we being captured?” The female guard responded; “not exactly… “ and approached the group while continuing; “I’m actually here to bring you to your friend. She’s just in that cave over there, that’s lined with rock candy, and such.” Sombra nodded, but then says; “okay… “ before looking confused, and saying; “but wait! Who are you? And who sent you?” The guard sighs, chuckles a bit, then says; “my name’s Sour Drops actually. I’m Sour Berry’s brother.”
Flurry Heart approached the guard while also keeping her distance, and then asked Sour; “wait, so you’re his brother? How come he didn’t tell us that?” Sour Drops sighed, and then says; “my brother always does that. He’s never been nice to me for so long, and I’ve just kinda gotten sick of it. That’s all. Why’d you ask that?” Sombra replied; “because she’s curious… “ and crosses his arms. He then continued by asking; “so… , since you and your brother have some history with each other… , do you need some advice?” Drops chuckles, and then she says; “nah, it’s good, I can handle it. Besides; we’re the Sours. We’re known to be rude to each other, but it’s all in good fun, right?” Sombra then replied; “I guess… “ and walked away a bit. “I just don’t think it’s healthy… , that’s all.” “Pshh, it’s all alright.” Sour Drops said before gesturing with her free hand that isn’t wielding her spear. “Now come along now, you’re friend’s waiting for us!”
Sombra approached a little closer to the guard and asked; “what’s the hurry? Is it a trap?” Sour Drops turned back with a raised eyebrow and states; “if I were to have led you into a trap, then I wouldn’t be so nice to you and have told you all of that personal stuff about me now would I?” Sombra sighs, and then says; “I guess… “ before looking down in hesitation and saying; “but I don’t trust you though… .” Sour Drops gestured and replies; “pshh, it’s fine… . Besides, what’s the worst that can happen?” As if on cue, a wild gummy bear jumped in front of the group, and roared a vicious roar. With that in mind, Sour Drops says; “run… “ and ran away. The others followed suit, and were given chase.
The group entered the cave just in time, and saw that the wild gummy bear has lost their tracks before it ran in the opposite direction. With that, the group then paused to catch their breaths, and regained their bearings; (pun not intended). Afterwards, Sombra turned to Sour Drops, and asks, “so where’s Cozy Glow?” After he asked that, Cozy Glow approached from the darkness, and then says; “right here!” This caused Sombra to yelp in surprise; along with the others; (aside from Sour Drops, who wasn’t scared), and then he asked; “geez, you scared me… . Don’t do that next time!” Cozy Glow giggled, then replied; “my bad,” before giggling some more.
After Sombra and the others calmed down again, he then asked; “so, how’d you wind up here? I thought you were captured or something… ?” Cozy Glow blushed, then replied; “well… , I was… . But then I used my manipulation skills to get Sour Drops to free me! I hope you’re not mad… .” Sour Drops replied with; “eh, I’m sure that we’ll forgive you; given time. But before we could get to the forgiving part, how’re you guys supposed to defeat my father?”
Sombra blinked in surprise, then asked; “you knew?” Sour chuckled, and then replied; “meh, to be honest, I’m a spy. Well… , not really a spy… , but a good hider, you see?” Sombra nodded, then said; “nice job… “ and gave a thumbs up. After that, he asked; “but wait… . How’re you so nice? Usually the sour candies aren’t so nice… .” Sour Drops sighs, and then says; “look pal, we’re not so bad once you gets to know us. And besides, you’ve said it yourself: you’re gonna liberate us and get us all sweets and sours unified! Right?” Sombra rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, and then says; “well… . Not my exact words… , but yeah.” Cozy smiled, then asked; “but wait. What do we do now?” Sour Drops sighs, knelt down to the cave floor, then replied; “I don’t know honestly… . I was hoping that you folks could help me, right?”
Sombra was thinking for a minute, and then says; “maybe… . But I don’t know… . I mean… . I don’t know exactly how we’re gonna make it to the castle without getting spotted. I just can’t figure it out… .” Sour Drops blushes, and then replied; “well… . There is one way… . But I don’t think that you’ll like it.” Sombra sighs, and then says; “is there another way that we could infiltrate the castle without us being in chains?” Sour Drops nodded, sighs also, and then says; “we could try the secret entrance. But I don’t know if that’ll work.” Cozy then asked; “why?” To which point, Sour responded; “because the entrance hasn’t been used in decades… ! And besides! We really can’t get past there without encountering patrols or checkpoints… . Understand?” Sombra nodded, but said; “hey, I’m sure it could work, right? I mean… , what’s the worst that can happen?”
As if on cue, there’s a massive roar behind them coming from the cave entrance. Knowing what it is, Sombra says to himself; “I really gotta keep my mouth shut… “ before hearing another roar once more.
After narrowly avoiding being attacked by a wild gummy bear, the group then stopped in their tracks to catch their breaths.
“Woah that was intense…” Sombra said whilst panting due to being out of breath from running. “I really thought that everything was sweet… . Guess not… .” After that, he then pants some more.
Sipping from her water bottle that she somehow brought with her when being teleported into the board game; Pumpkin Cake then looked up at the sky, and says; “huh… . I honestly thought that it was gonna be nighttime by now… . How’s that?”
Sour Drops got up while panting, and then says whilst still exhausted; “it’s just how it is… . It’s been like that for who knows how long… ?” Sombra then blurts out; “maybe it’s been like that ever since the game was created?” She nodded, and said; “maybe…“ whilst panting some more. After that, Sour Drops then turned to Sombra while looking confused, and asked; “what’s a game?” Realizing what he just said, Sombra then blurts out; “forget I said anything…” whilst catching his breath some more. Sour nodded, and went to go sit down somewhere so she could rest.
After the group are renenergized, they then gathered together to think of a plan. Poundcake suggests that they scale the walls, and sneak inside. Pumpkin Cake suggests that they acquire guard uniforms, and disguise their way inside. The others suggested fighting, but denied that option afterwards… .
At a loss, the group all sighed in defeat, and then sat down looking defeated. Well… . At least until… . “I got it!” Pumpkin Cake said whilst looking like that she’s got an idea. “Alright, here’s what we do… “ and then the group all huddled so Pumpkin Cake can tell them her idea on how to break in to the castle to defeat the Sour King… .
“Pumpkin Cake’s plan was genius!” Sombra began narrating. “It was a plan so advanced, that even I’m shocked about… .” Sombra then cleared his throat before saying; “the plan was this… . First, Poundcake flew above the eyes as our scout, and reported back everything he saw. Next, we sent Sour Drops to make a fake report that her brother: Sour Berry, was missing. The guards guarding the entrance fell for it, and ran off… , giving us time to sneak inside. After that, we waited till the coast was clear, and snuck past the guards. Or took them out quickly if they saw us… . Finally, we’ve made it to the throne room, and found the Sour King asleep. At first, we thought it was too easy… . But then… .”
Suddenly, before Sombra could finish narrating, he was stunned to see a spear slam so closely to him, that he just kept his mouth shut while he and his pals were tied up with licorice ropes… . “Quiet!” a guard shouts while retrieving his spear from the ground. “The king will be with you shortly… .” After that, he stood at attention and waited for any other intruders; (other than the group), to arrive and stop this madness.
Sour Berry is currently trying his best to keep his cool… . Reason? He’s afraid of what might happen ever since his sister sent him a letter; telling him that the group needs him ASAP. That way, he’ll be able to help Sombra and his pals in saving Candyland, and for stopping their family from ruining the entire kingdom into nothing but sourness and loss of hope.
After some deep breaths, plus slapping himself as a motivation of sorts… he starts to look determined, and went jogging to the castle. “I think I’m ready…” Sour Berry said to himself. “I think I can do this… . And if not… .” Sour Berry then gulped in nervousness before saying; “then I’m most certainly a goner… . But hey… . It’s not like anything bad can happen… . Right… ?” Just then, a wild gummy bear jumped behind him, and roared a vicious roar. With that, he states; “I’ve really gotta stop saying that too… .” and ran off to the castle while being chased.
Flurry Heart and the others are currently fighting their restraints so they could help King Sombra. Meanwhile… , Sombra is grasped by the king by his neck. It didn’t hurt… . But considering that the Sour King has bits of sour flakes on his arms… , and the fact that he’s entirely made of black licorice… , it’s starting to… .
“Well, well, well… . What do we have here… .” the Sour King began. “Looks like we’ve got a false king and his rooks here to stop me… ! Care to explain why?” With that, Sombra replied; “because we’re sick and tired of you always being so harsh to the sweets! I mean, I get it: you’re sour, they’re sweet. But it doesn’t give you the rights to be so cruel to them… ! Even… if it means… , being the king to get what you want… .” Sombra then begins to pass out as he’s too exhausted with fighting the Sour King a while back, and not being able to deal any real damage to him.
Struggling from her restraints, Flurry Heart then looked at the Sour King, and says; “you don’t have to do this! Some of your guards wanted to actually be friends with the sweets! Please… . I’m begging you! Don’t do this!” The Sour King then stomped his foot on the ground, and says; “tough cookies!” The group gasped as the Sour King has supposedly said a swear. The Sour King then replied; “I will do what I can when I want to because I am king! Or my name isn’t Bubblegum Poopbottom.” Poundcake snickered, and says; “that’s your name… ? Bubblegum Poopbottom? What kind of ridiculous name is that… ?” The Sour King stomped his foot again while clenching his fists from being angry, and shouts; “this is why I became king! So that way no one in this world, or any other world will make fun of me!” Sombra awoke with a bit of a wheeze and gasp as he’s being crushed by the Sour King’s grasp. Seeing that her friend is being crushed, Flurry Heart gasped, and shouts; “let him go! You’re hurting him… .” The Sour King looked at Sombra, and back at Flurry Heart before replying; “you worried about him? Fine! Take him!” With that, the Sour King arched back, and threw Sombra with a mighty heave towards Flurry Heart.
But, just before Flurry Heart could get hurt, Sombra was caught by Sour Drops; whom just so happens to be flying with her licorice wings, which almost resembles that of a dragon. Meanwhile, Sour Berry gets in front of his father, kneels down, and pleads; “listen to me father! These people, and the sweets have done nothing wrong… ! You’ve got to stop this madness!” The Sour King then replied back; “oh… ? And what if I don’t hmm? You don’t got the gum balls to stand up to me!” Berry sighs, and says; “you’re right… . I don’t… .” But eventually stands up and says with a determined look while pointing to something; “but he can… .” After a while, a wild Gummy Bear appeared at the front of the gates… , and roared a vicious roar. Seeing this, the Sour King gulped, and then says; “please don’t let this hurt… .” and then braces for what’s about to happen.
The group is stretching because they’re a little stiff and or sore from being tied up. As for Sombra… . He’s just too busy laughing at what Poundcake had told him: the Sour King’s name. And it was hilarious.
“You’ll regret this!” Bubblegum said whilst tied up by his own licorice ropes. “You’ll ‘all’ regret this! I swear it!” But before he could continue, the wild bear covered his mouth, growling at him because the bear’s not done attacking the Sour King… . So with that, the doors to the Candyland version of a SWAT van closed, and pulled away… . As for the Sour King, he can be heard being attacked inside the van by the wild bear.
“So…” Sombra said. “What do you guys and gals wanna do now… ?” With a pleading gesture, Flurry Heart begged; “can we please stay here? Please… ?” Sombra sighs, then says; “I don’t know kid… . This isn’t exactly our world you know… . We can’t live here… .” Flurry Heart then hugged Sombra tightly with a sniff, and then states; “I know that… . I just wanna stay here for a little longer… . Please can we do that… ?” Not wanting to see his friend cry; due to the fact of what transpired in that castle with the Sour King and all, Sombra sighs again, chuckles, and then says; “I’ll think about it…” before looking back at Sour Drops and asked; “so… . Can we?” Sour Drops sighs this time, smiles while shaking her head, and states; “if you stay here a little longer… , then you’re helping us cleaning this mess. Okay?”
Sombra was about to say something, but sighs, and says; “fine… . But next time that we visit here, no more cleanups, okay? I’ve known what it’s like to clean up messes involving candy… . Trust me… .” Sour Drops just chuckles to herself while shaking her head again, and then says; “just clean up… . We’re not gonna leave you alone to do it all by yourself… . Right? We sours can be sweet too; ironically. Okay? What do you say… ?” Sombra sighs once more, and then says; “fine…” before grabbing a broom that’s leaning on the wall. “But I’m calling the shots on our next adventure. Got it?” Sour Drops shakes her head while chuckling again, and then says; “we’ll see…” before grabbing a broom as well, and helping Sombra clean up. With that, the entire group is cleaning up the castle, and are having fun whilst telling some jokes and short stories along the way… .
Sombra and the others are about to cross the portal that leads back to their world, when suddenly Sour Drops said; “wait!” and ran up to Sombra to give him a hug. “Be sure to not forget me, okay?” Sombra chuckles, and says; “how could I not? We’ll be back here anyways when we feel like it, okay?” Drops nodded, and gave Sombra a playful slug to the arm. Rubbing his arm from it, he chuckles and smiles while looking back at Sour Drops one last time… .
“Ready?” Sombra said to Flurry Heart while holding onto her hoof. “Ready.” Flurry Heart said while looking determined. “Alright…” Sombra said while looking up at the portal above them. “Here we go… .” With that, the portal sucked Sombra and his pals back into Equestria.
With the outworlders no longer there, Sour Drops said; “wanna race me back to the castle?” Sour Berry laughs, and says; “you’re on sis… ! Let’s go!” And with that, the two sour guards raced each other back to the castle, and are having a great time doing so.
Sombra is pacing back and forth; disappointed, and a little angry because of one thing… . “You didn’t even think to check and see if the stove/oven was off before you went someplace else?” Sombra said to Cozy Glow; whom is looking ashamed at herself, and is on the verge of tears. After taking some deep breaths, he states; “you know what? Forget it! I hope you’re happy with what you did… . Cuz it’s definitely gonna be you who’s paying for all of these damages! After that, Cozy Glow began crying because of what she’s done.
Few hours later, and the castle looks mostly better… . Safe for the few remaining charred/burn marks somewhere in the castle. “I hope you learned something from this… ” Sombra said as he’s sweeping up the floors from the ash everywhere. Cozy Glow sniffled, and replied; “yes sir… “ before getting back to cleaning up the mess she made from leaving the oven on. Sombra then sighs, looks towards Cozy Glow, and states; “if it makes you feel any better, I was thinking maybe we can get some ice cream after this, okay? What do you say?” With that, Cozy gasped with excitement, and flew up to Sombra to give him a hug. Unfortunately, this made the ash piles scatter, and cover both Sombra and her. Chuckling while shaking his head, Sombra says; “we’ll work on that… ” and hugs Cozy Glow in return; with both of them laughing and smiling from their predicament.
