Hearts and Hooves Day arrives at the School of Friendship, and Head-mare Starlight decided that the school will celebrate the occasion with confessing to their friends about how their relationships mean to them.
Gallus, having a bit of romantic feelings for Silverstream, struggles to figure out a way to confess how he views their relationship . Will he make a good confession before it is too late?

I am rather neutral with Gallustream, just like I am neutral with most of the ships, but I still wish that it can become cannon alongside many opposite sex couples.

Prologue: Countdown to Hearts and Hooves Day

View Online

In the School of Friendship, all the students were in the main hall, where assemblies and gatherings are usually held. The school’s vice head-stallion, Sunburst, was already on the platform to start the announcement.

“Good morning, students!” he greeted, “As you all know, Hearts and Hooves Day is just around the corner! And to celebrate this occasion, Head-mare Starlight has decided to go shopping for materials that we will be using. But the main point is, Hearts and Hooves Day is not really about gifts and dates, it is meant to be about love, friendship and care! So we, or most likely, your Head-mare, hopes that all of you students can tell your friends what they mean to you, and report what happens to us,”

The students cheered after hearing the news, before parting off to class. Gallus, the only griffon was with his best friends walking to their next class, before ha conversation between the Young Six started.

“Hearts and Hooves Day? About love and friendship and care? Pfft! Sounds lame for dragons” Smolder commented, starting the conversation.

“But it won’t be for you, Smolder, when you got friends!” Ocellus told her best friend.

“Yeah, it’s a lot better with you guys,” Smolder admitted.

“Yona can’t wait to spend Hearts and Hooves Day with friends!” Yona declared, before turning to Sandbar, “Especially with you, Sandbar.”

“Of course, Yona! But don’t forget that it’s for every creature!” Sandbar blushed a bit before he replied.

“And you must be happy to have a special some pony...or some creature!” Silverstream teased.

“Yes, as long as friends don’t tease Yona and Sandbar.” Yona responded.

“Don’t worry, we’ll keep the teasing down...” Silverstream joked.

“Hey, Gallus! How come you did not say anything yet? Aren’t you happy that Hearts and Hooves Day is coming?” Sandbar asked the only other male of the group, noticing how quiet the griffon was. “Well, I...I” Gallus stumbled, before answering, “I actually was excited, until Vice Head-stallion Sunburst announced that we will be confessing how our relationships mean to us.”

“But isn’t it as easy as telling the truth?” Ocellus asked.

“It won’t for some cases...especially when you figured that it will make you...embarrassed.” Gallus nervously replied, with cold sweat flowing down his chin.

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you through it, no matter what.” Silverstream assured, placing her claw on Gallus’ shoulder.

“Um, Gallus? Was that a blush I saw on your face?” Ocellus asked, noticing the griffon’s red cheeks.

“What?! NO! It was...” Gallus denied, before he was cut off by one of the Friendship Tutors, Sweetie Belle.

“Hey, don’t you know that class is starting?!” she asked.

Realising that they were in big trouble, the Young Six quickly forgot about their conversation and rushed to class.

Gallus' Confession Problem

View Online

Guidance Counsellor Trixie was sitting in her office, waiting for any creature in need of advice, or just talking herself to prevent boredom. The fragile peace was broken by a knock on the door, making her panic as she did not want whoever knocking to know about what she does during free time.

“Come in!” Trixie called to the creature knocking.

Into the room came Gallus, the only griffon at the school. He flew onto the seat for whoever visits the counsellor before greeting, “Goof afternoon, Counsellor Trixie, I believe that I really could use some advice here.”

“Well, then you’re in luck! Because the Great and Powerful Trixie, is also the great Counsellor Trixie!” Trixie declared in her magician’s tone during a performance.

“Back to the main point?” Gallus reminded her after clearing his throat.

“Oh, yes. Thanks for the reminder Gallus, you may now begin.” Trixie replied.

“About the upcoming Hearts and Hooves Day... “ Gallus begun, before Trixie cut him off.

“Ah, yes. Hearts and Hooves Day! The one day of the year where every creature show their love, friendship and care to each other! I may not have any special some pony or creature, but I still have a place in my heart for this day! And...” Trixie dramatically described, before Gallus cleared his throat to catch her attention.

“Sorry, go on.” Trixie told the student.

“Alright. Head-mare Starlight wants us all to confess our views about our relationships to our friends. I know that telling the truth is easy, but not in all situations.” Gallus explained, “Plus, my problem is telling Silverstream how much our relationship meant to me! Or how I think about it! Because...I think that I have some kind of special feelings for her...just like Yona and Sandbar’s feelings for each other...”

“Aha!” Trixie exclaimed, “The Great and Powerful Trixie knows it!”

“Knows what?” a confused Gallus asked.

“That, you, Gallus, has special feelings for your love interest Silverstream!” Trixie clarified.

“What?! Love interest?! You’re just kidding, aren’t you?!” Gallus denied, not noticing his blush.

“Come on, young griffon! You just admitted it! I'm sure telling her won’t be an issue!” Trixie confidently declared.

“Um, hello?! You’re not Silverstream! Telling her won’t be the same as telling you!” Gallus pointed out.

“Oh, then what do you want me to do?” Trixie asked.

“I don’t know. Give advice? Suggest? Help? Train me? Whatever you think can help.” Gallus listed as a reply.

“Wait. Train you! That’s it! I, the Great and Powerful Trixie, shall help you by training you!” Trixie announced in her performance speech tone.

“Shouldn’t we get started?!” Gallus asked.

“Oh, yes. Of course.” Trixie answered.

The next few minutes, Trixie had Gallus to try writing down what he wanted to tell Silverstream, but he only wrote a few words before groaning, “It’s just too hard!”

The next second, a knock on the door could be heard. Not wanting the visitor to see his words, Gallus rolled up the paper and hid it behind his back before Trixie let the creature in.

“Hi, Counsellor Trixie!” Silverstream cheerfully greeted. The young hippogriff trotted in and found who she was looking for. “Gallus! There you are! I’ve been looking all over the school for you! What’s wrong?! Why haven’t you told any creature about why you were acting so strange?”

“Me?! Acting strange?! What are you talking about?!” Gallus asked, nervous chuckling as he spoke, with cold sweat flowing down his chin.

A series of flashbacks then presented to his mind:

In the first flashback, during Loyalty Class...

“Alright, every creature! I know that Hearts and Hooves Day is coming, but it is no excuse to let it make you forget about your best friends just to be with your Special some creature. Now for the topic of the day: Caring about others! You are meant to care about your friends more than anything else! Show support, friendship, love...” Rainbow Dash declared, before being interrupted by Gallus’ screaming as his eyes went red.

“AAAAHHHH!”

“What is it, Gallus?!” Rainbow turned to her student.

“I don’t know! All this talking about love...just...I can’t say it!” he panicked.

In the second flashback, during Generosity Class...

“Now, class. Today we all will be making our Hearts and Hooves Day Gift Basket! Meant to be for all of our friends!” Rarity explained. “Now, here’s the basket, the first must-have thing, and now the Love Letters!”

“WHAT?!” Gallus shrieked, going crazy around love-related words.

“Um, Gallus? Would you be a good dear and explain what’s wrong with you?” Rarity asked.

“What’s wrong with me?! I...can’t...say anything! Just...go on, as if nothing happened!” Gallus stumbled as he replied.

In the third and final flashback, during Honesty Class...

“Now, every creature, today we’ll be helping you prepare for your confessions on Hearts and Hooves Day. You know, confess your friendship and love...” Applejack explained, before being interrupted by Gallus’ uncomfortable shouting.

“I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE! WHY ISN’T THERE ANY ESCAPE FROM THIS LOVE THING?!” he asked, before fainting.

In the present, Gallus let out a nervous chuckle before saying, “I guess that that whole Hearts and Hooves Day thing was really driving me nuts.”

“So, are you okay? Now?” Silverstream asked, expressing concern.

Gallus gulped. He did appreciate every time Silverstream showed her care towards him, and how much she appreciated him, but this time, it was making him nervous. He briefly blushed before replying, “Everything’s near fine! Thanks for trying to help! And caring about me! I’m sure Guidance Counsellor Trixie can help! See you later!”

“Are you sure?” asked Silverstream, noticing how obvious it was that Gallus was not alright.

“Just...need a little PRIVATE time with the Counsellor, nothing to worry about.” Gallus told her, before she left, uncomfortably and curious about his behaviour.

“Man...that was close.” he told Trixie.

“Too close. You almost spilled the beans without telling her!” Trixie replied.

“What do you mean ’without telling her’? How can she know if no creature tell her?” Gallus asked.

“Well...when Trixie was with her best friend, your Head-mare Starlight, she learnt many times that actions speak louder than words, so even though you did not say anything, your behaviour and actions are a major giveaway.”
Trixie explained in third-creature,.

Gallus panicked after hearing the explanation, “Oh no! If she ever figures it out, who knows what she’ll do?! She might never act the same towards me ever again!”

Silverstream's Misbelief

“No, no, no, no! I can’t let her find out! Our whole relationship can change!” Gallus panicked back and forth.

“Isn’t she supposed to find out? I mean, you are supposed to tell her the truth about your feelings for her, eventually.” Trixie reminded him.

“But...but...but...it isn’t supposed to happen before I tell her!” Gallus protested, while he was still panicking.

Meanwhile, in the school library, Silverstream visited the rest of her best friends. “Hey guys!” she cheerfully greeted, “So, what are we studying? And not to distract you by changing the topic, but do you think that there is something wrong with Gallus?”

The other members of the Young Six looked at each other before Sandbar replied, “Well, since he was acting kind of crazy whenever we mention love, so of course. There’s something wrong with him.”

“If there’s something wrong with him, he would have just told us! But he didn’t!” Smolder stated.

“Or maybe he’s embarrassed to tell us. He may be scared of telling us,” Ocellus suggested.

“But we are friends! Friends should not be scared to tell each other things!” Yona argued.

“If you must know, when I found him at Counsellor Trixie’s, he didn’t want to tell me anything but ‘I’m fine’. He then acted like he wanted me to leave, even when I cared about him!” Silverstream added.

“Wait, so you meant that Gallus did not appreciate your care towards him?!” Smolder asked.

Silverstream sadly nodded, a second before Yona asked, “And did not want to tell you why he was acting so differently?" Yona added.

"And wanted you to leave?" Ocellus asked.

"And since he acted crazy around mentions of love, and kept wanting to shun others out, that means..." Sandbar gasped.

"That Gallus doesn't like Hearts and Hooves Day! And wants nothing to do with it, nor us!" Silverstream figured out, exclaiming her theory.

"How can Gallus not want anything to do with Heats and Hooves Day?!" Ocellus asked.

"Didn't he changed to like being with his friends?!" Silverstream asked, with a bit of sadness in her tone.

"Should we ask him why?" Smolder suggested.

"We can, but will he answer?" Yona asked.

"We can see Guidance Counsellor Trixie..." Sandbar begun, before he remembered something, "Oh, wait. Gallus is with her, and he needs some time away from us."

"Or maybe we can ask Head-mare Starlight?" Silverstream suggested.

"Didn't Vice Head-stallion Sunburst say that she went shopping?" Smolder asked.

"Actually, I'm done with shopping," a familiar voice said.

The Young Six(except Gallus) gasped as they turned to see that right beside them was their Head-mare Starlight Glimmer.

"Hed-mare Starlight!" Silverstream exclaimed.

"I overheard your conversation, and know that your friend Gallus seems a little off." Starlight told the top students.

"Speaking of Gallus, can you help us check if he's okay?" Sandbar asked.

"Oh! I actually went to see Trixie earlier, and figured that Gallus is lately overwhelmed by needing to confess how a relationship with a friend mattered to him," Starlight responded.

"A friend? Who?!" the students asked in unison.

"Better for me to not tell, as it would ruin his work," Starlight answered, before proceeding to her next destination.

"Wait!" Silverstream called out, catching the unicorn's attention."Is the relationship Gallus is worried about alright?"

"Actually, he's scared that it would change not for the better, when he tells who his relationship is with how he views it."
Starlight admitted, before leaving a concerned Silverstream behind.

Later, in her room, Silverstream had her wall filled with papers and red lines, making it like a detective's mystery-solving wall. Figuring that she needed more evidence and clues to find out whose relationship with Gallus was bothering him.

The next few days in school, Silverstream asked interrogated teachers about Gallus' behaviour, and figured that he acted normal around every student and staff in the school, with the exception of his best friends.

With her and her friends as the only remaining suspects, Silverstream figured that she could identify who Gallus was uncomfortable with by having each of the suspects to have private time with Gallus.

Silverstream was the first to have one-on-one privacy with Gallus, who could barely act normal around her, and was blushing uncomfortably, with noticeable cold sweat flowing down his chin. As fast as a minute flew, Gallus claimed that he needed some alone time.

After the final suspect, Sandbar, spent time with Gallus, the records were out:

Gallus was uncomfortable the most around Silverstream, and dismissed her in the shortest time.
Gallus had a good, tough conversation with Smolder.
He had good time with Ocellus, comparing their shades of blue.
He had a great time talking about what griffons and yes have in common with Yona.
And Gallus obviously had a great time hanging out with the only other male of the group, Sandbar.

Silverstream then finally solved the puzzle's heart-breaking answer:

The one creature whom Gallus was uncomfortable of admitting his views about his relationship with, was...her.

Gallus and Silverstream Admit their True Feelings for Each Other

View Online

The next day, which was the eve of Hearts and Hooves Day, every creature was getting ready to admit their relationship opinions. With the exception of Silverstream, who barely slept the previous night, having cried and stayed awake because of her broken heart.

Gallus then showed up and greeted his best friends, "Hey, every creature, are you all ready to hear my..." he then noticed the zombie-like expression on Silverstream, before screaming in horror and asking, "Silverstream! What is wrong with you?!"

"What's wrong with her? You! That's what." Smolder answered her own question for Gallus to hear.

"What do you mean?" Gallus asked.

"What Smolder meant was, Blue Griffon hurt Silverstream's feelings!" Yona clarified.

"You acted all uncomfortable whenever she's around, and Head-mare Starlight said that you are uncomfortable with confessing your relationship with a 'friend' to that 'friend'! And you were afraid that it would go bad after that 'friend' knowing it! And, it really did!" Ocellus evaluated.

"What?!" Gallus asked in shock.

"Silverstream figured out it was her, and you must be hating her!" Sandbar finished his and his friends' side of the conversation.

"What?! No!" Gallus exclaimed before rushing up to Silverstream, "Silverstream, I'm so sorry! Please forgive and listen to me! The truth is: I do not hate you, and I never did, nor do."

"WHAT?!" the rest of the Young Six asked in shock.

"Wait, you didn't?!" Silverstream asked, regaining energy.

"The only reason I was uncomfortable around you, was because...I was actually nervous and scared that you would be shocked to know my true feelings for you, because...it's pretty...dramatic. The point is, I actually have a strong feeling for you, and it actually is...love. I love you," Gallus confessed, holding up Silverstream's claw with his.

Silverstream instantly reverted to her cheerful, hyperactive self, as she asked, "REALLY?!"

"Yes, I have a crush...on you." Gallus admitted.

"Oh, Gallus! This is the best news I have ever heard and ever had!" Silverstream hugged the griffon she loved.

"Wait, what?! You're not shocked?!" he asked.

Silverstream explained, "I was heart-brokered when I thought that you hated me, and never slept the whole night because I was so upset! And the only reason I was so upset to strongly believe that you hated me, was because I loved you. Romantically."

"What?! I thought you didn't!" Gallus responded.

"Me too! Especially when I thought you hated me!" Silverstream blurted out.

"Looks like we do have a special relationship after all," Gallus commented.

"We do?! That's amazing! I can't wait to let our teachers know..." Silverstream began, before being cut off by Ocellus.

"Um, Silverstream? You...actually don't have to." the cyan changeling then pointed to the crowd of ponies in the Main Hall, making the two lovers realise that they just admitted their feelings for each other in front of the entire school!

With their cheeks turning red, Gallus and Silverstream were obviously embarrassed as Gallus spoke up, "Well, at least you all know what admitting your true feelings for each other is like!"

"And maybe can be more prepared and confident to do so?!" Silverstream added.

"Gallus, Silverstream," Head-mare Starlight approached the two, "I know how embarrassing this is for you two, but that was one of the bravest things I've ever seen you two do. So I decided, that you two shall get the highest scores for this year's Hearts and Hooves' Event!"

The crowd cheered for Gallus and Silverstream, who were relieved that the moment of embarrassment ended as soon as it began.

Later that evening, Gallus and Silverstream were in Silverstream's room, cleaning up the mountain of used tissues, and the detective's workings.

"I can't believe that you did all this...because of... me..." Gallus told Silverstream, feeling guilty for how he made his friend suffer.

"I'm sorry too, Gallus...for being so...dramatic..." Silverstream apologised.

"Oh great. We both did something we feel sorry about, and apologised to each other. Can't this day get any mushier about our relationship?" Gallus asked.

He then took a step backward, not noticing a small needle from Rarity's stitching class that was hiding there. Upon getting poked by its sharp edge, Gallus screamed in pain while leaping forward, resulting his first kiss with Silverstream, as his beak made contact with hers.

Embarrassed and blushing, Gallus tried to apologise for the unintended kiss, "I'm so sorry! That was an accident! I didn't mean to..."

Instead of being mad or upset, Silverstream was actually happy about the kiss. She told Gallus, "Oh, Gallus! That kiss was the best thing ever!"

"It is?!" a confused Gallus asked.

"I was really upset when I thought you hated me, and was really cheered up to know that you truly loved me, and now, that kiss...was everything I could ask for..." Silverstream described, with obviously daydreaming of romance, as hinted in her tone.

"Really?! You...liked the...you know...kiss?!" Gallus nervously asked.

Silverstream nodded. She then replied, "It was everything to me,"

"So...you liked the kiss, and my true feelings for you?" Gallus asked.

"Totally!" Silverstream exclaimed, sending like the Laughter Teacher, Pinkie Pie.

"I...I...like it, too...you know." Gallus admitted, blushing in embarrassment, "And since we both like...each other...should we start a relationship like Yona and Sandbar?" Gallus asked.

"But I thought you said that you were afraid that our relationship will change!" Silverstream reminded him.

"Only because I thought that you'll reject me." Gallus clarified.

"So you really want us to be a...thing?" Silverstream asked.

"Well, yeah...I mean no...I mean...something like...that?" Gallus stumbled.

"Don't worry, I'll be ready when you are." Silverstream assured him.

"Okay...I actually think that it's mushy like Yona and Sandbar...but...now I figured...maybe it's not really that bad..." Gallus admitted, before Silverstream interfered.

"WHAT?! You thought that romance is bad?!" she asked in a tone that strongly resembled Pinkie Pie's crazy tone.

"Well, I didn't! I mean...we teased Yona and Sandbar at the Amity Ball, and a few days ago about their relationship...I just don't want you to get teased..." Gallus explained.

"But didn't Professor Fluttershy and our friend Smolder taught the dragons that we should not hide our true passions just because they may risk making us get teased?" Silverstream reminded.

"I...guess that I have a lot of Friendship Studies to each up on..." Gallus scratched his head, embarrassed.

"Don't worry, I'll help you." Silverstream reassured him, placing her claw on his shoulder.

In the Future...

After the events of 'The Last Problem', a tall adult hippogriff Silverstream flew from Ponyville to Canterlot. She landed in front of a building that was Shining Armor's former house. With Gallus as the current Captain of the Royal Guard, and Shining Armor residing far away in the Crystal Empire, Princess Twilight figured to give her brother's unused, abandoned former home to the married Gallus and Silverstream, and one of Silverstream's relatives who serve as their helper.

"I'm back!" she announced immediately after opening the door.

"Right on time, Silver," Gallus called his wife by her nickname, as he held their babies in his claws.

"Did they miss me?!" Silverstream asked.

"Yes, they dd." Gallus answered, just before the triplets he was holding woke up.

"Ma ma!" the three babies called Silverstream.

"Aw...who's a good bunch of babies?" she cooed.

"So, how's all of our friends?" Gallus asked.

"They were all alright! Yona and Sandbar were running Carousel Boutique, Ocellus taught every creature animal care, Smolder was teaching loyalty, and I had a great time being the Laughter Teacher!" Silverstream explained.

"Great! So, have you met Luster Dawn? You know, Twilight's star student? She just sent her to Ponyville?" Gallus asked.

"Yup! And Luster was reunited with her parents, Head-mare Starlight and Vice Head-stallion Sunburst! And met evry creature!" Silverstream answered.

"Huh, glad that they get to be reunited, as it's such a shame that they sent Luster to live in their former hometown, Sire's Hollow, with their parents so they could run the school while she was still a baby." Gallus commented.

"Yeah, that crazy story just got even crazier when Luster turned out to be a child prodigy, and got into Princess Twilight's school when she casted an age spell on herself!" Silverstream added.

"I'm just glad that one of your many relatives get to babysit our babies for us, when we are busy." Gallus declared.

"I am too, I just can't believe it if our babies went down the same road Luster did." Silverstream commented, as a joke.

"Yeah, so glad." Gallus responded, before he and his wife looked at their babies once more.
