Night Time In Equestria

View Online

"Princess Luna had a vacant expression on her face as she leaned on her throne, Her eyes struggling to stay open. She had her hoof on the arm support of her throne, which helped keep her head up. Here she was in charge of governing the night, and absolutely everyone was asleep. Princess Luna perked up slightly, a smile now overtaking her expression as she looked towards the ceiling of her throne room, looking around for the disembodied voice."

"Discord is that you?"

"Maybe~"

"Discord get down here right this second"

"Princess Luna said, attempting to stifle a giggle, because she knew that Discord was the funniest Draconequus she ever met."

"You're the only Draconequus we've ever met"

"That's besides the point..."

"Discord-"

Discord pounced on top of Luna, interrupting her and causing both of them to fly off the raised-platform-throne-thingy, as Discord affectionately called it. They whisked through the air before they rolled onto the ground, finally ending with Discord pinning Luna to the ground.

"You rang?"

Luna stared up at Discord as he looked down at her smugly.

"Di- Wh-wh, we do... Wha- Disc..." Luna said with red creeping on her face, clashing with her dark blue fur.

"Guess what Lulu," Discord said smirking as he put his finger on her nose.

"W-What," Luna said looking up at Discord, his nickname for her causing the red on her face to darken.

"Tag, You're it"

Discord Scrambled off of Luna and he began to scurry down on all fours across the throne room as Luna laid in shock for a short while, before she made a sudden realization.

"Discord you fiend," Luna shouted, scrambling to her feet before she charged at Discord, "Though shalt not best me in tag once again you whelp".

"Oh poor Lulu," Discord said scurrying away from Luna, who was now barreling towards him, making his way over to a door at the side of the throne room.

Discord turned around to face Luna before simply informing her, "You are in way over your head".

Discord dived backwards passing through the door and into the hallway, and ,with grace, he landed face first into the the hallway floor, causing his whole body to crumple up and release in a slinky like motion. As he landed on the ground he heard Luna shouting through the door.

"HEY, GET BACK HERE YOU WHELP," Luna shouted. The door was then slammed open, and Discord smirked as he witnessed a fuming Luna stare daggers at him, the playful smirk on her face betraying her intentions.

"Well I suppose you won the game fair an- WHATS THAT OVER THERE," Discord shouted, pointing behind Luna who , to her credit, stared at him unflinching. Then a giant explosion went off behind her. She whipped her head around to see an actual firework going off in the throne room.

"The servants will be livid," Luna said staring at the throne room. They where probably going to be woken up and then she would have to smooth things over with her sister, so that she wasn't killed... Then Luna realized her mistake and she spun her head around, only to see Discord half-way across the hallway flying as fast as his mismatched wings could carry him.

"THAT WAS CHEAP," Luna shouted as she resumed her chase. Discord glanced back, only to see that Luna was gaining on him, fast.

Discord thought for a moment, but only a moment, before he raised his hand and snapped his fingers. All of a sudden Luna's eyes dilated as she witnessed cupcakes, cabbages, and watermelons all being flung directly at her. She twisted her body, spinning around to dodge out of the way of the obstacles before she lit up her horn and a brilliant light surrounded her.

Splat

Discord turned around, seeing a hallway that was now decorated with food, and had a very distinct lack of blue moon princesses.

"Luna?" Discord asked, confusion in his voice as his eyes scanned across the hallway. Maybe she was hit by a watermelon and was sent flying all the way into the throne room? Weirder things had happened.

Before Discord had a chance to investigate further he heard a pop behind him. Making a quick turn around, he witnessed a blue blur tackle him from behind. He was sent forward through the air before swiftly slamming on the ground. As he looked up, he saw that he was now pinned below Luna.

"HUZZAH," Luna shouted looking down at Discord, "We have the High Ground Now."

Discord rolled his eyes, seemingly unimpressed with Luna's surprise attack.

"I would give you a slow clap if I wasn't-"Discord looked around Luna "-pinned to the ground"

"What goes around comes around," Luna said with a confident grin on her face, that would have looked smug, if she wasn't so disheveled from the chase.

"Let me guess," Discord said, looking up at Luna with a smirk, "Teleportation"

Luna smiled brightly at Discord, "Of course, Starswirl taught it too us, and now I may best you"

"You know I can just snap my fingers and teleport far away from here, right?"

"Let us have this".

Discord sighed and rolled his eyes, "Fine".

Discord watched as Luna raised her hoof and began to bring it down on him.

"Tag Y-"

"LUNA"

Luna immediately jumped off of Discord and landed right beside him. With a quick glance upwards she saw Celestia, her hoofs covered in cupcake batter and watermelon bits, her regal hair now contained bits of green cabbage.

"Sister I-"

"My room. Now," Celestia said before she turned around and, taking flight, barely hovered over the food decorated hallways.

Luna gawked at her sister, watching as she hovered away from her. Discord picked himself up and leaned over to Luna.

"Your in trouble~" he said.

Celestia snapped her head around to stare directly at Discord. Her fiery gaze pierced through Discord and directly into his soul. Discord's soul, not being a push-over, stared back.

Discord's soul blinked.

Discord flinched as he looked away from Celestia, and began to look back over to Luna. A tiny amount of fear in his eyes.

"Good Luck," He said before snapping his fingers and teleporting away.

Celestia turned her head back around and began to continue flying through the hallway. Luna took flight and began to follow Celestia, flying right behind her. Luna kept her head held down, a deep frown present on her face.

"I'm doomed," Luna said.

A Long Talk

View Online

Luna had been following Celestia for what felt like an eternity. They had stopped flying quite a while ago, opting instead to walk in silence. The castle was eerily quiet, with only Celestia's and Luna's hoofsteps filling the air. Suddenly Celestia stopped walking, causing Luna to bump into her. Celestia didn't seem to react to the disturbance, since she just continued to stare at the door in front of her.

"We're here," Celestia simply stated.

Celestia swung the door open and pointed inside with her front hoof, her face, while still scowled, seemed to be more relaxed than it was at the beginning of their journey. Luna promptly went inside, avoiding eye contact with her sister as much as possible. Celestia followed Luna into the room. Celestia turned around once in the room, closing the door softly before turning around to Luna. Luna scanned the room, noticing a bed in the center. The bed had sun patterned blankets, and a Bright Fluffy pillow laid right on top. A Trash bin remained right next to the bed. A bookshelf stood on the opposite side of the bed, clean and pristine with each book arranged neatly and orderly. They were clearly in Celestia's room.

"Luna. What in Faust's name was that," Celestia said, rubbing her temples with her hooves.

Luna turned away bashfully. She paused a moment, thinking, before answering, "The mess in the hallway?"

"NO! THE GIANT EXPLOSION FROM THE THRONE ROOM," Celestia shouted as her face snarled up, a glare in her eyes.

"A firework sister,"

"HOW DID YOU GET A FIREWORK INTO THE THRONE ROOM."

"Discord did it, not us."

"HOW ABOUT THE BUFFET THAT IS CURRENTLY DECORATING THE HALLWAY,"

"Also Discord,"

"THE CONSTANT SHOUTING"

"Okay so that was us,"

Celestia walked over to her bed, and threw her body onto it. She shoved her face directly into her pillow. She then proceeded to scream into it.

"AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Luna stared at Celestia as she screamed, and continued screaming... and continued screaming.

"Um, Sister?" Luna asked, walking over to Celestia, and poking her once.

"WHAT," Celestia shouted as she pulled her head out of the pillow and turned to glare at Luna. Luna promptly shut her snout, deciding it would be best if she simply stared at Celestia instead. Celestia slowly moved her head back into her pillow as she began to scream once more.

"I'M GOING TO MURDER DISCORD, NO QUESTIONS JUST DEATH"

"Please, We beseech thee not to kill him,"

"FINE, I'M GOING TO KILL LUNA, MY TRAITOROUS SISTER WHO WOULD DARE PROTECT HIM,"

"Thats just quite rude of thou,"

"NO EVEN BETTER, I'M GOING TO KILL THEM BOTH,"

"Now thou art just being unreasonable."

Celestia pulled her head out from the pillow panting before she looked over to Luna. Luna, to her credit, kept a very solemn frown as she looked at the disheveled mare with food in her body and in her hair.

"Luna," Celestia said with a sigh, "I had to calm down the entire castle staff, they thought we were being attacked Luna."

Luna nodded once, "We're sorry sister."

Celestia looked at her, "You're a princess, and I know its still somewhat new to us, but we have a certain image to maintain."

Luna sighed and rolled her eyes, "Yes, Yes we know. Do remember most of it was Discord."

"I know that, and please," Celestia said still on her bed, "Tell Discord to stop with the whole waking-up-the-entire-castle-with-one-of-my-jokes thing. The staff is bound to quit if this keeps up."

"He is the living embodiment of Chaos,"

"I know that, but if anyone can get him to AT LEAST quiet down," -Celestia pointed at Luna,- "it would be you."

Luna blushed slightly before she sighed, looking up she used her magic to take a piece of cabbage out of Celestia's hair and threw it over to a trash container at the side of Celestia's room. Luna then looked back at Celestia and nodded, "We can try."

Celestia made a small smile, "Thank you. You know you can't encourage his behavior."

"What does thou mean," Luna inquired, her head tilting sideways in confusion.

"Luna, sometimes you just have to not engage in his games," Celestia said with an apologetic look now on her face, "I know you don't have much too do, but escalation is a real fear."

Luna looked away as she held her head down solemnly, "I-"

Celestia grasped Luna's chin and brought it to face her, Luna in turn looked at her sister's face directly. Celestia then softly said, "I'm not saying you can't have fun, but I don't want other ponies talking about you more than they already do."

Luna smiled a bit before nodding, "Of course dear sister, We, I love you."

Celestia smiled, "And I love you too sister, and I must apologize."

Luna raised an eyebrow and turned her head while still looking at Celestia, "Apologize for what, dear sister?"

"Why, Interrupting you of course," Celestia said with a smile.

"Interrupting?" Luna said inquisitively.

"Well you had Discord pinned down," Celestia said with an innocent smile, "I figured you finally worked up the courage to confess to him."

And with that, all Tartarus Broke Lose.

"WHAT?"

"Well I mean forgive me if I made a mistake but,

"WHAT?"

"You just seemed so confident,"

"WHAT?"

"And he was right under you."

"WHAT?"

"Well am I wrong?"

"WE WERE PLAYING TAG!"

"You don't pin people in tag Luna,"

"IT WAS REVENGE FOR WHEN HE PINNED ME,"

"He pinned you? How scandalous"

"CELESTIA I SWEAR,"

"I can't believe my sister was pinned, oh this is so exciting."

"WE SWEAR SISTER, WE WERE ONLY PLAYING TAG"

"Oh I get it you were playing Tag, Wink WInk"

"DID YOU JUST SAY 'WINK WINK'?"

"You know I can't actually wink,"

"CELESTIA, I SWEAR ON MY HONOR NOTHING HAPPENED,"

"But did you want something to happen?"

"T-T-THAT'S IR-IRRELEVANT"

"Oh I think it's quite relevant dear sister."

A beet red Luna, grasped Celestia's pillow, directly from Celestia's arms, and levitated it over to herself. She then shoved her face into the pillow, and began to scream into it.

"WE'RE GOING TO KILL OUR SISTER"

"Who's being rude now," Celestia said before she shook her head and walked over to her bookshelf.

"You can't fool me Luna," Celestia said grabbing a book off of her bookshelf, "I can tell how you feel about Discord. Actually, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure everyone except for Discord can tell,"

"CURSE HIS OVERLY DENSE HEAD"

Celestia plopped herself onto her bed and to began read her book, while Luna screamed into her pillow. Luna then abruptly stopped screaming and pulled the pillow away as she began to pant. After panting for a short while, Luna began to scan the pillow in front of her.

"Celestia," Luna said pointing to the pillow, "Thou pillow is covered in food"

Celestia looked over to the pillow. After looking at it for a short while, she realized that it was, in fact, covered in food. She also realized that the pillow was mostly covered in cabbage. She sighed, dropping her book as she grasped the pillow with her magic, once more bringing it close to her face. Luna, knowing where this was going, began to walk out her sister's room.

"Once again, We apologize sister for our earlier actions. We will be at our tower if you need me."

"AHHHHHHHHH"

And with that, Luna left the room, leaving Celestia to her screaming.

The Tower

View Online

Calming. That perfectly describes Luna's walk back to the throne room. The walk was incredible quiet, since now her sister wasn't scowled and about to chew her out, if you could even call the earlier fiasco being chewed out.

Luna had one noticed one thing on her trek back through the hallway, there was a clear lack of food decorations. In fact, the hallway in general was absolutely immaculate. The servants certainly cleaned the hall quite thoroughly Luna thought to herself as she walked through the hall.

Rather than turn into the throne room, Luna instead made a right turn. This brought her to an alternate path which led
down to an oak door with a single guard posted in front of it.

Luna stopped by the guard and turned to him, "We are not to be interrupted by anyone, especially not our sister, whilst we am here. Is that understood?".

The guard nodded, "Yes Princess."

Luna nodded back, "Thank you." She pushed the door, which opened into a narrow spiral staircase.

Luna began to walk up the staircase, the door promptly closing behind her. The walk was long and boring, with only the occasional window present in the staircase. The hallways themselves seemed quite dull, which betrayed the fact that it was made by Discord. There was no paint, no paintings, and no decorations. In fact the only thing of interest were the windows, but this however, was intentional, as the windows allowed the sky to be visible, which was the whole point of the tower.

Eventually, Luna reached the door at the top of the staircase. She promptly pushed the door, causing it to reveal a minimally decorated room. The room only contained a painting of Celestia, Discord, and Luna as it's sole decor item. The prominent feature of the room was its balcony, which Luna promptly went to.

She stepped out into the balcony, which had a blanket already sprawled out on it. She gently sat down on the left side of the blanket as she looked up, and she began to scan for any oddities. She quickly realized a very peculiar constellation

It was a draconequus with a huge thumb up.

More specifically, it was Discord with a huge thumb up.

"Discord," Luna said as a smile creeped on her face, "Thou may come out now."

The constellation of Discord crossed its arms and blew a raspberry at Luna before it spoke to her, "And why would I want to do that."

"Because thou art nice?" Luna asked with a grin.

The constellation rolled its eyes before it dispersed, and Discord appeared directly behind Luna, "You clearly don't know me very well Lulu."

"We think that we know'st thou plenty," Luna said, as she continued to look at the night sky. She patted the blanket to the right of her with her hoof.

"Would thou care to sit?" Luna asked bashfully.

A flash of light appeared in the corner of Luna's eyes, as Discord teleported to the right of her. Luna glanced over to him, quickly noticing that he was wearing a big fluffy blanket and had an excessively large cup of hot chocolate in his talon.

"I mean, if you insist," Discord said, making sure that he sounded as sarcastic as possible.

Luna rolled her eyes as Discord took a slurp from his hot chocolate. Once he finished his slurp, Luna made a quick subtle glance over to him before she slightly scooted over to get closer to Discord.

Luna looked up at the night sky, "Our sky is truly lovely tonight."

Discord glanced up, "Well of course it is, you made it."

Luna's face flared up, "Wh-Why thank you, Discord."

Discord took a loud and long slurp from his hot chocolate before he responded, "Of course I could spice it up abit..."

"We swear if thou turn the sky into pepper,"

"Okay I won't. Someone's salty," Discord said with a smile.

Luna chuckled and smiled while still looking at the sky, "Thou art truly hilarious."

Scoot

Discord made a goofy grin and took another gulp of his hot chocolate, "So you like spice puns? I'd hope for something more Oregano."

Scoot

"I have a lot of spice puns, but not nearly enough thyme."

Scoot

Discord sighed as he leaned back, and Luna quickly glanced over to Discord. She was close, maybe an inch or two. She could probably lean over and make it to him.

"I mean really, You can parsley believe the amount of spice puns I know," Discord said before he burst out laughing with his own joke. While he was laughing Luna continued to scoot closer to him, until she was almost touching him. Discord calmed down and looked back up at the night sky, seemingly oblivious to Luna's slow approach.

For a little while, it was just Luna and Discord staring at the night sky. Peace and quiet, with just the occasional song from the lovely crickets. For a little while, neither of them talked.

But only a little while.

"There is one thing I loathe about this tower," Discord said with a sigh, "I despise the paint color."

Luna looked over at Discord with a slightly raised eyebrow, "It isn't painted."

Discord turned to face Luna as he wore an exacerbated face, "EXACTLY! I couldn't decide what color this could possible be, I spent days. DAYS, trying to figure out the right color. I hardly spend any time at all deciding the finer details, which I decided would be too distracting in a place like this, and yet somehow, THE COLOR took me days to decide. Ughhh, I considered changing the color but what would I change it to? I know what color I would want, and thats every color is random spots, but what color would YOU enjoy that I could STAND to paint?"

Scoot

"The color truly doesn't matter to us, We are just thankful that thou wouldst take so much time just to make a gift for us," Luna said with a chuckle and a giggle, "It truly is amazing."

"I know It's amazing, I made it," Discord said triumphantly, "I thought to myself, in my thinking tree of course, I ought to do something for Lula. So I thought I'd make something that makes it easier to appreciate your work. So I thought, I should make it a tower with a balcony. So off I went making sure that the balcony had a perfect view of the night sky, the stars in the sky, your head on my shoulder, the beautiful moon, wait your head on my shoulder?" Discord said as he glanced over to Luna, who did in fact, have her head on his shoulder. She immediately shot her head up as soon as Discord looked over, a bright blush on her face.

"Uh we were um... Cold and Tired?"

Discord stared at Luna for a brief moment before he broke out into a smile, "Oh! Well why didn't you just say so!"

"Wait... DISCORD-" Luna shouted out in surprise as Discord opened up the left side of his blanket and dragged Luna into it, pulling her right next to him.

"There, now you can be warm," Discord said with a smile.

Luna was now bright red as she began to stammer and sputter. She looked over at Discord, who was extremely close now, and back at the night sky.

I wanted to be close, but that was a bit to sudden for me Luna thought to herself and she glanced right back to Discord, the close proximity making Luna realize all of the subtle things in his face. His pristine white goatee, his wildly sized eyes, and his mismatched horns. Oh no, he's hot.

"Are you okay," Discord said as he tilted his face, "Your face is completely beet red." To emphasis his point he snapped his fingers, causing a beet to appear next to Luna's face.

"Never mind," Discord said comparing the beet and Luna's face, "Your face is much more red than this beet... or is it redder..."

Luna was now not only flaming red, but she was beginning to sweat under the stress of Discord inquiring about her. "Um... I feel a bit under the weather I suppose," Luna responded trying her best not to move.

Discord snapped his fingers causing a wet rag to appear on Luna's head. He stretched out his arm and put it on her forehead, "You are simply burning up, and you said you feel cold? You might have a fever Lulu. Do I need to take you to your bed?"

And with that, Luna Fainted.

Luna didn't know why she woke up in her bed. She didn't remember walking there, and because of the guard, no one should have carried her there. She didn't know why the blanket around her seemed so familiar, despite the fact that she hadn't seen it before in her life. She just couldn't know, because no one understood.

No one, except Discord.
