The night drew to a close to another successful Hearth's Warming. The lights shining brightly along the streets of Equestria, as ponies gather to celebrate the unification of Equestria. As ponies gathered at the town hall to celebrate this joyous occasion, Derpy looked out of her window, seeing all the joyous ponies below. Exchanging gifts, talking with each other, putting up the decorations. Derpy smiled at the sight. There was so much joy and laughter in the streets below. She hesitated on going into the streets below and chat with other ponies. Much worse was the thought of having to break something everytime on purpose to keep up her 'klutz' image. If she go through any major event without breaking anything, ponies would get suspicious.

'Derpy actually did not break anything at Hearth's Warming? Unthinkable.' 'Derpy actually being able to fly straight without causing accidents. Not happening.' Derpy sighed, and stare out the window. Many ponies think that Derpy is not clumsy by choice, with her crisscrossed eyes, she is able to seek the sympathy of fellow ponies and escape any punishment that would have been implemented if not for her eyes. But that is not the case. What she really was behind that mask is one of the most beautiful creature anyone has seen and so innocent that it could make anyone drool over her.

"Derpy, you are tearing up again." Toothless said from behind. Derpy placed her hoof over her cheek to wipe her tears away and looked at the Night Fury and look at who sat on top him.

"Dinky, what are you doing up there?" Derpy asked.

"Riding Toothless of course. It is so fun, I see how you like it mummy." Dinky replied, sitting on top of Toothless's back. Derpy smiled at Dinky's antics.

"Oh dear, Daagon rider, I have seem to have forgotten my riding ticket, is it okay if you give me a ride?" Derpy asked, pretending to be a lost pony.

"Of course, 'stranger'. Hop on board." Dinky said excitedly. Derpy followed and climbed on top of Toothless's back.

"Welcome on board Toothless express, next station the living room." Toothless said, before using his paws to climb down the stairs into the living room.

"The Toothless express terminates at this station, please alight at this station and we hope top see you again." Toothless said jokingly. Derpy and Dinky 'alighted' and stood on the mat.

"That was fun, want to do it again?" Dinky asked, hopping up and down repeatedly.

Toothless looked at Derpy, waiting for her reply. Derpy sighed and said, "No, we are about to miss the celebration at the town hall and we are not going to miss that, are we?" Dinky froze as she suddenly remembered the celebration at town hall. Dinky than rushed upstairs with great speed and grabbed the presents meant for her friends and rushed back down. Derpy chuckled and took her sling bag, which was meant for mail, and use it to carry Dinky's present to the celebration at town hall.

Suddenly an idea popped into Dinky's mind. Dinky asked innocently, "Can I ride Toothless to the celebration? Or even better use it to scare Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoons at the party later?"

Derpy gave a stern "NO. You know why we can't do that."

"Oh come on, pretty pleeeaaaassseee?" Dinky asked, kneeling in front of Derpy and making sure to put on the biggest puppy eyes to persuade her. To Dinky's surprise, Derpy returned the favour. Derpy used her cute voice and said, "I am sorry, little muffin, but I can not do that. Toothless has to be kept secret or else the bad guys would find him and do something to him. It is for his own safety."

"Buuuttt, that does not mean he cannot go to the celebration with us." Derpy said, and took out what looked to be a Night Fury figurine. "Toothless, hide your wings!" Derpy said, and Toothless was surrounded with bright light. The bright light was transferred to the figurine, and soon came to life.

Derpy placed the figurine on Dinky's horn. "Now wherever you go, he comes with you. Just don't drop it." Dinky looked up at the tiny figurine, which is toothless, on her horn. Dinky hugged Derpy and said, "Thanks mom!"

Derpy smile and asked, "Ready to go to celebration at Town Hall?"

Dinky cheerfully replied, "Of Course, let's go!"

Later that day......
As the celebrations went by, it was getting late and Derpy and DInky made their way home. Once they entered the house and close the doors, Derpy said, "Toothless, spread your wings!" A white light came out of the figurine and landed on the mat. Toothless appeared beside Derpy and Dinky.

Derpy lay down on the mat, which was quickly followed by Toothless and Dinky. All of them laid on the mat, looking at the ceiling. The celebration was a lot of fun. There was some planned clumsiness going on throughout the celebration, like knocking down the Hearth's Warming tree, slipping on the floor, but nothing major. It was also pretty tiring for them as they used their energy to sing the traditional carols and participated in some of the activities like 'pin the tail on the pony', 'guess the carol lyrics' and 'musical chairs'.

Dinky scattered her presents around the living as she was exhausted from the night's festivities. Dinky fell asleep almost immediately. Toothless walked around dinky several times before spreading his wings to cover her as they both fell asleep. Derpy grabbed a blanket and covered them. Derpy dropped her disguise, her body changed into a alicorn with a golden mane, tail, horn and wings against her white body. Using simple levitation, she picked up the presents and place it on the dining table, she would open them tomorrow morning, where she is in a much better state of mind to do so.

She knelt down beside the sleeping creatures gently spread her wings to cover them. Normally, she would not be able to do this. But now that she was a (big) alicorn, her wingspan easily outmatch Toothless and is more than enough to cover the both of them.

"Good night, my little muffin and my little night fury."

Derpy, clad in her battle armor, flew through the skies, flying past the buildings at break neck speed without hitting anything. Holding an crossbow with her hoof, her sword dangling off her armor as if it was a piece of decoration. She scanned the ground for her target, that pony would not get away that easily. Within a few minutes up in the air, she spotted her target: an earth pony of dark blue. As soon as she spotted the pony she shot her with the crossbow, the arrow hitting the pony's hind hoof, causing the pony to drop on the floor. Derpy landed in front of the pony and pulled her sword out.

"Where do you think you are going, little pony?" Derpy asked, her eyes glaring intensely at the pony in front of her. The pony did not respond and simply stomp her hoof on the ground. The pony then took out a sword and pointed it at the tiny dragon she was carrying on its' back.

"You would not want me to kill him, do you?" The pony threatened. Derpy stood there, looking intensely at the pony. She let out a small giggle. The pony took a step back.

"Why are you giggling?" The pony asked in fear. Derpy lit her horn and took out one of the U-shaped horseshoe underneath her hoof. She examined the horseshoe. "Who are you?! There is no such horseshoe in Equestria!"

Derpy gave a wicked smile. The pony took the cue and started to lose her grip on the sword. The pony threw her sword on the ground and broke into a trot, hastily retreating into the city. She ran and she ran and she ran, anything to get away from the guard. As the pony reached within sights of the city, she thought that she had escaped far enough from the devil. Only to run smack into a towering alicorn.

The pony was knocked hard and fell on the ground, the dragon falling off her back during her fall. The pony looked down and saw that she was covered entirely by the alicorn's shadow, the alicorn's shadow could cover her two times easily and blocked the sunlight from her view. The pony tried to look up to meet the alicorn's eye, only to find that she was gripped by the fear of just being so close to the alicorn's presence. She kept her eyes down, unable to muster up the strength to look at this creature's true form.

Derpy gently place her hoof underneath the pony's face and lift it up so that she could meet her eyes. Derpy tilt her head downwards so that the pointy end of her horn would be near the pony's skull. "If you ever hurt my precious Toothless again," Derpy eyes glow with hatred and darkness that would made King Sombra look like a foal's play, "I will not hesitate to plunge this horn down into that plushy body of yours and kill you."

The pony nodded furiously, begging for Derpy to release her. Derpy used her telekinesis and toss the little pony in direction of the city gates. She use her hoof to pick up the little Toothless and place him on her back and flew away.

Derpy woke up suddenly, and stood up and hit the ceiling. "Ouch." She commented. "It was just a dream, Sparky. Just a dream." She said to herself. Derpy looked underneath her wing and noticed that her daughter and Toothless missing.

"Oh you are awake." Toothless commented, walking out of the kitchen with a plate of baked fish. Toothless place his breakfast on the table and sat beside Derpy.

"Heh, you okay?" Toothless asked, concerned that he saw Derpy looking ready to obliterate the surface of the earth and kill anyone on sight.

"No. I am not okay. I had a nightmare last night. I thought some pony kidnapped you and I track her down. I was filled with so much hatred that I almost lost control of my powers and nearly went on a killing spree." Derpy said, tears dripping from her eyes.

"It's okay, we have nightmares now and then. Just don't let it impact you that much." Toothless stated.

"Did I do anything bad when I was in that nightmare?" Derpy asked.

"When I woke up, you pointed you horn directly at Dinky and said some nasty things. You look like you were about to plunge your horn into her. I quickly picked her up and placed her in her bed. Now she shaking in her bed, Derpy. She must have been awake when you said those nasty things at her."

"Oh no, Toothless, what have I done?" Derpy asked, her tears flowing like a river down her cheek, and hurled herself into a ball and lie down on the floor.

"Hey, don't cry, it is not your fault that you have nightmares." Toothless said, trying to console the poor alicorn drowning in her own mistake in front of him.

"It is my fault, Toothless! My own daughter is now terrified of me! What should I do Toothless?" Derpy asked.

"Go up and explain it to her?" Toothless said, also unsure of what to do in such a situation.

"What do I tell her? Oh Dinky, sorry for scaring you I was just having nightmares, that's all. Also, your mom is a freaking alicorn that kill creatures for a living in the past. That is not really going to calm her down is it?" Derpy replied sarcastically.

"Look, I suggest you wait a few days to let her cool down first. She is huddling and shivering under the bed covers right now. It took her a long time to fall asleep." Toothless said.

"I will break it to her when she is ready. In the meantime, could you take care of her while I calm myself down?" Derpy requested. Her eyes staring with the love of a mother to her daughter at Toothless.

Toothless placed his claw over Derpy's shoulders. "Of course I can Derpy. Now, you better figure out a way to break it to her." Derpy nodded.

A week has passed after the incident. Toothless has been taking care of Dinky for the past week. Dinky has slowly open up her mind after the incident. Toothless took a lot of time trying to get rid of that scary figure in her mind and briefly explaining what creature Derpy is. Derpy stay out of Dinky's sight during the whole week.

Toothless asked Dinky if she is ready to face her mother again and she replied, "Not really."

Toothless called Derpy up into Dinky's room to see her reaction. Dinky was a bit hesitant to open her eyes but eventually found the will to do so. Dinky opened her eyes, expecting to see a monster of sorts. But what she sees caused her to staare in disbelief. What was in front of her was the nicest, most beautiful alicorn she has ever seen.

"I am so sorry for scaring you, little muffin. I promise I will not do it again." Derpy said, her head bowing low to show her regret. Dinky rushed over to Derpy and hugged her mother. Derpy returned the hug, and hugged her tightly. Derpy did not realise that she almost choke her daughter until Toothless sheepishly commented, "Maybe start by releasing her so that she could breathe." Toothless sheepishly commented. Derpy swiftly release her grip on Dinky and said, "Oops, sorry about that."

"It's okay, mom, now tell me how did you earn those wings and how did you get so tall and maybe how do you look so cute?" Dinky asked.

"It's okay, mom, now tell me how did you earn those wings and how did you get so tall and maybe how do you look so cute?" Dinky asked.

“Well, about that. It was a really funny process actually.” Derpy said, “Well, it all started when I was a horse back on earth.....

I was just born in this place called the Singapore Zoo. My entire foalhood was spent inside the zoo’s walls. I also grew up under the care of the zoo handlers. I was named Sparky by my zoo handlers. When I was about 2 year old or a ‘filly’, I gave rides to little children that visit the zoo. When I reach adulthood (about 5 years old), I was about 17 hands (68 inches/ 173cm) tall and I started to give rides to both human children and adults. I mostly stayed inside the zoo’s wall and just got used to people riding me.

My life changed when the Singapore army attempted to introduce an equestrian wing, mostly for ceremonial purposes, into its ranks. I was then transferred to an army guarded stables where I met several other horses. That was where I first met your father too. There were about ten horses inside and there was like about five riding instructors inside. The instructors taught us some commands and what is expected reaction. We were also measured in terms of height and weight so that the tailors could make fitting armor that we would wear.

I was like any other horse at the time. That is until a Unicorn came to our stables one night when we were sleeping. I was just trying to close my eyes when I saw this bright light entering our stables. The Unicorn walked up to other horses’ stall and held up a little piece of paper, chanting something. He walked towards another horse and did the same thing. This continued until the Unicorn walked up in front of me. When the Unicorn walked up to me, I did not say anything but stare in awe at this amazing sight.

The Unicorn then turned to look at me and said, “Bad horsey, not sleeping like your fellow horses.”

I frowned at the statement. “I am so sorry but I just couldn’t help but see you. Your magnificent light is making me hard to sleep you know.” I stated.

“Wait, you can see my light?” He asked.

“Yes, of course I can see. It is so bright and so distracting.” I stated.

“Ah, I see. Maybe this will help you.” The Unicorn before lighting up his horn and a scroll of paper appeared in front of me. It looked like a chant of sorts.

“Now, to confirm my suspicions, read the words on the scroll out loud.” The unicorn commanded.

I did as I was told and said, “Twilight Star, Twilight Star, Twinkling high above so far, Shining light, Shining bright, Will you grant my wish tonight? Let my little horse forlorn, Be at last a Unicorn!”

The Unicorn looked at me, smiling with glee.”You are the one I have been for looking for!”

“I don’t get it, nothing has changed.” I said, not realising what he was so hyped for.

“Touch your forehead.” He said. I raised my hoof to my forehead, expecting to feel nothing. Except I did feel something. It was something long and pointy attached to my forehead.

“I have a horn?!” I exclaimed, surprised to finding a horn appearing on my forehead when a few seconds ago it wasn’t there.

The Unicorn laughed sneakily, “Not just that.” He eyed on something on my back.

I slowly turned my head and looked behind me. It was a pair of feathery wings. “I got wings too?!”

And than I notice something weird happening, the Unicorn was shrinking right before my very eyes. The world around me was shrinking too. Wait a minute..... The world isn’t shrinking, I’m Growing! I am growing at a fast rate too. Within a minute, the gate that separated me from the Unicorn was level with my hoof when it was at my chest just moments prior.

Before long, my tail hit the back my stall. The gate when now level with my knee. I quickly jumped out and ran towards the gate before I got any bigger. The gate wasn’t that tall as it was designed to fit at most a double decker bus through. The Unicorn helped me to cut the lock open and opened the gate. I bent down low to avoid hitting the gate’s ceiling and managed to squeeze my way out.

When I was outside, my growth started to slow down and came to a stop. I was already quite tall as a normal horse but this growth spurt brings it to the next level. I was eye level with the stables’ roof and my horn was pretty long. the little Unicorn walked on a path of magic stars up the stables. He sat down on the stables’ rooftop and gave a good look at me.

“I will have to say, not bad for a starting height.”

“What are you talking about? Are you suggesting that I will grow any taller? I demand you change me back NOW!” I said, freaking out about what just happened to me.

“You are an Alicorn. You have no idea how great of an honour that is. Only those that have done a lot of good deeds are able to become Alicorns. They are generally very big and tall. I heard that their size corresponds with the amount of powers they have. You must have a lot of hidden potential if your starting height is about 7 metres (22 feet). Don’t worry about your size, we can change back into our normal horse-like sizes through a spell and vice versa.” The Unicorn explained. “Well, at least that is how it works for the average Unicorn like me. I heard that Alicorns can change their size at will and can shrink or grow as much as their magical stamina allows them to.”

“Are you done with your explanation? Can you please get me down from here? I am kinda scared of heights.” I said, trying my best not to look down.

“Ok, fine.” The unicorn pops another scroll up and enlarge so that I could easily read. “I will say this spell and it would return you to normal size.”

“Okay. Here goes nothing.” The Unicorn took a deep breath and chanted, “Twilight Star, Twilight Star, Twinkling high above so far, Protect this secret from prying eyes, and return the Unicorn to her disguise. Her magical shape is for my eyes only, Let her be once more a pony.”

Just like that, I am back to the normal horsey that everyone knows me as. I look around for the Unicorn but he seemed to have gone away.

All that is left is a piece of paper on the ground.

Dear Sparky,

When you read this, this means that my scout has finally found you and has made the reveal. I had my eyes on you when you were a little filly when you did something nice for the animals and the humans around you. Your spirit of giving has definitely not gone unnoticed here in Aura. (HQ for magical horses) As you grew older, you continued to help those around you, even helping the handler to calm down a horse that went wild. Your actions on earth has led us to believe that you will make a wonderful alicorn in the future. So we decided to grant you the magical abilities and the physique of an alicorn. Hopefully, you could use your new found abilities to help those in need better and render more assistance to them. The alicorn council has decided to make me your mentor. I will be there to help you when you have doubts on how to use your powers or if you have any questions about being an alicorn. An alicorn is expected to learn about her powers while disguised. So over the next few days, you will find yourself learning new powers and abilities while doing some ‘everyday tasks.’

When you need my help, just say my name three times and shake the Unicorn head communicator attached to the back of this letter and I will answer your questions through it. Have a great learning ahead!

Signed, Cleo
