This story involves my OC characters I made. It is inspired by Paper Mario, so there might be some references in there. But, the story is ponies.
Nightfall Glimmer was hanging out with her friends, Icylia Shocker, Melody Breeze, Dawn Light, Pixel Belle, Arcade Mash, and Prism Bolt at the Rainbow Library where Professor Sapphire Pearl worked. They were studying about an ancient spellbook which can create portals to the past, present, futures, and even alternate timelines by the famous unicorn wizard Leon de Pierre from Maredonia. As they were leaving the library, they were all attacked by surprise and Nightfall was kidnapped by the evil princess Somber Moon. But before the others could attack, they were somehow taken to the past. What are they going to have to do? Find out here.
We start off on a lovely day in Prance, where Nightfall Glimmer was hanging out with her best friends.
A serious bat pony mare named Icylia Shocker, a shy earth pony mare named Melody Breeze, an easily unsure pegasus mare named Dawn Light, an energetic unicorn colt named Pixel Belle, an extremely confident earth pony colt named Arcade Belle, and a kind hearted pegasus stallion named Prism Bolt.
They are at a library known as the Rainbow Library reading the latest historic discoveries with Professor Sapphire Pearl. As they were researching they came upon the most interesting of them all.
"Hey Professor? Can you help us what this discovery is about?" Icylia asks as she points to the final section of the book.
Sapphire nods as she reads it in her head once before looking at them. "This section is about the ancient spell book known as 'The Portals of Time' which was written and used by the famous unicorn wizard stallion Leon De Pierre.
It was said the location of the book has been found in the lost ruins of Tenochtitlan." Sapphire explains to her students who now are jaw dropped.
"Wait a second... as in THE Leon De Pierre from Maredonia!?" Nightfall Glimmer asks in excitement. She was a huge fan of Leon or any wizard at that.
Arcade smiles confidently. "We should go look for the book, everypony! It sounds like an adventure worth taking!" He says to the others.
Melody and Dawn, being themselves, becomes worried by the idea. "Oh my.... you think we should do this?" Melody asks. "We could get extremely hurt!" Dawn adds on with an equal amount of concern.
Pixel laughs a little at their attitudes. "Come on, Mel and Dawny! We haven't went on an adventure in quite a while!" He says as Professor Sapphire looks at them all.
"Hm... I think you 7 should take on this task... but before you leave, take this map to your location." She says as she hands them a map.
Prism takes the map then looks at it carefully before putting it up. "Alright! We'll see you when we all get back, Prof!" He says as he walks out with the rest of his friends.
As they exit the library, they realize that the ponies in the town were nowhere in sight. The group saw ponies everywhere when they were walking to the university, but now it's like the citizens have left.
"Wasn't there multiple citizens when we got here?" Nightfall speaks up to her friends.
"You make a point Nightfall... When we got here there was ponies everywhere. But, it's now like the ponies weren't even there when we got here, it's so quiet." Icylia says as they walk.
Suddenly, a loud "Hyaaaaaaah!!!" was heard in the distance as they were suddenly pointed to by three spears. Then more spears point at them as the group back away but all ended up bonking into a building.
"There's no use to hiding now, Mystical Students. Our ruler, Somber Moon will take care of you." One of the ponies said as they were all royal guards.
"We should knock them out first, Larry. Then we can take them away to our queen." The second guard said as they go into battle against Pixel and Icylia.
Pixel Belle starts off his turn as he was the youngest and youngest goes first. He takes out his paintbrush and does his "Splat" attack on the first guard, which had no effect against it.
"H-How is that possible? That should have hurt you!" Pixel said as fear rose into him. The second guard laughs at his fear.
"Oh my, is the baby going to cry? Ha ha! You got to take some strength pills because that was very weak!" The second guard, whose name is Supernova, says as he does his "Aerial Buck" at Pixel, which since he struggled on defending himself, got 8 damage, putting him at 2 health and in danger.
Icylia's eyes widen as she saw the amount of health Pixel took. She decides to do her "Swerve Daze" attack as she swerved around the guards which one of the guards counterattacks the bat pony, making her lose 6 damage and go into danger with 4 health left.
As the guards were about to attack, a dark yet soothing voice interrupts them. "My guards, let me handle these fools." The voice says as the guards step aside.
The pony was a dark gray alicorn with a flowy dark blue and black mane and tail, her horn had a gradient like effect from gray to red to orange on it, her eyes were light teal with a purple mist flowing from it, and a black mark on her flank which on top of it, a white moon broken by purple mist being her cutie mark.
"Empress Somber!" Larry And Supernova said as they bowed.
Icylia and Pixel still remained ready, but when they see their unconscious friends and Nightfall being tied in ropes within the light teal aura of Somber, they stopped being ready out of fear.
The alicorn laughs. "Awww, what a pity. You think I'm going to be easy to defeat? Well, my only words to you now are...Good night!!" She says as she uses a strange yet ancient book to zap the 2 ponies down.
Icylia and Pixel were both struck by the hit as they spun and fell on their stomachs because of their health going to 0. The lightning did 5 damage.
Somber Moon hands Nightfall to her two guards. "Supernova, Larry, take the princess to my tank. These foolish students have no use to this world anymore." She commands as she uses the book one more time and sucks them into it.
As Larry and Supernova listen and go to put Nightfall in the tank, there were hoofsteps in the distance.
"Shoot! I better leave!" She says as she flies off to the tank, but what she doesn't realize is that she dropped the book when she flew off...
But, what's the point of the book being dropped when the 6 Mystical Students were taken down and sucked into the book? Next time, we'll figure it out...
Prologue 2: Even Wizards Need Help/Waking Up From Unconsciousness/The Start of An Adventure
Nightfall Glimmer was currently unconscious in a deep sleep in the castle now ruled by Somber Moon. After she was taken to the tank, the evil alicorn put a syringe in her that caused her to pass out.
As she slept, she hears a voice. A ghost looking unicorn male floats by Nightfall's bed. He had a green coat, pale olive and gray hair and beard, green wizard hat, and a magic wand cutie mark
"Princess Nightfall... can you hear my voice? I'm the famous wizard Leon De Pierre of Maredonia and I'm in need of your and the rest of the Mystical Student 7's help." He says in a wise tone.
Nightfall manages to nod a little within her sleep as she heard him. She tried to open her mouth in her sleep, but couldn't for some odd reason. The wizard sighs in relief from her nod.
"That's good you can hear me. This is the thing that I need help with... is that I'm stuck in the ancient spell book "Portals of Time". The remedy book was dropped somewhere back in Prance when Somber Moon fled with you... I need you to escape this place while you can after you wake up and get the book. After that, I need you to come to the tower of Galaxia in Marelan, Itaily... where I'll explain more..." The wizard explained before having a little static sound.
Nightfall Glimmer nods in understanding in her sleep as she listened to every word. She knows she has an important task in her hooves and as a princess and Mystical Student, she will do anything in her power to help those in need.
"Alright, young princess..." Leon says. "Good luck on your journey.." After those words, he vanishes to thin air...
Icylia Shocker groans as she slowly regains consciousness. She's currently having a major headache from the beating she took by Somber. When she looks around however she was in a very comfy looking house.
Then, a mare pony walks in. "Miss Icy, you are awake at last. You haven't opened your eyes for days." She says as she walks over.
"I am Roseberry Zestline. You crashed into the Werlingston Woods from the sky and my daughter, Lauriara Zestline founded you and took you here." She adds on as she helps the bat pony out of bed.
"Thank you for helping me, Miss Roseberry. I'll head out of here so I can go thank your daughter." Icy says.
"I bet she would really appreciate it if you do just that. She's a big fan of you between all of the Mystical Student 7." Roseberry replied as Icy starts to head out but she stops.
"Before I go Miss.... did you by chance see a wizard dressed unicorn stallion come in here?" She asks as Roseberry gives a completely confused face.
"I never saw anypony at all walk in or out of this house. Maybe you just had a dream! At the same time, who knows?" The parent earth pony says as she walks out.
Icylia follows after her, knowing she has to say thanks to whom will be her new companion soon...
Melody Breeze slowly wakes up from odd poking in her back. She groans as she wakes up and a familiar voice was heard. "Mel, thank goodness you're okay!" The voice sounded an awful lot like Dawn Light.
When she manages to open her eyes, she sees a white roof. "Where am I Dawn?" She asks worried as Dawn sighs.
"We're now in a hospital. We fell and you were crumpled very bad. Don't worry, you're much better now though." The younger pegasus mare explains as they keep looking around.
"Let's get finding our friends." The two say in unison as they walk out of the hospital room. A nurse comes up to them.
"Sign out before you leave." She says as she hands a clipboard to them. Dawn immediately writes hers and Melody's name on the paper, then hands it back to the nurse.
"Done!" She says as the nurse takes back the clipboard. "Thank you." She says as she walks away. The ponies then leave the hospital to embark on their journey to find their friends.
Prism sighs as he walks around the unknown place with Pixel and Arcade. They had woken up around an hour ago from their unconsciousness in an odd forest and were looking for a way out for the starting hour.
"Ugh!! Where are we!? And where is the way out!?" Arcade says agitated as they walk around. Just as they were looking around, there was an odd echo-y voice in the distance.
"You must go to your left and after you turn, go straight... As you go straight, you will be led out of the Woods of Haunted Tails and into the Diamond Grassy Hilltops, where we will meet." The female sounding voice says.
"Wait what!? Haunted Tails!?" Pixel says feared as he immediately panics. They do as they are told and turn to the left before sprinting as if their lives depend on it.
They kept running for 2 minutes before making it out to a grassy area with multiple hills in the distance. They look around the area after they slowed down.
"This is Diamond Grassy Hilltops, I suppose. Where are you, odd ghost female voice?" Prism speaks up as they look around.
"You did very well on listening, young colts and stallion." She says as she reveals herself to them. She was a gray pegasus with long yet spiky hair with its colors being two shades of grey and dark magenta.
She has lavender eyes, scars on her flank, eye, neck, and cheeks, and a metal wing. "I am Echo Dash, it's nice to meet you there Mystical Students. You must be Prism Bolt, Pixel Belle, and Arcade Mash." She says calmly.
Prism nods as Pixel and Arcade's jaws drop. "That is us. We are looking for our friends, who are the other Mystical Students. Can you help us?" Prism asks.
"I would help you, but I am afraid I don't know where you are. All I can do right now is wish you luck. Farewell." Echo says as she uses invisibility to disappear and fly off into the deep creepy forest again.
"Well, looks like we must find our friends!" Arcade says as they walk away to start their adventure.
