Twilight Sparkle the child of Princess Luna and her husband Night Shadow born 1008 years ago, she had a happy life with her Mother, Father and Aunt, but after 5 years this happiness started to end, her mother and aunt began to fight more and more and rumours began to spread about Luna and her daughter
It was beginning to be night time. A dark blue alicorn had her horn lit. Her name was Luna, Princess Luna. She was performing her royal duty of raising the moon and bringing out the stars. “Tonight is beautiful don’t you think Night”, she asked her husband.
Night Shadow chuckled, “Getting egotistical are we?” His wife shot him a look that screamed ‘oh shut up’. He rolled his eyes and walked over to her saying, “Yes it is. Any occasion? Cause you went all out.”
Luna giggled and shook her head “No, I’m just good sense.” She said before looking down toward her bulging belly with a smile “Our baby will be here soon.”
Hearing that a smile began to appear on the stallion’s face as well, with the reality of him being a father soon set in, “You know it’s almost time and we still have no ideas for names.”
Luna turned towards her work, “We’ll think of something. But right now I have to perform my other duty.” She said stepping forward a bit
Night nodded “Ok, Night.”
“Good Night.” The two shard a kiss before she lit her horn, a light surrounded and she disappeared
After the light around her disappeared, she found herself in a familiar space, ‘the dreamscape’ looking around she saw bubbles that represented the dreams of the ponies of Equestria near and far, after seeing one in particular, a foal‘s dream, seeing the little pony running around with a mare the alicorn assumed was its mother and it made her think, “I can’t wait for that to be our beautiful child.” The alicorn looked around “Now to search for anypony needs help.” She thought
Later
Luna returned from her duty watching over the dreams “Well that’s all for tonight, I still have a few hours before Tia rises the sun.” She made her way to bed and had a peaceful if short sleep
She awoke and stretched while letting out a slight sigh
“LuLu, don’t you think you should sleep a little bit longer?” Night asked his wife
“Morning to you too.” She replied snarkily
The stallion rolled his eyes at the comment “You only got few hours of sleep.”
“Four hours about how much I usually get nothing out of the ordinary. plus I’m hungry.” She said before leaving the room
Night shook his head and sighed following his wife
The couple made their way to the dining hall, “Good morning you two.” Celestia greeted
“Morning, Tia.” Luna waved returning her sister’s greeting
“Morning Celestia.” Night said
The three sat down at the servants brought them their breakfast, “So Luna the foal is due any day now right.”
The smaller alicorn nodded while chewing a piece of fruit
Celestia closed her eyes in thought, “I do wonder what my niece or nephew will be like.”
Luna also wondered this but as she was thinking something felt off the cushion of her felt wet once she realized it she started to panic
“Well no matter what he or she is like we’ll all love them! right?” Night declared looking back and forth to the two alicorns
With a smile as bright as her sun, Celestia nodded. Luna still looking down snapped her head up, “Rig-AHHHHH!” Luna screamed at a sudden pain
Celestia and Night Shadow whipped their heads towards her, “Luna what’s wrong!” They both yelled in panic
“Th-th-ARG” was all she could manage
“Luna honey what is it!” Night ran over to his wife. He put on her belly and another behind her head, after a second he felt something hit his hoof on his wife’s belly, then it hit him like a brick the baby was kicking, “Doctor!” He shouted suddenly
“Wh-what,” Celestia said confused not understanding
“The baby is coming get a Doctor now!” Night ordered
Celestia although still in shock, nodded and ran faster than she ever thought she could telling a few guards to help Night get Luna back to their room
As his wife lay there the stallion rubbed her hoof with his own, “It’s ok you’re going to be ok.” He murmured soothingly
“OK, OK!? YOU’RE NOT THE ONE FEELING LIKE YOU’RE BEING TORN APART FROM THE INSIDE OUT!” Luna ranted
“Mood swings and the Royal Canterlot Voice, not a good combination Night thought
A second later Celestia nearly burst into the room with a light brown stallion, “Ok I got the doctor how is she?!” She asked frantically
“I’M ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH WHAT IN TARTARUS DO YOU THINK!?” The younger sister shouted still in the Royal Canterlot Voice
The doctor approached two ponies by the bed, “Ok, your highness we need you to stay calm.” The doctor said in a professional manner
Luna was about to react when she felt a hoof on her left turning she realized her older sister was right beside her, “Don’t worry Luna, Night and I will be right here through the whole delivery.” Celestia said in a tone more akin to a mother than sister
Having both by her side had calmed her down the slightest bit but her contractions kept causing her to slip into the Royal Canterlot Voice
“Come on Luna push.” Night said
“Arrrrg!” Luna grunted
After an hour and a half of Night and Celestia telling Luna to push over and over along with Luna saying “NIGHT SHADOW I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!” As well as her almost breaking Night and Celestia’s hooves from squeezing them too hard
“Come on!” Night and Celestia said in unison
“Ahhhh-“ Luna nearly screamed before hearing a high pitch and loud cry
“Congratulations your highness it’s a filly!” The doctor said
“Ah l-let me see her!” Luna requested
The doctor gave the new mother her foal which had now stopped crying. What caught her eye was the foals purple coat and tiny horn, “A unicorn. S-she’s beautiful don’t you think Night, Tia?”
The Pegasus and alicorn looked at each other, “Has she noticed yet?” Night whispered
“I don’t think she has,” Celestia answered, also whispering
Despite their whispers, Luna was able to hear them, “’Has she noticed yet?’ Noticed what?.” She thought looking down at her daughter “is it something about you?” after that her thought process was cut off by her hoof feeling something she hadn’t noticed particularly on both sides of her foal’s waist it was a feeling she was very familiar with it was feathers
The purple foal let out a small yawn and opened her eyes looking up, “Hello there my little one welcome to the world.” Luna whispered
Celestia tapped Luna on the shoulder, “Luna I know you’re happy, we all are, but there’s something you sh-“
Luna interrupted her elder sister saying, “ I know she’s an alicorn.”
“Have either of heard of a baby alicorn before?” Night questioned
Both alicorn sisters shook their heads
Night looked at his daughter and smiled as she glanced around,”Well I think that just makes her even more special!”
The sisters looked at each other and nodded saying, “Agreed!”
The three ponies just stared down at the newest addition to their family before Celestia realized something “So hate to break up the happy moment but what are we going to call the dear, LuLu?”
Night’s eyes widened but before he could panic Luna said, “Don’t worry I thought of two possible names last night while performing my duty of watching over dreams, one if the foal was a colt and one if it was a filly.”
“What was your idea for a colt?” Celestia asked curiously
“Dusk Shine,” Luna answered simply
Her husband and sister nodded “And for a filly?” Night asked
Luna smiled as she turned her head from her husband to daughter, “Twilight Sparkle.”
The foal smiled and giggled
“Ha Ha, I think she likes it.” Celestia smiled
All Luna could do was smile at that moment it was settled the foal would be named Twilight Sparkle. Being the daughter of one the Royal Pony Sisters news of Princess Twilight Sparkle’s birth spread all across Equestria, whether they were an Earth Pony, a Pegasus, or Unicorn everypony had one thing in common they all loved their newest Princess.
The small purple alicorn let out a small giggle as she flew around the castle using her horn to levitate her three dolls along with anything she could get a hold of guard helmets, plates, plants. Two guards and a servant were trying to get Twilight to put everything down.
“Princess you need to calm down. It’s almost time for your nap!”, one of the guards called
Still running, the servant, a maid specifically, said “She’s a four-month-old foal. She isn’t going to react unless you call her Twi-“
Another guard cut her off “W-we can’t just call a Princess by her first name, foal or not!”
“Argh, guards always got to stick to your precious protocol even when it becomes counterproductive.” the maid said, irritated.
“And you’re too chummy with ponies that you're supposed to be serving!” The guard that cut her off tried to counter.
“Well sorry for me wanting to know my superiors! Besides I’m only ‘chummy’ with the princesses as you put it because Night Shadow and I have known each other since we were kids!”, the maid countered.
“How long is this going to take!”, one of the guards nearly shouted
“I never asked you two for help!”, the maid said.
“But she has our helmets!”, both guards exclaimed
“What’s going on here?”, a male voice called out making the three freeze and turn around to see a familiar face to all of them.
“Lunar Captain Night Shadow! We’re sorry for leaving our post sir but your daughter grabbed our helmets when she flew by!”, the guards said looking at each other then their superior officer.
Night chuckled and sighed as he shook his head, “Yeah she loves doing that. And Ivory, let me guess you’re having a hard time getting Twilight down for her nap?”, he asked turning to his old friend ‘Ivory Polish’
Ivory sighed her ears drooping, “Yes, how do you and Princess Luna ever get her to calm down?”
“We really just do what you normally do with foals, you know cuddling, singing.”, Night answered looking up, realizing his daughter was no longer there. “Well I better go and look for her.”
The three ponies in front of the stallion turned around seeing the little princess was indeed gone, “Oh sh-“ they almost swore.
“That won’t be necessary.” Celestia’s voice called, “She’s right here.” The alicorn said softly moving the forehoof her sleeping niece was in.
After that was done Night took his foal back to his and Luna’s room to put her down for her nap.
The Next Day
Twilight’s eyes fluttered as she slowly opened them. After her eyes were fully open, she let out a squeaky yawn and looked up seeing a mare with a deep dark blue coat. Despite not being able to talk one word entered her mind 'mommy!' Twilight smiled opening her tiny wings to try and fly but before she could take off, Luna took the foal in her forehooves.
"Haha, oh no, you don't, now its time to clean you up. You, Auntie Tia and I are going to Cloudsdale for the Spring Sunrise later. I do wonder what the foals have made to present to us for the centennial symbol. I don’t know why I’m rambling. You don’t even understand do you?” The foal just stared and blinked at her mother making Luna giggle.
After bathing Twilight, Luna prepared herself for the event. After putting her regalia on she turned around and walked over to her daughter and picking her up with a forehoof “There has to be an easier way to get her around!”
Luna walked out of her room. She saw Celestia down the hall talking to a stallion with the same white coat as her but had an orange mane. Luna knew the stallion. He was captain of her sister’s guard or the ‘Solar Guard’. His name was Crimson Flash. Unlike her and Night, Celestia and Crimson weren’t all that close. Thier relationship was more, superior and subordinate than anything.
“Hey Tia!” Luna said as she approached the two.
“Oh, Luna so are you ready?” Celestia asked.
“Yes but I have a problem carrying Twilight around whenever we take her events like this.” Luna responded.
Celestia rubbed her chin thinking of an answer for her little sister’s problem, “Well we can ask for something when we get to Cloudsdale and find a more permanent solution after we get back.”
Luna nodded understanding that they didn’t have much time to discuss ideas they had to be in Cloudsdale in two hours not to mention they had to leave immediately so they could get there on time otherwise the Pegasi might think that ‘the princesses aren’t coming they think we’re not worthy of their presence!’ Which was not true both her and Celestia loved all their subjects.
The sisters were led a chariot pulled by two Pegasi after a few minutes they took off. An hour later the two could see what looked like a large cloud both of them knew it was Cloudsdale the distance as they got closer the two could see more and more detail of the cloud city.
“There it is!” Luna said.
The two arrived and were greeted by the Earl and Countess of the city who were escorted by four guards. while the Earl and her sister were talking Luna turned the Countess and asked if they had anything she could use as a make shift carrier for Twilight. The best thing they had on short notice was a basket with a cloud and sheets, Luna thought disappointed accepted the offer. The Countess turned to a guard asking for him to prepare one for the princess the guard complied bowing.
Later
Celestia and Luna levitating the basket Twilight was lying in. Made their way to where the ceremony would be held after some minutes they had reached their destination the two walked up to a large group of ponies the Pegasi all cheered before bowing for them. The crowed made an opening for the royals to walk through once they were on the stage Celestia and Luna both took notice of the foals with their projects.
It was amazing what these foals had made for this event. After half an hour of the foals presenting what they had worked on to help make the seasons shine. Celestia began her speech, “Thank you all very much for coming and to all the fillies and colts for bringing all these wonderful ideas for the seasons now as you know we can only choose one for the centennial symbol but you-.”
“Wait!” A filly’s voice called out
There was a bit of commotion in the crowd the alicorns could just barely see two ponies a mare and filly making their way to the front of the crowd when they were at the front gave the filly a small hug
“She’s here?” A green filly asked
“She didn’t show up to class yesterday.” A white colt said
“I thought Mrs. Windith excused her.” A brown filly exclaimed
“Snowdrop?” The teacher ‘Mrs. Windith’ asked
“Please excuse our interruption your Highnesses but it’s just-“ the mare started
“I’ve been working so hard please I have a gift for the seasons to and-“ Snowdrop tried before being interrupted by a pink filly
“Doubt that.”
“May we see it?” Celestia asked.
Before Snowdrop stepped forward her mother gave her quick hug with a wing to reassure her Snowdrop walked up to Celestia holding her hoof her gift was in it look like snow.
“You brought snow?” a light grey colt asked surprised
“And just one little dot of it!” The pink filly from earlier said
“Maybe she grabbed the wrong thing on her way here?” the white colt beside Snowdrop asked
“Why would you bring snow to the spring sunrise?” a filly asked
“It’s not snow I made a star!” Snowdrop exclaimed
The light grey colt laughed before saying mockingly “A star? You can’t make stars it doesn’t even look like one!”
Snowdrop said “Maybe it doesn't look like one, but it's still a star! A star for winter! I can't see what the stars look like up in the night sky. Just like I can't see what spring or the other seasons look like. But I can hear it all, and I heard the snow twinkling just like the stars do every night! So they should be able to grant wishes too, shouldn't they? Winter's been giving us a gift all this time, and we've just been ignoring it! Celebrating spring is good. But winter can't be all bad if it gives us these. It may be cold and dark, but that doesn't mean there isn't any good to it.” Luna’s eyes widened slightly as she looked up “Maybe... Maybe winter is sad that everypony doesn't like it. So maybe we need to make wishes on the winter snow just like how we wish on the night stars. Maybe then we can have a happy winter instead. We already have a happy spring and summer and fall. Can't we have winter happy too? Because winter... It's important. Even if it seems useless, it can give us wonderful things, so-“ the filly stopped
Luna realizing the filly had stopped asking, “May we see your wishing snow?”
Snowdrop stretched out her hoof again and Luna took the snow with her magic levitating it between Celestia and herself both they smiled Celestia turned to the filly “Could you make us some more?” She asked Snowdrop
The blind filly gasped with delight and nodded “Mm-hmm!”
Luna smiled with tears in her eyes as she stared at the snow. in the corner of her eye, she could also see Snowdrop’s mother crying obviously proud of her daughter.
The sisters offered Snowdrop to come up on stage the filly with a bit of help climbed on to the stage and stood next to Luna and Twilight’s basket and Celestia said what everypony already knew the centennial symbol would be Snowdrop’s ‘wishing snow’.
10 minutes later
Most ponies had left by now only Snowdrop her, mother ‘Primrose’, Luna, Celestia and of course Twilight who was sleeping now. Luna turned to Primrose and asked something that had been on her mind since Snowdrop had shown them her snow. “Primrose was it? From your daughter said in her little speech I take it she has always been blind.”
“Yes she has I don’t why but she was born blind,” Primrose confirmed
Luna nodded in understanding, “It must be hard to raise a blind foal.”
“At times but it’s worth it for my little filly to be happy.” Primrose replied, “What about you how is raising Princess Twilight it's probably easy for you having so many servants helping out.” Primrose said, “D-did I just talk to one of the ROYAL PONY SISTERS like I would one of my friends?!” The Pegasus thought
“Well, actually my husband and I are trying to raise her ourselves only having servants put her down for a nap now and then. And it isn’t always easy in fact just yesterday she was flying around the whole castle grabbing anything she could get hold of luckily Tia got her before she could get anything too dangerous.” Luna explained
Primrose nodded in understanding and the two mothers started sharing stories of their daughters
Snowdrop walked up to the two adults guided by their voices, “Mother, Princess Luna?”
The two turned to the filly, Primrose put a hoof on her daughter’s cheek, “I’m so proud of you Snowdrop.” She said warmly
“You should also be proud of yourself you discovered the blessings winter has been giving us along. The next snowfall will most definitely be celebrated.” Luna explained
“Th-thank you, Princess.” Snowdrop said
“Please just Luna.” The alicorn commented
“Just Luna?” The filly asked.
“Yes.” Luna responded
“Ok Prin- I mean Luna.” Snowdrop corrected herself
The filly and mare began to talk about nothing specifically but the started to feel more and more comfortable with each other.
Celestia let out a soft chuckle “I have a feeling those two will be very close friends.”
“I agree,” Primrose stated
Eventually Primrose and Celestia decided to join the conversation after a bit it was just the adults talking while they were discussing something Snowdrop with her shaper hearing heard a small noise
“Ehh!”
“Huh?” Snowdrop shot her head up she heard the sound again and she realized it was a foal “Princess Twilight? She sounds upset. I need to tell Luna. “ The filly thought, “Um, L-Luna?” Snowdrop tried none of the adults listened so she tried again “Uh, Princess Celestia, Luna, mother?” They didn’t react again. “Maybe I can do something?” The filly wondered
Snowdrop using her heightened hearing to guide her she knew Princess Twilight’s basket was just a bit away so she could get some sleep but close enough for Luna to be able to check on her easily. The filly felt around for the basket after she found the basket from her hoof softly bumping it despite not being able to see, Snowdrop was able to hear the sounds of Twilight moving around on the cloud she was lying on. Snowdrop could tell the poor foal was upset so she tried to calm her down “H-hi I-I know you don’t know me but you don’t have to be afraid.” The filly said before putting a hoof on the basket and softly rocked the basket back and forth.
After few short minutes, the restless foal had calmed down. Luna looked over at the basket to check on her daughter but saw Snowdrop sitting next to the basket, “Snowdrop why are you over here?” Luna approached, “Is something wrong?” She asked.
“Not anymore. While you, Princess Celestia and my mother were talking I heard Princess Twilight she sounded upset so I tried to get your attention but no one heard me. So I thought I’d try to calm her down.” The pegasus explained.
The alicorn stared slowly turning her to her foal who was awake now with a little smile on her face it made the mother also smile she turned back to Snowdrop, “Well thank you for that.” Luna said before turning back to her daughter and picking her up. After being picked up the foal clung to her mother smiling.
“You’re welcome I hope she’s ok now.” Snowdrop said
“Don’t worry she is,” Luna stated.
Twilight turned her head away from her mother seeing a filly in front of her, “If you want to know Twilight’s staring at you.” Luna informed
“She is?” Snowdrop asked
“Yes, she definitely is I see her looking down a bit. Why don’t you say something to her?” Luna said
“O-ok. Umm Hi Princess Twilight are you feeling any better?” Was all Snowdrop could think of
The foal’s ears twitched a bit though not fully understanding what the filly was saying recognized her voice as the voice of the pony that had rocked her basket just minutes ago the foal smiled she extended her hooves like she was trying to reach for the filly. Luna smiled at her daughter’s excitement, “I think she wants you to hold her.” Luna chuckled, “Do you want to try it?”
“W-we’ll I kind of.” The filly admitted, “I just don’t want to drop her if I do.” She said
“Oh, don’t worry about that we aren’t around anything particularly hard so she should be ok if you do. And I can help you if you’re nervous about holding her.” Luna explained
“Ok.” Snowdrop replied
Luna gave her daughter to Snowdrop helping the filly move her hooves around to the proper positions for holding a foal. One hoof around Twilight’s flank and one behind her head. Twilight giggled and moved closer to the smiling, hearing the foal’s laugh brought a smile to Snowdrop’s face as well.
As the adults watched the two younger ponies all smiled, “It looks like my daughter has taken quite a liking to your own.” Luna turned to Primrose
“Yes, it does. Your Highness.” The pegasus replied
Luna rolled her eyes, “I keep telling you that you can just call me Luna. The Spring Sunrise is over My Sister and I don’t have any more official business here so you don’t need to be so formal with us.”
“I-I b-but y-you’re.” Primrose stuttered before regaining herself, “Ok, I’ll try to do that.”
“Thank you.” The alicorn said
Luna turned back to the two younger ponies Twilight was sitting on the ground now, while Snowdrop was trying to shape some cloud into different shapes Twilight laughed at the shapes. Luna knew Twilight and Snowdrop would become very close over the years.
Later
It was time for the princesses to return to the castle. Snowdrop asked her mother if they could see their new friends off, she said, of course, they could.
“So we’ll see you again after that?” Snowdrop asked
Luna smiled at the filly’s question, “Of course we will and you and your mother are welcome at the castle anytime my friend.”
The pegasus guards took off and looking back the princesses could see Primrose and Snowdrop waving too them.
The alicorns eventually were back to their castle being welcomed back by several castle workers. Night Shadow was one of them once she was him Luna rushed and gave him a hug which the stallion returned.
After embracing, Luna gave Twilight to her father. Which made them both happy.
With what she said to Snowdrop before they left Luna wondered if she and her mother would ever visit. The moon princess knew her husband would like Snowdrop and It would make Twilight happy since the foal had fun playing with the blind filly. With all those thoughts in her mind, Luna looked forward to when she would see her new friend again.
It was a bright autumn day, Luna and her husband were asleep, however, one little filly was eager to get them up, “Mommy, Daddy wake up!” Twilight said shaking her parents.
“Uhhg, Ok sweetie we’re up,” Luna said rubbing her eyes.
“Get your usual four hours of sleep, Luna?” Night asked he never quite liked that his wife got so little sleep.
“Yeah, maybe four and a half,” Luna replied.
“So want do you need Twily?” Night asked his daughter.
“It’s morning, breakfast time!” The little filly chirped.
“Well then let’s go!” Luna gave the young alicorn a small kiss.
Luna climbed off of the bed and made her way out of the room Night was taking a bit more time, “Come on Daddy!” Twilight said.
“Ok, ok!” Night chuckled.
The stallion followed his wife. Twilight was shortly behind him. After leaving the room the filly rushed over to her own room, which was next to her parents’ room and rushed over to her bed gave one of her four dolls a hug, the one that looked like her best friend and ‘Big Sister’ Snowdrop. Since before she could remember she had a doll version of each of the four ponies she loved the most; one of her mother she called it Woona, one of her father which she called Nigh-Nigh, her aunt she called that one Tia which she called her aunt anyway and the one she was currently holding she called Snow-Snow.
Through the open door, Luna and Night saw everything their daughter did.
“Why do you always do that honey?” Twilight’s father asked her as she came out of her room.
“Because Snowy isn’t here to hug,” Twilight said innocently.
Luna and Night looked at each other and chuckled, Twilight and Snowdrop had always seen each other as sisters.
The mother, father and daughter made their way out of their room and down the hall. Once they were in the dining hall. They saw Celestia was already there, “Morning everypony.”
“Auntie Tia!” Twilight rushed over giving her aunt a big hug, “Good morning!”
The white alicorn returned the hug, “All of you sleep well?”
“I did!” Luna said.
“Me too.” Night added
“And you Twilight?” Celestia said, putting her niece on the floor.
“Yep, I did.” Twilight smiled. The filly’s happy demeanour brought a smile to everypony’s face. The family sat down to eat, Twilight sat between her parents.
After the servants brought the four royals their breakfast, Celestia turned to her sister, “So what are you doing today Luna? Talking Twilight anywhere?”
Luna nodded, “Yes, I think I might I’ll take her to Canterlot, then Cloudsdale.”
Twilight smiled at the second place her mother mentioned, “Can we see Snowy?”
Luna smiled, “Of course I’m sure that she would love to get a visit from her ‘Little Sister’.”
“Yay!” Twilight cheered making the three adults chuckle.
“But eat the rest of your breakfast first.” Night told the filly.
“Ok!” Twilight exclaimed giving a huge smile before continuing eating.
The family finished their breakfast after which the servants took the plates and silverware to be cleaned.
Twilight walking excitedly between her parents asked, “Are you coming too, Daddy?”
“I am.” Night nodded “We haven’t done anything as a family in a while.”
After a short time of walking with Luna and Night, talking as their daughter skipped through the hall in between them, the family stepped on the chariot pulled by two pegasi. After taking off Twilight waved, “Bye Castle!” she chirped.
The older ponies chuckled, “Oh Twilight, you’re the cutest little filly” Luna said pulling her daughter into a hug.
Night smiled at his wife and daughter seeing Luna playing with their daughter and in turn Twilight laughing. That alone showed him how lucky he was to have such a beautiful daughter and wife. He put a wing over the two.
The flight went smoothly and they soon landed in their first stop. The city known as Canterlot. After landing the family thanked the two pegasi that pulled the chariot. The two of them bowed to the royals as their reply.
As they walked through the city, the family was bowed to and greeted by all ponies they passed. Twilight tried talking to other fillies but whenever she did the foal’s parents told them to ‘show the princess respect’ after which the foals gave her a bow. There were times when she could get to talk before her own mother said they were moving on.
The family started to look through a shop that had caught Twilight’s eye. They sold several items candles, candelabras, chairs but nothing really stuck out to the three.
The family decided to stop in the bakery before moving on to Cloudsdale. The shop was run by a stallion named Pastry Joe.
After family entered everypony rose from their seats to bow as the three walked away to the counter.
“Your Highnesses, for what do I owe the honour for your presence today?” Joe asked bowing his head.
“We are simply passing through the city.” Luna replied, “And simply wish to sample the food of your establishment.”
“Why thank you, your highness, please feel free to get whatever you wish,” Joe said.
Twilight smiled pointing to a pastry behind the stallion, “Can I have that one, Mommy?”
Luna smiled at her daughter, “Of course you can Twilight.” The princess turned to the shop stallion, “My husband and I request one as well if you please.”
“Of course, right away, Your Highness!” Joe bowed.
After the stallion grabbed the three pastries in his magic he levitated them to the three royal customers.
“Thank you!” Twilight exclaimed taking a bite out of her pastry crumbs sticking to her lips.
Joe shook his head, “No, No, No you don’t have to thank me Princess Twilight I’m just a baker.” he said slightly nervous.
The family tried to pay but Joe saying he “Wouldn’t make royalty pay for something as insignificant as a few pastries.”
After leaving the bakery with the other customers bowing to them as they passed by the family started to walk back to the royal chariot once they found the chariot the two pegasi guards greeted them as the three stepped on to the chariot Luna said to the guards pulling them, “Our next stop is Cloudsdale.”
“Yes, Your Highness!” Both the driving pegasi said in unison.
“Yay!” Twilight chirped.
Night and Luna looked down at their daughter giving each other a smile and kiss.
Awhile later the cloud city was just coming into view Twilight hearing they were almost there couldn’t sit still anymore, “Yay!”
Luna draping a wing over her daughter said, “Yes we are now come down my little star.”
Twilight obeyed her mother, “Okay mommy.”
After some minutes the pegasi guards landed the chariot on to the clouds that comprised the floating city.
The family one by one stepped off their ride and on to the soft clouds and stared their way to the actual city to see their friends and practical family; Snowdrop and her mother Primrose.
A repeat of what happened in the previous city occurred ponies bowing to the royals as they passed.
Soon two ponies both pegasi flew over to them one was a light yellow mare and a light blue one with a curly white mane who was more an older filly than a full-grown mare.
“Snowy!” Twilight smiled rushing over to the older filly.
Hearing the sound of the filly’s footsteps Snowdrop braced for the imminent hug she knew was coming, “Hello Twilight.” The pegasus replied as the younger filly embrace her.
Night stepped forward stretching out his hoof to the pink mare, “It’s nice to see again Primrose.”
“It’s nice to see you three as well. Is Celestia not here this time?” Primrose asked in some ways she still wasn’t entirely used to calling royalty by their name and not their title. But it had gotten easier over the last three years.
“No. We wanted to take today for the three of us.” Luna explained.
Primrose nodded glancing at her daughter who now had the young Princess Twilight sitting on her back, “Are you really ok with this Snowy?”
Snowdrop smiled, “Yes I’m ok.”
Twilight replied by rubbing the older filly’s cheek against her own, “Your the best!”
The two mothers chuckled at their daughters bonding with each other, “You two are so precious!” Primrose told the two fillies.
With a sweet smile, Luna agreed, “Just behave Twilight you don’t want to hurt her.”
“Don’t worry mommy I will!” Twilight promised.
The five ponies walked through the streets of the cloud city. Twilight glanced around the buildings waving at a few ponies who really only waved back being nervous about wanting to please the royal family.
“Why is nopony smiling?” Twilight asked.
Primrose smiled, “Not everypony is as comfortable being around you as Snowdrop and I.”
Twilight tilting her head asked, “Why? You love us. Don’t they?”
“Of course they do. But it’s different me and Snowdrop love you like family not just royalty.” Primrose told the youngest pony rubbing her cheek.
“We love you too. Right Mommy, Right Daddy?” Twilight turned to her parents.
Luna chuckled, “Of course.”
Night nodded at his daughter’s statement, “They are as close to family as they can be.”
Twilight smiled giving Primrose a hug before turning to Snowdrop slipping back onto her back, “You’re back.”
Twilight looked at the older filly in amazement, “How do you know I was gone?”
“I could feel your weight lift off my back and heard you give mother a hug.” Snowdrop replied.
Twilight smiled, “You’re amazing!”
The adults all chuckled at the youngest’s comment.
After giving Twilight a nuzzle Luna heard a voice speak, “Princess Luna! Lunar Captain Night Shadow!”
The alicorn and pegasus turned in response to their names they saw two armoured pegasi, “Yes.” Luna spoke up first.
“Your Highness! The Earl and Countess of Cloudsdale have requested your presence. Princess Celestia and her captain Crimson Flash have been requested as well.”
Luna sighed, “I guess our visit is ending much too soon.”
Twilight just looked sad at the thought of having to say goodbye to the two pegasi, “Bye Snowy. Bye Primy.” Twilight got the older filly’s back using her wings to slow her decent on to her on to the clouds they were walking on.
Snowdrop spoke up, “W-we could take care of her.”
Luna turned to her friend, “I can’t be certain it’s quite a good idea.”
“Luna remember we can trust these two they’ve known Twilight since she was only a young 3 months old.” Night reminded the alicorn.
Luna paused she did trust these two as if they were family but this would be the first time her daughter was going to be away from her blood family even when she was away from her and her father she was always with her aunt, “But Twilight’s never been away from her family this would be the first time Tia wasn’t watching her. While we aren’t.”
Night continued to reassure the alicorn, “It will be alright LuLu.”
Luna thought for a moment and decided, “Twilight what do wish?”
Twilight turned to her parents then the two pegasi a few times.
Night smiled, “You’ll have more time with Snowdrop.”
Twilight responded to her father with a smile.
Night turned to his wife, “I believe that answers what she wants.”
Luna now out of time made the decision to have the two pegasi watch her daughter. They were more than happy to accept. To prevent any confusion Luna gave Primrose a written statement saying she was to be with Twilight until returning to her parents.
Twilight smiled, “Yay!”
Luna quickly hugged and kissed her daughter, “Goodbye Twilight I promise this won’t take long. Just behave.”
“Ok, mommy! Bye!” Twilight exclaimed waving to her parents as they left. The older ponies returned their daughter’s wave and smile.
After the two had left Twilight turned back to the two pegasi were now taking care of her.
Snowdrop smiled as she felt Twilight climb back on to her back.
Primrose turned, “Twilight do you want?”
Twilight looked down not saying a word.
After a few seconds, Snowdrop gave an idea, “I’d like some help making snowflakes.”
Twilight’s eyes lit up, “I’ll help! I’ll help!”
Snowdrop and Primrose smiled, “Then let’s go.”
Later
Primrose along with the two fillies in her care entered the house.
Twilight looked around the dwelling finding it strange after being surrounded by more the regal castle decorations seeing the pegasi’s house only having tables, chairs and barely any decorations.
Primrose glanced to the young filly, “It may not be a castle but it’s our home.”
Twilight turned to Primrose and smiled.
Snowdrop asked, “Would you want to see how I make Snowflakes?”
After jumping off the older filly’s back Twilight responded, “Yes!”
Snowdrop knowing her way led the alicorn to a small workshop she had in her house. The pegasus brought out a small piece of ice placing it on the table. After which she helped Twilight use a feather to carve the piece into a shape, “Just slowly scrape the ice away and crave a shape.”
“What kind of shape?” Twilight looked up at the pegasus
“Any shape you want.” The filly kept carving the flake but couldn’t quite decide what the shape and it ended up being a mix of a heart and star.
Meanwhile
Luna turned to her husband as Twilight left with the two pegasi, “I hope Twilight will be alright.”
“She will Primrose and Snowdrop won’t let anything bad happen.” Night replied.
Luna nodded she was still worried but Night was insistent on not being so protective. One other question was buzzing around her mind why had the Earl Leo Sky and Countess Gold Clouds, asked for both herself and her sister.
Luna and her husband followed the guard to the Cloudsdale palace. Entering she as greeted by the two leaders greeted the higher royal, “Greetings Princess Luna we apologize for the sudden meeting but we have a crisis.” Leo said
Luna tried to push Twilight into the back of her mind for the moment asking, “What is the crisis you speak of?”
“The Crystal Empire we’ve received word it has fallen under the control of a cruel unicorn named Sombra,” Leo informed the alicorn
Luna froze.
“Wh-What about Amore?” Celestia’s voice suddenly joined in.
Luna and her husband turned around to see the tall white alicorn with her guard a white coated stallion with a bright orange mane wearing the Solar Guard armour.
Gold looked down, “Her family was able to escape but she was lost.”
“Why were we not informed of this?” Luna questioned tuning back to the other royals.
“Apologies Princess but the Princess Amore’s family have just arrived in our fair city and were unable to reach your castle,” Leo told.
The Royal sisters nodded.
Following their respected Princess, Night and Crimson glanced at each other. The latter told, “Are you prepared to fight if necessary Shadow.”
“Yes I am.” the other captain replied.
After reaching a shelter room of sorts the two alicorn’s were saddened to see the group of ponies covered in wounds and having looks of sadness in their eyes one looked up and did her best to greet the two alicorn’s, “Princess Celestia and Luna. Your highnesses I regret to meet you in this state.”
“It is quite alright. Crystal Shine.” Celestia said, “We must not linger on that or the unfortunate fate of Amore.”
“Indeed there are some rather important questions we must ask.” Luna entered the conversation, “For example how this Sombra took over?”
Crystal after moment sighed and answered, “Of course. Sombra was once a normal unicorn but for reasons only he knows his heart fell into darkness and grew hungry for power. He soon made his attack on the place overpowering every guard that tried to fight him off. Amore couldn’t stand to see her subjects endure such harm and confronted him. The two of them fought with all they had but Sombra with the dark magic he’d learned defeated Amore and turned her to stone then.... he shattered the statue.”
Luna and her sister listened to the mare’s every word staying completely silent until the pegasus had finished her story once the alicorn’s had heard the facts knew they saw no way they could save Amore but they could free the Crystal Empire.
“We will find a way to save your people and avenge our fallen friend,” Celestia assured the group.
Luna looked around the room before turning away, “Sister I believe we should make our leave.”
“I agree, Luna,” Celestia responded.
The alicorn’s left the room meeting their captains waiting outside the shelter room.
“You realize this Sombra will likely attempt to end our peaceful rain and bring his own across Equestria,” Celestia said in very serious tone.
Luna nodded after hearing about this threat she could only think of her daughter’s safety if anything happened to them Twilight would be lost as well.
“Luna where is Twilight?” Celestia questioned.
Luna looked up slightly, “Snowdrop and Primrose are watching her while we were called away for this unfortunate meeting.”
“So that’s where she is I’m sure she was very happy with that.” Celestia tried to smile
The two alicorns left the palace while walking through the town Crimson spoke up, “I believe we should be going Your Highness retrieving Princess Twilight as a group of four is unnecessary.”
Celestia turned to the unicorn, “I understand your point but after hearing of this new threat our family must stick together until Sombra has been stopped.”
Crimson staying stoic and although reluctant responded, “Very well.”
Celestia turned her head back forward seeing a small house come into view a short distance away from the group.
Luna picked up her speed as she saw the three ponies walking just outside the dwelling.
As the three ponies stepped out of the house the youngest caught sight of a group of four ponies including two alicorns, a pegasus and unicorn, “Mommy, Daddy!
Primrose turned seeing the youngest princess rushing towards her family. Snowdrop smiled from the filly’s excitement and joy from seeing her family.
Twilight literally jumped into her mother’s chest.
“Oof!” Luna slightly grunted pulling the young filly into a short embrace.
“Mommy why is Auntie Tia here?” Twilight tilted her head as her mother pulled her out of the embrace.
Luna paused very slightly, “Sh-she just wanted to see us.” the alicorn replied.
Primrose stepped forward, “Hello Celestia.”
Crimson cleared his throat agrevated, “Princess Celestia.”
Celestia glanced towards the unicorn, “It is quite alright Captain she does not need to address me by title at the moment. We are not in any formal meeting.”
Crimson nodded and accepted the Princess’s statement, “Very well Your Highness.”
Night stepped forward towards the yellow pegasus, “Thank you for taking care of her.”
“It’s was our pleasure.” Primrose smiled
Celestia glanced towards her younger sister and niece before informing to the two pegasi, “I apologize but we must be going certain events have been made known to us and require our intervention.”
“Oh w-we understand.” Snowdrop sighed slightly upset at her friend’s quick departure.
Luna smiled and put a hoof on the filly’s shoulder, “I apologize Snowdrop. I too am saddened at our sudden departure. We’ll continue this another time.”
The pegasus nodded, “I’ll keep carving Snowflakes for this and many winters to come.”
“Good. I’m looking forward to seeing your creations.” Luna responded. “Farewell, for now, my friend.”
“Goodbye.” Snowdrop smiled.
“Bye Snowy! Bye Primy!” Twilight waved at the two pegasi.
Snowdrop just giggled, “Bye Twilight!”
Primrose returned the filly’s wave goodbye.
“Did you enjoy your visit Twilight?” Celestia gave her niece a quick smile nuzzle.
“Yes” Twilight responded smiling. “But why do we have to leave?”
“Your aunt and I have an important..” Luna paused not wanting to tell the filly the truth. “...Meeting to attend.”
Twilight tilted her head before asking, “Where? Can I come?”
Celestia lowering her head, “No Twilight it’s not a meeting for little fillies.”
“O-ok Auntie.” Twilight looked down.
“Don’t worry Twilight. Your father will stay behind.” Luna assured her daughter.
Night smiled picking up his daughter and helped her on to his back. The ponies approached a larger chariot, “I’m guessing you had our chariot sent back to the castle.”
“That’s correct Night,” Celestia responded.
After all the ponies stepped onto the golden transport and the group of pegasi started their return flight to the castle Twilight glanced over to her mother and aunt who were whispering about something with extremely serious expressions. Oblivious to what they were talking about Twilight just looked down seeing the image of her home appear over the horizon.
