Once upon a time…before Equestria was the land known today, there was a King and a queen who died and were re-born. For they represented life and death, and gave their last breath to help the last draconequus family. The family all had the head of a pony, and a body made up of all sorts of things.
They were meant to be immortals…unless somebody killed them. The family had one son with them, and per request of the dead royalties, they took both fillies that were in place of them. A white unicorn with a long, brown, mane and a black Pegasus with a grey mane.
Chaotica and Disaster were loving parents to their children, blood and adoptive. They named the pegasus Hades, just like the king's first name, which was Hades Morte. His last name in this occasion was Dark. And his soulmate, his queen, the unicorn…her name was Leuce Lumine, for the queen's first name had been Lumine Nathura.
They lived happily with their elder brother Discord, who helped them with their power, hoping one day they would gain their true nature: alicorn. Creatures who had a horn and wings as well to display to the world, for their power was greater than any believed. Hades was death, Leuce was life. Both were needed for harmony to exist in all Equestria.
Yet…the time with their parents would be cut short, for some powerful unicorns of Equestria had killed them, wishing to destroy chaos. They did not realize that by doing so, the balance would be broken. Leuce cried for their parents, wanting to revive them with her powers. Her future love, and her brother stopped the unicorn before she accidentally killed herself.
"Let me save them! Please!" cried the white unicorn in tears.
"No, Leu, you are not strong enough…you will die!" explained Discord to the youngest of the family.
"He is right…don't worry, I'll take their souls" Hades said with determination.
That was when he received his cutie mark, a skull surrounded by spirals of smoke appeared on his flank. But Hades payed no mind to it, he just accomplished his mission to set his adoptive parents free to heaven's gate. Now, the three siblings were alone, only celebrating the fact that the black pegasus had gained such a special thing.
They traveled the lands, through the Everfree forest. Till they got to the grounds of an abandoned castle, upon arrival, Leuce's horn started to shine, and the palace made with flowers, dark diamonds and vines started to grow to life again. Everything around them knew life and death had come to reclaim the thrones. That was how she obtained her cutie mark.
They met later a good friend of theirs, Chrysalis, an insect-like alicorn. She had the power over hate, hence her consuming love of people and spreading it as well. She did not want to keep it all to herself. All though Discord did not like her near his siblings, they ignored his warnings, and kept on talking to the capricious creature that could change forms.
They later headed to Canterlot, to show they were alive, with the draconequus as their prime minister. Announcing who they were to the ponies who, for some reason, hid in terror of them. But something changed when they received their crowns, Discord couldn't understand their bitterness towards the magnificent situation. Something in their eyes showed maturity that shouldn't be in filies their age.
It was shown as they pranced the streets ,now, connected to their palace of life and death.
"Sick of all these ponies talking, sick of all this noise"sang grumbling Hades.
"Tired of all these royal duties , sick of being poised" added Leuce.
"Now our heads held high, begging for a crown on top them" both in unison sang to Discord's surprise "Already choking on our pride, so there's no use crying about it"
"Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei" he heard the ponies in town whisper.
"We're headed straight for the castle. They wanna make us their queen/king"sang the new royals seriously"And there's a draconequus sitting on the throne that's saying that we probably shouldn't be so mean"
This was true, the spirit of caos, their older brother, had been trying to make them soften. But after so many insults…it was hard (mainly for Hades9 to pardon their people.
"We're headed straight for the castle, we've got the kingdom locked up. And there's a draconequus sitting on the throne that's saying we should probably keep our pretty mouths shut"
"Straight for the castle" mumbled Discord.
"Oh, all of these minutes passing, sick of feeling used" said the young Leuce. For people only called her to cure everything and everyone. To avoid the inevitable death.
"If you wanna break these walls down, you're gonna get bruised" warned their prime minister.
"Now our neck is heavy at night, begging to take the necklace around it"sighed Hades irritably. "Already choking on my pride, so there's no use crying about it"
(Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei)
"We're living inside the castle. They made us their rulers" both life and death sang tiredly every day.
"And there's chaos sitting on the throne that's saying that I probably shouldn't be so mean"growled Hades.
"Death living inside the castle, it's got the kingdom afraid" informed the draconequus to the lovers "And there's a pair of sisters, who claim to be better than you every day. They challenge you to battle"
"There's no use crying about it…"
The alicorns were informed by Tirek, a creature hidden in a vulnerable disguise to fool the sisters, that the king of death and the queen of life were causing trouble for Equestria. He said they were stealing magic.
Yet, that was not the case. The deceived princesses did not lose time to get to the palace where the unicorn and pegasus resided. They still hadn't been able to gain their wings and horn to be back to their former selves before re-encarnation.
"We're headed straight for the castle" a white alicorn sang along with a blue one. The eldest had the sun on her flank, and the other…the moon. "They wanna made us their princesses"
Leuce pleaded to them not to hurt anyone. Not even Chrysalis, who had come to visit. The queen of life and queen of the changelings stared at both sisters. The unicorn with a diamond tiara along with a crown of leaves, and flowers in her hair, stared at them with her deep green eyes. She wished them to stop.
"And there's a young mare sitting on the throne that's saying that we probably should retreat"both sisters sang to the trembling unicorn, harming Chrysalis, in order to come in front of the spirit of life.
"You are inside the castle" She whispered "What else do you want?"
"For the freedom of Equestria, the king and queen, we both must defeat"Just in time came Hades, to see the sisters lock his beloved in crystal.
"Straight for revenge" sang Hades swooping down to attack. "You wanted your King"
"The queen's pleadings for mercy in your name justice didn't avoid" declared Celestia, summoning the elements of harmony.
"She was an innocent queen" cried the black pegasus.
"you've got Equestria locked up" answered Luna back as she assisted her sister in locking him in crystal.
"And in a million years, you shall remain, locked in the crystal rocks"said Celestia looking at their work.
"Straight for the castle" whispered Discord, crying as he saw what remained of his teenaged siblings.
Chrysalis swore revenge, she would eat all the love that existed in Equestria and never give it back. She turned into a dark creature that nobody could defeat. The whole land was devastated at first. But the sisters brought order once more. They defeated the angry lord of chaos, turning him into solid stone.
Many years later Luna was banished for a thousand years…
Celestia thought it was the end of the reign of evil. She couldn't be more wrong. For life and death would soon come back. And Hades would stop at nothing to get revenge…
Strange happenings had started occurring in Equestria. The clouds were now cotton candy, the rain was chocolate milk, corn turned into popcorn, animals gained abilities never seen before. Princess Celestia had seen this long before…during the time Discord had sworn revenge on the name of the ponies he had cared for, the very ones turned into crystal a million years ago.
The alicorn of the sun called upon her faithful student: Twilight Sparkle, along with her friends, to have help in defeating this familiar foe. The one she knew well enough, had been her responsibility. Pacing around the castle, she prayed they would arrive soon, for they were the spirits of the elements of harmony.
When those she summoned appeared in Canterlot, hope sparked in her eyes.
"Princess Celestia!" called Twilight running along with her friends. "We came as fast as we could"
"Thank you Twilight, thank you all" greeted the princess.
"Is this about the weather? And the animals weird behavior? What is happening?! Why isn't my magic working wh-"
"Follow me" interrupted Celestia, guiding the six ponies towards the stained glass windows in a particular hallway.
"I called you here for a matter of great importance, it seems an old foe of mine. Someone I thought defeated long ago, has returned. His name…is Discord" explained the alicorn to the ponies. "Discord is the mischievous spirit of disharmony. Before my sister and I stood up to him, he ruled Equestria with unrest and unhappiness. Luna and I saw how miserable life was for earth ponies, pegasai and unicorns alike. So after discovering the elements of harmony we combined our powers and rose up against him, turning him to stone"
"But…Celestia, why did he do that to Equestria?" Asked Fluttershy, a timid yellow pegasus to the princess.
"Because, me and my sister made a mistake." Sighed Celestia. "Before that, Equestria was a land of harmony. It harbored two queens and two kings. The queen of life, Leuce Lumine. The king of death, Hades Dark. The queen of the crystal changelings, Chrysalis. The king of shadows, Sombra." Explained Celestia "They had made peace, along with the prime minister of chaos, Discord, who was responsible to keep the lands happy…"
"But…what happened?" wondered Twilight.
"Me and my sister were deceived by a manticore. Told that Hades and Leuce were misusing their power and taking magic from all the land." Sighed the alicorn looking at a stain glassed window "We turned them both into crystals and ignored the pleas of Chrysalis that they were innocent…She, Sombra and Discord swore revenge against Equestria. Discord taking over the lands, Chrysalis and her husband Sombra, trying to take over the crystal empire."
"That's terrible!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie.
"But…is there any way to solve this?" questioned Twilight.
"I do not know…" sighed the princess "I thought the spell we cast on Discord would keep him contained forever. But since Luna and I are no longer connected to the elements the spell has been broken."
"No longer connected?" asked Twilight.
"This is Canterlot tower, where the elements are kept inside." Said Celestia upon getting to a specific door "Since all of you recovered them. I need you to wield the elements of harmony once again and stop Discord, before he thrusts Equestria into eternal chaos."
"But why us!?" questioned the princess' protégé "Why don't you…"
"Hey look!" interrupted Pinkie looking at a stained glass window "We're famous!"
Indeed, on the glass were the six ponies, blasting Nightmare moon back to her former self.
"You six showed the full potential of the elements by harnessing the magic of your friendship to beat a mighty foe!" encouraged the white alicorn "All though, my sister and I once wielded the elements. It is you who now have their power and it is you who must defeat Discord!"
"Princess Celestia you can count on"
"Hold on a second!" interrupted the pink earth pony. "Eternal Chaos comes with chocolate rain, you got it? Also! Why don't we look for the king of death and queen of life!"
"Don't listen to her Princess, we'd be honored to use the elements of harmony again" Declared twilight with a smile to her mentor.
"I have confidence that you will be able to defeat him…with these" said Celestia opening the door and the chest where the elements were supposed to be.
To their utter horror and surprise…none of them were there. All of them stared slacked jawed at the revelation. Meanwhile Pinkie Pie tried to leave just to be under chocolate rain.
"The elements! They're gone!" exclaimed twilight
"That chamber can only be opened with a spell only I can break!" fretted Celestia. "This doesn't make sense!"
A laughter echoed through the palace causing everyone to stay alert.
"Making sense oh? What fun is there in making sense!?" asked a male voice "Then again…you and Lulu never chose to make sense on what my sister told you!"
"Discord! Show yourself!" ordered Celestia.
"Aww did you miss me Celestia?" asked the voice. "I missed you. Well, that spell as weak. But then again, you wouldn't know that would you? Because I do not turn ponies into crystal and stone"
If they payed attention one of the drawings on the windows started to move and speak.
"Enough! What have you done to the elements of harmony!?"
"Oh? Those my sister created for the tree that would balance everything? The ones you stole from there just to defeat me? Mighty thank you, you gave the poor unicorn Celestia." Laughed Discord "Since she created them for us…I decided to borrow them for a teensy little while."
"You'll never get away with this Discord!" declared the princess in anger.
"Like you did with Hades and Leuce? On the contrary my dear…I think I already have!"
"Hey! No pony insults the princess!" Growled Rainbow Dash. Flying as fast as she could towards the moving glass figure, only to hit herself on her face.
"Oh! You must be Rainbow Dash! Famed for her loyalty, the element of harmony you represent. Just like my little brother Hades"
"That's right! I will always be loyal to the princess!" answered the rainbow maned pegasus.
"We'll see about that" Discord said.
"I can't believe we are wasting our time talking to a tacky window!" mumbled Rarity.
"Beautiful Rarity representing the element of generosity! This once was something Chrysalis owned! If I am not mistaken" laughed the draconequus.
"So ye know who we are! Big deal!" exclaimed Apple Jack.
"Heh! I would think so! But you see Apple Jack, you took the element of Honesty from Sombra himself" chastised Discord. "Oh, and Pinkie Pie the element of Laughter! Just like me! And I suppose little Fluttershy is kindness…just like my little sister Leuce"
"You seem to know our strengths too" said Twilight.
"Yes, Twilight Sparkle. And yours is the most powerful and most lucid element: Magic" said Discord "The element that represented us all and our strong bond"
"Stop stalling Discord! What did you do with the elements of harmony!?" yelled Celestia.
"Oh, so boring Celestia. Never listening! But fine, I'll tell you…but my way!" declared the spirit of Chaos.
"To retrieve your missing elements just make sense of this change of events. Twists and turns are my master plan. Then find the elements back where you began."
He took away their wings and horns at the begging of the labyrinth. Leaving some things for them to overcome, yet, he flew towards the Everfree forest. All the way towards an abandoned castle, and the dungeon held within. There in the center of it, a dark and clear crystal could be seen, inside a unicorn and a pegasus frozen in time.
It did not take him much, but he managed to free them both. The king of death and queen of life had come back once more. Discord smiled, hugging his precious siblings, the ones he had tried to protect with all his heart. Both of them corresponded the embrace.
"Discord! You did it!" exclaimed Leuce Lumine.
"I knew you would" Added Hades Dark.
"Thank you! Now you both, reconstruct the castle! I have a bit of a things to do!"
And so he left. And never came back…the lovers each earned what they were missing by bringing back the life to the castle they once lived in. Both of them now official alicorns.
Yet…young Leuce sang a sad song…for her darling brother who had been gone.
"Glowing horns,
Flying wings,
Chaos part of the scenery,
And a song a queen sings
Once upon an eternity.
Once we lived safe and warm.
Laughter drowned the chocolate storms.
Friends singing in harmony
Across my memory...
Family and friends are gone.
Alicorns is what we've become.
