The Letter

View Online

'Dear Starlight Glimmer,
It would be our pleasure if you would join us on a midnight stroll through Ponyville tomorrow night, we happily await your reply,

Sincerely,
Princess Luna'

Starlight held the letter with her magic for a moment as she processed the information she had just read. The princess wanted her to come with her on one of her midnight strolls that she only held for those close to her. Starlight was at a loss, she had never thought herself that close to the princess of the night, but was flattered nonetheless.

'Dear princess Luna' Starlight began, 'I am flattered at the offer, and I whole heartedly accept, thank you for the offer,

Starlight Glimmer'

She used her magic to teleport the scroll to spike, who was setting at the other side of the map/table.

"Alrighty Starlight, off to Princess Luna!" Spike said cheerfully as he used his dragon breath to send the scroll to the waiting Princess Luna.

Starlight then proceeded to continue on with her day, doing chores around the castle and working on her friendship report for Twilight at the end of the week. She had just walked to the edge of the room to walk out when Spike began to choke and spit out a letter from the night bringer.

"Starlight!!" Spike choked out as he held up the letter weakly. "It's... it's from Princess Luna!!"

Starlight shut the door and trotted back to Spike, where she took up the letter with her magic and read it aloud.

'Dear Starlight,
We are thrilled that you will be joining us, please meet us at the courthouse at dusk tomorrow, and bring a quill and scroll,

Sincerely,
Princess Luna'

"Huh, why would I need a quill and scroll for?" Starlight asked herself as she rolled the scroll back up before giving it back to Spike, who placed it on a small shelf. She then walked out of the room as she began to question her time with the princess on the next night.

At the castle, Princess Luna paced around in the throne room as the door opened to reveal Princess Celestia, who looked to her sister with confused amusement.

"Luna... what are you doing?" She asked as she walked in and stopped her sister.

"He's coming back tomorrow!" Luna said loudly and full of enthusiasm.

She was talking about their older sibling, Fury Flight, who had been gone for a couple centuries, on 'classified' missions... even from the rulers of the realm.

"Hmm, when will he be here?" Celestia asked a little blandly. She hadn't had the best past with her brother, as he hadn't really been there for them when they needed him, and only returned when he felt he needed to.

"Sometime tomorrow afternoon, he even said something about staying this time!!" Luna squealed with joy.

Celestia smiled as she watched her sister liven with joy, as the truth was that Luna had been too young to remember what Fury had been like, but Celestia remembered perfectly.

' "Celestia... they're.. they're gone.." Fury said slowly as he broke the news to her about their parents deaths. "I... I tried to save them,"

"No you didn't! You wanted them dead so you could be king!!" She yelled at the stallion, who shrunk.

"No... I didn't... I never wanted to rule, so you.. your next in line, so the crown goes to you," Fury said as he used his magic to place the crown upon her head. "I hope one day you can forgive me sister.. I, I really did try to save them..." '

Celestia turned and left the room to let Luna have her happy day.

The meeting

The next evening, Starlight found herself at the courthouse at dusk. She watched as the princess of the night flew regally down towards her. She landed beside Starlight with a gentle grace as she gestured for Starlight to follow.

"Good evening Starlight, does this night find you well?" Princess Luna asked as she began to stroll down the main road of Ponyville.

"Yes it does princess, but I'm wondering if why I needed a quill and scroll?" Starlight asked as she pulled out the aforementioned materials from her saddlebag.

"Yes, we asked you here for an important reason Starlight Glimmer, a way end an argument between me and my sister.."

"What? You mean you don't really need me, just another pony?" Starlight asked, hurt.

"No Starlight, it is you that I wanted, as it was you who brought me and my sister closer, and it is you who can end this argument.."

"Well, ok.. what's going on?" She asked as they passed Sugarcube Corner.

"Well, there is a pony that we're both close to, but my sister thinks he's evil, but we know better, and we wanted to show our sister from the eyes of another pony.." Luna said proudly as she looked to Starlight.

"Ok, who is it?"

"Oh.. he's our brother," Luna said with pride.

Starlight stopped dead in her tracks...

"Wait? What!?!" Starlight nearly screamed.

Luna turned around and looked at Starlight peculiarly. "Did you not know?" She asked, confused.

"I don't think any pony knows Princess!!" Starlight said.

Luna looked puzzled for a moment before continuing her path. "Well, he has been gone for a few hundred years, but nonetheless, he has returned.."

"Where and who is he?" Starlight asked as she caught up to Luna.

"His name is Fury Flight, and he is meeting us at the bridge on the edge of town," Luna said as she pointed with a wing to the bridge, where a cloaked pony sat alone, watching the stars above.

"Um, why are we meeting him during the night princess? Is he a bat pony or something?" Starlight asked as they came closer to the bridge.

"What? No Starlight, he is an alicorn like us... why do you ask??"

"I dunno.. I just get weird feelings when I meet ponies at night.. I just get that feeling like something bad is gonna happen to me ya know.." Starlight said quickly as she brought forth a forced smile.

Princess Luna began to laugh as she spoke. "Star-light, our brother is not going to hurt you... we can assure you, but we are meeting at night because he has been rather busy with our sister today, formalities and all.." she said as they reached the bridge.

The cloaked pony turned his head to look upon his new guests.

"Good evening sister, and hello Starlight Glimmer, am I right?" The pony asked in a moderately deep voice.

"H-How do you know my name?" Starlight asked.

"My dear, you do not become the student of the famed Twilight Sparkle or invited on one of my sister's private strolls without other ponies knowing your name.." he said with a small smile. "And Luna may have told me your name.."

Starlight's confusion lessened a little as she smiled back at the alicorn as he drew the cloak back. Behind the cloak were a pair of brilliant blue eyes, eyes that danced in the moonlight. His mane was spiked back and shown like fire with yellow and red Mix.

"Um, why doesn't your mane, well ya know... do that?" Starlight asked as she pointed to Luna's mane, which shimmered and moved to an absent wind.

Fury simple chuckled as he explained. "My mane does not... shimmer because unlike my sisters, I do not control a celestial body."

"If you don't control some part of the world, what do you do?" Starlight asked as she began to scribble on her scroll.

"Now I didn't say that.. I may not control the sun or moon, but I still have a part in the world.." he said as he removed the cloak completely to reveal a the rest of his body. His cutie mark shown a scale with the Elements on one side and something else on the other.

"My part in this world is balance... between chaos and harmony..."

"So your a parent to one of the Elements?" Starlight asked, confused.

"No, the Elements existed long before I was born, I am simply here to ensure neither side gets out of whack.... which brings us to you.." he said as his voice and body language changed.

"Your little debacle with time has created a major problem..."

"What, but I learned my lesson! I'll never do it again!" Starlight said squeamishly.

"Maybe you have, but there are still consequences, and the keepers of the balance are not happy... the balance has been broken, and now Harmony outweighs chaos..."

"Isn't that a good thing???" Starlight asked weakly.

"Our world is governed by a fine line of chaos and harmony, each keeping each other in check... but now, the line is severed... and harmony now reigns without equal, which is why I returned...".

"To do what???" Starlight asked, scared.

"To correct this wrong, and restore the balance... whatever it takes," he said as he turned to Luna, who had been silent the whole time, trying to comprehend what she was hearing.

"B-brother... n-no..." she said lightly as she finally realized what she had done.

"Tonight, begins Equestria's restoration to balance!" Fury growled as he used his magic to grab Princess Luna. "And the beginning of the end for Harmony..." he said before he and Princess Luna vanished.

The Abduction

View Online

Starlight's eyes shot open as she jumped off of her bed, screaming at the top of her lungs. "Luna!!! Nooo!!!!!"

The bedroom door burst open as Twilight ran in, magic ready for whatever had her friend in peril.

"Starlight!!" Twilight yelled as she ran in and realized she was having a nightmare. She quickly ran over to her and got the unicorn's attention.

"Starlight, Starlight.. it's okay.. it's okay.. it was just a bad dream.." Twilight said as she soothed Starlight down.

"Twilight... it wasn't a dream.. Princess Luna's been kidnapped!! We gotta find her!" Starlight half yelled, half screamed at the alicorn.

"Easy Starlight, easy..." Twilight lulled, "Princess Luna is fine, she's back at the castle, trust me.."

"No Twilight!! She was kidnapped by her older brother, he said he was gonna destroy-"

"Starlight! It was a bad dream!" Twilight interrupted as she scolded her. "Princess Luna is fine!"

"But are you..." came a deep voice from the hall, and before Twilight was able to react, she and Starlight both were frozen by a magical energy. Then a brown alicorn walked into the room, keeping his focus on Starlight.

"This was almost too easy... and you played your part perfectly Starlight Glimmer.. hahahahhaa... such a shame you turned from your path, you would've made a fine ruler... but now you will watch as we tear your world apart, piece by piece..." Fury said as he circled the unicorn.

"Who- who are you!?!" Twilight asked, bewildered.

"Yes.. where are my manners, my name is Fury Flight, son of Galaxo, and a keeper of balance.. a balance that you and your friends have severed with the age of Harmony."

"Harmony is balance! Without harmony there would only be chaos!!" Twilight said as she tried to break free from her restraint.

"You are only but a child Twilight Sparkle, only knowing what ponies have taught you, mainly my sister... who believed that Harmony would save us from the cruel world, and refused to believe in the balance of harmonic chaos..." Fury said as he lifted Twilight into the air, where she began to panic slightly.

"It doesn't matter what you do to me.. Harmony will always go on!" Twilight said as she held out against Fury.

"Are you so sure Twilight Sparkle?" He asked as he chuckled. "You have done so much for Harmony... no other could compare to you, and yet you speak of going on without you! Hahahhahahaaaa!!!" He said as he then released Starlight.

"Sorry Starlight, but we have to take our leave, I'm sure you'll understand.." Fury said as he and Twilight vanished.

"Nooooo!!! Twilight!!!" Starlight screamed as she ran to the now empty space. She wanted to cry, but instead began to giggle.

"This is-isn't wh-what I wanted to do," Starlight said as she giggled harder. Her magic then shot out of her horn and shot to the ground.

"M-my magic," Starlight giggled. "W-what's going on??" She panicked as she tried to figure out what had just happened.

"Without Twilight... he turned the tide, harmony has fallen.." Starlight said slowly as she thought of an explanation.

She ran from the bedroom to the throne/map room and called the rest of the mane six to the castle.

The Legend

View Online

"Twilight is WHERE!!?!" Applejack screamed as she and the other mane five heard the grave news of Twilight's abduction.

"I-I tried to save her, b-but I couldn't.." Starlight said sadly as she recalled the events earlier.

"But your a pretty powerful unicorn Starlight, why couldn't you?" Rainbow asked as she scratched an itch behind her ear.

"He was an alicorn Rainbow, and he had a magic powerful enough to overtake Princess Luna too, I-I just wasn't strong enough... not that it matters now, I have don't have any magic anymore.."

"WHAT!!!" The other five screamed in unison.

"When he left, my magic went crazy and left my horn, and now I don't have any magic."

Starlight slowly walked over to a window where she looked out at the town of Ponyville. "He said that tonight was the beginning of the end for Harmony..." she said before turning around and looking back at her friends. "What if he was right, without Twilight, the Elements can't work.."

"Maybe darling," Rarity said as she comforted Starlight, "but the Elements were locked away for a thousand years and harmony still existed.."

"Yes... but this, is different.." came the voice of Princess Celestia.

The six ponies began to look around for the ruler of Equestria to find her softly gliding to the ground outside the castle.

The six friends rushed out to meet her and to hear her wisdom.

"What do you mean Princess?" Starlight asked as she and the others sat down around the ruler.

"Twilight has always been different from the other ponies, and I had always overlooked it until the events of today.." she said as she looked over the six with motherly love. "My brother spoke of the balance between harmony and chaos so often before he left, and I thought he was just struck with grief, until he told me a story..." she said before using her magic to produce a holographic image of a book.

"Long, long ago, long before the birth of Equestria, were the two... Helia the Harmonious, and Caspian the Chaotic... they fought numerous times, with the balance of power shifting between them so often that it could not be counted, until Helia was able to reason with Caspian, and together they created the Elements of Harmony and forged a balance that would hold the world in order... and so it came to pass and the two lived in harmony, until Caspian plotted to destroy the balance and rule the world. To do this he tricked Helia into entering the afterlife with him, saying that they would return when the world was driven out of balance, but Helia saw through his scheme and held him in the afterlife, for all eternity..." Celestia said as she looked to the stars.

"But I fear that even eternity, isn't forever... and thus Helia and Caspian have both returned.."

The other ponies gasped as Celestia told them of the old legend.

"What does this have to do with Twilight?" Starlight asked, confused.

"Well Starlight Glimmer, at first I was as oblivious as you, until the realization hit me, that Twilight Sparkle is the reincarnated Helia, the Harmonious.."

The ponies gasped a second time.

"That would explain why Fury would want her, but what did he mean when he talked about me??" Starlight asked, beginning to grow concerned.

"You once played a vital role Starlight, as you once held the reincarnated soul of Caspian, until you were shown compassion by Twilight. Caspian, then sensing his defeat, allowed the map to eject his soul from yours, and was able to attach to Fury's.." Celestia said as she returned her gaze to the ponies before her. "And now, the only pony who can stop him.. is Twilight.."

"How are we supposed to get to her princess?" Applejack asked as her and the mane five began to strategize.

"I'm afraid that I cannot send you five... without Twilight, you are no match for Fury, and so I will send others," Celestia said as she turned to Starlight.

"You and your friends will travel to find Fury, in which you will find your magic, and more... but beware Starlight, though you and friends fared well against Chryssalis and the changelings, Fury will be a much harder challenge, and he will push you to the very edge.. I'm afraid that is all the information I can give on him, and so I bid you farewell, and best of luck," Celestia said as she returned to the air and began to fly back to Canterlot.

"Well Starlight, I guess we'll be here if you need us," Applejack said as she and the others turned and walked into the castle.

Starlight sat alone in the street as the weight of her new mission weighed on her. She had to save Twilight from an evil alicorn that contained the soul of a god, and she had to do it without her magic.

As Discord and the others appeared in the throne room, they were welcomed by Celestia careening through the air before colliding into her throne, which crumbled around her. As she tried to get up, a large vase was thrown at her by the other alicorn, which effectively hit her in the temple, momentarily stunning her.

“Celestia, why do you still trouble yourself, just give up and I will spare you…” Fury Flight said as he used his magic to levitate her in the air before him.

“I will never stop resisting you.. so long as I draw breath,” she answered as her own horn lit up and she blasted him in the eye with a small bolt of magic.

Fury screamed out in pain as he dropped Celestia and cupped his eye. He then used his magic to create a forcefield around him as he healed from his wound.

“Celestia! You'll pay for that!” He screamed as his forcefield shattered and he began his assault anew. He stormed Celestia with a barrage of magical bolts before using his magic to throw her into a nearby wall.

“This world will be brought back into balance!” He said as he approached her, creating a portal into Tartarus with his magic.

“The balance is maintained by Harmony Brother!” Celestia roared as she used her own magic to close the portal and throw Fury across the room, where he slammed into a large statue of Celestia that shattered around him.

He rose from the rubble and with the aid of his magic, lifted the remains of the statue and hurled them towards Celestia.

As the battle continued, Discord, Starlight and Trixie hid behind one of the royal banners that decorated the throne room.

“Discord.. you have to do something,” Starlight whispered to the draconequus, who merely nodded. “Discord!!” She stealthily yelled/whispered.

“Yes yes, very well, let's see..” Discord said as he fiddled with his beard, “what to do, what to do?”

“You better make it quick, look,” Trixie said as she pointed a hoof towards the now climactic battle.

“The Balance Will be restored!!” Fury said as he flung Celestia into the throne of her sister.

“N-no.. harmony is balance..” she said weakly as she tried and failed to stand.

“Harmony has had its shot, it is now time for the age of Chaos!” Fury said with pride as he approached his sister.

“That's it!” Discord said as his head lit up like a light bulb, “I'll pelt him with pears!!!”

“Pears? Why pears?” Starlight asked, confused.

“Why not? Wouldn't you run if you were pelted by pears?” He asked, a smile making its way across his face.

“Well… I guess you have a point,” Starlight said as she shrugged her shoulders.

“Alright, stand aside,” he said as he threw the curtains back and charged into battle, riding a galloping Apple with singing pears flying above him. “FOR CELESTIAAAA!!!”

Fury turned his attention from his downed opponent to the draconequus coming towards him. “What is this?” He asked himself as the first pear hit him, singing the song Winter Wrap Up.

“Ugh.. is this your resistance?” Fury said with a cackle as he turned to Celestia. He was struck by another pear singing the blues and then one singing heavy metal. He began to growl before using his magic to fade away. “This isn't over Celestia…”

As the alicorn vanished, Starlight and Trixie came out of their hiding place behind the banner and galloped to the throne, where Discord had helped Celestia to a sitting position.

“Princess Celestia, are you alright?” Starlight asked as she got to the ruler.

“I think I'll be ok after a few days,” Celestia said as she winced when Discord touched her wing. “I, I've been through worse..”

As Celestia felt the extent of her injuries, Starlight's mind was focused on finding the alicorn responsible.

“Princess, where can we find Fury Flight?” She asked as she walked away from the princess and surveyed the damage.

At this, Celestia started to faulter, but answered Starlight's question. “Starlight, Fury is taking his refuge in a cave in the Smokey Mountains to the north..”

“The Smokey Mountains are a three days hard gallop, how are we supposed to get there before he comes back and finishes the job?” Starlight asked, but before Celestia gave her an answer, Discord interrupted.

“Then thank Celestia that I, Discord, the Master of Chaos, Lord of Lawlessness, Duke of Disharmony”

“Discord, we get it, now get on with it!” Trixie snapped.

“Oh, very well, I could just pop us over there, and then just pop myself back and watch over Celestia until you two free Twilight and Princess Luna,” Discord said as he snapped his claws.

“Thank you for the offer Discord, but you will be needed in the mountains as well, as you will help Starlight get her magic back,” Celestia said as she rose to her hooves. “I'll be fine, really I will..”

“Very well Princess, we'll do this your way,” Discord said as he snapped his claws and a brown army coat complete with helmet and boots appeared on the three friends. “Come on girls! Let's go save the world!!” He said as he and the two unicorns disappeared.

Twilight awoke to see her new surroundings. She was in a cell of some kind, closed off from the other part of the room by thick steel bars. Her mane was soaked with her own sweat as she could feel the heat from something outside. She tried to use her magic to pry the bars apart, but the bars sat quietly judging her as she concentrated on them.

“My magic..” she whispered, hoping that she didn't alert a guard. She heard the sound of a few pebbles falling and slowly turned to see her cellmate. She was relieved when she saw that it was none other that Princess Luna.

“Princess!!! You're alive!” Twilight screamed as she ran and hugged the princess of the night, who was in a state of shock about being touched.

“Yes Twilight Sparkle, we are alive, for now..”

“What do you mean?” Twilight asked fearfully.

“Why do you think we are here Twilight Sparkle? We are not damsels in distress, nor princesses that get kidnapped on a daily basis.. we are rulers, strong and full of pride, and therefore we are targets of others who want us dead..”

“Or.. you are simply important to me..” came the deep voice of a stallion.

“Hello.. Fury Flight,” Luna said with hatred in her voice.

“Oh come sister, don't be like that..”

“Your no kin of mine.. my brother died long ago,” Luna said with a saddened tone.

“Wait, You're her brother!!!” Twilight exclaimed.

“I am, or rather, was…”

“Why… why are you doing this, and don't give us that balance speech,” Luna said as she opened her wings and stared down her brother.

Fury's body language changed, he was no longer the cocky and powerful villain, but a weak and broken soul.

“I wasn't always like this,” he said just barely over a whisper, “and I wasn't stained with this mark..” he said as he pointed to his cutie mark. “I was once a proud and noble prince, like you two, but then it all was taken from me..”

“By who?” Twilight asked, trying to figure out her enemy.

“The draconequi… they took my friends and my family… and turned them into monsters… and so, with a heavy heart, I banished them to a small dimension far from here.”

“Is that it? That's why you turned bad?” Twilight said with a little aggravation in her voice.

“No… but it was the beginning of my downfall..” he answered as he walked to the edge of the cell and looked in, “it was a dark day, and I was lost in more ways than one, when I heard a voice, calling to me from around a bend. When I followed, I found an orb of energy, brighter than the sun. It beckoned me to look within the cave behind it, where I would find what I was searching for..”

“And what might that of been?” Luna asked.

“Peace, and a way to undo my mistake…. when I entered, I found an alicorn within, with a broken horn. He told me that if I helped him fix his horn, he would give me my heart's greatest desire, and so I helped him. When I finished my work however, I was granted with this mark, and enough power to never make my mistake again..”

Twilight stood up and slowly walked to the edge of the cell and placed a hoof on one of the bars in front of Fury. “It sounds like you really needed a friend, and I would love to fill the position,” she said with a tear trickling down her cheek.

Fury began to smile, and placed his own hoof on a bar, opposite to Twilight's.

“Twilight Sparkle… I knew that you were important, but I always thought that Celestia held her spirit, but now,” he said as he began to cackle, “I see you clearly… Helia..”

“What? What do you mean?” Twilight asked fearfully, not really wanting the answer.

“What do I mean?” Fury said with another cackle, “has your life ever been too good, like everything just fell into place?”

“Well, n-now that you mention it, some of my life has happened that way, all by coincidence though,” Twilight answered squeamishly.

Fury now began to let out a full laugh, and stared at Twilight with piercing blue eyes. “Coincidence you say? There isn't such a thing… Helia..”

“Stop calling me that name, my name is Twilight Sparkle!”

“Maybe in this life, but you have lived countless lives over the years, waiting for me to return, haven't you Helia?” Fury said as he made a broad smile.

“I don't understand what you're talking about!!”

“Then allow me to explain,” Fury said as a small spark of magic popped from his horn and traveled to Twilight's. “A memory spell so to speak, to help you remember…”

Twilight's mind was flooded with images of times long forgotten, and memories she didn't know she had. All the memories brought her back to a point, where she saw an alicorn, bright green, and chaotic to the very core. “Caspian…” she whispered.

Luna began to look at Twilight with awe as she heard the name spoken. “Caspian the Chaotic, the chaos bringer… here..”

Fury began to laugh as he turned away from the cell and walked towards what appeared to be the front of the cave. “It would seem that I have finally won, my enemy is locked away, and I can finally attend to the rest of my plan!” He said as he began to laugh.

As he looked to the edge of the cave, he could make out the shadow of three coming to face him, to try and bring back harmony to his chaotic world…

A New Era

“For Equestria!!!” Discord yelled as he pulled out a sword made of feathers and charged the dark green alicorn on a whistling clone of Pinkie Pie.

As he drew near, Fury activated his magic and produced a shield of shoes. Discord stopped dead in his tracks in front of the shield and began to tickle the shoes, which began to sneeze and disappear.

Fury snarled as he then produced a large number one, which began to scream, “I am Smittyman Jensen!!! I am number one!!!” and then proceeded to throw smaller number ones at Discord, who called forth an umbrella to block the numbers hitting him.

“This is preposterous!!” Discord yelled as he snapped his fingers and now the numbers flew away as the large number one deflated like a balloon. “I am Discord, the master of chaos, the lord of lawlessness! I don’t have to put up with this!”

“Right you are Discord, but I am Caspian, the creator of all things chaotic, the Duke of disharmony, the lord of Laughter, and master of mishaps, and I will put you back into your place!” Fury said as he began to laugh insanely.

As he laughed, Fury began to shake and vibrate, as if he was having a seizure of some sort.

“Finally!!” Came a high pitched nasal voice. “I can finally take physical form!!!”

Fury collapsed to the floor as a faint image of a bright green alicorn came into reality. His wings shown as if they were made of gold, and his horn was broken at the base, but in its place was a banana.

The laughter grew louder as he gained physical form, slowly becoming one with the world around him. After he had achieved his former form, Caspian glanced around the cave at the ponies who stared at him with a hilarious fear of him.

He called upon his chaotic magic as the banana peeled back. The gravity in the cave was no more, and the ponies began to float around the room like heavy balloons, bouncing off from the ceiling and the walls of the cave. He used his magic to then change the temperature of the cave constantly, from freezing cold one second to searing heat the next. After this, he began to giggle as he changed the stone in the cave to soap. The now soaped ponies slid through the air as they hit the walls of the cave.

Discord snapped his fingers to stop the chaos, but his fingers deflated as the rest of him blew around like a popped balloon.

“We wouldn’t want to spoil the fun Discord!!” Caspian called to the deflating draconequus. He then turned to Starlight, who was trying to find her balance, but slipped on the ceiling and went flying towards the cage. He laughed as he looked towards the front of the cave, where his victory awaited him.

“Sorry to spoil the fun and leave, but victory awaits!” Caspian yelled as he charged towards the cave entrance, his banana horn peeling again and reversing the effects of his battle, the ponies and draconequus hitting the hard floor with a heavy thud.

Starlight looked out to the entrance, where the chaotic god was escaping to, but was called by a weak voice in the back.. Twilight. She turned her head to the purple alicorn, who had managed to free herself and Luna from their prison.

“Starlight…” Twilight said softly, barely above a whisper.

“Yeah Twilight,” Starlight said as she ran across the cave to meet her friend.

“I need you to do something for me,” she said, stressed.

“Anything Twilight,” Starlight replied, not aware of the burden she was about to hold.

“Tell my friends… that I love them, and I’m doing this for them…” Twilight said as she began to chase the chaotic Caspian.

“T-Twilight? Twilight! No!!” Starlight yelled as she began to chase her friend, but was stopped by the magic of Princess Luna. She fought the magic with all of her strength, but got no farther.

“Luna! Let me go! I have to stop Twilight!!!” She yelled, but the magic remained.

“Starlight… we all have our calling, our destiny… this is hers… let her go,” Luna said solemnly, her voice cracking as if said through tears.

“But what about the Elements, she is the Element of Magic, without her, Equestria is vulnerable!!” Starlight beckoned, hoping the princess would see reason.

“The Elements of Harmony will be passed down to new bearers, and the now vacant role of Princess of Friendship will be filled by a new pony… Twilight Sparkle will forever go down in history as one of the greatest ponies we have ever met…”

Caspian turned his head to see Twilight beside him, her horn glowing as both lifted off the ground, hovering a few feet above.

“You can’t trap me forever Helia!!!” Caspian roared as his banana peeled. The land around them beginning to fall away as lava boiled in its place. He then began to change the trees around the entire mountain into hideous creatures that pulled out their roots and began to terrorize the land around them. “I will not go back! I will not!!”

“Caspian… my oldest friend… come with me, back to the beginning, come home…” she whispered as her spell took effect and both began to fade away, becoming one with the next world. Twilight took a deep breath before she disappeared along with the screaming Caspian, into the Elysian Fields, where they would remain.

A rainbow began to crossover the sky, signaling the end of the battle. The ponies and Draconequus walked out of the cave’s entrance to see the extent of the damage, and saw a new world waiting for them.

“The beginning of a new era, the era of true harmony…” Luna said before turning to look at the pony who laid inside, but had disappeared. She sighed before looking out towards the country. “I hope one day you find peace brother…”

Starlight stood beside Trixie and Discord, looking at the spot where Twilight disappeared, her mind racing with her next task, telling the mane five about Twilight, and how the Elements has to be relinquished to new bearers. She caught a glimpse of a cloud passing by, one that looked strangely like Twilight, and some of her doubt eased as she took the first step to her new life, a life without her magic, and without one of her best friends.
