Starlight has been always thankful to Twilight for helping her out of her dark path she went down. But she felt like she needed to repay her so she decides to take her out to a friendly dinner. But what she doesn't take into her plan is that Twilight secretly loves her. And when they go on out to dinner Starlight begins to feel the same.

This is my second romance story with a different ship. Don't expect a sequel to this though. (Mainly because the one i did for my first romance story wasn't well received.)

Ever since Twilight saved her, Starlight felt like she needed to repay the Princess of friendship back somehow for all she has done to make her feel welcome.

When Starlight tried to stop the sonic rainboom from happening, she didn't think of the consequences of doing it. Until Twilight showed her one example of the future or present, possible from her actions and then helped her to gain friends when her first friend,Sun burst, left her due to his new cutie mark. That started off Starlight's redemption and she has been doing only good so far...well -mostly- good.

Starlight always noticed how hard Twilight worked to help her and do her own jobs at the same time. Starlight could tell Twilight was tired more often recently and Starlight wanted to rectify that. So one day when the two ponies completed a particularly hard spell that required two unicorns (or at least one alicorn in this instance), Starlight brought up her plan to treat Twilight.

"Excellent work Starlight! You've improved greatly from when we last tried to perform that spell" Twilight said, beaming with pride over her pupil's improvement.

Starlight responded, huffing and puffing in exhaustion. "Thanks...Twilight, I thought I was going to drop to the ground before we finished the last part" she blushed briefly "I technically did stumble a bit though" Starlight added.

Twilight smiled "It's doesn't matter, we completed the spell successfully, that's all that matters to me"

Starlight managed to give a response in her exhausted state "I'm glad that you are proud of me" Starlight returned her own smile.

But it became short lived when she remembered her plan "Oh Twilight, I wanted to offer something to you" Starlight said suddenly, slightly making Twilight flinch at the outburst.

"What would that be?" Twilight replied with curiosity laced in her words.

Starlight cleared her throat and explained her offer "Twilight, you have been incredibly busy for weeks and I feel like you need to take a load off. A break if you will. What I'm saying is... would you like to go out for dinner with me?" Twilight thought over the offer, she pondered if she had to do anything soon that needed to be done ASAP and found nothing of importance. Starlight added in before she could reply "This is also a thank you for helping me, with everything I mean" Starlight said rubbing a hoof and looking at any direction that didn't have Twilight in it.

When Twilight felt Starlight was finished speaking, she responded "I would love to go out for dinner with you Starlight. What time and where?" she queried her friend.

Starlight replied "About 7:00pm at the Moonlight Rose. I'll meet you there, I need to confirm my reservation. Is that fine?"

Twilight nodded in confirmation "Sure is, I'll be looking forward to it"

Starlight began to walk towards the door "Me too, I'm going to get everything set up." She suddenly turned around pointing a hoof at Twilight "AndYou need to go and rest till then"

Twilight tried to protest "B-But Starlight I still have stuff to do right now, I need to reorganize the left hand shelf in the Library and reshuffle the fiction from the non fiction in the third shelf down on the middle shelf and-" Starlight cutted her off.

"Twilight, you already did both of those tasks. Twice. And I can assure you whatever that third thing was. You most likely did it. Without thinking. So just please, go get some rest" Starlight argued.

Twilight looked at Starlight attempting to counter her argument, but fell short of anything to say.

Twilight eventually gave up and replied "Fine, I'll see you later" she said, a little deflated, before making her way out into the hall.

As she did, Starlight couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the childish way Twilight drooped her and walked away.

When Twilight arrived at her room she blushed, heavily. "Starlight wants to go out to dinner! With me!?" Twilight shouted to the empty room she resided in. Panic was strewn across her face as she wondered if she would be able to keep it cool when they went to dinner.

Twilight muttered to herself "How can I keep my feelings towards Starlight in check if she has offered to take me to dinner. Something ponies that are dating do. Also Moonlight Rose? Literally the place where love is created."

Moonlight Rose was an incredibly popular restaurant that was famous for many a pony getting into relationships with their dates. They had 5 proposals there in just 4 weeks! Starlight picked that place for them to go?

Twilight did look at the other reason as to why Starlight would of picked that place. It had good food. Since Twilight was a princess, Starlight probably wanted to pull out all the stocks and give her the best dining experience she could afford. Twilight felt bad now that she was letting Starlight pay for it all.

Twilight leaped onto her bed and groaned "Why did I have to fall for my pupil?" Twilight questioned herself.

She had always found Starlight attractive, but to have a crush on her was a completely different story to tell. Twilight adjusted herself from laying on her belly to laying on her back. "Maybe I could confess? But how would she react, happy? Shocked? Disgusted?" Twilight shivered at the last option, she definitely hoped that wouldn't happen.

After several more unpleasant thoughts, Twilight shook her head of the negativity and she grew a determined look "No, I'll tell Starlight how I feel about her. If she doesn't feel the same way, I'll let it be. I won't force her to love me, well that way"

Twilight was set, she knew what needed to be done now. But as she came to that conclusion she remembered what Starlight said 'And you need to go and rest till then' Twilight sighed, Starlight was right. She needed to rest.

Doing just that, Twilight got just a bit more comfortable and fell asleep with little resistance.

It was time for the dinner. Starlight was seated at her reserved table, waiting expectantly for Twilight to arrive. To Starlight this was a platonic dinner with her friend, but she still felt the need to look goodconsidering the restaurant was very high class, the increased appearance was mandatory so she decided to tie a bow into the dock of her tail and add one to the back of her mane. It was simple, yes, but it made Starlight feel more like she was out to dinner rather then going to a cafe for a chat.

A waiter came by the table for two and asked Starlight a question "Will the Princess be arriving soon. Miss Starlight?" he asked in a posh, Canterlot noble like, voice.

Starlight flicked her head over to where the waiter stood and replied "She should be here very soon, she is the type to be punctual" Starlight stated, smiling at Twilight's maddening desire to be on time, regardless of what she needed to be on time for.

Starlight turned back around and began to tap a hoof lightly on the table surface to sooth her growing impatient mood. But this soon depleted when she saw a lavender coated Alicorn "gracefully" land on the ground in front of the restaurant.

Twilight wasn't the type to pretty herself up very often, she'd do it if she had to, especially for something like the Grand galloping gala. But what perplexed Starlight was, why Twilight decided to do it for something like this?

She didn't wear a dress, but from what Starlight could see: she was wearing purple metal boots, like Celestia and Luna, that stood out with her matching purple eye shadow. She wore a silver necklace with a pink star hanging from the chain over her chest, a ribbon was entwined through her tail and lastly she wore her Princess crown.

Starlight was at a lost for words, she just looked wide eyed at Twilight as she got several bows from waiters and guests, who were standing up, as she trotted by over to the table where Starlight resided. Mouth agape.

'Perfect, exactly what I wanted her to do, maybe she'll start to get the idea I like her' Twilight thought. A waiter rushed over and moved the seat out for Twilight, to which Twilight thanked as she sat down smiling warmly at the beet red Starlight.

To be honest Twilight was exactly the same as Starlight at the moment, she just managed to mask it with a smile. That only elicited Starlight to blush more.

Starlight couldn't help but blush at the Princess. Twilight always had that hidden beauty charm, in which she appears pretty normal to most, but when she adds beauty into the mix. She becomes a different pony. Almost like how a superhero keeps there identity under a boring normal person.

"Twi-Twilight d-d-did you h-have to wear all...that?" Starlight said gesturing up and down at Twilight's current attire. The lavender pony in turn looked down at herself then smiled back at Starlight.

"Well this restaurant is known to be fancy Starlight and I am a princess. I have to set an example to others that I am one when I go out to such a place." Twilight stated.

Starlight had to admit she was right "Yeah, I guess"

Twilight giggled "Come on, let's order something."

Starlight agreed.

Several waiters rushed over at those words, all of them fighting to take an order for a princess. Although not long after the manager came by yelling at them to go back to their own waited tables and let the current waiter do our order, despite their protests. Starlight looked over the menu until she was satisfied with what she liked. "I'll have...the Arugula salad please" Starlight said. The waiter wrote it down on a small notepad then turned expectantly to Twilight.

"I'll probably go with the eggplant Parmigiana, thank you" Twilight spoke up, the waiter wrote it down and then asked if they wanted any drinks.

"Would you two be partial to any of our beverage list?" he said, still in a posh sounding voice.

"Starlight looked towards Twilight, who gave a shake of her head. "No, just some water for the table will be fine" Starlight said.

The waiter nodded before walking away to give the order to the chef.

As the two waited, silently. Twilight decided to break it suddenly to make their predicament less awkward " I have to thank you Starlight. I just now realise how busy I've been and now find a break like this...very much needed" she said softly.

Starlight smiled back "Like I said, you have been working too hard, hard enough to fall asleep at any moment in fact. But you need to see that while this dinner may be a one off thing, you getting more relaxation is something that needs to become the norm. Basically what I'm saying is, don't let this dinner be your only window for luxury, let it be the first of many windows" Starlight explained.

"Enough to fill a large house?" Twilight joked.

"Enough to fill a large house" Starlight repeated.

After more idle chat, the two friend's meals arrived. Twilight's mouth was watering at the smell of her food, although she wanted to see if Starlight had anything else to say before they started, but when she looked up at Starlight, she found that she had already dug in with much gusto for her salad. Twilight giggled lightly at Starlight's once more beet red face. "Well I guess I was hungrier than I thought" Starlight sheepishly said as she scratched the back of her head. Starlight felt odd, when she looked at Twilight now, she didn't see her book reading friend. She saw a beautiful pony that looked like she was on a date. With her.

Once their meals were in place, the friends dug in happily while engaging once more in simple chatter. The normal stuff: like how your day was, anything interesting to talk about or about joke or two they heard from a friend. It was a simple yet enjoyable time between friends, as close as friends can be that is.

As the night continued on, the sky started to twinkle with stars. With their meals finished, the Unicorn and the Alicorn were nearly ready to go, "So what happened after that?" Starlight asked Twilight as she told a bizarre story.

"Well, for the most part, Pinkie ended up luring the Scylla away with a large eight pronged stick skewered with mud cake. So yeah, that was Tuesday" Twilight replied.

"Wow, remind me to get Pinkie when I have a monster problem" Starlight asked.

Twilight responded "Noted"

As the two shared a chuckle, Starlight looked around at the few people still left in the Restaurant and said to Twilight "We should be going now"

Twilight went wide eyed "I...um...y-yeah we should" she spluttered. 'I need to tell her now' she thought.

"Starlight, I need to be serious with you now." Twilight stated.

Starlight stopped where she was and waited for Twilight to say something.

Twilight gulped nervously "I-I have to be real with you, I didn't just do all this to myself because I needed to 'set an example'. I did it to impress...you." she said her voice barely audible.

Starlight looked shocked "Why? Why would you prettier yourself...for me?" she asked in a confused but also blushing state.

Twilight came up closer to her unicorn friend, also blushing, and whispered "Because I love you"

Starlight blushed so much that her face would put the reddest of Tomatoes to shame.

Before Starlight could say anything Twilight kissed her passionately, on the lips. They stood like that for what felt like hours kissing in the Twilight and Star filled sky.

But as soon as it begun, it was over. Twilight coming down from her ecstatic behaviour, realised her action and blushed beyond normal blushing capabilities.

"I-I-I'm SORRY!" she yelled before galloping off into the night.

Starlight stood in place, she put a hoof to her lips and pondered what just happened, she said to no pony in particular "Twilight...loves me?"

Twilight ran. She kept on running and didn't look back. "Why did I have to go and openly...KISS her like that!" Twilight shouted. The lavender princess eventually came to a halt by a fountain, spewing water into its decorated basin. She rested upon the seat just in front of the fountain and sobbed freely, her tears pooled on the ground making a reflection for her to see and cry some more into.

'I'm stupid. So so stupid' Twilight thought 'I should of left it at my confession and then let her think from there. Not just go head first into a kiss!' Twilight wondered what Starlight was thinking now, did she like it? Did she hate it? She couldn't tell what to imagine Starlight would be thinking about now. But she didn't have to be in the dark for too long.

"Twilight!" a voice shouted.

Twilight perked her ear up, that voice was familiar to her.

Starlight bolted over to the fountain and sighed in relief "Twilight there you are, I wa- are you crying?" she asked.

Twilight just looked away, crying still. "Twilight what's wrong?" Starlight said, hesitating to trot on over and comfort the weeping princess.

Twilight blubbered a response amidst her sobbing "I-I didn't mean to k-kiss you back t-there. It w-was the h-heat of the moment!" she wailed.

Starlight now decided to comfort Twilight. She embraced her with both fore hooves and attempted to sooth Twilight of her crying. "Twilight, I don't care about you kissing me back at the restaurant. I think I've realised that your feelings for me are more than platonic... and because you did state straight out that you liked me that way" Starlight explained.

Twilight stopped her crying down to a few tears here and there. "Yes, it started a little while ago, but I kept them secret. I mean you don't feel the same do you?" Twilight asked.

Starlight said nothing for a moment.

Then she spoke up.

"I...um well you see. I do actually"

Twilight broke from the hug and looked at Starlight with a surprised expression and maybe a hint of joy.

"Well not at first, but after that dinner I kind of see you in a new light" Starlight continued.

A Star...light?" Twilight joked again, she was back to her normal self.

Starlight rolled her eyes "Really Twilight, you have to go with the bad puns now?"

Twilight grinned "Well it made me feel better, that's all I can ask it to do"

Starlight shook her head with a smile and returned to hugging Twilight. Twilight returned the embrace with eagerness.

"So?" Twilight asked

Starlight responded "So, what?"

"Do you want to try...us? In a relationship I mean" Twilight questioned.

Starlight looked up at the starry night sky and beamed.

"What do you think?"
