Hearth's Warming Eve~

"Oh goodness, Angel! I'm a mess," said Fluttershy, as she hastily set up some decorations around the cottage. Over the fireplace, lay two stockings, with the names Angel and Fluttershy. Both were red, except Angel's had a blue ribbon while Fluttershy's was pink. "Discord will be here any second!"

"Why do you want that dishrag to come here?" asked Angel.

"Angel! He is not a dishrag," Fluttershy scolded. A knock on the door sounded, and her ears perked up. "Oh, here he is!"

"Go get your coltfriend," said Angel, rolling his eyes, and leaping on the couch. "I'm not giving up this couch today." Fluttershy turned bright red.

"Um, he's not my coltfriend," said Fluttershy. "But I-" Another knock, except this time it was louder. She rushed to the door, and opened it, and smiled. "Oh my, I'm sorry for taking so long, Di-" But it wasn't Discord. It was Rainbow.

"'Sup Flutters, may I come in?" asked Rainbow.

"O-Oh, what a nice surprise," said Fluttershy. She was pretty disappointed it wasn't Discord. "Come on in, would you like some hot chocolate?"

"Some of that sounds good. I'm freezing!" said Rainbow. Fluttershy went out into the kitchen, and she set the kettle on, adding some cocoa powder inside. She headed back into the living room, to see Rainbow sitting next to Angel.

"What brings you here? Sorry to ask, sorry if I'm rude," said Fluttershy. Rainbow rolled her eyes.

"Well, I wanted to let you know us pegasus ponies of the weather team scheduled one heck of a snow storm tonight! Request from Twilight to make it super white for Hearth's Warming," said Rainbow.

"Okay, thanks for the warning. Now I know to let some animals in tonight," said Fluttershy. The kettle whistled. "I better get that." A few minutes later, she came out with two mugs of hot chocolate. Rainbow took it, and drank.

"I needed that," Rainbow said. The cup was half full now. "Here, I have a present for you, since I'm going to be with some friends on the Wonderbolts for Hearth's Warming." She untucked her wing, and revealed a wrapped box.

"Aw, thanks, let me get your present," said Fluttershy, quickly rummaging through a pile of presents in the corner, until she came across the one that read 'Rainbow Dash'. She handed it to Rainbow, and took her own. "Thank you for the present." She ripped it open, and she smiled as she saw it was a little fox plush. "It's adorable!" Fluttershy hugged it to her chest.

"And this is awesome!" exclaimed Rainbow, pulling a golden pendant with the pattern of her cutie mark in silver. She walked over and hugged Fluttershy. "This is absolutely amazing! Thank you, Fluttershy."

"Your welcome," replied Fluttershy, smiling.

"Well, I better get going," said Rainbow, glancing at the clock above the fireplace. "If I want to get all my gifts to my friends and get to the Wonderbolts on time, I better go. Thanks for the cocoa and the awesome pendant." She walked to the door, after taking one last drink of the cocoa.

"Goodbye, Rainbow," said Fluttershy, waving. Rainbow waved back, and she was gone, back outside in the cold weather.

"Disappointed that is wasn't your coltfriend?" asked Angel.

"H-He isn't my coltfriend, I already told you," said Fluttershy, turning red yet again.

"Aw, I thought we had something special," pouted a new voice from behind Fluttershy.

"Discord!" exclaimed Fluttershy, whipping around, and hugging Discord. "I missed you so much!" Discord smiled, and he looked slightly pink in the firelight.

"I missed you too," said Discord. "Now, for your first present of thirteen." He handed her a checkered box, which was surprisingly small.

"Oh, I didn't have anything for you today," said Fluttershy, guiltily.

"That's fine. You having me here is the best present I could ever ask for," said Discord. Fluttershy smiled. She opened the box, and inside shone a silver butterfly necklace.

"Oh my Celestia, it's beautiful," gawked Fluttershy.

"Allow me," said Discord. He took the necklace out of its case, and put it around her neck. Fluttershy was soothed by his paw and claw grazing on her neck. She didn't realize she was leaning on his paw until he laughed. "Getting comfortable, are we?" Fluttershy turned even redder.

"O-Oh! I'm sorry," said Fluttershy quickly, getting off his paw. Discord frowned for a moment. "Would you like some hot chocolate? I have extra, and it's still warm."

"That would be great, my dear," replied Discord. Fluttershy gave him one last smile, and went into the kitchen. What was she going to do? She didn't have a present. Even though Discord said having her over was good enough, Fluttershy still felt guilty. She had a few presents for Hearth's Warming day, not eve! She started breathing quickly, until she thought of something to do. Fluttershy blushed at the thought, but it was the least she could do. She grabbed the mug of hot chocolate, and blew on it, and went back to Discord.

"It's nice and hot," said Fluttershy. Discord took a sip.

"It's delicious," commented Discord.

"I'm glad you like it," said Fluttershy. "And by the way, I do have a present for you."

"Do you now?" asked Discord, raising an eyebrow. Fluttershy smiled, leaning up, and gave him a peck on the cheek.

"Happy Hearth's Warming Eve," said Fluttershy, giggling giddily, and sitting in a chair. She blushed, and stared into the fire, leaving the dumbstruck draconequus to think about what happened.

Hearth's Warming Day 1~

Discord was confused. Why did Fluttershy kiss him of all ponies? Discord shrugged. It was all she could do. He got her a present, and she kissed him to return a present. Though, the thought saddened Discord as he realized it was only a gift, nothing more. She obviously didn't like him like that.

Discord heard a soft humming as hoofsteps sounded in the hallway. He had fallen asleep on the couch. Fluttershy walked in, and smiled at Discord, her cheeks tinged with pink.

"Good morning, Discord," said Fluttershy in a sing song voice. "Happy Hearth's Warming!"

"H-Happy Hearth's Warming," repeated Discord. "My first Hearth's Warming out of stone."

"I'm glad you decided to spend it with me, even though I'm nothing much," said Fluttershy. She had a soft, warm smile on her face that made Discord want to scoop her in his arms and hug her tightly.

"Nothing much? That is the biggest lie I have ever heard. Applejack would be ashamed," said Discord, faking disappointment. "You are everything to me, my dear."

"Oh, my," said Fluttershy, who smiled as she turned bright red. "T-Thanks for saying that. It was the kindest thing I have ever heard."

"What would you like for breakfast?" asked Discord, clapping his paw and claw together.

"W-What? I should be asking you that question! Oh, I'm such a bad hostess," said Fluttershy.

"You're perfect," said Discord, and his face turned pink as he said that. "I mean, you're a perfect hostess. I just want to make breakfast on Hearth's Warming for my... For my friend."

"Okay," said Fluttershy.

"Pancakes with caramel on top?" Discord offered, and Fluttershy's eyes widened.

"M-My favorite," said Fluttershy wistfully. "How did you know?"

"I, er, listened in on a conversation?"

"Oh well, that's fine if it was for a good cause," said Fluttershy, shrugging her shoulders.

"My treat," said Discord. He snapped his talons, and the room transformed. The area was covered in snow, but was warm to touch. Discord made the snow out of vanilla. There was a candy cane table in the center, with a Hearth's Warming tree growing out, with ornaments of Fluttershy and Discord's moments together, with a bright, golden star on top. Animals hopped everywhere, eating the vanilla. On the table lay two plates with pancakes drenched with caramel with a single piece of chocolate on top.

"I-It's beautiful," said Fluttershy.

"Glad you like it," said Discord. Fluttershy walked toward the table, running her hoof over the candy surface, and giving it a lick. She smiled, radiating a warm glow. Discord teleported into one of the seats at the table. "Let's dig in!" Fluttershy sat across from him. Discord gave her a sly smile, and snapped his talons. Fluttershy gasped as a red coat with fluffy ,white, cloudlike edges formed around her, and a piece of holly stuck behind her ear.

"Discord, this is very nice," said Fluttershy, blushing slightly.

"Glad you like it," said Discord. It definitely looked good on her. Fluttershy picked up a fork, make of hard candy, and took a bite out of her breakfast. She smiled contently, and Discord forgot about his own food.

"Are you not hungry?" asked Fluttershy, setting down her fork.

"Oh! I'm hungry all right," replied Discord. He quickly took a few bites from the cakes on his plate, and savored the flavor. Fluttershy giggled, and went back to her own food.

They ate for what felt like ages to Discord, and he was bored. Finally, Fluttershy was finished, and he could finally make her do something actually fun.

"So, do you like ice skating?" asked Discord.

"I-Ice S-Skating?" stammered Fluttershy, her ears flat on her head. "Um, Discord, I don't really think-"

"Great news!" interrupted Discord. He grabbed her hoof, making them both blush. "Let's go!" He teleported them to a lake by the outskirts of Ponyville, which was frozen over. The grass was a pale yellow. "So, what hoof size ya wear?"

"Um..."

"Done!" Discord snapped his fingers, and Fluttershy had four ice skates on, and she was on the ice. Fluttershy's hooves slid all over the place, but Discord, just in time, caught her. "Ah, ah, ah, no falling!" Discord tutted, and clapped his paw and claw together, momentarily letting go of Fluttershy. "Let me show you. Sit down." Fluttershy didn't need to be told twice. The ice was probably cold, but she sat anyway. Discord smiled, and started moving his hind legs. He glided across the ice, with barely any effort. "Just keep going, left, right, left, right, left, right." Discord twirled on the ice. "And soon you will be a pro!"

"I don't think I will be very good," said Fluttershy, hiding behind her mane.

"No excuses!" Discord dragged her across, making her squeak. He smiled. "Come on, move your hooves! One side at a time. Left, right, left, right." Fluttershy started moving her hooves.

"Left, right, left, right, left, right..." muttered Fluttershy. Soon, she was gliding across the ice, Discord still holding onto her abdomen. "Discord, this is so fun!"

"I knew you would like it," said Discord. "I'm going to let go."

"W-What?! No," pleaded Fluttershy, turning her head to face Discord.

"If you remember what to do, you will be fine," assured Discord. "Three, twoone!" His paw and claw released Fluttershy, and she sqeaked.

"Ah, ah," Fluttershy made her legs sturdy, and stopped. She moved her left hooves, and her right. She muttered under her breath, words Discord couldn't hear. He smiled as she picked up the pace, and smiled. "Woo!" She glided past Discord.

"Hey, wait up!" called Discord, following after her.

"You can't catch me!" said Fluttershy, laughing merrily. She squeaked as she realized she was getting too close to the edge. She looked in fright at Discord, her eyes begging for help.

"Point your toes inwards!" cried out Discord as he caught on.

"Ah!" screamed Fluttershy, and she plopped on the grass. Her red coat was ruffled. Discord teleported over to her, and he noticed her nose was pink.

"I think we had enough ice skating for today," said Discord. "How about some hot chocolate, and maybe a few gifts to exchange?"

"I-I think that sounds nice," replied Fluttershy.

They sat by the fire, with mugs of hot chocolate in their hooves/claws. Discord had a feeling of contentment, which was strange for just sitting so still. Fluttershy gazed into the firelight, and Discord couldn't help but admire how beautiful her eyes were as they reflected the fire. A soft smile was etched on her lips, and Discord wondered what they would taste like if he were to kiss them. But doing something like that would probably ruin their friendship.

Discord stretched, and fell back on the couch, flashing his cup of hot chocolate onto the table. Fluttershy glanced over to him, and gave him a giant smile.

"Are you about ready for present time?" asked Fluttershy.

"Never thought you'd ask," replied Discord. He put his paw behind his back, and conjured a present she was sure to love. He made sure there were holes in it. Fluttershy walked to the corner of the room, where a pile of presents were, and took out a plain blue box.

"Sorry if it isn't chaotic enough," said Fluttershy.

"My dear, anything from you is perfect, chaotic or not," replied Discord. He handed her his gift, while Fluttershy handed Discord the blue box. Discord ripped it open eagerly, and smiled as he saw a nice, pale blue sweater checkered with hot pink. "My, this is chaotic enough!" Discord snapped his talons, and the sweater appeared on him. Fluttershy lifted up her present, and almost dropped it as a small squeak came from inside. She opened the box, and saw a small puppy. His ears were floppy, and his fur was pitch black, with a light pink nose.

"Woof!" said the puppy.

"Aw, he's adorable," said Fluttershy, stroking his head, and giggling as he licked her hoof. "I think I will call him... Ace." The puppy licked her nose. "Thank you Discord." She set the puppy on the floor, who rolled onto his back, whining for a belly rub. She gave him a few strokes on his belly, and came over to Discord, and hugged him. "This will be a nice twelve days of Hearth's Warming. Happy Hearth's Warming." She nuzzled Discord, and he blushed.

"Happy... Hearth's Warming, Fluttershy," said Discord.

"I'm happy to spend it with a friend," said Fluttershy. Discord frowned. He had hoped they could become more, but he had to take it slow. It was, a happy Hearth's Warming.

Hearth's Warming Day 2~

Fluttershy yawned, her eyes fluttering open. She sighed in content. Yesterday was the best Hearth's Warming she had yet. But, she didn't remember when she went to bed.

Her eyes widened as a small sigh escaped from Discord as he nuzzled into her mane. Fluttershy blushed a deep crimson. She had fallen asleep and Discord was cuddling with her! Fluttershy's breathing quickened, and she wondered what to do. Her mind ran through possible ideas, but all of them would wake up Discord, and she would have to face the embarrassment.

Since nothing worked, she decided she was just going to stay. It was only the crack of dawn. Through the window came a shadow, showing a flurry of little specks racing down, and Fluttershy realized it was probably the snow storm Rainbow had told her about. Fluttershy nuzzled Discord's cheek, and went back to sleep.

Fluttershy woke again to a small chuckle.

"Hmm?" Fluttershy blinked groggily, and looked up at Discord, who had a smirk on his face.

"You are so adorable when you sleep," said Discord. Fluttershy felt like her face might explode. Discord's expression went to total shock as he realized he said that out loud. "Oh! Oh, Fluttershy, sor-" He trailed off as Fluttershy let out a small giggle.

"Thank you for the compliment," said Fluttershy daringly. Her face was still red. "You look very hoofsome when you sleep." She leaned up, and nuzzled him on the cheek. "Now, excuse me. I need to make sure I have a few things set." Discord's eyes widened in bewilderment.

"My dear, someone is brave today," said Discord. "Was it because you slept with the Lord of Chaos?" Both of them turned bright red as he said that. "Oh, gosh. That came out wrong."

"It really did, no offense," said Fluttershy.

"Well, same thing for breakfast?" asked Discord.

"I was thinking some buttered toast and tea, but whatever you want is fine," said Fluttershy.

"Buttered toast it is!" exclaimed Discord, snapping his talons, and a new surrounding formed. They were in a snowy forest, except this time the snow was frozen marshmallow. A table rested in the middle of a tree, made from spruce wood, and Discord teleported them to it. "Like it?"

"It's wonderful!" said Fluttershy, smiling eagerly, taking some marshmallow in her hoof, and ate it slowly. "Marshmallow is delicious."

"I know," said Discord. He summoned two plates of toast, with butter in the center of the table.

It was the second day of Hearth's Warming, and Fluttershy had a small idea of what to do. It wouldn't take very long, like the idea of ice skating was with Discord.

"Hey, Discord, I have an idea of what we can do," said Fluttershy. The living room was back to normal, and Discord had his legs on top of the arms.

"What is that, my dear?" asked Discord.

"Perhaps... Perhaps we can make a snowpony," said Fluttershy. She recoiled in fear. "I-I'm sorry if it's a bad idea! I thought you would like to since it's snowing."

"It's amazing. I can wear that new sweater you got me!" said Discord. He snapped his talons, and the sweater was on him. Fluttershy blushed, thinking he looked hoofsome. She knew where that thought came from. What she wanted most these twelve days of Hearth's Warming was a kiss from Discord. But alas, Discord would never give her of all ponies one. He probably thought Twilight or Celestia was pretty, and wanted to date one of them. Fluttershy pushed the negative thoughts away, and smiled.

"Okay," they went outside, and Discord flopped down on the snow. Fluttershy gasped. "Oh my Celestia! Are you okay, Discord?" Discord laughed loudly.

"Better than okay! There is like two feet of snow here!" Discord said. "Come on out. Oh! You can't be out here like that." He snapped his talons, and Fluttershy wore a mint green sweater with white ear muffs. Her hooves had matching white snow boots.

"Discord, you're getting me a new Hearth's Warming wardrobe!" giggled Fluttershy.

"Well, you mares like your clothes," said Discord. "Or is it just Rarity?"

"All of us like them," confirmed Fluttershy. "Thank you, again."

"Well, enough of talking about presents, and let's get building!" said Discord. Fluttershy gave him a smile, and they set to work. Fluttershy started digging into the snow, patting it into a ball. She started rolling it until it was up to the top of her legs. She grunted as she tried to push it further. A flash appeared beside her.

"Allow me," said Discord, and Fluttershy let go. Discord shoved the snowball with barely any effort, and set it in the middle of the yard. "Hmm... This doesn't look like a snowpony body!"

"Oh, um, that was just the way I was taught to make it," said Fluttershy, her muzzle reddening.

"Alright, I can fix this," Discord snapped his talons, and the perfect shape of a pony (except with little bumps of snow) appeared. "Voila!"

"Discord, that's amazing!" exclaimed Fluttershy, raising her hoof to her face. "Now, let's make the head." She gathered more snow, and rolled a smaller ball, that Fluttershy was able to push. She rolled it to the snowpony, and set it on the head.

"I'll make the ears," said Discord, grabbing snow himself, and it magically formed into two pony-like ears. Fluttershy grabbed the same amout of snow, and formed a muzzle, which looked surprisingly realistic. She set it on the snowpony. The ears flashed on top of the snowpony.

"This looks amazing!" exclaimed Fluttershy. "Now all we need are the eyes."

"And while you find some, I will make a mane and tail," said Discord.

"A mane and tail?" Fluttershy tilted her head in confusion.

"Pfft, well, of course! This pony can't be bald!" said Discord, shaking his head. "Go on." Fluttershy decided not to push it further, and went by her house where a patch of rocks lay. The snow crunched under her hooves as she lifted two, perfect rocks up. She tucked them behind her wings. When she got back to Discord, he had a mane and tail on the pony. Fluttershy gawked as she realized it looked familiar.

"It looks like me," said Fluttershy. Discord gave a small chuckle.

"Well, it's not as beautiful as the original," said Discord. Fluttershy blushed, causing Discord to chuckle again. "Here, let me help you with the eyes." He lifted her up by the hips, making her turn redder. Fluttershy put one eye on, and as she put the other on, Discord's paw went on top of her hoof. "We have to line it perfectly." He guided her hoof if she went a bit off, until they finally set it down. "For a final touch." He snapped his talons, and two balls of snow formed into pegasus wings. Discord set it on the snowpony, and it was complete.

"What should we name her?" asked Fluttershy.

"Fluttersnow," said Discord. Fluttershy smiled.

"That's a perfect name," said Fluttershy.

"And look," Discord snapped his talons, and Fluttersnow gave Fluttershy a small wave. Fluttershy giggled. Suddenly, a flash appeared in front of Discord. "A letter..." He opened it, and groaned.

"What is it?" asked Fluttershy.

"Princess Twilight wants me to set up a Yule Ball for the fifth day of Hearth's Warming," replied Discord, rolling his eyes. "So, sadly I won't be here tomorrow."

"Oh," said Fluttershy, forgetting to hide the disappointment in her voice. She looked down and away. Discord lifted her chin, smirking.

"It also says that I have to go to the ball," said Discord. "And so do you. I will dance with you if you want." Fluttershy smiled.

"That would be perfect," said Fluttershy. She shivered.

"Well, it's starting to get late. How about we have some dinner, shall we?" asked Discord, leading Fluttershy back to the cottage.

Hearth's Warming Day 3~

It was the third day of Hearth's Warming! Discord was miserable. He had been looking forward to spending all twelve days with Fluttershy, but no, Twilight Sparkle needed him for a Yule Ball. Now, he stood at the door of the castle, having a staring contest with the purple alicorn.

"Why couldn't you have your friend Pinkie Pie help you?" asked Discord, a pout on his face.

"Oh, she's here, but Pinkie said that even this is too big of a party to put together alone," said Twilight. "And your chaotic magic can make things run more smoothly. Plus, I doubt you have anything to do for Hearth's Warming." Ouch. The 'princess of friendship' can say pretty cold things.

"Well, I happened to be having some happy times with my dear best friend, Fluttershy," said Discord.

Twilight blinked. "What were you doing at her cottage?"

"I was merely having a wonderful first Hearth's Warming," said Discord. "Which was interrupted by somepony." Twilight rolled her eyes.

"Right... So, the Yule Ball is going to be by the gazebo at Sweet Apple Acres... I want you to triple the size of the gazebo and..." Discord zoned out. He thought of Fluttershy. What was she doing? Was she with any other friends? Stallions? Discord's mind grew angry. Wait a second. Since when did he care about other stallions being around her? Fluttershy was his friend, and if she was interested in anypony else, he shouldn't care. But he did. He had to accept nopony would be interested in loving him, of all ponies. With his past, and his looks, there was no doubt all he could ever have are friends, or nothing.

"Discord!" shouted Twilight. Discord snapped back into reality.

"Y-Yes?" stammered Discord, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment.

"Did you hear anything I said?" asked Twilight.

"Nope," said Discord.

Twilight sighed, and rolled her eyes. "That's alright. I made a list just in case you were to forget, or zone out. Now, please, be good for Pinkie." Discord scoffed.

"Well, fine!" he teleported away, to the edge of Sweet Apple Acres. "Hello? Pinkie!"

'Hi Discord!" exclaimed Pinkie, appearing right in front of Discord's face. "Happy Hearth's Warming! Let's get this party started!" She pulled out a party cannon, and it exploded confetti everywhere.

"Uh.."

"Don't just stand there! Decorate!" Pinkie pulled out a bunch of items. Deflated blue, white, green, red, gold, and silver balloons sprawled around. Sparkling blue streamers lay in a pile. "Let's start with these." Discord opened the list, and saw the first step. Expand the gazebo. He did so, and it was larger than before, probably able to have twenty ponies in at a time for a lot of room to be left. Pinkie immediately started blowing up the balloons, and put them everywhere. Discord was bored. He could not follow this list!

"I have a pretty good idea how to make this perfect," said Discord. He had the image of Fluttershy in the snow yesterday, and knew exactly how to set this up.

Fluttershy was miserable. It was very lonely being alone on the third day of Hearth's Warming. All of her animals, even Angel, were either hibernating or spending time with their families. She really was happy for them, but she needed somepony to talk to and have fun.

Fluttershy had to admit it to herself. She was in love with Discord, and missed his company, even though he was only gone for a day. She only realized she loved him this Hearth's Warming. But surely, he would never feel the same about a wimpy pegasus like herself. As she thought, there was a knock on the door. Fluttershy's ears pricked up.

"Coming!" she called, and stood up, stretching. Could it be Discord? That question was ruled out as soon as she thought about it. No way Discord could be done with helping that fast, considering how nice and unchaotic it would have to be. Fluttershy walked over to the door, and Rainbow Dash and Soarin were there.

"Hey, Fluttershy!" exclaimed Rainbow. "Soarin and I stopped by to see if you want to come to lunch with us." Fluttershy smiled. She could enjoy the day with her best friend, and the new stallion.

"Alright, and hello Soarin, Rainbow told me much about you," said Fluttershy, giving a polite smile.

"Did she now?" asked Soarin, giving Rainbow a knowing glance. Rainbow gave him a small blush.

"We have something to tell you at lunch," said Rainbow.

"You two are dating," said Fluttershy, giving them a triumphant smile. Rainbow Dash nearly fainted, and Soarin's jaw hung low.

"H-How did you know?" asked Rainbow.

"It's kind of obvious, really," said Fluttershy. "The way you have been talking about him, no offense." They left it at that, and started flying to lunch, laughing as they spoke. Soon, they reached the nicest restaurant in the town.

"Wow, 'Bonnes Nuits'. Never knew you were romantic," said Fluttershy.

"Blame Soarin. He picked the place," said Rainbow, pointing her hoof at her coltfriend. Soarin playfully shoved her on the shoulder. Fluttershy sighed blissfully as she wondered if she could be like this with Discord one day. "Well, let's go in and eat!"

"Oh my Celestia!" exclaimed Twilight, her jaw hanging to the ground. "This... This is amazing!" Pinkie bounced where she was standing.

"Isn't it? Discord made the funnest party in Equestria!" said Pinkie, hopping about everywhere.

"And still elegant, and boring," huffed Discord. "Can I go now?" Twilight gave a small chuckle.

"You wouldn't want to keep Fluttershy waiting any longer," said Twilight, and she winked. Discord turned bright red as he realized Twilight knew of his feelings.

"Er, uh, yeah," said Discord. "Arrivederci!" He teleported away, to above Ponyville. He sighed, looking at all the merry couples. He wanted to be loved like that one day. He had one mare in mind. Discord had a small hope, with some signs that Fluttershy felt the same way he did about her. Then, a familiar giggle erupted in the nicest restaurant in town.

"What's Fluttershy doing here?" asked Discord. He looked in one of the windows of the restaurant, and his heart stopped cold. Fluttershy was sitting there, laughing with a baby blue colt with a dark blue mane. Discord recongnized him from one of Rainbow's posters. He didn't notice the rainbow tail vanishing into the restroom.

The stallion was named Soarin, one of the famous Wonderbolts. Discord growled. Fluttershy and Soarin, laughing together, in the nicest place to eat. This could only mean... Fluttershy was dating a stallion. Discord's eyes narrowed on the stallion. He was about to snap his talons, and make the stallion regret coming to lunch with his Fluttershy. But before he snapped, the stallion, he realized, made Fluttershy happy, by the laughter that sounded from her. Discord's gaze softened. Fluttershy was in love. Discord loved her, and he wanted her to be happy. And, she was happy with another stallion. Discord's face fell, as he realized he had lost her. Maybe she was waiting for him to be gone to spend time with Soarin.

Wait. If she truly cared about him, she would have told him of her care for this stallion. Yet, she did not. Fluttershy was not his true friend. He was going to confront her when she returned to the cottage. Discord snapped his talons, and he crossed his legs on the couch as he appeared, his angry gaze blankly staring ahead at nothing.

Fluttershy smiled at Rainbow and Soarin as she reached the door.
Was

"Bye, Fluttershy! It was nice to meet you," said Soarin, waving. He turned and gave Rainbow a peck on the cheek.

"Thanks for bringing me with you," said Fluttershy. She opened the door, and stepped inside.

"So, finally home," growled Discord. Fluttershy gasped and smiled as she saw him.

"Discord!" exclaimed Fluttershy, flying over top hug him. But, Discord's paw stopped her as he rested it on her chest, pushing her away roughly. She gasped. "D-Discord? W-What's wrong?"

"What's wrong?" Discord chuckled. "What's wrong is that you had an affair with a stallion, and you didn't bother to tell me."

"An affair.." Fluttershy gasped as it clicked in her mind. "Oh no! I don't have-"

"Don't! Lie! To me," hissed Discord. Fluttershy recoiled in fear.

"Discord, listen to me," said Fluttershy.

"No! After the way you decided to hide things from me, I find no meaning of your words," said Discord. Fluttershy felt tears in the corners of her eyes. "True friends tell their friends if they have an affair."

"Discord, please..." whimpered Fluttershy.

"No, I'm leaving. Happy Hearth's Warming," said Discord, though the last words he spat out like acid. He raised his talons, until Fluttershy angrily grabbed his arm.

"You're not leaving," said Fluttershy, fire dancing in her eyes. "At least, not until you let me explain." Discord rolled his eyes, and lowered his arm.

"Whatever," said Discord. "Make this quick. Think I'll just see Celestia." He had stabbed a knife in Fluttershy's heart with those words. So, he was interested in the Princess of the Sun. Fluttershy understood, though her heart was broken.

"Well, I'm not dating Soarin," started Fluttershy, and Discord's mouth opened in a reply. But, Fluttershy didn't let him speak. "Soarin is dating Rainbow Dash. The couple had stopped by here to invite me to lunch."

"But I didn't see Rainbow," said Discord, folding his arms.

"You probably saw us when Rainbow went to use the restroom," said Fluttershy. "Now please, I only see Soarin as a friend, and he certainly isn't my type." Discord's face shone with guilt.

"O-Oh, I'm sorry, my dear," said Discord. "I probably ruined the day."

"No, you didn't," replied Fluttershy. "But please ask me before assuming something." Discord nodded.

"So, how about some hot chocolate?" asked Discord. Fluttershy nodded.

Hearth's Warming Day 4~

Discord waited, bored, for Fluttershy to come out of her room. She currently was asleep. Didn't she know it was nine thirty in the morning? Discord groaned, slumping into the couch. He had an idea to wake Fluttershy up. He snapped his talons, appearing right before Fluttershy's door. He opened it a crack, and smirked. There was a giant lump in the middle of the bed, which slowly moved up and down. Small bits of pink locks came from the covers, and Discord wanted nothing more than to stroke them, but that would wake Fluttershy. Discord decided to get what he came to do over with before he did something he would regret later.

Discord snapped his talons, and a plate decorated with holly and had some toast and waffles with a bottle of syrup on the side appeared on a drawer beside the bed. Discord had enchanted them to still be warm no matter how long it would be for Fluttershy to wake up. He snapped his talons again, and the food was taken care of for the animals. Discord decided he would take the rest of the morning to rest.

A few hours later, Discord's eyes blinked open, and he summoned a clock. Eleven thirty seven. Fluttershy was nowhere to be seen, but Discord heard a few moans coming from the room across the cottage.

Discord instantly teleported to the door, and knocked.

"Fluttershy, is everything alright?" asked Discord, opening the door a crack. His breath caught as he saw the state Fluttershy was in. Black bags were under her eyes, her nose crusty from snot, and her cheeks lined with tear stains. Discord swooped over to her, and took her in his arms. "My dear Fluttershy, what seems to be wrong?"

"I-I don't want to talk about it," said Fluttershy, shivering. Discord blinked a few times.

"Very well," said Discord. "You're food will be warm all day. I enchanted it. Also, I fed your animals."

"Thank you, Discord," said Fluttershy, smiling warmly, despite her tired and miserable state.

"I will just go now," said Discord. He chuckled nervously, as he moved away from Fluttershy.

"Wait, can you stay? I had a nightmare," said Fluttershy. Discord paused, surprised. A blush rose to his face, and he realized Fluttershy was very red as well.

"Okay, just because you had a nightmare," said Discord. He wanted to say,'Because I love you and always wanted to do this' but that would be strange, even for him, and would ruin their friendship, though Discord wanted it to be more. He curled around Fluttershy protectively, determined to keep her from the nightmares to haunt her night. Discord snapped his tail feathers, and the blankets grew red and green.

"Sorry, had to do it, so we get some Hearth's Warming," said Discord.

"It's alright," said Fluttershy sleepily. "Just remember to... to change them back." She yawned, and took in a deep breath. Discord's muzzle tinged red. She was asleep in seconds.

"Sweet dreams," said Discord. "Happy Hearth's Warming, my love." He set his head down, and fell asleep himself.

He woke up to Fluttershy shivering against him. Discord's eyes widened, and he looked down to her.

"My dear, are you cold?" asked Discord. He was surprised. The blanket was very thick, and Discord didn't feel any cold. Fluttershy didn't open her eyes, but nodded.

"Yes, It's very cold," said Fluttershy. Discord grunted, and summoned a light blanket, and Fluttershy yelped. "Now it's too warm... I'm sorry, Discord." Discord sighed.

"It's alright," said Discord, when a strange scent washed over his senses. "My dear, are you feeling alright?"

"N-No, but you don't need to make a fuss over me," said Fluttershy.

"But I do, you're my... friend, and I need to look after you," replied Discord stubbornly. "Would you like some tomato soup? Something warm in the inside always makes me feel better."

"Thanks, Discord. You are very sweet," said Fluttershy as she sleepily smiled up at him. Discord wastes no time, and summons a stand over Fluttershy after teleporting her to sit up on the wall at the edge of the bed. He snapped his talons again, and a reddish orange soup appears in front of her with a colorful spoon with different designs all over it.

"Eat it while it's hot," said Discord, but chuckles after. "Oh wait, I cast an heating spell over it. It won't ever get cold, but still eat it." Fluttershy smiled, letting out a giggle that sounded like a strained wheeze.

"Oh, it's delicious!" exclaimed Fluttershy, taking in a spoonful. Then, she frowns. "Wait, I was just thinking about it. I might not be able to go to the Yule Ball tomorrow!" Discord frowns as well, but he covered it up with a smile.

"I don't care about some stupid fru-fru ball when my friend needs my help," replied Discord. "So, it's fine if you can't go. Plus, I bet you will be all better soon."

"I hope so," sighed Fluttershy wistfully. "We could have had fun today, but I got sick."

"Nonsense," said Discord. "I'm having fun. Er, not because you're sick, but because we can talk." Fluttershy lets out her wheeze-giggle.

"Thank you," said Fluttershy. She ate the rest of her soup hungrily, yet politely. She yawns. "Discord, that was an amazing soup. But now, I'm a little... Tired." She yawned before being able to say 'tired'. Discord smirked.

"Let's get you to bed, then," said Discord. He snapped his talons, and the stand and bowl were gone. Fluttershy was teleported under the covers, and Discord wrapped around her, ignoring the growing heat in his cheeks. He glanced at Fluttershy's face, which is red. Probably because she was sick. "Goodnight, Fluttershy."

"Goodnight, Discord," said Fluttershy back. They drifted off to sleep.

Hearth's Warming Day 5~

Fluttershy yawned, her eyes fluttering open. Her vision was blurry, but cleared up as she blinked. She felt great. Whatever Discord put in the soup made her sickness go away. Suddenly, Discord sighed, who was curled around her. Fluttershy blushed. Did they fall asleep-again- together like this?! Fluttershy hoped nopony saw them because this would be pretty much a scandal. Then, she remembered she didn't have any windows in her bedroom, due to fear.

Discord's eyes were closed, and Fluttershy assumed he was still asleep. Hopefully he was, or Fluttershy would die of embarrassment. She raised her head, and kissed him on the cheek, lingering for a few moments. She laid her head, now brighter red, back on her pillow. Fluttershy didn't know how many minutes had passed after that. But, she barely cared. She was sleeping with Discord, who was surprisingly soft. Fluttershy couldn't think of anywhere else she would want to be. Discord yawned beside her. Fluttershy's head snapped up at the sound, startled. Discord's mismatched eyes blinked open.

"Hello, my dear," said Discord softly. "Feeling better?"

"I feel perfect," replied Fluttershy. She smiled warmly at the draconequus.

"Feeling up to the ball today?" asked Discord. Fluttershy's eyes widened.

"Oh, no!" exclaimed Fluttershy. "If I don't hurry, I will be late to get my dress from Rarity." Discord's eyes flashed with undoubtable disappointment.

"Well, I was looking forward to a nice breakfast, but I suppose I can let it go for a day," said Discord. He snapped up a slice of toast, and handed it to Fluttershy. "Here, at least eat this." Fluttershy took the bread, and took a small bite.

"Thank you Discord. I better be going," said Fluttershy.

"Not without a sweater!" exclaimed Discord. He snapped his talons again, and Fluttershy wore a pure white sweater with light blue snowflakes decorated all over it. She had matching white earmuffs.

"Another beautiful sweater," said Fluttershy happily. "Discord, you will have me prepared for all winters at this rate." Discord chuckled. Fluttershy didn't stay to chat, and flew out the door. Though her flying wasn't very good, she was going faster than she could walk. Soon, she saw the place she had been looking for. She fluttered down, and landed with the snow crunching under her hooves. She knocked on the purple door of Rarity's house, and the white unicorn opened the door.

"Ah, Fluttershy, darling," said Rarity, scanning her over. "You're right on time. Tell me, dear, where did you get that fabulous sweater?" Fluttershy blushed, and smiled.

"Discord gave it to me," said Fluttershy. Discord's name made Rarity's eyes widen, but she smiled at the last part.

"Well, I'll give him he has a sense for finding a nice present for a friend," said Rarity. "It is gorgeous. Oh, where are my manners? Come on in. The others are trying on their dresses as well." They walked inside, and sure enough, the four others were sitting there. Twilight was admiring her dress, with was pitch black, turning into a dark purple at the edges with silvery sparkles running through it. Pinkie was bouncing in her pink dress with red and green swirls. Rainbow was having trouble getting in her golden dress with red patterns. Applejack, was bare. Her hooves were crossed, her lip in a pout.

"Rarity, for the last time, Ah'm not goin' to be wearin' a dress!" snapped Applejack.

"Darling, everypony else is, so you will too," huffed Rarity. "If you're not going to wear the dress, I will force you." Rarity used her magic before Applejack could protest, and a light brown dress appeared on her, with green ribbons on the neck. Applejack pouted.

"Fine, ya win," said Applejack. Rarity turned to Fluttershy, her eyes full of excitement.

"Fluttershy, yours was the one I've been the most excited for," said Rarity. "I know you don't like the special attention, but stallions will be looking at you." Fluttershy blushed.

"Um, but I have one already in mind," said Fluttershy.

"Big Mac?!" exclaimed Rarity, smiling. Fluttershy's heart stopped, and she frowned.

"Um," started Fluttershy.

"I always knew you had something for him! Wait until Applejack finds out. Be right back, and I will bring your dress, too," Rarity galloped over to Applejack, and told her of Fluttershy's 'love interest' as Fluttershy wanted to crawl in a hole. That was not the pony she was looking for. She looked to Applejack, who was looking at her in surprise.

"Fluttershy, can we talk for a minute?" asked Applejack. Fluttershy gulped, and Applejack walked over. "Ah'm not really comfortable with ya likin' my brother, but-"

"I don't like him! Sorry, but I have somepony else in mind," said Fluttershy. "Also, no offense to him, but I don't know him very well."

"But Rarity jus' told me-"

"Well, I'm sorry, but she was wrong," said Fluttershy. Applejack smiled.

"Well, heh, Ah'm sorry for the misunderstandin'. Have a nice time with yer dress," Applejack winked, and walked away. Fluttershy smiled after her. Rarity walked over, with a dress in her hooves.

"Did Applejack give you her blessing, darling?" asked Rarity. Fluttershy opened her mouth. "Ah, that's good."

Discord was having a hard time figuring out what suit to wear. Black? Too plain. Orange? He already did that. Discord groaned, and flopped down onto the floor. He laid there for a few minutes.

"Come on, you idiot!" shouted Discord to himself, spinning midair and landing on his couch. "Fluttershy doesn't want a miserable stallion as a lover!... Or a monster..." Discord sighed sadly. Even though Fluttershy was happy he was going to have a dance with her, it was probably because it would be with a friend. Fluttershy probably loved Big Mac or somepony like that. Discord groaned. She was so perfect, with her teal eyes... That's it! Teal! It looks nice and it would resemble that Discord really appreciated Fluttershy. Discord shot straight up, flapping his wings, and snapped his talons. He wore a teal suit, with a teal hat like the one at the gala, except it had white stripes and a piece of mistletoe sticking at the side. Discord smiled mischieviously. The mistletoe will come in handy.

"Fluttershy, be prepared for the best day of your entire freaking pony life!" hollered Discord. He flashed away.

Discord nervously waited for Fluttershy. She had arrived back shortly after, and Discord had a big issue with hiding the suit. He had it back on, and was waiting for Fluttershy. She was probably stalling for time, so she would not have to dance with Discord. Discord groaned, smacking his face. Suddenly, a small sqeak sounded, and Discord's jaw dropped as he saw Fluttershy.

She was wearing a snow white dress, with green and red striped laces. There were golden, shimmering designs embedded into the hems, and she wore a simple piece of holly behind her ear. Fluttershy was simple, yet the most beautiful thing Discord had ever seen. Fluttershy was blushing, and Discord saw her eyes run down his suit. He tinged red.

"Oh, um, you look... pretty," said Discord, and he mentally slapped himself. Despite that poor compliment, Fluttershy smiled and blushed redder. "Er, I mean beautiful. And, the suit color is because your eyes are so pretty, and um, I wanted to show that off?" Discord inwardly groaned inside. But, Fluttershy still smiled.

"Discord, that is very sweet of you," said Fluttershy. "But, we have to go! In ten minutes is the ball, and I need to be there early for the girls!" Discord snapped his talons, and they appeared in the gazebo. Fluttershy staggered, but luckily, Discord caught her.

"Don't worry, I got it covered," said Discord, smirking.

"Please warn me before you do something like that again," said Fluttershy. Discord slowly let go of her, and disappointment ran through his mind. Couldn't he have held her for a little bit longer? No, it would only scare her.

"My dear, you see them anywhere?" asked Discord.

"Over there," replied Fluttershy. She turned and smiled at him. "I will be gone for a few minutes. Try to talk to Big Mac and Spike." She gestured over to the two, who stood awkwardly. "They could use some of your humor."

Discord smiled. He teleported them. "HELLO WASSUP?!"

"GAH!" cried Spike, nearly falling over. Big Mac's eyes widened, but there wasn't much more of a reaction. Spike steadied himself, and glared at Discord. "Do you seriously have to do that every time?"

"Do you seriously have to get scared and scream like a mare every time?" shot back Discord. Spike rolled his eyes.

"That greeting was uncalled for, right Big Mac?" Spike nudged the large red stallion.

"Eeyup," agreed Big Mac.

"Oh, whatever," said Discord, rolling his eyes. "You just need to lighten up." For emphasis, he snapped his talons, and Spike lit up. Spike gasped, but then the light disappeared.

"Please never do that again," said Spike. "So, going anywhere with that crush on Fluttershy?" Discord's eyes widened.

"How did you- I mean, what do you mean?" asked Discord. Spike's deadpan expression made Discord slump. "Oh, I'll never get anywhere with her. Big Mac, I'm jealous of you. I mean, she probably likes you."

"Eenope," said Big Mac. "I'm taken."

"By who?" asked Discord. Big Mac turned his muzzle away, and his gaze rested on a gray earth pony, with a darker gray mane, and purple eyes. "Alright, then." He felt relief wash over him. One less stallion as competition. Discord snapped out of that thought. Big Mac was his pal. He was not 'competition'. Discord looked over to Fluttershy, where she was laughing with her friends. Discord sighed sadly, getting a look from Spike. But, Discord was deep in thought. Fluttershy was so beautiful when she laughed. Why couldn't he always be the cause of her laughter?

"Equestria to Discord," said Spike, crossing his small, scaly arms. Discord's attention snapped to him.

"Oh, um, yes?" Discord fiddled with his fingers, nervously smiling. He'd been caught staring.

"I suggest less staring," said Spike. "Some ponies are questioning you." Sure enough, some ponies were watching Discord suspiciously. Some were whispering. Discord growled.

"Well, they better stop," said Discord. "Or I'll send them somewhere they will lose their sanity."

"Will Fluttershy approve of that?" Spike snickered. Discord blushed and growled.

"Look, buddy, watch what you're saying," said Discord, butting his forehead to Spike's. "I wouldn't want a new species of purple frogs taking over Equestria." Spike's eyes widened, and gulped.

"Yes, sir! S-Sorry, sir!" said Spike nervously, shrinking down. Discord smiled and patted his head.

"That's better," said Discord. His eyes momentarily met Fluttershy's. He blushed again. Discord groaned to himself, wondering what in Equestria made Fluttershy so attractive. A small hoof tapped his shoulder.

"Hey, Discord," said Fluttershy. "Want to grab some punch?" She smiled, though Discord could see her anxiety. She was in a crowd of ponies. Discord knew he wouldn't like it if he was a beautiful mare (He was far from that) and was very shy.

"Sure, my dear," said Discord. Fluttershy and Discord walked over to the punch. Fluttershy glanced at him with an emotion that made Discord's heart pound. Discord turned bright red, hoping nopony could hear it. Somehow, he was sweating, regardless of the coldness touching his skin. He intook his breath and let it out slowly. Fluttershy handed him a cup of pink-purple liquid. Discord gulped it down quickly, and sighed in relief.

"I needed that," said Discord.

"Discord, the music is about to come on!" exclaimed Fluttershy. Sure enough, a small orchestra gathered under the gazebo.

"My dear, I will be right back," said Discord, seeing in the corner of his vision Big Mac looking panicked. "I need to help Big Mac." He teleported over to Big Mac. "Hey, going to dance with Marble?" Big Mac's breath caught.

"Nope," he said with a strained voice.

"Oh, don't break the mare's heart!" snapped Discord. "Get over there!" Discord's arms gripped Big Mac by the sides, and he teleported them to Marble Pie, who was alone at the side. "Come on! Get together and dance!" The two ponies didn't look at each other. Then, they smiled. Big Mac looked into Marble's eyes, and the decision was made. He offered his hoof to the gray mare, and took her out where couples started to gather. Then, a sweet, slow music started to play. Discord heard pounding in his ears, and flashed nearby Fluttershy, who was talking to a stallion. Jealousy gripped his heart. Before he got angry, though, Fluttershy shook her head, and the stallion's head lowered as he walked away. Discord rushed over to her.

"Mind if I have this dance," said Discord. Fluttershy's head was lowered.

"Sorry, sir, I already-" She looked up and blushed. "Oh, Discord! Of course." Discord felt the glares of some stallions, probably rejected by Fluttershy. Discord smirked, and reached down his paw to her. His heart leaped with joy as her hoof connected to his paw. He gripped her other hoof and lowered himself down.

Discord honesty didn't know what he was doing, but he felt right holding her to his chest. They spun to the energetic, but beautiful slow music. Fluttershy seemed to be comfortable, much to his delight. Spinning her, making her gasp, made Discord chuckle. Fluttershy laughed with him. Discord realized some of the couples stopped dancing, and were staring at them. Heat rushed to his face, but he continued. He was dancing with Fluttershy, the love of his life, and he wanted the world to know about it. As the music came to a close, Discord dipped Fluttershy to the ground, and all eyes were on him.

It struck him. The ponies were waiting for him to kiss Fluttershy. After all, she was beautiful tonight, and maybe she felt the same. Discord felt like she might. So, Discord leaned down a bit. Fluttershy's eyes widened, and she closed the gap. They embraced, but it was a second. Applause sounded, and Discord turned bright red.

"Thank you for this dance," said Fluttershy, equally red. No, she probably did it because everypony would be disappointed if she didn't. Discord sighed sadly, though he was very cheerful, being able to dance with the mare of his dreams.

"That was a wonderful dance," said Twilight, smiling warmly.

"Even if you and old Dipcord kissed," added Rainbow, gagging.

"Darling, it was only because everypony was expecting her to," said Rarity. Fluttershy frowned. "Especially when she has an eye for Big Mac."

"Ah don't think she does," said Applejack. Fluttershy gave her a grateful glance.

"And you wouldn't know that," said Rarity. "I'm the romantic. I know who a pony should go for."

"Actually, no offense, but you don't," said Fluttershy.

"Why, whatever do you-"

"I don't like Big Mac like that," said Fluttershy. "I told this to Applejack. I have an eye for somepony else."

"And Ah can tell when somepony is lyin'," said Applejack. "She was tellin' the darn truth."

"Oh well," sighed Rarity. "You would have made a nice pair, but if you don't want this, then neither do I." Fluttershy gave her a smile.

"I'm glad you understand," said Fluttershy.
