Gold felt weightless. It was like he was floating in space. He opened his eyes, and was blinded by the light. He blinked the light out of his eyes, and saw that he was in the memory realm. "Here, again?"
"Glad to see that your awake," said a familiar voice. Gold pushed himself up and looked around.
He saw an old friend. "Yugi?"
"Hello Gold." Yugi came over and helped Gold to his feet. "You were out for quite awhile."
"Why are we in the memory?"
"You were given a hero's chance to return to Earth."
"What's a hero's chance?"
"A hero's chance is when someone, like yourself, makes a great sacrifice. They are given the chance to return to their world, but they must go through a set of challenges. Your challenges will be duels."
"Ok. Anything else I need to know?"
"Well there is a certain time limit to return to your world."
"You couldn't have said that first," deadpanned Gold. "If I have a time limit, then we should find the first challenge."
"That would be right behind you." Yugi pointed to something.
Behind Gold was a huge tower. "Oh great. I hate climbing." Gold walked into the tower, and ascended the stairs. By the time he made it to the top, he was out of breath.
"I see you finally made it," said Yugi, who was waiting for Gold.
"If I... wasn't....... so....... tired...... I would ask how you got up here." Gold got his breath back. "So, what now?"
"Oh, thy knight has come to rescue thee." Gold turned to see Sunset dressed in a medieval princesses outfit.
"Yes. I have," said Gold.
"Not quite, naive knight." A guy in an old fashioned wizard's robe appeared. "You will have to duel me for the princesses." The wizard summoned a floating deck.
"Looks like this is my first challenge." Gold summoned his duel disk.
Yugi summoned his duel disk. "You won't be facing him alone."
"Let's duel!"
Gold and Yugi: 8000
Dark Wizard: 8000
"I'll make the first move." Dark Wizard looked over his cards. "I summon out Mystical Elf in defense mode."

"I draw." Gold drew his first card. He then noticed the cards in his hand. 'Some of these cards were from the defeated shadows. Looks like they'll be of some help.' "I summon one monster in face down defense mode and end my turn."
"Nice play, Gold. I can sense your strategy. Now it's my move I draw." Yugi looked at his new card, and smiled. "I'll use Polymerazation to fuse together Gazelle the King of Mythical Beast and Berfomat to fusion summon Chimera the Flying Mythical Beast."

A copy of the first Dark Magician appeared. "Then I'll activate Burden of the Mighty and Magicians Unite."

"Not on my watch," said Yugi. "I activate Mirror Force."
"Nice try, but I'll use my own Mirror Force. So now the attack is sent to Gold's face down." Gold's monster was destroyed. "I end my turn."
"I draw." Gold drew his next card. He then smiled. "I should thank you for destroying Card Magician, now I'll have the ultimate defense. And since your turn ended your Dark Magacians attack returns to normal."

"Now to summon out my ace monster. I activate Light in Darkness."

"Time to bring the light." Crimson fired a blast that destroyed Dark Magician.

"That'll end my turn."
"I draw." Yugi drew his card. "I sacrifice Tricky from my hand to summon out my own Dark Magician." The classic Dark Magician appeared. Yugi turned to Gold. "Care to finish him together."
"You read my mind, Yugi."
"Mythical Light Charge." The three monsters combined their attacks and finished off Dark Wizard.

Dark Wizard: 0
"My hero," said 'Sunset'.
The area faded around Gold, with Yugi disappearing as well. "Ok, now what?"
"I can answer that." Gold looked up to see someone riding on the back of an Elemental Hero monster.
"Jaden Yuki, thought I would see you here. I guess your leading me to my next challenge."
"Actually, your already here." Jaden dropped a sword in front of Gold. "Your gonna need that."
"What could I possible need this for?" Gold picked up the sword. As soon as he did, a figure appeared. It looked like Pinkie, but her hair was straight and she gave off this weird vibe. "Uh, Pinkie?"
She looked up to Gold. "Hey, Goldie." Her voice freaked Gold out.
"Ok, not Pinkie." Gold raised his sword.
"Actually, I'm technically a part of Pinkie."
"So, if you get hurt, does the real Pinkie get hurt."
"You'll just have to see." The fake Pinkie summoned her own sword, and charged forward.
"Plan B." Gold started running from the crazy girl. He evaded all of her attacks. "This is crazy."
"Looks like it," commented Jaden.
"Not helping." Gold dodged another head attack. "I can't beat her."
"Do you want to hurt her?" asked Jaden.
"Of coarse not. She may be a crazed version, but she's still Pinkie. She's still... one of the ones I love."
"Then fight the way you would fight," said Jaden.
"Of coarse." Gold barely escaped another hit. He pushed himself back. "Come forth, Madolche Queen Tiaramisu."
A female in a brown dress, holding a brown and yellow septer appeared. "Time to sweeten this bitter opponent." She waved her septer, and the crazed Pinkie got caught in a quick hardening chocolate.
"No." She tried freeing herself, but couldn't.
"That's better. Thanks for the help, Tiar."
"No problem. The author wouldn't have summoned me if you weren't in danger."
"Wait what?"
"Nothing. Bye." Tiaramisu disappeared, and Jaden followed.
A doorway appeared in front of Gold. "Ok. If I run fast enough, I can get throughout the door." But before he could move, he was pushed back by an unseen force.
"Your not going anywhere." Gold looked up to see a dark version of himself. "Your going to stay here for eternity."
"Not another one. How do I get by you?"
"You don't. Your never returning to Earth."
"You and what army?"
"Why, my army of numbers." Dark Gold snapped his fingers and at least a hundred monsters appeared. "Now then, would you like to go peacefully or forcefully. Please choose forcefully."
"Niether," said Gold, but there was a second voice. A third figure appeared next to Gold. "Yuma?"
Yuma looked over to Gold. "Yeah, but it's not just me." Astral appeared next to Gold.
"We've both come to help." Astral looked to Gold. "Gold, you have the true guardians power. If we combine our strength, we can end this."
Gold looked at the obstical ahead. He gained a confident look. "Let's do this."
Astral gave a confirming nod. The two turned into gold and red lights. "We build the overlay network to Xyz summon...." The two disappeared into a portal. The portal exploded and light filled the area. When the light cleared a figure in white and gold armor stood before his enemy. "We are Phoenix." Phoenix charged up a blast of energy and fired it at all the monsters.
Dark Gold smiled. "Go my pets. Go to Earth and wreak your havoc." The numbers passed through the portal, and the shadow disappeared.
Gold and Astral separated. "So, I guess your sticking around?"
"It would be unwise not to," said Astral.
"Well, onwards to the future." Gold ran into the portal.
