A story to bridge the gap between Yu-Gi-Oh! EQG 3 and the Yu-Gi-Oh! EQG 4
After his visit to Equestria, Burst comes to terms with the fact he's had interest in Principal Celestia. But confessing to the girl you like is never easy. And how will Burst know if she feels the same way? At the same time, Inferno starts to date Rarity.
It was a weekend, and after Burst and Inferno had gone to Equestria and back it was needless to say that the main seven were dying for a bit of excitement.
"Uugggghhh!", Rainbow groaned. "I'm bored! Can't we see what Burst and Inferno are up to?"
"Speaking of one of our favorite dragon duelists, Fluttershy just sent me a text that she's bringing some food to him.", Rarity said.
"Why would she bring him food?", Sunset asked.
"She said he's training in the forest. Any of you want to go along?"
"Well, I got nothin' better to do. Why don't we go see what he's up to?", Applejack asked. And with that, they all headed for the forest in the hopes to stave off their boredom. When they arrived they couldn't believe what they saw Burst doing! He was punching boulders into rocks and kicking down trees! But the most impressive thing they saw was Burst doing a shoryuken that seemed to make a permanent mark on a waterfall splitting the flow right down the middle!
"This looks like something out of Dragon Ball Z!", Rainbow said. Then she noticed a stray boulder rolling right towards Burst! "Hey Burst! Watch out!" Burst spotted the boulder rolling his way, and got into a stance.
"Hadoken!", Burst shouted as he fired a blast of blue energy from his hands that obliterated the boulder! As he went to meet his friends, Rainbow Dash and the others noticed one very important fact. Burst Stream was shirtless. And they were enjoying the view. "Thanks for the heads-up Dash! Dash? AJ? Rarity? You alright?"
"Oh...w-we're just fine!", Rainbow Dash stammered out.
"All fine on this end.", AJ said while trying to hide her blush with her hat.
"Hello handsome!", Rarity said nearly swooning.
"No wonder he turned into an alicorn in Equestria.", Sunset said with a joking smile. Fluttershy soon showed up to give Burst the lunch she made him. Oddly enough, she was the only one not distracted by Burst's good looks.
"Hello Burst! Here's the lunch I got ready for you. I appreciate that you texted me ahead of time."
"Fluttershy, how are you not speechless at the magnificent sight before you?", Rarity asked.
"Because I just like Burst as a friend.", Fluttershy said plainly.
"In that case, you doing anything tonight?", Rarity in a flirty voice.
"Sorry Rarity. But I'm interested in someone else. And tomorrow, I was planning on telling her."
"Well at least you were up-front with telling me darling. So who's the lucky girl?"
"Oh. It's Principal Celestia!" All the girls were silent for a good solid minute. And then the silence was broken.
"So, how did you know you had feelings for her?", Sunset asked.
"It started earlier this year when I was called into the office when I forgot to put my duel monsters deck away. And I was getting a little bit carried away with looking at it."
Earlier that year...
"Burst Stream.", Cheerilee said.
"Uh-oh! Sorry! I guess I've just got duels on my mind.", Burst said with a nervous smile.
"I understand. I love dueling as much as the next person, but considering this has been reported by all of your other teachers today. I'm afraid I'm going to have to send you to the principal's office. Don't worry, you're not in trouble."
"I get it.", Burst said with a defeated smile. "You're reasoning is pretty valid." And with that Burst put his deck in his pocket and made his way to Principal Celestia's office.
"Hello Burst Stream.", Celestia said with a pleasant smile. "From what I heard, you're here because you had 'duel monsters on the mind'?"
"Yeah. I'd understand if you want to confiscate my deck for the day."
"Actually, I had another idea in mind." Celestia said as she got out her own deck. "I've heard you're quite the duelist. Care to see how your skills stack up?" Burst couldn't believe it! His own principal wanted to duel him and didn't want to confiscate his deck?! But then again, he never said no to a duel.
Burst: 8000 Celestia: 8000
"I'll let you have the first move.", Celestia said.
"Okay then. I reveal one Blue Eyes White Dragon and special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon. Then I'll play Trade-In to discard Blue Eyes and draw two new cards. Then I'll play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive the Blue Eyes I sent to the graveyard. Your move Principal Celestia."
"I play the ritual spell Hymn of Light. I tribute one monster from my hand to special summon Saffira, Queen of Dragons. Then I'll use one of her effects. If you wouldn't mind, please discard one card. I'll end my turn now."
"Well now that I've discarded White Stone of Ancients its effect activates. Since your turn ended, I get to special summon a blue eyes monster from my deck. So I'll special summon Dragon Spirit of White. Then I'll use Alternative's effect to destroy your Queen of Dragons!"
"I banish Hymn of Light to protect Saffira! So she's safe from your effect."
"Maybe. But she's still open to attack! Dragon Spirit, take down Saffira! And Blue Eyes attacks you directly! White Lightning!"
Burst: 8000 Celestia: 4700
"Good move! Now I play the spell Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen to special summon Airknight Parshath. Next I summon Vylon Cube and now I tune my two monsters to synchro summon Avenging Knight Parshath! Next I'll use his effect to change your Dragon Spirit to defense mode! And if Parshath destroys it he inflicts piercing damage!"
"No he won't! I banish Return of the Dragon Lords to save my monster!"
"Impressive! I end my turn."
Burst: 7400 Celestia: 4700
"Okay then! I summon White Stone of Legends and tune it with Dragon Spirit of White to synchro summon Blue Eyes Spirit Dragon! Now I'll overlay my other two dragons to xyz summon Galaxy Eyes Tachyon Dragon! Next I play Dragon Shrine to send one Blue Eyes White Dragon to the graveyard! And since he's a normal monster, I can send another dragon to the graveyard! Next I'll banish the Blue Eyes and Blue Eyes Alternative that I sent to the graveyard by playing Dragon's Mirror! This lets me special summon Blue Eyes Twin Burst Dragon! Now I'll activate Galaxy Eyes' effect! By detaching one overlay unit, I can negate the effects of all other face-up monsters on the field! Galaxy Eyes, take down Parshath! Spirit and Twin Burst, attack her directly!"
Burst: 7400, win Celestia: lose
"Good dueling Burst.", Celestia said. "I'll write you a pass so you can head back to class."
"That's awfully kind of you Principal."
"Of course. Just try to pay attention more."
"Thanks. I'll be sure to.", Burst said with a smile.
"No problem. Oh and one more thing."
"What's tha.." Burst barely had enough time to finish his sentence as Celestia walked up and hugged him!
"We should do this again some time!", Celestia said with a wink.
"Uh...sure!", Burst said with a blush on his face.
Back in the present...
"And that's how my feelings towards her started. She's one of the nicest woman and most beautiful women I've seen."
"Awwww!", all the girls said.
"You're growing up so fast!", Blue Eyes said as he blew into a tissue.
"Well Burst, good luck in telling her how you feel!", Rainbow said.
"I do hope she returns your feelings.", Rarity said.
"Thanks everyone! This is going to be harder than any duel I've ever fought."
'This is your one shot Burst! You'll never get another chance to tell her! You've fought evil monsters and duelists and even traveled to another world and back! So just gather your courage and act on your instincts!', Burst thought to himself as he went to Principal Celestia's office. She had requested to see him. As to why, Burst didn't know. But what he did know was that this was the best chance to tell her how he felt about her. And hopefully she felt the same way. "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes I did Burst Stream. There's something I would like to bring up.", Celestia said as she greeted him.
"Actually, there's something I wanted to talk to you about too."
"Really?"
"Y..yeah. You see, I've kinda been dealing with these thoughts that are running through my head. And...agh! There's just no easy way to say it!"
"Burst Stream. Please, feel free to tell me what's on your mind."
"I...like you."
"Like as in?"
"Like-like you. Do you remember that one time we dueled?"
"I do."
"Well ever since then, I've kind of developed feelings for you. You so kind and caring about everyone around you. And you're one of the prettiest girls I know. So the bottom line is I...I love you!", Burst nearly choked on those last words. Celestia was silent for a moment. And then she cracked a small smile.
"For a minute there I was worried that I'd have to go first."
"Excuse me?"
"I've felt that same way about you. You care deeply for your friends and family, and cherish your deck like it's a part of you. Not to mention you're pretty good looking yourself.", she said with a gentle smile. "At first, I was worried you'd reject me due to obvious reasons. I thought you might find it weird that I'd have feelings for you. Not including our age gap, the position of authority I'm in alone is quite intimidating."
"It looks like we were both worried for nothing then.", Burst said with a smile. "So...what happens next?"
"Depends. Are you free this friday?"
"Principal Celestia, are you asking me out?"
"I am. And please just call me Celestia. You are my boyfriend now."
"Okay then...Celestia.", Burst said with a slight blush as he walked out of her office. "....Yes! I did it! And she feels the same way!"
"Nice job Burst!", Blue Eyes said as he materialized. "Now that wasn't so bad was it?"
"You kidding?! I feel like the luckiest guy in the world!" Back in her office, Celestia's own duel monster partner materialized.
"You've got good taste in men Celestia.", Saffira said.
"Thank you Saffira. To be honest, I've had my eye on him since he was a freshman. It wasn't easy telling him."
"All that matters is that he knows the way you feel about him. And that he feels the same way."
"You're right. That is all that matters.", Celestia said with a fond smile. 'Now I just need to think of date both of us will enjoy.'
Inferno was strolling through the hallway with his headphones blaring in his ears. As he walked he noticed Rarity was moping at her locker, and decided to see what was up. "Hey Rares! What's up? You look kinda down about something."
"Oh. It's nothing Inferno."
"Rarity. Be honest with me. I can tell something's bothering you. Please. Tell me."
"Well...it's just that...every guy I like is taken!"
"Wow. That bites. Well I guess we're in the same boat. I've been single all my life."
"Really? I find that hard to believe. You are quite dashing. Especially when you're dueling. Blazing red eyes and that smile. You could win-over every girl here with those looks. And you're one of the nicest guys I know."
"That's my problem. Most of the girls I asked out branded me as a geek just because I dueled. I got so sick of it I swore-off asking girls out for about a year!"
"I'm sorry to hear that." Rarity offered him a small smile. And Inferno's spirits were soon lifted.
"Rarity? Would you go out with me?"
"My I....I didn't expect you to be this forward!"
"Agh! I didn't mess up already did I?!"
"No,no. In fact, it's actually a pleasant surprise. I wish half the boys here were as forward with rejection as you are with asking me out."
"Well I'm no prince charming, but I am a handsome dragon! So is that a yes?"
"It is. I'm available friday. What about you?"
"Definitely! See ya then!" As he walked off, Rarity smiled as she thought to herself.
'Well Rarity, you've found the one! Soon Master Diamond materialized.
"Inferno seems like a noble soul to have your hand my lady. I believe you will find great happiness with him!"
"Thank you Diamond. Now, to decide what sort of date it should be..."
Days came and went, and before anyone knew it friday had arrived. For most students it was a chance to make plans for the weekend. For Burst and Inferno, it was the day they would have their first dates. "I'd stick around Inferno, but I've got other plans tonight. See ya around!"
"Same here Burst! Maybe we'll hang out some other time!" And with that, both of them left to prepare for their dates that night. Burst and Inferno got texts from Celestia and Rarity respectively. 'Make sure to bring your deck with you.' Not being ones to question it, they got their deck boxes and duel disks prepared. Burst was rummaging through his closet trying to put together an outfit. He had jeans and black sneakers picked out, but was missing a good shirt. Then something caught his eye.
"Didn't expect to find this again.", Burst said as he looked at the shirt. It was a shirt made to look like the costume of the red ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' "Think I'll go with this. It's not a formal date, so I shouldn't worry about dressing up." Burst then summoned Blue Eyes for a lift. "You ready for tonight Burst?", Blue Eyes asked. "Yeah. It's gonna be awesome!" And with that, Blue Eyes flew Burst to Celestia's house. Meanwhile, Inferno was still stuck on picking out an outfit. Noticing his predicament, Red Eyes showed up to try and help him out.
"Inferno, why are you being so picky with an outfit? Just throw together something that looks normal."
"Red Eyes, Rarity is REALLY passionate about clothing! I'm not gonna show up to our date looking like a slob!"
"Dude. It's just a regular date. You're not taking her out somewhere fancy. Just throw together an outfit you like that says 'you.' "
"Heh. I guess I did overthink it a bit too much." Inferno managed to piece together an outfit consisting of red sneakers, black jeans, and a red shirt with the transformers logo on it. "Well Red Eyes, wish me luck!"
"I would, but you don't seem to need it." Inferno then made his way to Rarity's house and Burst had just arrived at Celestia's house. When he knocked on the door, Luna was the one who answered.
"You must be Burst Stream."
"That's me. Uh, is Celestia there? We were supposed to go out tonight."
"She's almost ready. Hope you two have fun!"
"Thanks. I hope so too." Soon Celestia came down to meet them. Oddly enough, she was wearing a shirt similar to Burst's. Only it was based on the pink ranger.
"Hi Burst! You ready?"
"Uh-huh. So what's the first stop on our night out?"
"I thought we should hit-up the duel park first and see where things go from there."
"Sounds like fun!" And with that they left for the duel park.
Meanwhile with Inferno and Rarity...
"So Rarity, why did you tell me to bring my deck with me? Is dueling a part of our date?"
"As a matter of fact, yes. Considering we both like to duel so much I thought it would be a good way to kick this date off!"
"Nice! Hey wait a minute! Isn't that Burst and Principal Celestia?", Inferno asked when he saw Burst and Celestia together.
"I believe it is. Burst asked her out earlier this week."
Inferno nodded as he gave an approving smile. "Nice job Burst! You got yours, and I got mine. Hey Rarity! Why don't we duel them? I'm sure they're here for the same reasons we are, so why not ask them?"
"Sounds like a great idea!"
"Great! I'll flag them down! Hey Burst!", Inferno called out! Noticing his best friend calling to him, Burst decided to see what was up.
"Hey Inferno. I'm guessing you're on a date too?"
"Yup! You and Celestia wanna duel against me and Rarity? I can't think of any better ways to kick-start the night."
"Sure! Just let me tell Celestia." After Burst told her about what he and Inferno had planned, Celestia agreed and soon the duel-date had begun. "Okay. Up first is me against Inferno."
Burst: 8000 Inferno: 8000
"You got the first move Inferno."
"Thanks man! I play Red-Eyes Fusion! I'll send Red Eyes Black Dragon and Summoned Skull to the graveyard to fusion summon Archfiend Black Skull Dragon! That's it for my turn. Your move!"
"Alright! I play the spell card Harmony Absolute and send one Blue Eyes White Dragon to the graveyard to summon Blue Eyes Absolute Dragon! Then I'll play Dragon Shrine to send one normal dragon type monster to the graveyard! And since it was a normal dragon, I get to send another dragon to the graveyard to boost Blue Eyes' attack by 300 points for each monster in the graveyard! Attack with Absolute Neutron Blast!" Blue Eyes charged up his attack and let loose a mighty blast that destroyed Archfiend Black Skull Dragon!
"Way to start off big Burst! But did you forget about Black Skull's effect? Since you attacked him, I can inflict the attack of a Red Eyes normal monster in my graveyard as damage!"
"Oh I knew. Which is exactly why I destroyed him! One of Blue Eyes Absolute's effects is that any effect damage inflicted to me increases my life points instead."
Burst: 10400 Inferno: 5600
"Wow. I didn't expect that. You've brought out your ace, so I'll bring out mine! I summon Black Stone of Legend and tribute it to special summon Red Eyes Black Dragon from my deck! Now I activate Harmony Absolute! I'll send the Red Eyes Black Dragon to bring out Red Eyes Absolute Dragon! You ready Red Eyes?" Inferno called out as Red Eyes Absolute descended from the sky.
"You bet I am! Time to show Blue Eyes my new upgrades!"
"Right! Red Eyes Absolute gains 300 attack for each monster in my graveyard! I know that any effect damage I try to inflict on you will only boost your life points, but I've got a work around for that! I halve Red Eyes' attack points so he can attack you directly!" Red Eyes Absolute flew over Blue Eyes and struck Burst directly!
Burst: 7650 Inferno: 5600
"Nice move Inferno! Didn't expect to be dealt that much damage in just one turn! Both of our dragons are immune to card effects, so the only way for them to take each other down is by sheer force! And I'd say Blue Eyes has the edge in that department! Absolute Nuetron Blast!"
"Good try Red Eyes, but not good enough!", Blue Eyes said as he fired his attack!
"Meh. At least I threw in one good punch!", Red Eyes said as he faded from the field as a result of the attack.
Burst: 7650 Inferno: 5200
"Well the next best thing I can do is this! I play Soul Charge! By paying 1000 life points I can special summon a monster from my graveyard! And I choose Red Eyes Black Dragon!"
"Sorry Inferno. But that's not going to slow me down! One of Blue Eyes Absolute's effects is that he can inflict piercing damage!"
"Well so much for that plan.", Inferno said as his monster was destroyed and the piercing damage hit him full force
Burst: 7650 Inferno: 400
"No matter what I try I know your dragon is going to find some way around it. So I end my turn. Come at me bro! I accept my defeat with grace!", Inferno said in a dramatic fashion.
"You asked for it. Absolute Neutron Blast!" And with one last attack, their duel ended. "Great duel Inferno! I've never seen you pull off a combo like that one. Especially one that let you power up Red Eyes that fast!"
"Thanks Burst! So I guess our girls are up next on the dueling field?"
"Uh-huh. Can't wait to see what moves they've got!"
Celestia: 8000 Rarity: 8000
"I hope you don't mind Principal Celestia, but I'll take the first turn."
"Go ahead."
'Thank you. I play Gem-Knight Fusion to fusion summon Gem Knight-Master Diamond! Now he gains 100 attack for each gem monster in my graveyard! I'll end my turn now. Your move."
"Here I go! I play Hymn of Light and tribute a monster from my hand to ritual summon Saffira, Queen of Dragons! Now I'll play Trade-In to discard a level eight monster to the graveyard and draw two cards. Now I play Return of the Dragon Lords to revive Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand from the graveyard! Next I'll activate his effect! I can target one monster my opponent controls and banish it. Then Felgrand gains attack equal to the level or rank of that monster times 100! And I choose your Master Diamond which means Felgrand gains 900 points! Attack her directly!" Saffira and Felgrand fired two large beams of light energy that struck Rarity directly!
Celestia: 8000 Rarity: 1800
"That was quite the move principal! I summon Gem-Knight Alexandrite and tribute him to special summon Gem-Knight Crystal! Unfortuantely his attack points can't stand up against your monsters', so I'll put him in defense mode and end my turn."
"I'll have Felgrand destroy your destroy your face-down monster, and Saffira attacks you directly for game."
Celestia: 8000 Rarity: lose
"You dueled well Rarity.", Celestia said with a smile.
"Thank you. But you went the whole duel without taking any damage! That alone is pretty impressive without counting the fact you almost had a one-turn knockout earlier!"
"So where to from here?", Inferno asked.
"Getting a bite to eat sounds like a good idea to me.", Burst said. "What about you two?"
"Sounds fine to me.", Celestia said.
"I'm getting a bit peckish myself darling. So what are you in the mood for?"
Burst and Inferno smiled. "Pizza!"
"I know a place.", Celestia said. "Best slices in Canterlot!"
"Perfect! But, quick question. What are we going to do about transportation?", Rarity asked.
"We're on it!", Burst and Inferno said as they summoned Blue Eyes and Red Eyes respectively.
"Good evening. I shall be your driver for the night.", Red Eyes said with a bow. "Red Eyes there's no need to be that formal.", Inferno said. "Says the guy who was freaking out about his outfit just a little while ago.", Red Eyes quipped. Rarity couldn't help but giggle at their interaction as she and Inferno got on Red Eyes' back.
"Ever ride on a dragon before Celestia?", Burst asked. "I think Luna has in her video games. I'll be sure to tell her how it is in real life though.", Celestia said. "Hang on you two. Things might get a little bumpy!", Blue Eyes said as he and Red Eyes took off! Soon they landed at the pizza place Celestia was talking about. "That was amazing!", Celestia said as she got off of Blue Eyes. "I've never had a ride quite like that before." "Yeah. Blue Eyes tends to make things more exciting." "Hey Burst. Make sure you save any left-overs for Red Eyes and I!" "I'll try! But I can't make any promises with Inferno's appetite!" "Hey!", Inferno snapped. "Dude, I saw how fast you demolished that giant cupcake back in Equestria! You've got the appetite of an anime character!" Celestia and Rarity chuckled at the two going back and forth as they went inside. After polishing off a whole pie, Burst made sure to order an extra one to-go. Once they were outside, Burst summoned Blue Eyes. "Here's a whole extra pizza for you and Red Eyes." "Thanks Burst!", Blue Eyes said as he returned to the monster world. "Well, I'm out of ideas. What should we do next?" A spark went off in Inferno's head. "Karaoke! I'm gonna serenade Rarity! And you gotta sing for Celestia, Burst!", Inferno said with a mischievous smile. Burst smirked, "Challenge accepted!" When they arrived at the karaoke place, Inferno was the first to step-up. "This one's for you Rarity!" And with that, he began to sing his song of choice.

"Marvelous!", Rarity cheered! "Encore!" Inferno smiled. "Now it's your turn Burst!" Burst pulled up his song choice on the machine and prepared to sing his heart out.

"You didn't tell me you could sing that good Burst.", Celestia said with a smile. Burst couldn't help but blush when she said that.
"I should probably take you back home now.", Burst said as he noticed Inferno getting a goodnight kiss from Rarity. 'Those two seemed to hit-it-off.', Burst thought to himself as he walked Celestia home. "I had a fun night Celestia. What about you?"
"Tonight was amazing. You know how to show a girl a good time.", she said with a warm smile.
"Thanks! Have a goodnight!" As they got closer to her door, Celestia kissed Burst on the lips before she went inside.
"Goodnight Burst Stream" Burst had never felt happier in his life!
'I'm DEFINITELY having sweet dreams tonight!', he thought to himself as he headed home.
Dark Ice was furious! Only days ago he had been beaten! Humiliated by his weakling of a brother! Time after time Ace had taken him down! But next time! Next time Ace would be in for all sorts of unpleasant surprises! After this latest duel when he had collapsed, Dark Mist had fused with him! Their combined darkness flowing through him greatly increased his power and the evil intent within him. He wanted to make Ace suffer for beating him! But how to hurt him the most was what he really wanted to know. Meanwhile, Nightmare Moon had just won a duel.
"This world does have some capable duelists after all. A pity that none can match my strength.", Nightmare said with a satisfied smirk on her face. She then sensed a source of great dark power. "Well, well, It seems this world is not without it's share of villains.", she said as she approached Dark Ice.
"What do you want?!", Dark Ice hissed. Nightmare Moon chuckled.
"I sense great vengeance in you. Tell me. Who do you seek to wreak it upon?"
"My brother. Time after time he's beaten me! My duel monster partner and I seek power, and the best source comes from the cards duelists cherish most! So once I dueled an opponent, I would take their most treasured card and Dark Mist would sap its energy to increase his power! But each time my brother, Ace, would defeat me! And after our last duel he reclaimed all of the cards I stole! I HATE HIM! I want to make him pay! I want him to suffer! I want revenge!"
"Then maybe we can help each other out. I wish to bring eternal night to this world. Join me, and you shall have your revenge."
Dark Ice gave her an evil smile. "I accept!"
"Not just yet."
"WHAT?!"

"Very well then. Farewell for the moment." And with that, Dark Ice left. 'Huh. Plotting takes more out of me than I thought. I guess now's as good a time as any to nap.' As Nightmare drifted off to sleep, she soon found herself in the dreamscape of the human world. "So this is their dreamscape. Hm?" Nightmare had picked up on a great power. One exactly like the one that had led her to this world! "Time to see just who this great power belongs to.", Nightmare said to herself as she investigated the dream where it was coming from. When she found the source, she saw Burst Stream's dream! In it, he was on a date with Celestia at the park. "So this world has her too.", Nightmare said as she gazed at Burst's dream. As she watched, she managed to find out Burst's name. Soon, Burst's dream reached a part where he was resting under a tree on Celestia's lap. "Time to see him up close.", Nightmare said as she entered the dream and took the place of Celestia. Once she was there, she took a moment to take in Burst's form. "You look so peaceful here. From this angle I'd never expect you to have so much power within you. You're like a sleeping dragon.", Nightmare said with a small smile. "It also appears I have you to thank for giving me a new life.", she said as she kissed Burst on his forehead. "Sleep well Burst Stream. For when you awake, we will meet again." And with that, she left and returned the dream to its original state.
