Vacations and Shadows

The sun rises over Equistera as Twilight gets ready for her day. She had a lot on her mind and wanted to take a small break from all her work. She looked over her small map of Pony Ville and Canterlot's borders between each other. Celestia's student had studied it good, but could not find a good place to take a small vacation.

"Ugh, no where." She thought to herself. Twilight was the only one in the room, besides Discord hearing every word. She looked through her map again, and found a small spot on it, labeled 'Hana No Mura.' Twilight thought deep about this place, because of what Discord and Spike told her about the village. "Oh, I've heard about this village before! Discord gave me a small flower from the village, no wonder I remember it. Maybe I should tell Spike I'll be taking an absence for it." Twilight thought with good pleasure and ideas. As she trotted through the halls of her beautiful castle, she felt different from when she normally traveled in it. She felt... As if the shadows had eyes, staring at her. She thought it was Discord, but knowing how he changed for the greater good, she kept trotting, slowly. Twilight turned her head back for one second and... "Wait, did the shadows just..." Twilight shook her head a little because she thought the shadows started to jump at her, and only found it to be not true at all. "Huh. It's probably me. Never mind." She once again began to trot and went to look for Spike.

"A vacation?! Twilight, we have more than enough work that needs to be done, and while everypony and everything is depending on us to get our job done, you want to take a small absence?!" Spike was shocked when he heard the words Vacation and Absence. He couldn't believe that Twilight wanted to take a small vacation, possibly for a few days, and all the stuff they needed to get done for their people.

"Spike, if work truly needs to be done, we can have Discord use his magic to get them done, and it'll possibly make everpony feel a bit easier and happier. Besides, Discord takes vacations when he gets his job done, and we haven't taken a day off... Yet." Twilight reasoned with Spike in a calm manner, and put her hoof on his shoulder. The baby dragon sighed and looked at her.

"Well... Point taken. I'll come with you and your friends. You plan on bringing Caring Slash with you?" He asked, smiling a bit. Twilight blushed a little and looked at him with an embarrassed face, before starting to giggle a little.

"Of course I am, Spike. He'd love it too." With that being said, Twilight and Spike went to go tell her friends about their vacation plans. She once again felt like the shadows were watching her, but paid no attention. Little did she know, it wasn't just a small hallucination in mind, it was for REAL. They scuttled outside the castle and into a forest.

As Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Pinkie Pie heard about this, they really didn't have any complaints about the idea of taking a vacation.

"I'd really love a vacation. It'll give me time to show my new clothing to other ponies. Such a beautiful thought!" Rarity said, smiling a bit.

"I've been wanting one for a while now. Very nice that the patience paid off." Rainbow admitted, a small smile on her face.

"S-so it's settled?" Fluttershy asked in a calm voice.

"We'll get situated then!" Applejack chuckled a bit.

"Yay!" Pinkie giggled. As they finished the conversation, they began to pack up for the vacation of a lifetime.

"This will be exciting." Twilight thought as she packed.

Hana No Mura, Blossoms to Desolation

The day came as Twilight, Caring, Spike and friends had went to the train station for their vacation. It was at this time that Caring and Spike bought the tickets that went to the train station of Hana No Mura. As they got on the train, putting their luggage above them, Twilight read a book while Caring had his head resting on her shoulder. Spike and Rarity had a nice overview of the beautiful river as they passed the bridge. This was surely a nice train ride. As Twilight came to an end of her book, she drifted to sleep. While she dreamed, she once again saw the shadows, lurking around her in a deep, dark area, and a boy standing in the distance. He was not fully visible, and he could not speak, as the boy slowly walked away, and the shadows once again surrounded her and jumped around her, and just as they were about to strike, Caring shook her a little to get her up.

"Twilight, were here." Caring told her.

"This is such a wonderful place!" Twilight said as they regrouped at the village elders house/arena. Caring smiled as he held a small blossom tree for her in his hands, which she had bought. Rarity smiled, as Spike had gotten to the entrance, holding all the souvenirs they bought while they were there.

"Why do these presents gotta be so... Heavy...?!" Spike muttered. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had also gotten back, along with Pinkie and Applejack. As they waited outside, a young, yet elderly looking figure had came out of the doors of the entrance.

"Greetings, Princess Twilight. My name is Shasmir, and I am the elder of Hana No Mura. Please come inside if you wish to relax." Shasmir introduced, stepping aside so they can enter.

Twilight had sipped a little bit of a rich and tasty cup of Tea while they sat with the village elder. Having pillows for their feet to crisscross over while they sat down, along with the comforting floor padding that surrounded their ground level.

"This is some amazing tea." Twilight noted to Shasmir. He smiled a bit as he ate some rice and noodles.

"I'm glad you enjoy our tea, it was the original elder's recipe." Shasmir informed her with a bit of a history lesson.

"Really? Well I'm glad that-" As Twilight was in the middle of her sentence, a small boom was heard outside, as small shadows crept through the village. "Oh no..." Twilight thought deep. It may be their darkest hour yet.

"H-how did.... HOW DID THEY FIND US HERE!?" Shasmir stuttered, like he knew what was going on all this time.

Protect The Village!

Twilight had looked at Shasmir when he had been shocked that these strange, shadowy creatures had invaded Hana No Mura. "Wait a second. You know these thing?!" The young princess said in a bit of shock. Shasmir had been in shock as well, before turning his head to her.

"OF COURSE I DO! These 'things' are the shadows of people way before our time, brought back, knowing one objective and nothing else. This objective? Destroy towns and villages, Corrupt the souls of others, and Take Over civilizations long lost to rebuild their numbers. They were given many names, but the one they were known by most... Shadow-lings." Shasmir explained.

Caring didn't want to sit around anymore. He got up and headed straight for the door.

"YOU WANT TO FIGHT THEM?! ARE YOU INSANE!?" The village elder was shocked by Caring's rash action as he went to the door. Caring looked into his eyes with a glare of confidence and bravery.

"It's the only thing we can do right now." He answered at last. It was silence for another five to seven minutes in the room. Twilight, who had a worried look on her face, got up, along with the others.

"I'm afraid h-he's right, S-Shasmir." Fluttershy quietly murmured. Caring had conjured a sword with his magic and grasped it tight, looking at the others who held weapons like he did. "Now, when these doors open, we must be ready to fight anything that attacks us or others. Are we all in agreement?" Caring had seemed to be giving motivation to them, as the room was about silent for three minutes, as the shadow-lings started to slowly seep into the elders house.

"I guess we have no choice. So yes." Spike finally answered.

They busted out the door and started to fight them off. Fluttershy showed some signs of aggression while fighting them, but showed some signs of sadness while destroying them as well. Rainbow didn't hold back, as she took them down with her swift yet strong movements The Element of Loyalty had on display, As the others fought in small groups, fending them off and leading the survivors to safety.

"Flutter, I didn't know you could be this aggressive. But its working." Rainbow noted as they fought more off together. Flutter let out a small sigh and continued fighting as well.

"Sometimes you have to let loose of the bottled anger you keep deep inside of your soul." She replied shortly after.

As the shadow-lings slowly started to retreat, Twilight looked at the burned and destroyed village that surrounded them.

"We have to lead everyone as far away from here as possible. You must get negotiations with the Princesses before this gets out of hand and see what we can do to fight them off." Shasmir told her, like it was the only viable thing he could come up with.

"... Your right. Alright, lead your people to Canterlot, it's the only place they can truly be safe." Twilight replied in a calm sense of manner. Shasmir nodded his head and lead the people to Canterlot, along with Twilight.

A young boy, who had blue hair with a small streak of light purple going through it, and wore a Polo, Jeans, and Tennis Shoes, had rushed home after seeing the fires and destruction coming from the village. He looked all over for something, or... Someone. As he approached his destroyed house, he checked around to see if his adoptive father was still around the area. While walking, he found a small necklace. He knew this necklace that was in front of his destroyed home, and got on his knees in grief.

"N-no.... No.... This can't be....!!" He muttered, slowly starting to cry. After a brief moment of sadness, he wiped his tears off with a small cloth he kept in his pocket, and looked around. He had saw Twilight from a distance, going through the village gates, as the shadow-lings began to follow the group. He felt furious when he saw this. "It was her.... They would only follow whoever had summoned them, or by order. She must have ordered them in a small group to follow....!" He thought deeply, frustrated. "Whoever you are, whatever your goal is... I will not let you retrieve it. I will avenge my adoptive father and all those who died in the village... BY KILLING YOU." He muttered, taking another route to Canterlot.

Celestia's Negotiations

Twilight, Shasmir, and friends had lead the survivors of Hana No Mura to Canterlot, as they took the train ride to get there. When they arrived, Shasmir had lead them to a shelter, which the Canterlot guards had set up for survivors coming in from the train station by order of Celestia.

"I'll meet up with you when I get the survivors settled in." Shasmir told Twilight when they had arrived. She nodded her head in agreement and went to Celestia's castle with Caring, Spike and their friends. In arrival of the group, Twilight told the guard she needed to speak with Celestia, Luna and Cadence. The guards let Twilight and her friends in after she had said that.

"Hmm... These shadow-lings have been known to cause trouble for ages. They have almost caused the destruction of the castle in Everfree Forest, before it was destroyed. They have also been known to cause the strange shadowy clouds hovering over there too. We had to put a magic seal in a dark, abandoned cavern that lead to their world. But how.... How could have they come back after years of being sealed off?" Celestia had told Twilight and her friends, sighing in a bit of stress and trouble.

Caring looked at Twilight before turning his attention to Celestia.

"Do you think someone may have broken the seal you put on the cavern, or that they could have found another entry to our world?" A worried Caring asked Celestia. She had seemed to be in a state of shock, looking down before turning her attention back at them.

"The seal is nearly impossible to break, unless someone had the power to do so. But on top of that, they might have created another mirror-like portal that leads to The Endless Night Realm.... Somewhere, I fear that the Shadow-lings have a new master, but who?" She looked worried, as did the rest of the group.

"We have to send out scouts and troops. If we don't find out where exactly they hide, they may.... overtake our whole world...." Spike murmured a bit. Luna and Cadence, who had been silent from the start, looked at each other after looking at him.

"Sister, I believe he's more than right. There aren't enough people in the world with the power to fight off their massive groups, but if we scout nearby areas we may have an advantage." Luna noted as she got up and looked at her with a serious look on her face. Cadence slowly got up too.

"Do you think any of our old enemies had been possessed by them?" She asked. Twilight had stood up as well, knowing the horrid memories they had with old enemies such as Chrysalis, Tirek, etc.

"How could have any of them got in possession? Chrysalis and Discord are reformed so not even the slightest dark can corrupt them, Tirek is nowhere to be found or heard of after our, and Sombra is slowly recovering in The Prisoner's Void. To my knowledge they are all stronger than they are." The young princess noted. Celestia was in agreement with this, along with Luna and Cadence.

"I guess your right, but we must send our scouts as soon as possible." Celestia finally said after a sudden silence that fell over the room. "Luna, inform the captain to send the scouts at once." Luna nodded in agreement and went on her way.

Boy from the Village

Just as Luna came back to the conference room, the meeting was officially adjourned. Twilight, Celestia, and the rest of the group had left the room, going to the throne room.

"I really hope this plan works." Twilight told Celestia as they walked together to the throne room with their friends.

"If it doesn't, at least we'll able to know their location when we strike again. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices in battles to win once and for all in war." Celestia replied in a firm voice. Twilight was silent for a moment before nodding in agreement.

"We should tell everyone about this." Caring noted. As He and Spike opened the door to the throne room for everyone else, it was revealed that the Shadow-lings had invaded the area.

"What?! How!?" Spike was stunned by this as he muttered those words quietly. They were all in shock as they saw the shady creatures attacking the throne room. Shasmir was lying on the floor near one of them, knocked out.

The shadow-lings had slowly turned their attention to Twilight, Caring, Spike, and the rest of the group, and began to charge. The group had took cover due to fear. Just as they thought this could be their final moments in the world, the young boy from Hana No Mura, who had been chasing the group, dashed in and started to fight them, wielding an ebony colored short sword, slashing and slicing them to pieces with quick movement. He showed no hesitation to put these shadows to rest once more. It only took a few moments to finish them all. Twilight slowly moved from her defense position and out into the throne room to confront him.

"H-how did you.... Get in here, and stop them so fast...?" Twilight asked him. The boy was silent, before pointing the edge of the blade at her.

"Why should I answer to the person that took everything away from me? Hana No Mura, My home, my step father... All gone. Because of them.... AND YOU!" He began attacking her, holding nothing back.

Twilight quickly pulled out her sword as she was getting slashed at by this mysterious, 14-year-old boy, defending herself against him. "What are you talking about?! I didn't summon them!" Twilight tried to reason with him as she blocked shot from shot, coming back with attacks of her own.

"YOU LIAR! HE WOULD STILL BE ALIVE IF THEY WEREN'T SUMMONED!" He shouted. Just as they kept battling, Caring came out of nowhere and tackled him, nearly knocking the boy out. The rest came out as well.

"Nobody hurts my girlfriend...!" Caring muttered.

The boy slowly got up, as well did Shasmir. The boy was furious when he saw Shasmir, and had slowly lifted him off the ground with his magic.

"You..... You were suppose to keep us safe, but you let them come in! You were the Gatekeeper of the Dark Rift Prison!" This boy had talent in magic, but Caring and Twilight pulled him down with theirs.

"You should know vengeance isn't the answer to anything anymore...." Flutter mumbled a bit.

"No... He's right. I didn't do what I was hired to do, and that was keep them from coming from the portal." Shasmir explained in a calm voice, "The army can't stop them... Only the unknown chosen one can." He carried on.

"... So all of this.... Wasn't worth it...? This happens every time I get enraged and feel pain..." The boy had revealed a mark on his face. He was silent for a moment. ".... This is a darkness cursed onto me since the day I was born... Now I'll never be the same... And I almost killed someone... How am I able to forgive myself....?! How am I able to fight this demon inside me....?!" He sighed.

The room was filled with silence before the boy started getting up and slowly walking away, before throwing a star-shaped necklace with a small black gem near the group. "I never knew my real father, but I had a feeling that you could have." He explained. Twilight gazed at it a bit before gaining a small flashback of Sombra and what he had done before.

"... Wait a minute. I know this necklace. It somehow reminds me of when we fought with Sombra..." Twilight explained. The boy wanted a straight answer, and not a whole lecture.

"Could you tell me!?" He sighed. Celestia looked at him and sighed.

"... I just need to know a few things first. How long did you have that necklace?" Celestia asked. The boy sighed and looked at her.

"Since I was adopted... I was half a year old before my father left me." Celestia thought about this deeply as the boy explained.

"Who was your mother?" She continued to ask.

".... Her name was Silver Moon... Thats all I remember." He continued. Twilight gasped a little.

"Was she a ruler? Did she and Sombra attempt to rule at one point?" Twilight asked.

".... She died while she gave birth to me, which was believed to fill him with rage..." He explained. They were all in shock at the boy, and some of them started to tear up a bit as he stood silently.

".... Your... Your Sombra's son..." Celestia muttered. The boy was in shock when he heard this.

"One more thing.... What is your name?" Twilight asked him. He stood silently before sighing.

".... Mokuba." The boy finally answered.

"Caring, Twilight, take Mokuba with you and find Sombra. I know where he is." Celestia requested.

Reunion

After Celestia had told where Twilight, Caring, and Mokuba to go, they made short work of getting there. The prison's name was "The Prisoner's Void," because of the many different inmates they had in there, as it were... Out-Of-This-World. The young boy from the village was silent as they walked together.

"She didn't tell us what cell he'd be in..." Twilight noted, looking at the both of them.

"Would she really expect us to ask the guards?" Caring replied in a calm and stern voice. While the two talked, Mokuba closed his eyes and took a deep breath. In a matter of seconds he knew where Sombra was, like he could use his power to find out where he was.

".... Basement level 3, highest security cell." He finally said to stop the two from going into a long conversation. The two were silent for a moment, but Twilight smiled a bit.

"I'm guessing that's where he is. Let's go." She finally said as they continued walking again.

One of the security guards was near that cell when they arrived at the 3rd basement level.

"I cannot let you go any further without permission from higher power." He said. The 14-year-old village boy had looked at both Caring and Twilight before looking at the guard.

"Celestia's orders for interview and investigation." He told him, handing a paper with the permission on it. Upon seeing that paper, the guard unlocked the door, which lead down to the hall where Sombra's cell was. They began to walk down the hall way and by the cell entrance.

"Do you wanna go first or..." Twilight asked Mokuba. "

You first." He answered. Twilight nodded in agreement and opened the cell door, where Sombra had a straight jacket on and was sitting at a table, as security removed the Hannibal Lector-esque mask that covered his mouth.

"Hello Sombra." Twilight greeted him.

"I didn't expect you to arrive, after what you pulled.... Twilight." Sombra said. She sighed a little as Caring stepped in with her.

"You needed to be stopped. Simple as that." Caring told him with a calming voice. Sombra sighed a bit as he looked at the both of them.

"... And I understand. This is why I was sent here, wasn't it? I needed to be corrected from what had occurred. I'm glad I am in here. Anyways, what are you doing here?" Sombra had a questioning look on his face as his straight jacket was removed.

"Well...." Twilight had looked back to Mokuba, and made a small hand gesture that meant 'Come In.'

Twilight and Caring moved as Mokuba approached Sombra. There was silence that filled the room and the mind and heart of Sombra, as he was in shock. A tear rolled down his face as he looked at Mokuba.

".....I-I never thought I'd meet you again.... Son..." He said at last. As this occurred, Twilight and Caring stayed quiet and watched. Sombra gave Mokuba a hug as he slowly approached him.

"... Why did you leave me in the village....?" Mokuba asked as a small tear rolled down the 14-year-old's face.

"It was for your safety.... I didn't want you growing up in here or some orphanage, or the open world where the worst of monsters could get you. I wanted the best for you." Sombra told him.

Twilight teared up while she watched this heart-felt reunion between father and son. Sombra had put both hands on his shoulders and looked at him.

"I only wanted to see you become a better person.... I didn't want you in my shoes...." Sombra was still in tears, as if he felt something inside of him for the first time in his life. He felt more than just the sadness and memory, he felt... Alive. "

I'm glad I finally got to meet you, father...." Mokuba finally said, wiping the tears off of his face. They both smiled.

As Caring and Twilight approached them, Sombra looked at the both of them, smiling.

"... Twilight.... Caring.... Thank you for find him for me..." Sombra said, having a small tear roll down his face. "Your welcome." The young princess replied in a polite voice. Sombra looked at Twilight. "I've heard of the Shadow-lings outbreak... Apparently they escaped the Prison and seal that held them back, and made the castle ruins in the Everfree Forest their territory. In Celestia's relic chamber, there should be a sword my son is only able to wield, since it was made from both the dark and light." Sombra told them.

"What does it do?" She asked.

"The sword is enchanted, forged from a dragon diamond, which makes it more powerful than any metal out there, and, since the diamond was enchanted, will let him use elemental magic on the sword. The swords name is Monoceros." Sombra replied in a calm voice.

"Interesting. Mokuba are you ready or do you want to stay here a little bit more?" She asked, looking at Mokuba.

"I'm ready..." He answered, and began leaving the prison with them.

Monoceros

View Online

The group of Twilight, Caring, and Mokuba had left the prison and back to Celestia's castle to tell her how they can stop the Shadow-lings from destroying Equistera. Knowing that they had grown in numbers, it had appeared that Monoceros, the sword kept locked away in Celestia's relic chamber, and the combined power of the Elements of Harmony, was their weakness. As they had arrived at her castle, Mokuba had stepped forth to deliver the news.

"Princess Celestia, we've found our answer on my family and how to stop the Shadow-lings." He greeted in a stern voice.

"How so, young child?" She questioned. Mokuba looked back at Twilight before turning his attention to Celestia.

"We need the elements of harmony, and the sword you kept locked away in the relic chamber." As he answered, Celestia had a shocked look on her face.

"Monoceros....?! How are you going to be able to use that?" She was confused and shocked at the same time. No one had been able to use it because of the elemental alignment they were under.

"Since I am both a being of light and dark, I am the only one who can wield it's power. I've practiced my magic enough to use any type of element." He replied in a calming voice. Celestia took that to mind, as the room was silent for a while.

"I see. If you need it, I shall allow you to take it." She finally said. Mokuba smiled and went with Caring and Twilight to get the sword.

As they approached the swords pedestal, Twilight looked at Mokuba with a concerned look on her face.

"So... Are you ready?" She asked. Mokuba nodded his head in agreement and went to the pedestal. He grasped the grip of the sword and slowly pulled it out. Suddenly, a dim light shined from the pedestal as he lifted it out, and it had returned from its stoned state to its normal state.

"Now, lets go save Equistera once and for all..." He said.

The Attack

Injured scouts came through the doors of Celestia's castle, as one of them had collapsed from damage and exhaustion. The others had been taken to be healed, as the captain of the scouts approached Celestia. He was weak, and looked like he was about to kick the bucket.

"M-Milady Celestia.... we have f-found the... Shadow-lings territory... Send your.... Remaining heroes.... to the castle ruins of.... Everfree..." He panted before passing out. Two of the guards helped the guard get to a hospital bed inside the castle. Before long, Mokuba, Caring and Twilight came out with Mokuba's new sword, Monoceros.

"Twilight, Caring, get the Elements of Harmony and bring Mokuba to the Castle Ruins at the end of Everfree Forest. That's where the Shadow-lings are coming from." Celestia told them. Twilight nodded and got her friends. She hoped this would end well.

"Alright, There is a whole army coming through the main doors of the abandoned castle, and if we storm there we get overwhelmed. However, due to the castle being very old, they have a giant opening to the 4th floor, and their portal and commander will be coming from the 5th floor. We shut the portal down here and eliminate their leader, the portals that were spawned all across Equistera will shut down and all the Shadow-lings will vanish. Understood?" Mokuba rallied them before they were to enter the castle ruins. They all nodded their heads in agreement and went to where Mokuba lead them.

Mokuba, Caring and Twilight used their magic to make a small levitating platform that lead to the giant hole in the walls of the 4th floor. Mokuba began to focus up on what was to come, and as they arrived at the giant hole in the 4th floor, he, alongside the Elements of Harmony and Caring, stormed the 4th floor. They began making short work of the Shadow-lings to fight their way to the 5th floor. Using his new sword, Mokuba finished off hordes of Shadow-lings with ease.

They fought their way to the 5th floor, as they arrived, there was a gateway portal to the room.

"Alright, once we get in, we'll have to storm their leader. Are you guys ready?" Twilight asked, and they all nodded in agreement, taking the gateway portal to the throne room of the abandoned castle.

The Shadow King

The arrival at the fifth floor throne room had kept Mokuba, Caring, Twilight and the rest on their guard. They had walked through the portal which lead to a hallway. The group walked down together before arriving at the throne room's doors.

"When we get in and they focus on us, everyone begin to attack. Got it?" Mokuba told them with a stern-yet-encouraging voice. They nodded their heads in agreement and opens the doors. To their surprise, the room was empty besides the Shadow-lings resting on the walls as little shades. The throne was cursed and occupied by an elderly figure. Mokuba was in shock when he found out who it was, along with everyone else.

"S-S-Shasmir?! Your THEIR leader!?" He exclaimed in surprise. Shasmir was cursed, as there was shadowy marks all over his body, and his eyes glowed dark purple.

"I HAD A FEELING YOU WOULD SHOW, SON OF SOMBRA." The cursed elder said in a dark, echoing and terrifying voice. "I SHALL NOT ALLOW YOU TO DESTROY THE CORE OF THE PORTAL. EQUISTERA.... IS THEIR HOME NOW!" He slowly extended his hand, waving it slowly, and the shadows switched from resting mode to attack mode. Twilight, Caring, Mokuba and the others had held them all off.

"WE WON'T ALLOW YOU TO TAKE EQUISTERA!" Caring shouted as he slayed countless shadows. They kept fighting until the shadows were no longer. Then, Shasmir summoned a shadow of.... MOKUBA?!

"T-that's... THAT'S ME! But how?!" He said in shock. "NO TIME FOR TALK. FINISH THEM NOW!" Shasmir said, and the shadow attacked Mokuba.

Mokuba's reaction was fast, as he pulled out Monoceros and began fighting off the shadow of himself. One wrong mistake for him and it was over, but he could say the same for this evil shadow of himself. They collided blades, clashing and trying to slash the skin of one another. Mokuba realized the one mistake he and the shadow couldn't do to counter... Dodge roll-Attack. As Mokuba blocked the next swing from his shadow's sword, he jumped back, dodge rolled and swung his sword perfectly at the shadow's head. The shadow tried to counter but with the hit of Mokuba's blade, the shadow's head was decapitated. Twilight, Caring and his friends were chained to the wall by shadow as Shasmir approached.

"EXCELLENT WORK, SOMBRA'S OFFSPRING. NOW I SHALL GIVE YOU A CHOICE. JOIN ME, JOIN THE SHADOWS, TOGETHER WE SHALL TAKE OVER EQUISTERA. USE YOUR AGGRESSIVE FEELINGS AND STRIKE YOUR SO CALLED FRIENDS DOWN. LET THE HATE FLOW THROUGH YOU!" Shasmir moaned.

Mokuba was silent for a moment, looking back at his friends before looking at Shasmir.

"... Never. I've already made myself sworn to protecting the world I grew up in. I won't let you destroy it. You've lost. Give in, Shasmir." Mokuba answered. Shasmir had gotten angry at this.

"THEN YOU SHALL DIE!" He exclaimed, jumping back and starting to electrocute him. Mokuba tried to block with Monoceros, but when too much damage came to it, it broke. He moaned and yelled in excruciating pain.

"No... NO!" Caring yelled, breaking the shadows on his friends and running to Mokuba. Shasmir saw him and blasted him back, knocking him out cold.

"CARING!" The elements said with a scared manner.

"T-Twilight... I need the elements power.... I-I won't last l-longer without tapping into i-its powers!" Mokuba was still getting shocked but reached out to Twilight. Twilight nodded in agreement and teamed with the other elements to power up Mokuba. He began to glow as he absorbed the powers of the elements, as Monoceros reformed to a more powerful form, and Mokuba appeared, fully powered by the elements and his power, into a new form.

"Wow... He's reformed into a new form!" Twilight gasped, looking in amazement.

"This is the power.... OF THE NEO-STAR KNIGHT!" Mokuba said, firing a giant multicolored beam from his sword.

Shasmir fired one of his own, but could not defeat it's power. "THIS ISN'T POSSIBLE! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Shasmir said, fading away to the laser. As Mokuba turned back to his original state, he passed out due to exhaustion.

Darkness. That's what surrounded Mokuba as he looked around. Where was he? All he could remember was defeating Shasmir and passing out, but now it looked like he was in a totally different place. Mokuba kept looking, and he could find his memories floating around when he traversed the darkness.

"This is... My heart? The light and darkness surrounding it with everything I remember?" He thought as he looked around the dark plains. Then, with a flash, a beacon of light was formed around him and grew a giant pillar and platform.

"You have established your name in the dark and the light. Very good, young one." A voice called out to him as Mokuba was surprised by the platform that grew from under his feet.

"W-who are you...?" He stutters a little as he smiled, a tear of joy rolling down his face, dripping on the beautiful and indestructible glass that was at where he stood on the pillar - at the very top.

"I am but a mere spirit that travels these realms. This world is full of many opportunities, but I feel you've already chosen carefully. The path between the dark and light, the hero and guardian of the power which you hold. The powers of Dawn, Dusk and Spirits. It can be a new era, which will be established with these powers. My best of luck to you, young-ling." The voice continued. Before long, it stopped, as a small instrumental beat is heard, as a small sheet of lyrics appear in front of Mokuba. Before long he began to chant an unknown saying.

"Spirits, Guide my hands,

Show me power of forgotten lands,

Not Dark, Nor Light, shall ruin my might

As I wield The Bane of Light, using an Edge of Night,

Power and Wisdom leads my soul,

Hope shall show me a new toll."

Before long a light surrounded him, and he slowly woke up in a bed, back in Celestia's castle. Twilight had opened the door to check on him, and was shocked as he woke up, rushing to him.

"Oh thank Celestia your okay! I knew my spirit would come and find you in your heart!" She cried in tears of joy as she hugged him tightly.

"T-Twilight... thank you so much.... But is Caring okay?" He murmured, looking at her.

"He's okay. I'm just glad this is all over." She sighed. "You should heal before you see Celestia." She smiled and left the room.

"Remember those lyrics, and it shall be the song that changes Equistera." The voice that Twilight summoned said to him. He smiled and got out of bed slowly, walking to the throne room.

Ceremony Of Heroes

Mokuba had walked down the halls of Celestia's castle, quiet and alone. During his walk to the throne room, he had the lyrics of the song going through his head. It wasn't long before he arrived in the throne room.

"Ah, your here." Celestia greeted with pride. The boy smiled a little but kept quiet. "The ceremony will begin shortly." The princess continued, "Right this way." She lead him to the garden outside. Mokuba kept his calm smile as they walked together. As they arrived outside, Mokuba was approached by Rainbow Dash.

"Hey, um.... Can we talk for a minute?" She asked calmly, looking into his eyes

"Sure." Mokuba replied. The energetic lady lead him to a private area where they could talk alone.

"What is it?" He asked. Rainbow smiled a little when looking at him.

"Well.... I wanted to give you a little gift. Could you close your eyes for me?" She giggled a little.

"Alright...." Mokuba sighed, closing his eyes. As Dash finished her cute giggle, she gave him a peck on the cheek. When Mokuba felt it, he blushed a deep red. Dash also blushed, smiling a little. There was silence that surrounded them. Mokuba then gave her a long kiss on the lips, and she held it. As Dash let it go, she blushed the same deep red Mokuba had on his face, still smiling. The 14-year-old smiled shyly and cutely. About 3 minutes later, they went back to the ceremony just as it was about to start.

"Today we celebrate these heroes for their courageous actions, for destroying an emperor of monstrous beings, and for saving Equistera in its time of need. To Twilight and her companions, on behalf of all of Equistera, I say.... Thank You All." Celestia spoke to the crowd and the group that had destroyed Shasmir and the Shadow-lings. They were awarded with a beautiful firework show during the night. It wasn't long before they all went home. Mokuba was offered to stay with Rainbow for a while until he could get a house, and he gladly accepted.

Things were beginning to look up for everyone. And this was truly... The dawn of a young star in the spirit of a 14 year old boy.
