Many strange happenings go on at Canterlot High, and no one seems to take notice of this. Who has been keeping all this quiet?

This is the first in 3 part series I plan to do, The Dawn follows the Sunset is the first in the 3 parter. It follows the 3 Equestria Girls movies, maybe a fourth if the next movie comes out. Each part of the series will be 7-10 chapters maybe more depending on how things go. But I hope you enjoy it and leave some likes!

Canterlot High a normally peaceful highschool, where nothing strange ever seems to happen. Well to people outside the school it all seems normal, but on the inside magic exist, sirens, girls with ears and wings. How isn't this all over the newspapers, new channels, or the internet? Someone must be keeping all this quiet...

Chapter 1: The Dawn of a New Day

A cold fall day, a day where the leaves start to change to their beautiful reds, yellows, and light colored browns. A normal everyday high school stood in the glow of the setting sun, it’s window ablaze with the last light of the day. The statue of a colt stood proudly out front the schools courtyard, the eyes gazing into the blinding red light. As if watching the last of the light disappear from sight, as it watches another figure from the shadow of the building watches the sun set as well. It’s hood covering it’s head as it leaned on the corner of the school building, as the suns light fully disappeared over the horizon of buildings and houses in the distance the figure turned its gaze to the statue now engulfed in darkness.

“It should be soon…” The figure said in a hush to the darkness around it, it brought its hand to the hood sliding it under the hood before pressing on something that had a small click. It spoke once again in a hushed tone…

“1900, nothing to report so far. The portal rema…” The voice died as it’s eyes set on the ripples that formed on the surface of the pedestal wall closest to the school. The figure took a step back to hide around the corner but stood out enough to be able to set the statue.
1901, portal is being opened standby…” It said paying close attention to the wall, eyes gazing the wall a figure suddenly flew out making the figure move further behind the wall to avoid being seen. It remained out of sight listening carefully for anything…

“Ouch… rough landing” A female voice said, the figure peeked out looking at a female figure. She wore a short skirt that was just above the knees, it was mostly a shade of orange with a yellow and purple stripe on the side. Black boots that rode up almost uncomfortably high at least to the figure it looked uncomfortable, they were black except for a small amount of purple on the front of both boots. A black leather jacket that was zipped up to keep the cold out a bit, though in a skirt the figure doubted it was too warm for the girl. The female figure gazed up at the school, though the hidden figure couldn’t make out any facial features it noted that her hair was crimson color with a several yellow stripes going through it, and her skin was a nice shade of amber.

“Figure is female… age appears to maybe be 16. Could be wrong, is dressed like a high school. Boo…hold on target is moving.” The figure said, it was true the female was moving over in the hidden figures direction. The figure quickly moved away from the corner of the school to the soccer field that laid next to the school. There was an equipment shed beside the field, the figure slide behind the shed without a sound as the female peeked around the corner.

“I thought I heard somepony…” The female said, “Somepony?” the hidden figure thought. She’s defiantly not from this world, plus she’s slow. The figure had to move 200 feet to reach the shed, she only had to move 50 to reach the corner. The girl stepped out a bit shaky holding the corner of the wall for support, using the shadow of the shed the figure peeked out at the girl this time taking in her features.

“Small nose, slender facial structure, cya…” The figure pause as it gazed into the female’s eyes, they were a beautiful shade of cyan. That seemed to match her hair perfectly, the shadowy figure just stood there looking into her eyes before a voice in its ear said something.

“Agent, say that again? You cut off.” The voice said, the ‘Agent’ moved behind the shed fully sliding a hand under the hood to press the button on an ear piece. Speaking in a hushed voice. “Had to retreat, female almost spotted me.” The ‘Agent’ said, peeking out once more the female was now kneeling on the grass running her hands over the wet grass before grabbing a handful and ripping it out of the ground. A few loose blades slipped free falling onto her amber colored knees, she then slowly opened her hands to watch the grass fall completely free like it was alien to her.

“I’ll have to get used to using these.” She said in a slightly confused tone, but she slipped something off her shoulders slowly taking several glances around her. The ‘Agent’ squinted his/her eyes straining to see what it was only to realized it was a backpack, how’d he/she not notice that when she exited the portal. She opened the back reaching in only to pull out a medium sized bag, what kind of bag the ‘Agent’ couldn’t tell. But the figure could faintly make out the sound of coins moving around together.

“Quarters? No what were those coins called? Bits? Bits, I believe they are called.” The figure thought as they watched without a sound, as they did the ear piece came back on.

“Agent status?” The voice said sounding slightly inpatient, sliding their hand under the hood once more they pressed the button.
“Target is MIA, repeat MIA…I shall be returning to base shorty. Will update then.” The figure said quietly, the voice cussed silently before confirming with a “Roger, have your report by tomorrow morning. Nightlight, turning off.” The voice said going silent for good, the figure took the earpiece out before sliding it into the hoodie pocket. Peeking out once more at the girl, who had now disappeared from sight. The figure blinked several times before moving away from the shed to the corner of the school.

“Where did she go?” He/she said silently, once again taking a peek at the statue. Negative, nothing. Crap, the figure looked to the road faintly making out someone moving across the road slowly. “Found you” the figure mumbled before moving away from the wall, in hot pursuit of the girl. Swiftly crossing the road it hid behind a fence listening carefully.

“No pony is around, good… I look like a drunk foal right now.” She said slightly aggravated with herself, the figure peeked around the corner.
“Foal? Does that mean fool in Equestria?” The figure thought raising an eyebrow, it swiftly moved to the front of a car ducking down without a sound. As he/she peeked out it quickly ducked down, the girl was looking in the direction of the car.

“I feel like somepony is following me…” She said before taking a few shaky steps toward the car, she quickly moved to the front looking in the spot the figure was only no one was there. She stood up scratching her head for a moment, before looking around.

“Maybe Celestia, sent somepony after me…” She shook her head a few times before continuing on her path down the sidewalk. Going right past the figure who was pressed up behind the car, without being noticed she passed right by. It watched her silently, then moved from the car to a nearby blue mail box.

“Celestia? Princess Celestia?” The ‘Agent’ thought as it watched the girl turn the corner, moving quickly to the corner it peeked around seeing the girl crossing the road. As she did a loud screech was heard from down the road, eyes snapping to a speeding car flew down the street in both the girls direction and the figures.

“Look out!” The figure yelled out, the girls eyes snapped right to the car. She stood there frozen for a moment before she tried to jump out of the way only to trip over her own boots. Not waiting, the figure moved away from corner without a second thought.

“Shit!” Cussed the ‘Agent’ as it moved toward the girl, she looked up before her eyes widen in panic. She tried to push herself to her feet, in a kneel position she tried to crawl away only for the figure slip it’s hands around her arms with a sudden jerk it pulled her out of the way just as the car sped by. Falling back, the figure landed flat on it’s butt, the back of the girls head slammed into the figures chest knocking the air out of it’s lung. Coughing slightly, it released one of her arms to try and cover it’s mouth. The other held her arm tightly, the girl hit the figure several times in the shoulder trying to get free.

“I’m not going back! She won’t keep me from my destiny!” The girl screamed out, the figure released her standing up swiftly. It stared down at her quietly before snapping eyes to a shop that was still open, the owner came out with a broom.

“Hey you okay kid!?” The fat owner said, the girls eyes snapped to the man then to the figure only they were was gone. Her eyes searched the streets only seeing the large owner, some more people came out to see who was yelling but the figure was nowhere to be seen. The man came over to her offering a hand to help her up, she looked at it for a moment before placing her hand awkwardly into the mans. Pulling her up, he noticed she had a small cut on her amber colored knee.

“Oh your hurt why don’t you come in, I got a first aid kit you can use.” He said walking in the direction of the store, she followed slowly after him. As she reached the door she looked around once more seeing no one she cautiously entered the store to get patched up…

…..
…….

“Who was she talking about? Princess Celestia? Destiny?” The figure said as it watched from the shadow of a nearby alley, it’s eyes followed the amber colored girl to the shop. As she went out of sight the figure reached into it’s pocket taking out the earpiece looking it over, clicking the earpiece on. The light turned on indicating it was ready, for a moment the figure thought about reporting this.

“No… I better not” It said turning the piece off, it dropped the earpiece before stomping hard on it to shatter the piece.

“They can’t track it now…” It mumbled before sliding the hood back, revealing their features to no one but the surrounding darkness. Turning on their heels they ran down the alley, jumping onto a dumpster they quickly scaled the fence beside the dumpster. As they hopped over the fence they disappeared into the darkness…

Chapter 2: The Council Meeting

A hammer pounded on a large wooden table that was in the shape of a large circle, in the center was a much smaller table that had lights surrounding it. Though the lights were off at the moment, the only lights on was a large chandelier that hung above the two tables. The ceiling was high enough to where you could fit a bus standing on its front and back. As the hammer pounded on the table at one end several hooded figures all sat down at their spots. Though a few seats were empty showing not all members were in attendance at the moment.

“This council meeting is now in order.” The figure with the hammer said, setting the hammer down they pushed their hood back revealing an elder man most likely in his late 50’s. He had a beard that was a few inches long, his hair was shaved about half an inch long but it was still thick showing no signs of balding. A few other members slid their hoods back, a man wearing wire frame glasses that was sitting nicely on his nose smiled at his fellow members. One member had his eyes closed tightly, he wore sunglasses and there was a cane beside his chair showing he was blind. A woman with long red hair looked very bored, she looked the youngest out of the members yet to reveal themselves. The rest kept their hoods up, the old man sat down at the table. A hooded man beside him stood up raising a hand to his mouth coughing lightly.

“Welcome my brothers and sisters, we are here to discuss a certain young lady that has entered our world from Equestria.” He said knowingly, a few members mumbled under their breath some appearing surprised by this news. One hooded figure stood up. “What do you mean one has entered our world, we have no had contact from anyone in over 500 years” He said seeming rather unhappy with this bit of news, the man who first spoke raised his hand to calm the unhappy person.

“Now now brother Wave Rider while this is true that we haven’t spoken in forever to a pony from Equestria our radar had picked them up entering the portal a day ago. We had dispatched one Agent to the scene to confirm this, though we believe they only entered the first time to make sure they could.” The hooded man said, Wave Rider sat down after hearing this. The red head this time stood up pointing to the spot that was empty on the other side of the old man who used the hammer.

“Is that where they went?” She said, the man nodded once before continuing to speak. “Why send them, they have no business being there. They aren’t ready!” She said raising her voice in annoyance. “We have several well trained men and women who could a handled it, they are just a greenhorn!” The hooded man raised his hand once again to silence her, she slowly sat back down in annoyance.

“They were best suited for the mission, they are young yes but they were best because if anyone spotted them on the school grounds. They wouldn’t ask questions last thing we need are for police to be involved.” The man said before turning to look at the empty seat, as he did the doors behind him opened up. Another hooded figure walked out holding a large book under one arm, closing the door quietly they took their spot beside the old man in the empty spot the red head pointed to.

“I apologize for being late, I was searching for something” They said before setting the book down beside them on an empty chair, the hooded man continued to speak. “Welcome little brother, I hope your bringing us good news.” The man said, the new figure nodded once before standing up. The other sat down letting them speak, the ‘Agent’ cleared their throat before speaking.

“At 1901, the portal was opened up and a lone female came out. She appeared young, perhaps highschool age. If I had not seen her come right out of the portal I would have most likely mistaken her for one of the students. As I begin my report to Nightlight she had heard me, as she came over I retreated to a few hundred feet away.” They said, the man with the wire frame glasses folded his hands in front of his face so only the top half of his face could be seen. “Were you compromised?” He said, the standing figure simply shook their head before continuing to speak.

“No brother Nightlight, she was clumsy with her steps so I had a good head start on her before she even got a few feet. I was forced to hide behind the sport shed, as I continued my report to you she took out a large bag of ‘Bits’.” The figure said, the blind man spoke this time. “Bits? You mean that she plans to live here?” He said not even bothering to turn in the figures direction, the figure stood up fully as they stepped away from the chair walking around the table.

“I believe that is her intention Blindside, the bag seemed full. Maybe around…. Half a million in gold bits. Enough to last a few years in our world.” They said as they passed by the man named Blindside, they continued to walk around the table slowly. “Unfortunately when I stepped aside to continue my report she had slipped away.” They said, the red head stood up in annoyance once again.

“So you lost them!?” She shouted at the figure, they paused for a moment before nodding once continuing their path around the table. “I knew you weren’t ready!” She screamed out, the man who sat down as the ‘Agent’ stood up raised his hand. “Sister Firey please settle yourself, or I will be forced to have you removed” The man said, Firey as the red head was called looked angrily at the man.

“Don’t tell me to calm down, I told you they were weren’t ready yet. We should have sent one of mine, that’s what I train them for!” She said, the standing figure could have sworn if they cracked an egg on her head it would fried instantly. But they finally reached their seat reaching for the book…

“The last time we let our guard down and sent weak agents the Sirens escaped our gra” A loud slam was heard as the figure dropped their book on the table, making Firey freeze almost, the figure pressed one finger to the book.

“You all know what this book is..” They said, Blindside cleared his throat. “Expect for brother Blindside, my apologies.” They said, Blindside simply waved his hand to dismiss. The figure picked up the book holding it up for all of them to clearly seen, Firey sat down slowly looking nervous at the book.

“This book has contained the laws, and rules of our order since our creation 1500 years ago when a certain someone opened the portal to this world, connecting our world to the world of Equestria. They asked our founders to help them.” The figure said lowering the book onto the table, they opened it to the first few pages. Pointing to the first paragraph.

“We exist to protect two worlds so that they can live in harmony with each other, in peace, in friendship, in love.” They said reading aloud, Firey glared at the ‘Agent’ as if they just slapped them in front of everyone. “Our laws state that in dangerous times we must take matters into our own hands to protect what we hold dear. But we are never to take a life if it can be saved, and if someone or somepony in this case wishes to live in peace. We have no right to stop them.” The ‘Agent’ said, several members nodded their heads in agreement with the statement. It was Wave Rider who stood up sighing lightly. “Do you believe that this lone female is a threat to our world?” There was a small pause before the ‘Agent’ shook their head, they then closed the book.

“No, I don’t believe she is. I believe she is here for another chance in life” ‘Agent’ said, Wave Rider raised his hand in protest for a moment. “And if she is a threat to us will you be the one to take responsibility for her actions?” Another paused before the figure nodded their head. “I will” They said, Wave Rider sat down in his spot before mumbling “I hope you know what you’re doing…” The figure who stood to calm Firey before sat down, along with the ‘Agent’. The old man with the hammer stood up slamming the table once.

“Then this meeting is over, my brothers and sister go in peace.” The old man said before leaving the hammer on the table and walking out of the room, Firey glared at the ‘Agent’ before sliding her hood up to leave. She pushed several members aside as if she was a queen on her way out the door, the man who stopped Firey earlier sighed lightly as it was him and the ‘Agent’ last in the large room.

“That wasn’t smart” The man said before pulling his hood back to reveal a gray haired man, it was done in a spikey style. He wore grey sunglasses, and had a small X shaped scar on his right cheek, his skin was a pale tanish color. The other figure looked to the man and laughed once.

“What making Princess over there angry?” They said seeming unbothered by what they did, the man looked to the figure with a frown. “You publicly embarrassed Firey, she won’t take kindly to that. Slamming our laws in front of her is the same as spitting in her face.” The man said before standing up slowly, he stretched his back out for a moment.

“Our laws clearly state” the figure said, the man glared at them a bit making them pause midsentence. “Don’t bring our laws to me, I was there when they were written.” The figure lowered their head a little in shame, before pushing the book to the man.

“Sorry Uncle.” They said before standing up as well, they walked past the man they referred to as ‘Uncle’. Their ‘Uncle’ watched them go back before picking up the book to look at the cover for a moment, as the figure opened the door ‘Uncle’ looked up.

“You let her go didn’t you?” He said, his tone already gave hints he knew the answer. The figure stood in the doorway, sighing lightly they lean in the doorway.

“Does it really matter?” They said, there was a pause before ‘Uncle’ put the book under their arm. “I suppose not, but you know that if something happens… I can’t protect you from the Orders wrath. And Firey will want you to resume your training because of this. You know that right?” Their ‘Uncle’ said watching the figure nod once.

“I know, and I understand. It’s my punishment” They said, there was another short pause before the figure asked. “Is that all you wanted to ask? Or is there more?” ‘Agent’ said, the other nodded once though the figure couldn’t see it.

“Yes, why let her go? Why risk the wrath of the others?” ‘Uncle’ asked, the figure turned around to face him. They thought about it for a moment, how to word it maybe?

“She… said something that bugged me.” They stated, the other raised an eyebrow. “What did they say?” Another paused. “I’m not going back. She won’t keep me from my destiny, those were her words. They have been bothering me greatly.” ‘Agent’ said, ‘Uncle’ gave a slightly concerned looked at this bit of news. “And why didn’t you bring this up to the others? This is kinda important” He asked his voice slightly annoyed, though the figure understood why they kept a secret from the whole order.

“Because you saw how Firey and others reacted to her just entering this world. They wanted her brought in, questioned, and worst case scenario…imprisoned” The ‘Agent’ answered, the man’s eyes soften a bit. The last part was most likely true, most of the order didn’t trust magic. Though he doubted that was the full reason why the ‘Agent’ kept this bit of new from them.

“You don’t trust your siblings do you?” He asked, the figure looked down at the ground before nodding once. This time turning on their heels to walk out. “You know why I don’t” They said before closing the door behind them, a long silence filled the room before the man looked at the book in his possession.

“I hope you know what you’re doing…”

The Dawn Follow the Sunset
Chapter 3: The New Student at CHS

“Move move move! Excuse me!”

A young man screamed out as he dodged and weaved between the crowded streets of Canterlot. Bumping into people here and there as he ran like a bat out of hell, looking behind him at the screaming people he almost knocked down. He’d scream back sorry a few times, as he reached an alley he turned quickly into it.

“Shit! Shit!” He said, looking behind him he noticed a police officer trying to move between the crowds looking for him. Panicking he quickly moved down the alley, reaching a fence too tall to jump over. And it was covered with barb wire at the top, biting his inner lip as he thought. Glancing around the alleyway he noticed a fire escape ladder that was a few feet taller than him. If he could get a boost he could reach the ladder and get over the barb wire. As he continued to look the officer ran into the alley.

“Gotcha little punk!” The teenager turned around, seeing an angry officer as he took out his handcuffs. “Hey listen, that was completely by accident I swear!” As the officer got closer the teenager saw he was covered in coffee, laughing nervously the teen backed up a bit. As the officer lunged at him, he dove to the side as he did his bag swung into the officer knocking him on the ground. The officer fell to his hands and knees, the young man smiled.

“Excuse me!” He said, running at the officer he stepped on the man’s jumping right off him. Grabbing onto the ladder he pulled himself up, he then leaped off landing in a roll on the other side of the fence. The officer grabbed the fence in anger cursing at the young man who laughed nervously. “S-Sorry sir, I’m late!” He waved bye to the officer and took off running once again, reaching into his vest jacket he took out his phone.

“7:58am! Shit!” He cursed shoving his phone in his vest he picked up the pace, seeing the school in the distance he doubled timed it. As he reached the road right in front of the school, he came to a stop as a car beeped almost hitting him. Jogging in place as several cars belonging to teachers, students, and parents dropping off their kids zoomed by not stopping. He glanced at his phone once more, 8:00am!

“Oh come on!” Backing up a bit, he lowered himself into a runner’s position. 3…2…1…Go! He counted down in head as he kicked off the ground, dodging the first car the owner shaking his fist screaming “Crazy kid!”. Another car almost hit him but came to a stop right in time, the young man jumped over the hood sliding effortlessly across it. Landing on his feet he ran up the path leading to the school, as he did he saw a young lady with pink hair rubbing her head in pain. Stopping for a moment a little surprised, he walked to her offering his hand to her.

“You okay Flutts?” He said, the young girl with pink hair looked up blushing a bit. He smiled softly at her, she turned a little red hiding behind her hair but took his hand. Standing up she looked down at something in her other hand, he released her hand looking at it. It was a golden crown with the gold leading to a purple gem six point star, it looked familiar…

“Isn’t that the Fall Formal crown?” He said, she nodded briefly “Where did it come from?” she shrugged once nervous to talk. “Oh come on Flutts we are lab partners and you still can’t talk t-?” He was about to finish his sentence til the school rang giving the final warning, his eyes widen as he took off going to the steps of the school pausing once.

“Listen Flutts, ya better get that to Princess Celestia or else they might think ya stole it!” He cried out running up the stairs leaving the pink haired girl, she looked down at the crown a bit panicked. “He’s right, oh my...” She sheepishly said, jogging after him she stopped and turned around picking up several flyers quickly…

“You’re late Mr. S-“ The young man nodded lightly cutting the teacher off. “Yes I know Miss. C. Sorry, my car is in the garage.” The young man said to his teacher, the teacher rolled her eyes at him before continuing to write on the chalkboard. The young man sat down at his seat behind a girl with cyan color skin, and a rainbow colored hair. She turned around in her seat whispering…

“D, it’s still in the garage?” She said, D glared at her. “What do you expect when a certain girl loses control of her bike and jumps off it to avoid being hurt. But instead sends the bike into my windshield, shattering it, and broke the steering wheel off? Well RD?” D said annoyed, RD turned a bit red in the face rubbing her back of her head.

“I said sorry already geez, I said I’d pay for it.” D laughed lightly “The repairs are $3000, so sure pay me.” RD’s eyes widen as a dumbfounded look spread across her face. “$3-3000?!” She stammered out loudly, only for Miss. Cheerilee to walk up while RD’s eyes were on D.

“Miss. Rainbow Dash, if there an issue?” She said in an annoyed tone, Rainbow turned around quickly laughing nervously. “Na teach everything is coooool” She said in her normal relaxed tone, a tone she’d use when she wanted to show off. Cheerilee rolled her eyes before going back to the front to continue writing on the broad. Rainbow whipped around in her chair once again glaring at him.

“You coulda told me she was coming!” She said in a whisper, D simply grabbed his school book from his bag. Opening it up he pretended to read, growling at him a bit she turned around. Her long hair almost smacking him in the face but he backed up a bit dodge it. He smirked at the back of her rainbow hair, and actually started to pay attention as first period began….

About 45 minutes later and an angry Rainbow Dash later first period ended. D had grabbed his things quickly and left the classroom, next was gym with Rainbow Dash. To make matters worse, it was dodgeball day. He was in no rush to get laid out today by her, so why not just skip it? He looked around, seeing no teachers around he moved to the boys bathroom quickly. Slipping in he tossed his bag on the sink counter and looked in the mirror.

“I look like I just woke up…” He said annoyed, running his hand threw his flame colored hair. He noticed that his orangish eyes looked tired, sighing lightly. He looked his peach colored skin over, no bags under his eyes thankful. Reaching into his olive drab vest he took his phone out, he still had 4 minutes til it was safe to leave the bathroom. Instead of stuffing it into his vest like normal he stuck it in his blue jeans, in the pocket with a star cut in half with what looked like several rays of light coming from it. Taking his vest off, he kept his black tee shirt on.
Pushing the vest into his backpack he took out a Red Stallion energy drink, pulling the tab a small hiss was heard almost echoing. Smiling he saw a faint amount of vapor rise out of the open can, blowing it once he took a long drink.

“Ahh… that’s it…” He said with a large smile, he could feel the carbonation burning his throat. The pain almost intense enough to make a tear come to his eye, a worthwhile pain in exchange for staying awake. He had after all lost his coffee to a pissed off cop, though he was planning to save his back up energy drink for lunch. He could just walk to the store nearby since he had the time now, alright he had a mission. Throwing his backpack on again, he peeked out of the bathroom door.

“Coast is clear…” He said to himself, slipping out he moved to the front entrance quickly. No teachers in sight thankfully, he’d hate to explain why he wasn’t at gym to one of them. As he got out the front door he noticed one of the students walking his dog, weird pets weren’t normally aloud on campus. Speaking of which, there was another student with their pet dog in front of the school statue. Though it was even stranger the dog is purple fur with a small tuff of green hair on top of its head. And it even had green ears…

“Poor things fur is probably dyed, though strange choice of colors” D’s eyes moved to the girl beside the dog, she looked panicked. She had dark purple hair, and a lighter shade of purple skin. Her attire was all purple as well aside from her blouse which was a shade of sky blue, and a 6 point purple star surrounded by smaller stars on her skirt. The star looked a lot like the star on the Fall Formal crown, weird. D’s eyes moved to the girl’s face, deep purple eyes full of panic…

“She must be new, never seen her before.” He said, she was on her knees freaking out as she looked at her hands. “Now she must be new, she had that new girl panic…. I think, never seen a girl freak out that badly” D thought, he walked down the front steps of the school. As he reached the bottom steps what he saw was strange, the dog was now placing a paw on the girl’s mouth to quiet her screaming. Now it looked like they were talking though he couldn’t hear it from where he was until she yelled out.

“Let’s go Spike!” She got on all fours, as her dog climbed on her back. She then started to almost gallop to the school, was this a circus performance? Was there a talent show? No that was next month, he never owned a dog but he was pretty sure that dogs walked themselves. New trend maybe? Like planking, or… God forbid twerking.

Though as the girl got halfway to him she came to a stop, then turned to see the student and his dog just staring at the circus performers. As she stared back she quickly stood up as if realizing that walking on all fours wasn’t normal. Standing up quickly she knocked the dog off her making it slam into the ground, though it quickly got up. As she stood up she shook a bit as if off balance, with a few shaky steps she walked toward him; as she got closer she grabbed the railing that led up the stairs.

“E-Excuse me, but where am I?” She asked sounding nervous, her dog right as her heels. “Canterlot Highschool?” He said as if he wasn’t sure himself, she nodded accepting the answer. “Right, and what are these?” She raised her hand up to him, the other holding on for dear life to the railing.

“Hands?” D answered, was she an escaped mental patient? She looked normal enough but her actions proved much differently, she nodded then looked thoughtful. Almost like she was learning so much, like a newborn. Her next question told him she was in fact insane “And can you tell me where to find Sunset Shimmer?” D’s eyes tensed up as he glared at the girl.

“What’s your interest in Shimmer?” The girl looked nervous now from his words, that were almost deadly sounding like saying that name was poisonous. “S-She took something from me…” She said, D’s eyes soften a bit another victim of Sunset Shimmer’s bullying. Poor girl, she’ll never get back what Shimmer stole.

“You’re new I can tell, but if Shimmer stole something from you. You won’t get it back, now not to sound rude but I need to go.” D walked away from the strange girl, she raised a hand to try and stop him. “H-Hey wait can you at least help me find her!?” She cried out, D froze about 10 feet away from her and turned around.

“Help you find Sunset Shimmer? HA your funny and insane, I’m on good terms with her. And plan to keep it that way thanks!” He yelled beginning to lose his patience with her, he was running out of time for second period. Plus she wanted help finding Shimmer, which he was on good terms with before she turned into a demon. Turning away once more he began to jog, she cried out after him.

“Can I atleast know your name!?” She screamed, he spun around walking backwards. “Dawning Star!” He screamed, spinning back around he took off running leaving the new girl behind. Though he barely made it to the corner store buying himself a few more Red Stallion energy drinks, and a bag of kettle chips. As he exited the corner store still sipping at his first Red Stallion he noticed out the corner of his eye a yellowish brown skinned boy. With seaweed green hair, he had a daydreaming appearance on his face as he spoke on his cell phone.

“Snails?...” D said to himself, Snails was one of Sunset Shimmers little posse of misfits. Snails turned to notice Dawning staring at him, he looked slightly nervous as he quickly turned away walking back toward CHS. D tilted his head a bit confused, Snips and Snails normally avoided him when it came to who they bullied because they feared Sunset Shimmer’s wrath. D after all used to be Sunset’s best friend before she changed so much, he didn’t treat her like an outsider when she was new like everyone else did. Even gave her to tour or the school, and
the city as Vice Principle Luna’s request since he had lived in Canterlot his whole life.

Sunset quickly learned everything, though she did it in the same matter almost to that other new girl. He should of asked her name, in case she needed a tour as well. Oh well, maybe it was for the best he didn’t get involved with her, since whatever happened between her and Shimmer could get him out of Sunset’s good graces. Which as fun as it is to be picked on, he wasn’t in any rush to get into it.

But back to the matter at hand, Snails looked nervous of D as if he knew something D didn’t. Sighing lightly, he shouldn’t get involved with it but if Snails was nervous Sunset could be in trouble… Chugging the last of his drink he pulled the tab off shoving it in his pocket, then tossed the can into a nearby bin. Taking off after Snails it didn’t take long to catch up since Snails wasn’t expecting D to follow, and D was taller than him. So he could cover more ground faster, as he finally caught up they ended up by the bleachers of the school soccer field.

This time though Snails was with a boy with blue skin and orange hair, a scissor symbol on his shirt. Snips, slipping behind the bleachers without a sound D listened in on them. Straining his ears as he listened in…

“So Shuttershy found the crown?” Snails said, Snips nodded “Yeah Sunset Shimmer screamed at her saying it was her’s then some new girl came up standing up to Sunset.” New girl? Must be that strange girl from earlier, wow she worked fast in finding Shimmer. Snails spoke up next “Did Sunset Shimmer shove her in a locker!?” He sounded almost excited at the idea Snips smirk but shook his head. “Na she let her off with a warning, lucky she’s new.” The two boys snickered together, but froze when D appeared behind them both.

“Hey boys, ya seen Sunny?” Snips jumped forward slamming into Snails, who failed to catch his shorter/ fatter friend. The two came crashing down but they looked up at D who smirked down at him. Before kneeling back down to their height, his voice turned cold for a moment.

“Where’s Sunny?” The two boys hugged each other as Snips spoke up. “S-She’s in the shed s-skipping Science!” He said in a panic, D’s eyes turned to the sports supply shed. Of course she’d be there, patting Snips head once. “Good boy” He said before walking off to the shed, Snips exhaled before looking to Snails who he was still hugging. “Ah! Get away!” The two began to push and shove against each other as their = backpacks got tangled up…

D slid the shed door open since it was unlocked, to be greeted by a girl with blazing red/yellow stripped hair and a natural amber skin like almost like the color you get after tanning. Her almost bacon looking hair was in a ponytail as she read her science book, she wore a purple blouse with a blazing red and yellow sun on the front. With a purple and yellow stripe that was across an orange skirt. Nearby was a black leather with a pair of black tall biker boots, with a small stripe of purple. They were neatly set up beside her as she sat on a pile of gym mats, her soft cyan eyes didn’t even look up at him as she read.

“Sunny.” D calmly said, Sunset Shimmer looked up at him. As her mind recognized him, a beautiful soft smile pulled at her lips. “Daws!” She sounded almost excited to see him, she closed her science book tossing it onto her coat. Which tapped one of her boots knocking them down, standing up with her bare feet she walked to him looking up.

“What brings you here?” Her eyes almost lit up, D couldn’t help but smile at her. This was the Sunny he knew from back then, the girl who didn’t push people around to get what she wanted. The girl he met back then on her first day, she only showed this side of herself to him though… Why he couldn’t figure it out.

“I heard about what happen with Flutts, about how you yelled at her.” He said, her pleasant smile faded a little. “What about it?” She said almost defensively to him, his smile faded as well. “The crown isn’t yours, you need to win it fair and square like you did first year.” Her smile was now completely gone as her beautiful eyes turned to a glare, turning away from him she grabbed her jacket slipping it on.

“That crown is mine, it was my destiny to have it.” She said, she grabbed one of her boots slipping it on. Then she grabbed the other, as she did Dawning leaned against the wall. “Why is it so important that you win it?” He asked, she didn’t look at him. “Because Celestia kept me from my destiny.” His eyes tensed up a bit “Principal Celestia, is keeping you from winning a highschool crown that won’t mean anything after we graduate?” She picked up her book and walked to the door only for him to step in her way.

“Sunny, talk to me. What’s going on with you? Your acting like this crown is more important to you then anything.” She glared up at him and grabbed the front of his shirt shoving him away. “You wouldn’t understand but know this you get in my way, I’ll crush you. I don’t care about you or anyone else.” She said bitterly, before sliding the door open and slamming it shut behind her.

“Sunny…” He quietly said as he starred at the closed door, rubbing the back of his hair in defeat. This wasn’t the first time she said that to him, that he didn’t matter or did anyone else. Though one time she said anypony, correcting herself quickly. That aside, she’d always talk to him later as if nothing happened. He’d never demand an apology or anything but somehow he had a feeling that this time… things would be different. A feeling in his bones that something was coming and that, the new girl was involved somehow…

The Dawn follows the Sunset
Chapter 4: Standing Together

The next day had come rather quickly, Dawning haven’t seen the new girl since their strange meeting. Though he had heard from a few people that she had signed up to be Princess of the Fall Formal, again she must be an escape mental patient. She was setting herself up to be buried by Sunny, speaking of her. She hadn’t text him, called him, or emailed him. Granted she didn’t normally but whenever they had a fight like that it didn’t take long for her to say something.

“I got the feeling she doesn’t intend to talk to me…” Dawn said looking out the window at the track field. “Who won’t?” Someone asked, turning his head up he was greeted by Rainbow who sat down in front of him. He laughed under his breath a bit shaking his head. “No one. Don’t worry about it.” He said, she tilted her head at him a bit confused but smiled.

“Did ya see it yet?” She said holding her phone up, he looked at her again. “See it? Make a video on how many times you crash again?” He teased, she glared at him “You’re an ass!” She said, he rolled his eyes at her. “You could put Jackass to shame with your crashes.” He fired back, Rainbow growled under her breath. He only smiled at her as her like nothing was wrong, after a few minutes of fuming at him she relaxed. Then showed him what she was talking about…

“It’s the new girl…” Dawning said as he watched Rainbow Dash’s phone playing a video, the new girl was in the library. Using the computer like an animal, picking up books with her mouth, being blinded by the copier because she looked right into the light. Making a huge mess, even knocking down a few bookshelves…

“Wow… who made this?” He asked, Rainbow closed her flip phone shrugging. “Beats me, everyone got it sent to their school emails” She said, he blinked a bit confused he never got an email. Opening his phone up, he opened his school email. Nothing had been sent to him in the last 4 days, last thing he got was an email from Principal Celestia to all students about the Fall Formal.

“I didn’t get it.” He said, Rainbow shrugged turning around as Miss. Cheerilee came in to start the day. First period went by quickly as Dawning thought about who might have record the video of the new girl, though he had a sneaking idea of who it was. Sunny must have ordered Snips and Snails to follow the newbie, wasn’t hard to figure out why. Sunny took something from her, newbie stood up to Sunny, and worse off she was challenging Sunny for the Fall Formal crown.

“You got free time right?” Rainbow said, Dawning looked out the window not seeming to hear her as he zoned out to his thoughts. “Helloooo D…D?” She waved her hand in front of his face, though he still didn’t react til she reached over to his ear pulling it. “OW!” He cried out, she smirked at him as he moved away rubbing his ear.

“Geez mom what is it?!” He said glaring at her, keeping her smirk she picked up her school bag. “Come on, I’m gonna kick a few balls.” She said walking away, he laughed once at her “Sorry I like mine.” She stopped for a moment before glaring at him her face slightly pink, he picked up his bag and walked right past her with a smirk.

“I could use the practice anyway.” He stated, she ran after him quickly as they used their free period to get some practice in. Going out onto the track which circled around the soccer field, Rainbow went to the shed getting a bin full of soccer balls. Dawn had tossed his backpack on the bleachers, slipping off his olive drab vest as well. He moved to the goal posts and leaned against one of them as Rainbow came out with bin, taking one of the ball out she smirked at him.

“Ready D!?” She cried out, Dawn moved to the center of the goal crouching down. Reaching into his back pocket he took out a pair of goalee gloves pulling them on quickly, he smirked back at her. “Bring it.” Rainbow threw the ball into the air, as it came down she struck it hard with her foot sending it flying to the right of the goal. Dawn’s eyes snapped to the ball before he jumped in the way of it, blocking it with one hand it was sent off to the side.

“Incoming!” She screamed, Dawn turned to see two more white and black spotted balls. He kicked one out of the way of the goal, and head butting the other to the side. Grasping his head, he could feel his brain spinning, ow maybe that wasn’t a bright idea he thought. As he opened his eyes he saw another ball fly right for his face, quickly raising his hand he smacked it aside. Shaking his hand a bit to push the numbing feeling it now had, she was going all out in her kicks.

“What’s a matter the Vice-Captain can’t keep up with my awesomeness?” Rainbow said with a smug grin, Dawn glared at her a bit. “You’re only Captain because I was sick the day they had try outs!” Rainbow rolled her eyes at him keeping her smug grin. “Oh yeah? Then you should challenge me to take over.” He laughed lightly before kicking one of the soccer balls right at Rainbow Dash whose eyes widen before she dodged to the side. The ball soared right past her into the opposite goal, Dawn crossed his arms with his own smug grin.

“Na it would be too eas…. Oh we have guests…” Dawn’s smug grin vanished as he pointed behind Rainbow Dash she turned around to see a girl with tan skin, a Stetson on her blondish almost straw colored hair. She wore cowbo-cowgirl boots, a demin blue skirt and a white blouse with blue collar. Her emerald green eyes were locked on Rainbow Dash as she walked up to her, Rainbow glared at her.

“Uh-oh…” Dawns eyes moved to four other girls who were watching them from the side lines, one of them was Fluttershy, the new girl, a rather refined looking young lady as she would prefer to be called. She had an almost marshmallow white skin, azure eyes that he was sure could make any man’s heart melt. Her purple hair done up almost like a fashion model, and her stance matched the style. She had on knee high purple boots with a diamond on the side of them, her skirt matched the color of her boots. Though she had on light blue blouse, an elegant air surrounded her.

The fourth girl had a bubble gum pink skin color, and an almost hot pink hair that looked like cotton candy. And which Dawn was sure was a portal to another world given how she pulls things out some times, but she had light blue eyes. A pinkish purple skirt with blue boots, though there was a small ribbon on the front of each of them. A white blouse with a pink heart in the center, and a light blue opened tee shirt that matched her boots. Light blue wrist bands, and finally three balloons two light blues ones with a yellow one in the center on her skirt.

Dawn’s eyes moved back to the two girls talking quietly to themselves, sensing a slight air of awkwardness he moved to the elegant girl. “Hey Rarity, what’s going on?” He asked, she smiled at him batting her eyelashes a bit. “Well darling, it seems there was a misunderstanding. And Applejack is trying to work it out with Rainbow Dash.” She said, brushing her hair aside once she kept a slightly flirty smile on her lips.

“Ah… Sup Pink?” D said saluting to her in greeting, she waved to him before bouncing over to his other side having him sandwiched between two girls. Which from what he knew about most the guys at CHS would be a dream come true, all of them turned their eyes over to the two who were chatting out of ear shot.

“I say they fight to the death to mend their friendship…” D suggested, earning him a giggle from Pinkie, a slightly panicked ‘Eep’ from Fluttershy, an eye roll from Rarity and finally a genuine look of concern from the new girl who didn’t seem to get the joke. Though thankfully there wasn’t any head cutting off in the end as to two girls hugged officially mending everything.

The two walked back to the five standing on the sidelines, arms around each other’s shoulders like it was just a normal day. “Darn and here I was hoping you two would battle it out… My moneys on RD.” D joked, Rarity cleared her through dismissing his words. Though Rainbow smirked having her closest guy friend on her side, Applejack glared at him though he knew it wasn’t a serious one. Rainbow looked to the new girl who was now on her feet, though she wasn’t as shaky as the day before.

“So you wanna take on Sunset Shimmer huh?” RD asked, the new girl nodded lightly to her. She then turned to D who raised his eyebrow at her, she was seriously going after Sunny? What did this girl lose to Sunny that was worth starting a war with the one girl who tore everything apart behind closed doors? Though not many student knew this little fact, expect for a handful who knew Sunny’s nature. D being the main one…

“By the way we were never fully introduced, I’m Twilight Sparkle.” She said, before bowing her head. D blinked a bit confused, was she Asian or something bowing is pretty formal for a greeting. RD looked between the two of them looking a bit confused.

“You two met?” She asked, D nodded once. “Yeah, I skipped second period yesterday cause I didn’t feel like duking it out with at dodgeball. I went to my normal place for a drink and ran into her out front the school.” He replied seeming very uninterested in what was going on, which RD knew was just his way of responding to things dealing with Sunset Shimmer. Twilight stood up turning her attention back to Rainbow Dash, who started to kick a soccer ball absent mindedly.

“Well anyway, I got to say I’m all for that. But you got to prove yourself to me first.” She said before kicking the ball into the air and catching the ball, she then pointed her finger at Twilight then to the soccer field. “By beating me, first to five wins!” Twilight’s face dropped at RD’s challenge, who in returned kicked the soccer ball clear over her head and into the goal joining D’s previous ball.

“First points mine!” She said running out onto the field, D sighed lightly shaking his head. “The massacre begins” He said walking to the bleachers sitting down beside his backpack, and taking out a can of Red Stallion. The rest of the girls minus Twilight and Rainbow joined him on the bleachers, Pinkie quickly stole D’s drink taking a few sips much to Rarity’s disgust. She then passed it to AJ who was sitting on the bench above she took a few sips as well, D just watched with a small amount of annoyance.

“That’s my last one…” He said, AJ smirked at him with a wink. “Ya’ll just skip class anyway to grab more later.” She said not bothering to return it, okay she was right about that he was gonna. But still it was the principal of the whole thing, sighing with defeat he looked to the field as he leaned back against the bench. Buuut not before glancing back at AJ who noticed his look, she raised an eyebrow as she looked over the can at him.

“Green really suits you…” Was all he said before looking back at the field, AJ took the can from her lips confused for a moment. That was until her normal bronze colored freckled cheeks turned bright red, one hand moved to her skirt shoving it down so it was between her legs.

“YOU LITTLE!?” She cried out, D quickly jumped off the bench as she lashed out with one leg. Nearly taking his head off, and almost hitting Rarity instead. Who D took into consideration and pushed a bit to the side when he moved so she’d be out of the firing zone. AJ didn’t have RD’s speed or skill in sport but what she didn’t have she made up for in pure power, that could send him to the nurse if he wasn’t careful.

“Got to go!” D cried out, Rarity was on her side smiling at him. “Such a gentleman” She said with a teasing wink, Pinkie was giggling like she normally did. The Fluttershy was just confused, and the two girls on the field were just even more confused. D grabbed his bag, and went for his vest but AJ beat him to it grabbing on it.

“Come and get it cowboy~” She said in a teasing tone that was full of venom, the blush still clearly on her. She was challenging him, a challenge he would have to say… “Fuck that!” D took off in the run with only backpack in tow, he would live to fight another day.

“Ya’ll a chicken!” She screamed, D hopped the small fence between the field to the road out front the school. “Yes but this chicken just flew the coop!” He screamed back, waving all the girls minus a furious Applejack waved goodbye to him for now. So a vestless Dawning started his quest for more Red Stallion at least he had time to grab some before lunch. And he was sure RD could snatch back his vest for later, at least he hoped so she did owe him for a new steering wheel…

“Worst case… I get Big Mac to help me steal it back…” He said with a small smile, shaking his head he continued down the sidewalk heading to his normal hideout. The local corner store, as he stepped into the store greeting the normal cashier and moved to the back of the store to the fridge he paused.

“Sunny.” He said, turning to look at the corner of the store. Sure enough his once bacon colored hair friend was there, a Red Stallion drink in her hands. With a small flick of her arm she threw it to him, which he caught effortlessly. He squeezed the can once feeling the pressure, it wasn’t shaken at least. Popping the top, the normal mist flowed from the top which he took a small sip. Not poisoned he hoped, tasted fine leaning on the corner shelf he watched her. Her cyan eyes locked onto his as if searching for something, after a full minute she finally spoke.

“I hear you’ve been talking to Twilight Sparkle.” She said, it didn’t sound like much of a gossip fact like ‘I know you did’ sound. “Yes mom, I was talking to the new girl.” A small twitch pulled at the corner of her lips, she almost smiled at him but she held strong.

“I’m going to warn you only once, stay away from her. Or you’ll be in the same boat as her.” She warned, though her tone was harsh D could sense something else. A desire to say more, but she didn’t just walk past him bumming into his shoulder with her own. As she past D sniffed the air once, he caught the faint scent of something…

“You’re wearing it.” He said, his eyes moved in her direction but not enough to see her. He knew though she was frozen mid step, it was quite for a moment until she spoke. “Well….it was a birthday gift.” Sunny said a somewhat hurt tone of voice, he nodded once.

“Yeah it was… why didn’t you wear it yesterday? Were you planning to try impressing me?” He asked, taking a small sip from his can he could faintly hear the carbonation bubbling. The footsteps got quieter as she walked away from him, the DING from the front door almost echoed in the door with how quiet it was.

Sighing lightly D moved to the front counter, paid for his drink and swiftly exited the store without a sound. As he stepped outside hearing the DING fade away as the door closed he glanced down the road towards the school. No sign of Sunny, which meant she was running back to school. Despite the boots she wore, Sunny is very athletic he knew that because she once tried out track at his suggestion. But turned down the offer to join saying she just wanted to see if she could do it.

“She’s a weird one.” He said to himself, sipping his drink he moved down the road in the direction of the school. Period would end soon which ment lunch time afterwards, so he picked up the pace…

…..

“He actually noticed…”

Sunny said to herself as she watched him going back to the school, her hand tightly squeezing her left forearm she did this when she was frustrated. And this whole situation with Twilight Sparkle was complicated enough but with Dawning Star involved it got so much harder. She had a goal, to take over the school, secure the crown, and take her revenge on Princess Celestia. And do that she needed an army to bend to her will, but he… he wasn’t supposed to be part of it.

“But if you’re going to stand in my Daws… I’ll take you down.” Her words harsh but in her heart, she didn’t feel her words carrying any real weight aside from the weight of guilt. Daws was there for her since she arrived to the school, he showed her the whole school, the town at Vice Principal Luna’s request but he didn’t seem bothered by it.

He seemed to smile the whole time, a carefree and calming smile. A smile that earned him friends quickly, she hated to admit it but that smile won her over at first too. And even now that smile made her waiver from her goals, but she couldn’t she needed to claim what was truly hers. Looking up at him once more she saw he was gone, so stepping out of the shadows beside the corner store she moved after him. The whole time she followed his words echoed in her mind…

“You’re wearing it…”
