Luna had returned from her living Nightmare and seeks answers about Equestria from Twilight Sparkle. But will the unicorn hold all the answers Luna needs??? Or will the answer she really seeks be hidden in the Castle of the Two Sisters???
Luna feels unwanted by her subject and vows to please them in any way possible.
Luna woke with a start, sweating and panting. Her eyes snapped open as she sat up. Her breathing slowed and she stepped out of her bed.
"Oh, I simply must stop dreaming about my nightmare miasma. I shan't be any work done if I can't get any sleep before work." Luna said to herself. "But I can't help thinking that the world does not need me. That I need to catch up."
Luna left her room waving to her guards as she walked out. They smiled and bowed to their Lunar Princess. She made her way through the twisty corridors towards the dining hall and smiled as she saw her sister, Celestia. Celestia looked up and acknowledged her little sisters presence.
"Greetings, Lulu. Here to eat before you have to work??" Clestia asked as Luna sat at the other end of the table. Luna watched her sister cut two slices of cake and hover a piece of to her using her yellow magic. Celestia looked at Luna and sighed. "Lulu, you've had another nightmare. Come on you can't hide things from me."
Luna looked at her food and took a bite. "You are correct sister I have had a nightmare but as soon as I go to our old castle, I may understand why I'm having them. You see, I don't know what I did to our old home so it could provide the answers I need. But I may just pay Twilight Sparkle a visit." Luna explained before standing up and walking out of the room.
Celestia chuckled. She knew Luna better than anyone. She'd finish work then go about her personal business. "Oh Lulu. If only you knew what you had done. My Nightmare Princess." Celestia sighed and walked out of the room.
Out on the balcony, Luna stood with her magic alight. The moon was up and the stars were beautiful but Luna hadn't finished work for the night. She stepped inside her bed chambers and grabbed a list but a knock at her door caught her attention. "Come in!!" She shouted. Luna hoped that whoever it was wouldn't be long because she wanted to get back to work.
"Oh hello Lulu!!" Came a cheery voice as its owner materialized out of nowhere. "Ohhh, hard at work already I see. Preparing for the big Wonderbolt show next week!" Discord goofily smiled as Luna rolled her eyes.
"Oh please Discord. I hardly have time for your shenanigans. I have responsibilities but I'm sure you know how that feels. Oh wait no you don't!!" Luna yelled sarcastically trying block the fool out. "Now if you don't mind, I have work to do!"
"Oh don't mind me, Lulu, I won't be any trouble." Discord laughed heartily. Luna took a deep breath and turned around. Discord gasped when he saw her eyes glowing green and purple.
"OUT!!! NOW!!" Luna's voice boomed and Discord shrank in terror. He snapped his fingers and vanished. Luna sighed happily and got straight back to work.
On the other side of the castle, an alicorn mare was chuckling to herself. "Oh Luna,. You truly are a Nightmare Princess!!" The made announced and flew away before anypony could catch her. She muttered, "But you deserve all the answers...."
Luna had just finished her shift for the night when another knock on the door caught her attention. She groaned and opened the door, revealing a unicorn wearing a black cape. The pony was purple just like Luna but had a red and blue mane.
"Luna, how are you my dear??" The strange unicorn asked. Luna looked at her confused and she slowly closed the door.
"Uhh, I'm fine thank you but who are you?" Luna asked but the mare just chuckled. Luna sat down really wanting the mare to leave her be.
"Everything will become clear Luna but for now, all you need to know is that your sisters student holds all the answers you seek..." And with that the mare vanished. Luna rolled her eyes but flew to Ponyville. She did want answers but she wasn't sure she needed them.
Luna knocked on Twilight's castle door and it swung open. No one was there so Luna looked down and saw Spike inviting her in. "Spike, do you know where Twilight is??" Luna questioned the small dragon.
Spike nodded. "Yeah she'll probably be in the library. Its the only room with the door open." Luna thanked the little dragon and went to the library. She looked around to see mountains of books piled up everywhere.
"Twilight?? Twilight are you in here??" Luna called. Then she saw Twilight sat at her desk that was hidden behind five book mountains."Oh uh hi Luna. I didn't think I'd have any visitors. I'm sorry you had to see the library in such a mess." Twilight said, quickly re-shelving the books. "So what brings you here, Luna?" Luna looked down sadly. Twilight looked at her concerned. "I want to know what I did when I was Nightmare Moon." Luna said confidentially. Twilight gasped at her request. "NOW!!!" Twilight almost jumped out of her skin. "Uhh, drink this potion after it has turned white and the answers you seek cannot hide!!" Twilight said, remembering what Zecora had told her. Luna changed the colour from purple to white then she took a sip.
Her eyes turned white and she was transported to the time that she nearly killed her sister. "Wh-where am I? What is this place?" Luna asked herself, confused....
Luna looked up and saw herself. She looked to see Celestia stood beside her. She heard lines she clearly remembered saying. The she saw something that horrified her. She almost killed her own sister. Luna curled into a ball, tears streaming down her face wishing it would end.
"Luna... LUNA!!" Twilight yelled, concerned for the older alicorn as tears poured freely down her cheeks. "Luna are you ok??" Luna shook her head.
"No, no I'm not. What did I do??" Luna asked, her voice full of confusion and hurt.
"Luna are you ok??" Celestia asked, as Luna returned with her head hung low. "Did you get the answers you sought so tirelessly for??"
"Yes, but I wish I hadn't. I found out that the possible reason for my nightmares is you." Luna said slowly.
Celestia's eyes widened and when she spoke, her voice was cracking and shaky. "M-m-me?? But h-h-how?" Luna took a deep breath and explained what she saw slowly and carefully to her elder sister. "Oh, Lulu, that's in the past and I love you more than anything. That will never change, EVER!!" Celestia comforted her littler sister.
"Thanks, Tia. I really needed that," Luna said wiping her tears, hugging her sister tight.
"Any time, Lulu, anytime..." Celestia whispered.
On the other side if the castle, a mare chuckled evilly. "Stage 1, status, complete!!" She grinned and flew off before the guards could pick up on her.
The evil mare landed in front of her hide out. Her guards saluted and allowed her entrance. She sighed and sat on her throne. "Some days I wonder what my purpose in life is..." She sighed and went over her evil plan to turn Luna against Equestria. "GUARD!" She barked. "Yes your high majesty?" he saluted.She cackled evilly. "Bring me the potion!" She yelled. She laughed evilly. Her guard returned with a bubbling purple and silver potion.
The mare's eyes flashed. She inhaled and sighed heavily. "Discord!" Discord materialised out of thin air. "Oh Lilli... you're still no fun." He laughed as she rolled her eyes. "What do you want Discord?" "I want revenge on Celestia once Luna is out of the way!" He hissed. The mare chuckled...
"So you want to have revenge on the princess of the sun and then spread chaos?" She asked knowingly. Discord chuckled and nodded. "Well this potion should turn Luna over to me then against her sister but I need someone to deliver it?" She stated looking at Discord with puppy dog eyes. He glanced at the potion in her magical grasp and sighed. "How are we going to get her to take it?" Discord asked. "Silver Moon, you aren't suggesting we put it in a food she likes so that she takes it unknowingly then turns over to you in a matter of hours??" Silver laughed evilly and nodded. "I'll see what I can do..." He trailed off as he snapped his fingers, taking the evil potion with him.
Discord materialised into Luna's room with a cake. The cake contained the potion to turn Luna evil. He snapped his fingers and Luna's mane turned into cotton candy. Discord made a cloud appear above her head and rain chocolate milk over her cotton candy mane. Luna turned around and sighed. "What do you want Discord?" She asked, already fed up of his shenanigans. He chuckled. "Oh Lulu, am I really that bad?" He asked. Luna rolled her eyes and nodded. "Aaaaaaanyway..... I brought you a cake because you've just finished working and I thought it would be a nice treat." Luna gasped seeing the purple and blue cake in his hands.
"Ummm why thank you Discord what a nice thought... I shall eat it before I sleep. Now if you don't mind calling off your cloud and changing my mane back you may leave." She stated, still surprised by his gesture. Discord chuckled and nodded before snapping his fingers, changing everything back to normal and leaving at the same time. Once he left, Luna dug into the cake and fell fast asleep...
