We all know the story of how Pinkie Pie got her cutie mark, but how did she come to live with the Cakes?

Pinkie Pie got her cutie mark on a dreary rock farm, and decided to move somewhere where she could use her special talent anytime she wanted. To make this dream possible, she moves in a nearby town that goes by the name of Ponyville, where she finds laughter, fun, treats, and a loving family.

A cutie mark and a new town

Pinkamena Diane Pie (Or just Pinkie, to her Granny Pie) was outside helping her sisters and parents rotate the rocks in the south field into the east field, when the lunch bell rang, signaling "break time." When Pinkamena lifted her head, she saw her father's disapproving look he sent her way. She knew her sisters had moved more rocks then her, and whenever this happened, she would have to stay outside until the meal was over, and continue moving rocks until everypony came back out. She had woken up late as well, meaning she had to skip breakfast, but luckily, her twin sister, Marble, had saved some of her muffin for her, for which Pinkie was grateful for.
Suddenly, her thoughts were interuppted by a large BOOM, which was quickly followed by the most beautiful sight Pinkamena had ever seen! All the gray clouds had vanished, as well as the thick, gloomy, atmosphere, and was replaced with the biggest (and first) rainbow she had ever seen! The air was suddenly much more warmer, like magic! All these things added up, and Pinkamena just wanted to keep smiling! But how am I going to get Mom, Dad, Maud, Limestone, and Marble to smile like me? Pinkamena wondered. And then, it clicked!
She'd throw them a party! With cake and balloons and streamers and confetti and AH! This was going to be the best party ever!

Pinkamena was franticly dashing around this way and, trying to make the inside of the windmill look as colorful as the rainbow she saw. With a smile on her face, she put the last decoration up. Suddenly, she her her father addressing her sisters and mother.

"We better harvest the rocks in the south field to the east field."

Pinkie sprung up. This was it! Time for her parents and sisters to PAAR-TAY!
She started the record player, and ran to the door just as her mother called her full name.

"Pinkamena Diane Pie!"

Pinkie ran to the door and flung it open, letting a small pile of confetti and a few balloons float outside as she smiled widely and called excitedly to her parents and sisters.

"Mom! I need you and Dad and the sisters to come in! Quick!" Pinkie didn't want to let anymore party supplies float out the door.
Pinkie piratically flew back to the cake, and waited for her parents and sisters (Maud would get here later) to come inside.

"Suprise! You like it? It's called "a party!" Pinkie Pie put on an award winning smile, feeling like she would simply EXPLODE from excitement.
But, her parents and sisters looked like they were going to cry. This was a PARTY, for Celestia's sake! Ponies were supposed to be HAPPY at a party, not crying!
Suddenly, Pinkie felt her hair fall flat, and she felt like she could cry. Maybe she wasn't as good as throwing parties as she thought.

"You don't like it?"

Then her parents and sisters started smiling just as wide as she had when she saw the rainbow.

"Huh? You like it! I'm sooo HAPPY! Pinkie cried out while she danced with her mom. Behind her she saw Limestone twirling around joyfully, and by the doorway, she saw Marble and her Dad dancing as well. A few moments later, Maud walked in.

"Pinkamena, what's going on?" She asked in a monotone voice.

"I'm soooooo glad you asked! We're having a party, and I'm the host! So, welcome! Refreshments are on the table and the dance floor is right in front of you!"

"Pinkamena, this is amazing! I'm so glad you decided to throw... this... party? Huh?! PINKAMENA, YOU GOT YOUR CUTIE MARK?! WHEN?! HOW?! WHAT DOES IT MEA-Muph!"

Limestone's rambling got cut off on account of Maud stuffing her forehoofs into her mouth, and Pinkie Pie looked at her flank, and gasped. At this point, her parents and sister had stopped dancing, and looked at her.

"I GOT MY CUTIE MARK! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Maud smiled softly, and plucked her sister out of the air, for Pinkie had jumped up in her excitement, wearing a smile that looked as if it would never come off.

"I GOT MY CUTIE MARK! I GOT MY CUTIE MARK! I GOT MY CUTIE MARK!"

"To answer your question from earlier, Limestone." Maud began, watching Pinkie settle down to give Marble and her parents a hug. " I believe Pinkamena got her cutie mark from throwing this party."

"Huh? My special talent is throwing parties? Yay!"

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

A month later, Pinkie Pie had made her decision, and although her parents didn't agree at first, Pinkie managed to win them over by promising she would return to her rock farm if things got too tough. Now, Pinkie had taken everything down, and carefully placed all the party decorations in a chest under her bed, and was currently writing to her Granny Pie.

Dear Granny Pie,

I got my cutie mark from throwing a party! It's two blue balloons with a yellow balloon in the middle.
I'm thinking of moving to Ponyville. I went there to get party supplies, everypony is soooooooo nice! AND there are not only a TON of earth ponies, but there are also unicorns and pegisi! In one place! That town might be crazier then you, Granny Pie!
Anyway, the train leaves in a few minutes, but I'll be back for Hearthswarming!

Love,
Pinkamena (Pinkie!) Diane Pie!

Pinkie stuck the letter in the prepared envelope, and stuck a bunch of glittery heart stickers along the seam, and stuffed it in her saddlebags, just as Maud called her downstairs.

"Pinkamena, Mom says we have to leave now."

"Coming down right now, Maud!"

Pinkie jumped onto the banister and slid down in a true Merry Poppin's style. She (somehow) managed to pull out some rainbow colored confetti as she flipped onto her hooves.

"Ready Mom! Ready Dad!" Pinkie shouted excitedly as she bounced on hooves between the doorframe and picture shelf, unable to contain her excitement at the thought of going to a new town. There would be so many new ponies to meet! She was, however, sad at the thought of leaving her sisters and rock farm behind. It was her first time alone, yet she felt it was... her destiny.

Pinkie waved to her family as the train departed. She was nervous, yet excited. She was... Nervxcited! Yeah! That was it!

"BYYYYE!"
