Not much is known about the creation of Equestria, we know Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon, but what about the four seasons.
When the seasons start changing beyond the control of weather teams not even the princesses or elements of harmony can fix it. But this isn't the first time its happened, and only a certain re-formed Chaos lord and changeling queen know who to ask.
But will this guardian let go of the past? What happened all those decades ago? And what does one draconequus and Changeling Queen have to do with it?. Can they save Equestria or will it be the end of everything everypony knows.
This will have some sad parts but I was unable to add the tag for it.
Luna re-read the scroll she had taken from her sister hoping that what she was reading was horribly wrong or a simple mistake but when she looked at her sister who shook her head she had to come to the horrible truth. "What should we do sister?" Luna asked concerned "If what the head guard has said is true then we must seek the one who can fix it" "Yes but that is proven to be a problem" Celestia said walking towards her balcony looking down towards Ponyville "She has not had contact with me for nearly three thousand years" "But surely she'd appear when the seasons start going out of everypony's control that not even the weather teams can fix" Luna argued "You know the reason for her disappearance as well as I do, and unless those responsible locate her and apologize there is nothing we can do" Celestia said with a sad smile "I'm sure their well aware of what is happening, and the fate of not only our kingdom but the entire world rests on their decision"
Somewhere high above the sky on what seemed to be a floating island, a Pegasus with a white coat, blue and yellow mane with the four elements as her cutie mark lay under a large tree sleeping. The tree itself was unique as it was split into four showing each season a tree would be like, Summer, Winter, Spring and Autumn. "Cosmic its been over three thousand years, you shouldn't stay in the past" A white wolf said walking over after nudging the Pegasus awake "The tree needs your power, the seasons are starting to become independent and soon the Pegasus will be unable to control the out of control weather" The Pegasus looked irritated from be awoken but otherwise grumbled "I'd like to but I just can't bring myself to do it" Aurora Star or Cosmic Star as she likes to be called sighed standing up and turning towards the tree "If I can't fill the tree with happiness and positive energy it will make the process of the seasons going out of control even faster" She started walking away and opened her wings taking flight towards the ground "Its best you talk with them then hiding away" The wolf called towards her and shook his head "I can't really blame her though, what those two she called 'family' did to her its going to take more then a simple apology to heal a broken heart" He glanced at the tree which had grown a bit dimmer.
Ponyville...
"Hiding? Whoever said I was hiding?" Cosmic muttered to herself as she landed on the ground then blinked when she saw where she was "Note to self: Catch up on what's happening on the ground" She walked around to see what place she was out and approached a pink pony who took one glance at her, gasped loudly and ran off leaving Cosmic extremely confused "Don't mind her that's just Pinkie Pie" A voice said and she looked up to see a cyan colored Pegasus with a rainbow colored man "You must be new here in Ponyville, the names Rainbow Dash fastest flier in all of Equestria and soon-to-be Wonderbolt" "Nice to meet you Rainbow Dash my Names Aurora but I prefer Cosmic because I like the Cosmic Stars" Cosmic greeted back. She didn't know what a Wonderbolt was but she had a feeling that if she asked Rainbow Dash bad results would follow. "So you know that Pony?" "Yeah Pinkie Pie is probably planning you a surprise party right now, she does it to everypony new here" Rainbow Dash replied and saw Cosmic confused look "You know a party where you hang out with other ponies, eat food and dance" "So its like a ball?" Cosmic questioned "No its like-you just-ugh" Rainbow Dash said frustrated and landed on the ground "Have you been living under a rock, a party is totally different from boring balls" Then Rainbow Dash noticed Cosmic was a bit taller than her about princess Luna's height but didn't ask about it. "Well its been a long time since I've socialized with anypony" Cosmic said slightly embarrassed then her stomach grumbled making her face go even redder. "Why don't we get something to eat then I'll show you around" Rainbow Dash suggested "Lead the way then" Cosmic said following Rainbow Dash who continued telling her about her adventures
"I've never had a Hayburger before or any of these foods" Cosmic commented enjoying Hayfries and two hayburgers with her drink "I usually just eat fruit and veges" "Your welcome" Rainbow Dash said "So what brings you to Ponyville, we don't get many new visitors" "I just needed so time away from home" Cosmic said "And apparently experience stuff I've never heard of or tried" "Your the first Pony I've met that doesn't know what a party is" Rainbow Dash said "I'm sure to be surprised at this Party your friend has set up for me" Cosmic said wondering how that will turn out "Yeah and on the way there I'll even tell you my epic adventure during flight camp and even how I got my cutie mark, its an awesome story where I performed the most amazing and legendary trick!" "Whats a flight camp?" Cosmic thought
Two hours later...
"...And that's how I got my cutie mark" Rainbow said finishing her story as they arrived at the library and knocked on the door "Hey Twilight I have a friend I want you to meet" The door opened only showing darkness as they walked in when the lights flicked on and Pinkie jumped out with many other ponies "Surprise!" She yelled as streamers popped out of cannons as the whole library was decorated. And Cosmic saw a purple Alicorn whose eye's were twitching. She was probably this Twilight pony. "Welcome new friend to Ponyville!" "Thank-you" Cosmic said showing her surprise "Whats your name friend?" Pinkie Pie asked with a huge smile "Aurora but please call me Cosmic" Cosmic said with a small smile "Nice to meet you I'm Pinkie Pie" She said shaking Cosmic's hoof "Do you like the party?" "Yes its very nice of you to do this" Cosmic said as four other ponies walked over as well as a small dragon "Cosmic meet my friends" Rainbow Dash said and pointed to a pony wearing a cowboy hat who smiled "This is Applejack" then to a yellow Pegasus who waved shyly and gave a small smile "Fluttershy" then to a white unicorn who smiled politely "Rarity" then the purple unicorn "Twilight" then the small dragon "And that's Spike" "Nice to meet you all" Cosmic greeted with a smile of her own "Wow like the same height as Princess Luna, maybe taller!" Pinkie exclaimed who had taken out a measuring tape from nowhere "Are you part Alicorn" The way the pony stared at her made it feel like all her secrets were being exposed. "No just a Pegasus" Cosmic stated not wanting to reveal her secret of being the season and elemental guardian. "Your town is very nice" "Well if ya'll need anything don't be afraid to ask" Applejack said "Enough talking lets PARTY!" Pinkie yelled shooting another confetti cannon then dragged Cosmic towards the crowd of ponies.
Cosmic flew back to her home tired. The party had gone on longer than she expected, who know ponies these days loved them. She opened the door to her house and lay on her bed exhausted. "Maybe the ponies of Ponyville can fill me with happiness" She looked on her side table towards a frame showing a changeling and draconequus and frowned "Or maybe not, but I should really get out more I feel like I need to relearn everything" She shivered at the thought, she hated learning anything that involved books or problem solving. It gave her a headache. She closed her eyes breathing in and out and opened them again only to scream in shock to see her wolf friend floating above her staring intently. "Starflash don't do that! You know I hate it when you do that" The wolf only looked in amusement and didn't look at all apologetic. "Oh and a surprise party isn't?" He said making Cosmic splutter for a comeback "That's different! I knew it was coming" She argued "What do you want anyway?" "You need to fill the tree with energy soon, the longer you put it off the more the seasons will change horribly" Starflash stated "Remember last time, there were floods, tornado's, droughts, diseases spreadi-" "I get it okay" Cosmic said cutting him off placing a hoof to his mouth "I'll do it first thing in the morning I'm tired" She crawled under her covers "Now shoo go do whatever it is you do" The wolf huffed at the rudeness but left otherwise, but not without saying "Don't stay in the past Cosmic, its best to live in the present" He didn't wait for an answer closing the door behind him. Cosmic stared at the photo on her desk, grabbed it and clutched it tightly. She sobbed quietly within her empty home.
"Your hiding again Cosmic" Starflash the wolf said watching Cosmic pace back and forth in front of the seasons tree. She glared at him. "I am not hiding" She grumbled "Oh really" He deadpanned "You hear Celestia and Luna are visiting and suddenly your too busy when actually you have nothing to do but tend to the tree, admit it your hiding" "So what? Its too early to face them, I severed contact with them, the trees power is fading putting everypony at risk" Cosmic stated "What will they think, will they be angry, upset? What if they don't want to be my friends anymore like the two who I though were family" "Hiding from them and saying it here will not solve anything" Starflash said putting a paw on her shoulder "I'll come with you, we don't have much time before the tree needs to be tended to again" They looked at it and Cosmic sighed in defeat "Okay then but how are you getting down I'm not carrying you" Cosmic asked before wings erupted on Starflash's back "...Could you always do that?" She looked dumbfounded at the revelation. "Ask later lets go" Rugia started flying down with Cosmic following slowly behind
Ponyville...
"So there wasn't any other reason you came here? Just a nice visit?" Twilight asked the sun princess as they sat in her castle having tea with Celestia, Luna and her friends. "Twilight, Cosmic and a friend of hers is here" Spike said opening the door. A wolf came in dragging somepony by their tail "I change my mind I'm not ready yet" The Pegasus that was Cosmic yelled desperately trying to crawl back through the door. Getting irritated the wolf's wings glowed and the Pegasus was lifted off the ground and put in front of Celestia and Luna who looked shocked as they recognized the Pegasus. "Cosmic?" Celestia asked making the pony in question look shyly up at her and greeted "Erm hi?" It came out more like a statement. Celestia hugged Cosmic with Luna joining in all three smiling "We are glad that you are okay" Luna said smiling "Cosmic it is very nice to see you again" Discord said appearing from nowhere only to get shocked from a lightening cloud that Cosmic had created. He gulped and tried running away only for Cosmic to appear in front of him in a flash of light glaring at him "Nice to see you again? Thats all you have to say" She growled glaring at him. Seeing him smiling nervously she sighed but left the lightening cloud to chase Discord around "There's more where that came from, after I get bored from this I'll do something else" "Is it me or is she similar in personality to Discord?" Rainbow whispered to everypony "Thats because I raised Discord since he was a baby and taught him how to control his own" Cosmic responded deciding to freeze Discord from the neck downward "I found him abandoned in what you call the everfree forest not long after Celestia and Luna were crowned princesses and brought him back home with me" "What was he like?" Fluttershy asked "Childish but that hasn't changed" Cosmic stated bluntly "I use to encounter his kind a lot when they were around so I knew how to raise him and help him control his magic" "There's more of him" Rarity questioned making Cosmic glace back at Discord who was also interested with hope then back to the mane six "Well I honestly don't know anymore" She replied making Discord deflate "His kind lived in the everfree forest since they loved the nature of it there, it also explains the odd creatures in there and how unnatural everything there is" "Why did you never tell me" Discord asked hurt in his voice "I knew that the other draconequus would be gone" Cosmic held up her hoof to Discord before he could speak "They told me themselves and when I asked how or why they only told me that I needed to look after the youngest draconequus when they're gone" "I think you told us about this" Luna said "We did investigate on their disappearance but its like they never existed" "Since we're talking and talking about the past, do you forgive me?" Discord asked only to get a glare from Cosmic who sat in front of him "Tell me why you left so suddenly" She commanded "And maybe after a few punishments I'll forgive you" Discord looked at Cosmic who was staring into his eyes intently. "Alright I'll tell you" He sighed giving in "A few days before I left a shadowed figure approached me when you were tending to the tree and told me how I can express my chaos to the world and it would bring my family that I never knew of back, he said they'd return if I caused chaos all around the world, and that you'd follow so I didn't need to say goodbye" "I never met any shadowed man" Cosmic said going in thought rubbing a hoof under her chin "Your power unconsciously puts an invisible shield around you to keep any evil spells and influences from affecting you" Starflash explained "What I'm concerned about is how this shadowed figure got through the shield surrounding the island as only I, Cosmic and anypony we have invited to visit or have allowed to live there can enter" Starflash then made his way to the door dragging Cosmic with him with his magic "Maybe we can take them with us" Cosmic suggested causing her to slam into the door as Starflash suddenly stopped not paying attention to where he levitated Cosmic who was now holding her muzzle in pain from the impact. "That might be a good idea but I can't carry those who can't fly" Starflash pointed out then Cosmic grabbed Pinkie, Rarity and Applejack and put them on his back while Spike was on hers. She trotted by him grinning all the while "Problem solved" She stated
They landed on the land outside the barrier letting everyone who were riding on Starflash and Cosmic off their back. Peering closer to look at the shield Cosmic then flew off to the top and disappeared while Starflash let everyone in making sure nothing was sneaking in. Everyone was in awe as they took in the scenery to the tropical looking nature, the ancient artifacts to the large colored tree on a small hill in the middle. "Thats one mighty big tree" Applejack commented "Thats the season tree, it makes sure the seasons are balanced as everypony start the change to the next season" Starflash said making sure nopony got too close "As you've noticed the color is divided into four showing what a tree looks like in every season and the unique thing is that when the tree has enough energy that Cosmic gives it extremely delicious fruit grow in seconds each with a different effect when eaten" "What kind of effects are they?" Spike asked "For summer the fruit give an extreme energy boost in energy, strength for earth ponies and for unicorns magic power,and for autumn it gives body changes like for an earth pony they'll either get wings or a horn, for Pegasus they'll get a horn but they'll lose their wings till the effects wear off, and unicorns they'll get wings but lose their horn" The mane six looked amazed so Starflash continued "For Winter the fruit has healing abilities and can even heal somepony on the brink of death but it can't bring back the dead, and for Spring it can for some reason satisfy your hunger and thirst for three days" "Thats amazing" Fluttershy said "Rugia has something happened the tree doesn't glow as brightly as it use to" Discord asked getting a glare in the process and gulped nervously "I suppose I have something to do with it" "Ever since you and a certain Queen left Cosmic, the amount of energy she has been giving the tree isn't enough to last a few days so she's had to do it every two days" Starflash was going to continue till Cosmic flew over to them. "It seems the shield isn't strong enough to keep out evil influences and since I'm immune to it I never sensed it" She then gave a curious look to her wolf friend "Can you get influenced?" "No before your parents passed they placed a protective spell on me to ensure that, it can't be broken since its on level with the barrier around you" He explained "So you've been stuck here" Rarity asked "What do you do?" "Well I wake up, eat breakfast, tend to the tree then wonder around the island and check the barrier, have lunch then take a small nap or wonder around some more, have dinner and wonder around some more or talk to Starflash then go to sleep" Cosmic answered shrugging "Its what I've always done before Equestria was formed, and yeah its normal for me so...yeah" "You mentioned a certain Queen before and the only queen we know is Queen Chrysalis" Twilight said "Did you raise her as well" "Yeah her hive abandoned her because she looked different from the other changelings, so I took her in but it was a bit difficult feeding her but I found out you just had to make something with lots of love" Cosmic explained then started flying away leaving Starflash to show everypony around "Does anyone ever eat the fruit from the tree?" Luna questioned curiously wanting to know more about their old friend "Cosmic never spoke much about the tree except it had a part in balancing the seasons" Starflash answered "Cosmic can eat the fruit but she only has small amounts due to the affects, but the draconequus did get the spring fruit but its been only them that have ever taken them though it was only to feed animals in the forest" "Not even Chrysalis and Discord ate them?" Pinkie asked and Discord answered this time "No there are normal fruit trees around the island and she even grew vegetables behind her house" He had two books appear in his hand with the title 'how to take care of changelings' and the other 'How to look after a draconequus' "According to these books, if mine and Chrysalis' kind eat the fruit the affects of the fruit could change to be the opposite of what they should do because of our magic" "Its also because you have chaos magic that would mess up the effects of the fruit, and Chrysalis has a large amount of unusual magic that Cosmic wouldn't be able to reverse the fruits affects if wither of you took even the smallest bite, since your large reserves would speed the up the process" Starflash added as well "What happened to Chrysalis anyway, we know she left like you did but to us she wouldn't seem like somepony would be good" Rainbow Dash questioned Discord "Did this shadowed figure confront her too?" "Not that I know of but if she did she wouldn't tell me" He answered with a shrug "We never got along but she wouldn't leave without a reason that much a know" "Do you think Cosmic would talk with her?" Twilight asked the wolf "Would Chrysalis even want to?" "Its up to Cosmic really" Starflash stated then added with a sigh "If she can let go of the past, even for a little she might be able to but I know she wants to speak with her except her past she still clings to"
Cosmic ignored Discord ranting as they walked through the deadland towards the changeling hive where Chrysalis would be. "So I was thinking that maybe you could join me and Fluttershy on one of her animal picnics, its so much fun" "Ah huh" Cosmic mumbled and to jump back in surprise when several changelings appeared pointing spears at her glaring "What are ponies and the chaos lord doing here in changeling territory" One changeling questioned pointing his spear closer to her "We're here to speak to Chrysalis about something" Cosmic said before the spear turned into flowers instead and turned to Discord "Now that's much better isn't it, all those spears just might hurt somepony" He said laughing to himself "Follow us we're taking you to the Queen" They said pushing them towards the hive
"Queen Chrysalis a pony and the chaos lord are here wishing to speak to you" A changeling said kneeling in front of a throne where the changeling Queen herself sat "Bring them in" She ordered and the doors opened as Discord and a Pegasus were pushed in. Chrysalis appeared before them glancing briefly at Discord and focused her attention to the Pegasus "Cosmic it has been awhile since I have last saw her, are you here to make fun of me again like last time" "What are you talking about? I never made fun of you" Cosmic said confused "You just up and disappeared one day like Discord without any warning or where you were going" "Oh don't act like you don't know" Chrysalis said circling the Pegasus "Don't you remember calling my species an abomination, disgusting, and wishing that we were all gone from this world because no pony would ever accept us" "No I don't remember because I never said those things to you, I would never say that your one of a kind, and even though changelings look the same you have your own personality and different kind of talents" "Its true" A changeling guard said but looked away when Chrysalis glared at him "How can it not be true if you told me in person, you approached me when I was walking through the forest" "Why in Equestria would I be in the forest I spent most of time by the tree giving it my energy, and even if I wasn't I would be exhausted and either be in bed sleeping or just laying in the field" Cosmic exclaimed "Starflash hardly ever leaves my side besides when I leave the island, and before you say I may have approached you when I come back I teleport to the tree not walk through the barrier and through the forest because-" "Its a waste of your time" Chrysalis finished falling onto her flank "Then if that wasn't you who was talking to me that day then who was it?" "Probably the same smoke creature that convinced Discord to spread chaos throughout Equestria" Cosmic said indicating to the Draconequus...who was nowhere to be seen "Argh Discord we don't have time to playing one of your games" "Oh but it was so much fun playing hide and seek back in the old days" He sang appearing behind her and had a blindfold appear over her eyes "Discord" She pulled the blindfold off and pointed a hoof at Chrysalis "Just tell her about the smoke creature that you encountered" "Alright then well it all started on a bright and sunny day" Discord started making Cosmic groan "This going to take awhile" She muttered and leaned against the wall. She turned to the changeling guard next to her "So whats it like serving under Chrysalis" "Okay I guess I just started this week but the other guards said its better than guarding outside" He replied surprised at how layback she was talking to him "So eating love" Cosmic said "Must be tough and even tougher now after the attack on Canterlot" "Yeah it is but we make do disguising ourselves as travelers, that way ponies won't be suspicious of us looking like somepony they really know" "Hm I've been meaning to ask but are you Chrysalis' children or something cause if you are then she must have really wanted children" Cosmic questioned curious making the changeling cheeks ting pink "I never really knew how changelings are born" "No you've got it all wrong we were normal ponies who decided that we didn't want to be ponies anymore, so there is this whole transformation process that takes a couple of days till we become full changelings" He explained and Cosmic pulled out a notepad and begun taking notes "Even though we may never return to normal its worth it because we get wings, a horn and the ability to change into anypony we want" "What about creatures? I've only really heard of changelings turning into ponies" Cosmic questioned glancing at Discord who was being chased by Chrysalis who seemed angry by something he said "Well the Queen is only to because it takes a lot of magic to transform into creatures because their body structure and size is larger than ponies" The changeling said "Changing into ponies doesn't take that much magic after we get use to it" "Thanks for the talk it was really informative" Cosmic said then walked over to Chrysalis and Discord pushing them apart before they could physically hurt each other "All right I think your done explaining Discord, so what is your response to this Chrysalis?" She looked expectantly at the alicorn who only looked at the ground "I'm more angry that I was deceived and left you without confronting you on the matter" She said quite guilty "Like Discord I'm sorry that I left you without informing you on what happened, and letting my anger take over when I could've talked to you about the matter" Cosmic smiled softly and walked over to Chrysalis hugging her "I'm just glad that you no longer believe something false, but your still getting your punishment like Discord has" Cosmic hugged Chrysalis tighter "...You were running away from your problems weren't you" Chrysalis asked "Why does everypony keep saying that!" Cosmic exclaimed "I don't run away from problems I take care of it like any other pony" "Then how come you acted when the princesses and elements of harmony helped when Starflash dragged you to them" Discord pointed out "..." "Thought so" "...Discord your punishment has extended, you too Chrysalis" Chrysalis looked shocked "What why?" "For leaving me and because you say I run from my problems" Cosmic pouted and Chrysalis deadpanned at her "Its the truth so accept it" "...Lets just go please"
