Raising the sun, setting the sun. That was basically Celestia's whole 17 years of living... Something related to the sun. But her name meant the skies, not exactly the sun.... So why did she have to raise the sun and set it? Her Royal Duties. Celestia wasn't just an ordinary pony, she was an alicorn princess. And together with her younger sister, Luna, she created the day and night. Now Celestia was lying down on her soft four-poster bed, so tired and worn out of all her duties. She wanted to do something else. Something that didn't have to do with the sun. Something that didn't have to do with being a princess...
"Hey Tia!" A voice said. Celestia looked up and saw Luna, who sat down next to her on her bed and sighed.
"you're so caught up with the royal duties too?" Luna asked. Celestia nodded and sighed, looking out at the window at the sky.
"I just wish I was a regular unicorn, or maybe even a pegasus..." She said, which made Luna's ears perk up. Celestia shook her head and rested it on the bed.
"I'm sorry, I sounded selfish... It's every filly's dream, after all, to be an alicorn princess..." She said. Luna slumped down on the bed, too.
"Fillies just don't know that being a royal is so hard. I wish I could be a normal pony, too." She said. Celestia sighed.

Luna had just raised the moon and was going to the room.
"Tia, aren't you coming?" Luna asked. Celestia shook her head. She was looking at the stars, wishing that she could fly up there, to some unknown land. Once Luna was inside, Celestia trotted to the other hall, to the exit. She turned back, making sure no obnoxious royal guard was there. Celestia scoffed at the thought of royal guards. They served no purpose whatsoever, but Celestia knew that they were there for a reason.... A reason that she had yet to know. Celestia trotted down the stairs of the dark hallway, looking around for guards anywhere. She was a princess, but the guards constantly over-protected her. Once she was down, the guards raised their spears, and lowered them slightly at the sight of Celestia.
"Princess..." They said, in an oh-so-manly voice. Celestia rolled her eyes slightly, then breathed.
"I'd like to go on an evening stroll." She lied. Her voice quivered while saying those words. She had never lied in her entire life. The guards nodded and followed her for a few steps or so.
"Alone." Celestia said almost angrily. The guards nodded and went back to their spot, as Celestia trotted away into the quiet Canterlot streets. She looked up and did what she had dreamed of doing ever since that day. She flew. Way u into the sky, so that nopony could ever see her. She smiled and glided away from Canterlot, happy that she finally escaped the obnoxious guards and the boring castle. She didn't know or care where she was going, and found herself far away from the normal Equestria she knew.
Celestia landed, yawning, next to a dark cave. She noticed a light inside. Curious, Celestia slowly walked in.
"I was just- Oh..." She heard a voice say. In front of her was a creature that looked like a mix of lots of animals. A draconequus. Celestia couldn't believe that she had actually seen a draconequus in real life. She inched closer. The creature looked surprised, too.
"So... Ponies are... Ignoring us..." He said.
"What do you mean ignoring you? I thought you were extinct!" Celestia exclaimed.
"Besides, if I had known that you exist, I would have given you the best treatment ever." The creature sighed.
"No, we are most certainly not extinct!" he said. The creature sighed.
"I come here every night hoping for proof that ponies DO mind us Draconequuses. And I now have an answer." Celestia raised a hoof.
"Maybe I could give the draconequuses some special treatment. I am a princess after all." Celestia said, hoping she didn't sound unkind or arrogant.
"I could start... By getting your name." The creature merely sighed.
"My name sends creatures running around in fear." He mumbled. Celestia sat down on the dirt.
"I won't run in fear." Celestia said softly.
"My name is Discord." The creature said. Celestia looked at him surprised. Discord.
"What? No gasps? No running away in fear?" Discord asked sarcastically. He was really grumpy, but he felt something.... He finally felt accepted. This pony didn't even let out a gasp.
"I'm Celestia." Celestia said.
"And maybe I can make your life better..." Discord sighed.
"You can't. The draconequuses will just think that you're attacking. It doesn't make sense does it?" He complained.
"Will... You... Think I'm attacking?" Celestia asked. Discord looked at her with his beady eyes.
"I won't. but the others will. If you don't want a great war again, then don't bother lifting a hoof at all." Discord said. Celestia smiled slightly.
"You know, Discord, you shouldn't be let down by your name." She said. Discord looked up and smiled a bit. Celestia continued,
"You seem like a really nice draconequus." She blushed. Discord felt something he had never felt in his entire life. He felt like he could trust Celestia with everything. And he did.
"I want to tell you a secret." He said reluctantly. Celestia was surprised. Discord had just met her. And now he was telling her a secret.
"I wish I could fly out of the draconequus world. Out into the open, out of all my duties." Discord said. Celestia tilted her head. Discord was almost like her.
"I do, too. I mean, ponies aren't all that bad, but I just hate royal duties." Celestia blurted out. She never told this to anyone except Luna.
"You're a pony princess. Why don't you just go?" Discord asked. Celestia inched closer. She was no touching Discord's soft brown fur.
"I can't. Everypony is counting on me. Luna can't rule alone yet, and... What will my parents think?" Celestia said.
"You care about what other ponies say?" Discord asked her.
"I say go for it, I mean, if you really want to." Celestia looked at Discord.
"What about you? I know I just met you, but... I think I'd rather stay here. You come here every night right? Maybe... We can meet again?" She asked him. Discord shrugged.
"Sure. Tomorrow night?" He said. Celestia nodded, smiling. She got ready for flight.
"Tomorrow night."

Celestia was waken up by Luna. She was feeling very sleepy and tired, not like she usually did.
"Tia, you have to raise the sun, remember?" Luna said. Celestia hastily stood up.
"Right..." She said. She went out into the balcony where her parents, Laitselec and Ranul, were waiting. Celestia yawned.
"You seem odd today." Laitselec said.
"I'm just tired." Celestia said. Luna lowered the moon and Celestia raised the sun. She eagerly went back to her room and collapsed on the bed.
"Celestia! A princess can't be sleeping around, especially the princess of the sun! You have royal duties to do!" Ranul shouted. Celestia sighed and got up groggily. She really wanted to shout at her father, but she didn't dare. The four alicorns walked to the dining hall.
"You can't be all tired now." Laitselec said, as Celestia played with her food.
"Today's schedule is absolutely hectic! We have to go all around Equestria and meet other princes and princesses! Today's the Equestrotter day!" Celestia looked at Laitselec sleepily.
"That's today?" She asked. Laitselec nodded.
"How could you forget something so important?" Ranul asked.
"I've just been—-Really busy...." Celestia said.
"With royal duties. From yesterday." She was hoping that they would at least take a hint. Celestia had never done this ever before.... But Discord "inspired" her to actually do it. To stop being the goody-two-shoes Celestia. To start being more like Discord.
"Celestia, you're a princess. Of course you have responsibilities to do." Ranul said.
"I'm sorry if I sounded selfish...." Celestia said, though she didn't sound sorry at all. She sounded sarcastic.
"What's wrong with you, Tia?" Luna asked. Ranul glared at her.
"Luna, I told you to stop calling Celestia that." He said. Luna rolled her eyes. Whenever their parents weren't around, she would always call Celestia Tia. Normally, celestia would have nodded slightly, and Luna would have known that she was OK with that nickname, but this time she said it all.
"I'm fine with it, father." Celestia said. Ranul looked taken aback.
"You two are alicorn princesses. You have to act like royalty." He told them. Laitselec nodded in agreement.
"Does that mean we're not free to even call each other nicknames?" Luna asked. Laitselec sighed.
"Luna, we've gone through this already." Their mother said. Celestia actually spoke up.
"I think Luna has a point." She said. Laitselec looked at her with a raised eyebrow, and so did Luna.
"What's gotten into you?" Ranul demanded.
"You normally agree with us." Celestia shrugged. She said the words she never could have said before.
"That was then. This is now."

Celestia and Luna were sitting in a chariot pulled by two royal guards to travel to Maretonia, a part of Equestria.
"You actually answered back to mother and father." Luna said. Celestia smiled slightly.
"I just thought that... I shouldn't care about what other ponies think." She said softly, remebering the young draconequus. Luna laughed.
"Who are you and what have you done to Celestia?" Celestia laughed, too. Then Luna's smile faded slightly.
"It seems so unlike you..." She said. Celestia shrugged it away, blushing slightly. Luna seemed to be remembering something.
"Where were you, that night?" She asked. Celestia's face was red as a tomato now.
"You... You..." Luna began, Celestia shushed her quickly.
"Stop! Mother and father can't know." But she didn't know that the chariot carrying Laitselec and Ranul were right next to them.
"Know about what?" Ranul asked.
"None of your business." Luna muttered..
"LUNA!" Laitselec shouted.
"Show some respect!" Luna rolled her eyes.
"What is it that we do not know?" Ranul demanded.
"I ate too much cake last night...." Celestia lied. Laitselec and Ranul shot Celestia a glare.
"Celestia," Laitselec began, but Celestia cut her off.
"I know, I'm a princess, I should be responsible." She mumbled, or at least she thought it was a mumble.
"Celestia! What's gotten into you?" Laitselec said angrily. The chariot pulling their parents moved faster and Celestia looked down.
"Seriously though, a short trip out of the castle can't change you, can it?" Luna said. Celestia sighed. In her head, she was debating on weather to tell Luna about Discord or not.
"Did you talk to anypony?" Luna asked.
"Not exactly any PONY," Celestia began, Luna went to sit beside her.
"What do you mean?" She asked. Celestia tried to avoid her sister's gaze.
"You can tell me, Tia. I won't tell anypony." Luna said. Celestia sighed.
"Okay, I'll tell you. I met a draconequus." Celestia blurted out. Luna faced her smiling widely.
"A draconequus?" She asked loudly. Celestia put her hoof on Luna's mouth.
"Don't tell anypony!" She said. Luna shoved Celestia's hoof out of her mouth.
"Okay, okay! I won't!" Luna said.
"So... How was it like?" Celestia told Luna all about it all. About the draconequuses mistreatment. About everything Discord told her about, and how he somehow inspired her to not be so quiet.
"Can I meet this draconequus sometime?" Luna asked
"Sure. You'll find that he's a really nice draconequus. Despite his name, you know." Celestia said.

Celestia and Luna stayed at the balcony with large bags around their eyes.
"Are you sure we should still do this?" Luna said. She yawned loudly. As sleepy as Celestia was, she promised to meet Discord tonight, and Celestia never broke a promise. She yawned loudly, too.
"Luna, I promised Discord I'd meet him tonight." Celestia said sleepily. They both took flight.

"Discord?" Celestia asked. She and Luna walked slowly to the small cave.
"You came..." Discord said. He didn't expect Celestia to come at all. Then he heard more footsteps.
oh dear Discord thought. What if somepony discovered? Discord leaped out of the cave and in front of Celestia, who raised her hoof in shock. He snarled at Luna. The blue alicorn backed away. Discord almost lashed her.
"Discord, what are you doing?" Celestia demanded.
"What do you think I'm doing? This prissy pony is trying to break in!" Discord said. He punched Luna but missed. Celestia stared at Discord attempt to hurt Luna. Was he actually trying to... Protect her?
"Discord, that's my sister, Luna." Celestia said, chuckling. Discord stopped lashing Luna and blushed slightly.
"Oh..." He said. Luna glared at him.
"I can see why you are named Discord." She said. Discord glared back at Luna.
"Well, why don't we go... Inside the cave?" Celestia said Discord and Luna walked inside the cave, Discord and Luna still glaring at each other. They all sat down on the dirt under the cave.
"I didn't expect you to come back, Celestia." Discord said.
"And to bring your sister...." Celestia smiled at him.
"Of course I'd come back. I promised you. And I never break promises." She said. Discord smiled in return. Never in his life had he met a creature as decent as Celestia.
"I must say, you've made a great impact on my sister's personality." Luna said. Discord stared at Celestia.
"I... Did?" He asked. He had never felt so important in his life. Celestia nodded.
"Ever since you told me to not care about what other ponies think... To speak my mind out.... I let out what I've been keeping in." She said. Discord fumbled with his claws and paw fingers.
"I... Well.... Thanks?" Discord said. Luna yawned.
"I think we really need to go, Tia. We might fall asleep...." She said. Celestia nodded.
"We'll come again tomorrow night." She said. Luna shook her head.
"I think you and Discord are better off alone. I don't really like him so far." The blue pony said sleepily. She flew away from the cave.
"Luna, wait up!" Celestia said, almost sounding like a child.
"Wait! Celestia..." Discord said, just as Celestia opened up her wings.
"Your wings... They're so... big and..." Discord said. Celestia rolled her eyes in amusement and began to fly, when Discord held her back.
"Sorry, anyway, I just wanted to say that... Well.... You... You're the only decent creature I've met and.... I hope to see you again tomorrow night. If you don't have any princess activities..." He said. Celestia blushed.
"I will." She said. She opened up her wings and joined her sister in flying back to the castle.

Both Celestia and Luna woke up sleepily the next morning. They could barely walk to the balcony.
"If you're one second late, time will be messed up!" Ranul said. Luna sighed. Once they were at the balcony, she began lowering the moon. Luna tried her best, but nothing larger than a spark came out of her horn.
"Luna!" Ranul said.
"What are you doing?" Luna sighed and tried to lower the moon, this time it wobbled slightly, then uncontrollably. Ranul pushed Luna back, and she merely slumped on the balcony floor.
"Celestia," He said, glaring at Luna.
"Please lower the moon." Celestia groaned and recieved a glare from Luna. The white alicorn sighed and tried lowering the moon herself, but this time it was moving up and down uncontrollably. She panted and stopped using her magic, before quickly collapsing on the ground and falling asleep. Ranul sighed.
"I guess we have to do it." He said. Laitselec nodded, glancing at Celestia and Luna. Ranul lowered the moon and Laitselec raised the sun. They both glared at the two alicorn sisters. Ranul nudged them.
"You have to get up. Tomorrow's the Summer Sun Celebration." He said. Celestia didn't wake up, but she was surprised. That was tomorrow? The Summer Sun Celebration was an event when Celestia would raise the sun for everypony to see. Laitselec shook Celestia.
"Celestia! Please, wake up! Right now's your free day! I thought we'd spend some time together!" She said. Though Laitselec and Ranul were strict with both their daughters, whenever they had a free day, they all would have some fun. Celestia still remained on the cold floor, her head between her front hooves.
"I'd like to sleep in today..." She said sleepily.
"You've gotten all your rest last night." Ranul said.
"Or did you?"
The alicorns spent about 45 minutes shaking their daughters and telling them to wake up, only to recieve groans and snores right in the face. Soon they gave up.
"You haven't eaten breakfast yet! It's the most important meal of the day!" Laitselec said. She recieved no reply but the soft breaths of Celestia and Luna. Ranul sighed deeply.
"If you want to sleep in, you can for a few hours, but sleep on your beds, not here!" He said. Celestia and Luna remained sleeping. Ranul sighed once more, and, using his magic, she shoved them both into their beds.

Celestia and Luna woke up during noon that day. They both stretched their hooves and jumped out of bed.
"How long have we been asleep, Tia?" Luna asked. Celestia checked the sky.
"It's noon." She said, just loud enough for her sister to hear. She and Luna galloped to the dining hall.
"I see you've woken up." Laitselec said mischeviously. Celestia and Luna sat down on their chairs. Their servant served them oats and radishes.
"I wonder why you slept in though. I thought you got enough sleep last night." Laitselec said. Celestia mindlessly played with her food and blushed, trying to avoid her parent's gaze, while Luna merely looked down.
"Don't tell me you met any pony." Laitselec said, smiling.
"Did you have a date last night?" Celestia's ears perked up.
"No." She said sheepishly. Laitselec rolled her eyes in amusement.
"If you say so." She said. Celestia continued to eat, still thinking of Discord. That time when he tried to protect her and when he called her a decent alicorn.

Celestia lowered the sun, and Luna raised the moon again that night. Inside her mind, Celestia was debating on visiting Discord or not. Visiting Discord would mean missing the Summer Sun Celebration. And missing that would mean letting Discord down. But she didn't promise him she'd come? Had she? Celestia looked at Luna, who trotted back to the room. She walked after her, but Ranul blocked her.
"Celestia, I want you to be up and awake for this year's Summer Sun Celebration. Evrypony will be watching." He said. Celestia nodded slowly, her face full of confusion.
"Celestia?" Ranul said, clearly noticing the pink-haired alicorn's confused look.
"Do you understand me?" Celestia nodded, and she trotted back to her room and lay down on her bed.
"Are you visiting Discord tonight?" Luna asked. Celestia turned to the side of her bed.
"I don't know." She replied.

Celestia stepped up on the large stage, followed by a not-so-happy-looking Luna, then her parents, Laitselec and Ranul. There were thousands of ponies in front of her, all watching her intently. She wasn't paying attention to them, only to her own thoughts. About Discord. She felt a small nudged and took it as a call to raise the sun. Fireworks were booming at her sides as she was slowly flying upwards, stil thinking about Discord. As she was flying upwards, she was slowly rasing the sun, too. She flew high into the sky, where she flew when she first left the Canterlot Castle. The sun was raised, and it gleamed brightly. The ponies cheered, But Celestia was only thinking about one thing. Discord. She looked back. If she could just fly that way. If she could just visit Discord. Ranul flew up next to Celestia glaring at her.
"Celestia. Down." He said. The white alicorn shook her thoughts about Discord away from her head and gracefully flew back down. Ranul and Laitselec looked at her angrily.

"What has gotten into you?" Laitselec shouted. Celestia was in her room along with her parents and Luna.
"First you answer back to us, then you sleep in, then you mess up at the Summer Sun celebration!" Celestia looked down, still deep in thought about Discord.
"You can't go on acting like this." Ranul said. His voice was much deeper.
"What happened out there, Celestia?" Celestia was still thinking about the draconequus. How would he be feeling right now? Would he not be in that same cave the next night? Would he still think of her as decent?
"CELESTIA!" Ranul shouted. Celestia perked her ears up and looked at her parents.
"What. Happened. OUT. THERE?" Ranul demanded, his voice getting louder at every word he said. Celestia gulped.
"You haven't messed up in all your 5 years of doing this." Laitselec said seriously.
"Why did you mess up just now?" Celestia didn't answer.
"Answer me!" Laitselec shouted. Celestia sighed.
"You can't expect me to be perfect." Celestia said softly.
"What?" Ranul asked. Celestia's eyes narrowed.
"I said you can't expect me to be perfect!" She cried.
"Every single year this has been some tradition. And who said YOU didn't mess up?" She said, mentioning Laitselec.
"I'm serious now Celestia." Laitselec said through gritted teeth.
"Did. You. Meet. Anypony." Celestia looked at her angrily.
"Well, maybe I did!" She shouted at her face. Celestia ran out of the room and out of the castle once again. She didn't care if they caught up to her. She just wanted to see Discord. Even if it was day, she flew out to the spot where she met Discord and landed there. She walked to the small black cave and rested on a random spot. It was very soft...
"Discord?" Celestia asked. She recognized that fur.
"You're early." A voice said. It sounded very much like Discord.
"You are, too." Celestia said. She looked up and saw Discord's handsome face....
"Why are you here?" They both asked at the same time. Celestia sighed and told Discord everything.

"They always expect me to be perfect. Every single time." Celestia said. Discord carefully put his furry lion arm around her.
"I think you're perfectly imperfect." He said. Celestia smiled at him.
"Why are you here?" She asked.
"I was just crowned prince." Discord replied. Celestia looked at him wide-eyed. Discord explained that the Draconequuses have to go through a process called "Crowne Selection", where they get picked to be royalty.
"So... Do you want to be a prince?" Celestia asked. Discord shook his head.
"I just hope no one will ever find me here." He said.
