Dark times are coming curses are returning to the innocent those forgotten with time shall return but until destiny starts moving again I lay in the darkness waiting and guiding weather they know it or not the Harmony shall always be protected by the light. It was a beautiful in Canterlot day the sun was shining the birds were singing and Twilight Sparkle was brushing past everyone to get back to her tower until she bumped into somepony. "Oh hey watch it I, oh Dust i'm so sorry." Twilight said when she realized she ran into one of the few friends she had.
"Oh its no trouble Twilight. Tell me what has you in such a hurry?" Dust asked Dust was a blind unicorn with a light black coat, a silver mane and a vortex of dust as a cutie mark. he often helped Twilight with her magical studies also helped control herself case lets face it obsession and compulsion are the two middle names of the purple unicorn with pink in her mane.
as Twilight gathered her things she was tempted to confide in Dust. The older stallion was as wise as they come and had knowledge on almost everything. "Dust have you ever heard of the elements of harmony?" Twilight asked knowing that Dust would do that thing he dose when he thinks tilt his head to the upper right and scratch his chin. Then give her an answer so cryptic that the information she wanted was there but she had to work for it how she hated it when he did that.
When he was done thinking he gave her the look he always gives when he gets cryptic "I vaguely recall a prophesy but I don't believe in ponytails. Have a good day Twilight." Dust walked away with a smirk on his face knowing full well Twilight hates it when he dos that. Three two one aaand.
"Aaaaagh never mind!" Twilight screamed as she stomped off
Twilight after running into Dust realized that the key to finding out about the elements of harmony was in one of her old books "He couldn't just tell me could he, had to be all cryptic." she grumbled as she burst thorough her door. "Spike Spiike!" she called to the dragon she just hit with the door. "Oh there you are." she said when she spotted him on the floor. "Quick find me that old copy of predictions and prophecies." she asked as she searched for the book until she noticed a present on Spike's tail "Whats that for?" She asked.
Spike looked at his tail and picked up the present. "Well it was a gift for Moon Dancer but." He sighed as he looked at the now ruined present.
Twilight recalled a party she had been invited to on the way here but didn't really care. "Oh Spike you know we don't have time for that sort of thing." She said as she looked for the book.
"But Twilight were on a break you know that thing that happens when you get time off." Spike said trying to reason with her.
Twilight lit up her horn and started levitating books to her. "No, no,no, no no no agh SPIKE!" she yelled for her assistant.
"Its over here!" Spike called from the top of a ladder across the room waving the book.
Twilight grasped the book in her magic and pulled it and Spike towards her spike face planted and let go of the book as twilight inspected it "ah." She said as she walked to a pedestal and stared to look for the elements while spike cleaned up. "Element, elements e e e ah ha elements of harmony see Mare in the moon" She said confused.
"Mare in the moon but thats just an old ponytail?" Spike said as he was putting the books away.
Then it hit Twilight like a ton of bricks. "An old ponytail thats what he meant." Twilight teleported to another book shelf and started to look in another book. "Mare mare ah ha the mare in the moon myth from olden pony times a powerful pony who wanted to rule Equestria defeated by the elements of Harmony and imprisoned in the moon. Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year the stars will add in her escape and she will bring about night time eternal. Hah Spike do you know what this means?" she gasped as she looked to the dragon who was trying not to fall off the ladder.
"No." Spike said before he fell of the ladder and onto Twilights back.
"Take a note please to the princess." Twilight said as she helped spike down. "My dearest teacher my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster!" She said.
"Hold on." Spike said as he tried to sound out the word.
"Threshold." Twilight offered.
"Threeee" Spike once again failing to figure out the word.
"Brink." Twilight said starting to get unsure herself. But now Spike just looked confused. "Agh that something really bad is about to happen." She said finally getting through to the young dragon. "For you see the mythical Mare in the moon is in fact Nightmare Moon and she is about to return to Equestria and bring with her eternal night. Something must be done to make sure that this terrible prophecy dose not come true. I await your quick response your faithful student Twilight Sparkle." She said walking over to the window.
"Got it" Spike said finishing the letter.
"Great send it." Twilight said.
"Now are you sure?" Spike asked.
"Of course I am." Twilight said looking back at the dragon.
"I don't know Twilight princess Celestia is kinda busy with the summer sun celebration and its like the day after tomorrow." Spike said.
"Thats just it Spike the day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the summer sun celebration its imperative that the princess is told right away!" Twilight explained starting to get a little annoyed and see Spike once again struggling with the word her patience was about up. "Important!" She yelled causing spike to fall back.
"Okay, okay!" Spike said as he got up and torched the scroll with messenger flame. "There, it's on its way. But I wouldn't hold your breath..." He said as they watched the smoke go out the window.
"Oh, I'm not worried, Spike. The Princess trusts me completely. In all the years she's been my mentor she's never once doubted me." Twilight said Proudly.
"See? I knew she would want to take immediate action." Twilight said as Spike picked up the letter.
Spike then cleared his throat and began to read. "My dearest, most faithful student Twilight. You know that I value your diligence and that I trust you completely." Spike began as Twilight stood there smug. "But you need to get a life!" It was with these words that Twilight's world shattered.
After one of Twilights mental episodes we find herself and Spike on a royal chariot twilight moping to the side as spike re read the assignment part of the letter "My dear Twilight, there is more to a young pony's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location Ponyville. And, I have an even more essential task for you to complete make some friends!" Spike said happily but the mere mention of her assignment made her sigh with grief. "Look on the bright side, Twilight. The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library. Doesn't that make you happy?" Spike said trying to cheer her up.
Suddenly Twilight was struck with inspiration "Yes, yes it does. You know why? Because I'm right! I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can, then get to the library to find some proof of Nightmare Moon's return." she said with her head held high.
This made Spike a little conflicted "Then... when will you make friends, like the Princess said?" He asked.
Twilight snorted. "She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends." she said as the chariot landed. "Thank you sirs." she said to the guards pulling the chariot
As they got off the chariot Spike saw a light pink pony with poofy bubble gum pink mane and blue eyes and with three balloons for a cutie mark walking up to them and got an idea."Maybe the ponies in Ponyville have interesting things to talk about. Come on, Twilight, just try!"
Twilight looked at the pony nervously. "Um... hello?" she said to the pony.
"Daaaaaaaaagh" The Pony gasped loudly and ran off.
"Well, that was interesting all right." Twilight said walking off in a huff Spike sighed and followed.
As Twilight and Spike were walking along the path Spike was going over the checklist. "Summer Sun Celebration official overseer's checklist. Number one, banquet preparations Sweet Apple Acres." He said as they entered the farm.
"Yeehaw!" they turned there heads to see an orange mare with a dirty blond mane had tree apples for a cutie mark and was warring a stetson who had just kicked a tree to knock apples into a basket and crossed her legs proud of her work.
"Let's get this over with..." Twilight sighed as they walked over. "Good afternoon. My name is Twilight Sparkle." she introduced herself until she felt her body vibrating from the overly enthusiastic hoof shake the mare was giving her.
"Well, howdy-doo, Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance. I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like making new friends!" Applejack said finishing her hoof shake of death.
Twilight still vibrating said "Friends? Actually, I."
"So, what can I do you for?" Applejack asked.
Twilight's hoof still shaking so spike grabbed it to stop it snickering "Ahem Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. And you're in charge of the food?" She asked.
"We sure as sugar are! Would you care to sample some?" Applejack asked
"Well as long as it doesn't take too long..." Twilight said
"Soup's on, everypony!" Applejack called after ringing a triangle "Now, why don't I introduce y'all to the Apple family?" she said.
Twilight started to look nervous. "Thanks, but I really need to hurry." She said.
Applejack took a deep breath and introduced them. "This here's Apple Fritter. Apple Bumpkin. Red Gala. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp... haaaaagh Big Macintosh, Apple Bloom and Granny Smith. Up'n'attem, Granny Smith, we got guests."
granny snorted as she woke up. "Wha..? Soup's on? I'm up, here I come, ahm comin'..." she said as she walked over.
as Applejack walked back to Twilight she saw somepony walking up the the dirt rode. "Oh everypony he's here, he's here oh Twilight here comes the last person you need to see." She said excitedly.
"Who?" Twilight asked as she looked at Applejack.
"Applejack's very special somepony." Apple Bloom said smugly as she looked at her sister.
Applejack looked panicked and as red as her brother. "He is not, were just, shut up!" She said as the stallion walked up to them he was a tan earth stallion, with a fiery mane, he was wearing a black studded leather jacket, his cutie mark was a fire surrounded by chains,and wrapped around his front hooves were chains with runes engraved on them.
"Hey Applejack sorry I'm late I still couldn't find a place to live is it still alright if i crash in the barn?" He asked
"Yeah of course, as long as you want, Its no problem." Applejack said nervously. "Anyway Twilight this is Rider an honorary apple family member.
"Hey nice to meet you you wouldn't happen to know a guy named Shining Armor would you?" Rider asked.
"Yeah he's my big brother how do you know him." Twilight asked
"We maybe met a few times during work hours." Rider said taking a sip from a cup of cider from the table.
"Oh your a royal guard?" Twilight asked happy that she had somepony to help with Nightmare Moon.
"No bounty hunter." Rider said drinking more cider.
They were interrupted by Applejack shoving a apple in Twilights mouth. "Anyway thats Everypony why, I'd say you're already part of the family!" She said.
"Plagh ah ha ha ha okay, well, I can see the food situation is handled, so we'll be on our way." Twilight chuckled.
"Aren't you gonna stay for brunch?" Apple Bloom Asked using the most powerful weapon known to pony kind.
Oh my Faust thats adorable. "Sorry, but we have an awful lot to do..." Twilight said. must resist.
"Awwwwww." The Apple family sighed.
"...Fine." Twilight said as she sat at the table.
"Woooooo!" The Apple family cheered.
Twilight and spike were walking down the street, spike checking the list "Food's all taken care of, next is weather." He said while Twilight was lagging behind cause well...
"Ugh... I ate too much pie..." Twilight groaned as they walked.
Spike was looking around the sky. "Hmm, there's supposed to be a Pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds." He said
Twilight looked at the the sky full of clouds. "Well, she's not doing a very good job, is she?"
"LOOK OUT!!!" Somepony screamed as that pony slammed into Twilight.
"Nng." Twilight grunted as she thew up in the mud that they crashed in.
"eh he he he uh, 'scuse me?" The cyan mare with a rainbow mane
Twilight just grunted again in response "Nnnn."
"He he he Lemme help you." The mare said picking twilight up as she brought over a cloud and started jumping up and down on it. "Ah ha ha oops, I guess I overdid it. Um, uh, how about this? My very own patented Rain-Blow Dry! No no. Don't thank me. You're quite welcome." The mare said until she noticed Twilights mane "Bah ha ha ha." The mare burst out laughing and fell on the ground. and Spike soon followed
Twilight looked annoyed at the two of them. "Let me guess. You're Rainbow Dash." She said this got Rainbow's attention as she jumped into the sky and spread her wings.
"The one and only. Why, you heard of me?" Rainbow Dash asked from the sky.
"I heard you were supposed to be keeping the sky clear. Haa I'm Twilight Sparkle, and the Princess sent me to check on the weather." Twilight said as she watched Rainbow sit on a cloud.
"Yeah, yeah, that'll be a snap. I'll do it in a jiffy. Just as soon as I'm done practicing." Rainbow said waving off Twilight.
"Practicing for what?" Twilight snapped.
"The Wonderbolts! They're gonna perform at the Celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show 'em my stuff Especially haa Soarin." Rainbow said dreamily as she landed on another cloud.
And just like that Twilight Knew how she can get her to do what you wanted "The Wonderbolts?" She asked
"Yep!" Rainbow said
"The most talented flyers in all of Equestria?" Twilight asked.
"That's them!" Rainbow said.
"Pfft! Please. They'd never accept a Pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day." Twilight said smugly.
"Hey, I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat." Rainbow said in annoyance
"Prove it." Twilight said narrowing her eyes
Rainbow Dash narrowed hers back and launched into the sky breaking clouds left and right doing awesome Ariel flips and kicks while knocking into clouds like a pinball "Loop the loop around, and wham! What'd I say? Ten. Seconds. Flat. I'd never leave Ponyville hanging. You should see the look on your face. Ha! You're a laugh, Twilight Sparkle. I can't wait to hang out some more.
"That was amazing You got some moves." a voice said from behind them. Twilight and Rainbow looked towards the the voice to see a light blue Pegasus stallion withe a wavy black mane and a lightning blot in a cloud shaped like wings for a cutie mark.
"Soarin of the Wonderbolts ohmygoshohmygoshOHMYGOSH!" Rainbow squealed like a fangirl.
"I see my reputation proceeds me anyway I saw you flying it was pretty impressive. I got here early so I could enjoy the festival maybe you could give me a tour?" Soarin asked Rainbow Dash.
"YES! ah I mean sure I got time, got to go Twilight bye!" Rainbow said as she and Soarin flew off.
"Wow, she's amazing!" Spike said he turned to Twilight and started to snicker again.
"Rrgh." Twilight growled as she stomped off.
"Wait! It's kinda pretty once you get used to it!" Spike said as they walked towards their next destination.
After Twilight calmed down they headed for town hall. "Decorations. Beautiful..." Spike said looking up from the list as they entered the building.
"Yes, the decor is coming along nicely. This ought'a be quick. I'll be at the library in no time. Beautiful indeed." Twilight said looking around.
"Not the decor, her!" Spike said pointing to one of the two unicorns decorating the place
"No, no, no, oh! Goodness no." The alabaster mare with a purple mane and three diamonds for a cutie mark.
"How are my spines? Are they straight?" Spike said as he tried to fix his spines.
"Good afternoon." Twilight said.
"Just a moment, please! I'm 'in the zone', as it were. Oh, yes! Sparkle always does the trick, does it not? Why, Rarity, you are a talent." said.
"Thats alright Rarity I'll take care of this. Now lassie how can i help you agh Faith and Begorrah what in blazes happened to you!" said the unicorn stallion his coat was white, his bright orange mane was messy and, he had a four leaf clover for a cutie mark strange thing was half the clover was black.
"Clover darling What in Faust's name is the commotion aaaaagh oh my stars, darling! Whatever happened to your coiffure?! Rarity Gasped.
"Oh, you mean my mane? Well, it's a long story. I'm just here to check on the decorations, and then I'll be out of your hair!" Twilight said.
"Out of my hair? What about your hair?!" Rarity said as she started to push Twilight towards the door.
"Wait! Where are we going?! Help!" Twilight yelled.
"It's no use lassie when Rarity insists on something nothing can change her mind." Said Clover
And so Twilight was rushed to Rarity's Boutique where she fixed her mane and was now in the changing room putting on deferent dresses while Spike and Clover McLoven played cards in the lobby. "No, no, uh-uh. Too green. Too yellow. Too poofy. Not poofy enough. Too frilly. Too... shiny. Now go on, my dear. You were telling me where you're from." Rarity stared to pull on the dress twilight was wearing crushing her windpipe.
"I've... been sent... from Canterlot... to" Twilight tried to wheeze out
Rarity's eyes widened at the mention of the city "Huh?" she gasped and let go of the strap and crashed into the all "Canterlot?! Oh, I am so envious! The glamor, the sophistication! I have always dreamed of living there! I can't wait to hear all about it! We are gonna be the best of friends, you and I... Emeralds?! What was I thinking? Let me get you some rubies!" She said and went to get the gems.
Twilight saw her chance and ran out of the dressing room flinging the dress on the ground Picking up Spike who had lost all their bits in the poker game. Note to self scold him about that later. "Quick! Before she decides to dye my coat a new color!"
"Wasn't she wonderful?" Spike said dreamily until Twilight waked him on the head.
"Focus, Casanova. Your still in big trouble for losing all our bits. What's next on the list?" Twilight asked.
"Ahem oh, uh, music! It's the last one!" spike said rolling up the list suddenly they herd a fanfare being sung by birds. They Followed the sound to find a buttermilk yellow Pegasus mare with a light pink mane and three butterflies as a cutie mark conducting them. Beside her a dark azure stallion wearing a brown cloak and his mane was white mane and was spiked back like scales.
While the mare was conducting she noticed one of the bird's song was off "Oh my. Um, stop please, everyone, umm. Excuse me, sir? I mean, no offense, but your rhythm is just a teeny-tiny bit off. Now, follow me, please. A-one, a-two, a-one two three." she said but before the birds could start singing again Twilight interrupted them casing them to fly away
"Hello!" Twilight said causing the mare to yelp and The stallion to pull up his cloak as if he were trying to hide. "Oh my, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to frighten your birds. I'm just here to check up on the music and it's sounding beautiful.... I'm Twilight Sparkle...... What are your names?" She asked.
"Um... I'm Fluttershy." the mare mumbled.
"I'm sorry, what was that?" Twilight asked.
"She said her name was Fluttershy. You'll have to forgive her she doesn't do well around new ponies. I'm Swiftblade It's nice to meet you." He said.
"Well, um, it looks like your birds are back, so I guess everything's in order. Keep up the good work!" Twilight said awkwardly walking backwards.
"Oookay. Well, that was easy."
"HAAA A baby dragon!" Fluttershy exclaimed as she bumped Twilight out of the way. "Oh, I've never seen a baby dragon before. He's sooo cute!" She cooed.
"Well, well, well...!" Spike said smugly.
"Oh my, he talks. I didn't know dragons could talk. That's just so incredibly wonderful I, I just don't even know what to say!" Fluttershy said.
"Well, in that case we'd better be going." Twilight said.
"Wait, wait! What's his name? Fluttershy said.
"I'm Spike." he said
"Hi Spike, I'm Fluttershy. Wow, a talking dragon! And what do dragons talk about?" she asked.
"Well, what do you wanna know?" Spike asked.
"Absolutely everything." Fluttershy said.
"Aaaaagh." Twilight groaned.
"Well... I started out as a cute little purple and green egg..." Spike said as he told Fluttershy and Swiftblade his life story while they walked to the library.
"And that's the story of my whole entire life! Well, up until today. Do you wanna hear about today?" Spike asked finishing his story.
"Sure why not we got time." Swiftblade said.
Twilight had just about enough and when they finally got to the library she spun around "I am so sorry, how did we get here so fast? This is where I'm staying while in Ponyville and my poor baby dragon needs his sleep." Twilight lied.
"No I don't-- whoa!" Spike said as Twilight bumped him off her.
"Aww, wook at dat, he's so sweepy he can't even keep his widdle bawance!" She said in baby talk and mad a weird smile.
"Poor thing, you simply must get into bed..." Fluttershy said as she picked him up and flew in the library.
"Yes, yes, we'll get right on that. Well, g'night!" Twilight said as she slammed the door.
"Huh. Rude much?" Swiftblade said
on the other side of the door "Huh. Rude much?" Spike said.
"Sorry, Spike, but I have to convince the Princess that Nightmare Moon is coming, and we're running out of time! I just need to be alone so I can study without a bunch of crazy ponies trying to make friends all the time. Now, where's the light?" Twilight asked when suddenly the lights flickered on.
"Surprise!" Ponies cried out the light revealing a surprise party.
"Surprise!" The mare from earlier today said and blew a party whistle. "Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie, and I threw this party just for you! Were you surprised? Were ya? Were ya? Huh huh huh?" She asked.
"Very surprised. Libraries are supposed to be quiet." Twilight said.
"Well, that's silly! What kind of welcome party would this be if it were quiet? I mean, duh, bo-ring! Y'see, I saw you when you first got here, remember? You were all "hello" and I was all Daaaaaaaaagh, remember? Y'see I've never saw you before and if I've never saw you before that means you're new, 'cause I know everypony, and I mean everypony in Ponyville!"
"Aaaaagh." Twilight groaned and started to pour herself a drink
"And if you're new, that meant you haven't met anyone yet, and if you haven't met anyone yet, you must not have any friends, and if you don't have any friends then you must be lonely, and that made me so sad, then I had an idea, and that's why I went Daaaaaaaaagh! I must throw a great big ginormous super-duper spectacular welcome party and invite everyone in Ponyville! See? And now you have lots and lots of friends!" Pinkie Pie finished as steam stared to flow out twilights ears it looked like she was burning up.
"Are you all right, sugarcube?" Applejack asked Twilights main looked like it was laming as she ran up the stairs with tears in her eyes.
"Aww, she's so happy she's crying!" Pinkie Pie said.
Spike walked over to the drink table and looked at the bottle that Twilight poured. "Hot sauce. Ooh..." Spike said.
Pinkie Pie Poured the hot sauce on a cupcake and started eating "What? It's good!" She said.
"Is she going to be alright?" Rarity asked.
"Yeah she'll be fine she just needs to... Cool off" Spike joked.
"Agh little dude that was horrible." Soarin said. "Anyway Rainbow are going to introduce me to your friends?" he asked.
"Oh right well you'v already met Pinkie Pie, thats Applejack, he's Rider, this is Rarity, next to her is Clover McLoven, This is Fluttershy, And this is is actually I haven't met this guy yet." Rainbow said when she stopped at Swiftblade.
Fluttershy and Swiftblade blushed and looked at each other. "Oh um right a everypony This is Swiftblade my um colt ....Friend." Fluttershy said
"YOU HAVE A COLT FRIEND!!!" The girls yelled.
"Oh Faust it finally happened I. NEED. DETAILS." Rarity said as she and the other girls pulled Fluttershy to the side.
"Well then who fancies a pint?" Clover asked.
"Okay tell us everything." Rarity said.
"Oh um alright well it was about three months ago. I was on the edge of the Everfree Forest picking flowers with my animal friends. When suddenly a basilisk came out of the forest and attacked us. I thought i was going to die. Swiftblade saved me it was so fast I didn't even see it. The next thing i know the basilisk was slithering away in fear. But Swiftblade was hurt so i took him back to my cabin. He wasn't sure he could trust me at first but over time he began to trust me. We stared to get to know each other and well one thing led to another and we got together." Fluttershy said finishing her story.
"Awwwwww." the girls cooed.
"And thats the story." Swiftblade said as he finished the story of how he and Fluttershy met. As he and the guys drank mugs of the drink Clover brought.
"Dude this drink is awesome what is it?" Soarin asked.
"Yeah I hate to say it but Its even better then The apple families cider" Rider said.
"This ladies is the McLoven clan secret recipe for Ale." Clover said.
"Hey this could just be the Ale talking but you could totally sell this." Swiftblade said.
"Yeah I could all I've done for bits in ponyville is odd jobs." Clover said. and then he uttered the Five words every stallion says at least once in his life. "We should buy a bar." He said.
"Of course we should buy a bar!" Rider yelled as he thew his hooves in the air.
"And Dude. Dude. Dude the name of the bar McLoven's pub." Soarin said as he got another drink.
"That. Is. A great name for a bar!" Swiftblade yelled.
"Hey that old clock tower has an abandoned shop on the first floor, a storage basement and a loft behind the clock face. If we all chip in we could buy it!" Clover exclaimed.
"Dude this is awesome lets do it!" Soarin yelled.
"Yeah!" the guys Yelled together as they put their hooves together.
"Agh." Twilight groaned the party had been going on for hours and she couldn't concentrate. She heard the door open and looked towards it to see Spike wearing a lamp shade.
"Hey Twilight! Pinkie Pie's starting pin the tail on the pony! Wanna play?" Spike asked.
"No! All the ponies in this town are crazy! Do you know what time it is?!" Twilight asked.
"It's the eve of the Summer Sun Celebration. Everypony has to stay up, or they'll miss the Princess raise the sun! You really should lighten up, Twilight. It's a party!" Spike said as he went back to the party. Twilight turned over on the bed and started to mockingly imitate Spike.
"Ugh, here I thought I'd have time to learn about the Elements of Harmony but, silly me, all this ridiculous friend-making has kept me from it!" Twilight said turning over in her bed. "Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about everlasting night." Twilight recited the legend. "I hope the Princess and Dust were right... I hope it really is just an old ponytale..." Twilight hoped as she heard the door open again.
"C'mon, Twilight, it's time to watch the sunrise!" Spike said.
"Isn't this exciting? Are you excited, 'cause I'm excited, I've never been so excited-- well, except for the time that I saw you walking into town and I went Daaaaaaaaagh but I mean really, who can top that?" Pinkie Rambled as she and Twilight waited for the Princess.
Fluttershy started the fanfare while Mayor Mare entered the spotlight. "Fillies and gentlecolts, as mayor of Ponyville, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration!" she said as ponies cheered. "In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and celebrate this, the longest day of the year! And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria..." She said pausing for effect.
"Ready?" Fluttershy asked her birds.
"Princess Celestia!" The Mayor announced as Rarity pulled the curtain to reveal nothing.
"Huh?" Rarity said when she noticed there was nopony there. The denizens of ponyville started to chatter quietly and nervously.
"This can't be good." Twilight winced.
"Remain calm, everypony, there must be a reasonable explanation!" the Mayor said as she tried to calm down everypony.
"Ooh, ooh, I love guessing games! Is she hiding?" Pinkie guessed.
"She's gone!" Rarity exclaimed.
"Ooh, she's good." Pinkie said as a dark mist enveloped the stage causing everypony to gasp.
"Oh no... Nightmare Moon!" Twilight said as a dark alicorn mare appeared.
"Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious, little sun-loving faces." Nightmare Moon said.
"What did you do with our Princess?!" Rainbow Dash Yelled as she tried to attack.
"Whoa there, Nelly..." Applejack said as she grabbed Rainbow's tail.
Nightmare Moon chuckled "Why, am I not royal enough for you? Don't you know who I am?" She asked.
"Ooh, ooh, more guessing games! Um, Hokey Smokes! How about... Queen Meanie! No! Black Snooty, Black Snooty" Pinkie Rambled until Applejack shoved a apple in her mouth.
"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years? Did you not recall the legend?" Nightmare Moon asked as she got near Rarity. "Did you not see the signs?" She asked as she flicked Rarity with her mane.
"I did. And I know who you are. You're the Mare in the Moon Nightmare Moon!" Twilight exclaimed causing everypony to gasp.
"Well well well, somepony who remembers me. Then you also know why I'm here." Nightmare Moon said.
"You're here to... to." Twilight gulped.
Nightmare Moon chuckled. "Remember this day, little ponies, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!" She exclaimed as she broke into maniacal laughter as thunder cracked.
unbeknownst to anypony a cloaked pony with glowing eyes hiding in the shadows spoke "And so it begins." he said.
"Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Nightmare Moon laughed maniacally.
"Seize her! Only she knows where the Princess is!" Mayor Mare exclaimed as all of the guards and the wonderbolts attacked Nightmare.
"Stand back, you foals!" Nightmare yelled sending out a magic pulse crashing them all against the wall. Nightmare turned into a cloud of smoke and flew out the window. and suddenly everypony stated to panic.
"Ergh..." Applejack grunted as Rainbow broke free of her hold and started to chase the dark cloud.
As Rainbow Dash flew out the widow the others ran out the door. "Come back here!" Rainbow yelled as she continued to chase the cloud until she lost it. "Nighttime? Forever?" Rainbow said worriedly her keen eyes soon picked up a purple dot move towards the library Recognizing it as Twilight a thought accrued. "Where's she going?" Rainbow wondered as she dive bombed the window as the others followed Twilight.
"Uh... We gotta stop Nightmare!" Spike said a little dazed as Twilight put him to bed.
"You've been up all night, Spike. You are a baby dragon after all." Twilight said as she started to tear though the books. "Elements, elements, elements... Ugh! How can I stop Nightmare Moon without the Elements of Harmony?" Twilight screamed franticly.
"And just what are the Elements of Harmony?" Rainbow Dash asked as She got up into Twilights Face. "And how did you know about Nightmare Moon, huh? Are you a spy?" She accused. "Whoa!" she said as she felt her tail being pulled again, she and Twilight Turned to see Applejack with her tail in her mouth the others behind her.
"Simmer down, Sally. She ain't no spy. But she sure knows what's going on. Don't you, Twilight?" Applejack said after spiting out Rainbows tail.
"Hey Twilight were do you keep your ice?" Soarin asked as he nursed the bump on his head.
"I don't know its my first day here just check the kitchen." Twilight said as she started to pace. "I read all about the prediction of Nightmare Moon. Some mysterious objects called the Elements of Harmony are the only things that can stop her, but I don't know what they are, where to find them; I don't even know what they do!" She said as she started to put a grove in the floor.
"The Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide." Pinkie Pie said at a book shelf.
"How did you find that?!" Twilight asked franticly and bumped her out of the way.
"It was under "E"!" Pinkie Pie said in a sing-song voice.
"Oh." Twilight said sheepishly she opened the book to the page withe the information the needed "There are six Elements of Harmony, but only five are known, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty and Loyalty. The sixth is a complete mystery. It is said, the last known location of the five elements was in the ancient castle of the royal pony sisters. It is located in what is now oh no!" Twilight gasped.
"What were are they?" Asked Rider.
"Its in the, In the.....
"The Everfree Forest!" Everypony exclaimed.
"Whee! Let's go!" Pinkie Pie said as she stared to walk into the forest.
"Not so fast." Twilight said making Pinkie stop. "Look, I appreciate the offer, but I'd really rather do this on my own." She said.
"Sure let one mare go into a dark forest filled with Timber wolfs, manticores, cockatrice's basilisks, and face off against a dark alicorn who was able to overpower Princess Celestia Thats a great idea." Rider said sarcastically and started to chuckle until Applejack punched him in the side.
"No can do, sugarcube. We sure ain't lettin' any friend of ours go into that creepy place alone. We're stickin' to you like caramel on a candy apple." Applejack said walking into the forest.
"Especially if there's candy apples in there." Pinkie said. "What? Those things are good." she said as she walked in following the others.
"Aaaaagh" Twilight sighed.
"So, none of you have been in here before?" Twilight asked.
"Actually I come in here all the time the Everfree is were all the criminals go to hide, and so do escaped monsters from tartarus, I am a bounty hunter after all." Rider said.
"I kinda live here had some hard times I cannot wait until we buy that clock tower property i cant keep living in a tree." Swiftblade said.
"Ugh, Heavens you poor thing. I know what you mean Just look at it. it's dreadful." Rarity said.
"And it ain't natural. Folks say it don't work the same as Equestria." Applejack explained.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Twilight asked.
"Nopony knows." Rainbow Dash said as she flew from the shadows. "You know why?" she asked as she crept towards them.
"Rainbow, quit it." Applejack scolded no one noticing the black mist seeping into the rocks.
"Cause every pony who's ever come in, has never come out!" Rainbow exclaimed loudly. suddenly the ledge cracked and everypony plummeted down.
"Fluttershy! Soarin Quick!" Rainbow Dash yelled as she flew down
"Right!" Soarin called as he followed.
"Oh my goodness, oh my goodness." Fluttershy said.
everypony was screaming as the rockslide continued trying to dig their hooves in the ground to stop themselves. Rider saw a rock to catch himself on and thew his chains to Swiftblade an Clover rider hit the rock and stopped his and the others fall until Soarin came to pick them up. Rarity and Pinkie scrambled to catch themselves until rainbow and Fluttershy cam and caught them. Applejack caught herself on a root. Twilight screamed as she neared the edge close to falling off.
"Hold on! I'm a-comin!" Applejack called as she let go and slid down with more control this time she grabbed Twilights hooves before she could fall.
"Applejack! What do I do?" Twilight asked as she held onto Applejack her eyes strained as she tried to pull Twilight up until she saw something in the sky
"Let go." Applejack said.
"Are you crazy?" Twilight said as she grasped applejacks hooves even tighter.
"No I ain't. I promise you'll be safe." Applejack said.
"That's not true!" Twilight argued.
"Now listen here. What I'm sayin' to you is the honest truth. Let go, and you'll be safe." Applejack said with absolute certainty. Twilights eyes widened she took a deep breath and let go.
"Yaaah!" Twilight yelled as she felt terrified of dying until she suddenly stopped opening her eyes seeing Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Soarin. "Phew." she sighed in relief as they set her down. "Thank you" she said as Applejack leapt down the rocks to join them.
"Come on let's get a move on I'v been in this part of the forest before we have to get out of here quickly or they'l find us." Rider said as they stared running.
"Wait before who find us, before who find us!" Twilight panicked.
Everypony was running as fast as the could to keep up with Rider who was being very vague about what they were running from, and finally Twilight had enough. "That dose it I am not taking another step until you tell us what were running from!" Twilight demanded making her point by plopping herself on the ground and her nose in the air.
"Agh fine." Rider sighed in defeat he turned around. "On one of my trips into the everfree forest to catch a criminal i saw something, something bad." He said as everypony started to get a pit of dread in their stomachs. "when i finally caught up to him he was being ripped apart by the Blanks pony's of rotting flesh and lifeless eyes cursed by the forest long story short the zombie pony's of sunnytown." He finished with a sirius look on his face.
"Oh for the love of-gah theres no such thing as zombie pony's thats just an old ponytail!" Twilight yelled as she got up.
Rider got a smug look on his face "Oh right how silly of me we better get back to our quest to get the magical gems form the old Castile in the forbidden forest so we can beat the mare in the moon and save the princess." He said sarcastically.
"Ah he's got a point lass our situation is kinda like old mares tail a'course this could all be a daze of all the paint's i drank at the party." Clover said trying to figure out if he was drunk.
"Okay I understand that this is weird and that strange things happen in this forest and somethings right behind me isn't there" Twilight said as Everypony nodded fastly with a freaked out look on there face twilight turned around to see.
"Braaaaiiins" The zombie said as it opened it's maw reveling sharp teeth covered in dried blood its flesh hanging off by a thread just as it was about to bite into Twilight a spike a on a chain destroyed its head sending bones, bits of flesh and black blood everywhere.
"Twilight run everypony get behind me NOW!" Rider yelled as everypony scrambled behind him. More blanks started to come out of the forest as if sensing one of their brethren had fallen. no matter how manny were destroyed by Riders chain they kept coming. "Agh dammit I was hoping to save this for Nightmare Moon BUT YOU'LL DO!" Rider yelled as his chains suddenly ignited he wiped them in a horizontal ark setting all the blanks on fire they burned fast and quickly turned to dust. withe their task done Rider's chains went out and he collapsed on the ground.
"Faith and begorrah Rider what the hay was that I thought i was crazy but you take the prize you don't set your self on fire just look at your hooves!" Clover exclaimed drawing attention to Rider's hooves they were chard black, the fur gone, skin cracked, and a little bit of bone showing.
"Hmm thats a forth degree burn right there anypony got a med kit?" asked Swiftblade as he examined the burn.
"In saddle bag." Rider said through grit teeth
As Swiftblade dressed the wound Applejack was busy chewing Rider out for doing something monumentally stupid "An if you ever scare me like that again I'll shove that chain were the sun don't shine!" Applejack yelled finishing her rant.
"Yeah yeah." Rider said dismissively until Applejack wacked him in the back of the head "gah all right all right i'll be more careful." He said.
"Just what was that anyway?" twilight asked.
"Enchanted chains from tartarus any monster touched by the flame is instantly destroyed." Rider explained as they rested all the while unaware a dark mist in the shadows flew ahed of them.
We rejoin our heroes further down the path after Twilight used a healing spell on Rider so he could keep walking as they came upon the exit of the canyon. "Ah finally come on everypony the sooner we get out of this canyon the sooner we can save the princess." Twilight said as they trotted towards the exit when suddenly a manticore landed in front of them and roared. "A manticore!" she gasped. as it roared again. "We've gotta get past him!" she said as the pony's went into battle mode except for Fluttershy who gained a worried look.
Rarity ran up to it but jumped back to avoid a swipe of its claw turned and bucked it in the neck "Take that, you ruffian!" she taunted. the manticore responded by roaring in her face "My hair!" she cried the manticore growling in he face before he was blasted in the face by Clover
"Wait." Fluttershy tried to say but nopony heard her
The manticore roared as its paw was caught by riders chains. "I may not be abel to use my flames until I'm completely healed but i can still fight." Rider said holding the manticore in place.
"YEE-HAW! Git along, little dogie." Applejack said as grabbed the manticores mane until it thew her and Rider back at the others.
"Wait." fluttershy said a little louder as they flew past her.
"All yours, partners." Applejack said as she and Rider flew past Rainbow Dash and Soarin
"Were on it." Soarin said as he and Rainbow flew towards the manticore only to be swat away by his tail.
"Rainbow Soarin!"
"Wait!" Fluttershy said loudly only getting swiftblade to notice. the manticore grunted as he clawed the ground Twilight snorted coping the movement and led the pony's in a charge.
"WAIT!" Fluttershy yelled getting them to stop as she walked towards the manticore Twilight tried to go after her but Swiftblade stopped her.
the manticore growled as Fluttershy got near and raised its paw but it stopped when she nuzzled it's other paw "Shhh... It's okay." She cooed as the manticore grimaced and showed her his paw reveling a thorn. "Oh, you poor, poor little baby." she said.
"Little?" Rainbow Dash asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Now this might hurt for just a second." Fluttershy said as she grabbed the thorn with her teeth and pulled the manticore roared and picked up Fluttershy with its paws.
"Fluttershy!" Everypony screamed but stopped when they realized that it was purring and licking her
"Aw you're just a little ol' baby kitty, aren't you? Yes you are, yes you are." She giggled as everypony stared to walk past.
Twilight stopped to let Fluttershy catch up "How did you know about the thorn?" she asked.
"I didn't. Sometimes we all just need to be shown a little kindness." Fluttershy replied as the Pony's walked out of the canyon the thorn stated to spin and turned into dark mist and flew off into the forest
After the manticore now named Manny Roar by Fluttershy we find our heroes walking though a large glen
"Man this place would be awesome for some stunt flying." Soarin said as he looked around.
"No this place it's dangerous i can sense it." Swiftblade said his eyes turned into slits.
"What are you talking about Swiftblade?" Twilight asked.
"Swift what is it whats got you on edge?" Rider asked as a wind started to blow and with the wind came a sound a screech that chilled them to the bone.
"WYVERNS RUN!" Swiftblade yelled as they ran though the glen the wyverns hot on their tail they dodged left and right as the three wyverns breathed fire balls at the pony's. they turned a corner and reached a dead end.
"Were Trapped what do we do now?!" Clover asked as the wyverns landed in front of them baring their fangs.
"Stand back." Swiftblade said as he walked up to the wyverns and cracked his neck.
"Swiftblade what are you doing those things are going to eat you alive!" Twilight yelled she tried to go help but fluttershy put her hoof on her shoulder and shook her head.
The others watched in awe as Swiftblade threw off his cloak to reveal what he truly was a kirin, His spiked back mane started to form blades at the neap of the back of his neck going down his back all the way to the tip his tail witch was draconic in nature at the end of the tail was a scimitar like blade, His wings wide and dragon like and were sharp and metallic at the top like two katanas, And his cutie mark was a sword swing coated with blue fire. Swiftblade took a deep breath and unleashed a powerful!
The wyverns bowed their heads shivering their tails between their legs as the stared at Swiftblade in fear "Leave." he said in a cold tone the wyverns knew it wasn't a threat it was a command one they obeyed vary quickly. Swiftblade gave a sigh he knew what would happen next the friends he made would turn on him and he would have to leave even if Fluttershy vouched for him.
"That was awesome!" Rainbow Dash yelled confusing Swiftblade greatly. everypony stared to praise him.
"I you but huh?" Swiftblade managed to stutter out.
"What did you think that just because you'r half dragon things would change?" Rider said as he walked to the front of the group. "Look i'm a crazy bounty hunter that sets himself on fire if they can deal with me you'll be just fine now come on we'v got a princess to save." he said as they continued on their journey the dark shadow still following them.
As our heroes exited the glen and into a denser part of the forest Rarity looked around in disgust "Agh my eyes need a rest from all this icky muck." she complained as the area turned dark "Well, I didn't mean that literally." she said.
"That ancient ruin could be right in front of our faces and we wouldn't even know it. Twilight said as she and evreypony else started to bump into each other.
"Oh wait, I think I stepped in somethin'." Applejack grunted holding up her hoof.
"Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!" Fluttershy screamed.
"It's just mud." Applejack said until she looked in front of her. "Aah!" she screamed when she saw the horrifying tree in front of her suddenly the were surrounded by evil trees evreypony started to panic until the heard somepony laughing.
"Huh?" everypony asked.
"Aahahahahahahahahah, Bleh, Ooo, leleli hahahah." Pinkie pie laughed as she made faces at the tree.
"Pinkie, what are you doing?! Run!" Twilight screamed.
"Oh everypony , don't you see?" pinkie said cue the music.
"When I was a little filly and the sun was going down..."
"Tell me she's not..." Twilight asked.
"The darkness and the shadows, they would always make me frown..."
"She is." Rarity said.
"I'd hide under my pillow, From what I thought I saw, But Granny Pie said that wasn't the way, To deal with fears at all!"
"Then what is?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"She said, Pinkie, you gotta stand up tall, Learn to face your fears, You'll see that they can't hurt you, Just laugh to make them disappear, Ha! Ha! Ha!"
"Haaaagh" the pony's gasped.
"So, giggle at the ghostly, Guffaw at the grossly, Crack up at the creepy, Whoop it up with the weepy, Chortle at the kooky, Snortle at the spooky, And tell that big dumb scary face to take a hike and leave you alone and if he thinks he can scare you then he's got another thing coming and the very idea of such a thing just makes you wanna... hahahaha... heh..., Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuugh!" as Pinkie finished her song the trees went back to normal while everypony was laughing the dark mist flew on ahead.
We rejoin our hero's as in a laughing fit as they walk down the trail when they come across a raging river.
"How are we gonna cross this?" Pinkie Pie asked when suddenly she and the others heard something crying in the distance "Huh?" she asked.
A ways down the river the saw a river serpent with great hair. "What a world, what a world." the serpent cried.
"Excuse me, sir. Why are you crying?" Twilight asked as she walked up to the serpent.
"Well, I don't know. I was just sitting here, minding my own business, when this tacky little cloud of purple smoke just whisked past me and tore half of my beloved mustache clean off, and now I look simply horrid!" The serpent wailed.
"Oh, give me a break." Rainbow Dash grunted.
"That's what all the fuss is about?" Applejack asked.
"Why, of course it is. How can you be so insensitive?" Rarity asked as she got between Rainbow and Applejack "Oh, just look at him. Such lovely luminescent scales." she said.
"I know." the serpent sniffed
"And your expertly coiffed mane." Rarity complemented.
"Oh, I know, I know." The serpent said combing his hair.
"Your fabulous manicure." Rarity said.
"It's so true!" the serpent gasped.
"All ruined without your beautiful mustache." she said.
"It's true, I'm hideous!" The serpent cried.
"I simply cannot let such a crime against fabulosity go uncorrected." Rarity said as she gained a steely eyed look as she ripped a scale off of the serpent.
"Yow what did you do that for?" the serpent asked.
"Rarity, what are you?" Twilight tried to ask until Rarity swung the scale the sound of a clean cut caused the serpent to faint
When the other got the courage to look they saw Rarity's beautiful tail cut off she then used he magic to attach her tail to fix the mustache "Oh-hohohoho! My mustache. How wonderful."
"You look smashing." Rarity said admiring her work.
"Oh, Rarity, your beautiful tail..." Twilight said.
"Oh. It's fine, my dear. Short tails are in this season. Besides, it'll grow back."
"So would the mustache Steve." Rider said sarcastically.
"Ah Rider my friend how are you?" Rider's apparent friend asked.
"Pretty good on a hunt actuality oh right everypony Steven magnet, Steve everypony." Rider said introducing his friend.
Twilight gasped when she saw the water calm. "We can cross now. Let's go. Ah!" she yelped as she was raised up on Steve's back.
"Allow me." he said as he made a path for them. Unaware to are hero's the dark mist that Steven mentioned earlier had already went ahead to create a more difficult obstetrical.
After the encounter with Rider's friend Steven Magnet and several minutes of walking our hero's next challenge took the form of a wall with a gate bolted shut with a skull an cross bones mounted on top. In front of the gate a table of rune tile's on top of the wall a lighting rod as the pony's neared the gate the Skull suddenly came to life
"Halt none may pass unless they overcome the challenge of the runes select the rune name of the great Queen Faust and move on select the wrong rune and get zapped with that lighting rod and DIE!!!" The skull declared.
The pony's gasped. "But no one but the princess know's that!" Twilight yelled.
"Oh great the only pony who knows the information that can save the princess is the princess now what are we gong to do" Swiftblade grunted.
"No worry's lads and lasses i got this!" Clover exclaimed as he walked up to the table he's magic flared and he was surrounded be a green light he closed his eyes and picked up a rune.
"CLOVER!!!!" Everypony screamed they waited and waited but no blast of magic.
"Maybe it's out of battery's?" Pinkie asked with a shrug.
"You have chosen wisely proceed." The talking skull said as the table descended and the gate opened evreypony cheered.
Rarity rushed forward and glomped Clover. "Clover Mcloven don't you ever scare me like that again!" She said sternly.
"Dude that was amazing how did you do that?" Soarin asked.
Clover got up and brushed himself off then simply pointed at his cutie mark "Simple luck magic for a limited time I can make it so that anything that can go right or wrong will." He explained.
"Normally I'd start trying to learn about this but as fascinating it is we need to get going come on everypony." Twilight said as our hero's proceeded the dark mist flew out of the skull and headed to cut them off.
After the challenge of the runes our hero's trekked though what seamed to be the ruins of an old civilization. As they walked down the main street they began to see the castle over the horizon. "There it is, the ruin that holds The Elements of Harmony. We made it!" Twilight exclaimed as she ran towards it.
"Twilight, wait for us!" Applejack called as she and the others ran to catch up with Twilight.
"We're almost there. Whoa!" Twilight yelped as she almost fell into the gorge in front of her until rainbow caught her.
"What's with you and falling off cliffs today?" Rainbow asked as she pulled her up.
"Now what?" Pinkie sighed looking at the gorge.
"Duh." Rainbow dash said as she spread her wings and flew into the gorge.
"Oh yeah." Pinkie said.
Rainbow soon flew out of the gorge on the other side with the other end of the bridge in her mouth as she tied the fist string she head a voice "Rainbow..." the voice said.
"Who's there?" Rainbow yelled as she got into a defensive stance.
"Rainbow..." the voice said.
"I ain't scared of you! Show yourself!" Rainbow said throwing a few punches.
"We've been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the best flyer in Equestria." the voice said.
Rainbow Dash raised her eyebrow "Who?" she asked.
"Why, you, of course." the voice said.
"Really?!" Rainbow asked surprised. "I mean... Oh yeah, me. Hey, uh, you wouldn't mind telling the Wonderbolts that, would ya? 'cause I've been trying to get into that group for like, ever." she said.
"No, Rainbow Dash. We want you to join us, The Shadowbolts. We're the greatest aerial team in the Everfree Forest, and soon we will be the greatest in all Equestria, but first, we need a captain. The most magnificent" The Shadowbolt Leader said as she flew around Rainbow.
"Yep." Rainbow Dash blushed at the complement.
"Swiftest." Shadowbolt Leader said.
"Yes." Rainbow Dash said.
"Bravest flyer in all the land." the Shadowbolt Leader said.
"Yes, it's all true." Rainbow Dash chuckled.
"We need... you." The Shadowbolt Leader whisperer in Rainbows ear.
"WOOHOO!" Rainbow Dash whooped. "Sign me up. Just let me tie this bridge real quick and then we have a deal." she said as she tried to pick up the rope.
"No! It's them or us." The Shadowbolt Leader declared.
"Rainbow, what's taking so long?" Twilight called out she strained her eyes to see the Shadowbolts. "Oh no. Rainbow! Don't listen to them." she cried out in vain. as the fog thickened.
"Well?" The Shadowbolt Leader asked.
"You..." Rainbow Dash said as the Shadowbolt Leader gained a look of victory Rainbow continued. "Thank you! For the offer, I mean, but I'm afraid I have to say no." She said as she tied the rope. As she flew to he friends clearing the fog the Shadowbolts turned into the dark mist and flew towards the castle.
"See?" Rainbow Dash said as she landed while the pony's cheered "I'd never leave my friends hangin'." she said as they crossed the bridge.
At last our hero's reach their goal but with one slight problem. "WHY.WONT.THESE.STUPID.BUCKING.DOORS.OPEN!" Rider yelled as he rapidly bucked the doors to the castle.
Twilight rushed over to Rider "Take it easy let me try" She said as she inspected the lock. "This lock is heavily enchanted the doors reinforced the only way in is with the key but were is it?" She questioned.
"A Twilight I think i know were the key is." Swiftblade said as he stared upwards.
"Great were is it...." Twilight trailed of as she and the others fallowed Swift's gaze to see hundreds of bats hanging for the door archway in the biggest bats toe's was an ancient key. "Ok slight problem but all we have to do is get the key from the bats." she said.
"NO Twilight you don't understand those aren't you run of the mill Bat's their vampire bats they can suck a pony dry in 9.1 seconds!" Fluttershy Proclaimed.
"That would be so cool if it weren't about to hurt us." Rainbow said.
"All right evreypony stand back I got this." Soarin said as he took off as he reached the archway he gave a big flap of his wings sending a gust of wind disorienting the bats. "You want me come get me!" he yelled as he flew in the opposite direction of the castle the bats fallowing in what looked like a black cloud. Soarin started to climb into the sky the bats struggling to keep up. "All right its now or never." he said as he closed his wings and dived towards the bats and started to spin when he collided with the bats they got scattered and Soarin was still diving only now he had the key in his mouth. The bats realized this quickly and raced to catch up with him Soarin threw the key at the others. "Open the door now!" He yelled.
Twilight caught the key with her magic and opened the door everypony rushed inside Soarin was closing in on the door the bats hot on his heels the moment he got inside twilight slammed the door. "Soarin that was amazing!" She said.
Soarin dusted himself off and gave a smile. "Please Spitfire's morning warm up is harder then that now come on we have a princess to save." he said.
Unbeknownst to our hero's the bats outside started to dissolve into the dark mist that has been chasing them all night the mist suddenly grew two glowing eyes and a voice suddenly came from nowhere "That dose it this time no mercy." The mist said as it entered the castle through the cracks in the wall.
At last our hero's have reached their goal the elements of harmony siting right before them on pedestals.
"Whoa." Applejack gasped when she saw the elements. "Come on, Twilight. Isn't this what you've been waitin' for?" She asked as she stood next to Twilight.
"The Elements of Harmony, we've found them." Twilight exclaimed with joy as Rainbow, Fluttershy, Soarin, and Swiftblade flew up to retrieve them. "Careful, careful!" Twilight said as the set them on the ground.
"One, two, three, four... There's only five!" Pinkie pie said counting the elements.
"Where's the sixth?" Rainbow dash asked.
"The book said when the five are present, a spark will cause the sixth Element to be revealed." Twilight said as she approached the elements.
"What in the hay is that supposed to mean?" Applejack asked.
"I'm not sure, but I have an idea. Stand back. I don't know what will happen.
"Come on everypony. She needs to concentrate." Rider said. as he led the others out of the room.
As soon as the others left Twilight so she could concentrate the mist that had been fallowing them struck. "Aah!" Twilight yelled.
"Twilight!" Everypony yelled
The elements flew up in the tornado of mist. "The Elements!" Twilight screamed as she jumped into the mist taking her and the elements with it when it teleported.
All nine ponies started searching for Twilight the girls yelling over each other and the boys cursing themselves for being so careless.
"Twilight, where are you?" Applejack yelled out.
"Look!" Rarity yelled pointing towards a distant tower.
"Come on!" Swiftblade yelled as he headed for the tower the others right behind him.
As the mist appeared in the tower chamber Twilight was thrown out of it coughing she gasped when she saw the mist turn into Nightmare Moon who gave out an evil laugh.
Twilight stood up and got into a challenging stance "Hmph!" she snorted as she hooved the ground.
"You're kidding. You're kidding, right?" Nightmare asked in disbelief that this foal was challenge her.
Twilight wasn't kidding she charged Nightmare her horn drawn just before they collided Twilight teleported to the elements. "Just one spark." she said as she focused her magic. "Come on, come on. Aah!" she yelled as Nightmare appeared before her and shoved her away from the elements.
Nightmare was confused as to why twilight was smiling until she looked down to see the elements crackling with power "No, no!" she panicked until the power diapered.
Twilight gasped "But... where's the sixth Element?!" She asked.
Nightmare started to laugh manically. "You little foal! Thinking you could defeat me?!" She yelled as she stomped on the elements shattering them. "Now you will never see your princess, or your sun! The night will last forever!" she declared breaking out into an evil laugh.
Twilight had just about given up all hope until she heard it the voices of the others calling for her filled with concern she gasped a spark in her eye appeared. "You think you can destroy The Elements of Harmony just like that? Well, you're wrong, because the spirits of The Elements of Harmony are right here." she declared the others standing behind her.
"What?" Nightmare asked in shock.
Twilight turned to the others and began her speech "Applejack, who reassured me when I was in doubt, represents the spirit of... honesty!" she said as crystals started to float around Applejack and the other four girls. "Fluttershy, who tamed the manticore with her compassion, represents the spirit of... kindness!" she said. "Pinkie Pie, who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger, represents the spirit of... laughter!" she said "Rarity, who calmed a sorrowful serpent with a meaningful gift represents the spirit of... generosity!" she said. "And Rainbow Dash, who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the spirit of... loyalty!" she said the crystals floating around all the girls. "The spirits of these ponies got us through every challenge you threw at us." She finished.
"You still don't have the sixth Element! The spark didn't work!" Nightmare cried out desperately.
"But it did! A different kind of spark." Twilight countered as she turned to the others. "I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear you, to see you, how much I cared about you. The spark ignited inside me when I realized that you all... are my friends!" she said as she turned with her new friends beside her "You see, Nightmare Moon, when those Elements are ignited by the... the spark, that resides in the heart of us all, it creates the sixth element: the element of... magic!" she said as the sixth element appeared above Twilight.
"No! NOOO! I HAVE WAITED ONE THOUSAND YEARS FOR THIS YOU WILL NOT TAKE MY VICTORY FROM ME!" Nightmare screamed as she fired a blast of magic at the girls suddenly without thinking and no care for their own safety Swiftblade, Rider,Clover, and Soarin jumped in front of Nightmare's attack their eyes suddenly lit up with a golden light as the attack reached them a flash of magic blinded everypony Nightmare's attack backlashed and hit her she landed on the ground and the rainbow beam from the elements engulfed her.
"Ugh, my head." Rainbow grunted as she got up after the explosion.
"Everypony okay?" Applejack asked.
"Everypony but Soarin he hit his head again." Rider said.
"Ohmygosh Soarin are you okay!" Rainbow asked.
"FINLAND!" Soarin yelled in a daze.
"He's fine walk it off man." Swiftblade said.
"Oh, thank goodness." Rarity cried.
"Why Rarity, it's so lovely." Fluttershy said while Rarity was admiring her tail.
"I know! I'll never part with it again." Rarity said.
"No. Your necklace. It looks just like your cutie mark." Fluttershy said pointing to the necklace.
"What? Ooh. So does yours." Rarity said as Fluttershy gasped.
"Look at mine! Look at mine!" Pinkie pie said as she bounced up and down.
"Aw yeah." Rainbow Dash said as she puffed her chest out.
"Gee, Twilight! I thought you were just spoutin' a lot of hooey, but I reckon we really do represent the elements of friendship." Applejack said.
"Indeed you do." a regale voice from the window said.
A bright light shined though the room and from it appeared "Princess Celestia." Twilight said running to her teacher while the others bowed.
"Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student. I knew you could do it." Celestia said nuzzling her student.
"But... you told me it was all an old pony tale." Twilight said confused.
"I told you that you needed to make some friends, nothing more. I saw the signs of Nightmare Moon's return and I knew it was you who had the magic inside to defeat her, but you could not unleash it until you let true friendship into your heart. Now if only another will as well." Celestia said as she walked past her little pony's "Princess Luna!" She said in a stern voice making the now purified mare gasp. "It has been a thousand years since I have seen you like this. Time to put our differences behind us. We were meant to rule together, little sister." She said as she approached Luna.
"Sister?" Everypony gasped.
"Will you accept my friendship?" Celestia asked the tension was thick everypony was leaning forward Pinkie leaned to far and fell.
"I'm so sorry! I missed you so much, big sister!" Luna cried as she hugged her sister.
"I've missed you, too." Celestia sniffed.
"Well it's about time." a calm voice from the shadow's said everypony turned to see Twilight's friend Dust but something was different he was taller then she remembered his silver mane seemed to glow and he was wearing a cloak.
"Stardust!" Luna cried in happiness as she tackled the stallion to the ground and kissed him his cloak now discarded revealing a set of wings causing everypony to gasp
The now revealed Alicorn Stardust embraced Luna "My precious Luna how I've missed you so." he said wrapping his wings around her
Celestia walked over to them with a look of shame"Hello Stardust." she said.
Stardust stood up with a neutral face. "Celestia I have only one thing to say to you I forgive you." He said with a smile as all three of them shared a hug.
"I huh wha Dus.. I mean Stardust I I don't understand
Stardust walked over to Twilight. "Simple really normal pony's look at time like their watching a parade one thing after another passing by in sequence right in front of them I see the parade from above all the twists and turns it might or might not take." he said with a wink.
"You knew all this was going to happen all of it even this part!" Twilight realized
"Everything's the way it's supposed to be Luna is back you and your friends have met and i believe this worents something Miss Pie
"Hey your right, you know what this calls for?" Pinkie asked excitedly.
"A party!" Pinkie pie said throwing her hands in the air as the entered ponyville the citizens cheering spike running up to twilight to give her a hug some foals giving Luna a floral necklace while Stardust stood next to her his cloak on while everpony was enjoying the party Twilight had a sad look on her face.
Celestia walked up to twilight. "Why so glum, my faithful student? Are you not happy that your quest is complete and you can return to your studies in Canterlot?" she asked.
"That's just it. Just when I learned how wonderful it is to have friends, I have to leave them." Twilight said.
Celestia had a thoughtful look on her face. "Spike, take a note, please. I, Princess Celestia, hereby decree that the unicorn Twilight Sparkle shall take on a new mission for Equestria. She must continue to study the magic of friendship. She must report to me her findings from her new home in Ponyville." She decreed as everypony cheered.
Everypony gathered in a grupe hug. "Oh thank you, Princess Celestia! I'll study harder than ever before." Twilight said.
Pinkie Pie suddenly started to speak to an open field "Isn't this exciting? Are you excited cause I'm excited I've never been so excited, well, except for the time that I went haaaaaa but I mean really..." She said.
"Pinkie pie leave the forth wall alone!" Stardust yelled.
