A Stroll of Thoughts

It was a bright sunny day in Equestria and Discord was ready to come out of his cave deep in the Ever Free Forest to make something worthy of himself that day. "Another day free from stone! But now that I am reformed, I can't spread my chaos" Discord grunted as he summoned a glass of chocolate milk. "Why do I even listen to Celestia and Luna? I could steal the elements whenever I want and cause havoc every where I go!" he shouted out, then remembering the reason why he does not spread his chaos. "My dear Fluttershy, my only friend, that is why." He smiled at the thought that he has finally made a friend after years of being imprisoned alone in the darkness. He looked at the position of the sun. Noon..he thought to himself as if trying to remember something. "NOON! I am suppose to have a picnic with Fluttershy at 1:00!" He wasted no time and quickly headed out to Ponyville.

As he walked through the Ever Free Forest, he halted to a stop. "I should take something to show Fluttershy that I am worthy of a friend..." He looked around while walking to the direction towards the market, trying to get an idea of a gift. "What kind of gift would show my kindness towards her.." Discord caught a glimpse view of a dandelion near him and headed towards it. "Very lovely I say.. flowers for a beautiful mare like her" He smiled, but quickly changed his expression to a frown as he looked over to the muddle puddle near the dandelion, "I should really stop talking to myself."

Fluttershy sang a tune while she put salads, muffins, and delightful treats into the picnic basket. "Oh, what is it angel," she asked with her sweet soft voice as Angel bunny thumped his foot against her back hoof while pointing at the basket, as if to say something. "Don't you worry Angel bunny, Discord has been reformed for a while, and I trust him as a friend." She then got a long checkered red-and-white blanket and folded it neatly on top of the basket full of treats, then faced Angel. "I will be back by 2:30, don't worry Angel bunny." Fluttershy tried giving him a quick nuzzle on his forehead, but he rejected until he finally gave in. Fluttershy smiled and headed out the door to meet Discord at the hillside.

"May I please have a bouquet of daisies," Discord asked the merchant while pointing at the white delicate flowers.

"Eight bits," he growled at the draconequus.

Discord had a puzzled expression since the merchant exceeded two bits more than the original price. "Sorry to break it to you buddy, that sign says six bits a bouquet, not eight."

The merchant was surprised by the creatures argument, then grinned, "That sign applies to ponies, sir, not creatures such as you. Now I repeat, eight bits.

"Insult this poor creature now will you. I am mostly part pony, so I say, six bits." Discord said, confidence in his argument, but it had failed him for the merchant denied the offer.

"Nine bits, or no flowers, your choice."

"How dare you?!" Discord puffed, trying to keep his anger in. "Fine, 9 bits." Discord gave the merchant nine bits as he handed him the bouquet, missing one flower, but he did not bother arguing, for he knew it would be no use. He looked at the sun's position once more, hoping he wasn't late to the picnic. Thirty past noon... He walked through the town, realizing how long he had not been there. The whole town was quite organized and protected from any harm, like he caused many times in Equestria. Was I really such a heartless monster?, he thought to himself with a sad expression. He shook the thought off as he started hearing ponies whispering. He looked around and saw how ponies were watching him and giving rude comments as he walked through the town.

"What is that?" whispered a mare as he looked around.

"Looks like that monster that made Ponyville the chaos capital once.." said a stallion far to his right.

Discord couldn't take such rude comments, so he strolled of to walk through a different route. As changed direction, he wondered why he was always insulted and never loved. He had never had friends, until Elements of Harmony helped him get reformed, gaining the Element of Kindness as his new and first friend. It wasn't that hard for them to become friends, but he knew it would be almost impossible to get another friend besides Fluttershy, for he is mostly hated across most parts of Equestria. Atleast she thinks im worthy of trust. He didn't realize the quietness around him as he walked half-minded. "Why didn't I ever take this as my first route?" he pondered out loud, then realizing why he avoided this direction. This whole part of Ponyville was for mare friends and colts. Every restaurant was filled with couples in love, enjoying every moment they spent together.

Discord sighed, knowing he wouldn't be able to make friends as quick as other ponies do, even less trying to gain a mare friend. He knew he wanted company and not only from a friend, but someone who loves him for who he is and will spend the rest of their living pony days with him. He had always ignored these kind of thoughts, but know that he had a friend, they started coming back to him. "Fluttershy will do for now. She is my only friend, and I appreciate her kindness." Discord then quickly smiled as a new thought came into his mind. He then got on all fours, holding the bouquet in his mouth, and ran all the way to meet his friend at the hillside.

An Unusual Request

Fluttershy set down the blanket and started setting down the plates and utensils. She set everything down and took out a vase, filling it with water. "Oh my..." Fluttershy looked inside the basket, looking for the rose she was suppose to put in the vase. "Did I forget it?"

"Forget what my dear?" Discord said, panting a bit from the run.

Fluttershy squeaked at the sudden appearance of Discord, but then answered back. "I seem to have forgotten the rose for the vase I brought."

Discord seemed relaxed at hearing her angelic, sweet soft voice, and then shot a sudden look at Fluttershy. "Will these work for the vase?" He quickly threw his lion paw toward Fluttershy, holding the bouquet of daisies.

"Oh Discord, they're lovely." She took the flowers and but them in the purple vase, setting it in the center of the blanket. "I'm glad we planned a picnic on such a beautiful day."

"Beautiful day indeed, Fluttershy." He strolled his thoughts and started daydreaming while facing the sky, laid out on his back. "What will we eat on this special day, my friend?" he asked, not taking his eyes off the sky.

"Would you like a cucumber salad?" She took out a bowl of freshly made salad, and a variety of dressings.

"Please accept my dearest apology, but I pass." He responded, summoning a glass of chocolate milk and pink cotton candy. "How has your day been, dear?" Discord asked, still not taking his eyes off the sky.

"Oh it has been quite lovely. I woke up to sunrays illuminating my room in all directions. Its Saturday, so I do my usual routine at the spa with Rarity, which was very relaxing. I then came home to feed all my awakening friends outside and I gave a quick clean to my cottage. Last, I set up the picnic basket and I arrived here. How has your day been, Discord?

"Hm, oh yes, it's been.. also lovely." He started remembering the scenes that had happened earlier that day. He was wondering if he should tell her or not, but he will have to eventually bring up the topic since she was his only friend, and he had a question needing to ask her.

"Is something wrong Discord," Fluttershy asked, breaking the silence. "You seem to be oddly quiet, and staring at the sky more than usual." The tone in her voice seemed more worried than usual also, and Discord didn't want her to feel like that.

"My dear Fluttershy you see, you are my only friend. I don't know what would happen if you ever lost trust in me.." He paused, a horrified expression in his face, imagining what would actually happen. He shook the thought and stared at Fluttershy, continuing his words. "Today, I went around Ponyville, and many ponies were insulting me and treating me differently. I can't make friends, and less.. a mare friend. Fluttershy, will you teach me how to approach a mare and get her to like me?"

Fluttershy sat in silence, then sighed and answered. "First of all Discord, I would never lose trust in you, you are such a good friend and you have really changed. And, oh my.. I don't know how to help with the mare situation.."

Discord frowned at her last words, but quickly looked at Fluttershy and smiled at her next words. "But, I will do anything to help a friend." She squeaked as Discord brought her into a sudden hug, but relaxed and answered back with embrace.

"Thank you very much, sweet Fluttershy." Fluttershy stared into Discord's eyes, seeing that tears began forming into his eyes.

"Anything for a friend, right?"

"Indeed. Now, how about eat some blueberry muffins?" He took out a muffin from the basket and started eating out of it. "I simplfy love vthese mufvins." He tried talking with his mouth full, then apologizing for such act. Fluttershy simply smiled at him, and turned her head to look at the sight of Ponyville downhill. She opened her mouth as if to ask something, but quickly shut it, sighing in the process.

"What's the matter Fluttershy?" Discord asked, a concerned tone in his voice. Fluttershy stared at the grass, then into his eyes. "Is something bothering you? You can tell me everything.. friend." He had paused at the last word, but giving Fluttershy a reassuring smile. She sighed, and gave in to what she had to said.

"Discord, if you don't mind me asking, why do you all of a sudden want a mare friend?" she asked, grabbing a muffin for herself. Discord didn't answer, as if trying to figure out what she meant. "Have you ever had a mare friend?"

"Is this important?" Discord snapped back, making Fluttershy a bit afraid of the situation. Again, silence stood while they ate their picnic. Discord looked up at the sun, it was two hours past noon. "My dearest, I think we should get going, you don't want to be late to feed your animals."

"Yo-ou're ri-ight.." She stammered, quickly putting everything away in their place in the basket. "Same time M-monday?" Discord thought of her question, and responded with delight.

"How about your cottage next time dear?" He responded with delight in his tone. "I bet we can have much more fun! We can also discuss more about today that day, how does that sound to you?" Fluttershy was trying to process what he said.

"That would be new, but surely it will be delightful." She smiled at him, and lunged to hug him. Discord wasn't such a person to receive hugs so often, on the count that this is his second one today. "I should get going to my friends, I don't want to be late. I'll see you Monday then?" She let go of the hug, and grabbed her basket, heading off to her cottage.

"Bye bye, dear!" He waved and smiled to her, but then changed his expression, tears forming in his eyes. Maybe if you were still here, you could show everyone that I wasn't such mean creature before. He wiped the tears, and flew to his cave in the Ever Free forest, still wondering about a certain pony he used to know.

Memories of the Past, Magic of the Present

Amantha... Discord sat on a rock, staring at a puddle forming outside of his cave. After the quick week of sunny days, it ended on a strong downpour in the Ever Free, while Ponyville stayed at their schedule, with beautiful sunlight. Discord stood up, accidently stepping on the puddle, growling at his mistake he had done, and the one from the previous day. "Why did I ask her for help? I mean, a creature like me isn't possible to gain a companion." Discord has been reformed for five months already, and it bothered him. He puffed in frustration and laid on the floor stomach down as countless memories flooded back in his mind.

Fluttershy looked out her window, into the down pouring Ever Free forest. She thought about the situation that happened during her and Discord's usual picnic. "Why does he want a mare friend? I mean, last time we met, he only needed a friend. Am I not enough for him?" She kept asking her questions out loud, but quickly came to a halt. "Oh Fluttershy, your showing the obvious again." She sighed knowing she had little affection towards her draconequus friend. During the time he settled in her cottage, she never felt anything but friendship, until he moved out to live in the Ever Free, she knew she had feelings. "Maybe I can be his-" She suddenly stopped as she heard a knock on the door. Fluttershy approached the door, and opened it with her hoof. "Oh hello there Twilight, hello Spike."

"Hello Fluttershy, I was wondering-"

"Do you want to come and watch twilight perform her new spell!!" Spike said, interrupting Twilight's sentence. "Oh, sorry Twilight." Fluttershy giggled as Twilight rolled her eyes.

"As Spike said, would you like to join us?"

"That would be wonderful, where will we go?"

"Just outside here, I thought I could take my magic outside of the castle once in a while." Twilight spread her wings, pointing to the few Ever Free trees, ready to take off. Fluttershy was afraid with the idea of going close to the Ever Free, but she did want to go out of her cottage as well. "Off we go then?" Twilight lifted herself up with Spike on her back, followed by Fluttershy into the entrance of the forest.

"Come here!" Amantha called out to Discord, while running towards a tree full with flowers. "I love this place! Don't you? My mom used to take me here when I was just a little filly." Discord sat down next to Amantha under the blooming tree, and sighed, holding her hoof. "Oh look!" She let go of Discord's claw, and pointed very closely to a dandelion. "My mother always said if you blew on them, and they traveled far, they would carry your wish and make it come true." She slowly blew on the wishing flower, closing her eyes in the process hoping her wish would come true.

"What did you wish for sweetheart?" Discord asked with a happy expression in his face, hoping it had to do with him.

"It wont come true if I tell you." Amantha giggled and rolled over, pushing Discord down on the grass with a hug. "Haha! Did I scare you?" Discord indeed was startled, but grinned and brought her into a deep kiss. They enjoyed their moment as the Spring's breeze went through their body, bringing them to shivers, causing them to pull each other closer.

"What a lucky draconequus I am to be able to have the most beautiful Alicorn ever, the Princess of Blooming, the sun ray of my life, as my mare friend." Discord gave her a peck in the mouth, and sighed. "If I hadn't stumbled into you that day, I would have never met you or have you right here at this moment." Amantha stood up and laid down next to Discord, and gazed at the sky. It was a silent moment, but one they could both enjoy by just being in each others presence. Amantha closed her eyes, remembering the day she met him by the end of the Living Forest that connected to the land where all ponies were united. She drifted off to sleep in her Special Some Pony's arms as he stoked her mane. "I love you my dear, never forget that."

Fluttershy watched as her friend approached a rose, getting prepared to cast her new spell on it. Twilight slowly started to work her magic, closing her eyes to focus clearly on what she was expecting to happen. Fluttershy backed a few steps as Twilight's horn started to illuminate a lavender color, also affecting the flower in the process. Spike closed his eyes keeping one open to see the action happen. Both the dragon and pegasus gasped at the scene that stood before them, glowing with powerful magic.

"Oh my Twilight, how did you learn a spell like this?" Fluttershy held a hoof to her chest as she stared at what was one a full blossomed rose turned into a simple closed bud. "Didn't you say age spells we're for the highest level unicorns and alicorns ?" Twilight was sweating from the new spell she had cast successfully, but turned to her friend and cleared her throat.

"Well you see, it's a simple age spell, not requiring much energy or magic for strong unicorns. Princess Celestia said I should work on spells like this to increase my magic level. This is the first time I cast it on something, so of course it would be difficult, but I will be able to handle it with more ease in the future. I am impressed myself that I could work it the first time I tried it." Twilight beamed, knowing she had completed a high level task, making her proud.

"Will it affect the flower? I mean, like it's photosynthesis..." Fluttershy spoke her last words quietly, afraid that she would be acting rude towards her friend, also a princess. "I don't mean to be rude, but isn't it bad for it?" Twilight held a hoof to her chin, thinking about her friends question.

"Hmm. Oh my gosh! I should ask Princess Celestia for a book that shows me the effect it takes when an age spell is cast on a living thing. Great question Fluttershy, for now, I will keep my spell from use until further notice." Twilight grinned at the thought about learning more about aging spells. Fluttershy felt relieved knowing that her friend didn't find her rude, and took her question into consideration.

"In the meantime, would you like to come over and have some tea?" Fluttershy asked, as if she needed company at the moment. "We could talk about your age spell if you would like."

"That's a wonderful idea! Thank you Fluttershy." Twilight, Spike, and Fluttershy headed to the cottage as the sun was glowing right above them, illuminating all of Ponyville. Maybe I can talk to her about it. She is the Princess of Friendship after all. Fluttershy gazed to the Ever Free forest then back to her friend, and smiled as they trotted.
