*Buries head in snow*

And then she was a dog!

Sonata hummed a little song to herself as the puddles beneath her feet made their little splishes and splashes. She let her arms sway with her hips as she walked to the rhythm, patting her sides to make a little beat. Her humming was off key, something that she didn't really mind as much as her co-conspirators. One of which, was standing next to her, preparing herself to slap Sonata with so much force, her head would spin like a helicopter's blade and take her into the ionosphere.

Adagio didn't like the idea of walking everywhere with Sonata whenever she wanted to get out of the apartment. Admittedly, it was nice to get out of there every now and again, but being a babysitter to a hundred-thousand-something who had the brain that was the size of a pea, while she made music that shouldn't even be considered music was certainly something that wasn't on top of her to-do list. But being the elder of the group, as well as the leader, she couldn't just cast away her duties and leave Sonata to get herself into trouble when she went out by herself.

That, and it was her week to do so.

"Sonata?" Adagio said while grinding her teeth.

Sonata stopped herself and looked in Adagio's direction. An innocent smile creeped along her face.

"Yes."

"Would you kindly refrain from making noise while I try to think?"

"Aww!" Sonata folded her arms, pouting like she was a four-year-old.

"Thank you." Adagio folded her arms as well, placing her hand on her chin and looking back to the ground.

"Why are you and Aria so grumpy?" Sonata asked.

"Let's see. I've been stripped of my immortality and magic because of some stupid teenagers, forced to go to that dump they call a school, I'm stuck with the two of you until I can find a place of my own or die, and-"

Adagio stopped walking and stopped speaking altogether. Sonata kept walking, only looking back when Adagio stopped.

"Adagio?" Sonata asked.

Adagio stared off into the distance, narrowing her gaze and furrowing her eyebrows. Her head tilted to the side while she looked at nothing. And from out of nowhere, Adagio's face turned into a dog.

Just like that. No warning, no flash, no magic aura, nothing. Just a popping sound that you could make with your mouth.

The dog on Adagio's face looked around, sniffing the air like it was a dog.

Oh, wait.

"Uh..." Sonata said, awestruck.

"Woof," it said, unemotionally and blandly.

Sonata just stared while the dog stared back.

"much queshun. so confuse. wow."

"Hey Aria, we're back!"

"Great. Welcome home," she said while watching TV.

"very greeding. much hello. wow."

Aria looked away from the TV, and her face nearly splattered to the ground like an ice cream cone.

"Sonata."

"Yes?"

"What... happened?"

"I don't know. We were just walking, Adagio was complaining and being a grump, and then-" Sonata made a popping sound with her mouth "-she was a dog."

"...Are you serious?"

"Yeah. She really made that noise."

"No, I mean she just... turned into a dog? Out of nowhere?"

"Uh-huh. We were just-"

"I know what happened. What I want to know is... why."

Sonata placed a hand to her chin. Aria swore she could see smoke coming out of her head.

"much think. very thought. wow."

"Can it, you." Aria snapped at... Adagio.

"I got nothin'. Maybe she had it coming."

"If she had... this coming, then how come we haven't been turned into dogs? And why a dog? What kind of a punishment is that? What lesson could we possibly learn from that?"

"Maybe not to make people do our bidding?"

Aria puzzled. She puzzled and puzzled and puzzled, but her brain could not possibly think of an explanation for this. This didn't just happen because something demanded it to happen. Did Adagio do something piss off some really powerful person? Did she-

"Aria!" Sonata suddenly shouted.

"What?" Aria shot back.

"Can we keep it?"

"...Can you please say something not completely idiotic for once?"

"Harrumph," Sonata pouted. She walked over to the couch and plopped down, folding her arms once again.

"much frustration. very anger. wow."

Aria thought some more. Maybe it was Star-Twirl, or whatever he was called. Maybe he heard about what he did here and didn't feel like punishing us, so he just did this.

"Aha!" Sonata threw her arm up in the air and stood up. She twirled around to look at Aria like she was a ballerina.

"What now?" Aria placed a hand to her forehead and rubbed it gently.

"Adogio!" Sonata triumphantly shouted.

Aria stared at Sonata. The world seemed to slow down around her, and she suddenly felt light-headed. She couldn't muster any kind of word that could have expressed what she was feeling. Even Aria herself didn't know what she was feeling. It was like she was meeting her father while watching him as he rocked back and forth on a rocking horse while eating the peel of a banana. So many questions she had were just answered because Sonata uttered that word like she did it everyday.

She found herself tearing up. "I'm going to take a walk." she said, fruitlessly trying to hide the sobs and the laughter that she was conveying.

"But what are we going to do about Adogio?"

"wow. very left. much rude. wow"

"She is rude, Adogio. Thank you for noticing."

"woof."
