Chapter 1
The journey
Description by Zecora on the night of the incident that caused the big hole on the night of the full moon:
The everfree forest was quiet that night, the sky was clear and it was full moon,the animals were nowhere to be seen, they where hidden of an unknown presence, even the dangerous manticores didn't dare to confront the strange figure that was walking that night, the strange visitor who was causing fear in the depth of the forest was covered in a dark robe that perfectly merged with the darkness of the night and the only thing that make him visible was a strange green glow coming eyes, the silently figure kept walking for hours, he didn't stop to rest at any moment or even show any sign exhaustation and even the agressive roars of the wild fauna of the forest didn't made him step back.
After many more hours the presence arrived to a strange edification in the middle of the forest, it was partially destroyed and they were only ruins of the place but even in this shape the building was easily recognizable as a temple. The presence walked slowly to the ancient temple, as the presence advanced to the building the glow that came from his eyes illuminated the inside of the temple, the place was filled with strange figures of stone that resemble a strange bipedal form of life, the figures had features that were similar to chimpanzee, it had two legs and what seem like mutated legs in the upper torso, the head was round and had normal facial figures like eyes and nose but still very different, the torso was large and bulky and the butt was round but lacked a tail, but the strange forms of the figures didn't amused the presence, it only kept walking into what look like an altar that was illuminated by the light of the full moon, when the presence finally reached the altar it stopped, it stood there for a few moments and then it started to morph into a new form, the robe became darkness itself and looked like a ball of energy, the eyes expanded and came together to form a big circle of light, the presence now turned into what seem very similar to a constellation advanced to the center of the altar, when it reached the position, the presence started to glow more intensely,the glow was so intense that it illuminated all the temple and the area outside the temple, as the light show continued the earth started to shake very violently but it only occurred in the temple, the force of the internal earthquake started to destroy what was left of the temple, the pillars that sustained the roof fell first, then the roof itself until all the edification crumbled into pieces, the destruction of the temple left a big cloud of dust that dissipated after many minutes, when the dust finally cleared away and made the place visible again, the view of the place was shocking, the temple was gone,even the ruins had faded away and in there place was a hole of immense proportions and so the presence that was in the center of the disaster, the thing didn't suffer any damages of the destruction of the place but the glow that came of the center of his body had disappeared, the presence then started to become transparent until it finally became invisible, after that there weren't any more incident that night.
But what ever happen thar night it is still a mystery to me, I don't know what the strange presence was and I certainly don't want to find out, this what I know and the rest I ignore but I still hope that the information had some use to you.
When the princess finally finish to read all the report that Zecora had sent her away, she couldn't but to feel consternation, worry and even a little bit of fear, as the ruler of Equestria she had a wide knowledge of all the lifeforms of Equestria itself and outside of her kingdom, no creature was unknown to her and that was why this letter made her so worried, the mention of the new species was unknown to her, she knew that in this new discovery laid a potential threat, her thought were suddenly interrupt when she hear her name called by her sister Luna.
The moon princess entered to the study slowly, she looked tired and worried, she had also tried to find what had been happening in the everfree forest for the past weeks but with no succes at all.
My scouts haven't found any traces of the creature- said Luna with an accidental yawn.
-It seems that you had also past your limits my dearest sister- said Celestia with a sweet tone-remember that as much as important it is to find about what is happening outside our kingdom it is also important not to push yourself to your limits, you need to rest for now, I don't wish to see you in such troublesome situation.
The last words also were responded with a big yawn, that made the princess blush for her little accident.
-It seems that you had also haven't sleep a lot my dear sister- responded Luna with a big smile in her face.
-Yes sister, I haven't rest as I had need to do, this whole situation had kept me in insomnia for many hours but you must know that this my duty as ruler and also your big sister-responded Celestia with a calm voice.
-You know that you can't take all the big work for yourself and leave me with nothing to do, remember that with rule as sister and that means that we must take care of our kingdom and ourselves- exclaimed Luna.
Those words made Celestia smile, the company of her sister always made her happy and so Luna was happy to made her sister smile in such hard times.
But the moment of happiness was only momentarily as silence made himself present in the study, the lack of words made both princess remember all of theirs worries, such worries had begun when the first incident in the everfree occurred, it had started whem scouts of Celestia had spotted strange light from the forest itself, when then scouts tried to search the source of the light it suddenly disseaperead, these strange events started to occur more often,the fouth instance the socut finally could gasp a little view of a strange orb that supposdesdly caused the glow but when they tried to get close it suddenly exploded, this incident caused many injuries in the scouts, they had to be in the hospital for many days, when the doctors tried to see what had caused the injuries they were amazed that the injuries had been cause by unknown form of magic, but the incidents didn't stop there, the animals that lived in the forest started to act different, many manticores were encounters outside the forest, the dangerous animals seemed scare, also many birds started to migrate to others places, the dragon that lived in the caves of the forest also decided to fly away from theirs homes leaving their treasures behind, they were running from something. When the most brave scout decided to venture again in the forest they found why so many animals had decide to escape from the forest, the gruesome discovery was of death or to be more specific of many dead bodies, the mutilated bodies of manticores and theirs bones also, it seemed that they have been hunted and used as food for an unknown predator, but what was more shocking was the peturbing image of the disfigured dead body of the black dragon that was the leader of the dragons that reside in the everfree forest, when local doctors researched the bodies of the manticores they found that the same type of magic had caused all this but when they research what had cause the dragon death they were amazed that magic haven't cause that, it seemed that the fatal wounds were caused by physical means, all this events had caused fear in the hearts of all ponies in Equestria, no pony dare to adventure in the Everfree forest at night, this whole situation had the rulers of Equeatria occupied and worry, they didn't dare to tell their loyal servants that they didn't know what was happening, if ponies knew that even the powerfuls princess didn't knew what was causing all this missfortunes events they will go into a crisis.
For all this the rulers knew that they had to complete their duty, but such efforts had left the princesses tired and exhausted.
Finally after thinking what they must had to do, one of the sister decided to break the silence.
-Luna I think that for know it is important to rest and worry about this whole situation tomorrow- said Celestia- it is important to keep our energy so we can concentrate better on what to do and what must be done.
-You are right, we can't made the right decisions in this state-responded Luna
-We will continue tomorrow, goodnight Luna-said Celestia
-Goodnight to sister-responded Luna
Both sister returned to their chambers after saying goodbye to each other, when they reached their rooms they decided to cease their silence with the wisdom of the softness of their pillow, they slept into a deep rest that they needed so much.
The castle was in silence and in peace, a sensation of safeness surrounded the castle and Canterlot itself, but in a far place, in the dark woods, something appeared, a light that cut the dark itself, a green glow but only this time with a new form, the form of a gate, a portal that connected to different worlds and from the portal itself a thing came from it, a creature, the arrival of a human to Equestria.
