Applebloom smiled and snuggled closer to him. He was so warm, she was so cold. She felt his hoof gently brush against her face and stopped at her chin, he pulled her close and his soft lips touched hers. Applebloom felt giddy with pleasure, her heart flopped over.
“You’re so beautiful.” He murmured. Applebloom smiled again and sighed in pleasure.
“I love you.” They both said nothing. They both knew they felt the same about each other. Applebloom’s brow creased. “What time is it?” He rolled over to look at his clock.
“Eh, around two or something.” He answered.
“Oh shoot,” Applebloom jumped out of the bed. “Applejack is going to kill me!”
“Applebloom, wait.” He said grabbing her hoof. He pulled her back on to the bed. “I don’t want you to leave.”
“No, seriously. I don’t wanna get caught.” He looked offended by this.
“We’re not doing anything inappropriate!”
“But we are! I know we’re not having…that stuff and whatever, but snuggling in a bed and kissing? I’m not even allowed to have a boyfriend and if someone saw us,” She shuddered. “They might get the wrong idea.” He looked hurt, but softened.
“I’m sorry, it’s just every time we spend time together, I want to spend more and more.”
“Me too.” She sighed. “See ya tamorrow.” He smiled.
“See you tomorrow.” She gave him a peck on the cheek and hurried out the window. Once she was at Sweet Apple Acres she slowed down her pace. She picked up an apple and rubbed it all over herself. She had to hide the smell of him. She walked into the house.
“Applebloom!” Applejack came up to her with anger and worry laced in her face. Her face fell and a big smile grew across it. “Aww, you were trying ta do them chores! You’re a sweetie.”
“Yeah!” Applebloom said sarcastically, faking a smile and rolling her eyes. Applejack didn’t even notice.
“Now listen, Granny and Big Mac are at the produce competition and I wasn’t planning this, but I have to leave. I know ya hate being home alone, but I have to go to Canterlot with Twilight and the others. Seems Cadance and Shining have somethin’ important going on and they need ta tell us. I hope it ain’t dangerous. Anyways I’ve got to go.” She gave Applebloom a kiss on the forehead and ran out the door with a saddlebag. Yes! Applebloom thought. She heard a knock on the door. Who could that be? She smacked her forehead, of course, Sweetiebelle and Scootaloo were coming over. She opened the door.
“Hi, Applebloom!” They said happily.
“Oh, hi girls! No one’s home, Applejack had to leave.” She forced a smile.
“Oh yeah, we saw her but didn’t get a chance to ask her what she was doing ‘cause she was in such a rush.” Scootaloo said in her raspy voice.
Sweetiebelle gasped. “We should totally sleep over!” She squeaked.
“Oh, uh-.” Applebloom started.
“Totally!” Scootaloo agreed.
“I guess.” Again she forced a smile.
“Oh, oh, oh! Truth or Dare! We should play that.” Sweetiebelle suggested enthusiastically.
“I’ll start. Uh, Applebloom, truth or dare.” Scootaloo questioned. Applebloom was never a daring pony like Scootaloo.
“Truth.” She answered. Scootaloo tapped her chin, then her face lit up.
“Do you like anypony?” She said smiling.
Applebloom looked to the side, she had to tell the truth. She sighed. “Yes.” She said shortly.
“Really? Who?!” Scootaloo jumped up.
“That’s none of yer business and that’s two questions! My turn. Scootaloo, truth or dare.” Applebloom smiled evilly at the plan forming in her brain.
“Pfft! Dare.”
“I dare you to tell me who you like.”
“What!” She groaned. She brightened. “It’s a good thing I don’t like anypony. Sweetiebelle, truth or dare?” Sweetie smiled, happy it was her turn.
“Uh, truth.”
Scootaloo groaned again. “Boring. Okay, um…do you still like Button Mash?” Sweetiebelle frowned and nodded. “Aww, ButtonBelle.” She said mockingly.
“Shut up!” Sweetie screeched. “My turn. Scootaloo, truth or dare?” Scootaloo raised an eyebrow. “Okay, I dare you to…go outside, in the dark and find a worm, then come back and eat it.” She grinned, she loved crazy dares like this. She ran out-side and quickly came back with a worm. “Now eat it!” She quickly popped it in her mouth chewed and swallowed.
“Ugh! Gross, gross, gross!” They both fell over on the floor laughing. Applebloom wasn’t amused.
“I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m ready to hit the hay.” Applebloom said faking a yawn. They looked at her sorely.
“Party pooper.” Scootie mumbled. Sweetie was so tired she fell asleep right there. Scootaloo decided to sleep there too so she settled down and tried to go to sleep. Once Applebloom made sure their breaths were slower she quietly slipped out of the house. She galloped as fast as she could over to his house. She climbed through the window. He looked so peaceful, his aqua mane falling over his dark, charcoal face. His aqua eyes fluttered open.
“Applebloom?” He said squinting into the dark. The moonlight was shining through the window and she stepped into it. “I must be dreaming.” He said in awe as the night wind blew her mane.
“Oh, Nightfall, you’re not dreaming.”
“I can’t believe it, why are you here?” He asked.
“Because I wanna be with you.” She answered, smiling. He sat in his bed shocked. Applebloom’s smile faltered. “That’s what you want, right?” She said, worry creeping into her voice. He stood up. He walked over to her and grabbed her. He pulled her close and kissed her passionately, his lips pressed deep into hers and his arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders. She melted in the embrace, feeling her stomach flutter. They fell over onto the bed. Their legs entwined and they broke the kiss. Applebloom gasped, the pleasure was undeniable. She kissed him back harder, but not too hard, and grabbed his mane. Nightfall wrapped his hooves fully around her body and she ruffled his hair. He moved his lips down and kissed her neck. Applebloom couldn’t help but suppress another sigh, she was in heaven, she was in love, she wanted him so bad. He kissed her lips again. They sat there for a while, never wanting to let go, and they didn’t, because they fell asleep like that.
Apple Bloom’s eyes fluttered open, her hooves were entwined with Nightfall’s and their noses were touching. His bright eyes opened too.
“Uh oh, I’ve got to get to Sweet Apple Acres!” Apple Bloom got out of the bed.
“Applejack is going to kill you.” Nightfall chewed on his hooves.
“It’s not Applejack I’m worried about, she left for Canterlot yesterday.”
“Aren’t Big Mac and Granny at the produce comp.?”
“Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo came over last night and we had a sleepover.” Nightfall’s face changed.
“Oh don’t worry, they’re your friends, they’ll understand.” His words calmed Apple Bloom somewhat. “C’mon, we have to get to school quick.” Apple Bloom smiled.
“Race ya.”
“Oh it’s on.” They tumbled out of the window and ran as fast as they could, Nightfall’s house was closer to the school house than Apple Bloom’s was so it was much easier. Apple Bloom was surprised by his speed, she had been working on the farm all her life and he was just as fast as her! His wings started to flap as he tried to gain more speed.
“Hey, no wings!” He grinned at her and stopped flapping, by the time they got to the school house, Nightfall was tired so she won just by an inch. “Darn your fast!” Apple Bloom panted. He opened his mouth to say something but the bell rang. The two ponies ran inside and got to their seats.
“Alright, my little ponies, time to take roll.” Cherilee said as the ponies piled in. “Silver Spoon?” She raised her hand. “Diamond Tiara?” She raised her hand as well. The ponies kept raising their hands. “Peppermint Twist? Featherweight? Pipsqueak? Apple Bloom?” Apple Bloom raised hers. “Scootaloo? Sweetie Belle? Nightfall? Button Mash? Rumble? Snips? Snails? Dinky? Golden Rise? Blueberry Punch? Great you’re all here. Now before we start, I’d like to make a special announcement. Diamond Tiara begged me and now I can give my final answer; there’s going to be a Hearts and Hooves day dance!” Cherilee declared, the class cheered. “Now, naturally the boys will ask the girls and don’t feel left out if you don’t get asked.”
“You better, ‘cause there’s nine girls and seven boys!” Diamond Tiara joked to Silver Spoon. “I have a feeling some blank flanks will be dancing by themselves.” They laughed.
“Or it could be you two!” Scootaloo accused.
“Us?” She shared a look with Silver Spoon. “You must be brain dead.” Scootaloo started to rise out of her seat in anger.
“Scootaloo, no talking to other ponies in class.” Cherilee scolded. “As I was saying, the magic Celestia, Luna, A princess named Cadance and Twilight Sparkle is very powerful, they don’t just have wings and a horn. They have the strength of an earth pony, the agility of a Pegasus and the magic of a unicorn, but even more powerful than that. We were going have Princess Twilight explain things about being an Alicorn, but it’s seems she’s a bit busy.” The class groaned.
“Oh yeah, she’s at Canterlot with Cadance and Shining Armour. Applejack said they had somethin’ immortant to tell them.” The class turned and looked at Apple Bloom.
“How did you know about that?” Diamond Tiara asked snottily.
“Oh yeah, Rarity told me about that, she thinks they’re going to have a baby.” Sweetie Belle squeaked.
“Yeah right,” Silver Spoon huffed. “They’re probably just making that up.” The kids turned away and blew through their noses sharply.
“They weren’t lying!” Scootaloo yelled.
“Scootaloo, what did I say about talking in class?” Cherilee clicked her tongue. Scootaloo groaned. Class went by slowly, alicorns weren’t nearly as interesting as Apple Bloom thought. Once the bell rung, she slowly rose to her feet. She needed to pee, she walked over to the bathroom door but paused when she heard voices coming from inside.
“So, who do you want to ask you to the Hearts and Hooves day dance?” The voice of Silver Spoon said.
“Personally, I totally think Nightfall’s cute.” Diamond Tiara answered. Don’t even dare. Apple Bloom thought.
“Nightfall? I like Rumble.”
“Ooh, Rumble.” Diamond giggled. Apple Bloom needed to stop this. She took a breath and pushed open the door.
“I don’t think either will ask you.” Apple Bloom said nonchalantly and pushed open a stall door, before it could close, Diamond stopped it.
“What makes you think that?” Diamond asked nasally.
“One; Rumble and Nightfall don’t wanna dance with heartless jerks, two; Nightfall has eyes for somepony else, and three-.”
“Oh really? He only has eyes for me, and to prove that I’m going to ask him.” Apple Bloom raised an eyebrow and followed Diamond Tiara out of the bathroom. Diamond spotted him quickly on the playground and trotted over. “Nightfall, can I go to the Hearts and Hooves dance with you?” Nightfall broke into laughter, Diamond’s eyes widened. “What?”
“Oh that’s hilarious. Sorry, Apple Bloom and I are already going.” Apple Bloom blushed, he hadn’t even asked her.
“You!” she sputtered. “And puh-p APPLE BLOOM!?!”
“Yeah, of course.” He smiled and stood beside her. Apple Bloom felt a smile spread across her face.
“Come one, DT, let’s go ask Rumble…DT?” Silver Spoon said.
“How could you?” Diamond Tiara accused him. “I gave you everything!”
Nightfall cocked his head to the side in confusion. “What are you talking about, I don’t even know you.”
“Come on! DT!” Silver Spoon dragged Diamond away.
“What was that?” Nightfall turned to me.
Apple Bloom sniggered. “I have no idea.”
“Why did you leave last night?” Scootaloo jumped next to Apple Bloom.
“AHH!” Apple Bloom gave a shriek. “You scared me ta death right there.”
“Why. Did. You. Leave. Last. Night?”
“Because…” Apple Bloom trailed off. “I couldn’t sleep. I didn’t wanna disturb ya’ll so I left.” Scootaloo’s eyes narrowed.
“I don’t believe you.” She stated bluntly. “Tell me the truth.”
“That is the truth, I… I also went to another friend’s house.” Scootaloo’s eyes widened.
“Without us? You left us to be with another friend?” She said, hurt written all across her face. Apple Bloom felt guilt pour inside her.
“No! Well….” She glanced at Nightfall. “It wasn’t exactly a pony, it was…a bear.”
“A bear?” Scootaloo asked confused.
“Yeah, Fluttershy needed help ta calm him down.”
“A bear?” She asked again, raising her eyebrows with an ‘I don’t believe that’ face. “I can’t believe you would lie to me.” She said shaking her head. Water started to brim from her eyes. She dashed away.
“Scootaloo, wait!” The pony kept running. “I…I.” She said in shock. Scootaloo ran over to Sweetie Belle crying and Sweetie Belle gave Apple Bloom a glare like daggers. “Sweetie Belle.” Apple Bloom whispered. Rumble came and rubbed Scootaloo’s back, also giving Apple Bloom a glare. He hugged her. “I can’t believe it.” Apple Bloom said, tears of her own forming in her amber eyes. Nightfall put a hoof on her back.
“No!” She shoved it off. “You said they would understand!” Nightfall opened his mouth, but no words came out. “You’re the one who got me into this mess anyway.” Nightfall’s face hardened.
“I got you into this mess?” He yelled back. “You’re the one who came to my house last night!”
“You were completely fine with it then!” Apple Bloom screamed. He looked at her angry and ran away too.
“Fine!” He yelled behind his back.
“Fine!” She squeaked. She felt a tear drop onto her coat. She stood there alone, all her friends abandoned her. Why? She thought.
“Oh, looks like Nightfall didn’t want to go with the blank flank after all.” Diamond Tiara walked up to her.
“Go away, Diamond Tiara.” Apple Bloom said not looking up.
“Why? You humiliated me. Your nothing but a big bully.” Anger surged through Apple Bloom.
“I’m nothing but a big bully.” She yelled standing up, her eyes were red. “What about you!”
“You’re the one who constantly ignores me like I’m the most annoying pony ever! You talk about me behind my back!”
“You’re the one who constantly yells at me, I’m so horrible, so lame, such a blank flank. I never did anything to you!” Diamond Tiara’s eyes widened.
“It-it-i.” She stuttered. “It was just a joke.” She mumbled. “I was teasing you, I didn’t know it hurt your feelings, it was supposed to be tough love.”
“Are you joking?! Then why were you so mean about it.”
“At first it was a joke! But then, you kept ignoring me and not talking to me, You are the one who hurt my feelings.”
“Because you were so mean!” Diamond’s head hung low.
“I’m sorry.” She mumbled.
“I’m sorry too.” Apple Bloom said. Diamond Tiara brightened.
“Hey, let’s hang out. You look lonely, we could start fresh and be friends.” She suggested. Apple Bloom smiled.
“I’d like that.”
"I know! Then she was like, well maybe I don't hate Cherilee.” Diamond drawled her voice out in annoyance. Apple Bloom giggled.
"Seriously, why are you still friend with that gal? Oh wait, does this look good?" Apple Bloom said pulling an owl printed scarf of a random rack and wrapping it around her neck. Diamond Tiara laughed.
"No, it's hideous...Just kidding. Oh yeah, I don't even know why I'm still friends with her, maybe I was just trying to be nice. But c'mon, me, nice. Haha."
"Yer nice." Apple Bloom said frowning.
"Well, yeah. But sometimes I forget my manners and the wrong thing pops out. Come to think of it, the wrong thing pops out of Silver Spoon's mouth ALL THE TIME!" The two fillies laughed together.
"Thanks fer buying clothes for me, DT."
"No prob, they don't call my dad Filthy Rich for nothing." DT said.
"So...about Nightfall..." Applebloom started but trailed off.
"Oh. Well its just .... I saw him crying one day. He was all alone. His parents had just died, you know he lives with his brother and all now. But... I dunno, my parents had just split up, so we talked a little while and then we cried and held each other and it was the most real moment in my life. When I think about everything else in my life its so...fake and...superficial. I just became a little attached to that moment so I wanted to be with him all the time. So I could be real. Cause he made me feel real...what am I saying? This is silly, he's your boyfriend and I wouldn't expect you to understand anyway." DT realized she had over shared.
"No. No I do...im sorry but I have to go." Applebloom said. She needed to see Nightfall.
"Umm okay?" DT said a little surprised.
"I have to go." Applebloom repeated and dashed off.
