"Alright Dan, just sit perfectly still" the nurse said as she handed me a small black squeeze pump. "If you have an emergency just squeeze this. I'll be in the next room watching." She smiled and made sure I was resting correctly on the table before sliding it into the bright cave that was the MRI. I watched her walk into the next room and shut the door behind her. As soon as she hit a button there was a low buzzing noise that engulfed the room. A weak heat creep up my previously injured leg, forcing me to remember the incident.

TWO MONTHS AGO

"HIYAH! HIYAH!" I threw out a jab followed by a high punch, my gi was making popping noises as I threw my punches. I was training to get my red belt in my karate class. After this I would only have brown and black belts before I graduated. All I had to do was complete this form and I pass. "HIYAH!" Jumping in the air I pull my knee to my chest before spinning and swinging my foot around. The technique was nearly flawless. I grinned to myself, knowing this was the final move I had to do. Upon landing I realized I was leaning too far forward. I leaned back a little bit but it was too late, I landed on the ball of my foot and slipped. An unholy loud pop and crunch was heard before I hit the ground face first, screaming my lungs out. Glancing down at where the assaulting sensation was coming from I saw my right kneecap had become dislocated, way too far off to the left. As all four instructors carefully picked me up and carried me to a bench outside of the mat I noticed it had begun to swell. When they put me down I screamed out again before blacking out.

PRESENT

Slowly the noises grew louder and louder, I was now silently thanking the nurse for giving me earplugs. I tensed up as the heat in my leg began growing hotter as the noise got louder. I closed my eyes and focused on what the nurse had said, telling me it would get a little warm and not to worry. Taking slow, deep breaths I waited for it to cool down, but it only grew worse.

After what felt like half an hour my leg felt like it was on fire. Tears began to form in my eyes as I felt the fire spread throughout my entire leg. Squeezing the pump as hard as I could I prayed it would be over soon, but the machine never stopped buzzing, the heat never stopped, and the nurse never responded. I looked over at the window separating us and noticed that there was an odd absence of human life there. Suddenly the heat spread upwards, engulfing the entirety of the right side of my body with invisible flames. I screamed out in pain, my vision dimming and all thoughts dying. I barely registered the buzzing had finally stopped and I was able to hear banging on the door. It flew off it's hinges and doctors came rushing in and began pulling me out of the machine. I couldn't move, couldn't breathe, I could only sit there and watch as I was hooked up to a heart monitor and rolled down the halls on a bed with wheels. The whole time I was being rolled the fire continued to spread throughout the rest of my body.

The rest of my senses began to shutdown as well, I could no longer hear what anyone was saying and my whole body was going numb, except for that bloody heat. After an eternity we reached the operating room. My shirt was cut open and I could barely hear a faint, yet constant, beep noise of the heart monitor next to me. Within an instant everything shut off. I couldn't see, hear, or feel everything I was barely just a moment ago. In the next second I was watching the doctors preforming CPR on me. I had no clue what was going on. nor why I was watching myself die, but I knew that this was the end of the line. I bowed my head and closed my eyes, saying a silent prayer for my family before I felt myself being pulled into the ceiling.

Once I had passed through I noticed there was nothing for miles around. Everything was completely dark, I couldn't even see the ghost hand in front of my ghost face. For a few minutes I wondered what was going to happen to me, but that question wasn't left unanswered for long. Two doors appeared in front of me and opened to reveal different scenes. On the left was the operating room, time frozen with the doctors trying to save me. I looked through the door on my right and saw grassy fields greener than I had ever seen. Trees holding large red apples. And the sky was a pure blue, not a single bit of pollution. I glanced between the two doors and thought about it for a moment, pondering which choice to make. Hesitantly I stepped through the door. There was a bright flash of light, I could feel slicing at my skin but I was unable to scream. My lungs felt like they had been lit on fire, almost like I was breathing in smoldering ashes. When I tried to open my eyes but had to close them again, the light was blinding me to the point of a massive migraine. My finger twitched slightly and searing pain erupted through my entire body once again. It felt like my bones had been replaced with hot metal rods. Then there was nothing once again. I opened my eyes to take in my surroundings and immediately regretted my decision. I screamed out as loud as my lungs would allow, hoping someone would save me, or put me out of my misery. I clenched my eyes shut and braced for impact. Something hard hit me in the chest, making all the breath leave my lungs. I cringed as I coughed up a little blood and attempted to scream again, only managing a squeak.

I opened my eyes to take in my surroundings and immediately regretted my decision. I screamed out as loud as my lungs would allow, hoping someone would save me, or put me out of my misery. I clenched my eyes shut and braced for impact. Something hard hit me in the chest, making all the breath leave my lungs as electricity was shot through every inch of my body. I cringed as I coughed up a little blood and attempted to scream again, only managing a squeak. The doctor who had just used the defibrillator on me jumped back, surprised at the previously deceased child screaming in his face. Wiping the blood from my lips with a shaky hand I looked around the room filled with pale faced nurses and doctors. I was about to ask what was wrong when another series of coughing fits hit me, bringing up more blood with them. I fell back down onto the pillow, suddenly too weak to even sit up. Glancing down at my torso I saw a bulge in my right side. When I shivered from the cold air blowing on me I cried out in pain again, feeling like I had been stabbed in the side.

After ten minutes of the doctors explaining that a malfunction in the machine had caused my appendix to rupture and my kneecap to jar out of place again they asked me to lay back down and rest. I sighed and shifted, sending another shot of pain through my side. Why did this have to happen to me? I was so close to completing my form. My father would have finally been proud of me! Tears threatened to escape but I forced them down. I was going to at least take this like a man, I didn't want my dad to walk in on me crying, I would never hear the end of it. My eyes began to feel heavy and I wanted to resist, to stay up a bit longer in case my mom came in to see me, but I was just so tired. Just a quick nap, only a few minutes. I need to rest and keep my strength up so I can go back and earn my belt. I slowly closed my eyes and let the blissful wave of sleep overtake me. I felt all of my muscles relax and my breathing slow before the darkness washed over me.

Chapter 1b. Right Door

I screamed out as loud as my lungs would allow, hoping someone would save me, or put me out of my misery before I became a Dan-cake. When I stepped out of the door I realized the ground wasn't there for me to stand on. I spun in the air until I was spread-eagle style, watching as the ground got closer by the second and the clouds fly by my face. I clenched my eyes shut and braced for impact. Something hard hit me in the chest, making all the breath leave my lungs. I cringed as I coughed up a little blood and attempted to scream again, only managing a squeak. Opening my eyes I noticed I was almost on the ground but most of my momentum had been put towards throwing me forward. When I hit the ground I grunted loudly, sliding across the dirt until I hit a tree, almost blacking out. Shaking my head in attempt to clear my fuzzy vision I noticed the shape of a small blue horse trotting towards me quickly. I tried to pull my arms up to shield myself but I was only able to move my left one. Cringing, I waited for the oncoming pain of hooves against skin, but it never came. Instead I was lifted onto it's back and carried away as quick as it had approached me. I had to squeeze my legs tight around its barrel in order not to fall off.

Along the way my vision had cleared up enough for me to make out features of the horse, err...pony... The pony I was sitting upon was definitely cyan, at least her fur was. Her mane and tail was all of the colors of the rainbow. After a good minute I put the pieces together and realized I was sitting on Rainbow Dash's back. Assuming I had just gotten a concussion from hitting my head on the tree I just went along with the illusion and waited to see what was going to happen.

One excruciating trip later, Rainbow Dash began to run away from the edge of the forest and crossed over a bridge, now headed towards a small hut on the other side of the river. I shuddered, remembering what that forest held, and knowing that if she hadn't found me one of those creatures probably would have. Once we got to the hut she quickly knocked on the door, waiting for who I could only guess was Fluttershy to answer the door. I caught her taking nervous glances back at me and turning her head away when I looked back at her. When the door opened the bright yellow Pegasus that occupied the hut gasped and stared to the right of me. I followed her gaze and saw my right arm twisted at an awkward angle. My mouth dropped open wide, surprised I hadn't noticed the dislocated shoulder sooner. Fluttershy ushered Rainbow in and had her sit me on the couch in front of the window. After I had been set on the couch Fluttershy gently laid me down on my left side, resting my head on one of the most comfortable pillows ever. Her and Rainbow Dash left the room, I'm guessing to talk about the strange new creature who had showed up out of nowhere.

Once the two equines returned my adrenaline was running out, the pain from my dislocated shoulder setting in. When I looked up from the floor Fluttershy was holding a tongue depressor in front of my face, I knew what was going to happen next and I was dreading the moment. I opened my mouth as she slid the wooden pad into my mouth and between my teeth. I bit down hard and squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the pop and pain.

Pop...

I heard the pop and felt a twinge of pain shoot from my shoulder to my fingers but it wasn't very painful. I released the tension from my body and opened my eyes slowly. Taking the tongue depressor from my mouth I smiled at her. "Th-thank you so much." She smiled back at me and patted my head softly before draping a blanket over me. A wave of calmness washed over me, almost making me fall asleep instantly. I would have drifted off into slumber if not for the rainbow haired mare popping up in front of my face, scaring me half to death...again... "Gah!" I shouted, making her jump back a bit. "Dszg wl blf gsrmp rg rh Uofggvihsb?"

Chapter 1c. Rainbow Dash POV

View Online

I jumped half out of my fur as my cloud alarm clock went off, making a loud thunder noise and sending a weak lightning bolt my way, not strong enough to injure me but it was enough to make me squeal. After I had picked myself off the floor I punched the alarm clock from tartarus to make it stop booming. I thought it was a good idea when Twilight first suggested a spell to wake me up in the mornings in order to keep me from being late to work. On the very first morning I used it I began to hate her guts. It had scared me so bad that I almost had a heart attack, and instead of going in to work I had to check in at Nurse Redheart's tent.

Smacking my lips I slowly trotted into the kitchen to begin my daily routine. I ate a bowl of Bucky Farms and put the bowl and spoon in the dishwasher. I then went to the bathroom to do my business and take a quick shower, using my favorite shampoo Mane & Tail and my sponge attached to a back scratcher to reach the hard places. After that I brushed my teeth and hair before checking myself out in the mirror for about five minutes. I then got my uniform on, which consisted of a plain white vest and a plain white construction helmet (talk about boring, when Rarity first saw my uniform she had to pull out her fainting couch.) This whole routine usually takes about twenty-five minutes, with the exception of days I stare at the mirror a few extra minutes.

I stand on the edge of my cloud lawn, crouched down and spread my wings out, getting ready for takeoff. I did a countdown in my head, readying myself for the rush. Whoosh! I took off to the sky, leaving a rainbow trail behind me as I soared at breakneck speeds that only one other pony had managed to match. I preformed loops and barrel rolls, dodging clouds as I did so. I knew I would be getting to the Rainbow Factory in no time flat so I decided to slow down and sit on a cloud. I looked over at the horizon, looking at the sun beginning to rise and hearing the birds just beginning to wake up. I smiled, enjoying the peaceful aura that filled all of Equestria. Laying down I closed my eyes, heightening the rest of my senses by blocking out my sight. The cloud became softer, the birds songs became sweeter, the pre-rain smell because sharper. I sighed happily, enjoying this moment of relaxation before I stood back up and continued my flight towards the factory, only at a slower pace.

Once I had arrived I began to bark orders at the weather ponies, half of them working to make the clouds, the other half filling them with the right amount of rain and sending them off to the side for the other team to push them off. I walked over to the new pony, Silver Winds, who seemed to be struggling with the cloud making. "Hey Silver Winds, do ya need any help over here?" I asked on my way over to her side. She jumped a little from surprise, not expecting her boss to sneak up on her like that. Hesitantly she nodded and I reached into the bin, slowly making the cloud and walking her through it. "So you have to make sure you use the right amount of dust and water droplets. Just take the dust from the pouch and sprinkle it in like this" I showed her as I poured. "and then you mix in the water droplets. And there you go! A perfect cloud!" I pulled the fluffy cloud out of the metal bin, watching her smile as she pulled the one she made out as well. I smiled back at her and nodded, watching as a a tower of three small white clouds appeared on her flank with a dull flash of light, and I walked away to make sure everypony else was doing their duties correctly.

"Team A make sure you get those clouds over section A-15 of Ponyville before we activate them. And remember, this is going to be a light shower, not a heavy rain, so make sure not to put too much pressure in your kicks." I had begun instructing the ponies where to place all of the clouds, we had already gotten half way done and it was only half an hour until lunch time. I smiled at our progress today, this had to be a factory record. I paused at my thought. Wow...I'm beginning to sound like Spitfire... Shuttering at the thought I went back to instructing the other two weather teams where to put their clouds at before taking my own cloud over towards Sugar Cube Corner. When I had placed it in the last empty spot in the sky I touched the walky-talky on my shoulder and gave the signal to activate the clouds. As I bucked the cloud I had brought over it sent vibrations into the neighboring clouds, causing all of them to release their rain. At the same time the rest of the teams had done the same, every clouds letting the water go at once. I heard the cheers of all of my workers and decided to cheer with them. I shot my hooves up into the air and whooped and hollered. After a few minutes of celebratory yelling most of the ponies had headed back to the factory and I decided to follow suit.

Upon arrival most of the Pegasi had already clocked out and were chatting with one another. I walked over to a small machine on the wall (of course made of clouds) and shoved my paper into it, clocking out before setting it back into its slot on the wall. Hearing someone walk up behind me I turned around, only to see none other that Silver Winds. "Hey Rainbow Dash, I just wanted to thank you for what you did today, without your help I wouldn't have been able to finish my work or get my cutie mark." She grinned at the last part of that and I couldn't help but return the smile. "It was nothing, just what a good boss does. Great job today, by the way. I'm really proud at how quickly you're picking this up. Most ponies take about a month to get everything down but you've done it in a mere two weeks!" She blushed at my compliment and looked down, her shy nature coming back once again. "Thank you" she began "I've been through a lot of jobs but this is by far my favorite one, as you can see." She gestured towards her flank with a nod of her head. I nodded and we said our goodbyes, heading in opposite directions.

I stretched my back, making it pop a few times before I crouched down again, readying myself for takeoff. Right as I was about to flap my wings I saw a large wooden door appear in the sky above cloud level. I straightened out and focused on it, wondering if this was a new spell somepony was trying or if I was simply seeing things. I slowly flapped my wings, making my way up to it with caution. I stopped half way when the door suddenly opened and I saw something stepping out. I was about to yell for it to stop but I was too late, it had already begun to fall. I heard it scream and saw that whatever this was, it didn't have wings. I flew straight down, attempting to catch the strange creature that had appeared out of a door in the sky. I watched as it leveled out with its stomach facing downward. Putting on an extra burst of speed I flew under it just in time to catch it, but it had other plans. As soon as it made contact with my back I felt like I had been bucked in the spine by Applejack. I went flying out from under it and had just enough time to stop myself from hitting a tree. I sighed with relief, turning around to find whatever that thing was to check if it was hurt. Just as I had turned around it flew right past me and landed face-first in the dirt before sliding head-first into the tree I had narrowly avoided. I yelped and flew back several feet, hiding behind another tree and watching to see if it was going to get up. I saw it sit up and shake its head. I glanced down at the arm it was laying on and almost vomited. Swallowing my lunch I began to run towards the injured animal, knowing I had to take it to Fluttershy to be helped. As I approached it lifted the one good arm it had and help it in front of its face. Once I got up on it I guessed by its hair and build that this was a male. With a groan I used all of my strength to lift him onto my back, he was a lot heavier than it seemed. After he was upright on my back I began a quick run along the edge of the Everfree Forest. I felt him tighten his legs around my torso and I cringed as I did so. Whatever this creature was, he was undoubtedly strong. He shifted on my back a little as I neared the bridge to cross over the river. At about five feet from it I began to run away from the forest and towards the river. Crossing over was a little bit of a struggle, the strange creature almost falling off of me on the way over.

When I made it to the door I quickly knocked a hoof on Fluttershy's wooden door. I began to feel nervous with whatever this thing was on my back. Every few seconds I would take a quick glance back at him and turning away when he returned the glance. I don't know if I was more worried about him hurting me and my friends, or about that shoulder of his. When I glanced back this time I looked at his shoulder. It was pushed farther back and down than his other one, and the entire arm was twisted a little bit. When Fluttershy FINALLY opened her door she gasped and stared directly at the thing on my back, though I'm guessing she was looking at his arm. When I looked back once again I noticed he was staring at his shoulder with the same face Fluttershy was wearing. I was quickly ushered inside and I trotted over to Fluttershy's couch, carefully setting him down and stepping to the side as Fluttershy came over. She gently laid him down on the non-injured side and gestured for me to follow her to the next room. "Rainbow where did you find this poor creature? His shoulder is horribly dislocated and it looks like he might have a concussion." She was talking to me while looking through her medical bag for something. "I was about to head home when this wooden door opened up in the sky. And out of nowhere that thing popped out and started falling from the sky! I broke his fall mostly but he still hit the ground pretty hard and hit his head. Oh yeah, he fell next to the Everfree if that helps any." She nodded and took a tongue depressor out of her bag and began to trot back to her living room. As the creature looked up from the ground Fluttershy held the wooden pad out for him and he opened his mouth. I gasped silently, in his mouth was four VERY sharp teeth along with some other not so sharp teeth. I relaxed a bit when he bit down on the depressor instead of her neck. Fluttershy planted her hooves on his shoulder and I looked away, cringing as I heart the pop. When I turned back they were smiling at each other. He opened his mouth again, this time to speak.

"Gs-gszmp blf..." Fluttershy smiled at him and pulled out one of her largest blankest and draped it over him. His eyes began to droop and I crouched down, slowly creeping up in front of the creature. I saw him jump when I stood up, making a surprised sound as I did so. "What do you think it is Fluttershy?" A confused expression slowly crept on his face. I looked at my friend and she just shrugged.

Chapter 2a. Meeting New Friends

Sitting up I stare blankly at the two ponies in front of me, mostly at the rainbow maned mare that had spoken in some language I couldn't begin to understand in the slightest. "Wl blf gsrmp sv srg srh svzw?" She asked yellow pony. Fluttershy hummed thoughtfully before walking over to me and gently pulled my head down, and considering neither of them seemed like they were going to hurt me I didn't resist. She examined all over my head, I'm guessing to check for concussions. She turned back to Rainbow Dash and shook her head. "Ml, srh svzw rh urmv. Gsrh rh z mvd hkvxrvh hl sv xzm'g fmwvihgzmw Vjfvhgirzm. Ovg'h tl tvg Gdrortsg, hsv dlfow olev gl gib zmw gizmhozgv srn." Rainbow Dash nodded and muttered something else to Fluttershy. Said pony trotted over and smiled at me. "Be back. Stay couch." I just nodded and stared blankly at her, surprised the cute little pegasus was able to learn how to speak even that little bit of English in such a short amount of time, even if it was one of her special talents. I laid back down on the couch and closed my eyes. This has to be some kind of nightmare...When I wake up I'll be back in the hospital with my father scowling at me for not being stronger and my mother holding my hand...Please... I drifted off to sleep with a single tear trailing down my cheek.

Fluttershy POV

After I had asked the strange new critter to stay on my couch I headed outside to catch up with Rainbow Dash. When I made sure the door was shut I looked up to see her hovering in circles just a few feet overhead. "Rainbow are you ready?" I asked my friend in my quiet voice, just barely loud enough for her to hear. I flew up to her level and she nodded. "Yea I'm ready Fluttershy, but aren't you worried about him eating your animals? I saw the teeth on him and they looked just like a tiger's!" She threw her two front hooves up in the air in exaggeration at the last part of her statement as we began our journey towards the Ponyville Library. "Yes I'm sure, I could tell he was scared and confused but I'm sure if he was any danger to anypony that he would have attacked the instant he woke up." Rainbow huffed angrily, though I could tell she was scared and just trying to keep her tough-pony act up I said nothing. "Fine but I'll be keeping an eye on...whatever you want to call him in case he is dangerous. One wrong move and he's getting an eye full of hoof!" Rainbow made some practice punches in the air. I knew she could protect our friends if needed, she had proved that in several different occasions, but I wouldn't let that happen. Violence is never the answer... I thought to myself as Rainbow Dash and I landed in front of Twilight's house.

Rainbow knocked on the finely crafted wood door, rapping three times before backing up. A few crashing sounds and shouting sounded from behind the door and I cringed, fearing that the poor baby dragon known as Spike had gotten hurt. A moment later the door opened to reveal a tiny purple and green dragon. "Oh hey guys, you looking for Twilight?" I nodded and I couldn't help but smile at him, he was just soooo cuuuuute! "Yea, me and Flutters found some weird looking creature and was wondering if she could help us figure out what in the name of Equestria it is." Rainbow replied. Spike nodded and asked us to stay here. After a minute of waiting a lavender unicorn appeared with her saddle bags on her back. "Alright I'm ready, where is this creature you two found?" We began walking back to my cottage and Rainbow explained along the way how she came across something falling from the sky, how it crashed into a tree, and the part where she brought it back and that it didn't speak Equestrian.

"It doesn't speak Equestrian huh? Well I suppose that isn't too strange considering most animals from the Everfree don't. But for an animal to speak another language is very strange. I'll have to take some notes on its body language and speech patterns to see if I can decipher the language..." Twilight started mumbling on about something about research as we reached the hut. "Alright everyone he might be sleeping so we need to be very quiet as to not disturb him." I opened the door and Twilight stopped talking. My two friends slowly walked in behind me and Rainbow Dash shut the door after Twilight and I had entered. Peering around the corner I found that my suspicions had been correct, he was curled up in a fetal position napping and had pulled the blanket over his torso. I smiled, seeing how peaceful the critter looked while asleep. I waved for my friends to follow me into the living room.

As soon as Twilight saw the sleeping beast her mouth dropped open, her eyes became saucers, and she gasped. Rainbow silently chuckled at her reaction, trying her best not to laugh. She leaned forward and whispered into my ear, "Egg-head..." I giggled and turned to face the two. The unicorn was already scribbling notes as fast as her horn would allow and the pegasus had put on a serious face and took her post at watching the beast sleep. I walked over to Twilight to see what she was doing. "I'm just writing some basic notes on its appear-" I stopped her mid sentence. "He, this is a male." Twilight's face turned slightly pink and she nodded. "I'm taking some basic notes on his appearance. If you don't mind Fluttershy could you wake him up please? I think I might know what he is." I nodded and walked over to our guest and gently shook him. "Time to wake up sleepy head."

Dan POV

"Mrrrrrmmf..." I groaned, feeling someone trying to wake me up. Geez a guy dies and he can't get five minutes of sleep? I heard a soft voice trying to pull me from my slumber. It was so gentle yet so powerful, I just felt compelled to do whatever the voice commanded. With all the strength I could muster I pulled my heavy eyelids open and glared at the jerk who just woke me from my nap. In front of me was the two ponies I had already met but standing behind them scribbling away with a pencil in her magic grip was the lavender unicorn mare known as Twilight Sparkle. "Xlnv lm hovvkb svzw, Gdrortsg sviv dzmgh gl hvv ru hsv xzm urtfiv lfg dszg blf ziv." Fluttershy smiled as she helped me into a sitting position, speaking to me in the foreign language again. I hope I can figure out how to communicate with them soon, this is getting old. I glanced up from the yellow mare and jumped half out of my skin, Twilight had come across the room and was now studying me more closely. She hummed, obviously deep in thought, and tapped on my knee cap with a little rubber hammer she had pulled from the bags she had over her back. Immediately my leg kicked forward slightly. As soon as Twilight saw my leg kick she jumped back, only to blush as she realized she had hit my pateller reflex. Fluttershy smiled to her friend and said something inaudible in her ear and Twilight nodded before continuing her examination.

After what seemed like hours (though it was more like thirty minutes, it was still felt long though!) Twilight scribbled down her final note and stepped back, a sparkle in her eye and a smile that could have rivaled Pinkie Pie. "Zoirtsg gszg'h zoo gsv rmulinzgrlm R xzm tvg uli mld, gszmp blf Uofggvihsb. Mld R mvvw gl svzi srn gzop, nzbyv R xzm urtfiv lfg dsvg ozmtfztv rg rh." Fluttershy nodded in reply to Twilight before walking over to the couch and sitting next to me. Glancing down at her she pointed with her hoof from her throat to Twilight and made some dying fish lips moves. Assuming she wanted me to talk to Twilight I gave it a shot. "Hello, my name is Dan." I spoke slowly and clearly, letting her hear every syllable. Of course she began writing notes the instant the first word left my lips. Twilight tapped her pencil to her chin, the gears in her head spinning in overdrive. Well this is going to be a long day...

Twilight Sparkle POV

"Svool, nb mznv rh Wzm" The strange creature that basically looked like someone had shaved an ape and painted it the color of a peach began speaking slowly, emphasizing every syllable. As much as I hated being spoken to like this I feel like it's the only way we can learn his language. Quickly scribbling down what each letter sounded like I silently prayed that I was doing this correctly. After I finished writing down all of the words I tapped my chin. I have a theory of what language this could be, I remember a mare that came to the library a few weeks ago checked out a book with similar sounding words. I wonder... I began charging magical energy into my horn. I concentrated on the center of the library and with a flash of light and a swoosh of wind I found myself standing in that exact place. "Spike! Spike where's the book of ancient mythical beasts?" I yelled up to my room. There was a moment of silence before my number one assistant replied from upstairs. "Section D second shelf from the bottom!" He sounded groggy so I must have woken him from a nap, oops. "Thanks Spike!" I quickly trotted over to where he said it was and sure enough, the large, green cover book was right there. Quickly grabbing it with my magic I slid it into my saddlebags and prepared another teleport to Fluttershy's house. Le woooossh!

With a bright flash of light I appeared right where I had previously been standing. When I look up to see the creature I notice he's eating an apple and leaning casually against the arm of the chair. Even sitting down he was as tall as, if not taller than, most ponies. He waved at me, just watching with curiosity as I pulled out the book I had brought with me. Flipping to the middle of the book I found something that looked similar to him. They were called Humans, scientifically known as Homo Sapiens. Humans were a strong race that previously inhabited Equestria before the arrival of Discord when he supposedly wiped them all out of existence. Not much is known about them other than when provoked they can easily fight and win against several ponies. I shivered at the thought of the one sitting before me becoming outraged. I heard a crunch to my left and flinched, throwing my hoof its way and making contact with something soft yet hard at the same time. There was an audible Oof! and when I looked over I saw the Human crouched over holding his side. I heard him growl and my eyes widened. "Mother of Celestia what have I done..."

The Human stood up straight, his whole six feet looming over me and causing me to gulp. I took a step back and tried to apologize before I remembered he couldn't understand me. Grumbling he went and sat back down on the couch and pulled up what I thought was his first layer of skin. After I saw the same peach colored pigment under the green I realized that it was just his clothing. I mentally face-palmed for thinking otherwise. I slowly walked over and decided to risk sitting next to him on the couch. When I sat down I noticed that he sat in a strange position, just like the mare I got the book from. Speaking of said book I pulled it back out and turned back to the page I was on. At the bottom of the page was a key I hadn't realized was there. My eyes widened and I smiled, finally finding what I had been searching for. I was about to try speaking to him when I felt something on my head. Turning my eyes only to look at the Human I saw that his...hand I believe the book said with the diagram...was on my head. I stiffened, fearing for what was about to come, and closed my eyes shut. After a moment nothing happened so I opened one eye to look at him and he was smiling for some reason. It wasn't joyous or maniacal, instead this smile was a sad one. Before I could ask what was wrong though he silenced me once again. This time he began running the five digits at the end of his hand through my mane before returning it to the top and repeating all over again. My eyes drooped, I had never liked anypony messing with my mane, let alone petting me. But something about this was relaxing to me. I closed my eyes and laid my head on his lap, letting myself drift off to sleep.
