Rainbow seems like she's okay with never being able to fly again. But how does she really feel about it?

Rainbow laughed loudly, her wonderbolt teammates giggling along with her. Soarin nudged her side, she blushed in response, he smiled while looking into her gorgeous magenta eyes. "Okay! Okay! No PDA in the cloud suit!" Spitfire chuckled then winked at Rainbow and Soarin. "But Spits! We weren't even having any form of contact!" Soarin grinned widely at Spitfire. "Yeah, yeah, but we all know that you and Dash have a thing for each other!" She chuckled as Rainbow made a 'blech' face. "ME?! Me and THIS pie loving, cloud sorting, sloppy flying maniac?" She hugged Soarin, "he's perfect!" She giggled as Soarin blushed. "I'll be right back, gonna go catch up at the desert table before it's all gone!" Soarin trotted away, turning his head to wink at Dash. "Me too", Dash smiled, "I wanna see Luna's display of stars tonight, I hear that they're extra bright in the summer." She walked to the door leading to the balcony of the impressive white, poofy cloud building. Dash closed the door behind her and set her hooves upon the cloud terrace and sighed happily. 'This is so amazing! she thought silently, 'I can't believe I'm actually here! Inside Spitfire's private cloud suit! I-I'm a WONDERBOLT now...' After Twilight became a princess, the wonderbolts showed up in Ponyville looking for Rainbow, wanting her to be apart of the team after no one was able to show up better results than her at the academy. Which of course she didn't object to, now she's partying with them after tours and shows...it was a good life for a pegasus...not only was she Spitfire's bestfriend, she also ended up snuggling up to Soarin after a tour in Las Pegas. They hit it off ever since, she adored him...and he adored her. They worked out really good in partner performances. "Hey Dashie..." Soarin appeared, wrapping a foreleg around his marefriend's warm body. "Hi bubby, done filling up on whipped cream and apple pie?" He patted his full tummy in response. "Like Luna's moon tonight? It's beautiful..." He rubbed his muzzle against her cheek, "Just like you..." He finished off the sentence with a kiss. The lip lock took place for about a minute and a half or so before Soarin spoke softly, "I love you...Dashie." Rainbow blushed brightly, trying to respond to her lover. "I-I love you too, Soarin." She managed a stutter, he chuckled in response. "C'mon babe, lets go rest up before the show tomorrow, you preformin' a boom tomorrow?" "Yeah, I hope I can stretch my wings properly before showtime though, I hate it when they get sore..." Rainbow and Soarin trotted to their room, the cyan and baby blue wings bumping against each other.
The cuddling pegasus couple woke up to Spitfire knocking on the door. "Wake up! Dash! Soar! Movin' out to show in less than an hour! Hurry up!" Rainbow burst out of bed, quickly zooming into the shower and starting the water, still yawning. Soarin opened the closet and pulled out his yellow and blue Wonderbolt's jumpsuit and dressed and got all gussied up for the show, Dash burst out of the shower with a few bubbles on her tail, she then managed to slide into a suit. The two of them rushed out the door practically on top of each other from falling, Spitfire and Fleetfoot hovered in front of them, trying not to die laughing. "Gosh! We love it when you guy's are in a hurry! You always end up toppling in front of each other and it's hilarious!" Fleetfoot managed between giggles. "Y-yeah! It's funniest when you guys are rushed after staying up late and playi-" "Alright! Alright! We know!" Soarin cut off Spitfire before she could finish the dirty sentence, him and Dash picked themselves up off the floor and raised their hooves up to their foreheads in salute, Fleetfoot did the same next to them. "Showtime in 30! We're gonna go out there and give the audience the best damn show they've ever seen right?!" Spitfire instantly went into her drill sergeant mode. "Yes Ma'm!" The three other Wonderbolt's answered at the same time. "Dash! You make sure that rainboom is the best damn one you'll ever make! You got it?!" Spitfire screamed. "YES MA'M! WILL DO MA'M!" Rainbow Dash yelled back. "Soarin! How's that new trick coming along?!" Spitfire's voice softened a bit. "It's perfected and ready for show Ma'm!" Soarin said in response. "Wha? A new trick? How come I don't know about it?" Rainbow Dash questioned, slightly confused. "It's a trick dedicated to you Dashie, our inspiration from you went into it." Soarin winked, comforting his marefriend. "ALRIGHT! SHOWTIME IN 10! EVERYPONY GET OUT THERE AND READY UP! WE'LL MAKE THIS SHOW GREAT OR DIE TRYIN'!" Spitfire ordered. The team blasted out into the open sky stadium, warming up their bodies with practice laps. Fans poured into the stadium sitting in their seats with popcorn and drinks. Small fillies went down to the bottom row, waving up at Dash, Soarin and FleetFoot. Spitfire blew her whistle, making the team come down to the ground and get into their show positions. "FLY!" Spitfire commanded. The team zoomed off, Dash in the middle as Soarin and Fleetfoot flew to terrifying heights by her sides. "READY FLEET?! READY SOAR?!" Rainbow screamed, trying to make her voice louder than the wind blowing in their ears. The two other's nodded in response. "GO!" They tucked in their wings and began free fall, face toward the ground. Soarin and Fleetfoot began separating from Dash's sides, moving farther and farther away as they plummeted closer and closer to the land.Dash put her forelegs to her sides and felt her lungs burn, her head pound, her muscles feel like they were all about to be torn. Her eyes flashed and filled with tears as she broke the sound barrier and the circular rainbow blast exploded from her streamlined body. At the final second before hitting the ground, she snapped her wings out and pulled back up into the rainbow filled sky. Rainbow looked up to see Fleetfoot and Soarin still high up above, hovering a few thousand feet in the air, they nodded to each other and dove down, wings plastered to their sides. They whipped their bodies around and flew away from each other, still at top speed, as soon as they were about a hundred yards apart, they snapped their bodies around once again. They free fell diagonally to each other, just as they passed one another, their wings shot out, making a giant cloud of thunder and lightning, loud booms filled the energy rich atmosphere and a spark of lightning formed Dash's cutie mark as she looked up with sparkling eyes. Soarin bursted through the sparks and they shattered into shards of radiant rainbow glass, before the shards hit the ground they evaporated into the air. The crowd screamed and cheered as Soarin and Fleetfoot landed next to Rainbow's side. "Y-you planned this for me?" Dash looked at them with happy, teary eyes. "Anything for my lovely Dashie...we love you being a part of our team..." Soarin said softly, kissing Dash's cheek. Spitfire trotted over to them. "Well done team. Well done. You guys truly are and will always be the best Wonderbolt material in Equestria. And you Dash...Always stay in the team, it won't be the same without you." Spitfire finished the sweet sentence by saluting Rainbow Dash and then saying, "Thank you. Best flyer." She hugged Dash as a familiar body stood in the stands, sneering at the team as her light turquoise coat became hot with hatred and her golden eyes stayed affixed on the pony with the brilliant rainbow mane.
The team started trotting back to the locker rooms as the hate filled pony watched them walk away until they were out of sight. "You'll get what's coming to you, Dash...you took my spotlight from my dream...now I'm going to take the light from your soul..." She mumbled under her breath as she flew out of the stadium.
*later that night*
"So...can you do the job or not?" Lightning Dust said through gritted teeth. "You pay a fine price for one measly little pony...why do you wish her death?..." The hooded figure leaned forward, red eyes glowing. "She took my place!...MY LIFE! MY FUTURE!" Lightning Dust slammed her hoof down onto the table, screaming. "I WANT HER DEAD! Oh and I don't want it to be quick oh no...not quick..." She laughed insanely. "I want her to suffer...make her feel her blood run across her body...MAKE HER SCREAM IN AGONY!" Lightning Dust punched a hole into the wall and threw numerous bottles of alcohol across the room. The hooded pony rolled his eyes in response to her behavior. "You're like a child. Throwing fits will do nothing." He spat in disgust. "EXCUSE ME?!" Lighting Dust flew up to his face, the shadows hiding his glowing eyes. "I COULD KILL YOU!" She pulled a knife out of the wood of the table pressing the blade against his neck, her breath hot. He pushed her hoof down, quickly bending it around, "AGHH!" Lightning dust yelped in pain, pulling away from him, sneering. He took the blade in his own hoof. "Oh please, you can't harm me. My magic is far too advanced for you to even make me wince." He chuckled darkly, then ran the knife across his foreleg, slicing his skin cleanly as black blood dripped from the incision before stopping as the cut healed in a matter of seconds. "M-magic? You're a unicorn?...I didn't know..." Lightning Dust managed to get her tongue to cooperate and form words. She rubbed her hoof, feeling it swell. "That's what I want everypony to think. Keeping my true self contained and hidden is key to success." He pulled his hood down, only enough to show his glowing, blue aura emitting from his horn. "I shall find this 'Rainbow Dash' you speak of. I never. Ever. Fail what task I am given." He pulled his hood back up, then standing from table, he looked at Lightning Dust, eyes glowing from the inside of his hood. "I will end the element of Loyalty's life, darkly and slowly. I never fail." A burst of magic and light engulfed his body as he teleported to an unknown place, leaving the words 'never fail' echoing through Lightning Dust's ears. She stood up and left the place, smiling with the feeling of success flooding her veins and nerves.
