Placing her daughter into the capable arms of the nurse, “make sure she gets loved. We can’t have another one dieing.” The nurse nodded and flew off with her changeling’s life in hoofs. Falling back into her chair, she petted her closest child, “do you think she will make it?”

Trying to remember the latest child who had survived for more than a week, he came upon his answer, “I don’t think so.” Jumping onto his queens lap, he settled down and gave her some of his expertise advice. “I think we need to see the condition the changeling’s are keeping their newborns. I really miss some of them.”

Shocked at not having come up with the idea sooner, she forced Chas off her lap, and hugged him, “your right!” Placing him onto her back, she stormed out for the nursing center. ‘It’s been a while since I’ve been their. I hope they still have my room.’

Gripping onto Chrysalis’s side, they stormed past a half fit nation, every one sad and uncaring of their queens activities. “The city sure is colorful. Now we have some new ponies!” Pointing a hoof at the friendly pink earth pony, who had come to feed the nation. Waving his hoof at her, he got a welcoming hello. “We need more changelings like her.”

Preoccupied, she didn’t get to see the ponies he spoke of, “you’ll have to show me later. We have to get somewhere.” Pressing on, and avoiding the occasional changeling in her path, she witnessed the poor souls of her fallen nation. ‘Once I get done with this, I’ll come back and help you all.’

“What you thinking of, mom?” Still holding onto her, his body bounced around rampantly, “can you tell me?”

Looking back and smiling at her one, and only living son, she thought of a way to answer without running his views on their nation, and on its people. “Well, I was just hoping that the nurses are taking care of the babies.” Preparing to stop at the local nursing home, she let out a sigh of relief, “we’re here.”

Knowing the time, he rolled off her, and landed flat on his back, laughing. “someday, I will manage to land.” Chrysalis laughed with him, before resetting him on the ground. “When can i use magic like you?”

She laughed. The thought of a hornless changeling performing magic would be a site, “when you’re old enough to learn.” Entering the double doors with her sidekick in running the nation, they were greeted by the black nurses in white aprons. “Hello. We came to check-up on the newborns you are raising.”

“Oh,” a look of nervousness was displayed on her face. “We have some in the back, but they aren't doing so well.” Holding open the door with her hole filled hoof directing them inside, “right this way.”

Following her into the back, the walls and floor had been covered in a layer of dirt. Everyone, but the nurse, was disturbed at the filth and disturbing color of the white walls. “Chrysalis, is this the nursing home?” Looking at his hoof, and its layer of dust, he shook it, but the dust remained. “I don’t like this place.”

Stopping at a window, the nurse raised a hoof, and showed them the care center. “Here is where we raise the changelings.” Inside the musty glass was a partially clean room with changelings scattered along the floor in dirty blankets.

Covering Chas’s eyes with her mane, she continued looking in the room. At the center of the room, a newly born changeling was crying, and screaming. “Why is no one caring for them?” Pressing her snout against the window, her daughter noticed her, and tried to find a way to get to her. “Open this door.” She stared at the nurse with fire filled eyes, getting a rushed response and a key to the room.

“Whats going on? I can’t see anything.” Managing to escape her mane, he snuck a peek in the room. “What’s going on in their?”

Shoving her son aside, and out of the viewing window’s glass with magic, she unlocked the door. From beyond the door, an unholy scent of feces, urine and rotting flesh entered the hallway. Pressing onward into the room, stepping over children's corpses, lifeless and maggot ridden. ‘I”m sorry. I should have never let you all go.’ Tears rolled down her eyes as she witnessed the insides of a child spread across the floor by ants, and worms. Only 5 feet in, only her body length, and she already felt like a prisoner of a war zone long forgotten.

In the back of the room, her newly born child continued to wine. Throwing a small premature fit in her blanket, she tried to break free. pleading for her not to get bitten or sick from the ill washed floor, Chrysalis began rushing. Trying to both save her child, and making sure not to get any kind of disease on her way. “I’ll get some sanitizing wipes. Be careful,” with her assuring voice and the sound of hooves clopping on dirt and tile, a film of relief fell over the changeling queen.

“Just wait a little longer. Mama's coming,” not sure whether she was trying to comfort her child whom didn’t know of her words meaning, or trying to comfort herself, lying about managing to save her beloved child. With only a matter of hoof steps away, the queen lifted her beloved child off the floor, and placed her on the ruffled green of her back, hoping she wouldn't fall off too soon, or at all for that matter.

Turning back to her exit, she saw a set of new faces. Some she had taken their herself, and some the nurses had accommodated to. Stepping over the lifeless bodies once again, the ants and worms scurried to their newly found meal. shaking the small canabal bugs off her hooves, she ran for the door, forgetting all morals on how to treat a deceased pony. Underneath her hooves, bugs and her forgotten children spread as if butter. Magots tried their best to devour her hooves, but the queen was to fast, and desperate for fresh air to allow them a taste.

Emerging from the door, she checked for her little baby on her back, and slammed the door. Making sure to lock it, and break the key to the hole of rotting flesh and hellish scent. Before she knew it, the nurse had returned and began cleaning the queens holes of their gore and bugs, she had collected, only to be slapped away. “What's wrong, Ms. Crysalis?”

She snached the disinfecting wipes away from the nurse and proceeded to clean her surviving daughter of her grim covered blanket, and washing her with the wipes. “My people come first.” Lifting the small child up, and into her mane, she had began to leave, “this clinic is closed down. You’ll have to go elsewhere.”

Accepting the lack of no job, she had one last offer to the queen of her nation, “if you're going to take the baby away, at least use this,” raising a hoof up to Chrysalis, she revealed a small carrying bag, ment for the neck, or around the waist. “And your friend went outside. He didn’t seem right.” Walking to the back, and leaving the holder with Chrysalis, she began to tell the other nurses.

Slipping her daughter into the sleeves, and placing it around her neck, she left. “Um, Chas? Where are you?” Sitting before the door was her son, “lets go, we need to fix this nation.”

Happy to hear the news of change for the changelings, he got up and climbed onto his mothers back. “Lets fix this nation!” Morphing into a familiar pink pony he hugged his mother, and they were off.

“Hello everyone,” she announced to the crowd of changelings below. “today we are going to change this unsightly cave we call a nation, into a perfect utopia!” Every changeling and pony cheered happily, after 1 year of living in a cave, who wouldn’t be happy? “My son and my representative will request the allowance of our kind in Equestria. We shall make everyone here, full of love and acceptance in their nation. Till then, we must clean up our dwelling as well.” Smiling happily as she watched her only hope leave for the royal palace, she finished her speech, “till that day comes, we shall be proud of ourselves, and stand as one!”

Talked up and happy, every changeling rejoiced in a series of hugs, and praises, glad to have some friendly love in their lives. everyone was smiling happily, and began cleaning up the streets immediately. everyone, even the visitors, began cleaning the floors, and windows, “Fluttershy would be proud,” with her job done, Twilight took flight and left for home. Hoping to catch up with the son on Chrysalis and her Blue eyed representative.

Holding her newly born princess over her, she smiled at the adorable eyes of the child, “so, all you really need is love.” Bringing her child down onto her and smothering er in a array of happyness. She smiled.

“Mother.” turning her head at the familiar voice, her son had with him Twilight Sparkle. “Ms. sparkle would like to speak with you. Also the cleaning of the city is almost one forth complete.” Hugging his fallen mother on the floor, he left to attend to the cities cleaning.

“congrats Ms. Chrysalis. You have an heir!” Smiling at the adorable filly, she laughed when it smiled back. “By my decree, i will allow the changelings, and their loving queen, to live freely in Equestria!”

Overjoyed by the news, and excited to have a proper home for her beloved children, she hugged her filly, “thank you, Twilight, but i’m going to stay here.” Kissing her small filly, and looking at the unhatched eggs, she gave her unneeded excuse, “my children need me, and i need them.”

“I will have your son tell them of the news. If that’d be okay with you.” Getting a nod of approval, she dropped a ticket for access to the palace, “stop by soon.”

“We have gotten permission to go to Equestria! Please leave if you’d like.” A swarm of changelings took off, heading out the cave entrance and off into Equestria’s fertile land. Turning back and hugging Twilight, he said his final words of thanks before heading back to his mother, “thank you. You are sweeter than Cake.” Before anyone could notice, she had gone and back in her nation, waiting for the people to arrive, and Chas remained with his mother, where his heart was needed most.
