Journal entries from the members of Starlight, a new band in Equestria.
The following are journal entries and blog posts from Amber, Jewel, and Gem of Starlight, a new band just starting off in Equestria. They chronicle the band's rise to fame as well as their love life, their fights, and backstage, behind-the-scenes extras. Please note that they have been taken and used with permission by the band members of Starlight and have not been stolen.
Let's start off by introducing the band members...
Amber Gender: Female Species: Unicorn Colors: Red (skin) - Black + Blue (mane and tail) - Green (eyes)
Info: Amber is the lead singer of the group. She is kind and generous and loves to sing. When she was just a little foal, her parents got her a toy microphone. She would go into the bathroom, get in front of the mirror, and pretend she was singing onstage. Now, years later, her dream has finally come true. Though she could not have done it without her two best friends, Jewel and Gem. They met back in kindergarten and all had the same dream. Amber thought up the idea, when they were a little older, about starting a band called Starlight. The others agreed and it began.

Gem Gender: Female Species: Unicorn Colors: Green (skin) - Blue (mane and tail) - Yellow (eyes)
Info: Gem is the lead guitarist of the group. She is also Jewel's sister. When she was a kid, she had asked her parents for a toy drum set. Instead, her sister got the drums and she was given a toy guitar. She liked the way the guitar looked better than drums so she rolled with it. It wasn't long after when she finally got a beginner's guitar and practiced simple songs. She entered the talent show in kindergarten and won first place. She had some crazy guitar skills when she became a little older. She immediately agreed when her friend, Amber, said that she wanted to put a band together.

Jewel Gender: Female Species: Unicorn Colors: Light Blue (skin) - Light Purple (mane and tail) - Yellow (eyes)
Info: Jewel plays lead drums and is the sister of Gem. Her parents got her a toy drum set, which is what her sister wanted. But her sister got a guitar which she grew fond of. Anyways, Jewel had a great time whacking the daylights out of her drums. When she became older, she took lessons and learned the basics and the extremes pretty fast. She may have learned how to play an instrument later than Amber and Gem but that doesn't make her any less of a skilled band member.
How To Read The Character's Lines: Jewel is a tad bit shy and can be soft at times. Closest Match: Fluttershy (But not as shy)
Now that you know the characters, we can begin our little adventure...
NOTE: Each band member had their own journal in which they wrote in. One member did not know what the other one wrote until now. Relax... they laugh about it now.
Amber
Today was great. I got a job delivering paper to earn money for the band. I have my eye on this building where we can set up base and practice our music. The others are also helping out with this, too. This is the first step in our plan. Can't really do anything without a place to practice, right?
Gem
I got myself a job working at a bakery. I was told my cooking skills are above average so I thought "what the heck?", ya know. It's a good job with good pay. I just really hope we can earn enough money from our jobs. Amber said that she found the perfect place for us. It just may take a little time. But I can't wait! I need to rock! I need to rock hard! I'm not even gonna write my second journal entry until we buy this place. That's how serious I am.
Jewel
Let's see... What to write about about... ... ... Oh, yeah... I got this job working at a clothing store. The owner is really nice. Well, I guess she'd be considered my boss, now. I was a little nervous at first. I don't really like to socialize with a whole bunch pf ponies, but Gem said that if I was gonna be in a band, I needed to overcome my fears of crowds. I can honestly say that this job is helping with that. I only hope I'll be ready when the time comes.
We may get our place sooner than I thought. I just got a raise. I guess the paper delivery ponies love those who are quick and efficient. I'm gonna go tell the others right now.
I just told them. Gem seemed really happy. Guess she can't wait. Jewel seemed a little nervous when I told her. Hope she's okay. I don't want her getting scared and leaving the group. She's great at the drums. Best drummer I've ever seen. Plus she's one of my best friends. It's perfect! It would ruin us if any of the members left. I'm good at singing. Gem's fantastic at the electric guitar. And Jewel's amazing on the drums. I'll make this work. Whatever it takes.
Jewel
Today was terrible. I got fired from my job. [Handwriting too messy to interpret. This suggests she may have been crying] I can't seem to write right now. I probably should just...
So, Amber just told me some good news. Apparently she got a raise at her job. I can't tell her now. I was just able to dry my eyes before she entered my room. I hope she wasn't suspicious. I'd hate to have to ruin this for her. And for my sister. I'll just go to bed. I'll work this out tomorrow.
So, apparently Jewel was fired from her job. No worries. I helped her get a job with me as a paper delivery pony. She's really good at it. Not sure why she hid it from her sister and me for so long. If I knew she was in trouble, I would have helped her right away. I guess she thought that I'd be angry with her or something. Ridiculous. If one of my friends are n trouble, I help. They take priority over anything. And if we're gonna be in a band, we need to learn to trust each other in any situation. Whether it's bad or really bad, your friends need to know that you'll be there for them. That's just the kind of pony I am.
Jewel
Amber is the best friend a pony could ask for. She helped me get a job with her delivering papers. I was afraid she might scold me but she didn't. She was very cool about it. I have to say, I was expecting something else. Amber is truly one of those that you couldn't see doing a bad thing. She was just too good a pony for things like that. I'm proud to know her and to have her as a friend. With her help, we should make enough money in no time. Gem hasn't written anything in her journal to my knowledge. Guess she's waiting for something. She's weird like that. When she sets her mind on something, she does her best to get it done. [Drawing of a winking smiley face]
Today was a normal day. Nothing too special happened. Jewel's really getting the hang of delivering papers. I see a raise in her future. Gem's doing well from what I hear. She's still not planning on writing an entry until we've accomplished our goal. I may actually do that, too. Next entry will be after we've got enough money and got our place. Another thing to note, I'll probably be breaking away from our normal journal entry schedule. We usually write just before bed time, around 9:00. After we get our place, I'll probably end up writing more often.

I'm really getting the hang of the whole paper delivery thing. I may not be able to work on my fear of crowds but I'll be able to make money for the band. That's what matters at this point. I think my sister still hasn't wrote anything in her journal. I guess she really isn't going to until we get our place.
I guess Amber is now holding of on journal entries, too. Guess she's following my sister's idea. Oh, well. I should probably do the same. Don't wanna be the only one writing. Ciao.
WE DID IT! We got our place. We start practicing tomorrow. I'm so happy. After all these weeks and years of dreaming we're finally on our way. This is probably the single greatest moment in my life so far. Those foals back in Kindergarten were wrong. They thought we weren't gonna make it. Guess we showed them. We showed them all.

I'M BACK! We got our place and our journey is about to begin. This is gonna be so cool. On my time off from writing, I've been practicing my guitar. I can honestly say I've gotten better at it. Can't wait for tomorrow when we start practicing. Show the girls what I've been doing in my spare time. We're gonna shine and we're gonna shine big.

We made it. I'm so happy. Our goal has been met and now we can start playing. This is by far the most exciting moment in my life. I was a little worried at the start that we weren't gonna make it anytime soon. But we did. It makes me feel like a real part of the group. I vow to do my best to help the girls and I become stars.
So, today we practiced in our hangout. We're currently working on a song to play at the mall. The owner said that there was an opening next week and we need to be ready. On a side note, Gem started up a blogging site on the internet last night in celebration of our success. I wonder how many ponies will visit it. I actually posted an intro on it myself. Ya know... Just to get things started.

So we finally were able to practice today. It was great! We're really getting good. Amber got us a gig at a mall nearby next week. I'm sure we'll be ready and that we're gonna bring the house down! Figuratively speaking, of course. I also started up a blog the other night in case we get any fans who want to chat with us. Amber already posted something on it.

I finally got to play my drums. The girls loved it. I'm sure I'll be ready for our gig at this mall next week.
