Midnight and the girls have to stand against some crazy villains and maybe a little romance. Will I stop sucking at descriptions? What destiny reserves for Midnight and his new friends? The sun was emitting its warm light over the peaceful town of Ponyville, a good day for a walk on the park or going out with friends. The city buzzed with activity, from ponies working to chatting. An orange mare with a stetson covering part of her blonde mane was going to the stall searching for ingredients to make the Apple's specialty, apple pie.
Unnoticed by almost everypony in the town, a blue speck far away was on the market's direction. A dark blue coated unicorn stallion with a mix of light and dark blue mane, dark on the borders and light blue on the rest. He had 2 saddlebags mounted on either of his sides. It was on this moment that he started attracting attention.
This occurence was getting normal for the small populace of the town. A lot of ponies were visiting the town with the intention of finding and talking to the six ponies that saved them all from night time eternal, The Elements of Harmony.
The orange earth pony noticed him walking on her direction and greeted him.
I'll try to make a good AJ, but I don't know how to do the accent very well, so, tell me in the comment section if there is anything that bothers you.
"Howdy there?" the orange mare asked.
"Oh, hello..." the surprised blue pony said.
"Ah can see that y'all is a new comer around here, welcome ta Ponyville, but, can Ah ask yer name?"
"You already did, but, it's Midnight, Midnight Spark, at your service." The blue pony said.
"Oh, a gentlecolt! Mine's Applejack," She listed the things that would be her chores for the rest of the day and wondered about her free time. Her friends didn't make any plans today, so, she was free for the rest of the afternoon after she finished shopping. "Ah can give y'all a tour in the town, wanna go?"
"A good offer, but, I have to decline, for now, I just want to find my new house around the town, I already told the mayor this, so, I have to find the mayor office to talk about it, I would really appreciate if you could show me her office."
"Sure as sugar that I can, but, if y'all don't mind me askin', what brings y'all ta live here?" She said with a raised eyebrow.
"I was looking for a quiet and welcoming place, some ponies have told me of this place and its vivacious residents, so, i thought this place was perfect to start my training and ask for advice."
"Let's get goin', but, trainin' for what and what kind of advice?"
"Aren't you a curious pony?" Applejack raised her hoof and opened her mouth to argue, but before she could muster a word he continued. "I like curious ponies, it's curiosity that makes us discover new things and try to understand others." He explained with a hoof raised. "I was just joking!" He said with an awkward smile on his face. "My special talent is elemental magic, I was seeking training and advice for what to do about it, I researched a little and found out that Miss Twilight Sparkle is here, is that truth?" He said eagerly.
"Elemental magic, sure it's a rare thing, but, yer talkin' 'bout Twih?" Sure she is a famous pony, but Ah didn't think somepony would have such interest on her. And trainin'?
"Is she your friend?" Curiosity getting the better of him.
"Yep, Ah would like ta introduce y'all ta my friends, but, for now, we arrived." She said while pointing a hoof to the building in front of them.
He was so immersed on the chat that he didn't even noticed he reached his goal. He looked to the mayor office building and started to walk to the door. "Thank you Applejack, can I meet you when I finish this off? A smile on his face.
"Sure, but Ah bet Pinkie Pie will find y'all first, so, be prepared ta have a 'Welcome ta Ponyville Party', Ah live in 'Sweet Apple Acres' by the way, it's on the outskirts of the town." Said the orange earth pony waving and heading to her house with the ingredients.
Midnight headed to the mayor office and entered the building. He arrived at the door, knocking.
"You may enter." Said, what he thought was the voice of, the mayor.
"Hello, I came to talk about the house I wanted to buy here, is everything right for the moving?".
"Yes, we don't expect much ponies to move here, so, the preparatives can be arranged very quickly."
"Excelent, so, about the payment, the same price?"
"38,100 bits. The hundred bits is for the moving, it turned out less because there was not so much luggage."
He pulled some bags full of bits from one of his saddlebags, pulled fifty bits from inside, and passed the rest to the mayor mare. "I think that should pay it, now if you excuse me, I have some moving to do, have a nice day miss." He said while heading out of the room.
"Have a nice day too and don't forget to enjoy what our town has to offer." Said the mayor mare while handing a key to Midnight.
"She said in the letter that my new house is near to 'Carousel Boutique', seems I will have to ask somepony about it." He said while a smile was on it's way to his face.
He stopped a pony to ask for information about 'Carousel Boutique', the pony was a pegasus, yellow fur with pink mane.
"Hey, sorry for bothering you, but,can you tell me where I can find this 'Carousel Boutique'?"
"...hello, you aren't bothering me..." the aparently shy pegasus said trying to hide behind her mane. "...Carousel Boutique is right...there." She said pointing a hoof in the direction of a far away purple and blue building.
"Thank you, but, can I ask your name my lady?"
"...i-it's Fluttershy..." she said in an almost inaudible voice.
"Pardon me, I am afraid that I didn't quite catch your name."
"...it's Flutttershy..." she said in almost the same volume as before.
"Can you say it again, louder this time, please."
"...it's Fluttershy..."
"Now I get it! Nice to meet you Fluttershy, my name is Midnight, Midnight Spark." He presented himself extending a hoof, taking one of her forehoofs and kissing it. The shy yellow pegasus quivered a little at the act.
"N-nice to m-meet you too..."
"By the way, can you tell me where I can find 'Sweet Apple Acres'? A pony called Applejack told me that it is on the outskirts of the town."
"Y-yes, it is in this direction," she said while pointing a hoof at the road that leaded to the place he asked. "Y-you will get t-there if y-you keep on this r-road..."
"Thank you again for your kindness my lady, now I have to find my new house, if you excuse me. I think we will meet again very soon." said Midnight, a small smile graced his features.
"B-bye." Fluttershy said still hiding behind her mane.
Midnight headed to his new house, taking the key to the door on his magic. "The house has a moderate size, let's see the backyard." He said while observing the furniture and size of the rooms. He noticed that the sun bathed his house on its warm glow. When he arrived at the backyard a smile broke in his face. "Incredible..." he said contemplating the big open space in his backyard. "Exactly as I requested, I have a mayor to thank, again." He unpacked his things and summoned others. "I have to train this summoning spell, it's really difficult to maintain some itens in it." He said while a bead of sweat rushed down his face.
"I think I can go to that tour now, so, I'll head to Sweet Apple Acres." I'm eager to know more about the town that I want to call home.
Out of his new house, he headed to the road, but a rainbow streak started to make it's way to Midnight. Thinking fast, he made a wind barrier, he saw that it was a pony. The wind barrier decreased the speed of the rainbow streak, making the crash less effective. They went to the ground nonetheless.
"Are you alright Lady?" The rainbow maned pegasus with a cyan fur mare got up.
"I'm fine, do you think somepony as awesome as me can get hurt with a fall like that... Oh" She said with realisation. "Sorry about the crash, and don't call me Lady. Not cool man. Name's Rainbow Dash." The mare said.
"Sorry, Rainbow Dash, my name is Midnight Spark, would you mind if I ask what made you crash on me?"
"No. I was trying to make some stunts when I lost balance, and we were on the ground." Rainbow Dash said while giving a sheepish smile and a curious look to him. "I felt something dampening my crash, like a gust of wind, it was you?"
"Yes, my elemental magic, I made a wind barrier to dampen the fall, but I couldn't do one strong enought to complitely stop you by the time you crashed."
"Cool. Elemental magic, it's your special talent?" said the cyan pegasus.
"Yes, the stars represents the elements that I can control and create." He said while pointing a hoof to the twin silver stars on his flank.
"So, you know wind magic, but, what the other star means?"
"Water magic."
"Cool, but, where were you going when I crashed in you?
"The ponies in this town have lots of curiosity." He said with a smile. Rainbow Dash retorted. "I'm not in this kind of stuff, I don't like gossip!". Midnight tried explaining. "It's okay, I like ponies with curiosity, I already said this to Applejack and-"
"Did you said Applejack? You know her?" Asked Rainbow with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, I met her when I arrived in the town. She showed me the mayor building.
"You're not from here, are you?"
"No, I moved to a house here not an hour ago and she offered me a tour around the town. It was very generous of her." I'm liking this town more and more. Such good ponies and a nice cozy feeling to it.
Rainbow Dash started thinking. So, it's him, I better go to the barn before him.
"So, you know, when you get there, knock at the barn, AJ is probably working right now, but, go nevertheless. It was fun meeting you, I have to get going, some chores to do. See ya later."
Midnight saw a forest of apple trees, all with a bunch of bright red apples, in the middle of this field he saw a red building. "This has to be the home of Applejack."
Knocking at the barn's door he hears Applejack's voice saying: "Get in!". When he pushes the barn's door, he notice that everything is dark in the room, but he had no time to react at what was coming.
"SURPRISE" everypony yelled at the top of their lungs turning the lights on and leaving their hiding places. There were various ponies in the room. How did I not notice that the town was missing so much ponies? Hmm. Might as well enjoy this.
A pink earth pony was the first to come at the door to talk with the very surprised blue unicorn. "HELLO, welcome to your 'Welcome to Ponyville Party', my name is Pinkie Pie, what's your name?" The pink earth pony asked while giving him a massive smile.
The still surprised Midnight managed to say something. "...So, Pinkie Pie... My name is Midnight Spark, so, this is a 'Welcome to Ponyville Party' thrown for me? A surprise party indeed! How did you know that I moved to here so fast?"
"My Pinkie Sense told me that a new pony moved to the town, I just asked AJ about you and then she let me thrown the party in her barn, can I call you Mid?" That massive smile never leaving her face.
"Oh, come on Pinkie, let him breath." Said Applejack while trying to take the pink party pony away from him.
"Applejack, nice to see you again, I was going to ask if you could do that tour in the town, but, I think it can wait for now." He said, a smile forming in his face.
"Yep, enjoy the party Mid, Ah'll present y'all ta the other girls." AJ said while pointing a hoof to a bunch of mares. He started to recognize some of them. Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie who joined the other girls in the group. There was a pony that he didn't recognize, a unicorn mare with snow white fur and purple mane. He already read about that mare. "Aha, I got it now, she is Rarity, one of the greatest designers in Equestria, but only a few know about her work, really a shame." He said drooping his gaze a little. "Are my eyes fooling me? It can't be, it's Miss Twilight Sparkle, didn't expected to see her that soon!" Said the wide eyed blue unicorn. Surprise written all over his face.
He proceeded to make the first contact with Rarity and Twilight Sparkle while AJ was trying to present him to the other girls. "Girls, he is Midnight Spark, the new pony in town that I wanted ta present ta y'all. Midnight, that's-". She pointed at Rarity but Midnight interrupted. "Rarity," said Midnight completing Applejack's sentence. "one of the greatest designers of Equestria, my pleasure my fair lady." He said while taking Rarity's left forehoof and kissing it. "Oh darling, you flatter me like this, also a gentlecolt I can see." Said Rarity with a light red hue on her face. She wasn't accustomed to receive this treatment very often on the town.
"As Ah was sayin', Midnight, this is-" Applejack tried to finish the sentence. "Miss Twilight Sparkle, I am delighted to meet you, one of the most if not the most powerful unicorn in all of Equestria, your studies are quite remarkable as well." Finished Midnight taking one of Twilight's hoof and kissing it. Applejack was starting to get annoyed at his interruptions, if the frown on her face was any hint, but coped really well. "My pleasure, also, thank you about the compliment, it's hard to find a stallion that knows about my studies and Rarity as well, so, I think you read a lot of books then." Looks like I will have lots of subjects to discuss with him. Said the purple bookworm, her interest picked by this new dweller. "Indeed, I am also a fan of yours, it's really my pleasure to meet you." said Midnight.
"Oh...sorry," He noticed that he and Twilight weren't the only ones on the room. "I was so excited to see you that I forgot to say hi to the others, I'm really sorry. So, we meet again. Hi Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash." Said the blue unicorn.
"No need to apology, it's alright bro."
"Y-yes, w-we don't mind." Her shyness seeping away at every sentence.
"Of course, I got to know Miss Twilight Sparkle, Rarity and got presented to a few ponies of the town, thank you very much for this party."
"Okie Dokie Lokie! I am a party pony after all." The girls started to gather around Midnight. "Ah already told the girls why ya moved to Ponyville, but we don't know where did ya lived before, care to talk 'bout? Said Applejack
"Of course not, before I moved to Ponyville I used to live in Manehattan, but I have very few good memories from there, the ponies there are all snobs. I was raised by my parents, two of the few ponies that weren't snobs in the city, and I am very grateful to them for that." Said Midnight.
"Sorry for bringin' bad memories."
"We are very sorry for that darling, it was none of our business." Said Rarity.
"It's fine, I am much better now that I moved to here. Also, I already said to Rainbow Dash and Miss Applejack that I like curious ponies."
"Y'all don't have to call me miss, sugarcube."
"I was wondering, where do you live in the town?" Asked Rarity.
"Next to 'Carousel Boutique', I live in the blue house there, but I think 'Carousel Boutique' is where do you live, right Rarity?" Said Midnight.
"Absolutely right darling. So, you're my neighbor now, good to hear that, gentlecolts are always welcome to come to my house for a visit."
"Of course I will visit you, such a lady, I won't miss the chance." Said Midnight bowing.
"You can always visit us." Said Twilight with a smile in her face.
"Thank you for your kindness ladies and Rainbow Dash." Everypony's eyes turned to Rainbow Dash. "What? I said to him to not call me lady, it isn't cool." Answered Rainbow Dash. Everypony returned their normal expressions again, this was already expected.
"Sorry everypony, but I am afraid that I will have to leave, with this eventful day I am exhausted. Thank you everypony for coming to this party and I am grateful for the bonds I created with all of you. Now, good night for everypony and see you around."
"Even making a little speech, see you later then." Said Twilight.
"See ya later Mid." Said AJ joking with his new nickname given by Pinkie Pie.
"Haha, Mid, see you later." Said Rainbow Dash laughing with the nickname.
"GOOD NIGHT Mid!!" Said the energetic pink earth pony.
"Good night and don't forget that you can visit me when you want darling." Said Rarity.
"G-good night, a-are you m-mad with me f-for...not talking v-very much with y-you?" Said the shy yellow pegasus mare.
"I can't be mad at you Fluttershy, good night for you girls." Said Midnight while bowing to the girls.
After a little tour around Ponyville, Midnight already knew a lot of buildings, including places to eat as Sugar Cube Corner, the spa, he already knew about Carousel Boutique the day after. Also he had a pleasant chat with Applejack, he knew more about the girls and their adventures in first hoof, Applejack knew about his talent, more than what Rainbow Dash already said the night after.
"So, that's pretty much everythin' in the town that y'all need ta know." Said Applejack.
"Thank you very much for everything, including the pleasant talk." Said Midnight
"There's no problem in helpin' a friend, right?"
"I don't think so... wait... did you just called me a friend?" Said the surprised Midnight.
"Yep, why, there's something wrong?"
"Of course no, but... no one ever called me a friend before, so, it's a little strange."
"Guess everythin' have a first try, but, why no one called y'all a friend?"
"I am pretty much certain that is because I wasn't a very social pony in the past."
"So, Manehattan was that bad for y'all?"
"Yes, but I think it's because I spent a big chunk of my life with my face buried in books too."
"So, we have another bookworm, Ah bet y'all would get along pretty well with Twah."
"Yeah, I think Miss Twilight Sparkle read lots of books."
"Yep, but keep the fancy talk for you two okay?" Said Applejack with a smile.
"Of course. I think I'll pay a visit to the Library. See you later then?"
"Yep, go see Twah, Ah think she'll like the visit."
"Bye Applejack!" Said Midnight waving a hoof.
"Bye Mid!" Hahahahaha. Ah think something will come out of these two, but it's too soon ta assume this. We'll see.
Reaching the backyard in Midnight's house Twilight started. "It's really big in here, a very good place to start." She changes to a more serious tone. "Alright, first I want you to tell me what you already know about your magic and we can start from that."
"Yes ma'am, I already know how to use my magic to daily tasks and common activities, I want to apply this in a combat instance if I have to. For wind element: I know how to make whirlwinds, wind barriers to help with defense and dampen falls, wind spheres, I can use the wind control to give me a boost of speed, I can change the density of the air around me enough for me to take four steps in the air without falling. As for the water element: small waterfalls, water barriers to help with fire and increased defense, water spheres, I can change the density of the water around me enough to walk on it and I can also make a filter mask of magic that filters the water and leaves just the air, enough to make somepony breath under water for about 10 minutes. Aside from my elemental magic I only can do levitation, teleporting, summoning and shield spells, the shield spell is weaker than a normal one, so I use the elemental magic to enhance the spell. That's pretty much everything I know about my magic." Said Midnight taking a lungful of air.
"Impressive, when did you get time for learn all of this?" Said Twilight surprised.
"I discovered the two elemental magics when I was just a foal, so, I had much free time to enhance it, and because I was by my own i trained very hard virtually every day. In my free time I also read books, so I got to know very much of magic."
"So, you're like me, I spent all my life until now reading books and been taught by Princess Celestia, do you mind me if I ask a little question?"
"Go on, I'll try my best to answer it."
"Do you had any friends until now?"
"...I don't think so...until now, Applejack called me a friend, I still have to get used to it."
"I see, but now I know it will be better, I'm your friend as well, I used to think that friendship was a wast of time, but now that I have friends I can see clearly that I was wrong. I think you will feel the same way soon."
"I think you're right Miss Sparkle. I'll wait to see if its true and I want it to be. Such wonderful friends as you and the girls."
"Good to hear that, but, don't we have a training to take care of?"
"Of course, sorry Miss Sparkle, let's start this."
After some time of discussing strategies and how to turn some of the elemental magic to be used in a combat instance Twilight says. "As you said, unicorns can only use two elemental magics, if this book is right. If there is probably no chance in getting a third combat aimed element... uhm... and if you combine the effects of the two elements you already have in one spell?"
"Yes, I see where you're going, let's try this!" Said Midnight grinning from ear to ear.
"Just focus your magic to bring the good effects of the two elements."
"Calmness and steadiness of the water, turmoil and instability of the wind. Almost there." Said Midnight focusing more magic. The aura in his horn starting to flicker. "Almost there." The aura flickering more and finally dying out. "Ah, almost got it."
"Try one more time, I think you will manage." Cheered Twilight.
"Ok!" His aura start flickering again. "Almost there." He said while a drop of sweat rolled his face. "Almost there." The aura flickering more once again. "Now!" He said creating a bluish-white orb, upon a closer look it was indeed ice, an orb of pure ice created out of thin air. A light shone on Midnight's flank.
"Wait, what's that? It's ICE?!" I thought the book said unicorns could use only two elements. I would like to study this when I get back to Ponyville.
"Wow, I created ice!"
"It's not the only new thing, look at your flank!"
"It's shining...there...it's another star...so, this means that I know three elements now?" Said Midnight jumping with joy.
"I would say so, if the others meant that, this one can only mean this."
"Oh, thank you Miss Twilight Sparkle, I'm very grateful for that, if it wasn't for you I think I would never have found that."
"I was just helping a friend, it's what friends do, right?"
"Yeah, I think so, but, thank you anyways."
"You're very welcome."
"I think I'll practice by my self for now, when I make some progress you will be the first pony that I'm going to tell."
"Best of luck for you then, Princess Celestia told me to be at Canterlot tomorrow, so, try your best with this new magic of yours. The training was more of an advice, I like when ponies want to make progress by themselves, but you know, if you want any help, say it."
"Of course Miss Sparkle, thank you again, good luck with Princess Celestia and good night."
The sun started to rise when Twilight got up to start the library chores, it was no different than any other morning. Then, Spike went to the library's kitchen, Twilight notice that. "Good morning Spike, why are you up this early?"
"Good morning Twilight, I was having a nice dream with Rarity when 'this' ruined the whole thing." He said while handing to Twilight a letter.
"It's from Princess Celestia, the Princess told me to go to Canterlot later today, why she sent me a letter?"
"I don't know, read it, I'm going straight back to bed."
Twilight started to read it. Seconds later she finished the letter. "It says that the Princess want me to gather the Elements and go immediately to Canterlot." Must be a really bad thing. Twilight, don't panic...DON'T panic.
She runs out to gather the other Elements. She goes first at Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack certainly was awake by now.
Not far from there, Midnight was awake packing his things. "I think it's all packed up, today I start training my new ice magic, I can't say if I'm worth any help, so, I will make Twilight proud for taking time helping me out." With this, he took the house key and his saddlebags in his magic, he placed the saddlebags at his back and then went off, locking the house. "I think I will go to Sugar Cube Corner get a few cupcakes, just to start the day, then, I'll head out from the town."
After gathering all the Elements, Twilight explained the best way she could, there was no further information in the letter. "As I said, the Princess want us to go to Canterlot immediately, she told by the letter that she wanted me to gather the other Elements and go straight to Canterlot." They arrived at the train station.
Midnight saw them at his way out of the town and went there to say good morning to his new friends. "Good morning girls."
"Oh, hi Midnight, good morning to you too." Said Rarity.
"Can I ask why are all of you in the train station this early?"
"Princess Celestia want to see us right away." Said Rainbow Dash.
"Oh, I wonder why is there such a hurry."
"We don't know, the Princess just said to gather the Elements and go immediately to Canterlot." Said Twilight.
"You told me yesterday that the Princess wanted you to go to Canterlot today, it seems you will have to go earlier."
"I'm still confused, my head is a mess of ideas on why the Princess summoned as so early and in such a hurry. But, why are you wearing saddlebags?" Asked Twilight.
"Oh, sorry, I forgot to tell you, I'm going out of the town for a little while to start the training of my new magic in a more appropriate place. When I got here I found the perfect place to do this."
"So, when we get back we won't see you here?" Asked Pinkie Pie.
"Yes, but just for a little while, I think a week will do the job."
"Good luck with that training of yours!" Said Applejack.
"Thank you, but, when I get back here I want to know exactly what happened between you and Princess Celestia."
"We will make sure you know everything." Said Twilight.
"Bye girls, I think I'm going now."
"Bye Midnight." Said the girls.
And then Midnight headed to the place of the training.
The place chosen by Midnight to start the training was a special place, it was about 9 miles away from Ponyville, very quiet and peaceful. It was a waterfall rounded by a dense forest, the perfect place to train ice magic. The vision was wonderful, under the waterfall was a lake with an island in the middle. Midnight set up camp at the little beach in front of the lake. "I think this place is isolated enough, there is no creatures here, so, I won't be bothered." Midnight finished setting the camp and proceeded to the shore in front of the island. I think I now the perfect way to start the training.
Some miles away from there, the train was about to reach the city of Canterlot.
"We are here." Said Rainbow Dash with her head out of the window.
Don't panic Twilight, keep it together, it's probably nothing... Don't fool yourself Twilight, you know it's probably something bad.
The girls reached Canterlot Palace, the guards let them pass immediately. Upon reaching the throne room, they saw Celestia passing back and forth. "Princess, we came as fast as we could. What is the matter?"
"Twilight, the matter is of great importance, follow me." The girls followed Celestia through the corridors.
"This morning, an old enemy of Equestria returned. Princess Luna and I imprisoned him in stone for a thousand years with the power of the Elements of Harmony. Before we stood against him, he ruled Equestria in eternal chaos and disharmony, his name is Discord."
"But Princess, why haven't I red about him in any books?" Asked Twilight.
"Because my sister and I thought it was better to burn every book that contained information about him to maintain peace and harmony, we ordered for everypony not to tell this to it's descendants, we are sorry for hiding this information, but now, you must know."
"Princess, how he escaped from being stone?"
"I think he escaped because we are no longer connected with the Elements of Harmony, you are the new welders. It must be you who will conquer Discord once again."
Midnight started training, he started by trying to make an ice bridge between the shore and the island. "This is really difficult, I'm getting exhausted just from the concentration to make the ice, I will have to train very hard to make this easy." Once again he tried to make the magic ice cover the surface of the water, failing. "It gets a lot of concentration to create the ice and a lot more to bend it and cover the water with it." Something snapped in his head. What is this? A bad feeling? I don't really know. It must be nothing. He spent some hours trying to do the bridge. "I think I'm getting the way of this. Better try to make the ice easier to create first."
Midnight reached his camp and lighted the fire. "I think that if I can freeze this fire, it will get easier to make the ice and it will be stronger, so, let's try." He tried it for about an hour and fell asleep with the exhaustion hitting him. With this, he doesn't noticed the random changing between day and night.
Earlier at the same day. Princess Celestia attempted to give the girls the Elements, but they were no where to be found. Discord made his great appearance at Canterlot Palace's windows. After some presentations and threats, Discord said in his way, where to find the Elements of Harmony. "To retrieve your missing Elements just make sense of this change of events. Twists and turns are my master plan. Then find the Elements back where you began." He said while disappearing from the window.
After some time chasing for the Elements in the Palace's Maze, with some rules created by Discord, including no use of horns, wings, and everypony has to play or he wins, five of the mane six were already changed, their fur was greyish instead of the normal tone, they started to behave in the opposite way they always do, including that Rainbow Dash was nowhere to be found either. Discord have visited every one of them, using his lies and strategy to make them fall apart using the Elements that they represents.
Seeing that the maze doesn't hold the Elements and Discord proclaimed that he won because Rainbow Dash exited the maze, Twilight said: "The Elements aren't here. We have to think, that rhyme." Back where you began, back where you began. "That's it, back where you began, the Elements are in Ponyville. Let's go girls."
Upon reaching Ponyville, the town was a wreck, everything was chaos, houses floating in the air, the road turned to soap, and the day and night were changing randomly. Twilight found the Elements in a book in her library, but with the discorded girls, it took time to take back the book, Fluttershy was behaving like a school bully, Applejack started lying about everything, Rarity took a giant boulder from the maze with her thinking that it was a giant diamond and didn't let anypony even touch it, Pinkie was with straight mane and thinking that everypony was making fun of her, Rainbow Dash just didn't seemed to be loyal at all, she just disappeared.
Twilight tried to make the Harmony Rainbow to use against Discord, switching Rainbow's place with Spike. It doesn't worked, as expected. With this, the mane six disbanded, turning Twilight's fur to a more greyish tone. It was this what did the snap in Midnight's head.
Midnight awaked, seeing the random change between day and night. "This is really strange, was that bad feeling about this? Probably yes, but right now I can't do a thing. My magic isn't for combat yet, if there is something bad, Princess Celestia can take care of it, she is with the Elements of Harmony by her side, I'm really worried for the girls. But, as I said, there is nothing that I can do with my current state, in order to do something, I have to practice my ice magic. I wish you good luck girls, whatever you are doing, I will try to master this magic as fast as I can and then return to Ponyville."
Twilight was returning to the library to pack her things, because her friends weren't even friends anymore. When she started to pack her things, Spike said the Princess was sending letters all the time, at his side was a mountain of letters. Twilight recognized them, they were the friendship reports written by her, she started reading and remembered the importance of friendship returning her fur to the normal tone. With this, she went out to return her fiends to their normal state of mind and stand against Discord once more.
After returning all her friends to their right minds she attempted the Harmony Rainbow once more, Discord, realizing that the Rainbow was at full power too late, was frozen in stone once more with a horrified face. Resuming, don't buck with friendship!
Midnight woke up the next morning, the sun and the moon stopped their frenzy through the sky. " Thank Celestia it stopped! I think I can stop worrying about the girls, they should be fine." He got to the shore, took a quick bath at the lake. Ugh, this water is really cold, but nothing like a good bath before starting the day. "I think I will continue on the bridge," he said while heading to the sand again. "Then, when the night start again, I will continue on trying to freeze the fire."
The week went slow to the girls, after the 'incident' with Discord they backed away from each other for a while, most trying to apologize for their behavior while in discorded forms. The first day went really slow, with exceptions, they went to their respective houses to tell their families that they were okay. The entire town of Ponyville heard that the girls defeated Discord, Equestria's most dangerous threat, the ponies gathered at the center of the town to make a party for the girls, and of course, Pinkie Pie was helping a lot at the preparations for the party.
After the party the girls went to the library, they planned to do a sleepover there. Twilight, of course accepted, this night was special. At the sleepover the girls would talk to each other, apologize, as well as strengthen their bonds after such stress in fighting Discord, with this, their friendship was renewed and stronger than ever.
After some tiring session of training trying to create the bridge in the second day, he finally went out successful, realizing now that it was already full night. "Finally, but this bridge is still weak, I managed to create an ice cover on the water, I think it is time to go to the camp and try again freezing the fire."
He went to the camp and tried to freeze the fire once more, realizing that it was getting easier to try this out. After some unsuccessful attempts, about two hours later, he almost fainted because of the stress and fatigue and went to the tent.
He woke up in the third day staring at the sunlight. Morning again, another day of training. With this he went to the lake and took a quick bath, like the morning before. I think today I will try to strengthen the bridge, and at night, back to trying to freeze the fire, if it's really a plausible idea. So, he went to the front of the shore and made the bridge again, this time trying to do it stronger. "To start the next step of the training I have to cross that bridge by hoof, or I won't be able to do what I intent."
He tried to strengthen the bridge several times, sweat running through his body. "This is harder than it looks." Every attempt failing, every time he tried to step on the bridge, it would crack and shatter to pieces.
Finally, after several attempts to do the trick, he could step on the bridge without it cracking and shattering, at least, not at the beginning. "Finally, now I can cross it, so, to the next st-". Was what he could say before the bridge collapsed at his hoof, leaving him to the cold waters. "It seems I will have to practice more, hahahaha."
After some time trying again, he succeeded. "Just to make sure." He started jumping on the bridge, it didn't cracked. "Finally! Starting step two of the training." But, it was already night. "Or get back to the camp." He said frowning. "So, the fire again. Today I will succeed in this."
After getting to the camp again he lit up the fire and sat next to it. "Let's do it!" He said trying again freezing the fire. After some time he slowly was freezing it, but the fire would melt the ice almost immediately. After some more tries he froze half of the fire in a moment. "Some progress, now this ice is starting to understand what I'm talking about." He chuckled.
Some more time trying and he succeeded, but only for a moment before the fire melted it away. "Now I made some progress, let's try some more." So, he tried again and again, failing to maintain the fire frozen for more than a moment.
"I think I'm getting there, just some more tries." He said while holding the ice for two seconds. "It's not the power used to maintain it, it's the power to strengthen the ice that I need." Trying more times, he succeeded, the fire was frozen for more than ten seconds. "At last, it was about time for this fire to give up." He said before chuckling. With this he went to sleep.
Starting the next day, day four, he did the same routine and was about to make the ice bridge again. "Now, starting the next step of the training." He did the ice bridge and crossed it. "Now that I'm here I can start the next step, finally, freeze the waterfall."
He made another ice bridge to the bottom of the waterfall. "Let's start next to it." So, he went with his first attempts of freezing the waterfall, thanks to the previous training, it was getting easier to produce the ice and make it strong enough to freeze at least a part of the waterfall, but after hours trying he noticed that it wasn't easy like he thought.
In day five, he woke up sooner and went to the training, at first, no results, at least not in the beginning of the day. After some hours he could almost freeze half of the waterfall, he thought of this like an advance in the training, but it was still hard to do even that, but progress is progress. Some hours later he ate some apples and the remaining cupcakes that he bought from Sugar Cube Corner, these were his meals until this day, thanks to the conservational system from the summoning spell, and went to sleep.
Day six, he was feeling lazy, so he started later than usual, but needless to say, with the same energy than the other days. Making progress about freezing the waterfall, he could almost freeze the entire thing, and it was getting easier to do every time he did. After some hours he finally froze the waterfall. "Aha, the training is finished, but sooner than I expected, I have one day left and the remaining of this day, what to do in this time? I have something to improve?" He said while putting a hoof on his chin. "Aha, I can improve my defense, but what kind of defense? Yes, an armor. Ice armor? This would work? I'll give it a try, I will use that remaining day to see if this works." So he went with the plan, at first he tried making a piece of armor at his hoof, "If I use armor in my whole body I will be frozen where I stand, this wouldn't help." so it will be better if he tries this way.
The same thing for the last day, day seven. "This could easily be used as defense and attack, because the ice would absorb the impact of an attack used against me and give more impact to my attacks." So he tried, after some time he could make armor parts around his body and create weapons with ice, he kept training this for the remaining day, at the end of the day his training was complete. "Finally, after a good night sleep I can return to Ponyville and see the girls. I wonder what was the thing Celestia called them for, tomorrow I will ask the girls, just wait Twilight, now I have the power to protect you and the girls."
