All the students in my class had gotten their cutie mark, even my twin sister; I was the only one who hadn't got one yet!
"Goodbye Scootaloo! Don't come back until you have a mark on that flank with meaning!"
My parents never were all that nice, especially about my blank flank. I was told I couldn't come back to Cloudsdale until I had found my special talent. I didn't know what it could be though, but knowing all about Rainbow Dash, I knew she lived in Ponyville, so that's where I set out to travel to.
I First learned of Rainbow Dash when my mom told me she babysat her, I'd heard so much about Rainbow Dash and how good of a flyer she was, My mom told me stories all the time! It just Amazed me! Ever Since I've been a huge fan of hers. I just couldn't believe how awesome she was!
I traveled all over Equestria until I ran into a nice pony in Manehattan, her name was Twilight Sparkle, she was there to buy new books for her studies, which I heard she does a lot of.We met at the Manehattan bridge, she saw me sleeping under a bridge with my Rainbow dash poster and suggested me coming back with her.
When we got back I stayed with Twilight and her dragon, Spike. They were very nice, but I didn't want anyone to think differently or her because I was staying with her even if I am forever grateful to her, so Twilight helped by conjuring up my own cottage very close to hers; it was small but peaceful, and I could see Cloudsdale from my window. I was getting homesick, I loved Cloudsdale and I had friends there, I especially loved visiting the track that Rainbow had her first race, which is where she also got her cutie mark.
When we go to Ponyville, I traveled all around Ponyville looking for Rainbow Dash but the first pony I met was a very hyper Earth pony named Pinkie Pie, and she was with a Pegasus named Fluttershy. They introduced me to Rarity, a unicorn, and another Earth pony named Applejack. They all were friends of Twilight but I just couldn't find Rainbow Dash. Where could she be?
Rarity asked me to help her get a gem that can only be found in the clouds so I did, I thought that Rainbow Dash could be up there but she wasn't. After I got the gem for Rarity I went back to her house with her; She was making a dress for her little sister, Sweetie Belle. She wanted me to size it for her, apparently Sweetie Belle's birthday was coming up! I didn't want to ruin her birthday so of course I did it. When we were done Rarity and I had tea, and Sweetie Belle joined us! She is another blank flank! I was beginning to think I was the only one. But I'm not! I jumped for joy! Sweetie Bell and I hung out, but just until it got dark, I don't want to worry Twilight.
When I checked in with Twilight, she was pacing back and forth, I told her I was back and asked if she needed help. She did. I helped her look for her book, and while doing so, I found a book all about cutie marks! She let me take it back into my cottage to read!
I was just sitting there reading my book when my door opened.
"Hey Scootaloo! I'm about to go to sleep, is there anything you need?"
"No, just leave the light on please."
"Will do!... Can I ask you something."
"Yeah, of course!"
"Why are you so determined to get your cutie mark?"
It was silent for what seemed like forever. But I figured I'm going to have to tell her eventually, so that's exactly what I did.
"My dad doesn't want me to come home until I have one, and the sooner I get one the sooner I get to go home."
"Here's a word of advice, do something you're already familiar with... Maybe your scooter could be your special talent. Maybe try some new tricks, and you'll get it sooner than expecting... Besides, I don't know of any pony who got there cutie mark in something they did for the first time that day."
"Thanks, Twilight. I'll practice new tricks all day tomorrow."
"Okay, well good luck. I might be gone when you get up. Just please be careful, and if you need anything just go to Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack is also very good at helping with problems.and if she's not there i'm sure Big Macintosh could help."
I really do appreciate everything Twilight has done for me and she gives amazing advice; Which I had to follow! As soon as she left my room I hopped up from my window seat to shut the light off and I curled up in bed. After all, I have a big day tomorrow!
I woke up at the roosters call the next morning. After I ate breakfast, I grabbed my pouch from the window seat and went on my way!
I didn't know what new tricks I could do so I hopped on my scooter and traveled all over Ponyville until I reached Sweet Apple Acres, I first saw a big red stallion, I assumed that was Big Macintosh but I wasn't sure.
"Hi! Are you Big Macintosh?"
"yupp"
"Is Apple Jack here?"
"nnope"
"Do you know when she'll be back?"
"nnope"
I heard small footsteps come up behind me, it was an elder green mare.
"Why!? Who is this little filly!"
Bic Macintosh looked at me, puzzled. He obviously didn't know my name.
"I'm Scootaloo"
"I reckon you're here for Apple Bloom?"
"Apple Bloom?" "nnope" Bic Macintosh and I said our lines like we was in sync or somethin.
"Why, I'll be! Who's this little filly here for?"
"Applejack! Do you know where I could find her?"
"No, Filly I do not! But I'll reckon shes down at the market selling apples."
"Alright thanks!"
I rode my scooter as fast as I could to town square. While ramping over a cart I saw Rainbow Dash! O my golly! I can not believe it! As soon as my wheel hit the ground I sped to Rainbow Dash.
"Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!"
She turned her head then her body toward me.
"Yes?"
"Hi! I'm Scootaloo! I was wondering if you know any tricks on a scooter? I want to be the best scooterer there ever was!"
"Sorry, I cant help you with that, I'm a flyer!"
Rainbow Dash held up her wings like a princess, obviously modest! But who can blame her?!?
"Could you teach me some flying tricks, and I could work them in with my scooter?"
"Sorry kid, I'm busy clearing the skies, maybe tomorrow, I'll be here in town about this time everyday, just try finding me if you need anything."
I looked up in the sky, but only to see that it already was clear. Was that just her way of getting rid of me? I'd never felt so disappointed in my life. My role model.. No! my idol denied teaching me. I couldn't believe it, what was I supposed to do now? I guess there was only one thing I could do... I went to the market and found Applejack, she helped me to come up with new tricks on my scooter, but it just wasn't the same. It should have been Rainbow Dash helping me.
I had a rough day and it just got rougher. Diamond Tiara, who's picked on Sweetie Bell for a long time, invited me to her Cutesenara! I never been good at making friends and how was I supposed to be any better if no pony thinks your special enough to be friends with other than the ones who also have blank flanks! O, this is just horrible! Sweetie Bell and I are the only ones who don't know our special talent! What will the other think of us! ________________________________________________________________________________
About a week later was Diamond Tiara's cutesenara and as soon as we entered Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were shooting insults at us like crazy! But when another blank flank entered they left us alone, we didn't want this pony getting made fun of the way we were so we watched from under a table until we thought it was time to show ourselves. When we did it was amazing,all of a sudden we were the spotlight of this party! It was absolutely amazing, we even made a group called the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Apple Jack even let us use her old clubhouse as our new clubhouse! Of course, we had to build it back up to our standards! It turned out to be absolutely AMAZING!
Us Cutie Mark Crusaders are AWESOME! We've come a long way so far and tried everything we can think of! It's impossible! Apple Bloom is beginning to think we're destined to be Blank Flanks! But is that possible? We must have a talent!
After pondering this idea for a long time I went up into the tree to ask Twilight about cutie marks but she was talking to Fluttershy so I pretended I was in there just to get a book.
"Hey! Is everything okay? You look upset?" The little dragon was hobbling to catch up to me.
"No, Apple Bloom thinks we're destined to be blank flanks forever!"
Spike was obviously confused, he stopped walking so I did too and he was just looking down at his little dragon feet rubbing the ground.
"Scootaloo, I don't know much about cutie marks but I do know they come with your talent and everyone has a talent! You'll get it! Don't worry you just gotta keep trying!" Spike was running back into the tree as I was walking to my cottage.
"Hey Scootaloo! Ill tell Twilight to visit you once Flutter Shy leaves."
I'm pretty sure Fluttershy never left, I didn't see Twilight all night. I guess it's time to sleep, maybe she can talk tomorrow.
Zzz...Zzz...Zzz...Zzz..Zzz
I woke up because the room got very bright all of a sudden.
"Sorry to wake you; Spike told me you wanted to talk?"
I got out of bed then went and sat on my window seat to talk to Twilight "Yeah, I do."
"Is everything alright?"
"No... Not really anyway."
"Well what's going on, Scootaloo?"
"Apple Bloom has an idea that we might be destined to be blank flanks forever."
"Scootaloo, that's not possible, every pony has a talent, some ponies just have to wait longer. But everyone DOES get a cutie mark eventually."
"But, don't you think we've waited long enough?"
"Personally, yes. but that doesn't mean you wont get it, no pony can change a cutie marks timing."
"Then what do I do until I get my mark?"
"Hang out with your friends. Oh, before I forget I brought you something" Twilight's horn had a purple aurora around it. as she pulled a book from her saddlebag.

"How'd you know this is why I was upset?"
"Spike may have told me some information before I came over here."
"Thanks Twilight!"
"Plus, you need something to do tomorrow with your friends."
"What?"
"Applejack invited you and Sweetie Belle over to play with Applebloom."
"Oh, thank you Twilight!"
"Now go back to bed I'm going to work on a spell Princess Celestia sent me. Good night, Scootaloo!"
When Twilight left I began looking out my window up at Cloudsdale. man do I miss it! I just hope I get my cutie mark soon so I can go back. I miss my family so much!
When I woke up I headed straight to Sweet Apple Acres but there was something weird today the sky was... Checker designed? What are those pegasi up to?
I had no time to wonder about the clouds, I had to keep moving, this was exciting stuff!
"Chapter 1. Your name and your mark. It's most often that your name will connect to your mark. sometimes this may not be true, but if you're a foal looking for your mark, start by doing something that your name can connect to." As soon as Sweetie Bell read that all of our faces lit up!
"Our names!"
"That's what we've been missing!"
"We need to think of what our names connect to!"
"Applebloom! Your name is easy, you've got to have something to do with apples!"
"Maybe I'm an apple bucker!"
"Or an apple plucker!"
"What about an apple picker!"
"Girls, wait! This is what we need to do, after we discuss we need to go seperate to find our own marks and meet back her tomorrow with our progress."
"Got it!" "Gotcha!"
"Let's do mine next.. Hmm Sweetie Belle..."
We discussed until about 3 o' buck and then we separated. I went and looked for Rainbow Dash, She helped me this time! She helped me to learn a lot more tricks, but we mainly went off of flying tricks! But they all were pretty cool, there was even a crowd watching us for a while, and almost all the ponies watching told me what they thought of it. They all like it!
Eventually I became exhausted so I went back to my cottage and slept.
Zzz...Zzz...Zzz...Zzz..
I was riding my Scooter with Rainbow Dash flying by my side. I did something unforgettable! Rainbow taught me how to make a sonic rain boom and after I did it I landed on my Scooter and rode off. As I was riding away a small flash appeared on my butt. It was a cutie mark. A very bight cutie mark? Purple?
It was a light coming from outside. Me getting a cutie mark was just a dream? But what was that light?
When I looked outside I saw Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy surrounding and staring at a glowing purple orb. What was going on! Then, an even brighter flash. This was more like lightning though. But it was a pony who came out of the orb. No! AN ALICORN! An alicorn came out of the orb but it wasn't just any alicorn it was... TWILIGHT! .
Man! I'm having weird dreams. After I decided it was a dream I cuddled back under my blanket and fell asleep.
When I woke up I went to Twilight's Tree but she wasn't there neither was Spike, just a burn on the wooded floor. Where could they be?
When I found out I was alone. I went to go to Sweet Apple Acres to meet Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. While I was riding through the town every pony was staring at me. I ignored them and just kept riding. When I got to Sweet Apple Acres, my friends weren't out in the orchard so I asked Granny Smith where they were. She told me Apple Bloom went out to the club house early this morning. Before I walked away Granny Smith stopped me.
"Woa Filly. What is your talent?"
"I don't know yet Granny Smith that's why I'm a crusader."
"Then you might want to look at your flank."
"What? A cutie mark! Yes! I got to go, Thanks granny smith!"
I rode to the clubhouse on my scooter I didn't get that great of a look but I had to show it to the other crusaders. I wonder if they're still crusaders.
When I got to the club house it was only Apple Bloom there, she was standing there at the door smiling at me. So we were there face to face. "Um. Where's Sweetie Belle?"
"I don't know! But look at this!" Apple Bloom faced her side toward me and bucked. There was cutie mark! It was an apple tree sapling!
"Oh my! look I got one too!" I turned to show her mine.
"Whoa, what's it supposed to be?" We both were looking directly at it.
"I see a scooter. But what did you do to get it? I cant tell what the rainbow colored thing is supposed to be."
"I didn't do anything, I woke up with it!"
"You dreamt it! What was your dream about."
"Well, Rainbow Dash was helping me learn new tricks. She taught me how to do a sonic rain boom. I landed on my scooter then rode away."
"That means you can perform a sonic rain boom! You have to get Rainbow Dashes help! She's the only other pony who can do it!"
"Speaking of Rainbow Dash, I saw her again last night after my dream. I don't know if it was a dream though. Her, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were all standing around Twilight who was changing into and alicorn. Was Applejack here last night?"
"No, she wasn't hear all day. For some reason Pinkie Pie was here doing Applejack's job. Pinkie Pie couldn't plant the trees so I helped her and got this!" Applejack showed her cutie mark once again.
"Maybe what I was seeing wasn't a dream after all!"
Sweetie Belle came after this and heard something about a dream then saw the other two Ponyville crusaders flanks. "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! We all got our cutie marks!" Sweetie Belle turned to show us her cutie mark. It was music notes.
"We always knew you were a mighty good singer!" Sweetie Belle smiled and then asked one more question. "What's this about a dream?"
Apple Bloom and I told Sweetie Belle everything. How we got our cutie marks and me seeing Twilight form into an alicorn, even the checkered sky.
Sweetie Belle was confused. After she heard Pinkie Pie was doing Applejack's work she told them that when she went downstairs yesterday morning and Applejack was there making dresses.
"So where are they now?"
"I don't know, Rarity didn't come home last night."
"Yeah, neither did Applejack."
"And when I went to the library this morning, Twilight and Spike were gone too, there was only a burn on the floor."
The foals sat on the floor, confused. All of a sudden a flash appeared. It was Twilight and four other ponies. The foals all ran down to meet them.
"Look Applejack I got my cutie Mark!"
"Look at this Rarity!" The ponies showed off there cutie marks
"Twilight, Where is Rainbow Dash?"
"She's still in Canterlot."
The foals looked at the ponies, puzzled "Canterlot?"
"Yes, That's why none of us were home this morning or last night." Twilight explained to them everything that happened the past day and showed the fillies her new wings.
"Whoa, Twilight. You're a princess!"
"Yes, but please don't treat me any differently."
"Don't worry we wont."
Rainbow Dash flew in and right away saw the fillies cutie marks. Scootaloo ran up to Rainbow Dash as she lifted her wing to hug Scootaloo. "Rainbow Dash! My mark has a sonic rain boom!" Scootaloo told everyone of her dream and asked Rainbow Dash to help her learn to perform a sonic rain boom, which they'd begin working on the next day.
"Also we have a note it's from Celestia." Twilight held up the scroll and began to read it aloud. "Princess Twilight Sparkle will now be a mentor of Scootaloo from Cloudsdale."
"Mentor?" Twilight explained to Scootaloo what a mentor does. "Also, there are two pony who will be coming later today. Meet me in the orchard in about an hour, Rainbow Dash and I have to pick them up. Your friends can come if they'd like!"
The three fillies were so excited, Sweetie Belle and Applebloom had no idea who it could be but Scootaloo had an idea.

An hour later,
The fillies were running to meet Twilight in the orchard. Scootaloo knew who it would be but she was not looking forward to it.
Once the fillies arrived they saw two pegasi standing in the orchard. Rainbow Dash and Twilight were on the outside of them each. Scootaloo missed her parents so much. She ran up to her mother and father who held her closely and then backed up after her dad had cleared his throat.
"Scootaloo, we know we said we wanted you back in Cloudsdale once you got a cutie mark. But, this cutie mark was worth the wait it has much more meaning then we expected and we want you to stay in Ponyville with Rainbow Dash and Twilight. You will leave your cottage though, because your mother and I found a cloud for us and your sister to live on. While we are here, Rainbow Dash agreed to teaching you all about flying. and sonic rain booms."
"Scootaloo's sister came out from behind her dad and hugged Scootaloo"
The three pegasi flew off to the new cloud, and Rainbow Dash agreed to take her back later. Twilight went back to her tree and Rainbow Dash stuck around talking to Applejack.
Scootaloo told the other two crusaders everything, including why she was in Ponyville and that she was staying with Twilight the entire time.
