Long ago, before the founding of Equestria between the Three Kingdoms, a particular Kingdom once existed. This was the First Kingdom, The Alicorns; members of ponykind that possessed all three types of magic. Magic of the body, magic of the wing, and magic of the horn. They were few, but grace spread wherever they cantered, and glory followed at their hooves. The latest in the line of Alicorns, Celestia and Luna, were cared for and loved by their mother and father as they became groomed to some day usher in a new era for ponykind; to unite them under one banner in the inevitable future.

Thousands of years later, in present day Equestria, after trials and tribulations aplenty, the two sisters of the sun and moon have done just that, despite the past returning to haunt their prosperity and tear their efforts asunder. Each adversary was met with the strength, values, and magic that bound the world, be it through powerful artifacts or through valiant hearts.

However, no matter the troubles, Celestia, the matriarch of the Sun, held anxious; paranoid for a threat far worse than everything they’ve faced combined. Something so horrible that it required the summoning of six extremely dangerous extra-equestrian beings to stand guard beside the Elements of Harmony. An event so catastrophic, that nothing short of the full force of harmony and chaos combined is needed to even hope to repel what’s to come. A repeat in history so monumental that it once resulted in the exact reason why Celestia and Luna were the last of their kind for so long.

It began a few weeks ago. Normally, she doesn't have trouble sleeping despite the late nights required for her job as an infamous Disk Jocky, but something was happening night after night that made Vinyl Scratch fail to catch her Zs. She suddenly wakes up in the middle of the night, unable to move from her bed, and scared out of her mind. What's worse is that despite not being able to move, she can feel something there is with her. Something moving. Something breathing. It terrifies her to no end, and the only hope she has is to wait the long, painful hours before for the morning sun's rise.

Will she be able to escape this waking nightmare, or will the sleep deprivation drive her over the edge? Regardless, at least her tunes always seem to be set up in absolutely radical positions in her gear, leaving one less thing to worry about, but she can't remember if she adjusted them herself...

For eons, uncounted and unseen, darkness was its life. From exile, to servitude, to reconstruction, and finally, after so much tragedy, to containment. Locked and hidden, only cold, hateful violence filled its soul. Even its host couldn't control it for long.

However it was not so at first. The host, the miserable human that had come across it, sparked long lost fragmented memories of what it once was. Such overwhelming light and love, and a name.

Celestia

Another winter had come to Ponyville, bringing promises of another joyous Hearths Warming. The cheer and good will was infectious and abundant, ready to be celebrated. However, after a strange cast of lights ripped across the sky over Everfree Forest's horizon, something changed. The winter became foreboding. The atmosphere gained an ominous presence.

Determined to combat the ill feelings, the citizens attempted to ignore the feeling of dread... that was, until, ponies found out Fluttershy had disappeared around that time.

It has been two weeks since Fluttershy had left Ponyville. The note left behind had told her friends that she went off to visit family. It really wouldn't have been much of an issue on its own, but it mentioned that she would return in only a few days. Her friends rounded up a search party and attempted to look for her on their own, but turned up no clues.

Upon receiving a second letter addressed to him, Vergil, a half-breed son of a legendary demon from another universe, decided to attempt to look for her, alone. He vowed to protect her with all of his might and aimed to keep that promise, no matter the cost.

Twilight, asked by Princess Luna herself, was tasked to lead an expedition to a recently uncovered monument thought lost to Equestrian History: A castle in the north that was thought to be Sombra’s original home before his reign over the Crystal Empire. Twilight, together with the help of A.K. Yearling to assist her and a team of archeologists, they seek onward to uncover the castle’s secrets.

However, some shadows should be left alone, and the secrets within left unseen...

With the arrival of six monsters in the land of Equestria, the world begins its slow period of adjustment as they make themselves at home for the time being. Life in the land of harmony was already full of twists and turns underneath its saccharine surface, but their new inclusion is sure to create new precious moment that even they can’t ignore. Outlooks and perceptions will change, for better or worse, and the world will get to know these Dark Hearts just a bit more.

It’s a chilly fall day at Sweet Apple Acres, the crown jewel of Ponyville, and Applejack, the head farmpony of the lovely little orchard can’t wait to get started on her early morning prep work. The harvesting season is coming to an end, and the remaining apples and trees need to be tended to. There are only two issues that are putting her more on edge than normal:

The present, thick fog that was scheduled for the entire day, and the strange, moaning noises she heard last night.

Button Mash's life was torn asunder on a fateful night when his mother and his home were taken away from him by a group of thieves. After that horrible event, the poor child could hear a voice calling to him from a mysterious golden puzzle set hidden among his belongings, urging him to complete it. Upon completion of the puzzle, his whole world flips once again.

After being utterly humiliated yet again, this time at the behest of Twilight’s friends before an invading changeling army, Trixie Lulamoon, the professionally powerful magi of prestidigitation and illusions, now without the power of the Alicorn Amulet, turns to magic far darker than she could imagine. Upon finding an occultist’s book on ritualistic summoning, she intends on bringing forth a powerful creature from beyond the mortal realm to grant her desires. After months of translating the spell to the best of her prestigious abilities, and a few days worth of mental preparation, she begins the ritual to call forth her new benefactor: Belial.

A single mistake can alter ritual properties and parameters, however...
