Feathered Hearts C&C chapter 40 will launch tonight

I apologize for the long delay. The chapter draft was submitted to prereaders a month ago and well-received, but the graphics have taken me a while and several false starts. The main reason is I tried multiple methods to include unit icons in the maps of Aresia, but the end result always seems more cluttered than anything else. Here's an example:

    Without unit icons:

New Midnight Rising chapter off to prereaders...

At long last. This is the redo of the chapter I was forced to scrap in April and then about 80% rewrite. I saved a few select bits and pieces from the original version, but the rest went by the wayside.

Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

Announcing Change of Ownership for Turnabout Storm... · 8:54pm Jan 15th, 2018

To all Turnabout Storm readers:

As of today, the Turnabout Storm novelization belongs to me! RavenRegios has very graciously agreed to pass me ownership as she sadly no longer has time to attend to her stories or fimfiction account. :ajsleepy:

For those who are unaware, Raven first began the herculean task of writing the novelization in 2012, and I came on as editor in late 2013, fixing up earlier chapters and then taking over the writing duties from her starting with part 44. The first 43 chapters were written by Raven and then heavily edited/modified by me; afterwards it was almost entirely me with an occasional contribution from co-writer Leo Archon, who has assisted me on other works, and even The Voice™ of Phoenix Wright himself, aka TheGoldCrow, offered feedback and contributed a couple sections here and there.

It was a mark of Raven’s trust and friendship that she allowed me to take over the story and expand on it as I did, turning it from a simple retelling of the videos into the much more expanded version you see now. I’m very proud of this story; one I personally spent over two years on and Raven even longer. It was a labor of love for all of us; I daresay it consumed me for long stretches of time. And one that I am forever grateful Raven allowed me to indulge in. I enjoyed it greatly; possibly more than any piece of writing I’ve ever done.

That said, let it be known here and now that I am the one to credit or blame for all the added content; for all the various new scenes and subplots, including the Phoenix/Twilight ship. For those who are unaware, I already addressed the various controversies in the following blog posts:

  1. https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/475549/the-great-ship-sets-sail:
  2. https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/478470/an-apology-to-neoartimus
  3. https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/479968/the-turnabout-storm-novelization-revisited

All that, however, is in the past at this point. So what are my plans going forward? Well, first and foremost, Turnabout Storm is getting a fresh coat of paint in the form of a full editing pass and overhaul in places. Site updates several months ago broke the formatting schemes the story was using, resulting in a lot of color bleed, and Raven simply didn’t have time to go through and fix everything. So that’s up first. I am also going to go through chapter by chapter and make some content updates: find typos, fix any broken links, and make changes to a few things that are bugging me. Some of you will be happy to know that I plan to tone down the Frozen references and use a lighter touch on the shipping early. There is even a chance for some new content; an additional bonus chapter MAY be released on the occasion of the three-year anniversary of the main story’s completion in April. Leo and I are currently batting around ideas for that.

I have more to say, but this will do for now. Just wanted to let everyone know about the change in ownership, and that the story is going to undergo some updates soon. On behalf of Raven and myself, and indeed, on behalf of everyone who contributed to this story as prereader or writer including TheGoldCrow, Leo Archon and AJ_Aficionado, thanks for following, and thanks for all the comments that were left on the story. The most fun I had during this entire story was reading them and seeing all the enjoyment and discussion it provoked. I will let folks know as chapters update and in general terms the changes made.

An additional blog will be posted tomorrow detailing the status of the various side stories and still-planned sequel. Until then, take care, and thanks again, Raven!

Yikes, hunting through 400k+ words for broken formatting is a real task.

As Silentwoodfire says, I have the help of my full prereading team, whom I forever grateful for. I've also got Grammarly, which can pick up on and fix a lot of issues. it's not perfect, but it does nail most of the grammar and spelling mistakes.
