Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle go for a picnic. A short story for a mini contest.

Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle go for a picnic in the Whitetail Woods.

A short story for a mini contest whose rules were "1 sentence of dialogue, 500-1000 words" I'm kind of sad that this site doesn't let us publish stories with 500 words, but I understand.

title: Nighttime Meal (in Latin)

The bright sun rose at the quick, steady pace its course took it through until it became parallel with the moon. Pinkie Pie's eyes suddenly opened, her smile for the day put on, and she was ready to go! The pink mare quickly went through her morning routine, highly excited for this day, as this day was her chance to see Twilight for the first time since yesterday.

Pinkie bounded out the door and hopped down the flight of stairs. Up in the sky, the pink baker could see her friend Rainbow Dash snoozing on the one cloud in the sky. She called her greetings to the napping pegasus, and set off at a brisk trot to the librarian's treehouse.

Twilight Sparkle paced around the centerpiece of her wooden home. Pinkie told her that she needed to see her today for reasons unbeknownst to Twilight herself. The animosity of the meeting itself is weird, even to Pinkie's standards. Twilight had almost no way to prepare herself. Pinkie told her that this meeting will change her life. Twilight quickly realized that the get together was majorly important, but she was still left out of the loop, and the purple egghead stresses when she doesn't understand something.

A deep grove was carved around the centerpiece of the library before she heard a bang from upstairs. Was Rainbow Dash over to visit? Cautiously, Twilight Sparkle made her way up the stairs. Maybe Rainbow came over to borrow another Daring Do book! She liked those. Her fear melted away as she quickened her pace up the couple flights of stairs to greet her blue pegasus friend. Twilight pushed the door open, closed her eyes, and opened her mouth to tell Rainbow that she's closed.

Pinkie thrust her mouth against Twilight's as she kissed her with a ferocious passion. The stars of the night sky lit up their faces as she held the beautiful purple mare close to her, breathing in the essence of the eternal moment.

Twilight was in pure shock. She rapidly opened her eyes to see that Pinkie was kissing her, those soft, succulent lips were pressed against her own in the most genuine quality of pure love possible. The lavender mare's heart quickened, and her brain was cycling at a million miles. Twilight fainted to a crumpled mare on the library floor.

Pinkie breathed the heaviest sigh of relief she ever had, looked down, and giggled at the unconscious magical prodigy. Pinkie cuddled up against her side as she slept, vowing to mare up to whatever Twilight had to say when she woke, but for now, she snuggled with Twilight as they slept.

Twilight awoke very gradually. Why is she on the floor? She looked down at the pink hooves around her, and she remembered. She turned around the greet the baker, but alas, the pink fluffball warrior was asleep. Twilight Sparkle glanced at her resting eyes, and gently kissed her on the forehead as the uttered three words.

"I love you."

The Picnic

Pinkie Pie glanced contently out of the circular porthole in the train, and exhaled all of her worries out of her in a tranquil state. Her previous life was crazy, hectic, and amazingly fun. The pink mare turned around and smiled at the sleeping purple unicorn. Her purple unicorn. Twilight Sparkle, now known as the epitome of Pinkie's life laid sleeping in the carriage's cot. Everything Pinkie does is to spend time together with her soul mate.

Ever since the one faithful morning where they both confessed their want and longing for each other almost simultaneously, Pinkie has stuck by Twilight's side. They've had to overcome numerous obstacles throughout their relationship. Many a time, they were challenged by even their closest friends, but each and every time they put utter and complete patience into themselves and all around them, and they would always prevail stronger together than they were before.

Now as they sat together on the train, the unusually serene, bubbly pink baker reflected highly deeply into the direction of her perfect life. In her current prime age of life she has hundreds, if not thousands of memories to cherish, and still more to create. She plans to make the most of what she can.

The locomotive came to an abrupt stop. Pinkie Pie's smile quadrupled in size, threatening to stretch apart her cheeks until they were just long flabs. Pinkie excitedly nudged the lavender librarian until she woke.

Twilight glanced tiredly at her mare bouncing down the aisle with all of their one bag of luggage for their two week honeymoon, and labelled herself "The Luckiest Unicorn in Equestria". With a quick flash of sparkling magic, the protégé of Princess Celestia herself immediately was wide awake and ready for the day. She'd learned a few tricks over the endless nights of adventuring through countless books, as she lives in a library.

Twilight trotted through the aisle and caught up to Pinkie. They exited their private train and descended the stairs into the frontal forest canopy of the thinly veiled treeline. Some of the tree trunks were twisting around in a different, odd beauty. The pink bunched leaves gave the two a relief and a change of scenery from their normal life.

The couple trotted away at a brisk pace through the Whitetail Forest, stopping along the rusted scenic route they traveled to converse with the native deer and the occasional gazelle.

Finally, they reached their destination. As Twilight sat down, Pinkie set up their picnic. Picnic as in stacks of cupcakes. Upon seeing this holy revelation, the striped mane unicorn rolled her eyes and magicked a few of the strangely familiar pink and purple sweets next to her.

The pair talked the night away under the comfort of the setting sun and rising moon. Unconsciously, the two moved ever closer, until Pinkie laid her head on Twilight's shoulder. Twilight's heart fluttered in her chest. She looked down at the now sleeping mare and whispered,

"I love you."
