I hate Twilight Sparkle, I have ever since we were kids and I still hate her. You're probably wondering who I am and why I'm saying this, right? My name is Artemis Arrow and I'm the Stardust Phantom...or at least I was.
This story follows the Equestrian version of Artemis Arrow and boy is he different from the Artemis in Blazing Passion (Go check that out to see what I mean). His life has been one filled with both silent rage and jealousy and all of it is aimed directly at Twilight Sparkle. One day, Princess Luna decides to take on a student of her own, Artemis quickly catches her eye and she decides to take him under her wing.

Um...hi, you’re all probably wondering what the hell you all just saw and why these ponies are screaming for this guy to stop whatever it is he’s doing. Well all I can say is that it’s my fault and I’ll have to live with the guilt for the rest of my life. My name is Artemis Arrow and I am the Stardust Phantom

“Canterlot year 2006, this is the year it all began.”
Artemis Arrow was a young and confident Pegasus colt, he had a dark blue coat, a Silver mane and tail with light blue highlights, sky blue eyes and wearing a black scarf with blue flames on it. His cutie mark was a bow and arrow, but the bow was a crescent moon. He was currently flying through an obstacle course and being observed by the best flyer in all of Equestria, The Wonderbolts. Artemis was Currently being tested to see if he was good enough to get into the Cloudsdale Jr. Flight Academy.
“I have to say the colt has potential.” Spitfire said still observing.
“I agree he has not only speed, but he also has very good coordination.” Soarin said.
“The kid seems a little on the short side though and he seems a bit scrawny.” Fleetfoot said.
“Well I think we can fix that.” Spitfire said grabbing a bullhorn.
“Cadet Arrow, Front and center immediately.” She said into the bullhorn. Artemis stopped and flew down in front of Spitfire with a salute. “Yes ma’am, what do you need?” Artemis asked.
“At ease young colt, me and the other Wonderbolts have seen your potential and we have decided to enroll you at the Cloudsdale Jr. Flight Academy.” Spitfire said with a smile. Artemis widened his eyes, he wanted nothing more than to celebrate, but he managed to keep his composure.
“Thank you Ma’am, I promise I won’t let you down.” Artemis said saluting her again.
“You better not, you put in a hard day’s work, you can head on home. I want you here at 10:30 tomorrow morning, do I make myself clear?” Spitfire asked.
“Yes Ma’am.” With that Artemis flew off back to his house.
“Did you see how he almost lost it.” Fleetfoot chuckled.
“I bet you as soon as he gets home he’ll be jumping off the walls.” Soarin said.
“Well I say he deserves to.” Spitfire said smiling.
Artemis was flying through the air with a huge grin on his face.
“I can’t believe it I got accepted, this is the best day of my life I can’t wait to tell mom and dad they’re gonna freak.” Artemis said speeding up. Artemis arrived at his house and opened the door.
“Mom, dad I’m home.” Artemis said walking in and closing the door behind him. There was no answer so Artemis took a look around the house. when he got near the kitchen he started to hear voices.
“I can’t believe it, Velvet’s little filly, a student of the princess.” one of the voices said.
“That’s mom.” Artemis said walking into the kitchen to see his parents reading a letter.
“
Yea um I should have mentioned this earlier, but both of my parents are unicorns. You see my mother’s grandmother was a pegasus, so I must have inherited my wings from her. My mother’s name is Vesper Radiance, She has a light violet coat, a white mane and Violet eyes. My father’s name is Nightshade, He has a Dark blue coat like mine, but he also had a white mane like my mother and he had blue eyes

“Mom, dad guess what, I got into the Jr. Flight academy.” Artemis said with a smile.
“Yes that’s great Artemis, I still can’t believe it she’s so young, but she has that much potential.” Nightshade said. Artemis frowned, it’s like they didn’t even hear him.
“Mom, dad didn’t you hear me?” Artemis said.
“Oh Artemis glad you’re here guess what, your cousin Twilight Sparkle has been asked to be Princess Celestia’s personal student.” Vesper said smiling. Artemis widened his eyes.
“No way.” That was all Artemis thought after hearing that.
“I can tell you're shocked, so were we, I’m so proud of her.” Vesper said.
“As am I she really is something else.” Nightshade said with a smile. Artemis stood there in silence for a few seconds before speaking up.
“Well that’s great, I guess all that studying she did finally payed off.” Artemis said looking down.
“I know, isn’t it wonderful?” Vesper asked.
“Yea it i- wait a minute didn’t you hear what I said a few moments ago?” Artemis asked. Vesper and Nightshade both looked at each other and then back to Artemis.
“I’m sorry Artemis did you say something earlier?” Nightshade asked.
“I said I got into the Jr. Flight Academy and I’m leaving tomorrow, I literally just told you this 3 minutes ago.” Artemis said getting a bit mad.
“Oh I’m sorry bud I was just in shock, it’s not everyday a family member becomes the princess’s student.” Nightshade said. Artemis couldn’t argue with that, it is big news.
“Alright I understand, I’m going to go and start packing.” Artemis said walking out.
“Packing, Packing for what?” Vesper asked. Artemis stopped in his tracks.
“Did you not hear a word I just said?” Artemis asked getting angrier.
“Oh I’m sorry dear, I wasn’t paying attention.” Vesper said.
“You know what just forget it.” With that Artemis flew up into his room. Artemis didn’t waste any time, he got out a suitcase and began to pack.
“I shouldn’t be so mad, I would be happy for her too.” Artemis said closing his suitcase.
“Oh well it won’t really matter, I’ll be in Cloudsdale and the Flight academy tomorrow and nothing is going to change that.” Artemis said laying on his bed with a smile.

The following morning Artemis was waking up and it felt like he was flying, but there was only one problem he wasn’t flapping his wings. He then opens his eyes to see that he was in a royal chariot with his parents.
“Well good morning sleepyhead.” Vesper said ruffling Artemis’s mane.
“Mom, what’s going on, why are we on a chariot?” Artemis asked confused.
“We’re going to your aunt and uncle’s house to congratulate Twilight on becoming the Princesses student. You were sleeping so soundly that we didn’t want to wake you and that alarm clock of yours didn’t help.” Vesper said. Artemis’s eyes widened.
“No no no, I shouldn’t be here right now I have to meet Spitfire, I’m going away remember?” Artemis asked. Vesper and Nightshade both looked at each other.
“What are you talking about bud?” Nightshade asked.
“Are you serious, neither of you were listening to me, I got accepted to the Cloudsdale Jr. Flight Academy and if I don’t meet Spitfire and the rest of the Wonderbolts I won’t be able to get in. Wait, What time is it?” Artemis asked. Vesper and Nightshade both looked at each other with a guilt in their eyes.
“It’s 10:50.” Vesper said looking down. Artemis could only stare at his parents.
“I..I..I’m too late.” Artemis said looking down.
“Oh honey, we’re so sorry.” Vesper said hugging him. Artemis didn’t say anything.
“Come on bud, it’s not the end of the world.” Nightshade said. Artemis twitched after hearing that and was about to say something, but he held his tongue knowing he would probably get slapped if he did say what he wanted to say.
“y..Yea...y..you're right I’m just overreacting.” Artemis said putting on a fake smile.
“See what did I tell you, we’re almost there and we don’t want everypony to see you all sad, do we?” Nightshade asked.
“No.” Was all Artemis said before turning away from his parents. “Well there goes my dream of being in the Jr. Flight Academy. I can’t believe they didn’t listen to me, ok calm down I can just try again….next year.” Artemis thought to himself.
Canterlot Castle
“We’re here.” Nightshade said with a smile.
“I can't believe we're actually at the princess’s castle” Vesper said getting excited. Artemis looked up the castle.
“Well maybe missing out on the tryouts wasn’t a total loss. I get to see the inside of Canterlot Castle, that’s something at least.” Artemis thought to himself.
“Come on Arrow, the guards are going to escort us to the throne room.” Vesper said. Arrow nodded and walked over to his parents.
“Time to see the family genius again, to think she’d actually be the princess’s personal student. I have to admit that’s pretty awesome, I’m almost jealous of her….almost.” Artemis thought he followed his parents and the guards.
“Oh I was Jealous alright, I was just too young to know it at the time”
Artemis and his parents entered the throne room only to see Night Light and Twilight Velvet standing next to a window.
“Night Light!” Vesper said as she Nightshade and Artemis started walking over to them.
“Vesper, how are you little sister?” NIght Light said giving his sister a hug.
“I’m doing great and your self?” Vesper asked.
“I’m fine, Hey there Nightshade.” Night Light greeted.
“Hi, nice to see you both again.” Nightshade said.
“You as well, now where’s my nephew?” Velvet asked.
“Right here Aunt Velvet.” Artemis said smiling at his aunt. Velvet then walked over to Artemis and gave him a hug.
“Aww, how’s my little nephew doing?” Velvet said.
“I’m not a baby anymore and I’m doing fine thank you.” Artemis said hugging her back.
“That’s good, how did you make out in the flight academy tryouts. I wanna hear all about it, to think not one but two kids in the family getting the opportunity of the lifetime.” Velvet said in excitement. Artemis looked at his Aunt in shock.
“You remembered?” He said quietly.
“Of course I remembered silly, now when do you head off to the flight academy?” She asked.
“About an hour ago.” Artemis said looking down. Velvet looked at him in shock.
“What, why didn’t you go?” She asked. Nightshade and Vesper both looked away in shame causing Night Light and Velvet to raise an eyebrow.
“Well I was all packed up to leave this morning, but Mom and Dad put me on the chariot to the castle while I was sleeping.” Artemis said. Velvet and Night Light’s eyes widened.
“Vesper, how could-” “Don’t be mad at them, they just wanted to congratulate Twilight on becoming the Princess’s student. Besides...I can always try again next year.” Artemis said with a smile.
“All I could do was put on that fake meaningless smile for my aunt, I wanted to speak up, but I just couldn’t.”
Night Light then walked up to Artemis. “Oh no you worked too hard for this, after this meeting with the Princess is over we’re taking you straight to the junior flight academy. I have an old friend there who might be able to pull some strings for you.” He said with a smile. Artemis’s face genuinely lit up.
“Are you serious!?” Artemis said in excitement.
“Very serious, you’re going the the flight academy kiddo.” Night Light said ruffling Artemis’s mane.
“YES, THANK YOU!” Artemis said hugging his uncle.
“No problem kiddo.” Night Light said. Velvet smiled as did Artemis’s parents.
“I love Aunt Velvet and Uncle Light, they were always so kind and caring towards me.”
After a few minutes passed, the doors to the throne room opened and revealed Princess Celestia with Twilight Sparkle right next to her. Artemis, his parents, Velvet and Night Light all bowed to the Princess as she entered.
“Rise my little ponies, there is no need to bow to me today. For today is Twilight Sparkle’s first day as my student.” Celestia said smiling at the young filly. Twilight blushed in embarrassment, but smiled back at her teacher.
“I can’t believe it our daughter being given such an honor.” Velvet said with tears in her eyes.
“I know it’s amazing Night Light said. Vesper and Nightshade also had tears in their eyes while Artemis just rolled his eyes and walked over to one of the stain glass windows. Celestia then looked to Artemis’s parents.
“May I ask who you all are?” She asked. Night Light spoke up.
“Of course your highness, this is my little sister Vesper Radiance and her husband Nightshade” He said.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you your highness and thank you for giving our niece this chance the learn from you.” Vesper said with a smile.
“Yes, thank you.” Nightshade said. Before Celestia could say anything, she took notice at the young Pegasus colt looking at one of the stain glass windows.
“Wow she's beautiful.” Artemis said looking at the window in awe. The window had a picture of a alicorn with a dark blue coat like his, a flowing blue mane and a black tiara on her head.
“I see you’ve taken a liking to this window.” Artemis turned to see Celestia walking up to him.
“Who is she?” Artemis asked looking back to the window.
“Her name is Luna, she was a beautiful mare with the power of the moon and the stars bringing young fillies and colts sweet dreams every night.” Celestia said looking at the with a melancholic smile.
“I’ve read that she disappeared about a thousand years and no pony has heard from her since. What ever happened to her?” Twilight asked walking up to Artemis and Celestia. Celestia looked down and sighed.
“Well-” “Princess you don’t have to tell us.” Artemis said cutting Celestia off.
“Why not, I wanna know.” Twilight said with a pout. Artemis rolled his eyes again.
“Because it might be a personal matter Sparky.” He said with a small glare.
“I told you not to call me that.” Twilight said.
“Oh I’m sorry...Sparky.” Artemis said with a smirk. Twilight glared at her cousin. Velvet, Night Light, Nightshade and Vesper just looked on and sighed.
“Not again.” Vesper said shaking her head.
“It’s always something with these two.” Velvet said.
“You’d think those two would learn to get along by now.” NIght Light said.
“I know.” Nightshade said. Celestia could tell by the parents comments that this was a regular thing and decided to put a stop to it.
“Alright my little ponies, that’s enough. You both are family, you have to start acting like it.” She then turned to Artemis.
“Young colt, would you mind telling me your name?” Celestia asked.
“Artemis Arrow, your highness.” Artemis said with a slight bow. Celestia smiled at the young colt.
“That’s a nice name ‘Artemis’, do you know the meaning behind that name?” Celestia asked.
“Artemis the Huntress of the Moon. She was the protector of nature, she was strong, fast and a very skilled archer.” Artemis said.
“Correct, she was and I should know. She was a very close friend of mine.” Celestia said with a smile. Artemis looked at her with wide eyes.
“Really?” He asked.
“Yes and it seems that you’ve read up on her.” Celestia said.
“Yea well, I wanted to know why my parents gave me a girl’s name.” Artemis said looking to his parents.
“It was Vesper’s idea.” Nightshade said.
“Oh thanks a lot.” Vesper said. Night Light, Velvet, Twilight and Celestia all began to laugh while Artemis just shook his head.
“I don’t mind it, I like my name and I’m grateful for it.” Artemis said with a smile. Vesper and Nightshade smiled back at him.
“You have a very special colt, i can tell he has a bright future ahead of him.” Celestia said smiling at Arrow’s parents.
“Thank you Princess.” Vesper said.
“Now if you all will follow me, we can have lunch and talk about my new student's future.” Celestia said walking towards the throne room door. Everypony nodded and followed the princess, but Artemis took one last look at Princess Luna’s window.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn't curious, what happened to you Princess Luna? You seem really cool to me, I wish I could meet you someday.” Artemis thought as he walked away from the picture. As he did though, the picture of Princess Luna began to glow and a small causing Artemis to turn back to the picture.
“Whoa.” He said walking up to the picture once again. He then stared at the picture for a few seconds before he started to hear a voice in his head.
“You'll meet me sooner than you think my young colt.” The voice said.
“W..who said that?” Artemis said looking around the room.
“Up here my little pegasus.” The voice said. Artemis looked back yo the picture.
“It was you?” He asked.
“Yes young one, I am Princess Luna or at least what’s left of her at this very moment.” The Princess said.
“You’re Princess Luna..wait what do you mean what's left?” Artemis asked.
“A thousand years ago, something happened to me and it's my fault that it happened. I can’t go into detail right now, but I need your help little one.” The princess said. Artemis's eyes widened.
“My help, what can I do? I'm just a kid.” Artemis said.
“When the time comes you'll understand, but for now take this and keep it with you at all times.” As soon a the princess said that a small necklace with a light blue crystal on it appeared out of the picture and in front of Artemis.
Artemis stared at the necklace in awe. “What is it?” He asked.
“This is known as the ‘Pendulum of Souls’. It's an ancient treasure that is said to have mysterious powers and I want you to hold on to it.” The princess said as the necklace wrapped around Artemis’s neck.
“Why me, I sure there's somepony else who can take this.” Artemis said.
“Remember What my sister said about you, you have a bright future ahead of you and you...can..” The princess’s voice began to fade and the picture began to dim.
“Princess Luna?” Artemis asked in a worried tone.
“My time is….up..please keep that necklace safe...we'll meet again soon...my little pegasus.” The princess’s voice was now gone and the light from the picture was gone. Artemis looked down at the necklace and stared at it for a few seconds.
“Did that just happen?” He thought to himself.
“Artemis, what are you doing?” Artemis turned to see his mother standing at the throne room entrance.
“Um, I..I was just looking at the picture mom.” Artemis said with a small smile.
“Well come on, we don’t want to fall behind.” Vesper said.
“Uh yeah.” Artemis said walking over to his mother.
“On that day, the wheels of Destiny were in motion and I wasn’t ready for it.”
“Ever since I was given the Pendulum of Souls, I expected a lot of weird things to start happening around me. But for four years, nothing out of the ordinary happened to me and I slowly started to forget the day I spoke to Princess Luna. During those four years, I was training at the Junior Flight Academy and I was enjoying every moment of it. I thought it was smooth sailing for me from then on….of course I was wrong.”
Classes had just let out at the Junior Flight Academy and Artemis was walking through the academy halls heading for the training grounds. This was his last week at the academy before his final exam and his graduation, so he used whatever free time he had and used it to train.
“Alright, 2 hours of physical and the rest of the day I study for the written exam.” Artemis said to himself with a smile.
“Don't you ever take a break Arrow?” Artemis turned to see his friend Cloudchaser and her twin sister Flitter flying over to him.
“Not when it come to finals, i have to make sure I pass both the flight and written exams.” Artemis said.
“Oh stop worrying about that silly exam. You, me and Flitter have all worked our flanks off the past 4 years, we'll be just fine.” Cloudchaser said with a confident smile.
“There’s such a thing as overconfidence Sis.” Flitter said to her sister.
“Whatever, the point is you should take a break and come to the senior bonfire with us tomorrow.” Cloudchaser said
“She is right Artemis, we'd love it if you'd come with us.” Flitter said. Artemis wasn't as anti-social as his cousin Twilight, but he kinda felt out of place a gatherings like this.
“I think I'll-” Cloudchaser immediately puts a hoof in Arrow’s facing cutting him off mid sentence.
“Oh no, I'm stopping you right there. You're not passing this time, you ditch us on every party or event we go to. Well not this time mister.” Cloudchaser said in a stern tone.
“I agree Artemis, you deserve to have some fun and who knows you might actually enjoy yourself.” Flitter said putting a hoof on Artemis’s shoulder.
“Also I hear the pink haired pegasus you like is going to be there, what's her name...Butterfly?” Cloudchaser asked with a smirk. Artemis's eyes quickly widened.
“F..f...f..Fluttershy's going to be there?” He stuttered.
“That’s her name, yeah I heard Rainbow Dash got her to go and I hear she doesn’t have a date.” Cloudchaser said still smirking.
"If it wasn’t obvious, I had and major crush of this Pegasus named Fluttershy she was a very timid girl, but to me that was one of her cute points. She had a pale gold coat, a pale rose mane, and she had the most beautiful cyan eyes. I never really talked to her much though because of her friend Rainbow Dash, she was very protective her and will literally shove anyone aside who she thinks will hurt Fluttershy.”
Artemis thought about this for a few seconds. “Well….maybe I’ll stop by for a few minutes.” He said looking away a bit. Flitter and Cloudchaser both smiled.
“Awesome and since we don’t got class tomorrow, we’ll all meet tomorrow morning to talk about plans for the bonfire.” Flitter said.
“You got it.” Artemis said with a smile. With that the twin Pegasi both flew off and Artemis continued walking to the training grounds.
“Well, I guess it won’t be so bad and this way I might actually get to talk with Fluttershy.”
Timeskip, Location: Artemis’s dorm.
Artemis was sitting at a small desk studying for his written exam. “Ok so After the Banishment an evil Mare known as Nightmare Moon, the Protective Pony Platoon were formed and on the first celestial year of peace a celebration was held by a Pegasus named General Firefly. He then chose an elite group of Aerial Performers to commemorate the grand occasion.” Artemis said writing what he said in his notebook.
“Alright I think I’m done for the night.” He said closing his books and putting them in his bag. “Ok time to go over my checklist one last time.” Artemis said pulling out a scroll from his desk drawer.
“Physical training for flight exam. Check. Study for written exam. Check. Send invitations to Mom and Dad for the Graduation Ceremony. Check. Ok I think I’m all good.” He said putting the scroll away. “That’s that, time for bed.” Artemis said before flying over to his bed. He then closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Artemis opened his eyes to find himself in front of a large castle, but it was in ruins.
“What in Luna’s name is this place?” Artemis asked himself. He didn’t know why, but something was telling him to go inside the castle and he did just that. He walked through the castle looking at all the ruined banners, statues and dead plants.
“Wow this place has seen better days.” Just then he heard a scream at the end of the hallway. “What the!” Artemis then spread out his wings and flew to the end of the hallway to see six ponies huddled together and in front of them were what looked like two unicorns but their manes were made of bright blue flames.
“HAHAHAHAHAHA! You little foals really thought you could defeat me, well now you all will pay for your insolence!” Artemis looked behind the two flaming unicorns to see a taller pony behind them, She was covered in shadows though so Artemis couldn’t see her face only her Dragon-like eyes.
“Who is that, No, better question, What the heck is going on?” He asked himself. Just then the dark pony raised a hoof and began to speak once again. “I Overlay my two Lvl 4 Shadow Veils to build the Overlay Network!” Once she said that the two flaming unicorns transformed into purple lights and flew into the air just as what looked like a black hole appeared in front of the dark pony.
Oh Fangs of pitch black Darkness, Rise up against Foolish Oppression and Descend before my enemies NOW! XYZ Summon!
Just then, a huge dragon-like creature began rising from the black hole and it let out a fierce…
ROAR!!!
Artemis Covered his ears, but kept his eyes on the events that were unfolding. “What is that thing?” He asked with fear in his voice.

The Dragon was revealed, but just like the dark pony it was also covered in shadow except for its piercing yellow eyes.
Artemis felt as if he was in a nightmare, but this felt all too real to be just a dream. The six Ponies in front of the dragon began to scream for help, but the Dark pony just laughed.
“No one’s coming to save you little ponies, Dark Rebellion, obliterate them!” She Commanded. The dark dragon soon gained a purple aura and charged the six ponies. “Rebellious Lightning Disobey!” The Dark Pony yelled as the dragon neared the six ponies. Artemis could only watch in horror as the Dragon attacked the six ponies.
“I can’t let this happen.” He said before spreading his wings and flying over to help the six ponies, but as he did the Pendulum of Souls began to glow and the six ponies, The dark pony and the dragon were gone. “What? Where did-” Artemis didn’t get to finish his sentence as the entire room went black and only his pendulum was glowing. Artemis looked at the Pendulum and took it into his left hoof.
“I haven’t seen this thing glow since the first day I got it.” Artemis said.
“That’s because nothing’s happened to warrant it.” Artemis’s eyes widened as he looked behind him to see Princess Luna, but she looked like a ghost.
“Princess Luna?” Artemis asked.
“Yes young one, it’s me.” The Moon Princess said with a smile. Artemis stared for a minute before bowing down to the princess.
“Rise up Artemis, there is no need for you to bow in my presence.” Artemis picked his head up and met the Princess’s gaze once more.
“Princess, what’s going on? Where am I and what did I just watch!?” He asked in a slightly frantic tone. The moon Princess just chuckled.
“Calm down young one, I’ll explain everything.” She said. Artemis took a deep breath and nodded. “Alright first things first Artemis, what you just saw was a premonition of what’s to come.” Luna explained. Artemis raised an eyebrow.
“Wait what?” He asked in a confused tone.
“I can’t tell you when or where right now, but the events you just saw are destined to happen and you’ll have a big part to play when they happen.” Luna said. Artemis took in every word and his confusion turned into fear.
“What do you mean I’ll play a big part in all of that, if you haven’t noticed I’m just a normal pegasus.” Artemis said. Luna saw the fear in the young pegasus’s eyes.
“I know you’re scared young one, but let me tell you something. You are no normal Pegasus, I wouldn’t have chosen you to hold on to that Pendulum if you were.” Luna said with a smile. The princess’s words made Artemis feel slightly better, but he still had doubts.
“Why not give it to my cousin? She’s the family prodigy.” Artemis said looking down. Luna heard a hint of jealousy in Artemis’s voice.
“Twilight Sparkle may be magically gifted, but she lacks the potential and the mindset for the danger that is coming.” Luna explained.
“And you think I have those things?” Artemis asked.
“I don’t just think, I know.” The moon Princess said ruffling Artemis’s mane. Artemis smiled and the Princess continued.
“Listen Artemis, that premonition was just a warning and it's telling you to prepare yourself.” Luna said in a somber tone.
“Prepare for what?” Artemis asked. Luna sighed.
“Remember when I said the Pendulum was an ancient treasure with mysterious power?” She asked. Artemis just responded with a small nod.
“Well, with something that valuable around your neck, there are going to be ponies that will try and take if from you.” Luna explained. Artemis tesned up a bit but continued to listen. “And one of those ponies seeking the pendulum are in closing in on you as we speak.” Luna said in a serious tone. The young Pegasus’s eyes widened at the Princess’s words.
“Then why am I still here talking, I should be getting away from here right?” He asked in a scared tone.
“It won’t do you any good I’m afraid. That pendulum puts off a powerful magical signature whenever it glows, so running would be pointless.” Luna explained.
“Then what am I supposed to-” Before Artemis could finish his sentence the Pendulum began to glow once again and a blue beam of light shot into the air. Luna smiled at this development.
“Good, everything is ready for you to face whoever is after you.” She said. Artemis looked at her like she has lost it.
“What are you talking about Princess and what was with that light?” He asked. Luna chuckled a bit.
“All will be clear once you wake up young one, now go back to the waking world and watch your back.” Luna said ruffling Artemis’s mane again.
“But I-” “Oh and one more thing young one. Despite the danger, you should enjoy life as much as you can and enjoy it with the ponies around you.” With that the Moon Princess faded from sight.
“Wait, Princess Luna!” Artemis yelled before a blinding flash of light overtook him. “AHHH!” Artemis yelled as shielding his eyes.
Location: Artemis’s Dorm Room
“AHHH!” Artemis screamed as he woke up from his dream. He then began breathing deeply and looking around the room. “What….what was all that?” He asked himself. The pegasus looked to his dresser and saw the Pendulum next to a weird device.
Artemis flew over to his dresser and picked up the strange device. “What is this thing?” He asked himself.
“Was this what came from that light in my dream?” He thought. Artemis was even more confused when he saw that there was a deck of cards inside the device.
“Cards?” He asked before pulling the cards out of the device. Upon looking through them, the cards had animals that looked like they were part of a circus on them. “Entermate Whip Viper? Entermate Block Spider? Entermate Discover Hippo? What is with these weird names?” Artemis continued looking through the cards until he saw one that made him feel...uneasy. It was a red dragon with two different coloured eyes, a blue crystal one it’s chest and what really caught Artemis’s eye was that the dragon was classified as a ‘Pendulum’ monster.
“Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon? I guess this one is pretty cool, it’s different from the others and it may have something to do with the Pendulum.” He said before moving on to the next card. “Astromancy Magician and Chronomancy Magician, these are Pendulum monsters too I wonder if-”
Knock! Knock!
Artemis jumped a bit and dropped his cards on the floor. “Arrow, you awake buddy?” Artemis knew that voice anywhere.
“Door’s Open!” He said before starting to pick up the cards. The door opens to reveal Cloudchaser and Flitter.
“Sup buddy.” Cloudchaser said walking in.
“Sleep well.” Flitter said walking behind.
“Not really, weird dream.” Artemis said. Cloudchaser and Flitter both flew over to him and saw him picking up a bunch of weird cards.
“What are these, new card game or something?” Cloudchaser asked as she and Flitter began picking up the cards.
“To tell you the truth, I’m not sure.” Artemis answered. Flitter picked up a few of the cards and raised an eyebrow.
“Entermate Drumming Kong, Pendulum Reborn, Lightning Vortex? Artemis, what are these?” She asked in confusion.
“I told you I’m not sure myself, these card were on my dresser when I woke up.” Artemis explained. Cloudchaser and Flitter both looked at him in confusion.
“What do you mean?” Flitter asked. Artemis was about to answer, but thought about how he was going to explain this.
“Well they are my best friends, I guess I could tell them. Worst case scenario, they think I just had an insane dream.” He thought before looking at the twins. “Ok I’m about to tell you both something insane and no matter what are you to tell anypony else, can you both do that?” Artemis asked in a serious tone. Cloudchaser and Flitter both looked at each other before answering.
“Um… sure pal, but why?” Cloudchaser asked.
“Just promise me, please.” Artemis pleaded. Cloudchaser was about to ask the same question, but Flitter put a hoof on her muzzle and spoke up.
“We promise, now what's going on?” She asked. Artemis saw that Flitter was honest and he took a deep breath.
“Ok so, you know this necklace i wear everyday?” Artemis asked holding up the Pendulum. The twins nodded. “Well you see…” Artemis then began telling his friends about the day he got the Pendulum and about the dream he had. He even told them about the the pony or ponies that are after him. To say Cloudchaser and Flitter were both shocked was an understatement, to Artemis they were staring at him af if he had lost it.
“I knew they’d think I was insane.” Artemis thought looking down. It took a few seconds, but one of the twins finally spoke up.
“Ok one question?” Cloudchaser said in a calm tone.
“Just one?” Artemis asked back.
“Yes, how long before this mystery pony attacks you?” Cloudchaser asked in a serious tone. Artemis looked up and stared at the twins.
“Wait, you two believe me?” He said in shock.
“Well as crazy as your story is Arrow, If it is true we can’t just let you get hurt.” Flitter said with a smile.
“She’s right pal, even if you’ve lost it we got your back.” Cloudchaser said snickering. Artemis just rolled his eyes, but he smiled.
“Thanks I guess and to answer your question I’m not sure when this pony is suppose to attack me. The princess said that is could be at anytime.” Artemis explained.
“If that’s the case then we have to watch you back until they make a move.” Cloudchaser said with determination in her voice.
“That’s right, we’re here for you Arty.” Flitter said. Artemis had no words, he had just told them the most insane story ever and they still believed him.
“Do you guys really mean that?” He asked. Cloudchaser then put her arm around him.
“Duh! We’ve been through enough together at the academy to abandon you now.” She said.
“She’s right Arrow and besides if you can put up with my sister craziness for four years then it must mean something.” Flitter said with a smirk.
“HEY!” Cloudchaser said angrily. Flitter began laughing at her sister and before long Artemis joined in.
“You both are crazy.” He said.
“HEY!” The twins yelled.
“But I could ask for two better friends.” Artemis said smiling at the twins. The twins smiled back at him and they all began laughing.
Timeskip
“Finally one last chance the party before final exams, isn’t it great?” Flitter asked with a smile. She along with Artemis and Cloudchaser were making their way to the academy courtyard for their senior bonfire. Cloudchaser nodded while Artemis shrugged. Flitter giggled before her eyes caught a small glimpse of the device that was on Artemis’s dresser.
“Are you sure it’s ok to bring that thing with you?” She asked looking at Artemis bag.
“Yes Flit I am. I may not know what it is, but the princess said that it could help me with what's about to happen.” Artemis explained.
“If you say so.” Cloudchaser said still looking through the deck of cards.
“How long are you going to keep looking at them Cloud?” Artemis asked.
“As long as I want. The cards maybe weird, but they look cool to me. Especially this dragon with the different colored eyes.” Cloudchaser said showing off Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
“I said the same thing when I saw him.” Artemis said with a smile.
“I like the pink hippo, it’s so cute!” Flitter gushed.
“Oh course you would like that pink blimp.” Cloudchaser said with a chuckle.
“That blimp must be important if it’s part of deck, so I wouldn’t bash it Cloud.” Artemis said.
“Whatever.” She said rolling her eyes.
“Just be careful you-” “Chill buddy, I’ll take care of your little cards.” Cloudchaser said cutting. Artemis rolled his eyes, but he smiled.
“So tell us, what’s Princess Luna like?” Flitter asked curiously.
“Well….she’s very motherly and she’s very kind.” Artemis said with a small smile.
“She sounds like Princess Celestia.” Flitter pointed out.
“Well, they are sisters, so it would only make sense that they act alike.” Cloudchaser said.
“That can’t be right because the two of you don’t act anything alike. One’s kind, but has a smart mouth, while the other is rough and rowdy.” Artemis said with a smirk. Cloudchaser and Flitter both glared at Artemis before hitting him over the head.
“OW!” Artemis yelled in pain.
“We actually do have one thing in common.” Flitter said with a smile.
“Yea, we don’t tolerate ponies with smart mouths.” Cloudchaser said smiling with her sister. Artemis rubbed his head and began to pout.
“You girls are no fun.” He said. The twins then began to laugh.
“Yes we are, you wouldn’t put up with us if we weren’t.” Cloudchaser said. Artemis continued to pout, but he knew she was right. Artemis had always loved hanging out with the twins, they made him feel like he actually belonged somewhere.
“Aw stop your pouting and let’s get a move on. I’m not missing that bonfire.” Cloudchaser said before flying off.
“You better not drop my cards Cloud!” Artemis said taking off after her. Flitter giggled and followed behind.
Location: Academy Courtyard.
The trio arrived at the Courtyard and saw a bunch of Pegasi still getting things ready for the bonfire. There were snack stands and a few game booths scattered about.
“This is amazing.” Flitter said looking around.
“I know, I still can’t believe after this it’s final exams and then graduation.” Artemis said slightly Melancholic tone. He them felt a pair of arms wrap around him.
“Come on Arty, you act as if after graduation we’ll never see each other again.” Flitter said smiling.
“She’s right pal, just because you live in canterlot doesn’t mean we won’t come visit you.” Cloudchaser said also smiling.
“You two are are right, i’m just-uh…” Artemis stopped mid sentence and stared off in the distance.
“Arty, you ok?” Flitter asked as she waved her hoof in front of Artemis's face. Cloudchaser then looked to where and saw a certain pink haired pegasus walking with Rainbow Dash.
“Oh I see what’s wrong.” She said with a smirk. Flitter raised an eyebrow and turned to see Fluttershy as well.
“Ah, that explains it.” Flitter said giggling. Artemis continued to stare until Fluttershy turned her head to him and that caused him to hide behind Flitter. “Aww, that’s so cute.” Flitter said.
“Dude, why don’t you just go and talk to her?” Cloudchaser asked. Artemis peeked from behind flitter and saw that Fluttershy had gained a good distance from him and the twins.
“I can’t….she’s...she’s-” “Cute, pretty, caring, all of the above.” Flitter said cutting Artemis off.
“She’s all those things, but she’s also really timid. She probably won’t even let me anywhere near her.” Artemis said looking down.
“Come on buddy, if she can have somepony like Rainbow Dash around her, she’ll definitely accept you.” Cloudchaser assured.
“That brings me to the other problem, Rainbow Dash. You know how protective she is of Fluttershy, I don’t want her thinking I’m going to hurt fer or anything like that.” Artemis explained.
“Oh really, then we’re going to have to make sure that doesn’t happen.” Cloudchaser said with a big smile on her face.
“What do you-” Be Artemis could finish talking Flitter grabbed him and made sure he couldn’t fly away.
“Go on Sis.” She said.
“Right! Hey Rainbow, Come here for a sec and bring your friend!” Cloudchaser called out to the cyan pegasus. Rainbow looked over and saw Cloudchaser waving to her.
“Sure give me a sec.” She said before turning to Fluttershy. Artemis's eyes widened and he tried to free himself from Flitters’ grip.
“Flitter let me go, I mean it.” He said.
“Sorry pal, can’t do that.” She said keeping him still.
“We’re trying to help you Arrow, if you don’t talk to her you won’t get anywhere.” Cloudchaser said. Artemis continued to struggle, but Flitters’ grip was too tight to break out of. Cloudchaser then saw Rainbow and Fluttershy fly over and she smiled.
“Ok Moment of truth time, here she comes Arrow.” She said with a smile. Artemis looked forward and saw the two mares flying over to him.
“Oh sweet Celestia help me.” He thought as his entire body began to freeze up. Rainbow and Fluttershy landed in front of the trio.
“Sup Cloud!” Rainbow said before high-hoofing Cloudchaser.
“Nothing much, I just wanted to introduce you to a friend of me and my sisters.” Cloudchaser said gesturing to Artemis. Artemis who had finally been released by Flitters’ death grip chose not to make eye contact with Rainbow.
“Hey, I’ve seen you around before. Isn’t this the guy and and Flitter keep talking about Cloud?” Rainbow asked.
“That’s right, this is Mr. Anti-social himself.” Cloudchaser said. Artemis really wanted to speak out against that, but he didn’t want to make a bad first impression.
“He’s not Anti-social sis, he’s just a bit shy around people.” Flitter said coming to Artemis’s aid.
“Whatever.” Cloudchaser said before looking over to Artemis. “Well are you going to introduce yourself to them or are you going to sick the nickname I just gave you?” She asked with a smirk.
Artemis knew he was going to give the twins and earful later, but right now he had to play along. “Um….my name’s Artemis Arrow, it’s nice to...meet you both.” He stuttered. Fluttershy heard his name and she looked at him with slight interest. Rainbow on the other hand raised an eyebrow at the boy's name, but she quickly laughed it off.
“You’re right Cloud, he is shy. Guess you got some Competition in that department, Eh Flutters?” She asked the pink haired pegasus.
“Um...I’m not sure if it’s a contest.” Fluttershy said looking down. Rainbow just shrugged and looked back to Artemis.
“Well, nice to meet ya Artemis...weird that sounds like a girl name.” She said.
“That’s because it is.” Flitter said much to Artemis’s embarrassment.
“Are you serious? HAHAHAHAHAHA! That’s rich.” Rainbow said falling on her side. Artemis’s face was now a deep red and he felt like flying away.
“Rainbow Dash, don’t be so rude.” Artemis looked up to see Fluttershy with a stern look on her face.
“You shouldn’t be laughing at him because of his name, you of all people should know all too well how hurtful it is.” She said in a serious tone. Artemis’s eyes widened, was this the same Fluttershy he’d been crushing on.
“Ok ok, Sorry Artemis.” Rainbow said standing back up.
“Hey don’t feel too bad Dash, me and Flitter did the same thing.” Cloudchaser said with a chuckle. Flitter also chuckled.
“Yea it is kind of funny.” She said. Before Artemis could speak up, Fluttershy came to his defense once again.
“Well I think he has a nice name.” She then turned to him. “And you should be happy that it’s yours.” Fluttershy said smiling at Artemis. Artemis blushed a bit and he smiled a bit.
“Um thanks and I am happy with it.” He said.
“You’re welcome.” She said. Flitter and Cloudchaser both giggle seeing Artemis all flustered. “Oh...I... I never did introduce myself, I’m Fluttershy.” She said still smiling.
“Nice to...meet you to Fluttershy.” Artemis Stuttered. “Ok ok, enough with the introductions, I say we all hit some of the game booths. Who’s with me?” Rainbow said.
“We’re in!” The Twins said putting their hooves in the air.
“Whatever you say Dashie.” Fluttershy said before looking at Artemis.
“Um...you wanna come along?” She asked. Artemis was taken aback a bit by the question.
“Well...I….I’m not sure… I think I’ll pass.” He said looking away. Fluttershy visibly looked hurt by Artemis's answer, but before she could ask why, Cloudchaser spoke up.
“Oh no you don’t, you promised you wouldn’t bail on us this time.” She said in a stern tone.
“She’s right Arrow you did promise, you can’t leave before the fun has even started.” Flitter said. Artemis then felt a pang of guilt,he did promise he would hang out with them. He then turned to Fluttershy who had a slightly sad look on her face and Rainbow Dash who a a look of disappointment on hers.
“Sorry, but-” Just then he thought back to what Princess Luna said to him.
“You should enjoy life as much as you can and enjoy it with the ponies around you”
Her words echoed through his head for a few seconds before a smile spread across his face.
“You know what, I did promise you two and I can’t go back on that.” He said in a cheery tone.
“That’s the Arrow we know.” Cloudchaser cheered.
“You got that right.” Flitter said. Artemis then turned to Fluttershy and Rainbow who were smiling at him.
“Well what are we waiting for, race you guys to the the hayburger stand!” Rainbow said before taking off.
“Oh you’re so on!” Cloudchaser said taking off after Rainbow Dash.
“Wait for me!” Flitter said. Artemis and Fluttershy looked on at their resective friends and chuckled.
“Crazy, all of them.” Artemis said.
“Yes, but that’s why we love them.” Fluttershy said. “Yeah, you’re right. So shall we go?” Artemis said spreading his wings. Fluttershy nodded and two began flying off toward their friends.
“Maybe today won’t be so bad after all.”
“Oh was I wrong, I was so wrong.”
Off in the distance, a pony was watching Artemis through a pair of binoculars and he was smiling. “I finally found it.”
“I bet I can eat more than you!” Rainbow said challenging Cloudchaser to a eating contest.
“You’re on Skittles.” Cloudchaser said. The two pegasi both began eating their Hayburgers while Artemis, Fluttershy and Flitter watched.
“If anyone asks, me and her are not related.” Flitter said shaking her head at her sister.
“As long as you all say I don’t know her.” Artemis said looking away. Fluttershy didn’t comment, but she was also disgusted by the sight of Cloudchaser and Rainbow’s contest.
“You guys are such wimps.” Cloudchaser said before putting another burger in her mouth.
“Seriously, this is a time for fun.” Rainbow said.
“If this is what you both call fun then I think I would have been better off going back to the room and studying.” Artemis said. Flitter and Fluttershy both giggled at Artemis’s comment while Cloudchaser and Rainbow glared at him.
“You know I'm starting to regret him coming along.”Rainbow said crossing her hooves. Artemis shrugged and stood up.
“Well if that's how you feel then-” Artemis’s sentence was cut short when he felt a hoof on his. He turned to see it was Fluttershy's and she was smiling at him.
“She's kidding Artemis.” She said in a soft tone. Artemis couldn't help but blush at Fluttershy's beautiful smile.
“Uh...yea I know.” He said looking away from his crush. Cloudchaser and Flitter both giggled at their friends blush while Rainbow raised an eyebrow at him.
“You ok pal, you look like you have a fever?” Rainbow asked. Artemis’s face lit up after that comment.
“Oh he’s fine, don’t worry about him.” Flitter said snickering.
“Yea, don’t worry about me. I’m going to go order another milkshake, be right back.” He said before walking away.
“Hurry back.” Fluttershy said still smiling at him.
“I will.” He said.
“You sure warmed up to him rather quickly, you don't normally do that.” Rainbow said looking at her friend with a raised eyebrow. Fluttershy shrunk down a bit and hid behind her hair.
“Don’t worry about it Rainbow, Artemis just has that effect on ponies.” Cloudchaser said.
“If you say so.” Rainbow said taking another bite out of her burger. Flitter giggled again and looked to Fluttershy.
“So what do you think of our pal, like Rainbow said you seem to have warmed up to him pretty quick.” She said smiling at the timid pegasus. Fluttershy stayed behind her hair,b t answered.
“I think he’s really nice, he’s also very funny when he wants to be.” Fluttershy said with a small smile.
“That’s Artemis alright, just don’t interrupt him when he’s studying. He’ll go off on you if you do that.” Cloudchaser said with a chuckle.
“I’m guessing you know from experience, huh?” Rainbow asked.
“Oh big time!” Cloudchaser said with a big smile on her face.
“She loves messing with Artemis, it’s like her hobby.” Flitter said.
“Funny I do the same thing to Fluttershy, she’s so easy to embarrass.” Rainbow said with a chuckle. Fluttershy shrunk a bit more, but Flitter put a hoof on her back.
“It's ok Shy, no need to be embarrassed.” She said with a snicker. Right now Fluttershy prayed that Artemis hurried back so they could talk about something else.
“Yea, that’s wasn't gonna happen.”
With Artemis
“Sweet Luna, I feel like I can't breath.” Artemis said putting a hoof over his heart. He couldn’t believe it, he was wasn't just spending time with his pals, he was also spending time with his crush and Rainbow.
“If this is a dream, I don't want to-” “AGH!” Artemis’s thought were cut short when he felt a tug at his neck. He looked to see that the Pendulum was glowing and spazzing out. “Hey what’s up with y- Whoa!” The Pendulum tugged on his neck once again and pointed to the Academy. Artemis was being pulled forward, but did his best to resist. “Come on, what’s the matter with you?” He asked only to have the pendulum tug on his neck even harder. “Ok ok, I’m going!” He said before walking in the direction the pendulum was pointing at. He then looked back to see The twins and Rainbow Dash enjoying themselves, he then looked to Fluttershy who was was looking slightly embarrassed.
“I’m sorry.” He then ran off. Once he was inside the academy, Artemis got a cold chill up his spine. “Ok, I’ve gone through this school many times and I’ve never felt this creeped out.” Artemis thought walking down the Academy hallway. He then looked to the pendulum which was pointing straight ahead. “I don’t like this.” Artemis said to himself. He continued walking until the pendulum lead him to the gym. Artemis looked around to see nothing, not a soul but his own. “Please don’t tell me I left my friends for not-”
RAWWWWWWR!
Artemis jumped a few feet in the air shaking like a leaf. “What is Luna’ name was-”
RAWWWWWWR!
Artemis covered and his ears and looked around for the source of the roar. After a few seconds, a flash of light blinded Artemis and once it died down he was face to face with a huge black dragon.
RAWWWWWWR!
THe dragon roared once again and the force of it cased Artemis to crash into a wall. “AGH!” he screamed in pain. Artemis slowly opened his eyes and looked at the dragon in front of him.
“Is this the dragon I saw in my dreams?” He asked himself. He kept looking at the dragon and realized that… “No it’s not, the dragon in my dream, this one has red eyes.” He said trying his best to stand back up. The black dragon began to slowly walk towards Artemis causing him to back into the wall. “I’m going to die her, aren’t I?” Artemis thought closing his eyes.
“Easy there red-eyes, no need to kill the boy…..well not yet.” Artemis opened his eyes and saw that the black dragon was starting to disappear and as it did he could see a Unicorn stallion with a black coat, a white mane, and green eyes walking towards him. Artemis ad so many questions running through his head.
“Who...who are you, what do you want? Where did that dragon go?” Artemis asked frantically.
“Whoa calm down there kid, My name is Obsidian Shade and I’m here for that jewel around your neck,” Obsidian said pointing at the pendulum. Artemis stepped back a bit.
“Why?” He asked.
“How should I know, I was just told to take it from you?” Obsidian said shrugging his shoulders.
“By who?” Artemis asked.
“None of your business kid, now either hand over the jewel or we'll have to do this the hard way.” Obsidian said glaring at the young pegasus. Before Artemis could say anything else, The pendulum began to glow again and he heard a familiar voice in his head.
“You must not let him get the Pendulum.” Artemis knew it was Princess Luna and he unconsciously nodded.
“I won’t but how am I supposed to do that?” Artemis asked.
“That’s easy young one.” JUst then, the pendulum began to glow brighter and without any warning the strange device he found on his dresser earlier this morning was now wrapped around his left hoof.
“Wait...how?”
With Cloudchaser and Flitter
“Where did they go, they were right here!” Cloudchaser said in a panicked tone. She was showing off Artemis’s cards to Rainbow and Fluttershy only to have them disappear in a bright flash of light.
“I told you not to mess with them.” Flitter said scolding her sister.
“It’s not my fault I swear, the just disappeared.” Cloudchaser said trying to defend herself.
“It’s true, they just evaporated into thin air.” Rainbow said. Fluttershy nodded trying to reassure Flitter who just sighed and began to think.
“I wonder if this has to do with what Artemis told us.” She said quietly, but loud enough for the other mares to hear her.
“What are you talking about Flit?” Rainbow asked in a confused tone.
“Does Artemis know something about this?” Fluttershy asked with concern in her voice. Cloudchaser and Flitter looked at one another and nodded.
“We need to go find Artemis, he might be in trouble. Cloudchaser said with determination in her voice.
“Then let’s go.” With that the two twins flew off to look for their friend leaving a very confused Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.
“What the heck is going on?” Rainbow asked.
“I’m not sure, but they said Artemis could be in some kind of trouble.” Fluttershy said getting worried. Rainbow Dash saw this and ruffled her friends mane.
“Come on, we’re going with them.” She said with a small smile.
“Rainbow-” “Hey we may have just met him, but he seems like a cool guy and like I said before it looks like you warmed up to him pretty quick.” Rainbow said causing Fluttershy to blush. “Now let’s get moving.” Rainbow said before taking off after the twins. Fluttershy nodded and followed Rainbow.
“I hope he’s ok.”
With Artemis...
Obsidian then stepped forward and smiled. “Alright, Hard way it is. The sooner I do this, the sooner I get paid.” Obsidian said as a levitated a similar device out of his saddlebag and placed it around his forearm. Artemis was even more confused now.
“Princess, he has one too. What are these things anyway?” He asked.
“It's called a duel disk Artemis, he’s challenging you to a duel.” The princess said.
“A duel, but I can’t fight.” Artemis thought in a panic.
“You won't have too, I will guide you through this duel Artemis, do you trust me?” Luna asked. Artemis thought about this for a moment.
“Yes, I do,” Artemis said with a nod.
“Good.” The Lunar princess said.
“Nice Duel disk kid, shall we begin?” Obsidian said drawing 5 cards.
“Bring it!” Artemis said as five cards covered in a blue light floated in front of him.
DUEL!

“I’ll start things off, I’ll place a monster facedown in defense mode and then I’ll place one card face down to end my turn.” Just then, two cards appeared on the field, one face down sideways and the other one was behind it in a normal position.
“Whoa, so the card are projected onto the field once we place them onto the Duel disk.” Artemis said to himself.
“That’s right, but right now is not the time to be impressed. It’s your turn.” Luna said getting the young pegasus’s head back into the game. “
Um right...what do I do now?” He asked. Just then another card was drawn from the deck.
“It’s time for you to fight, looked at the cards you have.” Luna said in a serious tone. Artemis did what he was told and looked at his cards.

“Let’s see Astromancy Magician, Whip Viper, Silver Claw, Last Minute Cancel, Monster Reborn and Hippo Carnival. These cards still look weird.’ He thought.
“Yes, but they're going to help you. Now summon Whip Viper in attack mode, that means putting it on the disk Vertical Position.” Luna explained. Artemis nodded and took the card into this hoof.
“I summon Entermate Whip Viper in attack mode!” Artemis said putting a card duel disk. Soon a purple snake with a black top hat and a yellow bowtie appeared in front of Artemis.

“Wow, cool.” Artemis said impressed. “Now what?” He asked the princess.
“Tell him to attack his face-down monster.” Luna said.
“Got it! Whip Viper, attack this face-down monster!” Artemis commanded. The purple snake lunged at Obsidian’s face- down before sinking his teeth into it. The card disappeared and was quickly replaced by a what looked like a green dragon holding a sword and shield before leaving the field completely. “Was that a dragon?” Artemis asked in confusion.
“Yes it was, that was my troop dragon and he’s got one heck of a special ability. You see, whenever troop dragon is destroyed I’m allowed to summon another troop dragon from the deck.” Obsidian explained before taking summoning another Troop dragon in attack mode.

“I’m guessing that’s why he has ‘troop’ in his name, huh?” Artemis asked the Earth pony.
“That’s right.” He said with a smile. Artemis narrowed his eyes and took a deep breath.
“What now?” He asked the moon princess.
“Place Last Minute Call face-down and end your turn.” Luna said.
“Right! I place La-” “DON’T SAY THE NAME OF HE CARD!” Luna shouted causing Artemis to flinch.
“Ok, ok! I place one card face-down and end my turn.” Artemis said not wanting to make Luna mad. Obsidian looked at the young colt with a confused look on his face.
“What’s wrong with you kid, why are you talking to yourself?” He asked. Artemis then realized that hwe was the only one who could hear Princess Luna.
“No reason, isn’t it your turn?” Artemis asked.
“Whatever, I draw.”

Obsidian looked at the card and smiled.
“I play my face down, ‘Call of the Haunted’!” The card on the field flipped up and showed a picture of a graveyard with pink smoke coming from the ground.
“Call of the Haunted?” Artrems asked taking a stepped back.
“That’s right and here’s how it works. It allows me to bring back one monster from my graveyard that was destroyed.” Obsidian explained. Artemis knew were this was going.
“So you’re going to bring back your other troop Dragon, am I right?” Artemis asked.
“Hey you’re learning, that’s good. Come on back Troop Dragon!” Obsidian said as his first troop dragon returned to the field.
“Now it’s time for the fun to start, I sacrifice my two Troop Dragons to summon a good friend of mine and I’m sure you’re pretty familiar with him as well.” Obsidian said as the two Troop dragons disappeared from the field and the card he was holding was now covered in a black Aura.
“Be careful young one, he about to summon a powerful monster!” Luna said in a worried tone. Artemis heard this and he began to sweat.
“This is not good.” He said to himself. Obsidian then raised the card in the air.
“From the depths of darkness, I call forth the black dragon with blood red eyes!” He then placed the card onto his Duel disk. After a few seconds, the entire room the soon covered in a black fog causing Artmes to get a shiver up his spine.
“P..p..princess…” He stuttered.
“I feel it to, stay strong.” Luna said trying to comfort the young pegasus.
“Come forth, Red-Eyes Black Dragon!” Obsidian said with a dark smile on his face. Just then, a pair of glowing red eyes cold be seen through the black fog and soon the huge dragon Artemis saw earlier emerged from the fog. “Say hello Red-eyes.” Obsidian said.
RAWWWWWWR!
Artemis covered his ears as the dragon roared. “Well I lived a full life.” He thought to himself.
“No you didn't, you didn't tell that Fluttershy girl you liked her.” Luna said in a calm tone. Artemis’s eyes widened.
“How did you-” “I know many things young one, now calm down and focus. This duel just got a whole lot more dangerous.”
