My Fair Princess

Prince Blueblood needs to have some major changes done if he wants to rule Equestria.

Prince Blueblood's 21st is approaching, and with it, his ascension to the throne. The only problem; he's a stallion. All of Equestria's leaders have been female. As have all their children, but for some reason Blueblood was born a male. Celestia thought she could overlook this by finding and teaching a suitable pupil, but Twilight Sparkle has created her own Empire in Ponyville and has no interest in moving back to Canterlot. So the sisters are left with one option if they ever want to retire; turn Blueblood into a mare.

Oh he may protest and hate the idea at first, but he doesn't have a choice, now does he, if she's to rule Equestria.

The Big News

View Online

Prince BlueBlood was in an unusually giddy mood lately. A smile plastered on his face and his hooves stepped with a bounce in them. Even the boring routine jobs he had around the castle weren't phasing him. This was all because, at the end of the week, he; Prince BlueBlood, nephew of Princess Celetia, would become the new ruler of Equestria!

He could hardly keep himself composed upon hearing the news. It was always assumed his cousin Princess Cadence would become the ruler, but then the Crystal Empire appeared and she left. He had of course gotten his hopes up, but that died when Twilight ascended to an Alicorn and became a Princess. So he continued his life just the same, with the irritating knowledge that a pony who wasn't even born into the royal family was going to become ruler of Equestria. But then she went and got her own castle! In Ponyville! of all places. Ahaha, the fight she and Celestia had when his Aunt had told her she needed to move back to Canterlot if she was to take over reign of Equestria. Twilight refused to leave Ponyville and her friends, saying that she didn't want to rule Equestria if she had to leave them. Which left Celestia and Luna one last candidate if they ever hoped to retire; Prince BlueBlood.

It was announced that he would be the new ruler and his coronation would be at the end of the month on his 21st birthday. Three weeks had passed and things were coming along nicely. The dignitaries were due to arrive tomorrow in time for the Grand Galloping Gala, and he was just about to head into town to buy a new suit. He was even thinking of commissioning a custom made one for his coronation.

Prince BlueBlood was just about to trot out the castle's front doors when two looming shadows fell on him. Looking up, he saw his two Aunts; Princess Celestia and Luna, smiling down at him.

Bowing, he greeted them;

"Good morning Princesses."

"Good morning Prince BlueBlood," Celestia replied, "Where are you off to today?"

"I was about to head into town to buy a new suit for the Gala tomorrow."

"Good thing we caught up to him now, sister. What a waste of bits it would have been." Luna said. Celestia shushed her quickly and smiled down wider at BlueBlood as she guided him with her wing to turn around and walk with them.

"What Luna means is, there's no need for you to buy a new suit right now. Come, we have something to discuss with you." Curious, but silent, BlueBlood followed his Aunts into a private room where they could talk.

"What was it you wanted, Princesses?"

"Oh Please BlueBlood, you're to be coronated at the end of the week, there's no need to call us so formally. We're your Aunts, just Celestia and Luna are fine."

"Alright, but pardon repeating myself..."

"BlueBlood, have you ever noticed the history of Equestria's rulers?"

"... I don't understand."

"They're all mares. Ever since the tribes united and became the Equestria we all know today, the ruler has always been a Princess. You're the first Prince to rule since Princess Platinum's father; the Unicorn King." Celestia explained.

"And he was denounced when it was revealed he was using Earth Pony slaves to mine the tunnels in the Canterlot Mountain." Luna added.

"Why hasn't a stallion ruled before now?" He asked.

"Because they can't be trusted." Luna stated so coldly it made BlueBlood's stomach turn. He looked to Celestia and she too was glaring down at him.

"Never has a ruler of Equestria had a colt for a foal, everyone with royal blood only ever has fillies. It was a spell cast long ago to ensure the throne would only go to a female." Suddenly Celestia turned on him, "But then you happened, the mysterious variable, an outlier, the one that shouldn't be, the accident. Although we were confused, we decided to forget about it, afterall, we had candidates already."

"But why? Why can't a stallion rule?"

"Because stallions are susceptible to greed and become power hungry." Luna stated," Discord, King Sombra, Tirek; all examples of stallions who were rulers, but ultimately caused trouble. Mares have a natural nurturing side to them due to the fact that we are mothers. We care for our subjects like children and would do anything to help them. Males don't have this nurturing nature. They see only subjects that they can control and hold power over."

"So you can imagine our apprehension when we decided to make you the new ruler." Celestia said.

"But we've been doing this job for so long, we couldn't take living through another lifetime trying to teach another pupil to become the next Princess so we could finally have our retirement." Luna sighed.

"With failures like Cadance, Twilight and Sunset Shimmer, we really couldn't take doing it all again." Celestia said while listing the names off on her hoof.

"So grudgingly, you have been chosen to take up the mantle." Luna walked closer.

"But we still couldn't shake the nagging feeling that you may become a corrupt ruler." Celestia came closer.

"So, we have been looking for ways to fix this." Luna grinned.

"And we've finally found it." Celestia said leering over him. BlueBlood's heart was pounding, what was his Aunts saying? Were they replacing him? Were they going to brain-wash him? What?!

"Wha-" His mouth was covered by a large white hoof.

"We've decided, that you're going to become a mare." BlueBlood stared up at them, his eyes bulged, and his jaw dropped. Quickly he paced away from them, walking backwards into the wall.

"Y-you don't mean that?! Do you?! You can't! Tha-that's not possible!"

"Of course it's possible!" Celestia beamed.

"Using Alicorn magic that is." Luna added.

"Yes, it's a spell only Alicorns can perform, and it just so happens, we have two right here."

"But I don't want to be a mare."

"You want to rule don't you?"

"Not if it means you're going to change my gender!"

"Listen BlueBlood, being a mare isn't horrible, it has some perks. Like ruling Equestria for example."

"No!"

"No? Hahaha, look Luna, he thinks he has a choice."

"Foalish isn't he?" Celestia strode up to BlueBlood, her face pressed against his as she glared into his eyes.

"Look here you little.. My sister and I have been ruling this nation for over a thousand years! I think we've earned our retirement. So it makes no difference if you want this or not. You will be a mare, and you will be the next Princess! Got it!" A small whimper escaped his mouth. "Great, now that we've got that sorted. Sister?" Celestia stood back as her horn started to glow. Luna's did the same.

"Wait! You're doing this now?!" He tried to bolt from the room, but he was picked up in a magical grasp, unable to run, unable to fight back. His vision went white as his body was encompassed in magic.

Life = Ruined

"RISE AND SHINE SLEEPY HEAD!" An overly cheerful voice said, bright light blinded his eyes as a curtain was pulled back so he hid under his pillow. His blanket was ripped from his body and the pillow stolen. Groaning, he rubbed his eyes and looked for the source of the rude awakening.

His Aunt; Princess Celestia, was pulling open all the curtains in his room, and opening them to let in the breeze. He slumped back down into his bed, pushing his face into the mattress as he groaned in annoyance. Instantly his ears flicked at the foreign noise, he swore the noise had come from him, but it sounded far too... high for his voice. As his sluggish brain tried to process this information, Celestia said;

"Come on, BlueBelle, we've got a busy day ahead of us."

"BlueBelle?" He instantly asked, shocked with how feminine his voice sounded.

"Of course, you didn't think you'd keep your old name with a body like that." He looked down and gasped at the sight, "I mean, what mare would be called BlueBlood?" True to her word, BlueBlood, was now; BlueBelle. His Her brain did the only thing it thought appropriate; shriek.

Her scream echoed through the castle and into the city. Celestia jammed the pillow in her mouth cutting her off.

"Come along now, you have some preparing to do before we meet the dignitaries."

"YOU TURNED ME INTO A MARE!" Her voice cracking with how high it was going.

"Yes." Her straight answer made BlueBelle pause.

"... Well, change me back!"

"No can do, missy. You're a Princess, now and forever. Can we get on with your preparations?"

"No! I'm never leaving until you change me back! No one can know about this!"

"Too late, we made the announcement yesterday."

"YOU WHAT?!"

"After your little transformation, you passed out and slept for the entire day. So we made the announcement without you. You're to be presented and revealed at the Gala tonight. Everyone in Canterlot knows you're a mare, I'd dare say all of Equestria knows by now."

"My life is ruined."

"Not ruined, just changed. You'll adjust."

"But what's everypony going to think?! I'm a mare now! The things they'll say..."

"Hey, you're about to become the most powerful mare in Equestria, what could they possibly say?" Celestia's words couldn't comfort her though, her mind was full of ponies laughing and ridiculing her. Her eyes welled and tears built up, she refused to cry, but one small sniff escaped and the waterworks went off. She hugged her pillow with a death grip and dug her face into it, blubbering in self pity.

"WAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I don't want to be a maarrreee!" Her body shook with each breath as she cried into her pillow. But her body was covered in a soft, warm object as Celestia cooed to comfort her.

"Hey it's alright," she whispered near her ear, "There's nothing to be upset about. Being a mare isn't so different to being a stallion." BlueBelle looked up, seeing Celestia with her wing draped over her back.

"But *sniff* what if they don't like me?"

"What's not to like? You're actually quite beautiful, and you're fully capable of taking care of Equestria. You're smart, refined, and are in the unique position of understanding both sides of the coin." Celestia leaned in closer to nuzzle her head, "The way I see it, there's no reason for any of them to hate you." Getting up, Celestia strode to the door and asked, "So, are you ready to get the day under way?" BlueBelle shrunk down into her bed as much as she could, hiding her face in her hooves and whining in fear.

"No." Puffing air and flicking her ears back, Celestia's horn glowed as BlueBelle was plucked from her bed.

"I don't have time for this." She grumbled.

"Noooo!" BlueBelle whined as she ran in midair, her legs flinging in all directions to get her back on the ground. She was floated out of the room as she fought to escape, and brought down the hall past stoic guards and gawking maids. Celestia dumped her in a dressing room, calling upon maids to get BlueBelle ready for the dignitary's arrivals this noon.

The dressing room was large, the majority of it being closets and hangers holding clothing of every type. But where BlueBelle was seated, was in front of three large mirrors all faced at her. It was now that she got her very first glimpse of herself.

Her body was the biggest change; no longer was she a tall, largely built stallion, now, she was a petite average sized mare. The same height as the maids. Her hooves were different too, all the same colour as her coat. And where her snout had shrunk, her eyes had grown. But aside from the obvious change, she had to admit, there wasn't too much terribly different. But that still didn't make her any more happy about all this.

Servants were gawking in the doorway but a glare from Celestia got them to straighten up and continue their jobs. Those that were required here, stayed silent in the doorway.

"Well?" Celestia asked, leering down over them with a scrutinising eye, "What are you waiting for? Attend to the Princess. She needs to be ready for the dignitaries arrival this afternoon." The maids and hairdressers all shuffled into the room, crowding around the anxious BlueBelle as Celestia left for her own room. Soon they were alone and BlueBelle was left with a room of silently staring mares.

"Uhh... Morning Ladies?" She said awkwardly, the maids paused, before in unison they all said;

"Morning Princess," And then they suddenly got to work. They surrounded her like a pack of curious wolves and started getting her ready.

Off to the side was a bathroom, where they scrubbed her clean, washing her mane and tail. BlueBelle insisted that she could do this herself but the maids were adamant about completing Celestia's orders. They towelled her off, and brushed her teeth, making sure every tooth, gum and tongue was clean and smelt of fresh mints. BlueBelle thought the torture was over with after that, but they pushed her into the dressing area and got to work combing her coat and mane. All the while they talked amongst themselves, castle gossip fluttering through one of BlueBelle's ears and out the other. What she didn't expect was when they suddenly started putting make up on her. Blue eye shadow over her eyes, some mascara on the eye lashes, and a bit of blush for the cheeks. It was strange and felt odd on her face, she wanted to make them stop, but they'd finished before she could get their attention and tell them no. With practiced skill and magic, they finished the make-up, combed her hair, and tied a blue bow tie around the front of her neck.

Once finished, she saw herself in the mirror and had to admit, she did look... attractive.

She like it better when she was handsome, but it looked like those days were behind her.

Then she was ushered out of the room where a stoic Princess Luna was awaiting her.

"Come BlueBelle, you can join me in the grand entrance while we prepare for the dignitaries arrival."

"But I haven't eaten breakfast yet." She grumbled, her stomach empty having missed lunch and dinner yesterday.

"And you think I have? We're simply must too busy today. In an hour we can have morning tea, but for now we are needed elsewhere." Luna trotted off briskly as BlueBelle solemnly followed after, wishing that the baker could pass by with a tray of muffins or biscuits at that moment.

"BeeBee"

This was so embarrassing! Having to stand here, on display in front of the room like some side-show act for the dignitaries, some of which she knew personally! She was never going to live through this, she was sure she was going to have an anxiety attack if one more pony awkwardly commented on her appearance, or snickered under their breath, or even just talked to her. Why couldn't this day end so she could hide forever in
an abyss and never be heard from again.

"BeeBee!" Oh no, please, why did she have to be here!

From the entrance, came Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, commonly known as Cadence, but even more privately known as Cadee. BeeBee and Cadee were the nicknames they gave each other growing up. Even though they're cousins, they felt more like siblings, always spending time together and hanging out, which made it all the more horrible for BlueBelle, she didn't want her to see her like this, she didn't want her cousin here! The laughs she could take from strangers, but from Cadence?! It would be soul crushing.

Before she could run or teleport away, Cadence was before her; staring at her new body.

"Hello Cadee..." BlueBelle said, slowly shying away from her and hiding behind her hair.

"Wow, I'd heard the news, but I just found it a little hard to believe... Did you really have yourself turned into a mare?"

"Yeah..." BlueBelle couldn't meet her eyes.

"Is everything alright?" Cadence leaned closer, trying to meet her gaze.

"Um, yeah. Yeah everything's alright. I mean, there isn't too much different. I'm just getting used to a few things."

"Like what?"

"Well, I'm a lot shorter than I used to be."

"Haha you're right! Check it out, I'm finally taller than you!" Cadence puffed up, reveling in her new height dominance.

"Heh, yeah..." BlueBelle's head lowered, a pit of sadness growing in her chest. Cadence's wing suddenly wrapped around her shoulders as she said,

"Cheer up BeeBee, you're going to be Princess of Equestria soon! You should be happy!"

"Mhm."

"Good morning to you Cadence," Luna said as she stood before them, "did you make the trip alright?"

"Oh it was fine Aunty, we even stopped in Ponyville to bring Twilight, she's staying in Canterlot for the week to be here for the coronation!"

"Really? I thought she wasn't coming."

"Well originally she wasn't, there's still so much for her to do in Ponyville now that she's a Princess."

"Hmm." Luna's interest waning.

"But since Shiny and I were going we talked her into it. She should be somewhere around here by now."

"The room's almost full," Luna gazed through the crowds, "I see the Saddle Arabian delegates, the Griffon Ambassadors."

"Ooo there's the Bat Pony delegate, I didn't think they'd be here during the day." Cadence said.

"How many more are coming?" BlueBelle groaned, all these ponies, and griffons and who knows what else! Here to stare at her.

"Not many," Luna answered, "Discord may or may not make an appearance, if the mail pony managed to reach him in time that is, so we're just waiting on the Duke and Duchess of Maretonia's family to arrive." Great, just what this party needed, a god of chaos, I'm sure he'd have loads of fun making jokes about her new body. BlueBelle walked away from his Aunt and Cousin, they barely noticed, still naming off the different dignitaries that filled the room. She wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, that she wound up bumping into someone. It's very impolite, and she immediately apologised.

"Oh, so terribly sorry, I didn't see you there."

"BlueBlood?" Looking up, she realized that it was Princess Twilight she had bumped into.

"Oh-uhhh... It's BlueBelle now."

"I barely recognize you." Her eyes squinting at her all over, "Were the Princesses really able to do this?"

"Yes."

"I knew Alicorn magic was powerful, but I didn't know it was this powerful. How did they find out about this? Is there a book here about it? I've never read about anything like this happening before."

"Your guess is as good as mine, Twilight."

"Don't you know?"

"No, they didn't tell me much aside from the fact that they could."

"I have to talk with them about this." Twilight's eyes sparkled with excitement, a short dragon rolling his eyes by her side. Though those eyes quickly fell on the food tables and he was gone. "How do you like being a mare?"

"Huh?" BlueBelle's focus from the dragon turned back to the purple alicorn she realized was also taller than her.

"I asked if you liked being a mare?"

"I haven't been one long enough to really say."

"Oh, well... Uh how about the Gala? Are you excited for it? Is your gown beautiful?"

"I don't have a gown, I haven't managed to get one yet."

"What? But the Gala's tonight! Where are you supposed to get a dress at such short notice?!"

"I-I don't know, maybe I could just where one of my bow ties, that would be fine wouldn't it?"

"But this is your first Gala as a girl, as my friend Rarity would say; you've got to look simply marvelous! Rarity! Maybe I could get a letter to her, she's the best seamstress around. She could make you something in time."

"No, you really don't have to." BlueBelle started backing nervously away from her, "Besides, I don't think she'd want to; I was a bit rude to her, she threw cake on me, we.. we don't really get along...."

"Nonsense, Rarity's always willing to forgive anyone, I'm sure if you both apologized, she wouldn't mind making you a dress, plus, she'd love the advertising either way."

"It's really okay, I'm fine."

"I'll send the letter right now! Spike take a...." Twilight spun around searching for her dragon friend, "Spike?" She wandered off in search of him, while BlueBelle silently sneaked away, hoping that would be the end of it.

Not many other guest talked to her, they mainly all glanced her way when she passed, muffled whispers followed where she went. How she wished to just escape from this torment, perhaps no one would notice if she left... One of the hallway doors was close by, if she managed to just make it past this group of ponies, she could head out, disappear, perhaps leave Equestria all together? It's not like ruling Equestria is that important to her.

She made her way closer, and just as she was about to make it out of the crowd, a large white looming shape appeared before her.

"BlueBelle! Just the pony I was looking for." Princess Celestia started herding her back through the crowd and away from the exit, BlueBelle tried to push past Celestia, get around her somehow, but Celestia expertly blocked every path while saying; "The Duke and Duchess of Maretonia have finally arrived and wish to meet you, I told them I'd introduce you personally and they've even brought along their son. Their Grandparents are here as well, though I believe they wandered off to find a suitable place to sit down."

They'd made it to the centre of the room even with BlueBelle trying to push past Celestia's leg, though she fell down once Celestia stopped.

"Are you alright Miss?" BlueBelle turned to the voice and saw someone she didn't recognize, he was a large stallion, much like how she had looked as a stallion, though with a rounder chin, and his coat was a bright white but had a colourful blue robe that covered his entire body, hiding his cutiemark. His mane was a dark brown, and bunched in curls all over his head, while his blue eyes gazed down at her.

"Oh, uh yes. Yes I'm alright."

"Let me help you." His hoof appeared out from under his robe, revealing dark hooves like his hair, she put her hoof into his and he helped her up.

"Thank you.."

"Indigo, Indigo Feather; Earl of Maretonia."

"Thank you Earl Indigo, I'm Prince Blu- Princess BlueBelle.."

"So you're the Princess, I don't mean to be rude but we were told that it was a Prince being coronated." He smiled as he talked to her, chuckling as he said it.

"Heh," BlueBelle nervously laughed, "There was some.. last minute changes..." She glanced towards Celestia standing with Indigo's Parents.

"That must've been so odd for you," he circled around her, forgetting what personal space was. "I mean, I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. Has your mind changed as well?" His face suddenly very close to her own as he stared at her head, "Do you find kittens uncontrollably adorable?"

"I-I haven't seen a kitten yet to test it out."

"Well we simply must find one!" Suddenly he was dragging her out the door and down the stone steps of the castle, making his way to the city.
