When the musical West Side Story is introduced to the Mane 6, they travel into the movie! What do they do? What happens to them? And most importantly, who will get shipped with who by the readers? Read the story and find out!
When one of the most popular musicals on Earth, West Side Story, is introduced to Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends in Equestria, they are able to travel into the movie! What follows is getting involved with the songs, the rumble, and helping the characters advance the plot. The one thing they want, however, is to fix the ending. The question is, what should they do and how do they pull it off?
This story is dedicated to all fans of My Little Pony and/or West Side Story.
WARNING: This story spoils the movies West Side Story and My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks, plus various spoilers the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

It was a nice day at Canterlot High School. Harmony has just been restored, the sirens were defeated, and the Rainbooms were one happy band again, even accepting the now trusted Sunset Shimmer into their band. but Princess Twilight Sparkle and her assistant Spike had to return home. They stood outside the portal, saying their goodbyes to Sunset Shimmer and her friends, human counter parts to Twilight's friends in Equestria, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity. Pinkie Pie stuck her head into the portal, coming out all dizzy and confused.
"Sure wish you could stay longer," sighed Applejack.
"Me too. But I have responsibilities in Equestria that I have to get back to. Its citizens need me," reminded Twilight "But now I can go through the portal whenever I need to. This isn't goodbye. It's just goodbye 'til next time."
"Wait!" yelled Sunset Shimmer "I want to give you this. It's kind of a way of saying thank you." She gave Twilight a small box. "You do have DVD players in Equestria, right?" Sunset Shimmer added.
"Yes," replied Twilight. It was probably some type of movie the people in this world watch, she thought to herself. "Thank you so much!" she said as she stuck it into her backpack.
Spike, a dog in this world, poked Twilight. "We better get going."
"You're right. Ready, Spike?"
"Ready!" Spike replied as he and Twilight walked through the portal.
"What did you give Twilight?" Rarity asked Sunset Shimmer after a long period of silence.
"Just one of my favorite movies from the other human world," she answered "I have a feeling she and all of her friends will find something to like about it."
Back in Equestria, the real Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy were all waiting by the portal in Twilight's new castle. All of a sudden, out the mirror popped now a dragon Spike, and now an alicorn pony Twilight, carrying a saddle bag instead of a backpack.
Earth pony Applejack hugged Twilight and sighed, "Oh, we were so worried!"
"Did you do it?" unicorn Rarity asked.
"It sirens are all taken care of." boasted Spike.
The other earth pony, Pinkie Pie, squealed, "I knew you could do it!"
"Um, Twilight," Fluttershy whispered "What's in the bag?"
Twilight took the box out of the bag using her magic. "It's a gift Sunset Shimmer gave to me before I left. I think it's a movie because she asked me if we had DVD players here." she explained.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" interrupted Rainbow Dash "Open it!"
Twilight opened the box. Inside was a red DVD case with the title of the movie in black, the words connected by ladders with creatures from the Canterlot High world dancing on them ,also in black. Twilight could barely make out the title, which she read out loud, "West Side Story." She looked on the back for a synopsis, which she also read out loud, "The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds in the Upper West Side of New York City. The members of the Sharks, from Puerto Rico, are taunted by the Jets, an American gang. The young protagonist, Tony, a former member of the Jets and best friend of the gang leader, Riff, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks."
"Wait, this movie is about gangs?" Rainbow Dash asked "YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!"
"Heavens no!" Rarity interrupted "It's about two young ponies who fall in love and are torn apart by their nationality. It sounds so divine!"
"You mean like... Romeo and Juliet?" questioned Pinkie Pie.
Twilight stepped in. "First, Rainbow Dash, it looks like Rarity is right, but the gangs might play a role in this. Second, Pinkie Pie, that's exactly what I was thinking! Last, Rarity, these aren't ponies, they're creatures from the other world. Let's play this movie and I'll show you."
The ponies got the TV into the throne room. Twilight and Pinkie Pie squeezed together on Twilight's throne, Rarity sat on the floor below them, Fluttershy and Spike sat together on his throne, Applejack sat on the arm rests of the two thrones, and Rainbow Dash sat below her.
As the movie started, everyone was drawn in, but Twilight was confused. These humans kind of looked like the ones from the other world, but everyone, instead of having multicolor hair and skin, they had brownish hair and tan-ish skin. Didn't Sunset Shimmer mention to me something about another human world, she thought to herself, where the people there looked somewhat different? This must be where these people were from.
As the movie ended, everyone's reaction was different. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were talking about how epic the movie was, Rarity and Fluttershy were talking about how lovely it was, and Pinkie Pie and Spike were talking about the out of nowhere and sad ending. The pony who loved the movie the most was Twilight, not because of the gangs, the romance, or the ending. Part was a combination of all three, and mostly it was because she just loved the characters.
"How I wish I could go and meet Riff and the Jets! It would be so... cool." Rainbow Dash put on sunglasses and laughed at her own joke.
Applejack smacked her, "The Sharks are obviously the better gang! They're the ones who get tormented!"
"Just because you get tormented doesn't mean you're the best!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
"I feel sorry for them!" snapped Applejack.
"Girls, calm down!" Twilight shouted. They stopped. "There is no sense in arguing about this! But I would love to go meet the characters. Tony, Maria, Anita, Riff, Bernardo... it would be so great!
Pinkie Pie laughed, "Well, duh! You can!"
Everyone looked at her, waiting for a response. "Are you going to tell us how?" asked Rarity.
"Only if she wants too," Fluttershy whispered to Rarity.
"If the magic in Sunset Shimmer's book could take you to her world, then maybe the magic in the DVD can take you to the world where West Side Story takes place!" explained Pinkie Pie.
Everyone shouted, "Pinkie Pie, you're a..."
"...genius? I know," she finished.
Twilight brought the DVD to the mirror portal and placed it at the connector. Sure enough, the magic was extracted out and turned on the portal.
"Do you think it's safe to go?" Fluttershy worried "What if there are counterparts of us there?"
"Doubt it," responded Twilight "Now, before we go in, there is something you should know. We are going to look like the creatures in the movie. It's going to take some getting used to with the new body. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Yes!" everyone replied.
"Except for you, Spike." Twilight added.
"What? Why?" asked Spike.
"You need to stay here and make sure no one worries about us while we are gone."
"Oh... okay," Spike grumbled as he walked away.
"We won't be gone long!" yelled Twilight. She turned to the others, "Alright girls, let's do this! Ready?"
"Ready!" the others shouted.
Rainbow Dash added, "Riff, here comes Rainbow Dash!"
Twilight said quickly, "By the way, when going through the portal, don't think, just go through! It might help if you run and close your eyes."
First Pinkie Pie ran in, then Applejack, followed by Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. Twilight closed her eyes and ran through.
When she opened her eyes, Twilight was in between the side of Doc's Drug Store and the fence next to the playground! They did it! She and her friends made it!
"Uh... Twilight," Rainbow Dash's voice said "Didn't you say we would transform? Because we're still ponies!" Twilight looked at her friends. They were still ponies. She found a small shard of mirror about her height. She was a pony too.
"I don't understand," worried Twilight "Why didn't we transform?"
The girls just sat watching as Twilight paced around as she normally did as she was thinking.
"This doesn't make any sense." she murmured "We were supposed to transform in order to fit in. Now, everypony is going to see us and think they're crazy! And what will happen to us? Will we get kidnapped and put into a freak show, like when we discovered griffons in Equestria?" Someone poked Twilight. "WHAT!? Oh, sorry. I'm just kind of nervous. What is it Fluttershy?"
"We think that shard of mirror over there is the gateway back to Equestria." Fluttershy piped. Twilight stuck her hoof in the shard. Fluttershy was probably right.
"What do we do?" asked Applejack "Go home?"
Twilight thought long and hard. Going back to Equestria would be the logical thing to do. "Do you girls want to go back home?" Pinkie Pie was about to say something, but she stopped when the ponies heard a noise. They would recognize that noise anywhere. Snap, snap, snap, snap.
"Oh my Celestia!" shouted Rarity "Is that...
"THE JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!" shouted Rainbow Dash "I'm going to check it out!"
"Wait!" Twilight shouted "They can't see you like this! Let's just watch. I'll cast an invisibility spell so we can get closer. Just don't talk or make any noises."
Twilight cast the spell. They entered through a hole in the fence as Action and A-Rab, two members of the Jets, were playing with someone else's basketball. "Aren't they so awesome?" whispered Rainbow Dash as soft as she could.
"Shh!" ordered Twilight. The Jets continued on, outside to playground, the ponies hot on their trail. One Jet started a little dance, others joining in. Eventually, Riff led the whole gang into dance, the ponies in awe. But then came...
"Bernardo!" whispered Applejack.
"Shh!" the others shushed. What happened next they all knew: the Jets laughed at him, he called in Sharks, they danced, and what followed was the best live action version of Tom and Jerry ever.
The ponies went to a deserted area to talk about what they just witnessed. "This is the best thing EVER!" proclaimed Pinkie Pie.
"Look out!" shouted Fluttershy. It was Baby John, one of the Jets. The ponies knew what he was going to do. He went up to some graffiti with the word SHARKS and added the word, STINK.
"Oh, I wouldn't have done that if I were you." murmured Twilight. And, wouldn't you know it, out came Bernardo and some Sharks. Twilight and the gang followed them back to the playground, where there was a massive brawl out between the Jets and Sharks.
"Ooh!" whispered Rarity "Here comes Officer Krupke!"
"Y Lieutenant Schrank!" added Pinkie Pie, quoting the movie.
"How many times do I have to tell you punks to knock it off?" asked Officer Krupke.
"You tell them!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
Applejack yelled back, "Stop it! You're going to give us away!"
Officer Krupke pointed his gun the direction of the ponies, "Whose there? Show yourself!"
Twilight said to the others, "We're caught, we might as well." Twilight stopped casting the spell. The ponies were now revealed.
"Now that I'm free..." remarked Rainbow Dash. She flew to over to Riff and hugged him. "YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!"
Twilight dragged her back with her magic. "Rainbow, we can't let them know we saw the movie. For one thing it's crazy. Second, they'll ask us what happens and ask us to alter it. If we alter it, we might alter the movie all together!"
"Oh, that's not good," whispered Rainbow Dash.
Riff went up to the ponies, "How do know who I am? Oh, and WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU??????"
Pinkie Pie introduced, "I'm Pinkie Pie, this is Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle. She's a princess! To answer your question, we watched you fighting with those Sharks!"
Ice, Riff's assistant, came up, "Where did you come from?"
"I'll take care of this," Rarity whispered to the others. She turned to humans. "We come from a land called Equestria. We got placed here by mistake. We just happened to see you two gangs tumbling it out and decided to watch."
"Please don't turn us in to the freak show Riff," Twilight pleaded.
"We won't turn you in. We'll make sure of it." Officer Krupke reassured.
"Hey, how did you know my name was Riff?" Riff questioned.
"Oh! I did a quick identification spell for everyone here!"
Bernardo came over, "Identification spell? You can do magic?"
"Duh, what did you think the horn was for? And the wings can make us fly," Twilight added.
Officer Krupke turned to the gangs, "As for you guys, I want you to start making nice with each other." He and the lieutenant left. The Sharks went next.
The ponies went into a huddle. Twilight remarked, "I think we should split up. Three us go with the Jets, three of us with the Sharks."
"I call the Sharks!" Applejack and Rarity said simultaneously.
"Okay," said Twilight, "Who wants to join them?"
"I want to stay with the Jets!" said Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie.
"Of course you do," Twilight whispered "Where do you want to go Fluttershy?"
"I guess I'll go with Rarity and Applejack," Fluttershy replied.
"I guess I'm here then. Good luck girls. We'll see you at the dance tonight."
"See you," said Rarity, Fluttershy, and Applejack as they left.
"Now let's go win us some Jets!" shouted Rainbow Dash.
Riff was talking with the Jets about what to do with the Sharks. "We're going to decide who's the best once and for all!"
"What are you going to do?" Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash were standing by them.
"Beat it ponies!" shouted the Jets.
"Are you sure you don't want our help?" asked Pinkie Pie. She got out her party cannon, Twilight shot a laser at a wall, and Rainbow Dash performed a Sonic Rainboom.
"Maybe we would let them in," said Tiger. The other Jets nodded in agreement.
"What are you going to do about the Sharks?" Rainbow Dash repeated.
"We're going for an all out rumble!" Riff proclaimed "And there's only one man who can helps us: Tony."
"TONY?????" shouted the Jets.
Riff said to the ponies, "Tony is my best friend and fellow founder of the Jets."
"Before he ditched us for "a normal life"" Action added.
"Tony doesn't belong anymore." Baby John said.
"Tony has always came through for us and he always will." Riff started singing, "When you’re a Jet, you’re a Jet all the way from your first cigarette to your last dyin’ day. When you’re a Jet, let them do what they can, you got brothers around, you’re a family man! You’re never alone, you’re never disconnected! You’re home with your own-- when company’s expected, you’re well protected! Then you are set with a capital J, which you’ll never forget till they cart you away. When you’re a Jet, you stay a Jet!" The ponies beamed.
"A true, true friend helps a friend in need!" Twilight shouted.
"Exactly!" Riff said "How about you ponies come with me to see Tony?"
"Sure!" Twilight said.
"Were are you going to find Bernardo? It isn't safe to go into PR territory," asked Snowboy.
"He'll be at the dance tonight at the gym." Riff explained.
"Yeah, but the gym is neutral territory." A-Rab replied.
"I'm gonna make nice with him. I'm only going to challenge him! Meet me, Tony and... these techno colored talking horses... at the gym at 10! And walk tall! Come on you ponies." Twilight, Pinkie, and Rainbow were slightly offended, but walked with him anyway. They found Tony at the side of Doc's.
Tony saw the ponies and screamed, "AHH!!!! WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT RIFF?????????"
"It's all right Tony, they're cool. They're with me and the Jets. This is Twihard, Rainbow Crash, and Stinky Pie."
"Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie!" Twilight shouted.
"We wanted to let you know if you wanted to come to this party with the Jets and challenge the Sharks!" Pinkie Pie squealed.
"Oh, I don't do that anymore," Tony calmly reveled.
"Come on Tonster! You mind if I call you Tonster?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"No. If meeting talking ponies is the thing, then I must ask why?"
"What thing?" asked Riff.
Tony pulled them to the side. "Every day for the past while, I've been thinking that something great is coming. I actually wrote a song about it. Do you want to hear it?"
"NO!!!!!!!!!" all four shouted.
"Now, listen Tony, I told the other guys you would be there," said Riff "If you don't show up, you'll be marked lousy."
Tony sat, thinking. "What time did you tell them?" he asked finally. The ponies lit up.
"10, For me Tony, for Riff!"
"Yeah, for Riff!" shouted Rainbow Dash.
"Womb to tomb?" Riff asked, holding out his hand.
Tony shook it, "Birth to Earth, and I'll live to regret this."
"Who knows?" asked Pinkie "Maybe that thing you're waiting for will be at the dance tonight." She started humming "Tonight". Rainbow Dash shoved her.
As the others left, Twilight went up to Tony, "You made the right decision."
"Thanks, talking purple horse," thanked Tony.
"My name is Twilight," she replied. As she walked away, she could swear she heard someone singing, "Could be... who knows...?"
Meanwhile, with Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy, they were following the Sharks.
"We have got to go up to them eventually," Rarity complained.
"I just don't want to do it," Fluttershy cried.
"Fine, if you two are going to be a bunch of scaredy cats, then I'll do it." Applejack resolved "Hey, Bernardo! Over here!"
Bernardo looked over and saw the ponies, "Oh, it's you guys. What do you want?"
"We were wondering if we could stay with you until we can go back to Equestria," Rarity offered.
"What are a bunch of weak little ponies like you going to do for the Sharks?"
Rarity kicked down a guy, Fluttershy used the Stare on another guy, which made him running and crying like a little girl, and Applejack bucked down a wall.
"Oh..." Bernardo was in shock "Come with me. I'll tell you what it is like to be a Shark. Chino! Come! Let's go see the girls!"
"What girls?" Fluttershy asked "Oh, sorry!"
"She a little... insecure," explained Applejack.
"It's okay," said Bernardo "My girlfriend Anita and my sister Maria. I want her to marry Chino here."
"What if she doesn't like Chino?" asked Rarity.
"She likes me just fine! I'm going to win her heart tonight at the dance!" smiled Chino.
"A... dance?" beamed Fluttershy "Dances are so lovely!"
"We're here!" Bernardo told the ponies. They knew where they were. They were at the bridal shop Maria and Anita worked at. When they went inside, Anita was sewing a dress and Maria was twirling in a dress. They saw the ponies and screamed.
"My worst nightmares have come true!" Anita squealed.
"Please don't be afraid!" Rarity pleaded, "We're very friendly! I am Rarity, this is Fluttershy and Applejack."
"The pleasure in mine," said Maria "You're actually really adorable." Fluttershy blushed.
Applejack, trying to take her mind off of the kissing Bernardo and Anita, asked, "So, I hear we're going to dance tonight?"
"We are!" Maria cheered.
"You look very excited about this!" Fluttershy remarked.
"I am," Maria replied "Tonight is my first night as a woman in America." She twirled once more.
"You're dress is absolutely divine darling! Where did you get it?" Rarity questioned.
"Anita made it for me!"
Rarity turned to Anita, "I have a feeling we're going to be great friends. I am too a dress maker."
"That's nice!" Anita said "Chino, I want you looking out for dear Maria tonight."
"Is he your boyfriend Maria?" Applejack (not really) wondered.
"Not really. We're friends, but Bernardo wants me to marry him."
Fluttershy pretended to be curious, "So, I hear you're from Puerto Rico. Are you happy you moved here?"
"Not really," Bernardo sighed "As you already might know, we are kind of... discriminated."
Fluttershy got mad, "Well, that's not kind, especially since you're so nice to us, even though we just got here."
"Thanks," Bernardo thanked. The phone started ringing and he picked it up. After talking into it for a while he gave it to Rarity, "It's for you,"
Rarity, confused, picked up the phone with her magic, "Hello?"
"Rarity, it's me, Twilight. How are you doing?"
"We're doing fine. We got the Shark's trust. We met Bernardo, Chino, Maria, and Anita."
"We're doing great too. We got the trust and met all the Jets. Riff is kind of a bit mean to us though. "
"Well, Bernardo has been such a sweetheart to us, very generous. Have you met Tony?"
"Yeah, he called me a "talking purple horse""
"Well, you are a talking purple horse."
"Whatever! I'm calling because how are we going to meet and talk when half of us are with the Jets and half is with the Sharks?"
"Relax Twilight, they saw us together, they know were friends."
"If you say so. And this is only the beginning. I still can't believe we decided to do this."
"Well, believe it Twilight. So, anyways... I'll see you tonight. I'm so excited to the two lovebirds together.
"We all are. And I guess I will see you later, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash too."
"Applejack and Fluttershy too, darling, will be there. Thank you so much for calling Twilight. I don't know what we would do without you."
"Thanks. See you at the gym and get ready to MAMBO!"
"MAMBO!" shouted Rarity as hung up.
Applejack tugged at Rarity's tail, "You ready to go? Everyone else is leaving for the dance."
"Right," Rarity sighed.
"Who were you talking to?" Fluttershy wondered (for real this time).
"Just... a friend... let's get going." The ponies fled out the door, ready for the big moment of the movie to happen.
"Pinkie Pie, stop eating all the cookies!" Rainbow Dash ordered. They were at the dance, waiting for the Sharks to show up. Sure enough, they came in. Twilight waved to the ponies with them.
"They're really good dancers," Twilight remarked, referring to the Jets on the dance floor.
"Duh," Rainbow Dash replied "The actors have trained, remember?" The other ponies came up.
"Hey you guys!" shouted Pinkie Pie from the punch bowl "Ready?"
"You better believe I'm ready!" shouted Applejack
As everyone was getting comfortable, the manager of the gym, Glad Hands came in and said, "Okay, I want the girls to from a small circle and the guys to from a circle outside of them." He turned to the Sharks, who were confused, "Dos circolos." As they nodded, he continued, "When the music plays, I want the boys to walk my left and the girls to walk to my right. When the music stops they boy dances with whatever girl is in front of them. So who wants to come up?" Nobody came up.
Out of nowhere, Bernardo and Anita came up. "Yeah, go Bernardo!" shouted Applejack.
Next, came Riff and his girlfriend. "You're my guy Riff!" Rainbow Dash yelled. And, just like that, almost everyone came in. The music swelled up and everyone started moving. But, as it stopped, Riff was in front of Anita. "Oh hell no I ain't dancing with you!" he proclaimed. Everyone went back to their section of the gym.
The ponies loved what was next so much, they shouted along, "MAMBO! MAMBO! GO!" The dancing was amazing that the ponies whacked out some of their own dance moves (Except for Twilight, because her dancing SUCKED!).
"Look!" shouted Twilight. Tony was in the building. "Tony!" she shouted. Tony waved.
After a whole lot (and I do mean a whole lot) of dancing, the moment happened. The ponies got to the food line so they could get a better view. Tony and Maria were walking closer, and closer, and closer to each other. The ponies were so captivated by this, they were swept in by the love as well. They could hear the soft music, they could see the other people dancing along, they could see the dark background... well, you get the point. They leaned in to hear them talk.
"I'm thinking of someone else," Tony said.
"I know you are not," Maria replied.
"This is amazing, I knew something amazing was going to happen, but this is so much more."
"My hands are cold!" ("Obviously a flirt," murmured Rainbow Dash.)They held hands. "Yours too." She lifted her hands to his face. "So warm,"
"So beautiful." After a moment of silence, Tony said, "So much to believe in. You aren't joking?"
"I have not learned to joke that way. And now I don't think I ever will." The ponies knew what was coming. They were leaning in closer, and closer, and closer.
"YES!!!" Rarity fainted. As she fainted, Bernardo came to them and swiped Tony away.
"Get your hands off her Americano!" he shouted.
"Tony did nothing!" Riff said "I challenge you to a rumble to see who is the best once and for all! We meet at Doc's in one hour to discuss terms!"
"Alright!" Bernardo replied "As for you Maria, you are in big trouble! Sharks, we leave!" They started to leave as Bernardo saw ponies were just standing there. "You too, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy!"
"We'll see you at the meeting," Fluttershy said as she and Applejack left, dragging an unconscious Rarity.
Twilight turned to the other two, "I think one of us should go with Tony. Which one of us is the least likely to throw up after seeing love." Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie pointed to her. "FINE! LEAVE ME TO HEAR SONG WITH ONE WORD 29 TIMES!!!!!!" She calmed down, "If Riff asks, tell him the truth, I'm with Tony and I'll be back in time for the meeting."
"Good luck Twilight!" wished Rainbow Dash "You're going to need it..." She and Pinkie Pie started to laugh as Twilight walked toward Tony.
"Hey, Tony!" Twilight shouted "Are you okay man? I saw you getting jiggy with that Puerto Rican girl!"
"Maria," Tony mumbled.
"Sorry, what was that?" asked a nervous Twilight, hoping it wasn't what she thought it was.
Tony picked Twilight up and carried her outside, "Her name is Maria, Twilight, Maria!"
"Here we go..." Twilight cried.
Tony started singing," The most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard. Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria... All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word: Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria... Maria, Maria... Maria! I’ve just met a girl named Maria, and suddenly the name will never be the same to me. Maria! I’ve just kissed a girl named Maria, and suddenly I’ve found how wonderful a sound can be! Maria! Say it loud and there’s music playing... Say it soft and it’s almost like praying... Maria... I’ll never stop saying Maria!"
"You need to stop eventually," notified Twilight as Tony put her down "Or people are going to you're crazy!" She had come to the part where Tony was just saying "Maria" nonstop. That didn't stop her from trying, "Could you please stop? That's kind of annoying. Hello? Earth to Tony? TOOONNNYYY!!!!!!! You're just going to ignore me, are you?" Figured..."
Tony kept singing, "Maria! Say it loud and there’s music playing... Say it soft and it’s almost like praying... Maria. I’ll never stop saying Maria! The most beautiful sound I ever heard. Maria..." He turned to Twilight, "Sorry, I had to get that out of my system. What were you saying?"
"To stop saying 'Maria'," Twilight grumbled "Tell me how you led the Jets again?"
"But Twilight, she was so beautiful! Right from the moment I saw her in the gym, I knew she was the one for me. In fact, I'm going to go see her right now! Do you know where she lives?" Twilight had a worried look on her face. "Come on Twilight, I'll repay you the favor! Just don't tell the others!
"I guess I can teleport you there," Twilight stuttered "But I do want the favor repaired though."
"You're the best! It's no wonder you're the one of your friends with a horn and wings!"
"Back where I'm from, I'm the Princess of Friendship."
"Sweet! Tell me more about your home and what you're life is like."
"Okay!" grinned Twilight as she prepared the spell "My home land is called Equestria..."
Back with the Sharks, Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy were with the other Sharks, waiting for Bernardo. Slowly but surely, the arguing voices of him and Anita came right before they did. "Is Maria alright?" asked Fluttershy.
"It will not happen again," informed Bernardo. Applejack shoved an apple to him, "Thanks Applejack, but never mind my stomach."
"Well I mind your nose and your head broken!"shouted Anita.
"BROKEN????" asked everyone.
Anita turned to them, "Sure. They use Maria as an excuse to start World War III. She was only dancing."
Bernardo came in, "With an American, who's really a Polack."
Anita sat down next to the ponies, "Says the Spic,"
"Oooooohhhhh!!!!!!!!!" The ponies oohed.
Bernardo pointed to Anita, "You are not so cute,"
"That Tony is," announced Rosalia.
"And he works," added Consuelo.
"A delivery boy!" shouted Chino.
Bernardo pointed to him, "And what are you?"
"Well, an assistant!"
"And Chino makes half of what the Polack makes. The Polack is an American..."
Anita interrupted, "Oh, here comes the whole commercial: You're mothers a Pole, you're father's a Swede, but you were born here and that's all that you need. You're an American, but us? Foreigners!"
Everyone, including the ponies shouted along, "Lice! Cockroaches!"
Bernardo sighed, "But it's true. When I thought how it would be for us here, we came like children..."
"...Trusting with our hearts open!" Anita mocked.
Applejack stood up, "With our arms open!"
Indio pushed her, "You came with your mouth open!"
Rarity bent over to her, "It's funny because it's true."
Applejack whispered, "You're just jealous because I'm so honest."
They turned to a ranting Bernardo, "...you'll go back in handcuffs."
"I'm going back in a Cadillac!" exclaimed Pepe "Air conditioned! Built-in bar! Telephone! Television!"
"If you had all that here, why would you want to go back to Puerto Rico?" questioned Francesca.
Anita scoffed, "Oh, even if you didn't have all that here, why would want to go back?"
"It's so good here?" Bernardo asked her.
"It's so good there? We had nothing!"
"Oh, we still have nothing. Only more expensive!" Anita started walking away. Bernardo teasingly followed her, "Anita Josephina Beatriz del Carmen Margarita etc..."
"It's just plain Anita now! Leave me alone! Once an immigrant, always an immigrant!"
Bernardo turned to everyone, "Look, instead of a shampoo, she's been brainwashed! She's given up Puerto Rico and now she's falling for Uncle Sam!"
The ponies scooted down. One of the best songs of the movie was coming up. Anita turned around, "Oh no, that's not true." She started singing, "Puerto Rico, my heart’s devotion. Let it sink back in the ocean!" The ponies laughed. "Always the hurricanes blowing, always the population growing, and the money owing, and the sunlight streaming, and the natives steaming. I like the island Manhattan. (Fluttershy: I know you do!) Smoke on your pipe and put that in."
The girls got together to sing the next part and the ponies just couldn't help but join in, "I like to be in America. Okay by me in America. Everything free in America.
Bernardo interrupted, "For a small fee in America."
Anita got to the front of the crowd, "Buying on credit is so nice."
Bernardo had a comeback, "One look at us and they charge twice."
Another Shark girl, Rosalia, had something to say, "I’ll have my own washing machine."
Shark Juano also came back, "What will you have, though, to keep clean?"
Rarity decided it was her time to shine. She sang, "Skyscrapers bloom in America."
Applejack joined in, "Cadillacs zoom in America."
Fluttershy was quick to get her own solo, "Industry boom in America."
The Sharks huddled together in front of the ponies, "Twelve in a room in America."
Anita got to the front of the pack again, "Lots of new housing with more space." she sang to the girls.
"Lots of doors slamming in our face." Bernardo sang to the boys.
Back to Anita with the girls, "I’ll get a terrace apartment."
Bernardo turned to her, "Better get rid of your accent."
Anita marched in front of the boys, "Life can be bright in America."
The boys pretended to punch her, "If you can fight in America."
The girls and ponies were quick to defend her, "Life is all right in America."
"If you’re all white in America." It was time to dance. First, Bernardo and a couple of guys, then Anita. They boys went back, this time with a song of their own, "La-la-la-la-la America. (Punch! Punch!) America! La-la-la-la-la America. (Punch! Punch!) America!"
Anita went to retaliate. The ponies went with her, "Here you are free and you have pride."
The Sharks, "Long as you stay on your own side."
Anita and the ponies, "Free to be anything you choose."
The boys, "Free to wait tables and shine shoes!"
Anita, having enough of this walked away, Bernardo was quick to follow her, "Everywhere grime in America. Organized crime in America Terrible time in America."
This time, Anita had a comeback, "You forget I’m in America." The girls and ponies cheered, then (because why not?) MORE DANCING! Anita and some girls started to dance, with Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy joining in.
Bernardo interrupted, "I think I'll go back to San Juan."
Anita was not so concerned, "I know a boat you can get on. Bye Bye!"
Bernardo, ignoring, continued, "Everyone there will give big cheer."
Anita came in as the boys cheered, "Everyone there will have moved here."
There was more dancing, but Bernardo calmed everyone down, "Alright everyone! We need to go to the war council with the Jets! Sharks, we go!"
"Can we come too?" asked Applejack. She and the others made a sad face. "Remember our skills from earlier today?"
"All right! You ponies can come too," Bernardo sighed.
Rarity stepped in, "Actually, Fluttershy and I have something we need to do before we leave TONIGHT!"
"Huh?" Fluttershy was confused. Then she got it, "Oh yeah. We'll meet you there in a snap Bernardo!"
"Okay," Bernardo and the Sharks left.
"Are you really gonna miss this for a stupid love song Rarity?" Applejack whispered.
"Don't worry AJ, we'll be there. Go on!" She shoved Applejack toward the Sharks. "Let's get going Fluttershy," she said as Applejack left. She and Fluttershy headed down to Maria's room.
Rarity knocked on the door to Maria's room, "Maria, darling, are you in there? It's Rarity and Fluttershy, the ponies from before."
Maria opened the door, "Hello Rarity and Fluttershy. What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with the Sharks at the war council?"
Fluttershy was quick to say something, "We wanted to check on you first. We heard you were dancing with an American." Rarity's jaw was wide open. It wasn't like Fluttershy to start talking normally to people she met that day.
Maria pushed the two in so they could hear all about it, "It was the most wonderful thing you could ever imagine! He was just so..." She started crying tears of joy.
"We were with the others talking about it," Fluttershy said, "They said his name was Tony."
"How are you so keen on talking with her Fluttershy?" Rarity questioned.
"Maria is so lovely," she explained. They turned back to Maria.
"Tony... that's a wonderful name," she told the ponies.
"PLEASE DON'T SING A SONG ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!" Rarity screamed.
There was a long period of silence after that. It was finally broken by a voice in the distance that Fluttershy and Rarity recognized. "Maria! Maria!"
"Is that Tony?" said Fluttershy to Maria. They went onto the porch. Sure enough, he was there, along with...
"TWILIGHT!?" Rarity and Fluttershy shouted.
Twilight waved to the ponies, out of breath, "We... made... it!" she told Tony.
Tony turned to Maria, "Come down!"
"No, please. My mother and father will wake up!"
"Just for a minute!"
"A minute is not enough." (The ponies were on the verge of crying tears of joy.)
"For an hour then!"
"I cannot!"
"Then forever!" Twilight slapped Tony. "Fine, then I'm coming up. Come on Twilight!" She sighed, then followed him up the ladder. She went with the other ponies as Tony and Maria talked.
"This is dangerous," worried Maria "If Bernardo knew..."
"Then we won't let them know," he turned to the ponies "You won't say anything, right?"
Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy did the Pinkie Pie promise, invented by... well, guess.
"But still," Maria continued "You are not one of us. And I am not one of you."
Tony laughed, "To me, you're all the beautiful..."
Twilight heard a Spanish voice. It was Maria's dad. As she shouted some nonsense in Spanish, Twilight turned to the ponies, "Why are you here? I'm here because I thought I was going to be the only one who watched this."
"Come on Twilight, think practical here," Rarity explained "Did you really think we were going to pass this opportunity?"
Twilight didn't respond and turned back to Tony and Maria, the former talking about Maria's dad, "...and he will like me."
"No, he's like Bernardo, afraid," Maria let out a laugh "Imagine being afraid of you!"
"You see?"
"I see you."
"Oh Maria, see only me."
"Here we go!" whispered Rarity "And here's to that I don't faint!"
Maria started singing, "Only you, you're the only thing I'll see forever. In my eyes, in my words and in everything I do, nothing else but you ever."
Tony sang next, "And there's nothing for me but Maria. Every sight that I see is Maria."
Maria sung back, "Tony, Tony."
Tony continued, "Always you, every thought I'll ever know. Everywhere I go you'll be.
Maria joined him, "All the world is only you and me."
They sat down, the ponies all jittery inside. Maria went first, "Tonight, tonight. It all began tonight. I saw you and the world went away. Tonight, tonight. There's only you tonight. What you are, what you do, what you say.
Tony replied, "Today, all day I had the feeling a miracle would happen. I know now I was right."
Tony and Maria once more sang together, "For here you are, and what was just a world is a star tonight!"
"Twilight," Rarity whispered "Do you think you could teleport me and Fluttershy to the Sharks? I'm getting a little dizzy."
"You're right and I need to get back to the Jets," Twilight remembered. "Hold on girls." She cast the spell and the two disappeared.
She turned to Tony and Maria, who were too lost in each other to see her. They were still singing, "Tonight, tonight, the world is full of light with suns and moons all over the place. Tonight, tonight, the world is wild and bright, going mad, shooting sparks into space. Today the world was just an address, a place for me to live in, no better than all right. But here you are and what was just a world is a star tonight."
"Good luck guys," she whispered as she cast the spell.
"Alright, is everyone here?" Riff asked the Jets. They were waiting for the Sharks at Doc's. He looked around, then turned to Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash, "Hey, aren't there supposed to be three of you?"
"Excuse us for just a moment..." replied Rainbow Dash. She pushed Pinkie Pie to the side. Rainbow Dash sighed, "I'm starting to get the feeling she's not coming."
"Hey, look!" Pinkie Pie shouted, pointing to a flash of magenta light. They went over to where the portal to Equestria was. Standing right by the mirror was...
"TWILIGHT!!!!! You made it!" Pinkie Pie squeezed Twilight.
"Did you throw up?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Guess what? I didn't even need to stay for that long! Rarity and Fluttershy were there! But it was nice. The only bad thing that happened was that Rarity almost fainted again,"
Rainbow Dash pushed Twilight and Pinkie Pie to the Jets. "Let's get going! The best song in the movie is about to start! Riff, she's here!"
"It's about time you ponies do something," Riff said.
"You really think he's awesome?" Twilight asked Rainbow Dash "He keeps calling you stupid and useless!"
"Riff's amazing. If he were a pony, I would marry him," Rainbow Dash said like she was in a trance.
"Look everyone! It's Officer Krupke!" Pinkie Pie shouted.
His car pulled over by the Jets. "Hey you!" he shouted.
The Jets went into a frenzy, "Hey who? Who? Me? Him?"
Riff broke the frenzy, "Top of the evening Officer Krupke !"
Officer Krupke pointed to Baby John, "You,"
"Me sir?"
"Yeah you, didn't you hear me?"
"Yes sir, I've got 20-20 hearing."
"Then why didn't you answer me the first time?"
A-Rab came in for Baby John, "Well, his mother told him to never answer back to a cop."
Officer Krupke screamed, "You little wise apple! You want me to turn you in?"
"Indeed not sir."
He looked at all the Jets, "I ought to run all you punks in. What are doing just standing around?"
Riff stepped in, "You see sir, we're afraid to go home. It's such a bad environment."
Snowboy added, "We don't get any love there. It's awful."
Next came Action, "If you don't leave us on the streets, we're liable to turn into a bunch of juvenile delinquents."
Officer Krupke laughed, "I know you guys were cooking something up at the dance tonight, so don't think you're going to put nothing over me." He left for the car, "Oh, and don't let me catch you around here when I get back."
As his car left, Action ran for it, "Hey! Hey! Hey! He forgot to say goodbye!"
A-Rab comforted him, "Those headbusters don't have any manners."
"So what happened, a big fat nothing, right?" Rainbow Dash laughed.
"Yeah," Twilight answered "But suppose he comes back during the war council...?"
"You ponies," Riff giggled "Then we'll snow them some more. You see, those cops believe anything they read in the papers about us. So that's what we give them. Something to believe in!"
Tiger got a rolled up newspaper and imitated Officer Krupke, "Hey, you!"
Riff went up to him, "Me, Officer Krupke?"
"Yeah, you!" replied 'Officer Krupke' "Give me one good reason for not dragging you down to the stationhouse, you punk." He hit Riff with the newspaper.
Riff started singing, "Dear kindly Sergeant Krupke, you gotta understand it’s just our bringing up-ke that gets us out of hand. Our mothers all are junkies. Our fathers all are drunks. Golly Moses, naturally we’re punks.
The Jets joined in, "Gee, Officer Krupke, we’re very upset. We never had the love that every child ought to get. We ain’t no delinquents, we’re misunderstood. Deep down inside us there is good!
"There is good!" Riff shouted.
The Jets sang again, "There is good, there is good, there is untapped good. Like inside, the worse of us is good." They danced around like children.
"That’s a touching good story." Tiger cried.
"Let me tell it to the world!" Riff proclaimed.
Tiger hit Riff again with the newspaper, "Just tell it to the Judge."
"Whose going to be the judge?" the Jets wondered. Pinkie pie raised her hoof. Riff, rolling his eyes pointed to a window where Pinkie Pie could sit.
After everyone was situated, Riff sang to Pinkie, "Dear kindly Judge, your Honor, my parents treat me rough. With all their marijuana, they won’t give me a puff. They didn’t want to have me, but somehow I was had. Leaping lizards, that’s what I’m so bad!
"Right!" Pinkie Pie shouted. She started singing, "Officer Krupke, you’re really a square. This boy don’t need a judge, he needs a analysis’s care! It’s just his neurosis that ought to be curbed. He’s psychologically disturbed!"
"I’m disturbed!" Riff shouted.
The Jets joined in again, "We’re disturbed, we’re disturbed, we’re the most disturbed. Like we’re psychologically disturbed.
The Jets ran around, screaming. Pinkie Pie interrupted, "Hear ye, Her ye! In the opinion of this court, this child is depraved on account he ain’t had a normal home."
Riff was happy about this, "Hey, I’m depraved on account I’m deprived!"
Pinkie Pie hit him with the newspaper, "So take him to a headshrinker." She pointed to Rainbow Dash, "You!"
"Who me?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"You be the headshrinker!"Riff ordered. She, of course listened to Riff and sat next to him as he sang he case, "My Daddy beats my Mommy, my Mommy clobbers me, my Grandpa is a Commie, my Grandma pushes tea. My sister wears a mustache, my brother wears a dress. Goodness Gracious, that’s why I’m a mess!
"Yes!" Rainbow Dash said. She sang to Tiger in a German accent, "Officer Krupke, he shouldn’t be here. This boy don’t need a couch, he needs a useful career. Society’s played him a terrible trick. Und sociologically he’s sick!"
"I am sick!" Riff yelled.
The Jets all sang, "We are sick, we are sick, we are sick, sick, sick. Like we’re sociologically sick!" They danced around again, as Riff lay on the ground.
Rainbow Dash spoke to everyone, "In my opinion, this child does not need to have his head shrunk at all. Juvenile delinquency is purely a social disease."
Riff lifted up his head, "Hey, I got a social disease!"
Rainbow hit him with the paper, "So take him to a social worker!"
"Vich vay?" asked Twilight in a German accent.
Rainbow Dash pointed at her, "That vay." The next thing she knew, she was pretending to be Riff's social worker.
Riff kept touching her face as he sang, "Dear kindly social worker, they tell me get a job, like be a soda-jerker, which means like be a slob. It’s not I’m anti-social. I’m only anti-work. Gloryosky, that’s why I’m a jerk!"
"Eek!" Twilight eked. She sang, " Officer Krupke, you’ve done it again. This boy don’t need a job, he needs a year in the pen! It ain’t just a question of misunderstood, deep down inside him, he’s no good!
"I’m no good!" Riff cried.
The Jets sang, "We’re no good, we’re no good we’re no earthly good. "Like the best of us is no way good!"
They started to argue about Riff, shouting random things, "The trouble is he’s lazy. The trouble is he drinks. The trouble is he’s crazy. The trouble is he stinks. The trouble is he’s growing. The trouble is he’s grown!
The Jets and ponies turned to Tiger, tossed Riff into his arms, and sang, "Krupke, we got troubles of our own! Gee, Officer Krupke, we’re down on our knees.
Riff sang next, "Cause no one wants a fella with a social disease."
Tiger dropped him and he went to sing with the Jets, "Gee, Officer Krupke, what are we to do?" Riff took the newspaper and hit Tiger as he, the ponies, and the Jets sang, "Gee, Officer Krupke, Krup you!"
The Jets were laughing at their role-play, when a voice came, "Are you ready, or what?" Bernardo and the Sharks have arrived.
The Jets and Sharks sat at a table in Doc's Store, the ponies sitting next to the gangs' respective leader. Riff spoke first, a little creeped out Rainbow Dash was scooting her chair closer to him, "We challenge you to a rumble. All out once and for all. Accept?"
"On what terms?" asked Bernardo.
"Whatever terms you call. You crossed the line too often,"
"You started it!"
"Who jumped Baby John this afternoon?"
"Who jumped me the first day I moved here?"
"Who asked you to move here?" asked the Jets "Spics!"
"Mick! Wop!" insulted the Sharks. The gangs lunged for each other.
Twilight stepped on the table, "Whoa! We are not here to kill each other! We are here to discuss how we're going to kill each other. You'll have plenty of time to kill each other at the rumble. But that's later, not now. Got it?"
"Yes, Twilight," grumbled Bernardo and Riff.
Bernardo looked at Riff, "We accept."
"Time."
"Tomorrow."
"After dark." They shook on it.
"See?" Fluttershy asked "You agreed. This could be the start of a new friendship between..." Everyone looked at her. She walked away and cried, "Sorry. Please continue."
"Place." asked Riff.
"The park?" suggested Bernardo.
"The river."
"Under the highway." They shook on it.
"Weapons."
"Hey Doc!" It was Tony. He waved over to Twilight. She waved back.
"WEAPONS." Riff shouted to get everyone back on track. He pointed to Bernardo, "Your call."
"Your challenge."
"Afraid to call?"
"Rocks."
"Belts."
"Pipes."
"Cans."
"Bricks.
"Bats!"
"Clubs!"
"Chains!"
"Bottles! Knives! Guns!" shouted Tony "What a coup full of chickens."
"Who are you calling chickens?" yelled Rarity.
"I'm calling you all chickens! Big, tough buddy boys gonna throw bricks? Afraid to get close? Afraid to slug it out? Afraid to use plain skin?"
"Not even garbage?" asked Pinkie Pie.
"That's not even a rumble!" complained Rainbow Dash.
"It can be clinched by a fair fight, if you got the guts to risk that," Tony explained "Best man from each gang to slug it out."
"I would enjoy to risk that," Bernardo said "Okay, fair fight."
"Fair fight." agreed Riff. They shook on it. "Now, we have to decide, who's battling it out."
"I may have an idea," said Bernardo "If they want to prove themselves useful to us, how about they fight?"
"Good idea!" said Riff.
"Who are you talking about?" questioned Applejack.
Riff stepped in, "We're talking about you ponies!"
"WHAT?????????" the ponies screamed.
Bernardo laughed, "I choose... Applejack for the Sharks!"
"Me????" asked Applejack.
"And I choose... Rainbow Dash for the Jets!" Riff announced.
"Wait," said Rainbow "Out of everypony here, you choose me?"
"Yes!" responded Riff.
"Yes! I'll do it!" Rainbow Dash cheered.
"RAINBOW DASH!!!!!" Twilight pulled Rainbow Dash to the side "Do you really want to risk hurting your friend and yourself?"
"Please Twilight. If win this for the Jets, Riff will be proud of me! Do you know what an honor it is to have Riff be proud of you?" She flew back to the others. "You in Applejack?"
"I don't know... I don't want to fight you Rainbow."
Bernardo turned to Applejack, "Please????? Do this for the Sharks!"
"...Fine. I'm in." she cried.
As everyone left, Rainbow Dash whispered to Twilight, "Come on Twilight, you know I don't want to fight Applejack. You know Tony is going to come in and progress the movie."
"You're right!" Twilight agreed "Thank you so much for understanding Rainbow!"
"Hey, I think Riff and the Jets are the coolest people ever, but I'm loyal to my friends."
Pinkie Pie came in, "Hey! Can you believe it's one in the morning? We better get all the rest we can. Big day tomorrow."
"I'm really excited!" said Twilight. She let out a yawn before running to catch up with the Jets.
Twilight ran outside of Doc's. She couldn't believe what she saw the Jets do to Anita. What else could she do? Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie came for her, "Twilight! I can't believe you did that!" said a shocked Rainbow Dash.
"I know!" replied Pinkie Pie "I don't think I've ever seen you this mad in your life! Did you really have to call the Jets ****ing c***s?"
Twilight tried to explain, but she just couldn't find the words. They heard a voice, but it wasn't saying what it would normally say, "Chino! Come get me Chino!"
"Tony!" shouted Twilight "Over here!"
He was crying trying to find the words, "M-Maria's d-d-dead!" He busted out crying.
"Don't worry Tony, you'll be okay..." Twilight tried to comfort him, but that was only delaying the inevitable.
"Twilight, you're magical," Tony realized "Cast some sort of spell to see if Maria is really dead!"
She wanted to tell him Maria wasn't dead. She wanted to say she's perfectly fine and on her way right now. But she couldn't change the movie. "I'm sorry," she lied.
Tony screamed, "Where are you, Chino? Please, I'm begging you..." He turned around. Maria was walking down, with Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. "Maria!" he called.
"Tony!" she called back. She started running to him. Tony ran as well. The ponies looked at each other in fear. Just as they were about to hug...
BOOM! Tony got hit and fell to the ground, in Maria's arms. "No!" Maria shouted "It's not fair!"
Twilight went up to his dying body. "I thought you said she was dead. Why did you lie to me Twilight?" Tony whimpered.
"I'm so sorry. I needed to make sure..." Twilight started. No, I can't say anything, she thought.
"He's dead!" Maria cried. She turned to Twilight, "He's dead because of you!"
"NO!!!" All of a sudden, Twilight was in the bedroom in the Jets' building. "Whew!" Twilight sighed. It was all a dream. But it was going to happen. There was only one thing she could do. She went to the room Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were sleeping in. "Girls! Get the others and bring them to the portal. I'll explain when we are all together."
After everyone was at the portal, Twilight talked to them, "Girls, we have no reason to be here anymore. We meet the characters and had our fun. I think it's time to go back to Equestria.
"But what about the rumble?" asked Applejack "Rainbow Dash and I have to fight."
"Another good reason to go back home," Twilight explained "I had a dream where Tony got killed and I could have saved him. If we stayed when that happened, I would never forgive myself."
"Then let's save Tony and Maria!" Rainbow Dash said.
"And how are we going to do that?" questioned Fluttershy.
"We make sure Tony never finds out that Anita told the Jets Maria was dead and help them escape, like they wanted to do in the movie!"
"But we can't alter the movie! If we do, then we'll change it all together!" Rarity warned.
"What's the difference? The only ponies who are going to know it changed are us!" Rainbow Dash informed "Come on Twilight! Let's do it!"
"Yeah, come on Twilight!" the others pleaded.
Twilight sighed, "Alright, we'll do it. I'll live to regret this."
Pinkie Pie grabbed Twilight "So, what's the plan chief?"
"We'll keep doing what we have been doing, hanging with the characters, checking in on them, making sure everything goes according to the movie. Rainbow Dash and Applejack are going to fight in the rumble until Tony shows up and everything unfolds as it does. After that, we need to make sure two things happen: Chino gets sent away so Tony can't get shot, and Anita doesn't go inside Doc's and... yeah. Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and I can take care of Anita, while the rest of you take care of Chino. After that, all there's left to do is at least help Tony and Maria cross the bridge by the river. They'll be safe after that."
Fluttershy asked, "Then what?"
"We go back to Equestria." Twilight explained.
"But what if something happens and we can't get to the portal?" questioned Applejack, worried and trembling.
Twilight sighed, "If we can't get to the portal, I'll just try and teleport us there. It probably won't be a problem."
"But... what about Riff?" asked Rainbow Dash, trying to hold back tears.
"We have to let him and Bernardo die." Twilight said "Tony and Maria's urge to leave was because of their deaths."
Rarity continued, "Twilight's right Rainbow! I'm sorry, but there is no other way we can make this happen, darling."
"So..." interrupted Twilight "Are we going to do this?"
"Yeah!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie "I know we can do it! Don't you worry Tony and Maria, we are going to help you!"
The others nodded in agreement. Rarity looked at the rising sun, "Oh no! We better get back to our respective gangs before they wake up!"
She, Applejack and Fluttershy ran toward the Sharks' apartment. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were running back too, when Twilight called, "Girls! Wait! I think I'm going to spend the day with Tony. I'll just wait for him here when he comes to work. I'll meet you right before the rumble. If the Jets ask, tell them I'm touring the city."
"You got it Twilight! See you later! Come on Pinkie Pie!" They left. Twilight sat at the steps, trying to stay awake. She was so tired. The world was coming out of focus...
"Twilight? What are you doing here?" a voice woke up Twilight.
"Oh, hi Tony. Did I fall asleep?" Twilight grumbled.
Tony laughed, "Yeah. How long have you been here?"
"Since sunrise. I wanted to hang out with you today before the rumble."
"Well, thanks. I'm honored. Come on in." Tony unlocked the door and they went in. "So, how are you liking the big city?"
"I think it's very... different from Equestria. Hey, can I help you with work?"
"Of course! Anyone who is willing to work is great in my book! What about the Jets?"
"I'm just with them because I need to stay somewhere while I'm trying to figure out how to get back to Equestria."
"Can't you just teleport?"
"I tried but you can't just teleport from one dimension to another. But I'm sure I'll figure out something."
Tony started to clean the table when he turned to Twilight, "Oh, by the way, where did you go last night? I went to leave when I found you, Rarity and Fluttershy gone!"
"We left to meet the gangs at the war council. By the way, how did it go with her?" Twilight winked.
"It was great! You know that Maria is the person I love the most in my entire life!"
"What about your family?!" Twilight yelled.
"Oh, yeah. Them too."
Twilight laughed. "What are you going to do about Maria?"
"I'm going to meet her at the shop where she works at 6."
Twilight knew what would happen, but she still said, "Oh, dear Celestia Tony. You'll get caught!"
"So, what if do? I'm going at closing time, first of all. Second of all, I don't care if I do."
"Okay, your funeral..."
The door opened. Riff was standing in the doorway. "Twilight! What are you doing here? You're supposed to be with us. The others said you were touring the city."
"Why are you here?" Twilight asked.
"I wanted to see Tony! This is why I shouldn't have trusted you and let you in!"
Tony stepped in, "Come on Riff, let's be reasonable. Why did you want to see me?"
"I wanted to say I'm counting on you to be at the rumble. Please?"
Tony looked at Twilight. She nodded. He turned back to Riff, "Okay!"
"Womb to tomb?"
"Birth to earth!" They shook hands.
Riff turned back to Twilight, "As for you, Twilight Sparkle, if that's even your real name, I am very disappointed in you. Will you at least be at the rumble tonight?"
"Yes," replied Twilight "Sorry Riff."
"Whatever." He left.
Twilight shouted, "I hate him so much! Why is he so mean to me and my friends?"
"He has an enormous pride," Tony explained "Having girly rainbow ponies in his gang might threaten his cool factor. But don't worry Twilight. I think you're alright, no matter how girly you might look. You aren't really that girly at all."
Twilight started crying tears of joy, "Thank you Tony..." She leaped into his arms.
"Oh my gosh, is that the time?" Tony asked. It was 5:55. "I need to see Maria. Will you come with me Twilight?"
"I'd be more than happy to," Twilight answered "Let's go!"
"Are you sure you don't want to come Rarity?" Fluttershy was trying convince Rarity to come with her to the bridal shop to witness sweet songs in the movie.
"Don't worry Fluttershy. I need to help Applejack train for the rumble. Besides, I only wanted to see "Tonight" and that's all I need to see."
"Okay..." Fluttershy went across the street to the store. Anita was working at the register.
"Fluttershy! How can I help you?" Anita asked.
Fluttershy stuttered, "I-I want to s-s-see M-Maria..."
"She's in the back," Anita replied.
Fluttershy went to the door and heard talking. She knew what is was all about. She opened to the door, "Maria?"
Maria went up to Fluttershy and hugged her, "Oh, hello my dear Fluttershy!" Maria kissed her on the checks.
"...Is she alright?" asked Fluttershy.
Francesca sighed, "The poor girl is out of her mind!"
Maria laughed, "I am! Crazy!"
"She might be at that," Rosalia added "She looks somehow different."
"I do?" Maria asked.
"And I think she's up to something."
"I am?"
"'I do?' 'I am?' She talks like a parrot!" Francesca said.
Consuelo questioned, "What is going on with you Maria?"
Maria started singing, "I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty. I feel pretty and witty and gay. And I pity any girl who isn't me today. I feel charming. Oh, so charming. It's alarming how charming I feel, and so pretty that I hardly can believe I'm real." She ran to a mirror and continued singing, "See that pretty girl in that mirror there? Who can that attractive girl be? Such a pretty face, such a pretty dress, such a pretty smile, such a pretty me! I feel stunning and entrancing. Feel like running and dancing for joy, for I'm loved by pretty wonderful boy!"
Maria danced around as the Fluttershy and the girls sang, "Have you met my good friend Maria, the craziest girl on the block? You’ll know her the minute you see her. She’s the one who is in an advanced state of shock. She thinks she’s in love. She thinks she’s in Spain. She isn’t in love, she’s merely insane.
"It must be the heat," sang Rosalia.
"Or some rare disease," sang Consuelo.
"Or too much to eat," sang Francesca.
"Or maybe it’s fleas," sang Fluttershy.
Maria went into the closet as the others sang, "Keep away from her. Send for Chino! This is not the Maria we know! Modest and pure, polite and refined, well-bred and mature, and out of her mind!"
Maria came out wearing a tiara. "Miss America!" the others shouted. They lifted her up onto the table and shouted, "Speech!"
Maria sang again, " I feel pretty. Oh, so pretty that the city should give me its key. A committee should be organized to honor me. I feel dizzy. I feel sunny. I feel fizzy and funny and fine, and so pretty, Miss America can just resign! See the pretty girl in that mirror there?"
"What mirror? Where?" the others asked.
Maria sang, "Who can that attractive girl be?"
The others kept asking, "Which? What? Where? Whom?"
Maria sang once more, "Such a pretty face, such a pretty dress, such a pretty smile, such a pretty me! I feel stunning and entrancing. Feel like running and dancing for joy, for I’m loved by a pretty wonderful boy!"
The owner of the store, Madam Lucia, came in, "Stop singing and get out! It's closing time!"
Everyone left except for Fluttershy and Maria. They went out to Anita. "You go, I will lock up with Fluttershy. I have work," Maria pleaded.
"Fine. I'm going to take bath and go on a date with Bernardo after the rumble."
Maria sighed, "Why must they fight?"
As Anita shrugged, Fluttershy heard the door out back open. As she turned around, she saw what she expected: Tony and Twilight in the doorway. Anita saw them too and mocked Maria, "'You go, I will lock up.'"
Twilight stepped in, "We just came from the drugstore to drop off aspirin."
Tony smiled, "Don't worry Twilight. We're fine. In fact, we're out of this world! 12 feet in the air!" He hugged Maria.
"You won't tell, right?" Maria asked.
Anita sighed, "Tell what? How can I know what goes on 12 feet over my head?" She left as Tony, Maria, Twilight, and Fluttershy cheered.
Maria went to Tony, "Are you going to that rumble tonight?"
"We all are," answered Fluttershy "Why?"
"I want Tony to stop it."
"I did," Tony replied "It's just a fist...er... hoof fight between Applejack and Rainbow Dash,"
"We can't just let two little ponies fight," reminded Maria "Please Tony? For me?"
Tony said, "If it means that much to you, I'll do it! Afterwards, I'll come over."
"I'll wait on the roof," said Maria.
"Oh no. I'll come to your house."
"You cannot. My mama."
"Okay, I'll take you to my house."
"Your mama?"
Tony shrugged. Fluttershy gave a worried look to Twilight as if to say, "This isn't what he did." Twilight knew she had to do it. She pulled over a mannequin in a green dress and addressed the Puerto Rican lovebird, "She'll come running from the kitchen waiting to greet you!"
Tony laughed and continued, "Yeah, she practically lives in the kitchen. She'll look at you and try not to smile. She'll say, 'Skinny but pretty!'"
"She is plump, no doubt." Maria commented.
Tony extended the dress to look large and responded with only one word, "Fat." Twilight and Fluttershy fell down and laughed.
Maria went to a small purple dress, "I take after my mother, delicate-boned." She turned to a suit and laughed, "I would like to see Papa in this!"
Tony went up to the suit and talked to it as if it were actually Maria's dad, "May I have your daughter's hand?"
"He said yes!" Maria said almost instantly "What about your mama?"
"I am afraid to ask."
"Tell her she isn't getting a daughter, she's getting rid of a son!"
Tony went up to the mannequin of his mother, whispered to it and turned to Maria, "She said yes! Now, the maid of honor."
As Tony dragged a mannequin of a pink dress into the center of the room Maria sighed, "That color is bad for Anita."
"And the best man!" Tony picked up the mannequin of Maria's dad.
Maria screamed, "That's my Papa!"
"Ooh!" At these words, he put down the mannequin, but took the hat and talked to it, "Sorry Papa..." As Maria got out a veil Tony got another suit, "Here you go Riff. Womb to tomb."
"He doesn't deserve to be a part of this wedding," Twilight complained. As Tony gave her a sour face, she changed the subject, "I'll marry you two, being a princess."
"I'll take care of the music!" Fluttershy offered.
Tony and Maria got in the middle of the mannequins as Fluttershy hummed "Here Comes The Bride" and Twilight began, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witnessed to weeding of To- Anton and Maria. Now, the bride and groom will say their vows."
"I, Anton, take thee, Maria . . ".
"I, Maria, take thee, Anton . . ."
"For richer, for poorer . . ."
"In sickness and in health . . ."
"To love and to honor . . ."
"To hold and to keep . . ."
"From each sun to each moon . . ."
"From tomorrow to tomorrow . . ."
"From now to forever . . .
"Till death do us part."
Tony pretended to slide a ring on Maria's finger, "With this ring, I thee wed."
Maria did the same, "With this ring, I thee wed."
Tony made a request to Twilight (by singing!), "Make of our hands one hand. Make of our hearts one heart. Make of our vows one last vow. Only death will part us now."
Maria continued with the song, "Make of our lives one life. Day after day, one life."
The two lovers sang to each other, "Now it begins, now we start: One hand, one heart. Even death won't part us now."
Twilight (on the verge of crying), concluded, "By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife! You ma-!" They were already kissing. Twilight turned to Fluttershy and nodded. She nodded back, and ran out. Twilight, again, took one final look at Maria and Tony before teleporting to the Jets.
"You need any help getting up?" Baby John asked Pinkie Pie. They were under the main highway, which meant... it was time for the rumble! They only thing standing in their way was... a giant. wall. The Jets could easily hop up, Twilight and Rainbow Dash could fly up, but Baby John was a little concerned about Pinkie Pie (In fact, he was the only Jet who seemed to like the ponies!).
Pinkie Pie laughed, "Don't worry about me! Watch this!" Pinkie Pie jumped and rose all the way up to the top of the wall. As the Jets stood in shock, Twilight and Rainbow Dash flew up. At the ground stood the Sharks and the other ponies. Both gangs stared at each other for a bit before the Jets came down to the ground. Rainbow Dash went in the center, followed by Applejack from the Sharks.
Riff went into the middle as well, "Alright you two freaks of nature, shake han- shake hooves!"
Bernardo pushed Applejack away as she was about to reach Rainbow's hoof, "What for?"
Riff laughed, "Well, that's the way it's done!"
"Ah, more gracious living. Now look here, Every one of you hates every one of us, and we hate you right back!"
"Are you sure?" asked Pinkie Pie "Cause I think Riff and Bernardo have... you know... the feelings."
Everyone stared at Pinkie once again, this time with bewilderment. "Group huddle!" Twilight yelled to break the awkwardness.
"Hey!" Riff yelled back "Only I can call a group huddle. Group huddle!" The Jets got together. Riff addressed Rainbow Dash, "Okay Rainbow. Prove you're useful. Win this for the Jets! Beat the crud out of the apple fetish girl!"
"Anything for you Riff!" smiled Rainbow Dash. She looked over at Twilight. She was motioning for her to come over. "Excuse me for just a moment..." She flew to Twilight and Pinkie Pie.
"Remember, don't hit Applejack. Tony will be here shortly." reminded Twilight.
Rainbow Dash laughed nervously, "Yeah, about that..." She got stern, "You know what, I'm not going to let Riff die! Even if it means I have to beat up Applejack!"
"But Rainbow Dash, what about our plan?" complained Pinkie Pie.
"Forget the plan! We'll figure out a way!" Rainbow Dash flew back to Applejack, "Let's do this!" The two fighting ponies circled around each other. Rainbow Dash was about to make a punch when...
"STOP!!!!!!!!!!" Tony got in the middle of Applejack and Rainbow Dash.
"Tony, what are you doing?" asked Rainbow Dash.
"Maybe he's found the guts to fight his own battles." Bernardo responded.
"Alright, cool it!" Riff interrupted "The deal was a fair fight between Rainbow Dash and Applejack."
Bernardo ignored him and turned back to Tony, "Afraid, pretty boy? Are you chicken?" he shoved Tony.
"I don't want to fight! There is nothing to fight about!" Tony cried.
The Sharks gathered around Tony, "Chicken! Chicken! Chicken!"
Riff went up to Bernardo and punched him in the nose. The two gang leaders stared at each other. They drew out pocket knives. Tony tries to stop them, "No stop!" Action and Ice held him back.
"Alright, new plan," Twilight announced, "STOP THEM!!!!!!!!" The ponies tried pulling Riff and Bernardo back, but the gang members got a hold of them first. The next thing they knew, the ponies were behind a fence, with Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy's wings tied back. "I'll try and melt the bars." As Twilight was working, Riff had Bernardo pinned to the ground. He was about to stab him when Tony pulled Riff back. Riff punched Tony and Riff charged toward Bernardo. Unfortunately, Bernardo's knife found its way into Riff's stomach. Riff put his knife into Tony's hands and collapsed onto ground.
"Do it Tony!" Rainbow Dash was leaning against the fence, her face drenched in tears, with many more coming out of her eyes. Tony took one look at Bernardo, and soon enough, Tony's knife was penetrated into Bernardo's back. As he collapsed to the ground, both gangs wrestled each other, like back when the ponies first came into the movie. But, that was soon stopped by the sound of sirens. Both gangs stood for a moment and ran away, leaving Tony, the ponies, and the dead bodies of Riff and Bernardo.
Twilight finally opened a hole in the fence. All the ponies ran to Tony. He kept looking from Riff, to Bernardo, to the knife in his hand. Finally, he broke down and shouted, "MARIA!!!!"
As the ponies rolled their eyes, Twilight went to Tony, "Tony! We have to go!" He nodded and cut Twilight, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash's wings free. Twilight approached her friends, "Alright, Fluttershy, go to Maria and tell her what happened. Applejack, Rarity, send Chino on his wild goose chase. The rest of us need to go find the Jets."
As everyone dispersed, Tony called, "Twilight!" She stopped and turned to him as he continued, "Will you stay with me?" She nodded and walked to Tony. He grabbed her and hugged her very tightly. "Twi... I... can we... go...?"
"You want to see Maria?" Twilight asked almost immediately. Tony nodded. "Okay. Let's get going. The cops are almost here." She cast a teleportation spell just as the car's lights shined on the area.
When Fluttershy heard Twilight's instructions, she flew faster than she ever flown before. But maybe she was going a little too fast. The minute she saw Maria on the Sharks' roof, she couldn't slow down. "Look out Maria!" Fluttershy called, though in a very small voice. She slammed into Maria, knocking her to the ground.
Maria looked up at Fluttershy, messed up mane and dirt everywhere. "Fluttershy, you have been fighting? That's not like you," Maria questioned as Fluttershy shrugged.
Fluttershy was scared to death to reveal the sad truth, all she could get out was, "The rumble..."
Maria laughed as she got to her feet, "There was no rumble."
Fluttershy flew up so her eyes were at the same level as Maria's, "There was. Nopony meant for it to happen, and... You see..." she was on the verge of crying.
"Maybe if you say it really fast,"
" A fight.... Bernardo... a knife..."
"Tony!" Maria grabbed Fluttershy "Fluttershy, what happened to Tony? Is he alright!?"
She punched Maria in the jaw, trying to make her come to her senses, "HE KILLED YOUR BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!"
As she flew downstairs, she could hear Maria following her, "You're lying. Why are you lying to me?"
They both stopped on near Maria's room where they could hear people talking in Spanish. One said, "Bernardo muerdo." (Bernardo is dead).
"NO!" Maria cried. She ran into her room, Fluttershy close behind. She went to her statue of Mary and Jesus and prayed, "Please don't make it be true. I will do anything. Let me die. Make it not be..." She stopped as she saw two black shoes and four lavender hooves in her mirror's reflection. Twilight leaped to the side as Maria started punching Tony, "Killer! Killer! Killer! Killer!"
"I tried. I really did," Tony explained "I didn't mean to kill him. But Riff was like my brother. Bernardo didn't mean it either. I just want you to forgive me so I can go to the police..."
"DON'T LEAVE ME!!!!" Maria cried.
"Oh, Maria, I love you so much!" As they hugged, Twilight and Fluttershy stared at each other awkwardly. Tony continued, "I'll do whatever you want."
"Hold me."
"Oh, forever!"
"Tighter."
"It's okay, we're really together now."
"But it's not us. It's everything around us."
As they kept hugging, Fluttershy motioned to Twilight, as if to say, "He's not saying it. Do something."
Twilight got into the middle of the two, "They you can get away, where not anyone or anything can hurt you." As the two stared at her in bewilderment, Twilight sang the only song from the movie she knew by heart, "There's a place for us. Somewhere a place for us. Peace and quiet and open air. Wait for us, somewhere. There's a time for us. Someday a time for us. Time together with time spare, time to learn, time to care. Someday! Somewhere we'll find a new way of living. We'll find a way of forgiving somewhere . . ."
Tony and Maria looked to each other and finished the song, "There's a place for us. A time and place for us. Hold my hand and we're halfway there. Hold my hand and I'll take you there somehow, someday, somewhere!" They both collapsed onto the bed, kissing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, outside Maria's apartment, Applejack and Rarity sat on the steps at the front door. Chino came running to the door and saw the two ponies, "Applejack! Rarity! I'm so glad you're okay!"
Applejack replied, "Back at you. I just can't believe Bernardo's dead."
"Between killing him and messing with Maria, if it's the last thing I do, I'm gonna get that Polack!" He pulled out a gun.
Rarity smiled at Applejack and then looked to Chino, "You know what I saw? AJ and I were on the way here when we saw Tony getting into a taxi saying 'Coney Island'." Bernardo had shown them a map of New York earlier that day, so Rarity made sure she picked a spot far away.
"I know what to do. If anybody asks, I'm going to Coney Island." Chino ran away.
"Go Chino! Avenge Bernardo!" Rarity screamed.
"And don't come back until Tony is dead!" Applejack yelled.
"I won't!" yelled back the faint voice of Chino.
Applejack and Rarity kept waving until Chino was out of sight. Applejack turned to Rarity, "I can't believe that actually worked!"
"I know," Rarity agreed "Let's get inside. Maybe we can go see Maria and Tony."
They were about to go inside when they heard Anita's voice, "Rarity? Applejack? Are you back from the rumble?"
They both turned around. "Yeah!" said Applejack.
"Did you win? Where's Bernardo? I expected him hours ago."
The two ponies laughed a nervous laugh. "Listen, Anita," Applejack explained "Sit with us. We'll explain everything the best we can..."
While all of that was going on, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were looking for the Jets. "Oh my Celestia, Rainbow Dash!" Pinkie Pie complained "Why are you being such a big baby? You knew Riff was going to die!"
"Shut up!" Rainbow Dash was still crying about... well, you know why "Look! I think I see A-Rab and Baby John!" Sure enough, there they were, in the alley on next to the playground.
"Hey guys!" Pinkie Pie said "Is Baby John crying?"
As A-Rab slapped Pinkie Pie, Baby John addressed the little group, "Did you get a look at their faces?"
"Whose?" asked A-Rab.
"Riff and Bernardo, at the rumble."
Rainbow Dash started sobbing, "I wish it was yesterday!"
"I'm scared," Pinkie Pie started crying too.
Baby John talked again, "What are we going to do?"
A-Rab said, "We're going to find the other Jets and meet up! Rainbow Dash, do you think you can fly up and find the others?"
"I'm on it!" Rainbow Dash flew up and look around the neighborhood. Finally she spotted the other Jets, at a parking lot about 10 blocks away. She called to the other three, "I found them, follow me!"
When they reached the other Jets, Mouthpiece went up to the four, "Have you seen Tony?"
As they shook their heads, Gee-Tar laughed, "Did you see him? He really came through for the Jets. Just like Riff said... he... would."
Everyone hung their heads down for Riff, silenced followed for a minute or two, interrupted only by the sound of Rainbow Dash sniffing. Big Deal broke the silence, "Nobody was supposed to get killed."
"Those Sharks are going to PAY!!!!" Tiger screamed.
"Didn't we have enough for one night?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"Are you scared?" Snowboy questioned.
"Hey! Leave her alone!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
The Jets started arguing when a pot came from a window above them. The person in it shouted, "Shut up down there, you dirty good-for-nothings!"
Action yelled back up, "Who are you calling good-for-nothings!?" The Jets started arguing again and Ice pushed them inside the garage. Action ranted, "I swear the next creep who calls me hoodlum, who dares to look at me funny..."
"YOU LAUGH!" Ice turned on headlights from multiple cars as he kept talking, "Yeah, now you all better dig this and dig it good. No matter who or what is eating at you, man you show it and you are dead. You are cutting a hole in yourselves for them to stick in a red hot umbrella and open it wide. You want to get past the cops when they start asking about tonight? Play it cool. You want to live in this lousy world? You play it cool."
"I want to get even!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
"Get cool!" replied Ice.
"I want to bust!" yelled A-Rab.
"Bust cool!" replied Ice.
"I want to go!" yelled Action.
"Go cool!" replied Ice. He started singing, "Boy, boy, crazy boy, get cool, boy! Got a rocket in your pocket, keep coolly cool, boy! Don’t get hot, cause man, you got some high times ahead. Take it slow and Daddy-o, you can live it up and die in bed! Boy, boy, crazy boy, stay loose, boy! Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it, turn off the juice, boy! Go man go, but not like a yo-yo school boy. Just play it cool, boy. Real cool!" Ice started snapping, the rest of the Jets followed him (Rainbow and Pinkie stomped their hooves on the ground to imitate snapping). Action slammed his fist on one of the cars. "Easy, Action," warned Ice. A couple of Jets did a little dance. A-Rab looked like he was going to freak out. Ice turned to him, "Cool it, A-Rab!" A-Rab started dancing The Jets, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie joined him.
After a few minutes of that, everyone in the garage started singing, "Boy, boy, crazy boy, stay loose, boy! Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it, turn off the juice, boy!"
After a little more dancing, Ice finished the song, "Just play it cool, boy. Real cool!" The Jets snapped some and Ice ordered, "Let's go." They all left and started walking down the street. Ice continued, "All right, the first thing we should do is..."
He was interrupted by a loud "HEY!" It was Anybodys, the teenage tomboy who wanted to be a Jet.
Rainbow Dash whispered to Pinkie Pie, "Where was she this whole movie?"
As Pinkie Pie shrugged, Joyboy shrugged off Anybodys, "Go put on a skirt!"
"I got scabby knees, now listen!" Anybodys continued.
Baby John ignored Anybodys and talked to Ice, "Pinkie Pie is right. Didn't we have enough?"
Ice laughed, "The question isn't whether we had enough."
"The question is: where's Tony and what party is looking for him?" Anybodys shouted.
Action turned to her, "What do you know?"
"I know I got to go buy a skirt," Anybodys said.
Rainbow Dash flew up to her, "Come on, spill it!"
"Okay. l hear Chino tell the Sharks something about Tony and Bernardo's sister. And then l hear Chino say, 'lf it's the last thing l do, I'm gonna get that Polack.' And then he pulls out the bad news." Anybodys holds her thumb and pointer finger like a gun.
"Those PRs just won't stop!" Snowboy complained.
"Not until we stop them!" Pinkie Pie proclaimed.
"Hold on!" Ice ordered "Tony came through for us, now we have to come through for him! We need to find Tony before Chino does. A-Rab and Baby John, you cover the river. Snowboy, the docks."
"I'll take the back alleyways!" Action yelled.
"Big Deal and I will take the streets." Tiger proclaimed.
"I'll cover the park." said Joyboy.
"The schoolyard!" Mouthpiece and Gee-Tar said at the same time.
"Pinkie Pie, Ice, and I can wait for you all at Doc's!" Rainbow Dash said.
As everyone ran off Anybodys ran to Ice, "What about me?"
Ice thought for a while, "ln and out of the shadows. Maybe you'll find Tony in one of them." He smiled at Anybodys, "You've done good buddy boy."
Anybodys smiled back, "Thanks, Daddy-O." As she ran off, Ice nodded to the two ponies, signaling them to run with him to Doc's.
Back in Maria's room, it has been almost an hour, yet Twilight and Fluttershy were still traumatized. "I know they hinted at it in the movie, but I didn't think they actually did it," Twilight has said for the tenth time. Fluttershy wasn't listening, for she was crying on the ground.
A voice came through the door that made Tony and Maria awake, "Maria? Are you in there?" It was Anita.
"Yes," Maria softly answered.
As she made out with Tony some more, Anita called again, "Open the door. I need you."
Twilight signaled Tony toward the window. He nodded then whispered to Maria, "Twilight's right. We should go so far away, where they'll never find us."
"But how?" Maria whispered.
"Doc will help us with money."
"Will we meet at his store?"
"Yeah, Twilight and I will wait for you and Fluttershy there."
He went to the window and kissed Maria some more. Twilight tugged him, "Oh will you come on!"
"Hurry!" Tony shouted. Twilight tugged him out the window.
"Coming Anita!" Maria said as she opened the door. Anita was there, with a suspicious look on her face, along with Rarity and Applejack, both with worried faces.
"The door has ears, you know," Rarity said as Anita and Applejack looked out the door. Outside was Twilight and Tony talking to Anybodys. Anita gave Maria a face that said, "Really?"
Maria stood up tall, "Alright, now you know."
"And you still don't know," Anita shouted "HE IS ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!" She started singing, "A boy like that, who’d kill your brother. Forget that boy and find another, one of your own kind. Stick to your own kind! A boy like that will give you sorrow. You’ll meet another boy tomorrow, one of your own kind. Stick to your own kind! A boy who kills cannot love. A boy who kills has no heart. And he’s the boy who gets your love and gets your heart. Very smart, Maria, very smart! A boy like that wants one thing only. And when he’s done he’ll leave you lonely. He’ll murder your love. He murdered mine. Just wait and see. Just wait, Maria. Just wait and see!"
Maria stood up and sang, "Oh no, Anita, no. Anita, no! It isn’t true, not for me. It’s true for you, not for me. I hear your words and in my head I know they’re smart. But my heart, Anita, but my heart knows they’re wrong. You should know better. You were in love or so you said. You should know better. I have a love, and it’s all that I have. Right or wrong, what else can I do? I love him. I’m his, and everything he is. I am, too. I have a love and it’s all that I need. Right or wrong, and he needs me too. I love him. We’re one. There’s nothing to be done. Not a thing I can do but hold him, hold him forever. Be with him now, tomorrow, and all of the my life!"
Anita started crying. Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rarity went up to her and sang, "When love comes so strong, there is no right or wrong. Your love is your life!"
Anita smiled at the ponies, then turned to Maria, "Chino has a gun. I heard the boys talking. He is hunting for Tony."
"He's at Doc's store, waiting for me!" Maria got angry "If Chino touches him, I swear I'll..."
"You'll do what Tony did to Bernardo?"
"I love Tony."
"I know... I loved Bernardo."
Everyone heard the door open. Lieutenant Schrank's voice followed, "Anybody home?" Anita went out. He continued, "Bernardo's sister please."
"She isn't feeling well," Anita said.
Maria and the ponies came out. Shrank spoke to Maria, "Good evening miss. I'm Lieutenant Schrank. I don't mean to disturb you at a time like this, but..."
"Yes, this is a very bad time," Maria interrupted.
"Can you just excuse me? I just have a couple of questions."
"Afterwards, please, I must go to my brother now."
"Just a minute."
"CAN'T YOU WAIT?!?!?" Anita shouted.
"Yeah," Applejack continued "Besides, me and my gals were at the rumble, not her! If there is anypony you should be asking the questions, it us!"
"Okay then," Shrank said "I'll ask you questions as well."
"Wait to go Applejack," Rarity whispered sarcastically.
"Excuse me," Maria excused "Anita, my headache is much worse. Will you go to Doc's Store for me?"
"Don't you keep aspirin around?" asked Schrank.
"This is something special," Maria explained "Anita, will you go for me?"
Anita sighed, "What should I ask for?"
"Doc will know," said Maria " Doc will know. Tell him l have been detained and can't get there right away, or l would have picked it up myself." As Anita left, Maria turned to Schrank, "I'm sorry, you were saying."
Schrank started, "At the gym last night, your brother got into an argument because you danced with the wrong boy. Who was he?"
"Another from my country."
"And his name?"
"Jose."
Rarity whispered to her fellow ponies, "How long will this take?"
"Don't worry, the others will make sure Anita doesn't enter Doc's," Fluttershy whispered back "At least, I hope they do? Oh my Celestia, what if they don't? Tony is a goner!"
Meanwhile, at Doc's Store, the Jets, including Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie were chilling out. All of a sudden, Action came running in, "Can't find him. He isn't anywhere."
Ice smiled, "He's right down in the cellar, safe and sound."
"I found him, and Twilight was with him," Anybodys said with pride.
Action laughed, "What are they doing in the cellar?"
Rainbow Dash shrugged, "Keeping the mice company, I guess."
"No sign of Chino, right?" Baby John asked.
As Ice shook his head, Pinkie Pie spoke to the group, "Rainbow Dash and I will make sure Chino or any of those PRs don't show up."
"Good thinking Daddy-O!" A-Rab said as the two ponies went outside.
Anita was coming down the block. As she saw the ponies she said, "I'd like to speak to Doc."
"Why?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"I need to deliver a message,"
"Are you sure it's so important?"
"Just let me inside."
"I'm sorry but you can't go in!"
"You don't understand! I want to help you!"
Rainbow Dash flew up to her, "I understand that, but we want to help you! Listen, Pinkie and I know that you want to see Tony and tell him Maria is going to be delayed."
Anita was confused, "What? How do you..."
Rainbow Dash continued, "It doesn't matter how we know. What matters is that we are on your side. We know that if you go in there, you will get hurt. We will deliver the message to Tony. Okay?"
Anita sighed, "I shouldn't, but I trust you. Tell Tony that Maria has been detained and can't make it right away." They both nodded and she walked away.
"Great job Rainbow Dash," Pinkie Pie commented, "You really have redeemed yourself from almost ruining the plan at the rumble by trying to beating up AJ."
"Thanks," Rainbow Dash sheepishly smiled "I'll be right back, you keep your eye out for Maria and the others." She flew to the cellar door and opened it, "Tony! Maria is going to be a little late. Is that okay?"
"Yeah..." Tony said, really confused as she flew away. He turned to Twilight, "Is she helping us? I thought she was with the Jets."
"Yeah about that," Twilight frowned "Tony, I think it's time I told you the truth. Why my friends and I are really here."
"I thought you got misplaced here and you don't know how to get back to Equestria."
"I lied to cover up the insane truth. We didn't get misplaced, we chose to come here..." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Down the street from Doc's, walking there was Maria and the ponies, having the same conversation as Tony and Twilight. Fluttershy finished, "So, now we are going to help you two escape."
"Do you believe us?" asked Applejack.
Maria laughed, "I can't even thank you enough right now. You came all the way from your world to here to help us?"
"Not at first," said Rarity "But we would feel so guilty if we let Tony die and not do anything to stop it."
"GIRLS! OVER HERE!!!!!!!!!" Pinkie Pie called. She and Rainbow Dash helped the others het down to the cellar.
As Tony and Maria hugged each other, Twilight spoke to the ponies, "I told Tony what we were really doing here."
"We told Maria," Fluttershy said.
Applejack addressed the entire group, "Tony, you got the money from Doc?" He nodded and she continued, "So, all that's left to do is get out of New York. Anypony got a plan?"
"I got one!" said Rainbow Dash "Follow me!" The group followed her out and away from Doc's. she screamed at the top of her lungs, "YO, TAXI!!!!!!"
A taxi pulled up and everyone got in. "Take us to the other side of that bridge," Rarity said to the taxi man, pointing to the George Washington Bridge.
As the taxi passed Doc's, Pinkie Pie shouted, "STOP!!!!" She turned to the passengers, "You're gonna get a laugh out of this!" She rolled down her window and called, "Hey Jets! Look who we have!" The Jets came out of Doc's and saw Tony, Maria, and the ponies in the taxi. Their jaws opened as Pinkie Pie stuck her tongue out at them. "DRIVE!" Pinkie Pie shouted to the taxi man. He continued down the road as everyone laughed.
"Pinkie Pie," said Twilight "Are you sure it was safe to do that?"
"Relax," smiled Pinkie Pie "You worry too much."
"No I don't!"
"You kind of do," smirked Rainbow Dash, causing everyone to laugh again.
As the taxi was going over the bridge, everyone was just enjoying the ride. Tony was talking to the ponies, "You know what we're gonna do in the country, Maria and me? We're gonna have lots of kids, and we're gonna name them after each and every one of you! That goes to show you how grateful we are of you guys!" He turned to see Twilight wasn't listening. She was writing something. "Hey Twilight, what are you doing?" Tony asked.
"Writing a letter." Twilight smiled "Do you want to read it?"
"Sure!" He took the letter and read it out loud, "Dear Princess Celestia, I know I haven't wrote a friendship report since I became a princess, but I just learned probably the most valuable lesson I have ever learned: Never be afraid to break what's normal or accepted if it means doing the right thing. Especially if it's to help your friends. If you just stand by and watch something bad happen to a friend, it could really hurt, or even kill, them. Just trust your guts and fix it. Your faithful student fellow princess, Twilight Sparkle." Tony handed the letter back to Twilight, "It's perfect."
"Here's your stop!" the taxi man said. The group got out and the taxi left.
"Are you sure you can take it from here?" Rainbow Dash asked.
Maria replied, "Yes, thank you. Besides, you girls need to go back to Equestria."
"Oh, yeah," Pinkie Pie frowned, "I forgot about that."
"Thank you so much for everything you have done," Tony thanked "We are never going to forget you!"
"And we'll never forget you," Fluttershy smiled.
"Ooh, let's take a picture to make sure we remember this forever." Rarity said as she held a camera selfie-style with her magic, "Say, Tonight!"
"Tonight!" everyone shouted as Rarity took two pictures. She gave one to Maria and Tony and put the other one away.
Tony grabbed Twilight and hugged her, "I'll miss you most of all."
"Same here," responded Twilight "Always remember Tony, there is no supernatural in this world, but anyone carry the most powerful magic of all." He smiled and put her down.
"Goodbye," said Tony and Maria.
"Goodbye!" the ponies shouted as the two lovers ran away into the distance.
"Alright girls, hold onto me!" Twilight said. The others grabbed onto Twilight and she teleported them away. They came back to the front of Doc's.
"Let's get to the portal before the gangs come," Applejack whispered.
"Too late!" a voice said. The ponies turned around to see the gangs, blocking the away to the portal. Pinkie Pie pulled her party cannon and blasted the gangs in the face. They fell down, letting the ponies run to the portal. The gangs got up and ran after them. They eventually got to that shard of mirror the landed them in New York two days ago.
Twilight was about to go in, but she stopped. "What are you doing Twilight?" Rainbow Dash yelled "Freedom is just a couple hoofsteps away!
Twilight turned to the Jets and the Sharks, "Why do you hate? You're different? You want the street? Whatever it is, it's childish! If it weren't for your negligence, not only would Tony and Maria still be here, BUT RIFF AND BERNARDO WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!!!!!!!! I hope you are happy with yourselves." She went into the portal, her friends followed her.
Ice stuck his hand out to the portal. He couldn't get through. It was closed. He turned to Pepe and held his hand out, "You want to get some soda at Doc's?" Pepe nodded and took Ice's hand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in Equestria, Spike was cleaning the castle when the portal started to glow. Out came Twilight and her friends. She took the DVD out of the connecter and the portal stopped glowing. Spike cheered, "You made it back! How was it? Did you meet the characters? What did you do?"
"We'll tell you later when we aren't so tired," answered Twilight. She turned to her friends, "Watch to the movie again and see if there is any... changes."
As her friends and Spike left the room, she noticed Sunset Shimmer's book glowing. There was a new message inside, "Dear Princess Twilight, Missing you already, and I hope you'll be back soon. Things are definitely looking up for me here at Canterlot High. But I know I still have a lot to learn about friendship. Hope you don't mind if I write to you for advice when I need it. Your friend, Sunset Shimmer."
Twilight grabbed a quill and wrote back, "Dear Sunset Shimmer, I am so glad to hear this great news! I wanted to thank you for West Side Story. My friends and I watched it and absolutely loved it. It spawned quite the adventure, but that's a story for another day. Write to me whenever you want. Your friend, Twilight." As she set the book down she heard a gunshot. She ran into the throne room shouting, "Girls! Is everything okay?!? I heard a gu-" She looked at the TV. On it was the scene where Tony died. "We didn't change the movie?"
"Not at all," said Applejack "Although, we might have to go through the entire thing to make sure..." She and the others and a smile.
"You want to watch the movie again?" asked Twilight. Everyone nodded as Twilight took her seat to re-watch her new favorite musical, the way it always was.
