Chapter 1: The Mysterious Mirror

View Online

Day One

It was a cold, winter day in Ponyville, the weather team had scheduled for a snowstorm to fly over town tonight, and I didn’t want to be caught outside in a storm like that. As if on cue, a snowflake fell onto my muzzle eliciting a giggle from me.

"Better hurry before the storm hits." I said to nopony in particular as I giggled, recalling an excited Rainbow Dash helping me last year when I couldn't find my way home during one of these storms.

She was a nice pony, I liked her, maybe too much but I still thought of her as a nice pony who would do anything for somepony else.

"Speak of the maker, look who it is..." I mused to myself seeing Rainbow resting on one of the clouds high above.

She must have heard my hoof steps as I trotted along the path to my neighborhood as she turned her head to look down from her comfy perch on her makeshift bed.

"Hey Melody, how's it hangin'?" she asked with a grin on her muzzle.

"I'm fine, and I'm mighty jealous of you being able to sleep on those comfy clouds. All I have is an old stiff mattress. How are you?" I looked up with a smirk plastered on my face. She smiled back giggling at my playful remark.

"Nothing too special, just making sure the storm's on time- Hey, wait a minute, you’re a Pegasus. Well... sort of. Why don't you just fly, like, ever?" Rainbow said as she looked back towards me, a confused look on her face.

Tis true, I'm a Nocturne Pegasus that can't fly. My wings are only powerful enough to get me but a few inches off the ground. I've been told that the hospital's unicorns could fix me, but I liked myself the way I was.

I looked at my athletic friend with an annoyed look and replied "I can't. Don’t you remember? My wings are too weak."

"I still don't see why you haven't already gone to get that fixed. Speaking of which, Why haven’t you?" She asked, cocking her head to the side. While it's true I don't want to fix my wings, I never really knew the exact reason.

"I don't really know Dash, but I really need to get home soon before the storm gets too much for me to handle." I said with a smile.

"Okay, if you say so" she said, before turning back around to face the sky.

The rest of the trip home was uneventful per usual living on the outskirts of Ponyville. My house is a two story rustic log cabin with large windows and a cobble pathway leading to two large Prench style oak doors with ornate carvings and beautiful brass handles. Walking up to the front door and unlocking it, I stepped inside, closing the doors behind me.

I trotted into my large rustic-styled kitchen, eager for my evening meal. I took the blood bags I had gotten from the hospital's blood bank out of my saddle bags and placed them in the ice box, leaving one on the counter for me to drink.

Yes, I am a vampony, but all the rumors and legends are not true. How so, you may ask? Because as you can tell, I was just walking outside with the sun out. And silver can't really harm me. Plus holy objects don't phase me much either. But one fact remains true... And this fact is a blessing and a curse…..Immortality.

I don't mind living 'till the end of time, but it's sad to see close friends die of old age, while your still looking young and untouched by time.
I took the blood pack and emptied it into a large crystal glass before I sat down at the large cherry wood table where today's newspaper sat unread. I looked at the front page and read the title, "Mysterious Wheeled Machine Appears in the Canterlot Gardens! Suspected to be placed there by the Mystery Alicorn!"

Ah, the Mystery Alicorn has once again succeeded in getting front page news. This mare has succeeded at somehow revealing my secret to all of Ponyville, helped Princess Twilight with the restoration of the sisters castle in the Everfree forest (by restoration, I mean rebuilding all the secret entrances and traps), and has managed to keep her identity completely unknown.

I began to drink the contents in my glass when something caught my eye. There was a faint white glow coming from under my bedroom door. I continued to stare at the door for a few more moments before downing the entire glass and slowly approaching my room. I held my hoof out to open the door, but before I could even touch it with my hoof, it slowly opened with a loud creaking noise. What I saw next stunned me and made me freeze.

My large, full body mirror had a faint glow coming from it and the mirror itself had a rippled look as though it were made of liquid chrome.

"What in Tartarus..." I whispered to myself, slowly entering the room. The door closed behind me, making it seem even more creepy. I carefully approached the mirror and made sure to keep a decent amount of distance between me and the mirror. I stopped a few hooves in front of the mirror and stared at it for a moment.

Curiosity got the best of me and I reached out to touch it. When my hoof made contact with the mirror, it sent ripples throughout the surface, like calm water being disturbed. I reached out again, but put my hoof all the way through, only for the rest of my body to be pulled into the mirror.

My vision was overtaken by darkness, my ears were ringing loudly, and my body felt like it was being squeezed through a small hole. I clenched my eyes shut, hoping this would be over soon. After my ears stopped ringing and I felt a cold breeze, I reopened my eyes and my three and a half thousand years of being alive could have never prepared me for what I saw next.

Chaper 2: A Strange, New World

View Online

When I regained my consciousness I noticed the ground underneath me, it wasn't the normal flooring of my house. It felt much harder. Curious as to where I was, I opened my crimson eyes. The first thing I noticed is that I was on.... the top of a building? As my wonder grew I began to look around at my surroundings.

There were a lot of buildings like the ones in Canterlot. But the things that stood out the most were the giant clock tower that was a hundred times bigger than the one in Ponyville, with large hands along it's massive ornate clock face. Then there was the massive bridge over the just as enormous river, with a giant Ferris just off the side that could easily be the biggest I've seen in my lifetime. After being awestruck I noticed that there were things moving around on the streets below, these weird bipedal creatures that reminded me of the creatures that Lyra had described to me. I think she called them hoomans, humus, hunans...humans! I giggled as the memories of Lyra's speech about them came to mind. Although these humans looked a little different from what she described.

As I look down over the street, I had leaned in a bit closer to get a better view of these humans. They looked so strange and scary yet at the same time.....comforting. I noticed that I was pretty high up and that they must be really tall, probably taller than Princess Celestia. I wanted to get a closer look at them, so I leaned in just a bit more to get a bit of a better view. Soon after doing that I heard a loud noise come from behind me that made me jump and lose my grip on the side, next thing I knew I was over the edge and falling.

The second I was over the edge I closed my eyes, causing my fall to feel like forever. When I finally hit the ground.... It was soft for some odd reason, softer than I thought it would be. When I opened my eyes to see what I had landed on, there were two humans on both sides of me that looked like they were carrying the thing I landed on. I was so scared that I immediately began to run past the group of humans that had gathered around to look at what all the commotion was.

(Serah's POV)

It was a wonderful day today, and it was my first day off this month. I always had my little secret hideout on the roof of my apartment building. The view was perfect from my relaxing spot. I got to see the English channel and watch the boats pass through, and got to see the London Eye spin in it's stationary position. When I opened the door to my special get away, I stopped dead in my tracks as I noticed something that made me do a double take. 'Is that a.......pony?' Then I noticed something that surprised me that much more. 'Are those......batwings?'

The moment I realized that I wasn't hallucinating from over exhaustion, I dropped the pack of water I was holding. As it hit the ground it made a loud *BANG* noise as it started its tumble back down the metal stairs. The second I heard the noise, so did the pony that was leaning dangerously over the edge of the building looking down at the streets below. I screamed in horror as I saw the pony suddenly lose its balance and tumble over the edge to the street below. I ran to the edge as fast I could. When I looked down I noticed that the pony had survived the fall by luckily landing on a mattress two workers were carrying.

Almost immediately, the pony had gotten back up and began to run down the road in the direction of an old construction site. I ran as fast I could down the stairs to the ground floor. Outside where the poor pony had fallen were a group of reporters and the people that were moving the mattress. My only guess is that they were talking about the pony that fell on them not moments ago. But that didn't matter to me as I ran to where I last saw the pony trotting off to.

---»×«---

(Melody's POV)

As soon as I cleared the crowd, I headed to what reminded me of a construction site. As I ran to it, I hoped it was abandoned so I could hide from everything. As the adrenaline wore off I began to feel so weak and tired and I wished this was just a big nightmare and I would wake back up in my bedroom. I had to stop to catch my breath from all the running I just did. After a few moments, I heard a noise behind me and I fell silent, hoping that I was just imagining the sound.

Suddenly I heard a loud crashing sound followed by somepony cursing before they began running again. I turned my head in the general direction of the noise to see if whatever made that sound was following me. When I looked back I saw a human coming towards me, so I began to run again. Little did I know there was a large wall in front of me and when I turned my head back to the front to see where I was going, I collided with the wall and for the second time today, blacked out.

(Serah’s POV)

After I got to the site I saw the pony with wings panting a few meters away. I started to walk closer, but stubbed my toes on a metal pipe and cursed out loud. The pony must have heard me because it started running again. It looked back towards me with fear filled eyes, as it turned its head around and it took off, but failed to notice the large brick wall in front of it as it collided with it at what appeared to be its top speed. The poor thing hit the ground almost immediately, probably knocked out from the collision. As I ran over to it I saw a small amount of blood and a gash on its head. When I knelt down next to it something else caught my eyes, 2 pairs of fangs mixed in with its teeth. I pondered for a moment as I pieced everything together. Bat wings, fangs, what's next?

I didn’t know how to react but I did know one thing, I can’t leave it here. It’s too dangerous for something so strange and fragile to be out here alone. I carefully picked the sleeping bat-pony thing up into my arms and headed for my apartment. Trying to avoid as much attention as possible, I took to the alley ways and entered the apartment buildings back entrance.

After sneaking through the back and going up the emergency stairwell, I made it to my floor and walked over to my apartment.
I unlocked the door and walked in, setting the pony down on the floor and slipping a pillow under her chin. I walked back to the door closing it and securing the deadbolt, returning to the pony on my floor with a bandage in hand, I quickly wrapped up the wound on her head. After finishing, I pulled out my phone and tried to call one of my friends but all I got was her voicemail, so I hung up the phone and put it down on my dresser in my bedroom. I then sat myself down in a chair and played the waiting game...

---»×«---

(Melody's POV)

I awoke with a small gasp and began to realize that I wasn't at the construction site anymore. I panicked and looked around and I noticed that there was something on my head. I didn’t know what it was, but it was really soft. I raised a hoof to touch my forehead to figure out what this thing was, but before I could touch it, a voice that sounded like it belonged to a mare came from behind me

"Oh, good, you're awake." A relieved voice let out.

I quickly turned around and saw a tall human. She looked like the human I saw chasing me before I ran head-first into a wall. I’m guessing she’s a female because of the tone of her voice.

"Can you understand me?" She asked, a hint of concern in her voice as I tilted my head.

I nodded slowly receiving a small, feminine squeal from the human. She started to walk towards me but stopped dead in her tracks as something started ringing in the other room.

"I'll be right back, okay?" she told me in a hurried tone, I simply nodded so she could walk out of the room. When she walked into the other room where the ringing was coming from, it was quickly replaced with her saying:
“Hello?”

Wondering what was going on, I slowly got up and made my way over to where the human had gone. When I arrived in the doorway, I looked at her and the human was talking into something I had never seen before. Something that looked brick shaped but made of a weird colorful glass...

(Serah's POV)

As I began to walk to the batpony I asked. “Do you understand me?” I was hoping against all odds that it would. Seeing it give me a nod at me was reassuring. But then my phone decided to be an ass and ring. I looked at the door to my bedroom knowing that it was in there.

“I’ll be right back, okay?” seeing it nod again, I hurried into my room and grabbed my phone from atop the dresser.

When I looked at who was calling I saw that it was Gracie, and immediately got a little bit excited at the thought of help. I called her a little over an hour ago when I got the batpony into the house.

I answered the phone and quickly said, “Hello?”

“Hey Serah, it’s Gracie. I saw that you called earlier and decided to call back when I got home from work.”

“Oh hey Gracie, how was work?”

“Hard!”

“Ok, well I understand that you want to just relax then, but I need your help with an animal.”

“Don’t tell me you started collecting stray dogs or something.”

“No, no. It’s…..different. Just please hurry and get over here.”

“Ok, I got some tools at the house to help. I just got to grab them and I’ll be on my way.”

“Thank you Gracie, bye.”

“Bye!”

---»15 minutes later«---

I was sitting on my chair, watching the pony poke the bandage I had put on its head while wrapped up in a blanket I gave her earlier, when I heard a knock on my door.

“Who is it?”

“It’s me Serah.” Gracie said sarcastically through the door.

I got up quickly and jogged over to the door, as I opened it I greeted my friend.
“Hi Gracie, I’m sorry to bug you after work but I really need help with this.”

“It’s no big de-…”

I looked at Gracie as her jaw dropped and her brow climbed her forehead. When the pony noticed Gracie it jumped and looked like it wanted to hide and disappear.

“Serah……How did you get a pony, in the middle of the city?”

“I found her.”

“Where and when!?” Gracie asked frantically with a confused expression.

“Earlier today, I found her on the roof of the complex.” I replied honestly.

“How the hell did she get up there without anybody’s help!?” Gracie exclaimed.

“Maybe with these.” I said as I walked over and lifted the blanket off the pony, revealing its wings. Once again Gracie’s jaw dropped and her eyes shot wide open. All was silent until Gracie broke the silence.

(Melody’s POV)

“What. The. Flying. Living. Fuck...”

“That’s what I thought when I first saw it. But that’s not where it ends either, it has teeth Gracie.”

‘Of course I have teeth, how would I eat if I didn’t have teeth.’ I thought as I heard the original human now known as Serah, say those words.
“All equines have teeth.” Gracie said starting to come down on the surprise chart a bit.

‘Thank you miss………I think your name is Gracie. I would talk myself but I’m sort of scared by both of you, so I’m going to stay silent.’

“Not just normal teeth, but sharp, fang like ones. If you don’t believe me take a look.”

‘Oh she was talking about my fangs' I watched as the person I think is Gracie, walked up to me and got a little close but not to close, I guess she could see me shaking like crazy. I wanted to just hide, but I felt as if I just did as they asked they might let me go.

“And Gracie, if you talk to it, it’ll understand you.”

‘Could you please stop calling me it!? At least call me by my gender-given title, her and she please!’
Gracie appeared to ponder this then asked me,
“Will you please be a good little….pony and open your mouth?”

Unsure and a little afraid, I slowly opened my muzzle. But when I heard a gasp I quickly shut it, looking at them with questioning eyes with a hint of fear in them trying to figure out what was going on. I watched as Gracie stood up and grabbed Serah by her front foreleg and took her into the room that ringing thing was, and then shut the door. I didn’t know what to do so I just sat there, confused.

(Serah's POV)

"What in the bloody hell is that... thing Serah!?"

"I don't know. Your guess is as good as mine!"

"Well whatever the hell it is, it has fangs and wings for Christ's sake!"

"So, it can understand us! Maybe we can talk to it and ask what exactly it is, I mean do you even know what gender it is, it could give us those answers?"

"I do know the gender! It’s clearly a female, I mean didn’t you see the teats on her, just like that of a female horse's…except smaller. And Serah, do you know how insane you sound right now? Because I'm pretty sure you've passed an exam on insanity!" Gracie exclaimed in a hushed tone.

"But Gracie, it’s……..she's hurt and needs help! Just please listen to me ... please?"
Serah had a pleading look until Gracie finally caved in with a sigh of defeat.

"Fine, I'll see what's wrong with her and help you take care of her."

"Oh, thank yo-" Serah was cut off by Gracie holding her hand up and looking at her with stern eyes.

"Under one condition..."

"What's that?" Serah said with a curious and concerned tone.

"I get to visit a few times a week to see our little friend." Gracie said with a semi-excited tone.

“Didn’t you just question her existence?”

“Yea, but I find her kinda cute.” Gracie commented, saying half of the sentence almost in a whisper while trying to stifle the urge to squeal.

"Wha... but you just..." Serah sighed, confused at her friends antics."Fine, Just promise me you can keep this all a secret?"

---»×«---

(Melody's POV)

I couldn't really hear what the conversation was about or any of it at all really. I was curious about how my current predicament was going to play out and thought about where I'm going to be staying. I wondered what they were going to do to me. I mean, they seem nice, but their acting like they've never seen any kind of pony before...

As the questions played out in my mind, I failed to notice the two humans approaching. When Gracie appeared in front of me, I jumped a bit before she asked me, "May I take a look at your head sweetie?"

I nodded hesitantly and watched her reach out with a….. I think Lyra called them hands, and she lifted a bit of my mane up to look at my forehead where the bandage was. Once she had her hand on the bandage she assumed it was bad because of the size of it.

"It looks like she hit herself pretty hard Serah." Gracie commented, hoping she was wrong.

“Can I remove the bandage from your head cutie?” Gracie asked as she looked back to me with a soft and friendly gaze.

I nod hesitantly and let her move my mane and remove the bandage, I felt a little bit of pain as the bandage was taken off but nothing too bad. After doing so she looks down and into my eyes, shock finding its way onto her face.

"Wow, her eyes.. they're..." she trailed off as Serah walked over.

"Red..." Serah finished for her friend before she too was mesmerized by me.

"And her pupils, their slitted..." Gracie said.

I quickly turned the other direction, blushing slightly.

"Hey, it's ok... I’m just trying to look at what was hidden under the bandage sweetie." Gracie said with a soothing voice.

“Holy shit Gracie, that looks deep...” Serah winced.

“Yeah, it is. Hmm, I wonder if she’s got a name." Gracie pondered as she opened her first aid kit. I look at her with an ‘are you serious’ expression, raising an eyebrow for emphasis, my head pulsing with pain. Gracie grabbed a needle and surgical suture and proceeded to thread the needle.
"Melody." I said in a whisper that was not even audible as Gracie began stitching up my forehead.

"Gracie did you see that?" Serah asked with excitement.

“No, I’m sowing up her head. What happened?”

“Her mouth moved as if she was saying words.” Gracie looked back at her friend and says.
“Now I know you’re crazy Serah, ponies don’t….” the two stop arguing when they hear an un-familiar voice.

"My name is Melody Sweetblood." I say a little louder this time. Serah fainted and fell onto the couch as I spoke, and Gracie... she was just staring at me because I spoke?

“ahhhhhh, how did you get hurt……..Melody?” Gracie asked as she decided to just continue at her work.

"I was running from somepony and I... I think I hit a wall."

"Somepony? Who was that? Do you remember what they looked like?"

“Mhm, it was her.” I pointed to the woman on the couch, to which Gracie gave a glare in her direction.

“What about your eyes, weren’t they a different color earlier?”

“I’ll tell you in a bit, I’m sure you both have a lot of questions for me...” I replied meekly.

---»30 minutes later«---

The two humans asked lots of questions after Gracie got Serah to re-join the living. They wanted to know where I came from, how I got here, why my eyes looked like they did, why I had fangs... the look on both their faces as I said I'm from another world...PRICELESS!

"How come your eyes change color? And where'd you get the fangs?" Gracie asked with interest.

"Well, I'm... um... a... Vampony..." I hoped they didn't freak out or try to kill me, but instead, they gave me blank, awestruck faces.

Chapter 4-Day One: My First Night in this crazy world

(Melody's POV)

I yawned and started nodding off when Serah and Gracie took notice and Serah scooted closer to me.

"So, um... where would you like me to stay?" I questioned.

Serah and Gracie both jumped at my words. Apparently they forgot I can talk.

"Uhhh... hmm, I didn't think of that...I can sleep on the couch and you can take my bed until we figure something out. Does that sound good?" Serah asked.

"Oh no, I don't want to impose..."

"Or since both of you don’t want the other sleeping on the couch and I can see this argument going on forever, how about both of you share the bed until then. That is…..if you aren’t going to make a meal of Serah." Gracie said sheepishly.

“Oh Celestia no, I don’t plan on doing that. That would be just awful of me to do that, especially since she has been so nice to me.” I said, then I looked at Serah to see what her response would be.

"Hmmm... it should be big enough... what do you think Melody?" Serah looked over to me as I put a hoof to my chin in thought.

"Are you sure it’s big enough? I mean if it's alright with you, that sounds just fine, but how are we both going to fit in one bed?" Serah looked at me for a moment before replying.

"Oh no worries, I think we can manage" she said with a forced smile.

(Serah's POV)

I looked at the talking bat-pony with a forced smile after telling her not to worry about the both of us fitting in my bed, because it was just big enough for me to roll around on at night. It's not like I don't want to sleep with her, or that I’m afraid of her. I just don't want her to have to sleep on the couch. I looked at Gracie for some sort of sign or intervention, but I got nothing.

"Well, I guess it's time for bed.” I finally commented seeing how dark it was outside. “See you later Gracie."

"Later Serah!"

I got up from my spot on the couch and walked Gracie to the door, locking it after she exited. I then turned to face the cute bat-pony that was currently about to fall asleep on my couch. "I think it's time for us to go to bed. What do you think?" I asked the soon to be snoozing bat-pony.

"I think that's a great idea." she said while yawning. I got a good look at her fangs as she yawned, and man were they sharp.

"So... how often do you ahhhh... you know... have to... feed?" I asked sheepishly, a hint of embarrassment flooding into me at the thought of her fangs piercing my neck, making my legs quiver.

"Oh! Don't worry! I only need to feed on occasions. I can live off of normal food for a while too, if that's what you're worried about." she said hurriedly.

(Melody's POV)

I stifled a yawn again as I reassured Serah I could eat normal food. She seemed a bit relieved about that.

"Well, we can sort all that out later. It's time for bed, and I don't know about you, but I'm tired." Serah said as she too yawned as if to emphasize her point.

"Show me the way and I'll follow." I replied back.

I hopped off the couch and followed her down the hall. She stopped in front of a small door and opened it up to reveal a small, but cozy room with a large bed in the back corner of the room.

"What's mine is yours I guess. The bathroom is the last door on the right if you need to use it." she said in a low, tired tone.

She walked into the room and sat on the bed, patting the spot next to her invitingly. I slowly cantered into her room, noting the ornate cherry wood dresser to my immediate right. And to my left, an old cello stood idly on its stand with a thick layer of dust.

"You play the cello?" I asked, intrigued by my favorite instrument.

"Yes, but I haven't played in several years. I'm too busy to sit down and play." she admitted sadly.

"May I play it?" I asked with excitement.

"Can you even play?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

I gave her a look of incredulity and repeated myself, "May I?”

She took a minute before replying, "Sure, just be careful, it's very old."

I squealed with joy like a filly as I trotted over to the large instrument. I picked it up gingerly as I took the bow in my right hoof and reared myself up on my hind legs, leaning a bit on the cello for support, I then began to play each string and checking to see if it needed tuning. To my satisfaction, it didn't need to be tuned, so I began to play a beautiful song I knew when I played for Princess Luna when she was just a filly.

When I finished, I noticed Serah staring at me with her mouth agape, and a look of pure surprise plastered to her physique.

"How'd I do?" I said with a huge grin but thinking I had done terribly, regrettably showing my fangs, a fearful gaze from Serah told me she was a little too frightened to answer.

"Oh, my apologies, I forget I have these sometimes..." I mused, looking away from her apologetically.

"Oh, it's fine. You played wonderfully Melody. Where did you learn to play?" She asked as she got up from the bed to approach me. I felt something touch my cheek and my head was forced to look into Serah's soft gaze.

"I... I, um... I used to play for Princess Luna when she was a filly about, um, a few thousand years ago. I was just naturally good at playing I guess." I said as Serah adopted a surprised look.

"A………a……a few…... a few thousand years?" She whispered.

"Why yes, in fact, I even played at her 3,172nd birthday last year" I said with a small grin. She looked at me for a few moments before speaking again.

"You mean to tell me that you and this 'Princess Luna' are a few thousand years old?" She asked with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, and I believe I was 263 when I last played that song. Ah, Luna was a restless little filly, always refusing to go to bed. I was the only one who knew how to get her to go to bed and actually fall asleep." I said with a giggle.

"Wow... so, are there any other people you know that are as old as you?" Serah questioned.

"'People'? There are no 'People' in my world that I'm aware of, only Ponies. And yes, there is also Princess Celestia, the Solar Goddess. She rules beside her younger siser, Luna. And there is another Vampony I know…..her name is Vinyl Scratch. She's a DJ in Canterlot." I finished, yawning after answering Serah's question.

"I see you're tired. C'mon, let's get to bed."

I nodded and put the cello back on its stand carefully and hopped onto the bed, scooting under the covers as Serah climbed in beside me.

"Good night Melody" Serah said as she yawned.

"Night Serah. Thanks for taking care of me, I really appreciate it."

"You're welcome dear." Serah replied with another huge yawn.

I snuggled close to Serah as we both retreated to the dream world with Serah draping an arm around me in her sleep...

Ch. 5

(Melody's POV)

As I woke up I thought of the terrible nightmare I had, with the humans and their crazy world. But when I regained my senses fully, I realized I wasn't in my own bed, but rather Serah's. 'Oh horsefeathers! That wasn't a dream. I was hoping it was. Ugh oh well.’ I noticed that Serah wasn't in bed beside me and grew curious as to where she went. ‘Mmmmm. What’s that smell' I thought as I sniffed the air, a delicious scent making my muzzle salivate.

I tried to stand up on the bed, but found that I couldn't balance myself in time and fell to the floor with a painful thud. I heard hoofsteps coming from beyond the door and the doorknob moving. Serah stood in the doorway with an amused look on her face moments later.

"Having troubles?" Serah said with a smirk on her face.

"No no, I just lost my balance. That's all." I said as I tried to stand back up.

"Okay, well I got bacon and pancakes in the kitchen cooking so I better go and check up on them before they get burnt" ooooh pancakes! Though, I wonder what bacon is? I ponder this while following Serah down the hall towardss the delicious smell.

"Hey Serah."

"Yes Melody?"

"Umm... what's bacon?" Serah looked at me with a curious look.

"Um... huh, I don't know how to explain it, but it tastes really good. You can try it if you'd like?"

(Serah's POV)

As we made our way to the kitchen, the fragrance of the food was assaulting my sense of smell, making me have to clean the saliva from the corners of my mouth. When we were finally in the kitchen, we were greeted with the food I had started to make earlier. I looked back at Melody as she let her nose lead the way and made a banging noise where she impacted the wall, blocking the hit with her face. She then quickly jumped back from the surprise and began to rub her nose with her hoof where she hit.

“Hehe, are you ok there Mel?”

“Yes Serah, I’m fine. I only ran into the wall.” she said in a matter-of-fact tone with a sarcastic looking smile.

“I saw that, and heard it. Are you sure? I can get some ice.” After getting a denial for the need of ice, we began to make our way further into the kitchen.

Melody walked- err trotted in and sat down on her haunches in a chair at the table, I made my way to the stove determined not to let the food burn. When I finished making the delicious pancakes and the food of gods aka bacon, I put them on two different plates and then got out a pair of forks, knives, and plates. I placed them down and then looked at Melody and resisted the urge to face palm, then silently giggled at the thought of Melody eating like a little piggy, so I decided to leave the utensils there and grab them as I cleaned up.

“Melody?”

“Yes Serah?”

“How many pancakes would you like?”

“hmmm... Three please.”

“And the bacon?”

“Ummm, just give me one so I can taste it.”

“Okay.” As I gave her the requested amount of food, I was thinking about little miss Piggy again.

After I put my food on my plate; which was five pancakes and ten pieces of bacon; I looked up and dropped the plate from the sight of the weirdest shit I’ve seen in my life.

(Melody’s POV)

I was about to take the first bite of my delicious food when I jumped at the sound of a plate shattering on the floor. When I looked up I saw a disturbing sight. Serah was standing there looking at me with twitching eyes.

“H……H……..HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?” I winced at the sound of her yelling, and just kept looking at her.

“What do you mean, Serah?”

“HOW ARE YOU HOLDING THE UTENCILS? YOU HAVE NO FINGERS!” on realization I put the fork down and show her.

“Umm….I simply put my hoof on it with the intentions of picking it up and using it.” I simply stare at her like she should have known, as if it was common knowledge.

“NOT WHY, HOW.” I blinked and continued to look at her with a confused look.

“I…..I don’t know exactly, no one thought of figuring it out.” After the huge fiasco and Serah cleaning up the mess and making herself another plate of food, we began to eat.

After devouring the pancakes I decided to be a little bold and tried a small bite of bacon. I wasn't prepared for the explosion of flavour that assaulted my muzzle. I murred with pleasure at the taste.
“Mmmmm~, what is this bacon made of? It’s delicious!

“Yes it is, I love the stuff.”

“What is it made of?”

“……………..”

“Serah, what is bacon?”

“It’s part of a pig.”

I stared at her as the thought ran through my mind, a blank look on my face. Bacon is meat from a pig? Huh, who knew they tasted this good.

“Melody, are you okay? I didn't break you did I?” Serah asked with concern.

“……………”

“…………Melod-”

“Okay.” I interjected.

“……………………You’re not going to freak out?”

“Serah, I already feed on blood from animals, do you think eating a part of one of them is really going to affect me? Besides, it's delicious.”

“I was at least expecting you to spit it out in disgust or something.”

“Why? I like it.”

“Because you’re at least half horse, and horses don’t eat meat.”

“I’ll eat you.” I teased with a sultry tone and gaze.

“What?” Serah replied with a cute blush.

“What.”

“Did you just say you’d eat me?”

“Maybe~”
I smirk and raise my brow mockingly.
“Would there be a problem if I did?”

Serah looked at me questioningly before continuing to eat her pancakes.

“Well, that depends… if what you mean by that is just sucking my blood then maybe, but if it's what I think you mean…”

My smirk grows and I wink.
“No promises~” I teased.

She only gives me a distant look as we continue eating our breakfast

After finishing our breakfast, Serah took our dishes to the sink and sat back at the table. “So…”

“Yes?” I tilt my head to the side as Serah fidgets with her thumbs nervously, looking down at the table.

“How did you get to the roof yesterday? I mean you have wings, but… you didn’t use them when you fell down.”

I grimaced at the memory and the ensuing facehoof to follow. “I don’t really know… One moment I was at home enjoying my dinner when my mirror in my room started glowing, and when I touched my hoof to it, I was pulled through and woke up on the roof. And well, you know the rest...” I smile sheepishly and rub my foreleg awkwardly with a hoof.

She seemed to ponder this for a moment before perking up, “Wait, you mean your mirror turned into a portal and teleported you here?” she asked with clear confusion. I nod and sigh. “But, what about when you fell? Why didn’t you just fly?”

I flinched and my wings fidgeted at my sides “I um… I don’t know how to..” I confessed honestly.

She froze and had a shocked expression before shaking her head and blinking a few times, “How do you not know how to fly?” she asked cautiously.

“I mean, I know how to use my wings and I can kinda hover off the ground, but I can’t really fly very well…and my wings aren’t able to carry me properly anyway even if I wanted to.”

Serah sat there silently for a moment before getting up and giving me a comforting hug, “I’m sorry Melody.. I didn’t know. I don’t mean to sound insensitive... “

I wave it off with a hoof and smile “It’s okay, I’ve never really had the need to fly anyway so it doesn’t bother me much.”

Serah smiled and sat back down next to me with a small smile, “Well, if you ever need anything at all, please don’t be afraid to ask me, okay?”

“Thank you Serah, I really can’t tell you how much I appreciate all your help. If there’s anything I can ever do to repay you at all-”

She cut me off with a kind smile and a dismissive wave of her hand “Nonsense, you don’t need to do anything at all hon. Right now though, I’m more concerned about that wound on your head. How are you feeling by the way?” she asked with genuine concern.

I rub the bandage on my head softly with a hoof before responding, “It’s a little sore, but I’ll be okay.”

“Mind if I look at it?” she asked, getting up from her seat to kneel in front of me. I nod before she begins removing the bandage carefully. I wince from a twinge of pain as the dried blood clings to my fur and the bandage. Serah apologizes before setting the soiled bandage aside and looking over my injury.

“Ouch… That looks worse than it did yesterday..” She commented as she walked to the sink and grabbed a clean towel before soaking it in warm water. After a moment she returns to me and begins gently dabbing the towel to my forehead, cleaning the dried blood from my fur. I wince in slight pain and try not to move much as she worked, resorting to biting my lip to stifle a yelp when the sutures get caught on the rag for a moment.

Serah finished wiping away all the blood and smiled “There, all clean. Now, let’s get you a clean bandage.” she said before retreating down the hallway for a moment, returning with a first aid kit. She opens the box and takes out a large cotton wrap, gently holding it to my head as she begins slowly wrapping up my wound, cutting it and tucking the end under the rest before rubbing behind my ear softly. “All done,” she said with a smile.

I coo softly and lean into her hand with a blush, which she noticed and continued rubbing my ear, scritching softly in just the right spot to make my hindleg twitch reflexively. Serah giggled before smiling down at me, “Enjoying yourself?” she teased.

I blush more and look away sheepishly “It feels so good... “

Serah giggled more before sitting back down in her chair. “So, I have the day off work today. Anything you wanna talk about?” she asked

I sat in silence for a moment as a million thoughts bounced around in my head, but one came to the forefront of my mind. “Actually, I had a couple questions if you don’t mind me asking?”

She nodded and smiled in response. “Well… I hadn’t seen anypony when first waking up… can you tell me where here actually is?” I asked with genuine curiosity.

She perked up a bit and frowned. “Well, We’re in London, England dear."

I hung my head with a sigh, “I guess I’m not going back to Equestria anytime soon then…” I sulked as my situation had finally dawned on me fully, with the realization that I can’t get back home on my own easily.

Serah reached over and gently held my cheek in her palm, “Hey, I’m always here for you hon. I might not know how to help get you home, but at least I can be a shoulder to cry on if you need it.”

I smiled weakly and nuzzled her hand, just staying silent and enjoying her company for a moment as I thought about everything that has happened thus far.

A few moments passed before Serah spoke up. “So, you’re a sweet vampire bat pony that enjoys bacon and ear scritches hmm?” she giggled, “Maybe I should give you more attention then to help get you out of that depressive funk you’re in.” she said playfully with a knowing smirk, to which I blushed in response and only got more giggling in return.

“You are just too cute when you blush like that. I swear you’re gonna make my heart explode from cuteness overload!”

I’m not cute..” I reply with a blush, blowing a raspberry at her like a foal.

Serah just giggled and booped my snout. “Very cute~.”

I sigh and rest my head on the table “Though I still can’t believe the mirror took me to another world… I’m really gonna miss all my friends back in Ponyville...”

Serah looked at me with a confused expression. “Ponyville? Is that where you’re home is?” she asked with curiosity.

I nodded in confirmation. “Mhmm, I lived there for quite awhile, at least recently. I also served the Princesses long ago until Princess Luna became Nightmare Moon and grew evil and was banished to the moon by her sister Princess Celestia for a thousand years. That’s about the time I fled the Sister's castle, because thestral bat ponies were looked down upon after Luna’s fall.”

Serah sat there in awe at what I had told her, a look of genuine interest adorning her features as I continued. “After that I went into hiding for a few hundred years in the Everfree Forest until finally being discovered by a sweet unicorn who convinced me to come to Ponyville. Her name was Vinyl Scratch, she was my first friend in a long time.”

“Wow, you’ve been through a lot then haven’t you? I can’t even imagine being around as long as you have.” Serah said.

“Immortality is both a blessing and a curse in many ways. It can be hard sometimes dealing with the loss of so many close friends, watching as they grow old while I stay young… Though, The Princesses along with Vinyl Scratch and a few other close friends have always been there for me when I needed them most.” I said with a sad smile, remembering the joyous day of Princess Luna’s return after her one thousand year absence, and all the fun Vinyl and I had when Luna came to Ponyville on Nightmare Night.

Serah listened with a sad smile on her face before thinking of something to say, “Sounds like you have great friends Melody... I think they’ll find a way to bring you home. I mean, who wouldn’t miss such an awesome bat pony like you?” she said while reaching over and rubbing my ear with a small smile on her face.

I smiled and leaned into Serah’s hand, relaxing with a soft sigh, “You know what? I bet you’re right. Knowing Vinyl, Rainbow Dash and the others, They’re all probably rushing to find a way to bring me back home as we speak.”

Serah smiled and rose from her chair before wrapping me up in a tight hug, “And just know I’m here for you as well hon, and will do my best to help you as much as I can.”

I smiled and nuzzled into her chest softly with a happy sigh, glad that I have such amazingly supportive friends by my side. I looked up to Serah before responding, "Thank you so much Serah, I don't know what I did to deserve such kind treatment."

Serah pet the top of my head and rubbed behind my ear softly, making me melt under her touch for a moment as we relished each others company.

{Serah's POV}

After making the cute batpony some breakfast and comforting the poor thing when talking about her home, I sat with her at the dining table while idly rubbing her big fluffy ear, "So, what would you like to do for the rest of the day? We can watch movies or play a few games?"

Melody looked confused for a moment at the mention of movies. "You have movies? I thought they could only be played at theaters?"

I smirk and begin walking into the living room, "Follow me and I'll show you what I got." I said as the batpony mare got up from her seat and followed close behind.
We entered the living room and I grabbed the TV remote, pressing the power button to turn it on. Melody sat on her haunches and stared agape at the flat screen as the local news channel came on and showed what the weather was looking like. Cold and snowy.

"What is that Serah?" She asked while pointing her hoof at the TV.

"It's a Television dear, it's kinda like what you'd have at a theater but much smaller and can play anything you want to watch." I reply while flipping through a few of the channels to show what I meant. Melody just sat in awe at the mysterious device with a cute expression before climbing up onto the couch next to me. I smiled and pat her head, "So, anything that sounds interesting to you?" I asked.

Melody thought for a moment before replying, "How about something funny?"

I switched the channels to a comedy network that played funny movies, Will Ferrell's movie Elf began playing on screen.
Melody just watched with interest as she leaned against my side, my hand slowly running down her back as I stroked her fluffy mane softly. She purred like a cat and nestled closer against my side while watching the screen with a curious expression on her cute face.
I smiled down at her and continued stroking her soft mane as we watched the TV for a bit longer, simply enjoying each others company.

{Hours later}
As the credits rolled signifying the end of the movie, I let out a soft yawn and stretched my aching limbs, my stomach letting out a growl as I checked the old-fashioned grandfather clock against the wall near the TV. It read a little past 1 in the afternoon, so I began thinking of what to make for lunch. "Hey Melody, you hungry for anything? I was gonna make myself something for lunch."

"Sure! Do you have any fruit?" The cute batpony asked with a twinkle in her eyes. I nodded and went to the kitchen, retrieving a nice big apple from the refrigerator before making myself a small PB&J sandwich and returning to the living room, where I handed Melody her apple. She squealed with joy before sinking her fanged teeth into the juicy flesh of the apple, munching softly on the bite she had taken with a cute expression of joy. I giggled at the adorable display before munching on my sandwich.

After a few minutes of us enjoying our meals, my phone rang in my pocket. "Oh! I wonder who that could be?" I questioned before pulling out the small device, the caller ID reading 'Gracie'. I smirked and answered the phone, "Hey Gracie, what's up?"
"Hey Serah! How's that cute batpony you found yesterday?" She asked curiously.

"She's been alright, we've just been watching TV since breakfast." I replied with a smile.

"That's cool. Hey, is it okay for me to stop by again and visit our other worldly guest?" Gracie asked with a hint of excitement in her tone.

I giggled before giving her my response, "Sure, just let me know when you're here and I'll buzz you in."

"Awesome, I'll be on my way in a bit, just finishing up at work before I can head over." Gracie replied

"Alrighty, see you soon then." I said before hanging up the phone. Melody gave me a curious look.

"Who was that?" she asked with a tilt of her head.

"It was Gracie, she wanted to know if it was okay to come visit again today. She should be by soon." I answered the cute pony. She seemed to ponder something for a moment before talking again.

"Serah, what is that little box you were talking into?" she asked with a quizzical look.

"Oh this? It's my cellphone. It can make calls to anyone anytime across the world, though I only use it to talk to friends and play games." I replied while showing her the small smartphone. She seemed amazed at the sound of what it could do.

"Is all human technology so cool like this?" she asked with excitement.

"Some of it is, though it loses it's luster after having it for so long." I respond with a smile.

Melody tilted her head adorably as she looked at the small phone, curiously tapping the screen with her hoof, making the home screen change to the app page. She squeaked and pinned back her ears, "Serah, it changed pictures! how'd it do that?" the cute batpony asked curiously.

I giggle before responding, "It has a touch screen, meaning you touch it to make it do stuff." I demonstrated by tapping on one of the many apps, choosing Google as I swipe down the main news feed. Melody watched with a cute expression of curiosity as I swiped out of the app and went back to the home page.

"That's really cool Serah! I wish we had these back in Equestria!" Melody said with excitement, giggling to herself.

I smiled and put my phone back in my pocket, rubbing the cute batpony's ears before turning back to the TV. "Shall we continue watching TV while we wait for Gracie to get here?"

Melody purred before responding, "Yes, just don't stop the rubs... they feel so good." she said with a deep rosy blush adorning her cheeks.

I giggled and continued rubbing her ears as she leaned into my hand with a soft purr, relaxing against my side as we sat and continued watching the TV.
