When an odd necklace is brought to Equestria, Discord decides to mess with it. It all goes down hill when he breaks the thing, it separates him into his reformed side and his old chaotic side.
Luna was making her nightly rounds; she was letting her thoughts wander eastwards. Luna was flying over Ponyville and all seemed well. There was a slight breeze and it was annoying her, because it kept blowing some of her hears in front of her face
When she passed by Fluttershy cottage she heard a scream. She rushed down to her cottage and saw that Fluttershy was sleeping. She must be having a horrible nightmare Luna thought. Luna quickly entered her dream.
As Luna entered Fluttershy’s dream she saw that Fluttershy was falling. When Luna went to catch her she was pushed aside by Discord. The draconequus caught Fluttershy. Luna new that this wasn’t Discord: it simply couldn’t be, Luna could tell a dream manifestation from the real thing. She watched as Discord hugged Fluttershy and then he vanished. Fluttershy began to fall again and this time Luna caught her.
“What did I just see” Luna asked.
Fluttershy got a confused look on her face “I was falling.” She answered hesitantly.
“No before that” Luna said with the tiniest inflection of inpatients in her voice.
“Oh, I was still falling” Fluttershy said somewhat scared by that tiny inflection of inpatients in Luna’s voice.
Luna looked at her, a thought crossed her mind. That part with Discord was Fluttershy’s subconscious, it had taken over briefly. Luna had run into this sort of thing before, but never in a million years would she have expected Fluttershy to fall for Discord. Even at the subconscious level.
Luna looked at Fluttershy and said “Now that your nightmare has ended I’ll be taking my leave.”
Fluttershy replied “Goodbye” and waved as Luna left her dream. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That morning Fluttershy was tending to the animals when Discord appeared at the edge of the woods. He walked over to her.
“Hello, my dear.”
Fluttershy rolled her eyes and said “I wish you’d stop that.”
“Stop what? I’m just checking up on my best of friends.” He said trying to look as sympathetic as possible. This had as much affect on her as Fluttershy’s stare had on him.
“You keep coming over without telling me your coming first.”
“So, is that so wrong.”
“Yes, you scare the animals every time you come because I can’t prepare them ahead of time for your arrival.”
“Oh please” He rolled his eyes than snapped his fingers and all of the animals disappeared.
Fluttershy gasped “Discord, bring them back!” she said as sternly as she could.
Discord started laughing softly “ah, you’re so cute when you’re angry. Anything to please you my dear” He snapped his talons and all the animals reappeared exactly where they were.
Fluttershy flaw into his face and said “while we’re on the subject of you and shenanigans, I know that you spy on me.”
Discord gulped and stammered “why whatever do you mean, dear Fluttershy?”
“I know you hide in the trees, shrink and hide in the grass, turn invisible and watch me, and last but not least hide in my house while I’m feeding the animals.”
“How? I mean, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Discord stammered.
“Yes you do. The animals see you and tell me about it. Now how long have you been spying on me buster.”
“I started about the time that Twilight became an alicorn.” He said as he looked down. His face changed “wait, why am I telling this to you?” he was about to snap himself away but his hand was hit by a tomato. He looked and saw Angel Bunny had thrown it. “You” he reached down to grab Angel.
Fluttershy grabbed his claw “Don’t” she said giving him puppy dog eyes.
“Oh fine” Discord said disappointingly. “Anything for you” he said affectionately.
The tone of his voice had surprised her.
“What to go to Canterlot Fluttershy?” Discord asked abruptly.
This had surprised Fluttershy, she stammered “why”.
“Because I feel like visiting the Princesses and why not do it with my best friend?”
“Sure” Fluttershy said thinking it wouldn’t be that bad.
“Great” Discord exclaimed excitingly. He snapped his lion fingers and they where teleported to the entrance to Canterlot Palace.
“Oh my” Fluttershy exclaimed as loud as her shyness would allow. The she wasn’t prepared for the abrupt change of scenery.
“What’s the matter?” Discord asked with just the faintest hint of concern in his voice.
“I thought you meant later not right now. I hadn’t even finished feeding the animals.” She said with concern for her critters.
“Don’t worry I took care of your animals, I know how much those pest matter to you dear Fluttershy. Now do you want to go back?” Discord asked.
“Well if you took care of the animals then I see no reason to go back right away” she said cautiously. “besides I haven’t seen twilight in at least a week”.
Discords face lit up and he exclaimed “excellent, now where do you suppose the Princesses are?”
“Maybe they’re in the throne room.” Fluttershy answered.
“Good idea, let’s go” He raised his eagle claw and was about to snap when Fluttershy put her hoof over his claw.
“No I want to walk.” She said.
“Why when it is much faster just to teleport there.”
“We haven’t had a good conversation in a while” she replied.
“Oh fine, if it will please you.” --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They got lost “why don’t have to be lost you know, I could just teleport us to the throne room” Discord said annoyed.
“Oh, but we get to see more of the Palace this way” Fluttershy replied in her sweetest voice possible.
Discord couldn’t resist “fine”.
They wandered around for roughly thirty-three minutes when they finally bumped into Twilight who was franticly rushing towards the library and asked her to show them the way to the throne room.
“Why doesn’t Discord just teleport you there?” she asked.
“That’s what I said” Discord said very annoyed.
“I just wanted to see more of the Palace.” She said looking down at the ground.
Twilight knew this was torture to Discord so she pointed them in the wrong direction. Then went to the library.
It was about ten minutes later when Discord exclaimed “That pony sent us the wrong way!”
“Oh, I’m sure she didn’t mean to.” Fluttershy said assuredly.
“For some reason I don’t believe you my dear. I know that pony sent us the wrong way on purpose.” He got a mischievous look in his eyes.
Fluttershy took notice and flew into his face “you better not try anything”. Then she got a pleasant look in her eyes and flew back down to the ground.
After about five more minutes of wandering they finally found their way to the throne room and saw an earth pony knight in very over polished full body armor speaking to Luna.
Discord put his lion paw trying to block the reflection “Geese these knights take themselves way too seriously.”
The knight turned towards Discord and spat at him “Quiet foul beast or I shall have your head”.
Discord started laughing hysterically “that’s rich, that’s rich. You think you could hurt me.” He stopped laughing, rolled his eyes, and snapped his talons and a flash engulfed the knight.
Discord look turned from being pleased with himself to astonishment that the knight was still there. “How are you still here” he asked still astonished.
“My armor is magic proof, foolish beast. Now go I have business with Princess Luna” the knight ordered.
The knight turned towards Luna and began “I have quested to the beyond the edge of Equestria and retrieved the artifact that you requested.” At that he pulled out a necklace that was not unlike the ones worn by five of the main six. However it was made of black and white material. The black was on the right half of the necklace and the white was on the left. The gem in the center was shaped like a pentagram facing upwards, the gem was also in contrast to the necklace, so that the white was on the right and the black was on the left.
Discord looked at the necklace and was in ah. He teleported in between Luna and the knight and grabbed the necklace. The knight drew his sword and tried to slash Discord with it. Discord teleported away before the blade could hit him.
“What is so important about this necklace” Discord asked.
“Beast, return it to me or I will be forced to take action of an unpleasant nature for you.” The knight said trying to calm down.
“That doesn’t answer my question, so no” Discord said.
At that the knight shot a beam at Discord. Discord was confused by the fact that an earth pony had used magic that he didn’t block the blast.
It hit him and knocked him down. He got back up as quickly as he could and roared loudly “how dare you.”
Fluttershy began to fly at Discord as he snapped his talons at the Knight. Nothing happened not even a flash. Discord looked down and back at the knight. He started snapping his various fingers wildly.
“What have you done to me?” he bellowed.
“I pacified you.” The knight retorted back “you can’t use any spell that can bring harm directly or indirectly for about thirty minutes.”
Discord started trying various spells. He found he could still teleport. So being him he threw the necklace above the knight’s head. The knight chased after it and tried to catch it when he ran into Discord. The draconequus had teleported in front of him to catch the necklace. The knight realized Discord was playing keep away with him.
Discord decided to pretend to throw the necklace and he did. As his arm motioned like he was about to throw the necklace he held on to the white half. The knight watched as the black half flew into the air and chased after it. He ran into another Discord who had caught it.
“Maker!” the knight exclaimed in surprise. “You must combine both halves of the necklace before you hurt yourself beast” the knight ordered the two Discords. The first Discord handed him his half of the necklace. The second Discord however said “no I’m finally free I won’t join back with that wimp.” At that he snapped his fingers and disappeared.
Luna shook her head “this is not good” she said.
“Why” Fluttershy asked.
The knight turned towards her “it’s not good because this beast” he said pointing to the Discord that was still in the throne room. He continued “Is just half of a whole.”
“What do you mean” Fluttershy asked him.
Luna answered “that necklace that Discord broke is the necklace of Harmonious Chaos. By splitting it Discord has split himself into his reformed harmonious side and his old chaotic side.” As soon as she said that there was a crack of thunder. It was raining chocolate milk outside.
Fluttershy looked at Discord and said “stop this”.
Discord said “what I can’t do anything”.
“The chaotic Discord must not have been affected by your spell” Princess Luna said to the knight.
“Where do you suppose he is hiding?” he asked the Princess.
“Let’s ask Discord” Luna said turning to the reformed Discord and asked “Where do you suppose your chaotic half went?”
The reformed Discord stroked his beard “well I don’t know he is chaos incarnate he could be anywhere.”
Fluttershy said “he’s either in Ponyville messing with my friends, the Crystal Empire messing with Princess Cadance, or still in Canterlot getting ready to mess with you and your sister.”
Every pony looked at her, and the reformed Discord asked “you know me that well”.
Fluttershy giggled “of course, you’re my friend.”
Luna began to think well that’s not completely unexpected, but to that degree of knowing him. How much time does she spend with Discord?
The knight said “Forgive me your Highness but I should help the guard, besides this chimera caused the mess he should fix it.”
Luna nodded “yes go”.
Luna had sent a guard to find Princess Celestia, and they had complied. Princess Celestia walked into the throne room from a side entrance. As soon as she saw Discord her eyes rolled “Is this about Discord?” she asked Luna.
“Well yes and no.” Luna replied. This caused Celestia to arch an eyebrow. Luna saw this and continued “Well I sent some knights to find me an artifact that I had knew of before my banishment. This artifact is the Necklace of Harmonious Chaos”.
Celestia had never heard of this artifact, so she asked Luna “what is this necklace?” she said as she walked closer.
Luna answered “the Necklace of Harmonious Chaos is a powerful artifact that has the ability to separate the evil part of a pony from the good part. It is also speculated that it can separate the chaotic part of a pony from the harmonious part.
Celestia had put two and two together and once she saw the half necklace is Discords paw she knew that it had worked its magic on Discord. Suddenly there was a crack of thunder and Fluttershy shot behind the good Discord. He was surprised that she had done it but was perfectly fine with it.
There was maniacal laughter; this made Fluttershy begin to squeeze the life out of Discord. Then the evil Discord appeared and teleported Fluttershy into his arms, he was stroking her like he was an evil genius and she was his cat. Now Princess Celestia I’m afraid that your Kingdom is mine.
Celestia made her look as imposing as she could, this made Discord laugh “you should see the look on your face you’re so serious” he had nearly forgot he was stroking Fluttershy like a cat, as he threw up his hands he roared with laughter.
Luna shot a beam at him and he simply deflected it. Celestia shot a beam and he deflected it saying “You ponies need to learn some new tricks. Oh well if you need me I’ll be in the Crystal Empire.
Discord was hovering over the Crystal Empire on a cotton candy cloud he was watching the crystal ponies. He was contemplating his plan. Should I make it rain chocolate, or should he turn all the animals to horrid versions of themselves, he thought to himself.
As he thought this he heard the honk of a horn. He looked over his shoulder to see his favorite little crazy pony. “Screwball!” he exclaimed “I was beginning to wonder when you would show up”.
Screwball looked at him and began “Well you didn’t tell me to come”. She said as she rolled her swirled eyes.
As far as Discord knew Screwball was a time traveler, he also knew she was raised in a time where he wasn’t in power, but he was still alive. He had always figured that she was born or conserved at or near the end of his first reign of Equestria. And she had been raised by her mother, whoever that was. He honestly didn’t know who the mother was, he had no clue.
Every time he saw Screwball she was always a different age than she was last time he saw her. She also didn’t age whenever she was with him. He learned that about her during his first reign, during his second reign she was slightly younger than before, that proved she aged. Now she was somewhere in between the two, she looked about twenty or so.
She looked down and asked “Dad what’s the plan?” she asked smiling.
Discord confessed her dilemma to her and then looked down at the ponies. She said “Why don’t you just turn the crystals into rock candy?”
Discord gave his daughter a hug and said “Brilliant, that’s just brilliant. Oh, why didn't I think of that?” he asked rhetorically. He snapped his fingers and all the crystals had become rock candy, no pony noticed. So he conjured up a huge storm of cotton candy clouds and wine. This made the rock candy sticky and the ponies finally noticed his prank.
Of course he had to reveal himself to do it but he didn't care for discrepancy.
Screwball looked at his eagle claw “Hay dad” she started hesitantly “What’s that in your hand?” she asked him.
“Oh this thing is nothing” he said and through it off the end of the cloud. He started to snap wildly causing various changes to the Crystal Empire. As he went to snap again he found his finger blocked by the half of the necklace he had thrown off the cloud.
“What the?” he asked quizzically. He looked at Screwball and said “did you put this back into my hand?” he asked her.
She shook her head “No I didn’t do anything”.
He arched an eyebrow “oh, really?” he asked her.
“I don’t know what to tell you dad, maybe the thing just likes you?” she said puzzled.
“I don’t like the sound of that.” He said this and threw it over his shoulder.
Then he began to move southward. Screwball asked him where he was going.
He replied “Well we need to spread chaos to the rest of Equestria, don’t we?” he asked assuredly.
Screwball looked at him and a gleam came in her eye “Well what are we waiting for?” she used her hoof to start spinning her propeller, and lifted off. She flew faster than anyone but Discord would have expected to be able to with that hat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fluttershy was horrified at the lightning and rain; she was still hiding behind Discord. She knew he was weakened but she knew he would protect her. These thoughts raced through her head and she had a slight epiphany. She had a slight crush on Discord of all ponies, or at least his reformed half.
Princess Celestia looked at the good Discord and demanded that he remove the clouds around Canterlot.
To this he responded “I’m afraid I can’t do that”. He said as though he didn’t want to.
Fluttershy sighed, flew up, and whispered into his ear. Discords eyes went wide; he bowed deeply and apologized to her in earnest. As he came up he pulled his hands down to his side and Luna eyes went wide.
Luna finally noticed the half of the necklace and bellowed “You took good half of the necklace back from the knight”.
Discord lifted up his paw and saw that he was clenching the good half of necklace. He put it down and said “I don’t know how that got there”. He brought his paw up to scratch the back of his neck he felt the necklace in his paw. Shocked he threw the necklace across the room, it didn’t even get to the wall before returning his paw. Luna simply shook her head “once the two pieces are separated the only way the separator can get rid of it is to bring it and their self back to one being.
Celestia looked at Luna “how do you know so much about this artifact?” she asked with a somewhat puzzled expression on her face. Well that was obvious to Luna but Fluttershy and Discord saw no discernible change.
“Before I became Nightmare Moon I took it upon myself to familiarize myself with most of the great magical artifacts I could find out about. This led me to hide various artifacts outside Equestria’s borders. At one point I thought that I could use these artifacts to overpower you when I came back from the moon.”
Discord’s mouth dropped “you actually had a contingency plan should you fail to take Equestria?” he asked in astonishment.
This brought Celestia’s attention back to him and she demanded “Discord I told you to get rid of these clouds of yours”.
“And I told you I can’t do that.” He replied.
Celestia got a cold hard look at him “I demand that you do this draconequus”
Luna interjected before Discord could reply “He was hit with a spell that inhibits his magic for about thirty minutes. And it’s only been twenty minutes.” She explained to her sister.
Celestia looked at Discord and apologized for her behavior. Then her face changed, again this was so subtle that only Luna noticed it, she asked him “Why does your other chaotic half have full power and your good half still impaired?”
“Because he is chaos incarnate and as you know, he doesn’t have to make any logical sense.” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Discord was now clinging upside down to the bottom of a cloud with Screwball clinging right next to him. He always had fun when he was with Screwball; she always had the best ideas.
Screwball was thinking a mile a minute. We could make it so the pegisus ponies can’t stand on clouds, we could take away their wings, or we can change their wings into bug wings.
Discord looked at her and said “Good Idea”, he snapped his fingers and suddenly there were hundreds of ponies falling through the cloud. One landed on Discord and Discord turned the pegisus into a small pink butterfly.
At that Screwball realized it looked like one of the butterflies on an all too familiar cutie mark. She also realized that her dad had read her mind “you said you wouldn’t do that” she exclaimed at him in frustration.
“Did I, I have no recollection of ever saying that.” He said giving a shrug.
There was a shimmer in front of him as he saw his past self touching Screwball on the forehead with his index finger. The image of himself pulled his finger away and the image of Screwball shook her head, the image said “Dad please don’t do that again”
The Discord image said “Why it is much easier than talking”.
The Screwball image answered him “Because it is an invention of privacy and I am one to keep her privacy”
The Discord image said “Oh, fine” as he crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.
The Screwball image got the cutest eyes she could muster “Do you promise Daddy?” she asked and then quivered her lip.
Discord was putty in her hooves and the image said with a huff “Fine… I promise that I won’t read your mind Screwball”.
The real Discord rubbed the back of his neck “I guess I did promise that, well, I guess you will need to think out loud for now on” he said as he grinned. He then looked eastward “I hear Manehattan is nice this time of year, let’s change that”.
Screwball and Discord started to fly at top speed towards Manehattan; all the way there they caused chaos. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Good Discord’s powers had begun to return and he was frantically rushing around Canterlot trying to fix the problems that his worse half had caused. Apparently the bad discord had turned most of the birds around Canterlot into Chaos Elementals. That was something he hadn’t used those things since his first reign on Equestria. Not that he didn’t like those things but they took way too long to make.
Thought raced through Discord’s mind. How had his alternate self made Chaos Elementals so fast. It was one of the few things that he couldn’t just poof up. He had to weaken himself to make them as well and they didn’t last long. It didn’t make any since. He slapped himself in the face “I’m thinking with logic, oh Chaos what is wrong with me!” he shouted aloud.
He had shouted it loud enough that Fluttershy had heard it; she flew as fast as she could to him. When she found him, he was curled into the fetal position rocking back and forward “oh dear” Fluttershy exclaimed as she flew closer. “There, there” she said tenderly and went to stroke his mane.
The moment she touched him Discord grabbed her and hugged her crying out “Oh Fluttershy I am going mad! I just thought with logic! Logic!!” he was crying and he was terrified. “Even if I am the good Discord, I am still a draconequus, and we almost never think with logic.
“It’s ok…” she said before she was cut off.
“No it’s not! This is the forth worst thing that has ever happened to me!” he exclaimed with a note of fear in his voice.
“If this is only the forth worst thing that has ever happened to you than why are you scared?” she asked slightly confused and with absolutely no sympathy.
Discord got a suspicious look on his face “Fluttershy are you OK?” he asked her hesitating.
Her face was concerned “What do you mean” she said frowning, than she smiled “Now let’s get you back to the Palace”.
Discord was worried she had acted differently, could his worse half have affected her while he was holding her. He thought to himself.
She was leading him to the Palace, but he was thinking “Fluttershy I need to fix this”.
“You can help at the Palace” she insisted worried for her friend.
“No” he said “My worse half made Chaos Elementals, those are some of the worse things that I have the ability to make. I have to stop them!” he had exclaimed. And he stood a little taller.
“No, it was a mistake to let you out of the palace before you where ready” Fluttershy shouted uncharacteristically.
Discord blinked “Fluttershy I think my worse half has affected you.”
“What makes you think that?” she said smirking.
“Call it a hunch” he said as he snapped his talons and they were both at the Palace.
“Discord, you’re supposed to be fixing your mess” Princess Celestia bellowed having enough of him.
He ignored her comment “I’m afraid that my worse half has affected Fluttershy’s mind and I’m still too weak to fix her, you have to help” he cried out in desperation.
This caused Celestia to blink in disbelief, not in a million years would she have expected Discord to care for a pony so much. “Fine bring her here”. As discord carried a struggling Fluttershy up to Celestia asked him something “How do you suppose I would do this?”
Discord was so worried that he didn’t think of it, he stroked his beard “I got it, I’ll cast the spell at you, all you have to do is deflect it back at Fluttershy and amplify it at the process, it should be easy, probably.” He said as a purple ball of light appeared in his hand. “Ready?” he asked.
Celestia didn’t like this plan but she said “Ready”.
He threw the orb and it hit Celestia’s horn and stayed there for about a second as it changed color from purple to flame yellow and she shot it back at Fluttershy. It hit her and Fluttershy passed out. Discord got a panicked look on his face; it literally evaporated as Fluttershy yawned.
“What happened?” she asked as she saw she was in Discords arms.
“My worse half put a spell on you to make you nasty when he was petting you” Discord explained to her.
Celestia looked at Discord “Why do you think he did that?” she asked him.
Discord stroked his beard “Perhaps he wants to cause disharmony to the Elements of Harmony.”
Fluttershy interjected “But we don’t have those anymore”.
Celestia looked at her “You’re right so why would he do that?” said asked them both.
They both just shrugged and Discord said “Maybe he wanted to distract us”.
Celestia looked at him “I hope your right” she said solemnly. “Now get back out there and fix this mess of yours” she ordered.
Discord bowed awkwardly as he tried not to drop Fluttershy. Then still carrying Fluttershy he left the throne room.
Discord was sitting on top of a building perched on top of a building looking down at all the ponies. “Screwball what do you think we should do this time?” he asked her, rubbing his paws together.
“I only have two ideas.” She told him. “Turn the buildings to rubber, or sink the island”.
“That gives me an idea” he said stroking his beard. “Screwball have you ever heard of the hippocampus?” he asked her.
“No what is it” she asked.
Discord snapped his talons and one of the ponies that he had been watching appeared in his lion paw. “Well you see a hippocampus is a pony with a fish tail for its back end” he said as he snapped his fingers and the pony’s back end turned into that of a fish. “They also can breathe under water” he said snapping his talons. The whole island began to sink and all of the ponies were turned into hippocampus.
“Where did you learn of these creatures dad?” she asked him.
“They existed during my first reign of Equestria and died out during it” he said slightly distracted.
“And you killed them all off, that’s horrible.” She said.
“Why your older self oversaw their destruction. One of them had offended you and you ordered my Chaos Elementals to go destroy their kingdom in the ocean.” He said clearly focusing on the sinking island.
“My future self did what?” she asked with disgust in her voice.
“Oh yes you are or will be personally responsible for the destruction of two pony races and three different creatures.” He said as he began to laugh at the ponies panicking in the street as they tried to run and flop away from the wave that was about to overtake them.
“What races will I destroy?” she demanded.
Discord turned towards her and drew a pentagram facing upward in the air. “You see the pentagram?” he said. Screwball nodded her head. He pointed towards the center and the image of an Alicorn appeared. “This is the first race it split its self into the five other races” he explained. He pointed towards the top of the pentagram and a image of a unicorn appeared “this is the second race, they focus on magic”. His figure moved clockwise around and the image of a pegasus appeared “this is the race of wind”. He continued clockwise and an image of a hippocampus appeared “this is the race of water” he continued clockwise and the image of an earth pony appeared “this is the race of earth”. He continued to the last point and an image of an earth pony that was on fire appeared “and this is the race of fire”. He turned towards Screwball and said to her “You are personally responsible for the destruction of the races of Hippocampus and the Flame Pony,”
“And now for the creatures” the image of a pony wolf appeared in front of her “the werewolf”.
She stopped him “I thought you said I only destroyed two pony species?” she asked in distress.
“You did, werewolves are a species that wasn’t spawned from the Alicorns”. He stroked his beard “now where was I?” he asked himself. “Ah yes, next species. Let’s see here” the image of a pony with snakes for her mane appeared “the gorgon you destroyed them because they turned your favorite pony to stone if I recall correctly”. The image changed into that of a bipedal creature that only had fur in the top of its head “I never even knew this one’s name but there were only about five hundred or so and you destroyed them on accident if I recall correctly”.
“This is horrible” Screwball said looking down.
“Cheer up, let's go mess with the ponies in Las Pegasus, that will cheer you up I bet”
“Can we rig the slots to spew out chocolate coins only” she said with a holding back tears.
“Of course we can” he said.
“Then let’s go” she said. A look crossed her face and she “why don’t we just teleport there” she asked him.
“Well we fly there so I we can spread chaos along the way.
“Oh” she said bluntly.
“What’s wrong” he asked caringly.
“Well I was hoping you were doing it to spend time with me” she said sheepishly.
“Oh” he said bluntly. Then fixing it “That’s a bonus” he said. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The good Discord’s power‘s had returned and he was dealing with some annoying Chaos Elementals when he heard a scream. It took a moment then he recognized it as Twilight’s, he teleported to about where he had thought the scream was coming from. He saw twilight with three chaos elementals riding on her back and one looked a lot like that dragon of hers Spike. Discord quickly grabbed all three of them then inhaled deeply over them so that the chaotic power was sucked into him. He always found that he wasn’t receiving the energy he took from the Elementals, he had figured since he wasn’t Chaos incarnate he was transferring it to his worse half.
He sent the birds away and put the dragon onto Twilight’s back. She looked at him annoyed “Why did you do this?” she asked.
“No one told you, I have been split in half into two halves, me the good half and my bad half, he did this” he explained to her and then showed her his half of the necklace ”the other half of me has the bad half”.
Twilight looked at it “why is the gem a such a dark color? it seems out of place in such a bright necklace” she asked him.
“I don’t know. Besides it doesn’t matter.” As soon as he had said this they both heard a scream this time it was Fluttershy discord raced there as fast as he could. When he found her he saw his evil half holding her in his paw and claw. He also saw Screwball “What are you doing here?” he asked her puzzled.
This made Screwball get a confused look on her face. Then she noticed what was his paw “why you both have different colored necklace halves?” she asked the good Discord.
“You didn’t tell her” the good Discord asked the bad Discord.
The bad Discord rolled his eyes “I didn’t think it was important to tell her that I’m only half of her dear daddy Discord” he said to his better half.
“Why would you think that she’s our daughter, she is one of the most important ponies in our life. Not to mention the only consistent pony at that!” he shouted at his bad half.
“What about Fluttershy she’s been there for us ever since you became more prevalent in our life!” the bad half shouted back.
“But we’ve known Screwball for years and dear Fluttershy for only a few” said the bad half as he looked down at the pony in his arms.
“Why are you two even here?” the good Discord asked his bad half.
“Well we were just heading to Las Pegasus to cause some trouble when I heard Fluttershy here scream and I just had to come and help her. But now that I think about it I want her to accompany me and Screwball to Las Pegasus.” He said as he touched his chest with his eagle claw, then it phased into his chest and he pulled it out. Clenched in his talons was a multicolored ball of light.
The good discord realized what he was doing and tried to jump at him. He was stopped by three Chaos Elementals.
The bad Discord flipped Fluttershy over so he was holding her like he would hold a baby. There was terror in her eyes as he plunged his talons into her chest. She was confused, she hadn’t felt anything she looked down and saw that his talons were phased into her chest. The bad Discord pulled his claw out and let his magic begin to work.
Fluttershy was twitching and the evil Discord let her go. Before she hit the ground she began to fly. One of her wings had changed to her bat wing, all of her teeth were pointed, and one of her irises changed to a dark red. Her coat changed into an assortment of colors, her main also turned to a variety of colors.
“What’s happening?” she shouted in terror.
“You’re becoming a Chaos Elemental my dear Fluttershy” the bad Discord said then began to laugh manically.
Screwball was trying really hard not to say anything; she didn’t want to interrupt the timeline. She wanted to exist and if she spoke her mind now she could jeopardize her existence.
The good Discord had beaten the Chaos Elementals but he was too late and he saw what had happened to Fluttershy. He tackled his bad half “stop this right now or I’ll; I’ll…”
“You’ll what, have you forgotten I’m the bad half!” the bad half shouted and shot a beam at his better half, this got the good half off of him and sent him crashing through a nearby building.
“Now if you’ll excuse us” the bad Discord began “We have some chaos to reek in Las Pegasus”.
“No!!” the good discord shouted and flew at his bad half.
Before he got there Fluttershy flew in between them facing the good Discord. She said something incoherent, but the good Discord understood it exactly.
“But he’s just using you” he said to her.
She shouted a bunch of random sounds back at him.
“That’s not you talking it’s the Spark of Chaos he put in you” he said pleading with her.
She said some more random sounds.
“You don’t like being this way, the chaos in you likes it, but you don’t” he said trying to explain to him.
She made more random sounds.
“Fluttershy you didn’t like it when we made you into a mean pony! How could you like yourself like this!?! This time it actually affected your physical appearance.” he shouted in frustration with her.
“Oh please” the bad Discord said as he shot his better half with another beam. “Come on my dear Fluttershy we have chaos to wreak!”
As they flew off the good Discord got up and saw his wings where broken, he went to snap and the necklace half stopped it. His anger grew and he threw the thing down the street. It nearly hit Luna as she rounded the corner but at the moment it would have hit her it returned to Discords hand.
Discord forgot about his broken wings and rushed to Luna “I’m so sorry I didn’t know it was going to hit you” he said, he had seen her flinch.
Luna looked up at him “It didn’t. Do you happen to know where Fluttershy is my sister and I want to send her back to Ponyville so she can prepare for you bad halves arrival?” she asked completely clueless to the situation.
Discord turned away from her “She is with my bad half, he turned her into a Chaos Elemental, then went off to Las Pegasus” he said with tears welling up in his eyes.
Luna put her hoof on his shoulder “Then go and retrieve you love Discord” she said with certainty.
Discord turned to her “what gave it away?” he asked her wiping the tears from his eyes.
“You spent nearly an hour wondering the palace with her, your evil half clearly likes her, and the pain that you’re in now knowing that she is hurt” she said with great sympathy.
Discord snapped his fingers and disappeared. Luna knew this was the right thing for him to do. She needed to get back to her sister so they can show a united front in the relief effort.
But her mind wondered to Discord she hoped it would work out for them in the end and it didn't end up like it had with her and the last pony that had tried to court her.
The bad Discord was racing to Las Pegasus; his companions were falling behind him. He decides to lag back to allow them to catch up.
“Dad” Screwball started “why did you make M…ah…that mare a Chaos Elemental?
“Well, you see Screwball; first that mare’s name is Fluttershy; second I like her company.” Discord said somewhat annoyed with his daughter for asking what he thought was a stupid question.
“Really?” Screwball asked not liking his tone.
“Yes, I like her company. Anything wrong with that?” he spat at her.
“Dad what’s wrong?” she asked “you’ve never taken that tone with me before.”
Discord was being nasty. Screwball was concerned for her dad; it was rare he would create a Chaos Elemental by giving it his pure Chaos energy. Especially considering he can’t regenerate that back. Then a thought crossed her mind could this be the day it happens? I hope it is, I have to make sure I play my part correctly otherwise I jeopardize my world.
Screwball turned to her dad “How much longer till we get there dad?” she asked him.
“Well…” he tried to drag out the sentience, “We’re here!” He exclaimed.
They were over the bright city. Discord was looking around for a place to hide so he could decide what to do. Then he saw it, a tall building bearing the name Lucky 38 in neon lights across its top.
Discord pointed at it “I remember that place, come on we’re going to plot on top of it. I hope it’s still there.”
“What’s still there?” Screwball asked slightly confused.
“Last time I took over I came here and hid a contingency plan in that hotel/casino” he explained.
“What was the plan?”
“Simple, if I was encased in stone for longer than twenty years, the bomb hidden in the casino would go off and change every pony in this city into fire ponies” he explained enthusiastically.
“We’re going to set off the bomb aren’t we?” Screwball asked secretly elated that in one day she had the opportunity to fix two of her mistakes that she had or will end up making.
“Yes and then were going to make all the slot machines spew out chocolate gold coins, it’s going to be a sticky mess.” He said as he began to rub his paw and claw together forgetting about the half necklace that was in his paw.
He snapped and Screwball was in a dress with a beautiful tiara where her hat was, Screwball shrieked, then she stared at her dad angrily “we’ve been over this don’t mess with my hat”.
Discord raised both hands in summation “Sorry I forgot, but this particular casino is a very fancy place and they wouldn’t let you in with that hat.” he explained calmly.
“Why am I going in cant you just make the bomb go off yourself?” she said still clearly angry about the hat.
“No if I went in than they would be alerted to my presence and that would ruin the surprise of the bomb going off” he said.
Screwball’s eyes narrowed and she said “fine tell me where you hid the bomb”.
“Great!” he exclaimed. “It’s in the casino machine twenty-three put exactly three dollars twenty four cents in it then pull the leaver half way. You should be able to twist it counterclockwise, do it as far as it will go and pull it down all the way” he paused and stroked his beard. “Once you’ve done that go the third roulette table from the main entrance, there is a changeling there. Tell him “Chaos Infinite” he’ll know exactly what to do and take it from there.”
“What if something goes wrong?” she asked her dad.
“It won’t, now stop stalling and get down there before I throw you down” he shouted at her impatiently.
Screwball jumped up and teleported down behind a pillar across the street. She emerged from behind the pillar and went inside.
There was a string of odd sounds from Fluttershy.
“I’m positive she can do it my dear” he replied.
Fluttershy released another string of odd sounds.
“You wound me, my dear. To think that any spawn of mine could fail in such a rudimentary task. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screwball had just hit the slot machine, and was now heading to the roulette table. Someone tapped her on the shoulder.
“Screwball my name is Moriz” said a female unicorn as she turned to see her.
Screwball cocked her head in confusion “Do I know you?” she asked sheepishly.
“Yes and no” Moriz answered. “I was the unhived changeling that your dad had ordered to accompany you during his last takeover.” Moriz explained.
“You told me your name was Rix” Screwball said completely confused and slightly angry for Rix’s deceit.
“It was then, but then I was hived.” Moriz explained. “When a changeling is unhived their name is no longer theirs so they must choose a new one.”
“Ok, now what do you want?” Screwball said impatiently.
“Well your dad has explained the whole situation to me, and he wants you to not activate the bomb” Moriz said hesitantly knowing that Screwball could and would break her cover if she wanted to.
“Was he holding a black or white necklace?” Screwball asked abruptly, surprising Moriz.
“He is the good half of your dad yes” Moriz answered.
“But I have to do this!” Screwball shouted at Moriz.
“Why?” Moriz asked.
“Because I destroyed the flame ponies and I will bring them back” she said assuredly
“No you won’t you‘ll be condemning these ponies to a species change” Moriz tried to explain.
“No, I’m doing this” Screwball said sternly. Then she turned around and went to the changeling at the roulette table.
Moriz was baffled she hadn’t seen Screwball like this before, the bad Discord is having a negative effect on her she thought to herself. Moriz went up to the changeling that Screwball had talked to but before she could say anything the changeling left. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screwball teleported up to the top of the building and Discord got an elated look on his face. “Did you do it” he asked in anticipation of her answer.
Screw ball answered “Yes, dad”. The moment she said this there was a red shockwave from the building. This caused the ponies in the city to scream; Discord and Fluttershy both began to laugh hysterically. Screwball grimaced at the sight on the street.
The multi colored ponies where all turned into different variations of black and red. There manes and tales where all fire. That was all that Screwball could see from that distance.
She was listening to the screams when she heard one slightly louder than the rest. She tried to mind it over the screams and his dad’s laughter. She turned her head to see it was a flying pony, but she saw her dad’s good half racing towards his bad half at top speed.
“Dad! Watch out!”she exclaimed.
This made the bad Discord sit up and the good Discord hit him and kept flying off the edge of the building.
“You’ve gone too far Evil half” the good half shouted.
“And you’re going to stop me!” the bad Discord shouted back.
“I can, we aren’t evenly matched anymore” the good Discord said.
“What makes you say that?”
“You put pure Chaos energy into Fluttershy.” The good discord answered.
“So!”
“So, I know how it weakens us. You won’t be able to keep up”
“Yes, but you’re a goodie four hooves now and there are certain lines you won’t cross” the bad Discord said as e shot a beam.
The good Discord deflected the beam and it shot up into the sky. “You won’t hurt any pony anymore; I will destroy you before you can destroy Equestria”.
“Even you’d make such a stupid mistake?” the bad Discord asked his good counterpart completely surprised.
“We both know that chaos leads to too many random occurrences, that’s how the dragons, chimeras, and ageing came to exist. Just imagine what might happen with more chaos. We always held back so everything was stable enough for us to rule it, but be both know you won’t holdback no matter what now.”
“You think I won’t hold back?” the bad Discord asked shooting another beam at his good counterpart.
The good Discord held out his paw and the beam hit it, he condensed the beam into a ball and threw it back at his bad half. “Of course you will!” the good Discord exclaimed. He pointed at Fluttershy “We’ve never turned a higher level creature into a Chaos Elemental before, let alone use pure Chaos to create one.”
The bad Discord smacked the ball down at the fire Ponies “So I’m trying something new, what’s the deal?”
The good Discord charged his counterpart, they collided and their claws were out. They scratched and bit each other. The bad Discord lost his large tooth, the good Discord chipped his antler, and they both had cuts all over their bodies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Screwball was panicking; she didn’t know what she was going to do. She had heard the storied but her mom never mentioned her presence here. Still she had to stop her dad from fighting himself. Oh what do I do? The thought repeated in her head.
Fluttershy said a few incoherent sentences.
Screwball turned to her “you’re absolutely right” she said getting a look on her face.
Fluttershy found a rope tied around her torso binding her wings to her body.
Screwball got behind her and began to push her over towards the edge. Fluttershy was grinding her hooves on the roof. She said another wave of sounds.
“Don’t worry I’m sure dad will catch you” Screwball said assuring.
Fluttershy fell over the edge. She was screaming louder than she ever had, probably helped that she was a Chaos Elemental. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Discords had taken to circling around each other then flying in doing some damage then retreating to circle again. Each time dropping there half of the necklace as to not fuse together.
It was during one of these charges at each other that they heard her scream. They both did an abrupt turn from each other and towards Fluttershy. They saw her falling, as they raced to catch her they got close. So close to each other that when the necklace halves reappeared in their hands that they were touching. There was a flash of light and a single Discord caught her.
He said “what in Celestia, how did I get here” he was holding a Chaos Elemental. He looked at it then saw Fluttershy’s eye. “Oh Celestia!” he exclaimed in horror as he saw what had happened to his dear Fluttershy. He quickly turned her over and snapped the ropes, reached into her chest and pulled out the pure Chaos energy.
Screwball wrapped her forelegs around his neck “you’re back to normal!” she exclaimed with happiness.
“Screwball! What happened? How much did I drink?” he asked completely confused.
Fluttershy flew up to Screwball “I didn’t mean throw me over the edge, I was suggesting we get the changeling to do it, you…you…” she searched for an insult.
Discord interrupted “whoops missed some Chaos” he said reaching into her back pulling out an orb of condensed chaos roughly the size of a marble.
Screwball hugged her “you’re alright” then quickly pulled away.
Discord arched an eyebrow “how do you know Fluttershy?” he asked his daughter.
“Oh…well…look at the time, looks like I’m being pulled back to my timeline” she said nervously and vanished.
Fluttershy and Discord looked at each other “Discord who’s Screwball?” Fluttershy asked nervously.
“She’s my time traveling Daughter who grew up when I was alive but not in power.” He said looking at her with a sheepish look.
“You don’t suppose….”
“No way, or at least I don’t think so”
“Let’s never speak of this again”
“Agreed.”
“Now you have some problems to fix”
Discord rolled his eyes “Fine” she shaped his talons and a white flash appeared over all the places that discord had been and they returned to normal.
“You still have to apologize to the princesses”
“Fine” he snapped his fingers and they were in Canterlot Palace’s throne room where the princesses were having a heated discussion.
Discord waved and they gave him a stern look. This made Discord start laughing, but Fluttershy nudged him on the side. He quickly stifled his laughter and said “My princesses you have my deepest apologies for the chaos I apparently wreaked upon the ponies of Equestria”
“What do you mean “apparently”?” Celestia asked annoyed with his behavior. The Chaos Elementals had brought the sisters to a breaking point.
“Sister we cannot blame him for what the necklace did.”
Celestia composed herself “Discord give Luna the necklace and get out” she said calmly.
Discord walked over to Luna and gave her the necklace. She quickly called a guard over and told him to put it in the vault. He took the necklace and left.
Discord heard the doors to the throne room close behind him and he looked at Fluttershy “do you remember anything that happened?” he asked her.
Fluttershy nodded “your evil half was going to make me his queen once you had turned all the major cities of Equestria into chaos centers” she explained.
“Well that cat’s out of the bag” he said knowing she couldn’t think the same of him, especially after what he had done to her.
She flew up to be eyelevel with him “It was sweet, but you could have executed it better”.
“You don’t mean…”
She nodded and he started to do a little dance “she does, oh this means no more picking peddles”
Fluttershy cocked her head in confusion “Peddles?”
“Oh lets go have a proper first date!” he said excitedly.
