Ohhh got it. That makes more a lot more sense. And yeah I know oil places a big role in the Iran-Saudi Arabia conflict and the chaos in the middle
East in recent years in general. I hope one day though that Shia and Sunni Muslims can live in relative harmony.

Shia Islam basically says that Ali, who is Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law, should've been his successor. There's a whole bunch of malarkey about the differences between the two sects and who is the true prophet and messenger in it, which I wouldn't want to describe here because it's very long and would require an entire essay, but you can always google it if you want.

Anyways, I'm not a very religious person at all, but people and certain groups in my country take this stuff very seriously. Extremist and Salafist Sunni groups over here call Shias "Kafirs," which means "Infidels," and say that they conduct "Shirk," which means that they endorse polytheism. Extremist Shia groups also hate the Sunnis because of that. And yeah, the Sunnis support the Saudis, and the Shias support the Iranians.

Yeah, Pakistan's population is mostly Sunni, but there are a few pockets over here that have majority Shia populations. There have been numerous incidents of sectarian violence and attacks over the years between the Sunnis and Shias over here.

Also, the hatred between Saudi Arabia and Iran goes beyond religion now because they mostly care about the geopolitics in the region and want oil for themselves. They're only using religion as a cover to brainwash people into fighting for them.

Nevertheless, they both believe in Muhammad as a prophet and a messenger.

Thanks. And of course I know about Sunni and Shia Muslims. They’re basically like two branches of Islam though I can’t remember exactly what the differences are. I’m pretty it dates back to the time of Muhammad or shortly after and maybe his followers or descendants in the 7th-8th centuries AD, but my apologies if I’m incorrect. I know a good majority of Muslims are Sunni, and I know that they often don’t like each other. It’s definitely a large reason why Saudi Arabia and Iran are mortal enemies since Saudi Arabia is mostly Sunni and Iran is mostly Shia. I’m pretty sure the majority of people in Pakistan are Sunni Muslims.
